Best A/C Installation in Virginia Beach VA
So Barry and Vincent just left and I have to say I couldn't be more pleased... I had sewage backing up in my laundry room from the washing machine drain. I was hoping they would just snake the line and call it a day but nothing is ever that easy... Took them 2 hours to clear the pipes as they were completely clogged with grease and gunk! Eventually I have to replace the cast iron with PVC so I will be calling back, but the blockage is clear and the price for what they did today was very reasonable! Thanks again guys!

Jason's an awesome guy and offers a fair price. Had him come and diagnose a leak in my house. Come to find out it was an HVAC issues. But he explained everything to me clearly so I was able to understand what was going on and also recommended an HVAC guy who came and resolved the issues. Jason was responsive and communicated with my the time he was available. Will definitely be contacting him again it I have any other issues.

Called Roto Rooter to repipe an office trailer bathroom that has exactly 2 fixtures (toilet & sink) in a totally exposed area - so no having to cut through walls or anything else. When I asked a cost he couldn't (wouldn't?) commit but when I asked Over $500 he said maybe a little.. So the $1200 bill was a surprise. I called their office and the lady I spoke to verbally agreed to split the difference and we were going to pay $850...but alas, the new person comes along and says that no, it took him 6 hours to do this work, we have to pay $1200. Now bear in mind, we are talking about a 6' length of cpvc, a 90' turn, 2' of pipe, 2 Ts up to the sink, another 3' a T to the toilet. That's it. And at no time did I get a call saying hey, there's a problem here, it's going to cost more $$$. Where I come from 225% is more than a little more. I feel like we are being billed for his learning curve and because I am 400 miles away so I can only do so much.
I've also reached out to the Corporate website...BBB next... DO NOT USE THEM WITHOUT GETTING EVERYTHING IN WRITING AND DOCUMENTING EVERY SINGLE THING.
UPDATE 8/2/2016
MANAGEMENT REACHED OUT AND HAS AGREED TO ACCEPT THE $850. Historically they had done good work for us but this particular time was a mess. We will continue using them but I will be sure everything is via email to cover us (and them).

At this point I am satisfied with the Performance of the work! This was the only company that I actually got a real person answer upon calling. Seth was on the way within 10 minutes of the call. He came and quickly got to work with his assistant. They wore shoe covers and were very neat with their work, cleaning up afterwards. (Not that there was a mess ). The only thing that does not make this a 5 star is the cost. I thought it was kinda steep but then I needed them and they were the only response.
I would call them again though.

We had a pipe break next to the water meter the night of a snow in the area. We called the city who came out and looked, they said the pipe was on our side, and after trying to fix it ourselves we needed a plumber. The one we called Friday night wasn't going to be able to get out til Monday morning. Meanwhile we had no water. Saturday morning we weren't going to wait and called A1. They were out within an hour.
It took one young man an hour and a half on his knees in the snow. He took a break to go to the hardware store for parts since the standard 3/4 pipe didn't want to fit. It ended up around 2 hours with the store trip. It was under $300 and we're extremely grateful. It could of been much worse. I was ready to get a hotel for a couple days and still pay a plumber. But A1 were nice on the phone and able to diagnose and quickly fix the problem in bad conditions, that day!

Buyer beware - they charge over $400/hour for labor. For a company as well known and as reputable as American Mechanical, we had higher expectations for their level of service.
There is a high end AC unit in our home, still covered under warranty, installed by American Mechanical only 3 years ago. Our AC went out Monday, 6/28. We asked for a quote on diagnostic fee before we had them come out, it was reasonable around $80-90. Technician came out that afternoon, troubleshooted, cleared the lines and replaced the Thermostat (covered under warranty). Our verbal quote went from around $300 to around $700 after more diagnosing, to exactly $1,469.00 when we saw it in writing. The tech left with the intent of returning the following day to replace an ACF board. An hour after the tech left, our AC cut off. This tell us the work he did, was not the root cause of the issue. On 6/29 he returned to replace one part (ACF Board - also covered under warranty) for an additional $286.50 in labor. He assured us the unit was functioning at 100%. To date, we've paid $1,755.50 for an AC unit that is covered under warranty. An hour after the tech left on 6/29, the AC cut off again - telling us the root cause was never found. Since Monday, 6/28 we have been asking for an itemized invoice outlining parts vs. labor and they have refused to provide since this isn't something they do so we don't know what exactly we've paid for.
We had another company come out Wednesday, 6/30 for a second opinion; from the beginning, they called Trane Tech Support to troubleshoot (something American Mechanical never did). All HVAC techs have repeatedly said our unit is high end, high tech so I appreciate the new company going straight to the source instead of executing trial and error at our expense. This new company was able to solve the issue in half the time for half the price and our AC has been working fine ever since.
Since American Mechanical never solved the problem and we've paid them nearly $1,800 for we're not sure what, we have repeatedly called since 6/28 for the following: (1) an itemized invoice, (2) photos indicating WHY the thermostat and the ACF Board needed to be replaced and (3) a manager willing to accept accountability. We have received none of these things. It is 7/4 and we still haven't heard from the service manager. They are now avoiding our calls (manager always seems to be busy when we call), not returning our messages and we're simply pleading for them to do what is right.
I'm happy to adjust my review if they hold themselves accountable. While they have several positive reviews, there's a chance this could also happen to you. Save your money and trust us when we say TAKE YOUR HVAC BUSINESS ELSEWHERE. They're capable of doing this to anyone else.

This review is for their storefront only, not plumbing service at my house.
The salespeople they have in their store are so much more knowledgeable than your standard Home Depot/Lowes employee that it is not even comparable. I brought in a random trim piece that I had removed from my shower and the gentleman at the counter had found the match in his book within seconds. When I had previously brought the same piece to Lowes, they recommended I try here.
So, I give 4 stars to their salesroom for having knowledgeable, helpful employees.

Once again your company came to my rescue! My brother was scheduled to help me winterize but he got sent to OK. My hubby is in the hospital in FL so I called your office. Sarah explained all the details and gave me a quote. JOE arrived at the house Sunday, called me and did the work. I know I can always count on your company to be there when needed! Thanks for helping me out!

The were sent to us by our warranty company paid from our power bill to replace a bad water heater. They came on Friday night to assess the situation, replaced the water heater on Monday morning. Excellent job, very professional, timely, and courteous. I had totally the opposite experience from the previous review. Good job!

Very unprofessional. Called and schedule an estimate for Saturday. Plumber was 15 minutes late and didn't even complete the estimate. Halfway through the walk through he said we needed to find someone else and walked out without explaining why or apologizing for wasting our time.

They do not do work up to code, steal tools and personal property and never finish a job that they are paid for. Jason and Melissa are both con artists. They were paid in full for a job and didn't even complete it. On top of stealing over 1k of items from the home. The owner of the trailer is not happy, never was. Took them to court and they never showed but were quick to file bankruptcy to clear the judgement.
Funny that 2 of the reviews are from Melissa Bond herself.
