American Leak Detection of Dallas

Poor quality of work and no reporting of work performed. No analysis report, no photos, no determination of leak volume or location. When asked for the leak inspection report, we receive comment that ALD of Dallas does not provide a report nor photos for work performed but only the invoice with brief comments. I was told that the ALD contractor would call me and have not received a call for 2 weeks. The cost for this service does not align with the quality of work and reporting output.
ALD failed to locate the issue.

ALD has been great to us.  I'd recommend them over and over again.  It's amazing how they can find the exact area the leak is coming from then fix it.  We will continue to use them and recommend to family and friends!!!

They gave leak location on my yard for $295. I asked to fix it but they said next available date is in one week, so I called other plumber and dug the ground, but found no leak. I asked American Leak Detection for refund, but they said they will not refund. They said they can send technician again, and if new leak location is within 3 feet, they will charge me another service charge which was around $130. I declined because I didn't want to waste another money on someine doesn't do the job right. Think again before requesting service.

Bad experience. They misdiagnosed our problem. Totally missed the leak! This led to longer term issues like mold. Would not use them again.

I am very happy with the customer service provided by ALD. They opened a tunnel under my house and they had to brake my concrete. The crew that close the whole and put the concrete back did a bad job. The color didn't match. We contacted Chance the technician and he promised my husband and I that he will take care of that in a nice and professional manner. Yesterday Cody O' Daniel came to fix  the concrete. He did a excellent job, he match the color and my backyard look like nothing never happen. Thank you Chance and Cody for the great customer service and professionalism.

I would not recommend ALD -not knowledgable and charge inflated prices! My parents had a wet spot outside ( the ground was visibly wet) outside the wall of their master bath so we called a plumber and he referred us to American Leak Detection to find where the leak was coming from. We called them ( without calling around based on the referral) Big mistake. There was a separate issue of the hallway feeling warm to the touch - We told them about both issues. They detected the hot water leak - and we had them fix it by drilling into the garage floor to access that pipe. The water leak on the side of the house was still not resolved after a week - we called them back and they said that was another leak... Which is what we called them for in the first place - they never took the time to detect that leak and just fixed one of the problems even though we kept asking if the hot water leak was what was causing the wet ground. They came out 3 times and we still have a wet ground leak. We also had a backed up bathtub drain but they said someone else would have to be called for that and they would charge us another $600 to diagnose it. They technician that came out can ONLY detect water leaks and has no knowledge of drain lines. So he will have to keep referring to other people if the problem is outside of the only thing he does. He did not detect all the leaks -and has limited knowledge of plumbing. We decided to call Legacy plumbing after doing my research to fix the leak that never got taken care of! They are much more knowledgeable and charged about $1000 less than what ALD was quoting us to fix the 2nd leak.

We had Horacio Gonzalez come and try to pin point a leak in our bathroom. He basically spent about 2 minutes looking at our bathroom and said he found the VERY obvious leak and looked no more ( even though there was more leaking but whatever) charged us a CRAZY fee and made condescending remarks to me several times. Would never use this company again and I feel we would 100% taken advantage of. He literally did NOTHING and I spend hundreds of dollars.

Absolutely not. So we had called this company to come out and find where a leak was in our sprinkler system.  They came out and charged a few hundred dollars.  They marked the spot. So we called our sprinkler company to come fix the leak. Come to find out, there wasn't a leak there at all.  He spent hours trying to find it and he said in 30 years it has never taken him so long.  So that being said they were FAR from
Where the leak actually was.   So then we were charged $1000s due to how long it took him to find it.  My husband on various occasions have tried to contact this company to no avail.  It is fine if you make a mistake. Everyone is human, but then to not rectify it? I'm completely disappointed and disheartened. I would love to hear from them so they can rectify the situation.

I suggested these people to my mother in law and they did a great job. Very professional cleaned up after themselves honest quote found the leak and came to do the work and easy for us. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to you!

Accurately detected the location of my slab leak.  Tunneled under the foundation and repaired without disturbing our new hardwood floors.  Repaired April, 2015.  No issues with repair whatsoever 18 months later.

Have used them for other plumbing issues and have referred them to others.  100% positive experience.

This is in regards to a pool leak detection:  Just beware before hiring them that they cannot re-plaster or patch if you have pebble tech, they cannot provide leak detection on rock waterfalls, as they often require one of the rocks to come off, and they don't let you know what they can/can't do upfront.  I paid for the leak detection and had to hunt around to find someone to actually fix the problem.  Very disappointed.  They were nice, but just not upfront about what service they could/couldn't provide.  I assumed that if you were a leak detection place, you could fix my leak.

We recently had problems with our in-ground hot tub leaking.  Marcus Shoemaker came out, assessed the problem quickly and did a fantastic job of repairing during this searing heat.  Very respectful and highly professional.  We knew we had one leak, and he found a second.  He had to cut through our pool decking in two places.  He matched the aggregate perfectly, and the cuts he made were minimal.  We couldn't believe he could do what had to be done in such a small space.  2 days, and everything is running great.  Very fair pricing and excellent work!  Thanks, Marcus!

I appreciate their honesty and advice. I had a blockage in one of the sewage lines behind the wall. Called them up to have an inspection. Punctual and respectful.

Very awesome. Worked with Brian and Justin. They're very helpful and friendly. They've helped me get a claim out to our insurance company to cover the costs of the leak. If it wasn't for them i wouldn't have thought of that.

They discovered the leak beneath our concrete. The whole job came to about $1400 but insurance was able to cover the majority of it.

They are pretty honest folks as well. They don't try to bill everything. They're reasonable and they are a few plumbers that i can trust.

I had a suspected slab leak and contacted American up front. They quoted me $295 to locate  the leak, guaranteed.
When the technicians arrived, I explained my suspicions. They proceeded to run a test of the incoming water line and determined there was no leak. They did the same with the outgoing sewer line and also determined there was no leak. Total time - about 40 minutes.
Let's see, $295 for 40 minutes. I can hire most attorneys in DFW for less than that. If you use them, see if they will quote you a minimum fee for the initial tests.

The plumbers that come out and handle the jobs are pretty good but the lady that answered the phone to set up appointments is very rude. Denise. She has an attitude like she is so annoyed to deal with appointments or any questions. You know the type. She will expect you to know what is being done at your house when you are trying to communicate an appointment, so she doesn't have to look you up in the computer and if you aren't sure the correct terms then she gets annoyed. And last she is so rude to the plumbers when they call in. I was in the room when he called her about my payment, I had not received my claim check from the insurance and told him I didn't want to pay until I received it since they are the ones that got the work approved through the insurance. So the room was very quiet and I could here everything that was said. She says, what do you mean she doesn't want to pay, no she has to pay it's her responsibility !! Note that I wanted to pay right there $8000 but just wanted to pay the remaining $4300 with the check the insurance was supposed to have sent. So he explains and she refused to let me pay the first part. Only accepting the full amount. And going on and on about me having to pay right now. She really wouldn't even let him talk. So I said no I'm going to pay them with the check from insurance and that was it. So he was obviously a little embarrassed getting off the phone with her and leaves. I call my insurance and he says he has the check sitting on his desk because Denise never sent the final invoice. Wow! So I called the plumber and told him that and he said ok. Denise called my phone and left a rude email that I need to pay! I did not call her back. So the check came in and I next day shipped it to the business and that's the last time I will ever use this company . At an office level the customer service is horrible. No consideration for the homeowner and the stress they are already going through with insurance and extensive repairs. She could have shut her big mouth and just called the insurance as they had no problem calling them when additional funds were needed for addition repairs. You guys should really monitor her calls, her attitude isnt helping retain customers!

Wet happy with their service!  They came when scheduled.  They quickly found the leak and fixed it!  Cleaned up thoroughly after!  Very polite and courteous!

I'm the house manager for a property in north Dallas where American Leak Detection did a great job in not only detecting the leak(s), but repairing them as well.  The technician, Justin Sweetman,  was extremely professional, communicative and competent throughout the whole process.  After the leak was detected by Justin,  he outlined our options and then did an excellent job of managing the project himself, always delivering what he promised, and then some.  There were some unexpected turns, but he handled all smoothly, keeping me apprised at every step.  He also interacted very well with the homeowners, earning their confidence, which was a big plus.  I must also mention that the job entailed extensive tunneling under the slab and the excavation crew was equally professional, hard-working and got their portion done ahead of schedule.  I highly recommend ALD and Justin Sweetman.

Very positive experience with this company! We worked with Chase. He fixed two leaky pipes underneath our house by tunneling in from the outside. He pinpointed the leaks efficiently and charged much less than an estimate from another local plumbing company. He provided great customer service; walked us through everything, answered our questions thoroughly, and made a very unpleasant process easier to deal with. Highly recommend.

Most dishonest people ever. I asked and signed authorization for spa detection only and they charged me extra for pool and the then they lied about it. Stay away from these people at all cost. Very disappointed!

Called American Leak Detection regarding possible slab leak.   Justin Sweetman responded to my house and diagnosed the problem, very professional and knowledgeable.  He recommended tunneling under slab to mitigate interior damage.  He scheduled the two-day repair and was on-hand during the process to fix the problem.  I was impressed with Justin and his crew and they way they handled what turned out to be a complicated repair, still within the time he had estimated.  Justin was able to explain the repair process and reassure that the problem was solved.   They worked in conjunction with my insurance company, and that was a smooth process as well.   They offer a warranty on their work.  I feel very comfortable in giving them the highest rating possible and commend Justin Sweetman as a great company representative.

ALD Dallas Texas

ALD ran past their 1 hr appointment window.  No call regarding expected arrival time.  At 15 minutes beyond I called and inquired and was told technician had to make a stop and would arrive within 15-30 minutes.  After 30 minutes I called again and told the customer service rep that they had in essence cancelled this appointment as I could no longer wait for their arrival, 45 minutes after appointment window end and 1:45 after start.

Customer service is very poor in communication.  They should own setting the customer's expectation and strive to exceed.  I had to call and inquire twice about the no-show.  They also utilized an optimized scheduling program that optimizes their time and travel and not the customers needs in terms of scheduling time away from work.  I cannot wait 18 hours before you tell me my appointment is scheduled to in turn schedule my time away from work.  Their system doesn't schedule around your availability, you must schedule around what is deemed optimized and efficient for them.

From my one and only experience, it seems it more about ALD than the customer.  Too bad, as a rule I hear they do good work.  But, maybe I'm the exception.

I have used ALP in the past and was very satisfied. Brad, came out located the pool leak and fixed it in quick fashion and at a reasonable cost. Recently I contacted them again for another possible pool leak. Although they very busy, they found time for me. Trey came out and I was prepared for him to locate the leak and have plan to fix it. However, after doing some preliminary work he noticed the leak was due to my backwash regulator being slightly open. Simple fix! Instead of looking at a big expense, I paid a normal service charge. I can't express how important it is to work with a company that is honest and fair. Hopefully, who ever reads this won't have a pool leak, but if you do, American Leak Detection is the place to call. Thank me later!!

Just a great company to work with. I found the crew very honest and very reasonable in their rates, I would recommend them to my friends and family, good job guys.

Almost $500.00 for pool leak testing -- and they insisted I didn't have a leak.  Pool level dropped & had increased water bills.  They missed a MAJOR leak that another service located.  I called twice to discuss, but didn't get a return.

I ended up calling ALD on three separate occasions to fix the leak that I had in my pool.  The technician who came, Cody, indicated that he had found the pool and would be repairing it.  It wasn't cheap.  Several days after this, I noticed that water was still leaving the pool at the rate of 1-3 inches per day.  I called Cody and ALD back.  He did something else that should have fixed it, but after several weeks, I noticed that the problem hadn't been addressed.  Called, went back and forth with folks in leadership, before another individual (NOT Cody) came and indicated that it looked like NO work had been done.  He assured me that it had been fixed.  Although ALD claimed that there was a two-year warranty, I wanted the date of that warranty to be shifted to the day when it was FINALLY fixed.  They were not willing to do so.  I am not willing to deal with them again--EVER.

Not satisfied. They diagnose the underslab hot water leak but was a waste because we already knew where the hot spot was. Said only tunneling or break through slab repair possible (over $3500). Re-routing not possible. Legacy plumbing re-routing the pipes for $1700. So glad we got a second opinion.

For a number of months, I had been struggling to locate a leak that appeared to be coming from a sprinkler head in my yard. I used multiple sprinkler system services, water/sewer warranty services and city services, but no one seemed to be able to locate the leak despite replacement of sprinkler heads and 3 different valves. Finally, a new sprinkler service discovered that the leak was coming from under the foundation. I quickly contacted American Leak Detection and within a short time, Chase, the Leak Specialist, conducted the leak inspection/test and determined I had a leak under the slab in my master bathroom. Chase and a couple of his assistants returned to make the repairs. He did an exceptional job of explaining his findings and the status of work or issues that developed as repairs progressed. They were able to reroute the plumbing without going through the slab. Some complications arose due to the way existing lines were routed and this required some additional work, but Justin gave a detailed explanation as to why the work was necessary and was able to make the additional repairs. I was very impressed with their professionalism, the clean operation of the job, and the reasonable pricing. I highly recommend American Leak Detection to anyone needing leak detection or plumbing services.

A few weeks ago I got my water bill and it was about $80 higher than the past month so I shut off all the water in the house and checked the main meter and sure enough it showed water was running somewhere.

The next thing I did was call American Leak Detection because I had them out a couple of years ago to repair a water pipe leak under the slab in my house. Once they came to the house, within a couple of hours they had tracked down my problem, a water leak in our master bedroom. I didn't have any hesitation to just tell them to set it up for repair. I didn't shop around, I didn't check with any other people to price it out ... I just left it up to them.

Over the past 10 years I have had this company do two water leaks in the concrete floor of my house and fix a couple of problems on my pool plumbing and have always been really happy with the job they have done. While I did check some other people out the first time I used them, looking for the best price, I am glad that I choose them.

Both times they fixed the leaks in the house they had to cut through the concrete slab but they were really careful of the carpet, the furniture and there was little to no dust or disruption. They just did the job and they did it right. As far as I am concerned, they are the best around and they have earned my trust so that if I have a problem I know what I am going to get with them.

American Leak Detection was recommended to me, so I had them come out to check for leaks in my pool.  They checked the plumbing, then went into the pool to check around fixtures, jets and checked some cracks on the pool.  The inspector said the bad news was that the cracks were the source of the leak, but that NOTHING ELSE WAS LEAKING.  He said that the plaster was worn through and was due to be replaced since the pool would need to be drained to repair the cracks.  He recommended a contractor to do the plaster.  The two companies worked together to get both jobs done quickly.  Together, both jobs were very expensive, but were both done for the bid price.

After the pool was refilled, the filter system was on almost around the clock while the plaster cured.  I noticed a water loss and called ALD back out to check it out.  Upon re-inspection, I was told that there was, indeed, a plumbing leak -- under the deck in the area of one of the skimmers!  I thought all the leaks were supposed to be detected in the first inspection -- and they were supposed to have been found then.  The estimate to repair of the skimmer leak ranged from almost $1,000 to $1,750 depending on where the exact leak was found once they cut through my pool deck.  

Had I known about this plumbing leak, I may possibly have made different decisions on what I had done and when.  

On the plus side, they showed up when expected and the crack repairs seem to have been done well.

I had to do a mold remediation which required me to tear down and rebuild my kitchen cabinets and walls (over 10k worth of work).  Before doing so, I needed to confirm the leak was fix before construction.   American Leak Detection came out and and reported everything looked good so I went ahead with the tear down/rebuild.  After months of construction and finally putting EVERYTHING back,  I was upset to find that the leak was still there.  

I ended up getting another plumber who had to cut a hole on my new cabinets and confirm the source of the leak (an aged copper pipe).  Next I will  have to re-patch the hole.  American Leak Detection did not offer any help.

Hopefully, the last update. I just received a call from James that was verbally abusive, emotionally overwhelming, and loud. He stated it was unfair that I bashed them in a review and he will not do business with me again. That was a coincidence since I had not planned on doing business with them. It has been a learning experience but next time I would rather read the book. The End.

I honestly cannot say enough amazing things about American Leak Detection of Dallas. They were recommended to us from USAA to help with a slab leak in our home. Over the next several weeks, Marcus and his team, arrived on time, worked extremely hard and explained the process to me in a clear and kind way. Given that we were living in a construction zone with holes in our floor and tunnels under our house and a toddler running around, they worked so hard to get everything completed quickly and really took time to clean up every day. If you are looking for an honest company with a team of people who really care, I highly recommend American Leak Detection of Dallas.

I had an undetected pool leak, the leak was unseen but after 3 to 4 days very noticeable. ALD came out and listen to my pool decking with specialized equipment, then proceded to enter my water filled poolto continue his detecting.  1.5 hours he found it and quoted a repair price.  Good Job.
