I contacted a highly rated electrician from another company.  He had to cancel because of an emergency (I get it), but was sadly hard to pin down when it came to rescheduling.

The next electrician I call was available a week from never.

So I called Gen 3, suspecting it might be on the pricey side. And it is. But I can't say enough good things about their customer service and our electrician, Stan, who came immediately and spent a day installing new fixtures. He was cordial, knowledgeable, thoroughly professional--and he lit up our lives.

You get what you pay for.

I used Greg Avakian twice, but didn't join Yelp until now, so I'm giving one review.

The first time, he added a dedicated line for my home office, to run my computers from. I loved the fact that he colored coded the plates, which makes it easy to remember which four outlets are for computers, and which 8 are for general usage (yes... this is a real office in my home).
The work was performed in a timely manner, everything promised was delivered, and the room was immaculate when he was done (rarely seen by other contractors).

I was so happy, than when we made the decision to upgrade our service and replace the electrical panel, the choice of which contractor to use was simple - Greg.
This was a much more complex job, and again Greg shone. The work was completed on budget, in the time frame promised, and perfectly done. The garage was cleaner than when he came in - which was a nice bonus :)

I very strongly recommend Greg Avakian for any electrical needs. He was professional, courteous, polite, and an absolute pleasure to deal with. He answered every question we had, providing very clear and understandable explanations. This was probably the first time I dealt with a contractor who was so incredibly NICE to work with. In the past I've had to deal with some people who may have delivered good work, but were gruff and uncommunicative. Greg encouraged communication between us - I will only use him for any future work.

Larry and his sons are reliable and deliver what they promise. They show up on time on the appointment date and give a quote the same day. They quoted me $325 for 3 tasks that needed to be done. They showed up the following day and took 1.5 hours to finish. One task was to replace a ceiling fan. Apparently the old one did not have a box to secure to the ceiling so they installed it for free. They don't go outside the quoted amount. Also if you pay cash, they will give you a discount.

These are the guys to go with. I lucked out finding them. They communicated well throughout the entire process which is a rarity in the business and showed up on time. They completed prompt and professional work and we're very informative and knowledgable.  Mike/mark I forgot the name sorry did a great job installing new ceiling bracket and ceiling fan. Very reasonable price and was able to fit me in their busy schedule with little notice.  My wife will be so pleased to see finish product. Will definitely be dealing with them again.

One receptacle in my kitchen went dead and an electrician repaired it.  I tested it later with a radio and it did not work.  The electrician revisited but couldn't figure out the problem since the receptacle's little green light and other factors relayed that everything was fine.  He decided to check out the electrical box in the basement (should have done that on the first visit) and discovered that two or three busbars (also written as bus bars) were cracked and bent in two or three places (maybe evidence of some former electrician forcing non-fitting breakers into the slots), which made the whole box dangerous and may explain why the electricity wouldn't function properly at that outlet.

To replace the electrical panel, circuit breakers and for labor, his charge was $1970.  I got a second opinion on cost at a small company, JDV Electric (three trucks, established 2005), only one minute away, which worked at my next door neighbors yesterday, and she loved their work.  The owner of this second company pointed out the flaws of the first company:

1.  The recommended replacement electrical panel the first company chose was the cheapest one that could be purchased, with aluminum busbars rather than copper and a limit of 18 rather than 30 breakers.

2.  No permits were pulled according to the contract and, thus, an insurance company would not pay if there is an electrical fire.  (A neighbor's house burnt to the ground a couple years ago due to an electrical fire; they were on vacation.)

3.  No whole-house surge protector would be installed according to the contract.  (This company installs one.)

4.  No guarantee was written into the contract.   (This company gives three years for failure of parts and a lifetime labor guarantee for installation.)

5.  There was no inspection of the gray electrical cable attached to the rear of the house.  My neighbor just had her cable replaced because over 80 years the cable's sheathing had deteriorated and allowed water to seep into the cable and panel--and sealing it at possible rain entrance parts doesn't deal with a deteriorating sheathing problem.  Mine, he said, was in similar shape--all due to age, sun and weather.  (The replacement of parts includes replacement of the gray, thick electrical cable.)

7.  This company will ground all wires as well as water pipes, which helps avoid problems from a lightning strike--sort of a ground lightning rod.

8.  My new service plan will transfer to a new buyer.

9.  No future service fee to me beyond this initial $49 assessment.

10.  A complimentary one-year Safety and Savings Plan Membership (see company for details), though not all customers will agree to purchase at $125/year.

The first electrician, who did not keep the agreed-upon appointments for this problem, did not call and finally did come 1.25 hours late for the last rescheduled appointment with no apology, was upset that I went with a competitor and wanted to know the second company's cost so he could make a counter-offer.  My thought was, Why didn't you give me your best offer in the beginning?  I did not answer his email inquiry.

Yes, the second company is much more expensive, but only a little more when comparing apples with apples, i.e., replacing the electrical panel.  The first company's total charge for replacing only the electrical panel and circuit breakers was $1970.  JDV Electric's (remember, it is doing more than just replacing the electrical panel) is around $2200.  But when adding the replacement of the exterior cable, it comes to a total of $4454.  I am shocked, of course, but I and some savvy friends think the second proposal is better.  

When this job is done I will edit this review to report negatives, if any.

This company is so professional and knowledgeable. I had them installed my EV charging station and later ceiling lights. They were fast and clean. Also my neighbor used them. We both got everything done at a reasonable pricing. Definitely highly recommended

The experience with FMJ Electrical was exceptional from the start. A wonderful person answering the phone, smart and efficient. It was an emergency and they arrived so fast. Frank was very professional , his shirt was so clean and pressed. First impressions are everything! Frank and his crew fixed the electrical service in hours. His crew was well prepared, qualified and knowledgeable and they also recommended a inspector to come out to do a complete inspection for PECO. Everyone is so personable. Work ethics are top notch!!! I work as a Building Supervisor for a non-profit in Camden, so GE Eletrical's prices and rates are great Divija is professional, reliable, does great work,  and is great at communicating and being flexible. I will definitely be reaching out to him again for contract work.

I needed a home EV charging set up and FAST.  Charles was super responsive when I was looking to schedule an estimate (he came out the next morning), gave an excellent estimate, and was more than flexible with scheduling the work.
Initial contact Thursday afternoon, estimate Friday morning, and work completed Tuesday (Charles and Julian were willing to do the work on Friday morning, but I was shopping other estimates before making my decision).
The work was done exactly to the specifications, no mess left after work was completed, and he added in a clever receptable protector because he thought it would be good - at no additional cost.
Charles and Julian worked from 2:15-8:30 pm (!) and didn't leave until they were sure that my husband and I were satisfied and my car was charging.
I would highly recommend DunnMaster Electric for any electrical needs.
Charles is a motivated young man working hard to build his customer base, and he's gained a new one today!

PG came out to restore power to our doorbell. They replaced the transformer quickly and without issue. They were right on time, professional, and did good work at a good price. Also good communication

I'd call them....amazing. The tech was very professional, knew exactly what to do, and completed the job. The cost was quite reasonable, as well. Our tech, Hector, arrived exactly when we were told. The team at Thomas Edison were really nice and easy to talk with. So, yeah, amazing.

Very proactive as they came out to service the day after I left a message. I would recommend them to anyone!

Service was fast and the electrician was knowledgeable and thorough in diagnosing and resolving several wiring issues in my older home.

The Yelp community came through again! I used the message a project Yelp function to EP Electric for an outdoor electrical outlet problem. EP Electric responded within the time they said they would, and then called when scheduled two days later for a consultation.

I gave another description of the problem, and Andi informed me of the initial cost to come out and advised me of the Yelp coupon which I had known about. Anything above that cost would be discussed before the work would be done.

I made an appointment to have EP Electric come out, and Andi and his assistant showed up as scheduled. His communication beforehand to come to my house also was very good.

Fortunately for me, my problem was easy for Andi to resolve and the breaker only needed replacing. The whole thing was done in less than 30 minutes right before a super-drenching downpour. Good thing since it was an outdoor plug problem!

I'd highly recommend EP Electric. Very good communication and quick service. The right way to do business.

Rock solid team.  Rod came out for the estimate and we talked through several ideas.  They had no issue with the revising the estimate based on changes we made.  Scheduling was quick.

Stephen and Brandon came for two days worth of work and were excellent to deal with.  They worked well as a team and moved quickly.  They were both very knowledgeable, took excellent care of the house while they worked, and cleaned up very well both days.  They had great attitudes and are full of positivity.

This team will be my new go-to!

Strickland Electric installed my ceiling fan. I am very pleased. They gave me the white glove treatment from start to finish, protecting floors and furniture. They were prompt and efficient. Attention to detail is their specially. Also I loved how they explained things to me and even went over with me about my other electrical issues I have to address in my home. Yes, I would recommend them.

Had a simple kitchen light fixture and light switch replacement job.  Alba answered my call right away, provided an estimate within an hour, and had the job done within three hours of my call.  Everyone was courteous and professional.  I'll be calling back for other issues in the future.

Love this company and the two staff electricians that were dispatched to my home. I was pretty nervous to contact an electrician from an online google search, but I was pleasantly surprised. They were honest, fast, explained well and repaired shoddy electrical work that I had done.
