Best Gas Water Heater Installation in Austin TX
Mr. Carlos Gonzales was the service technician assigned to do my new (June 2014) A/C/Heating system's heat check. I received a call much earlier than expected and was offered the earlier time although I was then at an appointment across town. The person calling was gracious and said that my tech would arrive as previously scheduled, but I would still receive a call 30 prior to arrival, which I did. Mr. Gonzales was courteous, identified himself prior to entering the house, was a wealth of information about my system. He explained in advance what he would be checking and how he would be doing it. Step by step he checked in with me explaining at which stage he was at. I could not be more pleased with this appointment. It represents another superb example of customer service which is not always found in large operations nor in service companies, in my past experience. He knew his stuff, explained it to me in language that made sense without making me feel like a feeble old crone. Respectful, low key manner, friendly but above all, knowledgeable and efficient.

I appreciate the quick response time. I received a quote and within 40 minutes they were in my house unclogging my sink.
They explained everything they were doing and were very professional.

One of our heat pumps broke down during the hottest part of July. I called several companies and Efficient was the first to call back. They were able to get a technician out later that day. The bill ended up being much less than expected. While he was here the technician (Ernest) noticed that we had condensation from the A/C dripping secondary drain lines under the eaves. He checked the air handlers inside the house, replaced the air filters, and cleared the clogged primary condensation drains. We ended up buying a maintenance contract so we can have them come out later this year and make sure that everything is working well at no additional charge. Overall, I was very pleased with their responsiveness, the work they performed, and the price charged. We will use them again and I would definitely recommend them to others.

I wouldn't call Danny Tierney a handyman, although there is almost nothing he can't do ... I call him a craftsman. I've used many excellent contractors and handymen over the years, but no one comes close to the level of professionalism, passion and talent that Danny has. He replaced some windows for me. Carefully measured once, came again to check before ordering, removed the old ones without damaging the walls, took the new windows apart to prime, paint, and put on the hardware. He removed every bit of weather stripping just so his paintbrush could get into every nook and cranny and rebuilt them, stained and beautiful and installed them with such care and meticulous attention to detail, it blew my mind. He stays as late as he needs to get the job done, no clocking off at 5pm. And each day after he's done, there's no trace he's been, he cleans everything up and removes his work station. Danny couldn't do a shoddy job if he tried, he won't rest until he's figured out what needs to be done and executed it to absolute perfection. Selfishly I don't want others to know about him, but if you can get A List know you're in an exclusive club with a fabulous secret ... hands down, the best handyman in town!

I called this business because of the positive yelp reviews. My experience was not positive! In fact I feel very taken advantage of by 1st Plumbing. I was told on phone there would be a $50 service charge applied to work done. (Fine, no problem.) When they got here, there was also a $150 trouble shooting fee. Told parts were under warranty but labor cost would be almost $500 and there would be another additional $150 charge to go get the parts needed. So $800 and service charge wasn't even applied to the total! I didn't authroize the transport of parts or the labor, but had to pay the $200 in service and trouble shooting charges. I then called someone else. They were here within an hour, had parts on the truck, and my entire charge was $138. And the best part? What 1st Plumbing said was wrong wasn't even the problem....
I contacted 1st Plumbing twice to see if they wanted to rectify the problem by refunding the $150 trouble shooting charge (and I would be fine paying the $50 service charge). I wasn't even given the courtesy of a response. You would think their professional reputation would matter to them, but apparently not enough to discuss the incident with an unhappy customer. I would continue to go without hot water next time rather than give them another chance.

Swindlers! Get a second quote on anything they do. They upsold me on products I didn't need and overcharged for them. They lied about my home being out of code and used fear tactics about the safety of my family. Shame on me for being fooled.

Never ever trust a repair company that pays their employees off commission. The more they sell you, the more they get paid. Which is the beginning of the problems we had with Jon Wayne.
AC broke - that happens. They responded within 24 hours - dumb me, believed the trucks and TV commercials. But the technician oversold my wife $1200 in repairs. Which lasted a week (and my system is not old and we have it serviced regularly).
I was home when the second crew came. They would not wear COVID masks until I asked. They spent an hour determining it was a switch in the inside unit - $2400 to repair. I asked how - said it was very labor intensive. Well, turns out the crew that installed that unit three years ago let me help (they were too busy to come the first time). The whole thing took 3 hours. Absolutely outrageous quote unless you remember they work on commission only. So I asked for replacement costs - basic system $7500 and top of the line was, drum roll, $21,000. I asked if it came with a new roof, they looked confused. And I sent them away. I'll put wet towels over fans and stay cool until I can get someone else here.
If you missed it at the front of this review - NEVER trust a repair company that pays their employees off commission. They will mark up your service and sell you stuff you don't need.
Fun fact - my wife is a realtor with one of the largest brokerages in the area. She has a good HVAC story for her clients now.
