Best in Houston TX
Yelp's localization does a disservice to contractors since the best of the best probably don't live in your immediate neighborhood.
John Henshaw and his crew qualify as the best of the best. Plus, he's a master electrician. (see tiny.cc/jhenshaw)
Now, let's be honest, We all want the most for our pennies and we may think that hiring a handyman to install simple things like fans make economic sense. Think again. Hiring a licensed electrician is not that much more (Last i checked Henshaw Electric charged $150 per fan; the half-wit handyman I hired through craigslist charged $100 per fan. SInce I had to get Henshaw to re-hang said fan it actually cost me $250), He also grounded all the plugs in & around my computer and installed a surge suppressor in the electric box to safeguard all my stuff.
And yes, a licensed guy will charge a few bucks more but they are worth every penny. I can sleep at night knowing my fan or stove or whatever isn't going to burst into flames.

Ramon Umana and his crew are professionals. I am completely satisfied with this recent work: replace regular duplex receptacles with tamper resistant receptacles at dining, living and upstairs bedrooms; relocate fan switch in bathroom, add switch in attic, add receptacle in attic, replace switches in upstairs compute closet, bathroom and outside laundry; add gfci receptacle at kitchen; install disconnect for water heater; install gfci at outside back door and inside and outside laundry room. Whew!

Double Diamond was a pleasure to deal with. Billie Vaughn does top notch work and I will use him anytime I get the opportunity. Highly recommended.

Totally professional. Timely, thorough, fair pricing - explained everything prior to doing the work. I had them do more work than I had planned, because i was that impressed.

Quick response. Showed up when they said they would. Found the problem and fixed it. Also, cheaper diagnostic fee than others in the area. Can't ask for much more than that.

Phillip was extremely helpful and went above and beyond to assist me with all my questions for the electricity in my new house. Highly recommend him and I will definitely be using him in the future!!

I have used Rubio Electric many times and consistently gotten great customer service. It's run very professionally. I always get a quick callback from the owner, Justin, and he always gets over to help quickly. He is polite, follows up to make sure everything is ok, cleans up, sends a clear, professional invoice, and has never failed to do anything but excellent work. I recently needed some work and not only did he promise a start time, I got a confirmation phone call and text confirming it. This time two of his employees came. They confirmed their arrival, were polite, clean, extra helpful, gave me additional clear instructions for what I needed to do, and were very nice and friendly - and professional - to deal with. If only more contractors could do the same. Justin and his team installed Ring devices (some walls had to be opened up), and did other interior work. I will always use and recommend them in the future.

Shane was great and really worked within my budget. I had his guys add some outdoor electrical outlets, fans, and more. They Ensured it was water tight, used good materials and followed code. I appreciate the hard work his guys did, they were here until 8:30PM to ensure they completed the job, and did it right! I'll be using Murphy's electric again.

I dealt with Ralph at REM electric and was so impressed with his customer service. Highly recommend Ralph and REM electric for their expertise, professionalism and ETHICAL approach to business. They helped us with our back up generator. VERY REASONABLE. I made the mistake of calling 2 other electricians, before I finally found REM. Learn from my mistake.

Christmas Day, a few months after Hurricane Harvey my wife reported we had standing water on top of the septic tank lid. The septic company said the lift pump wasn't working because the GFI outlet had been underwater during the hurricane. I called Matt at Outlet Electric based on the previous review on Yelp, first company I spoke to also. I told him I wasn't in a hurry to get the plug replaced but needed him to come take care of it some time. He volunteered to come out right away if I really needed it. I said no and booked an appointment later. His guys were timely, very nice, extremely professional and got the job done quickly. I received an email invoice that was very fair for the work done and the travel time required to get to my house. I like to work with local people, these guys are local to me. My impression was that these guys know what they are doing and are professional. I would highly recommend their services!!! They just seem to be good regular people trying to do a professional job at a fair price.

Amazing is what I would say. Always on time and doesn't over charge you for things you don't need.
He is honest and able to help out with anything you need. Very friendly and willing to show you what he is doing or why.

I just wanted to thank everyone again for the excellent experience I had using your company for the 1st time. I called another company initially who said it would be 2 weeks before they could come out. I then remembered seeing your ad in the Heights newspaper.
On my initial call I went over what I needed done (fix/replace 5 under cabinet puck lite sets w/3 easy to replace fluorescent type lites and 2 recessed lites).
UW set a time for 3 workdays later to meet me at my house; they called 30 mins. ahead of our appointment so I could meet them on our scheduled time (11-1).
My UW technician was very pleasant, prompt, not pushy, and patient w/my questions. After our initial discussion of what I wanted done, he assessed everything and even provided a 40 pt. whole house/electrical box inspection to further provided me w/information of what he suspected may be problem areas in my home already - which I knew I had. After 40 mins. he wrote up 3 proposals and prices from his inspection and my to-do list.
I selected one of the 3 on his list and he went right to work. Of course I did not pick the best proposal, which included possible problems that could arise in the future but again there was no high sales pressure from him, which I appreciated very much. And to UW's credit they gave me a copy of the proposals for future reference so I may call them back and finish everything up at my convenience.
After 2.5 hours the job was completed to my satisfaction. On my drive back to work that afternoon, I received a followup call (to my surprise) and was asked how things went and was there anything else that they could do for me. I gave the caller a stellar report on his employees, thanked him for all of their help and relayed that in this day and age it is wonderful to find true customer service skills being relayed though out a whole company -- all 3 people I dealt with were the best I've had the pleasure/experience with in a long time.
Thanks again!

They came out quickly and told me in advance of the cost. They fixed my problem quickly and did it all on a Saturday. Will definitely call them again.

This poor old guy really should just stop and enjoy his retirement. I would be surprised if his license is current. REALLY SURPRISED! and VERY DISAPPOINTED in the licensing procedure & requirements.
Our experience was EXACTLY as everyone has said! We used this company because our Realtor recommended him! (Someone didn't do her due diligence!!!)
THERE WAS NOTHING PROFESSIONAL ABOUT ANY OF MY ENCOUNTERS WITH CHARLIE.
I had sent 3 emails explaining that we wanted a quote on some items picked up during the home inspection on a property we are in the option period to buy. I asked in bold letters whether the quote was free or whether the fee would be applied towards the work. He never replied to any of my emails. He had trouble finding the first one, which is why I sent & re-sent the same information. He asked me to email him so he'd have all the details in writing. I attached the inspection report each time.
When I reached him by phone Thursday afternoon, he thought he could come out the next day. He never called. When I called him Saturday, he thought he might be able to make it, but didn't. He was very hard to pin down on time, so I sent him an email saying that we'd go ahead with his suggestion of meeting on Sunday afternoon at 2pm, and I wrote in bold letters that he should contact us if his plans changed. He left me a message at noon saying that he'd need to push the job back a bit. I called back at 1pm and left a message. He never called back. When I reached him at 2:15, he was out to dinner with his family. We releashed the Realtor's assistant, waiting at the house since 2pm.
Our option period ends tonight at midnight. Charlie and his right hand man finally showed up -- late -- this afternoon and bumbled around for hours. There is a very entertaining video of them taking forever to replace a GFCI outlet with the power on! It's as though neither of them had never seen -- or worked with -- live current before! (Charlie claims he is a master electrician!)
Despite my list of items, which included checking a light over the stairs, Charlie showed up without any ladders or extension grippers and was wearing casual attire, not work clothes.
When the bumbling finally ended, Charlie claimed he had conducted an inspection. He had not, and he had not been asked to. His bill was $450, and all he had done -- literally, all he had done -- was 1) call out the color of the recessed light canister in the ceiling (our Realtor's assistant knew silver canisters were OK against insulation, but Charlie didn't), 2) entertain us by replacing that GFCI outlet and 3) change that light bulb over the stairs by use of some creative acrobatics. I wrote him a check for $250, and he left disgusted. I think he got off easy! I should have called the cops on him for representing himself to be an electrician!
