HISTORY
Established in 2008.
Pure Plumbing Service started as an alternative to the larger and higher priced big box companies in town. After working for one of these companies for over a 6 years Mark understood that the largest companies didn't always offer a higher level of service. In fact, the opposite was often true. These big companies are in a constant struggle to keep up with a high volume of calls and often times the plumber they send out might not even be properly licensed. So what you end up with is a lower quality of work at a much higher price. All of our plumbers attend a continuing education course every year to ensure we are up to date on current code and familiar with new products. Our company mission is to retain customers through professional, courteous, quality service at competitive rates. We do the work correctly the first time out, our business depends on it.

Mark was born in Austin and raised in Victoria where he began his plumbing career over 20 years ago. He returned to Austin in 2002 with his wife and now 5 children. Mark quickly gained the respect and admiration of his coworkers by his work ethic and willingness to go above and beyond expectations. Customers have always been the priority for Mark making sure all their needs were met and satisfaction guaranteed. Mark plans on expanding Pure Plumbing Service by hiring only the best, most qualified personnel ensuring that we will be able to continue provide quick, quality service at reasonable rates for a long time to come.

Mark came over to give an estimate for tub installation. He obviously didn't like the idea of a difficult cast iron tub installation even though I was doing all removal and demolition of wall Sheetrock so he and other plumber/ helper could just install and add new drain hardware. His bid? $3644 for
drain hardware and a few hours work. NOPE.

Tech was very nice and courteous. However a lot of unexpected charges like credit card surcharge, PPE charge (although work was done outside), didn't honor coupon, charge an hour of work for a 5 min of tightening. Worse of all, didn't even fix the problem and wanted to charge $300 extra. At the end, I ended up fixing it myself for less than $50.
He is expensive but if he would had fixed it in the first place or come back and fix it properly without gouging me over again then I wouldn't had given him a poor review.
Mark was very helpful in a) getting me set up for the freeze and b) quickly replacing my ancient hose bibs.

I've been using Pure Plumbing for several years and Mark has always been outstanding. This weekend had an issue with my on demand gas water heater. Called Mark and he walked me thru a few steps on the phone, and after several back and forth calls as I worked thru the process I was able to resolve the issue. No need for an on site service call and Mark was patient and friendly every time I called. You can't go wrong - I would recommend hands down.

Mark is a plumbing wizard! We will be forever grateful for his immediate response and accurate, fast work. Our pipes burst in two places following snovid in mid-Feb and Mark visited us twice to repair - once even driving in the terrible snow to help his community. He is polite, informative, cool under pressure, fast, incredibly skilled and fair.

We selected Pure Plumbing after a Yelp search and reaching out via email for quotes. Mark was a professional, pleasant and respectful. He showed up and took care of business - we were fortunate in having a quick fix. Highly recommend Pure Plumbing Service for anyone in need.
Talked me through a solution on the phone to my problem with a tankless water heater. He *wasn't* the plumber who installed the system. Could have easily just told me that I had to pay him for a visit to the house but instead was patient and walked me through a checklist that got us to the solution.

Mark came by a couple times to fix various issues with an old house I was getting ready for sale. He was always flexible and prompt to head over. He's as capable as he is friendly, and now my goto plumbing guy from now own based on my exp. I'll recommend him to anyone who needs a plumber.
He's also very reasonable with his estimates and cost. A++
I came home to a $700 water bill yesterday. I called the city and they said they couldn't get anyone by until next week. I called 2 other plumbers and they said they couldn't help until the city turned off our water because that would be tampering with city property. Mark responded to my request 1st thing this morning, made an appointment for noon and showed up almost 30 minutes early. He fixed the problem quickly and charged a very reasonable rate.
Quite overpriced. $160 per hour labor + $60 service call fee not waived with service, plus tax, in the end, more than $230 even if it is just about several minutes
This is a very good company with excellent customer service. The owner, Mark is a very honest man. He called me a half hour before his scheduled appointment and arrived exactly on time. He quickly determined a simple quick fix for my leaking valve. He went to the local plumbers supply with the correct part and reassembled the valve for a reasonable charge. I would have no doubts about using this company again.

HIGHLY recommend Pure Plumbing Service! Ive been trying to fix a clog for about 2 weeks now on my own. I finally broke down and decided I needed professional help. Mark knew exactly what was going on and as it was an easy fix, he walked me through it. He is very knowledgeable and professional. I wont go to anyone else for plumbing services in the future. Mark was my hero yesterday. I would give him a hundred stars if I could. We had a blockage in our sewer line and water was coming up from our toilet and spilling into our bathroom and surrounding rooms. I was in a full-fledge panic and started calling emergency plumbing services. No one was answering; some of the voicemails said they were busy for the next two weeks. Suddenly I remembered to call Mark, who I've used for a few issues previously. He answered, said he could be there in the afternoon, and showed up less than an hour later. He found the problem and fixed it, all for a very reasonable price. He then called a water removal service for me and got them to come quickly. To boot, he is kind, calm, reassuring and caring. I would recommend him in a heartbeat.

My sprinklers and hose spouts had low water pressure. Mark came out and adjusted the pressure regulator valve. He mentioned that it was on its last leg and might need to be replaced. He said if it needed to be replaced, he would credit the amount he charged for adjusting it. He checked the pressure and said it was back up. However, the water pressure was still weak. So I called him the next day and he came the next morning and replaced it. Now I have full pressure and as a bonus, my indoor water pressure also increased. I never realized how much I missed a good shower. Mark was prompt, knowledgeable, and courteous. He also wore a mask and respected the COVID-19 situation. I recommend Mark for your plumbing services.
My kitchen faucet was broken and flooded my kitchen and part of my living room!
I received a quick response to my quote request and was able to schedule and appointment for the next day.
The work was done quickly and the area was left clean. Highly recommended!

One star for a prompt response and one for showing up when they said they would. But I've never felt so taken advantage of financially. I had a leaky toilet that required ten minutes worth of tweaking, and it cost me over $250. Recommended only for those with very deep pockets.

We had a problem with the sewer lift pump and called Mark Reilly. He promptly responded to look at the situation, formulated a plan of action and carried it out within one working day. He was professional, well equipped and extremely knowledgeable about the problem and solution. The price he originally quoted was within a few dollars of the final bill. If you have plumbing problem he is a master plumber and can take care of you with courtesy and professionally.

I would give Mark more than 5 stars, if I could.
He is knowledgeable, reliable, and trustworthy.
We remodeled our whole house including 4.5 bathrooms and the kitchen. We have a very nice house and needed someone that could do quality work and install high-end fixtures. We would also leave the door unlocked so mark could work even we were not home. We feel very lucky to have found Mark and wish all of workers had been as good as him!

Mark was able to schedule an appointment quickly to diagnose our aging water heater. He gave us an estimate on its remaining life and on what a new one would cost. He did not up-sell an immediate replacement. He was honest, efficient, and easy to work with. Highly recommended.

Mark is awesome! He came out quickly to take a look at my leaky shower head.
I originally called another company to take a look at the problem and was told that it would cost 1,200$ to fix the problem. Long story short, Mark fixed my leaky shower head by just replacing a part for 300$ he also offered to take a look around and noticed that my some of my values had been closed which was causing my pipes to rattle. So happy that I found Mark. He's honest & reliable! I'll be using him for any future plumbing issues. Thank you Mark!
So I don't know about this customer service other reviewers speak of. I called this company for bath fixture installation on Tuesday, nobody answered so I left a detailed message in the voice mail with the job description and my contact information. I heard nothing back so Wednesday evening i went to the company website and completed the contact request form, again with a detailed message and my contact information, still no response. I tend to give the benefit of the doubt more than i should and decided to try one more time using the yelp request quote which touts 2 hour response time at 100%, still no reply. So after 3 tries in 3 days I am finally giving up. I understand it may have been a small job and not worth their time, i get the weather was bad and they may have been busy but it doesn't take a whole lot of time to just make a quick call or respond to an email or quote request to say hey we are swamped and can't get to you.

Mark was on time and checked out our hot water heater, providing information, possible life of water heater and an estimate to replace. Mark was honest, courteous and reasonably priced. We will be using Mark for any plumbing issues/projects.
We couldn't speak more highly of Mark. He services all our commercial buildings in the Austin area. Yesterday we had a plumbing issue that escalated quickly and Mark was extremely diligent in uncovering the underlying issue. He's patient, professional, on point, responsive, and an over all kind human! So nice doing business with this man. He is very experienced and has always been a huge help to our company!
When our garbage disposal gave up the ghost and water was pouring out onto our floor, I called several plumbers. Mark not only picked up the phone when I called, but was able to make an appointment the next day. He called before he came, was prompt, very calming, patient, polite, and reasonably priced. He also repaired a defective outside faucet that another plumber installed. Would use him again!

Absolute best service call ever!
Just moved into a new home and the water heater light died. Mark came out immediately to address the pilot light on my water heater; after helping clear a path through the crowded garage and and unhinging the door to access it! Fixed the issue with ease, explained the new heater to me, and made recommendations.
Then he fixed my Boyfriends ALMOST perfect food disposal instillation(not even the reason I called)! Totally reasonable price, professional and friendly.
Time from call to resolution less than 90min.

I would hire again. Mark came out to look for possible slab leak. In my opinion, he knew what he was doing and approached the problem very methodically. Within an hour he was able to identify the leak which ended up being in my front yard. He told me the general proximity of the leak using a specialized microphone. I opted to dig it up and fix myself to save money.
I had a leak in my water main and called mark at 8am. He came by at noon and the problem was solved by 1:30. Great service, very fast response, and Mark is a nice guy too. I will be using him again and will recommend him to neighbors.
Prompt, friendly, got the job done. Sink shutoff valve and cartridge replacement.

To echo what everyone else has said, Mark is awesome! We spent over $500 with another plumbing company who fixed nothing, broke a filter, and then told us we needed to spend another $1000+ on a flushing system for our hot water heater.
When the hot water completely stopped a month later we called Pure Plumbing. He came 2 days later (not as fast as one without hot water would like, but he had other people to rescue) and said he thought it was the igniter, but couldn't tell until he fixed that. I appreciated his honesty and warning that we COULD need a new unit if this didn't work. Unfortunately it took another 6 days for the part to arrive, but luckily the new igniter worked!!! No more warming bath water on the stove!
He also told us it wouldn't really be worth the $ on the flushing system since the unit is already 10 yrs old. He totally could have sold us on that, but didn't. If only all home repair companies were so honest!! We'll definitely call Pure Plumbing first next time!!

Mark is a master plumber and gifted at what he does. It was a pleasure to watch him do things I can't even dream about. His prices are fair and appropriate for his profession.
I had a slab leak and rather than doing an exploratory dig, another plumbing service recommended Mark for a sound test. He came out, felt around, and said No need for the test, you have a hot water leak right here.
So he saved me some money there, since the test is like $300. I told him where I thought the pipes were and by cutting through drywall and backtracking, he was able to isolate the leak and cap it so it affected only a single bathroom.
He recommended re-piping around the leak rather than digging up my foundation to fix the pipe itself. I agreed. He also suggested using a PEX product for hot water lines, since it was cheaper, but I went with copper instead.
The re-piping took a couple of hours but was uneventful. He also re-piped a cold water line to my refrigerator that had leaked, capped an indoor propane line, and (ultimately) replaced a utility sink that had been leaking. It's been about 2 weeks since and I haven't had to call him back.
He showed up when he said he would and his work has been very good. I'd say his pricing is just above average. He's not the cheapest I've hired but he's not the most expensive either.
After a gas issue my water heater pilot wasn't staying lit, so I started phoning plumbers to have someone come check it. I spoke with five plumbers who were not available before speaking with Mark. When I explained the problem Mark said he would be happy to come out and check it, but suggested I try a few things to see if I could restart it myself. I'm not at all a handy person, but I was able to follow Mark's directions and save myself the cost of his visit. I'm so grateful that I stumbled upon him, and even though I was able to do the repair myself this time, I will definitely contact him for any future plumbing needs.
Mark is an excellent plumber. He was professional in diagnosing my issue then methodical in approaching the installation of the new part.

Mark was a lifesaver. He was willing to come to my house late Saturday night to fix a burst pipe (I had tried calling 2 other companies that wouldn't/couldn't do it).
He was honest, polite, and helpful. Definitely will call him again!
Mark is awesome. I'm a contractor and have a handyman business as well. I've used Pure a few times and have recommended him often to my social circle. He has always been solid on my work and the feedback I have gotten. Its rare to find a contractor that is not only skilled but professional. Pure is that. I know I don't have to worry about his work or doing what he says. Awesome.
Mark and his staff were great! The phone was answered promptly and they showed up on time, calling ahead to confirm before arriving. We had to have our faucets serviced and they were both fixed quickly. One started leaking again and Mark came back out almost immediately to find another problem had come up. Thanks for all your help, I will call Pure Plumbing next time I need these services at home.
I was referred to Pure Plumbing and was very pleased with Mark's work. He is very friendly and even took 10% off the final bill when he finished early. Mark was on time (the same day I called) and was able to quickly and cleanly fix my garbage disposal. He even fixed a small problem with my water softener for free when two other plumbing companies told me it would cost between $150-$300. We have had Pure Plumbing out for several projects at our house, big and small, and they have always been stellar. Quick response, high-quality work, reliable and friendly.
It's taken us 11 years in Austin to find a great plumber, and I'm willing to share so others don't have to wait that long. Mark, the owner, is a super-nice guy who knows his stuff. Fast turnaround, which is a plus.
Overall, I would recommend hiring this company for plumbing needs.
They were prompt, professional, and very friendly.
The work was completed quickly and proficiently.
I did have to haggle on the bill a bit, but that is to be expected. We received a 15% discount for being a first time customer (they offer 10% off for returning customers), and the owner Mark was very pleasant to deal with on the phone.
I also looked PPS up on the better business bureau. They have been operating since 2009 and have had no complaints at all. Pretty remarkable!
The only advice I might give is to be sure you understand the pricing before you get them over to your house. They expect immediate payment. It's $90.00 an hour with a minimum charge of an hour. There will be a mark up on the parts for labor (standard practice.) There's a $45 service fee no matter what. Write down when they arrive, and when they leave. Plumbers get paid more than most doctors, so don't faint when you get your bill. They're ALL expensive, but very necessary!

i would give a half star if it was possible.
maybe he is good at fixing water heaters, but i had him redo the plumbing in our old house. Bath tub needed replacing as the drain hole had rusted out beyond repair, new tankless hot water heater and had all new copper underneath the house.
after a couple of months first problem we had we noticed that our tub (new) began to rust around the drain again. it looked as though the tub was dropped on the drain hole (prior to installation) causing a large portion of the ceramic coating to be chipped, thus the rust.
we called mark back and asked him what this could be from...his response was, that it was the manufacturers fault. after calling the manufacturer, they claim that the tubs are sent via conveyer belt into the truck, then delivered to the store. therefore, they would never have the opportunity to DROP a tub.
basically he installed a tub that either he dropped or the person he bought it from dropped. by this time, all of the tile around the tub had been redone and his response was, to just clean it more often. WOW, thanks for installing a damaged rusting tub.
recently, we had our pier and beam house leveled and noticed that all the copper that he installed underneath our house, was just sitting on the ground nor was it insulated. it was supposed to be tacked up to the underside of the house. paid full price, for half-priced work. Good Luck Mark

I have used Pure Plumbing for a couple of issues at my house and both times I thought Mark did a great job! Both times he provided me with a couple of different options to fix the problem based on what I could afford and what had to be done vs. what could wait and be fixed in the future. This is beyond helpful for home owners on a tight budget! Both times Mark was easy to get in touch with, was available immediately and completed the repairs quickly and efficiently. I will definitely use Pure Plumbing Service for all my future plumbing needs!!

Great service from Mark. I've hired him a few times for various plumbing jobs. He does good quality work and has been quite generous with his time. He has a good manner and is good at explaining the issues, and he has really gone the extra mile for us. I highly recommend Pure Plumbing.
