Service Champions Heating & Air Conditioning Electrician
The phone number on my service contract says call 1 (888) I'm happy.  I am not happy.  I wanted to be happy.  I really wanted to love these guys. I wanted to recommend them to all my friends.  Unfortunately, they flaked on me.  I did what I was supposed to do.  I got multiple bids on my furnace replacement.  They were far from the cheapest.  In fact, they were astronomically high on the initial bid.  Ultimately, we negotiated down to a reasonable price when I showed them a lower bid.  I still ended up paying more than I anticipated,  but it was because they sold me with their service.  The initial representative was prompt, knowledgable, and professional.  He asked me what I needed from a contractor and told me they could deliver.  This was important to me since I have had some subpar experiences in the past. Maybe it is partially my fault for letting them schedule around Thanksgiving, but I kind of felt like they were pushing it on me...

First off, I have a fifty year old house.  That means there was asbestos.  Not a big deal these days, just have it removed.  They normally schedule the abatement the day before the install.  However, they wanted to do the install on the Friday after Thanksgiving.  Therefore, the abatement had to be on the Wednesday before.  They assured me the old furnace would still be usable for one day.  It was not.  The furnace was turned off for the abatement and it never turned back on.  I might add that this was coincidentally the coldest day of the year thus far.  My wife called Service Champions.  They sent a tech out at 4:30 pm.  He said we were lucky to be getting the furnace replaced as it needed a new motor and the repair would have been exorbitant.   The install was still 48 hours away and my house was 55 degrees.  He said they would normally loan us space heaters, but everybody has gone home already because of the holiday.  They told me they would reimburse me if I go buy space heaters (hasn't happened yet btw, not sure how to go about that), but it was now after 5pm.  My wife and I had family plans and warming your house with electric heaters is expensive and not really very practical.  We ended up involuntarily leaving the house for Thanksgiving.  When we returned, I felt like I was camping.  I could actually see my breath at night...and I was in my living room.

Friday comes, Thank God.  The install begins.  Six hours later and I can feel warm air.  The install team wants me to sign off and cut them a check.  My wife asks where is our new thermostat.  The one they install is not the one I agreed too when I signed the deal.  The tech says he will make a note, inform the office, and someone will make an appointment to install the correct one.  Why?  Your office is literally 5 miles away.  It is only 2pm.   You said it would only take a few minutes to install the correct one.  Why couldn't you do it that day.  I write the check anyway.

One week goes by. I hear nothing.  I call them myself.  The next day I receive a call saying they would like to finish the install with the correct thermostat.  I am told by Brandon that they will arrive between 3pm and 5...on a Friday.  Nobody shows up.  I call the office.  I am told the install team leaves for the night at 5pm.  I am told they will email the install team, but nobody will be available until Monday.  My wife thinks we are now a low priority because they already have our money.  She already wants to know why I chose them since they were by far not the cheapest bid.  When you call the number, one of the first things they say on the recording is we arrive when we say.  I have two children and not much free time.  I expect the cable company to flake, but not a company that sells me on their customer service.  Especially after I write them a very large check.

Maybe we are only talking about a thermostat, but frankly the whole experience was kind of stressful.  The main point for me was that I voluntarily paid a premium for good service and I don't feel like I got it.

Also, I have been on yelp for years and never taken the time write a review.  This was my first review because I was that annoyed.

Wong's Electric Electrician
Had Jun (owner) work on my property, referred him to many clients over the last few years. Even connected him with a general contractor who now uses him as his go-to electrician.  Every time I receive a thanks if I refer him. They always have a similar response: he was very easy to work with, personable, professional, and reasonable on cost...and don't let the name fool you, he speaks perfect English. I have no hesitation whenever someone asks: Do you know a good electrician? I tell them I have just the guy and give them Jun's number. I can always trust that he will treat his clients with respect, complete their job quickly, and ensure they are happy with his work!

Advanced Electrical & Telecom Electrician
Started out well enough.  Made an appointment, but they had to reschedule last minute.  Owner himself came over the next day and gave an honest assessment of the job, saying that we're better of doing time and materials instead of set quote, as it would save us money.  Struck us as honest enough and wanted to book him.

He promised to text us to set an appointment, but that's where the review fell off.  After at least two calls, texts, and emails each, they were totally non-responsive.  Turned out to be wasted time.

Service Champions Heating & Air Conditioning Electrician
This summer when I moved into my new home, my AC was not performing adequately and I called Service Champions to help diagnose and possibly replace my unit. David Daberdaku was assigned to my case and took the time to kindly explain and guide me thru his diagnosis. I felt when I was prepared to make a decision about the unit, I was informed and happy with my decision to replace. Service Champions were very flexible and worked with me to create a payment plan. I am thrilled with the replacement AC unit and furnace. They also offer regular maintenance at a very reasonable price point. Would definitely recommend their services!

Bay Area Construction & Remodeling Electrician
So far, I have had the need for Berkeley Home Repair, on two occasions.  I needed outdoor light fixtures installed and an electrical line removed from the floor where an island used to be situated.  The island was moved and the people that moved it, could not move/deactivate the electrical line.  Berkeley Home Repair (BHR, which I found on Yelp) sent over Daniel, the electrician.  He is an absolute delight. He deactivated the floor line and put it back under the flooring.  He made sure the outdoor lights were fitted on the stucco and was aligned correctly.  He made sure the light fixtures worked before leaving.  My second experience with BHR, (Damon and Trish) involved them coming over and installing my new range hood in the kitchen.  They did an excellent job with fitting it and even polished the stainless steel range hood before they left. Damon and Trish are both delightful!
Berkeley Home Repair is an excellent business with professional and experienced people.  I will recommend them with no hesitation and will continue to use them in the future.

General SF Electrician
Yevgeny was referred by a friend and I understand why she was very happy with his professionalism....even though our landlord decided to hire a family member to do the work my experience with Yevgeny was extremely positive and professional....he responded quickly and was genuinely concerned for our comfort and relayed his desire to handle the situation immediately....he advised me on how to approach the landlord and sent me a very thorough estimate to send to him....he was very flexible about making sure I had a choice in material and products that would fit our budget.... after spending time assessing the cost and sending me an initial invoice then an amended one based on our conversation he was gracious once he found out the landlord was trying to find a cheap way of handling the issue...what truly amazed me was his offer to do part of the work to insure some relief from the inconvenience for free!...in his words I want to be helpful, its not always about money...who in this time and age still has that type of care for his clients!

Ongaro And Sons Electrician
My water heater had been turned off while work was being done on my A/C installation yesterday.    It was now Saturday of the Memorial Day weekend and no hot water.    Called Ongaro and they sent out Kevin Speaker to help me out.  He was there within an hour and got everything going.   He also made an adjustment to clear a tap that was being crowded.  This had been that way for quite a while.   I am very impressed by the service and friendliness of the Ongaro employees.   Thank you, Kevin.

Adary Electric Electrician
A little over a year later we needed Adary Electric to fix a canned ceiling light.  This year we had another canned ceiling light problem and a door bell and outside backyard light that needed fixing.

Once again amazing service.  Freeman was our electrician and he did a great job.  Between Freeman and Victor who work at Adary Electricians you cannot go wrong.  Reasonable, reliable, knowledge and superb service.
