Very impressed - if you have a water heater issue Stan the hot water man is the company to reach out to.  I requested non emergency service and they responded the following morning.  I had an issue where the status light showed there was a thermostat well issue.  When I called around most companies said the best fix is to get a new one.  Not these guys - Kenny was able to quickly identify what may be wrong and told me the cost of the options depending on what could be wrong.  He showed up on time and as he explained the previous day it was a 25$ part that needed replacing.  He was also careful to mop up some water that had spilled while working.  Its nice to see a company that tries to fix something rather than suggest to replace it without any proper reasoning.

If only I had known about Stan The Water Heater Man along time ago!!!  

I cannot be more impressed with the service that they provided.

I bought my last two water heaters from George Morlan and called them yesterday for advice  after explaining the situation and my error code and they recommended a new water heater and gave me a price that gave me a little sticker shock.  

Then I called Jacobs Heating and Air and they said they are booked a few weeks out for installation and  they recommended Stan The Water Heater Man.

I had a callback within minutes after calling them with a tech (Ian) that listened to my issues and without hesitation,   informed me that he thought I could fix it and extend the life on my water heater for many more years.

Ian and Matt came out today and explained what the issue was and replaced the necessary parts. They were  very good showing me the parts that failed as well as showing me the new parts.

My water heater is functioning like new for about $200!!! Which is significantly less than what they originally quoted me over the phone without inspecting the water heater. How often does that happen?!?  

I am totally impressed and one happy customer!

The water heater at our home started leaking- and it was not just a leak. More like a waterfall! Pretty bad. Fortunately, I caught it early... lucky! No water damage.

We are a multigenerational household with elderly and kids, hot water is an indispensable necessity. I had to troubleshoot as fast as possible. I asked my neighbors to recommend a plumber, and collected a good amount of phone numbers. Started calling... Some plumbers were responsive, but told me they're extremely busy, sorry. Others never picked up their phones.

I did notice that one specific business was recommended by a large number of neighbors. So I thought... maybe I should give this Stan the Man a try. And you know what? GLAD I DID!

This is a small family company, local. And it works like a very well oiled machine. Super efficient. I first spoke to the lady who picks up the calls, and she understood I'm having a bit of an emergency, so she quickly connected me to one of the techs, Jesse. He is super responsive, both via phone and text. We were able to discuss the situation, and diagnosed the problem pretty efficiently before he even showed up with the solution. We determined that my heater is sadly EOL, so it was unwise to spend anymore money to repair it. And since it was a bit of a specialized type, slightly higher tier than what's on sale at Home Depot and the likes, Jesse was able to recommend a solution that still didn't break my bank. I have a family to run and this was not a planned repair, it caught me by surprise.

Anyway, merely a day after I spoke with Jesse, I now have a really good water heater unit: fast and with a 10 years warranty. The heater was quickly and competently installed. In addition to being super efficient, Jesse was also generous with his time, explaining to me some aspects of the heater's operation and installation. And it was very clear to me since the very beginning that I can trust him. One of the best and most straight forward processes I've had so far with a contractor.

As we were wrapping up, I was asking Jesse if his company is able to maybe also help replace an AC or furnace. Jesse explained that, in order for the company to operate smoothly, they made a choice to specialize in heaters only. And it made perfect sense to me! I'm writing this review because I felt compelled to give Jesse and his company a praise. It's a very well deserved one.

Scott is a true professional and a master of his craft. He has come out to our house twice, when we had considered what we had a large problem. Both times, he was able to diagnose something much more simple than we had thought, and for a fair price.

The last time he was out, we were talking about replacing our entire hot water heater, but he had an idea that might make our current one last a little bit longer. He spent a good amount of time working with me to diagnose the issue, and while it being something not common, he was 100% correct with his understanding of the issue.

We will be working with Scott again when we are ready to replace and overhaul our hot water system. I just wished we had more people like Scott working on stuff at our house.

Hot water went out on a Friday morning and they were able to come out Friday afternoon to diagnose the problem. Turns out the water heater needed to be replaced and they couldn't fix it until the following day (Saturday) which I'm totally fine with. They were quick about it and responsive.
What I'm not fine with is that they left all the doors open along with the light on under the house on Friday. I didn't notice until Friday night so door was open and light was on all day. Luckily no critters got under there from what I can tell. Then Saturday they replaced the water heater. Everything works except they left the door open AGAIN. Very unprofessional imo. They also didn't turn the water back on to the hose and couldn't tell us over the phone how to get it back on. Now they can't come out again for another week and a half to turn the water on. Unprofessional company and would not recommend.

I can't say enough amazing things about STAN THE WATER MAN.  i was having a terrrible time trying to find a company for a water heater installed  (talked to 5 people from a local large home business well known to all of us mind you) that were unrealible to do same day service. Got such a run around for 2 days.  Stans company was highly recommended to me by Trane Heating Co. in Aloha.  I was so desperate, so I called them. HALLELUJAH
A remarkable service man named Kenny came within a couple of hours installed a new water heater and the price very reasonable.  I   HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY.

I purchased my house last year, and soon discovered the entire house are in need of repair/replacements; such as the roof, windows, toilets and etc. The latest development was the hot water heater. It's been here since 2000, and it finally died.

By the time i discovered the massive leak, i panicked and tried to find anyone who can cone asap! I went online And found 3 different companies. One never reply, one said they were booked til next week, the third one said they no longer serviced hot water tank; but is willing to recommend Stan the hot water man.

Since there's no time to waste, i called Stan right away. A lady answered the call, and I explained the situation quickly. She ensured me a technician in my area will give me a call and drop by today. That was a great relief and calm my anxiety immediately!

Kenny came over to inspect the situation, and ordered a new hot water tank right away. I downgrade from 50 gallon to 40 gallon, knowing the small one can handle 5-6 ppl with no problem. I was glad to be given the opportunity to chose!

The next day Kenny called and informed me he'd be 2 hours late due to some tricky water tank situation. I appreciated he kept me informed and felt my time was respected. When he finally arrived, he went right into work. He unloaded both tanks, sew the metal stands to the right height to align the water tubes correctly, secured the new tank and tested there's any gas leak. I was there to watch him installed the tank and I ask many many questions. He was very patient and helped me understand how hot water heater works and etc. The final/total bill was $970, I think that's a reasonable price to pay for such prompt and good service.

Overall, I'm really happy with the company and it's technician. I'd recommend both whenever you need any hot water tank service ASAP!

I got my garage flooded by my old water heater. I looked up online found this company, and Kaly answered my call, she was very sweet, and she gave me an estimate price for the worst scenario if that goes to replacing the entire unit. I'd really love to know the price range so I can prepare whether or not to afford it, whereas another company before this told me indecisively: oh can't really answer until I send someone over... so it could be $10,000? As result, I didn't choose them.

Next day, Taylor the technician came, got the problem fixed pretty quickly and after his pro diagnosis, he saved me big bucks from replacing the whole thing, and he could rip me off if he wanted to by selling me something unnecessary. I recommend them because they were very honest, transparent, responsible, and friendly. This is the reason, I took my time to write this review and even making a call back shouting out for both Taylor and Kaly. Thanks for your service.

On 7/13, we discovered what looked like a pretty significant leak from our water heater.

Because we've learned to rely on The Appliance Guys, we called them first - we were told they don't handle water heaters, and when asked for a recommendation, they suggested Stan!

We called you, and within minutes, your tech, Jake, had texted me, and the dialog began. Jake was polite yet all business, and we were pleasantly surprised just how quickly he worked, and how good everything looked when it was done. Yes, he cleaned the area up well, too.

I should point out that the time between discovery of the leak and the completed install of our new hot water heaters was about 2.5 hours. We had a great experience with you and wanted you to be aware of that (as well as the fans you evidently have at The Appliance Guys)!

Summary: Arrived and then left before our appointed time, then stopped answering the phone.

Details:
Made an appointment for 11:15 with Kyle and I told him I would be arriving home around that time.

Kyle showed up at 10:45, called me, and banged on the door loudly (as seen on my front door camera). Then he left.

I got home at 11:15 and Kyle was nowhere to be found. I tried calling him and his phone went straight to voicemail.

I emailed the company and haven't heard anything back yet.

I had a 20 year old gas power vent hot water heater and wanted to get it replaced before it started leaking or some other significant issue happens bc of its age. My old one still worked, it was just old and bc of its age I couldn't get it serviced bc something could go wrong in that process. I received about 5 bids and decided to go with Stan the Hot Water Man bc they'd been to my home to repair my very old heater in '12 and a co-worker recently had an install from them. Their bid was very competitive and the company connected me with their technician Johnny. Johnny was awesome! He did a terrific job, got me an energy efficient Bradford and White, installed it and took away my old beast. My mom bought one for her house too from Johnny on the same day since her old water heater was 20 years old like mine. I highly recommend Stan the Hot Water man they're a class act. I was especially impressed when my mom told me that Johnny did a minor repair on her stationery tub sink which the last installed totally missed and it was leaking! Johnny was super professional and totally outstanding!

After having another plumbing company come out (D and F plumbing) 3 times at a great cost we called Stan the Hot Water Man and Kyle came out and fixed our tankless hot water heater in 30 minutes! This was a very expensive lesson for us to learn... that we should have called Stan FIRST! The other company never really did much of anything but hem & haw and advise us to get a new unit at a very high cost.
Kyle serviced our hot water heater and in less than an hour it was up and running!!! Very reasonable service charge, friendly, and most importantly COMPETENT and efficient.  
We will always call Stan first with any plumbing needs.  Thank you for knowing what you are doing!

Our old water heater stopped working and needed to be replaced, NW natural recommended Stan the Water Man. Called STHWM and within the hour we had a plumber come out and replace it for a fraction of the cost that was otherwise estimated.

Had an issue with pilot light staying lit and called Stan the hot Water Man to get a tech scheduled. I was asked for some information to ensure they could work on the water heater type and to make sure should have parts for the issue. Then was told that a tech would call to schedule and should be able to get out the next day. To my surprise the tech called and said sounded pretty simple and could fit me in the afternoon same day.
Tech showed up and wore a mask and quickly went to work to identify/confirm the issue and found I had a bad gas valve which advised of the cost of the part and went to work to replace it. All in all was less than 30 minutes and got my family hot water again!!
I have 90 days warranty on the work done, but so far so good.

Well this month our Gas water heater stopped working one night and turns out we needed a new one. Contacted this company to see about getting a new one and they were the cheapest with the soonest availability. Probably should have gone with someone else.
The water heater came and was installed just fine and fast. Problem is that when releasing the initial pressure from the tank being filled up he didn't release enough of the pressure. This pressure got worse when the water heater was turned on.
So when I turned on the kitchen sink faucet BANG! the guts of the sprayer shot out of the faucet into the kitchen sink and then back out and halfway across the kitchen with water going everywhere. I figured maybe the sink was just old and it was it;'s time to die.
Then I go to the bathroom upstairs and turn the bathtub on and BANG it has so much pressure in the lines that it pushed the pull down diverter down and stuck it there the entire night. It wasn't till the morning that enough pressure finally found it's way out that I was able to push it back up.
I contacted the company and they said they would come out and take a look.
They looked at it and said they have never seen this before! Ha ya right.
When asked what they could do for me about having to get a new faucet installed because of the over pressure in the system, they said they couldn't do anything but maybe a discount and that it was not their fault.
So the pressure that was created wasn't related to the install??? LoL Come on.
I figured they might a little fair on this but they just gave$100 off the 1500 bill.
That faucet was another $500 just to get it replaced and they could've met me in the middle. Which is what I asked for.
Needless to say go with other people, the cheapest is not always the best.
I won't be using them again for anything.

Super quick, professional and reliable!!! Someone was trying to fix our water heater for hours over a period of 4 days. Then he said he won't be able to replace the part until he receives it 1 week later. I immediately looked on Yelp to find another repair service. This company was able to send someone out the next day and repaired my water heater in 15 minutes. I would highly recommend them to anyone who needs their water heater looked at!!

They sent an unvaccinated person, but being desperate for hot water I let him in with a mask.  He did a good job installing the water heater.he as a complainer about being tired, the heat, the stairs.  Bringing the old heater up the stairs Fe gouged the wood floor at the top of the stairs. In return he gave me a $36 discount on parts.  That won't go far for the repair.  Next time I'll find a different company.

Wow what service !!! My water heaters thermocouple went south I hesitated to call because the address was way out in Wood Village and I was way out in deep northwest I am glad I did. Jesse was very helpful on the phone and was very prompt to my call. I had called no less than 8 other contractor businesses and all could not get to my issue until well into next week. I was also told it might not be a thermocouple issue alone which starts to get me suspicious. Anyhow great service wonderful personality; and efficiently corrected the issue. I highly recommend them

Gotta say, best communication with a contractor ever.  Ian was the salesman who called me back and sold me my new hot water heater with an extra valve to increase output.   He was kind, considerate and called me at every commitment time.  

Ian installed the new unit with very little fuss, working around my barking dogs and cluttered home with no issues.   He had impeccable manners.  Such a nice guy!

As for pricing, we called a competitor and then called these guys-the competitor was $500 more than this one.  And then when it came time to pay-the bill came
In $50 less than the estimate!

Just an FYI-they take cash and check, but with credit card they charge 2.5% fee.

I would definitely hire them again!

Ian saved the day! We woke up to cold water today from a broken water heater.  Only two companies in town are certified to fix our water heater in order to not void  the warranty.  The first company we called Couldn't come for another 8 days and was going to charge  $140 just to look at it .

Stan the Hot Water man didn't answer right away but called us an hour later.  Ian was in our house in 10 minutes and fixed the problem in another  5 minutes for less than the quote from the other company just to look at it .

Mason our tech was fantastic. He was able to diagnosis the issue right away, had the correct part and was able to repair the water heater unit quickly.
He also explained what he was replacing and why. He also gave me the price of a new water heater (ours is a 2004) in case our water heater dies.

Called this place on Saturday because our hot water heater was leaking. Tech said that they could not help until Monday, but someone would be over first thing. On Monday, a new tech texted and asked me to explain the entire situation again. I sent photographs. He said the Saturday tech didn't tell him anything. He then said they didn't have anyone who could help until later in the week. When I called the receptionist, she said they got a ## of calls over the weekend, and everyone was booked until Wednesday. Apparently, we weren't important enough on Saturday to book. Completely unhelpful, and, what's worse, I now don't have a contractor to help with our situation because I stopped making calls on Saturday.

This is a first pass as a review which I will update and modify when I get a response from the company.
We had a new hot water heater installed Friday. They were very responsive and professional however come Friday eve I smelled gas. I called the company right away and also texted my tech. Got no response from either. I called again and texted again on Saturday. Never heard from the tech. The company apologized and said they would have the tech  contact me. Never heard from anyone. Still waiting to hear back and the gas smell has not dissipated.

Update : so the house continued to smell of gas and they didn't respond until after the weekend. And it did turn out there was a little bit of a gas leak so I was definitely disappointed that it took them that long to respond.

Stan the hot water man was awesome to deal with. I was able to describe the problem and why I concluded my 30 year old water heater needed to be replaced. I got a firm quote. I was able to text pictures of my old unit so that they could bring a replacement. The technician, Jesse called because his time freed up and was able to come early. He was nice, polite and got the job done in an hour and a half. He went above and beyond to clean the area. He was able to reuse my earth quake straps so my final cost was actually less than my quote. In the time of Covid he wore a mask the entire time. So thankful I found them.

My husband was out of town when an element on our water heater went out. I called Stan the Hot Water Man and got a call back from Brian, the technician, to figure out scheduling. He was able to come out to Forest Grove the next morning. Brian was friendly, knowledgable, and completed the job quickly. I also found the price to be reasonable.

Amazing! Instead of spending the $1,000.00 that George Moreland plumbing wanted for a new hot water heater stan the hot water man fixed our hot water heater in 15 minutes, and we paid about $180!
Our tenants said he was awesome, and kind, and fast!

This is the kind of business you make contact with during times of stress and need. Professionalism and knowledgeable and honest techs save the day in this situation, and Hunter was just that sort of person.

We decided to replace the 20-year-old water heater in our home ... well, actually, as you all may really know, one never decides, the old water heater makes that decision for you. And ours had decided to signal EOL with a drip, drip leak which was leaving standing water on the basement floor.

After NW Natural referred us to a couple of places, a bit of web research caused us to stumble on Stan. And, after talking to a couple of techs (one who tried to upsell us amazingly) I noted what other reviewers have noted about Stan and put in a call. We got Hunter to come out, who quoted us less than half of what the other guys did, told my wife well, I'll just put a water heater on the truck and be right over like it was NBD, and came and stayed within the estimate, did the work quickly, neatly, affably and, again, professionally. We got a square deal and sharp work for what is really a high-anxiety situation.

We'd use them again. I'd recommend them in a moment.

Recently our hot water heater failed to start up after returning from vacation.  A plumber we had used in the past, and liked, was booked out for several weeks.  But he recommend Stan the Hot Water Man, who came out the same day, found the problem -- needed new thermo-couple -- and did the repair.  Bonus -- while cleaning out that area of the heater, the tech gave us confidence we had a number of years left in the heater, and then we discovered to our delight that the cleaning also improved the heating.  Now we get more hot water at the same setting.  Whoo Hoo for these guys!

Our water heater sprung a small leak. Put in a request to Stan The Hot Water Man via their website. Received a call from the technician, Hunter, within an hour. Made an appointment for two days later and he even gave me a ballpark estimate for a couple of possible options (repair vs. replacement). Hunter stayed in touch the day of the appointment to let me know he'd be there at the appointed time. Ended up the water heater needed replacing. Hunter explained everything and did a quality job, strapping the water heater to our foundation wall, hauling away the old water heater, setting the temp to match our old temp setting, tested everything --  and the cost was slightly below the estimate. We have hot water!

I highly recommend Stan The Hot Water Man, and maybe you'll be lucky to get Hunter as your technician.

I had a hot water heater pilot light issue. They thought it was most likely a thermocouple/pilot assembly for a 2005 Model AO Smith, so they had an OEM repair part on the truck first thing next morning. They are a certified hot water heater warranty repair provider in Portland Metro area for AO Smith, Rheem, and Bradford White. The reason I recommend them so highly is that I have had challenges getting hot water heaters fixed... other service providers will claim they can't order parts for heaters older than 8 years old and that is just wrong. The tech, Jake, knew that the ceramic air filter could get clogged so he took care of that, too.

Water heater died, called Stan the Hot Water Man. Receptionist said a repairman would call me to set up an appointment.
About an hour later I got a call from Rico. He asked me to send him photos of the set up and the water heater so he could see what to order.
I did and he sent me an estimate of $970.
Next day Rico showed up. He's very personable, great guy.  I told him if he needed any help carrying or holding anything let me know.
I went in the house, about an hour later he knocked on the door. I thought he wanted help carrying out the old water heater, but No. He was done!
Wow! I was sure it would take much longer.
In less than an hour later I was showering with hot water again.
Rico's a great guy, hard worker and fast.
Total was $975, told a friend who had his water heater replaced about a year ago. He said I got off cheap. His was about $200 more!

Over a year ago our tankless hot water stopped working.  Stan's people came out and found the fan was rusted with water damage.  Due to age (13 yo), they suggested full replacement over fixing the fan.  I was suspicious given the cost, but we did it.  Now, 1.5 years later the new water heater stopped working due to water in the bottom of it.  We called them (and I did research) and it was the condensation (likely the same issue that caused the first heater to fail).  They came out, diagnosed the issue, placed a pump and drainage for the condensation.  They did all of this WITHOUT CHARGE -- not even labor.  I was super impressed that they righted the wrong.   The technician also followed COVID precautions without asking, which was great.

Fast, efficient, and friendly! My water heater went out and I couldn't find a reason why. If this company tries to send a guy named Sam out to you, hang up and call another company. After a lot of bad communication (and potentially worse as he seems to have scheduled me for his day off and wasnt communicating with his company about our meeting and quote...hmmm) I nevertheless met for a quote and scheduled with him. I texted him directly today about our installation appointment to confirm and he calls me asking what was wrong with my water heater. He didn't even remember me!

Someone else is being sent out this afternoon to do the job. Hopefully all goes well. I'll update when all is said and done.

Our water heater died and was leaking water while we were gone for the weekend.  We called Stan The Hot Water Man.  After taking pictures of our current system, we had a text with a quote to replace it.  

Three hours later we had a new water heater, no mess, and a job well done.  Thank you for your prompt response.

Darin was efficient, well masked, answered our questions, and had a great sense of humor.  Our daughter recommended this company and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend it either.

I had been without hot water for 12 days and my home warranty company sent someone out after 11 days and they said they fixed the issue when they had not. It was going to be another week before they could make it back out which is unacceptable to me. It was recommended by a general contractor friend of mine to call Stan The Hot Water Man and I'm glad I did. Within 3 hours of calling them tech Jesse was here to fix my issue. He even drove outside of their service area to service my water heater. He was polite, professional, extremely thorough, and knowledgeable. I cannot recommend these guys highly enough! Everyone told me I had to get a new water heater. Mine is over 10 years old, but was working perfectly until just recently. A friend recommended them to me, and I am SO grateful! Turns out it hadn't ever been cleaned and the dust was impacting how the pilot light was working. Johnny replaced the pilot light component, vacuumed it out and instead of having to pay $1,500 for a new water heater, I paid $215 and this one could last a few more years. Johnny was so sweet and efficient too. And he showed me how to light the pilot light myself. He was just absolutely the best!

Important note: The other company that came highly recommended said they had a policy to not repair any water heaters over 10 years old. They could only replace it. I just bought my first house, so it's not like I'm flush with cash these days. I'm SOOOOO happy I can get a few more years out of this one. Great job, you guys! This is one happy customer...who is really looking forward to having her first shower in three days.

Don't call anyone else if you need a new hot water heater!!!
Easiest 5 star review for me yet. I called yesterday after our hot water heater took a dump. While I had really hoped to get one installed the same day, they were able to save me a time for the next morning.
I got a quote for the same day from another company at $2000 for one with a 6 year warranty. Pretty mech double of the quote from this company. We opted to go take a shower at Motel 6 for $75 and wait a day. Ended up with one with a 10 year warranty installed for a touch over $1100. The installer, Jesse, was awesome!

The pilot light on my water heater went out some time on Sunday and I didn't realize it until I needed to take a shower Sunday night.  

I found Stan the Hot Water Man through their fantastic Yelp reviews and called them as soon as they opened on Monday morning.  Their office was able to get me scheduled and Brent was at my house at 10 A on Monday.  He was very communicative about when he would be in my area, showed up on time, was very professional, and replaced the thermocouple in my water heater in about 30 minutes.  There was no attempt to upsell anything and Brent answered all my questions.

I wouldn't hesitate to use Stan the Hot Water Man for anything else in the future!

When my husband dragged out of the shower and announced that our hot water wasn't working, we initially went on Thumbtack to get some quotes. They were all over $140 and we were convinced we could get a better deal.

I mentioned it to my mom, who said I should call Steve the Hot Water Guy because they were fast, upfront about costs, and didn't nickel and dime you over things. She gave me the number which I promptly Googled to discover the correct name of the business. Which is good, because I personally prefer my service people's company names to rhyme.

It was actually Brant (the Water Heater Mant, as my husband and I referred to him) that came by our house the day after we called, and he was fantastic. Turns out our water heater's pilot light went out, possibly due to a leak. He recommended we get a new one but it might not be necessary. If we did, he would deduct the price of this initial visit from the cost. Pretty awesome!

Our well that services this area was shut down last Monday to install a new backup (remember the ice storm?) so we would have water should the power go off.  SO, Thursday we STILL had no hot water after doing all the things we could think to do - so I called a competitor and THEY recommended this company!  I gave them a call, talked directly to the plumber and he was here in 30 minutes.  On a week day.  30 minutes.  We had hot water within 30 minutes of him arriving - bottom element was definitely gone.  It just doesn't get better than that.  I got extra stickers for family because they now know who to call and what to expect.  If you are reading this and looking for a reliable company, you found it!

Called and got a quote over the phone.  Simple quote with no add on's or requiring a $100 home visit just to verify they could change the water heater (like the competitors).  For under $900 they were able to come out and change out the broken water heater and take the old one away.  They also were the only one available to fix the issue in a couple days.  Competitors were saying it would take a week to get out.  Who wants water leaking for over a week or to shut off the water to your house for over a week?
I would highly recommend stand the hot water man.

We called this company after getting a really expensive quote for a new water heater from another company. The other company told us that they were unsure if they would be able to get the water heater out this week or next. Upon calling Stan's company, they answered quickly and told me that I should expect a call back soon from the local service man. Their service man, Johnny, called me within 30 minutes. He was able to come the next morning to install the water heater. They quoted us at around $900-950 to install a new water heater with a warranty. He came on time the next day, was super nice and professional, and installed the water heater without a hitch. It is working perfectly! Can't recommend them enough! Thanks guys!

Call them! My hot water pilot light would not light on a Sunday. I called all companies with hours on Sunday with no luck. Monday at noon I called Stan the Hot Water Man. I told the person that answered the phone my problem and location. He said the tech in my area will call me and set an appointment. 30 minutes later Hunter called. He scheduled me for the next day. I was just happy to have an appointment with someone. 30 minutes later Hunter called again and said he had some free time and wanted to come over. He came over, fixed my problem and was gone by 2. 2.5 hours after calling they had fixed my problem.

We have a complicated hot water system that heats the house and the sinks. When it stops working, it gets uncomfortable real fast. After two failed diagnosis attempts, Scott called within the first hour of business and confidently explained over the phone what we had been missing with the problem. He also wrote me a quote I requested to upgrade the system, and again, his experience and know-how clearly laid out a comprehensive path forward. But he continued to assure us that he had the solution. AND HE DID! We were back in hot water within an hour of his visit. Problem solved and the heat is on. Highly recommend these guys. Our 18 year old water heater finally stopped working.  After contacting the company on Monday, we had a new water heater up and running on Friday.  I like that the company assigns a technician to you to explain the technical part.  Johnny was professional, efficient, answered my questions, and appropriately used his mask.  I also very much appreciated the company scheduling a specific time with Johnny contacting me that he was able to come early, not just showing up as we have a watch dog.  The work was competitively priced and Johnny explained how to flush the water heater in the future ourselves.

We have used Stan the Hot Water Man on two occasions. Recently, the gas hot water heater (50 gallon Bradford White), stopped working. The unit was less than 6 years old, so we were shocked when NW Sundance Services left us an estimate of over $1,200 in repairs (not covered by our home warranty) on top of the cost of a new hot water heater. I immediately called Stan the Hot Water Man to get a second opinion even though they weren't covered under my home warranty. Kenny came to my rescue. Not only was he able to diagnose the problem (flex hose), he carved out time in his day to come out the next day. I gladly paid the $160.50 fee and will only use Stan the Hot Man for hot water heater issues in the future. If you are looking for a fair, competent, honest, highly reputable company for your hot water heater repairs you can't go wrong with Stan the Hot Water Man. Kenny you rock!

My water heater pilot light wasn't staying lit. It is 12 years old, and the gas co. tech said it needed a new thermocouple. Given its age, I figured it might be more cost effective to replace it, so I started calling around. One place said they didn't actually do this, and recommended Stan. The phone representative was helpful and clear in letting me know what the possible fees were, and they were able to send Darrin out same day. Darrin called to get details before he arrived, and said that my water heater should last a lot longer, and that he was going to fix it - and if he couldn't, that they would apply the service call fee to my purchase of a new one. Their quoted cost to replace that part was $100 less than that of another company I called. He got it working, cleaned under the heater (a lot of weird junk had collected there) and so far it is working fine. Darin also quoted a new heater while he was here, and we discussed pros and cons of different options. He was masked up, and kept a good distance. I will definitely call them when it's time to replace this heater.

When our Navien tankless water heater died, we were terrified. And by we, I mean me, because I knew I was going to have to be the one who handled the service calls. My husband would be at work, the lucky duck.

Cue terrified crying. Well, not really. But, still, you know what I mean. Calling in a house-related repair service is nerve-wracking.

Well, I'm pleased to report that Stan the Hot Water Man's technician got our hot water heater up and running after less than an hour. The total bill? $175, which is fine by me! He also discovered some hitherto-unknown-to-us energy settings that prevent the dreaded Cold Water Sandwich. Yay!

Seriously, don't call anyone else.  You're reading the reviews to see who to call and I'm telling you, it's Stan The Hot Water Man.  I woke up to no hot water and know enough to be able to diagnose it was the gas valve.  Like you, I hunted around to see who best to call and contacted them at 7:30am. The person answering the phone was professional and told me he'd have a tech call me within an hour, and he did.  Living in Woodland, it can sometimes be difficult to find someone, but they have a tech who lives up here and he could get by at the end of his working day.  He called to let me know he was on his way and showed up exactly when promised.  He immediately diagnosed the problem and went straight to work fixing the valve components.  Within 20 minutes of him arriving the burner was back on heating water!

I likely could have done this job myself, although it would have taken me 3 hours and lots of YouTube videos!  I also have access to the parts because we are a distributor of the gas valves.  I'm quite aware of the cost of the parts they used and I can tell you the parts markup was extremely reasonable and their labor rate had no surprises.  They were responsive, professional, knowledgeable and more than fair.  It was one of those experiences you wake up to thinking you have a ruined expensive day and end the day having had a great experience!  Thanks, Mason

After FIVE very frustrating days dealing with the bumblers at George Morlan Plumbing - (stay away - stay very far away), my neighbor told me about these guys.

Installed a top notch gas water heater same day, super service and for less $$.      I'll spread the word about Stan the Hot Water Man (and special thanks to Sam, the installer).

Seriously have never gone from one company that did literally everything wrong to a company that did everything right.    These guys are worth 3x the price, but they are NOT overpriced.   One company was 2.5x Stan's price on the exact same water heater and they stood me up also.     Argh!    There be pirates in this business.

Do yourself a favor and don't go through the torment I went through and call these guys FIRST.    Wish I could give 10 stars.

Based on a friend's recommendation, I called Stan the water heater man, and actually spoke with Johnny (JJ) over the weekend (Saturday) who replaced my 16 yr old water heater gone bad within six hours... unbelievable service!  Seemlessly replaced my original unit with a

This company is top notch. The level of professionalism was honestly the best I've ever encountered of an appliance/home repair company. The service technician, Jake, commited to a time of arrival (not a window) and showed up exactly at the time scheduled. He was curteous and efficient. Jake got our water heater working and scheduled to return the following week to replace a part that was causing a small leak. We scheduled an appointment for the following week and then magically Jake appears at the EXACT time he said he would, the following week. This may seem like an odd reason to give a stellar review but if you've ever waited for 6 hours for a repair technician only to get a call that they're running late, then you understand why I was so impressed! I highly recommend this company!

I just wanted to say how much I appreciated this place for their very fast and friendly service. My pilot light would not stay lit on my hot water heater and I had already been told by one company that they didn't work on my brand and another company said they wouldn't work on anything older than 8 years old. With Stan the hot water man I got a call back within 30 minutes and they were at my house 10 minutes later plus they said my hot water heater was still under warranty so all I had to pay for was the labor. Johnny replace the switch and I have hot water again!

Hunter came out and repaired my waterheater with a new thermocouple and provided some of the best customer service I have experienced. Not only was he accommodating and honest, but the prices were fair and beat out all competition. I had a shady plumbing company come out (see the rest of my reviews) and without even checking it over said I need to replace the entire waterheater since it needs a part no longer readily available. When Hunter was finished he said I can call anytime if anything else comes up and was super friendly. Can't recommend these guys enough!

Lack of hot water may not qualify as an emergency for some, but at the very least I'd like them to call back when they say they will. What a huge waste of time.

Our tenant's hot water went out overnight without warning .  Our regular plumber highly recommended Stan the Hot Water Man and we were not disappointed!  The office person pleasantly took my info and told me we'd get a call soon from the tech that worked that area.  Ken called us within the hour.  I explained the problem and he said he was pretty certain a hot water heater the age of ours would not need to be replaced and all could probably be solved for under $500.  (We were fearing the $2000+ charge for a new heater and we were so relieved!). He went out there the next day, promptly fixed a valve problem for a little over $200 and went on his way.  Our tenants had hot water restored within an hour.  Many times my husband will go out and take care of a problem like this, but we had our hands full and it couldn't have happened at a worse time.  What a nice surprise to deal with a service that was prompt, professional and knew what they were talking about!  Thanks so much Ken.  You can bet you'll be the first people we'll call if we ever have a similar problem!

I had some difficulty getting advice and starting work with a contractor to replace an aging water heater in a simple hydronic system. I received either misinformation, excessive quotes or faced a genuine lack of interest and follow-up. In the end, two companies were responsive. Stan the Hot Water Man and Fast Water Heater. Stan the Hot Water Man's quote was less costly and the owner, Mike, took a genuine interest in getting the job done right and cost effectively. It was clear that Mike stood behind his company's work, which is very important to me.

Scott, the repair technician seemed to understand the requirements, and the overall result seems fine. As Winter approaches, I will know more about the hydronic part of the install- but at this point I am pleased with the result.

I had several bids for replacing my 17 year old tankless natural gas water heater with a new high efficiency unit of the same type. I had several different design ideas based on floorplan changes I want to make to my 1950s house. In the end, Darin from Stan the Hot Water Man gave me the most reasonable bid while dealing with some special requests I had for pipe routing. We had to add a little to the original bid once we found what was behind the walls/under the floor, but it was still reasonable given time and materials. He also had to trouble shoot a water pressure issue due to the last plumber's work and was able to solve this problem before leaving for the day too. I am very grateful I chose this company and strongly recommend them.

I was left shell-shocked after getting a quote on a replacement for our 18 year old water heater from a company we were connected with by Costco. I wouldn't say they were shady, but they quoted a package price for a basic AO Smith heater that was over two and a half times what online plumbing supply houses wanted for the same heater alone.

After searching the web I came to the conclusion that Stan The Hot Water Man was getting nearly universal good reviews so gave them a call for a second opinion.

Brian quickly gave me a call back and was very upfront. Turns out the company normally deals in Rheem and Bradford White, and he immediately quoted me an installed price for one of those with equivalent specs to the AO Smith heater that was well under half what the Costco outfit quoted me. He said they could do AO Smith as well, but he just wasn't as familiar with them so would have to do some research on price.

Armed with this knowledge I did some more research and found that AO Smith was well respected but so also is Bradford White. Since my old heater was a Bradford White and had served us without issues well beyond its warranty period I decided that I just couldn't justify the price difference. Heck, at this price we can replace the Bradford White twice and still be less out-of-pocket than the AO Smith would leave us for a single replacement.

I talked to Brian again. In the course of my research I had come to find that there were higher output heaters than what we have had and also were quoted. He had never dealt with one of those heaters, but gave me a call back within an hour and left a message to let me know he could get me one for less than 10% more. He explained that the higher output heaters needed a larger vent than the standard ones, and that if we needed to upsize ours it would cost a bit more. He also suggested we add a surge tank due to the higher heat input and since we didn't have one before. He gave me a price for the heater and surge tank which was still under half of the basic AO Smith heater quote from the Costco outfit.

So, 3 working days after first talking to Brian he was at our house with the new heater and surge tank. I was at work but my wife was home to let him in. She felt very comfortable with Brian and only had good things to say about him.

In less than two hours Brian had the old heater out and the new heater (including new surge tank) installed. The total price was exactly what he had quoted me on the phone. Turns out our vent line did not need to be upsized.

In this day and age it seems rare to deal with someone who knows what they are doing, does it well, and does it affordably. We couldn't have asked for a single facet of the entire experience to have gone any better than it did. At less than half the price we got from Costco it seems all the more amazing.

On Saturday night before going to bed I heard popping noises and saw sparks coming out of the top of our water heater. First thing Sunday morning, I called Stan The Hot Water Man and Kenny called back within minutes and said he could come by shortly to take a look.  He arrived much quicker than I expected, and found fixed the problem fast and efficiently. Such a relief! He clearly explained what was wrong and what he was doing to fix it. Kenny was friendly, kind, honest and straightforward. We recently had our water heater replaced.  The work was done by Hunter, the cost was reasonable, and the work was very competent.  Communication with Hunter over the phone before the job went remarkably well.  We were able to nail down most of the details about the installation over the phone which made for an exceptionally quick and efficient job. It's never a good day when your water heater goes out..but on a holiday when you have overnight guest and your life is in a frenzy.
Called a few company's and getting help was 3 to 6 days out.  But EVERYONE At STAN THE HOT WATER MAN were kind and helpful.

My expectations are so, so low when it comes to having contractors come out to the house. They usually disappoint you in time, cost or quality (or all of these astoundingly at once).

Well, Stan the Hot Water Man has forever raised that bar! They were absolutely AMAZING. This is what hiring a professional should be like.

I contacted Ian at Stan the Hot Water Man about a week ago. Not only was his bid the most competitive we got, he was the most flexible with his install schedule.

Fast forward to this morning, he arrived on time and got the job done quickly. Ian even took the time to show us how the hot water heater works and answer all of our miscellaneous questions.

I will contact Stan the Hot Water Man with any service requests in the future - without a doubt!

the very best in town 5/5 I called Stan, the Hot Water Man, last Friday around 3:30 and asked if a contractor could come out Monday morning. Erica at the Portland office, said Sure, how does 9:30 work for you. I was so pleased that Mason would come out on a short notice. He showed up on time, evaluated my old water heater and left to buy a new one. A short while later he came back with a Bradford White and told me they were the best--made in America, unlike reliance or A.O. Smith. Mason did a super job, and I couldn't have been happier. He did it in less than 2 hours, and the price was a little less. Susan, from BPM management referred them to me, and I can't tell you how thrilled I was to get Stan. Others were quite a bit more. Since Monday, I've told as many neighbors as I could to go with Stan when you are ready. Thank you, Mason! I like the fact that Stan was not pushy and the staff were very approachable and friendly--very helpful, also.

Called them a month ago to replace my water heater and got a quote from the lady over the phone and idea of when they could install. Then the heat wave hit Portland so I decided I would call them back later to schedule the job. Called them last week to schedule the job and I spoke with a man this time who took all my info and said he was going to have his tech in the area call me right back. That was about a week ago and I never heard back from them. I'm glad I didn't have a broken water heater because I was under the impression I would be getting called back the same day and I literally waited for the call. Still haven't heard back from anyone.

Kyle recently installed a RUR199IN tankless water heater for us and did an amazing job. We had an 18 year old tankless water on the fritz, that kept giving us issues. I had a few different water heater companies come to look at it and all said the water heater needed to be replaced with a quote of how much it would cost. They seemed eager to sell me a new tankless heater and installation. However, Kyle was able to identify the problem, do an easy fix which kept it running for another two years. This extra time allowed us to save and have it replaced this last week. We own an 1890 victorian home and I was awfully picky about the aesthetics of the home both inside and out. Kyle was patient and understanding and answered all my questions. He did a splendid job of making sure I was happy with the way it looked both inside and out.

When you are in need of a water heater replacement - these are the guys to call.
My replacement was for a tank that had seen better days and rather than wait until it had failed, I called and was told Darin would call me back to schedule.When he called, he asked me if I have hot water, which I appreciate. I told him over the phone this was not a standard replacement and there were code violations as well. He was right on time and took a look at the work to be done then gave me a quote while he was here, answered my questions and scheduled the work. He was very knowledgeable about the venting issue and told me, in plain English, how it should be done and why. The quote was much less than others I had gotten and included corrections of the code violations and opening the wall for access, which my other quotes did not.
Darin arrived, on time, again and went straight to work. He finished about an hour earlier than expected, explaining it took him less time than he originally thought, showed me what he had done and here's the best part: He lowered the price (a substantial amount) because he finished early!!! How often do you see that?
Can't say enough good stuff about this company and hope they hang on to Darin, he's definitely A Keeper!

One call to Stan The Hot Water Man and 45 minutes later, Brent is here, ready to replace a faulty thermocouple in our design-flawed Whirlpool gas water heater, on his lunch hour, no less!  Thirty minutes later, he's done, and we have hot water again for the first time in four days (and 20+ phone calls to Whirlpool and other plumbers).  Stan was referred by Black Cat Plumbing, so I am indebted to both for my rescue.

I can't recommend Stan The Hot Water Man highly enough - fantastic service at a price not befitting a plumber!

Our hot water heater busted on us leaving water all over our garage floor. I called Stan the Hot Water Man and spoke to Brian. From the first phone call I was impressed by the professionalism and customer service. He was able to install a larger (50 gal) tank even though another company told me it probably couldn't be done. Stan The Hot Water Man could not be better!
We called them this morning to fix our water heater, as suggested and referred by Bruner Pluming, INC. (They are fabulous too!)

We were lucky to get a technician out on the same day. Each person we spoke with was extremely professional. They called to let us know what time their technician was going to arrive and we even received a follow up phone call to let us know that they were on their way.

As we originally thought, the thermocouple needed replacing. This is a simple part and they charged us for the price of the part $11.00 and a very fair price for their service call. George Morlan whom we purchased our water heater from, was going to charge us $135.00 for the same part, and they were not interested in coming out to service our unit. They were only interested in selling us a completely new water heater with out even taking a look at our water heater, which was not acceptable so we attempted to schedule a service call. Long story short, we were lied to repeatedly, and the technician scheduled to come out never showed up. Luckily for us we found someone better! Now, we will give all of our water heater business to Stan the Water Heater Man! Thank you!

Thinking that the discoloration of our new PEX hot water lines was due to rust in our water heater, I contacted Stan the Hot Water Man on recommendation by another plumber who was unable to take our project. Due to the age of our tank, I assumed that we would have to have it replaced.

Morgan called me back and asked me several questions about what I was seeing and the condition of our tank. Since it was not leaking, in addition to the good condition of the pipes and the water quality in our area, I was pleased to learn that we would not have to replace our water heater after all. Morgan saved us over $2500!

I will certainly be calling Stan the Hot Water Man when it comes time to repair or replace our water heater, as I feel I can trust this company to suggest solutions that are in our best interest.

Since the tech wasn't able to carry our old hot water heater up the stairs by himself, he talked to my husband about picking it up in a few days (my husband was recovering from an injury and unable to walk down into the basement).  Instead the tech tucked the old hot water heater behind the new one permanently locked in our basement.  Each time I call the company I am assured they will call us back and come out and fix it.  THEY NEVER CALL BACK!!  They are obviously hoping we will give up.  

I just want the old water heater removed, which the tech should have done in the first place. I don't know how this awful company has gotten such good reviews. I have never experienced such poor customer service.

Last year when I needed a new water heater, I called around a couple places.  Either I received bad customer service or they didn't want the business.  I ended up calling Stan the Hot Water Man.  I spoke to a gal immediately, she referred me to one of their plumbers who called me back immediately, gave me reasonable quote and installed in a matter of days.  I was very impressed.  I would definitely use Stan the Hot Water Man again.

These people are beyond 5 star! I had them install a unit in my personal home and it was so slick and easy! But my main review is from the outstanding warranty work from a unit they didn't install~ We had a plumber install a unit in a rental home, the unit failed and Stan the Hot Water Man is the service provider for the manufacturer. To make a long story short, calling the manufacture was a joke but calling Stan the Hot Water Man, they had someone call me immediately and schedule the next day and they would do the warranty claim for me. I will never ever use another company again, I am a customer for life! Wow.

I contacted Stan and asked him for a bid to replace a water heater as I was told I needed to get a new one from another vendor.  Stan took a look and determined that it was working just fine - just needed to have the thermostat re-set.   How many times does THAT happen!  What an honest guy!  I will call only him from now on and I suggest you do too!

Great service from the first person I spoke to, to the tech who did the work.  I'm so happy I called Stan the Hot Water Man.

Brent the technician was flexible when I was late for our appt, and courteous when he arrived.  I thought I would surely have to buy a new hot water heater.  But Brent said the tank was in good shape and just needed a converter kit and air intake cleaned.

My tankless water heater wouldn't light. I could hear the igniter clicking, so I ruled out the batteries being dead.

I called Stan The Hot Water Man and told them what was happening. They sent out a technician. He charged $155...to replace batteries. And, I had to supply the batteries.

So although by the letter of the law, they did nothing wrong, you have to ask yourself if you want to do business with a company that cares more about taking your money than helping customers.

My issue could have been solved in under a minute, over the phone. But there is no incentive for them to do that when they can instead charge someone $155 to change batteries.

We received a frantic text from a tenant who leases a property from us on a Saturday morning letting us know that she had no hot water. This after her neglecting to notify us that she had been noticing warm, but not hot water for a month.

My Reliance 1212 stopped working on a Saturday. I first reached another company who came out and said, the heater is from the 90's - it cant be repaired and has to be replaced. Ive been through this before with another hot water heater and fell for this must be replaced line most hot water heater companies make a nice living off of. And that is why I had called Reliance FIRST! Reliance told me that it does NOT need to be replaced, it was made in 2009, and it can be repaired for a $35 part and to call Stan. When the other company (Hot Water Solutions) reported that it cant be repaired I said, its not from the 90's, its from 2009. Hot water solutions guy said, Oh...i thought this color heater was from the 90s I said, well what is it that's broken on it? and he replied, Im not sure, it could be the thermostat but I don't know as we don't repair this brand. he then quoted me around $1500 to replace it. I called Stan and he repaired it the next day for the $35 part and labor. All told $190.00. Reliance said He is the only certified repair man for Reliance in portland. He is NOT big on small talk AT ALL. But he fixed it! On a Sunday!! (Oh, HWS guy also said the only people in Portland who work on Reliance models is George Morlan - they may as well, but I'd call Stan).

Replacing my 15 year old water was scheduled a few days out since it was working fine. Neighbors with similar water heaters had leaks (and had called Stan) so replacing now seemed wise. The initial call back was within an hour, plus later I had a 'on my way' call from the installer (it was replaced a month ago & I forgot the installer's name).  There was rust on the stand and rust on a seam on the back of the tank.

A concrete filled protector pipe (so cars cannot bump the water heater or furnace) made a tight squeeze for removing a water heater that would not drain completely due to a clogged drain faucet (I will drain the new tank annually to prevent that). That plus having all the safety connections and checks done by a pro was expertly done.

I highly recommend calling Stan the Hot Water Man!

I recently had great service on my aging tankless hot water heater at a very reasonable price. My experience with other plumbing companies has been that very few technicians know what they are doing on a tankless hot water heater (even the company sent by my former Home Warranty). They would be here for long periods of time and multiple visits while talking on the phone with Bosch Tech Support and still not be able to resolve the problem. Kyle was very knowledgable about my older system and its idiosyncrasies. He was able to identify parts to both replace and clean that might be causing my problems and did so in a timely fashion. The best part is that I haven't run out of hot water while showering since his service call and I was able to fill my whole deep bathtub with hot water without it turning cold halfway through for the first time since buying my house in 2012! I will definitely turn to Stan the Hot Water Man in the future if I run into any further problems. Thank you!

If you have a water heater issue, call Stan before you do anything else. Unlike other plumbers who cited imminent failure of my water heater, Mike, who answered my call, explained that if the unit isn't leaking, it's likely fixable for a fraction of the cost of replacement. Brian came out promptly and was done in about an hour. Super courteous and kind, transparent. They installed our heater 9 years ago so they could have made a sales pitch like the others, but they were all about doing the right thing. Saved me more than $2500!

The price on the new hot water heater was fine, the installation was OK. It did apparently jostle the lines which led to a tiny obstruction decreasing the hot water flow in one line which they said was not their fault and which is a defensible position.

Parts on this unit were warrantied for 7 years, labor for just 1, so when the thermostat went bad only 32 months in there was a $109.50 labor charge. The repair guy was swift, friendly, knowledgeable, and informative--but also understandably embarrassed when his company required him to charge for shipping the faulty parts back to the manufacturer, a petty sleazy policy the company should find another way to deal with.

When my 20-something old water heater thermocouple went out, I did what every DIY homeowner did, tried to replace it myself. Countless YouTube videos & conferring with the local plumbing store, made it seem super easy to do. I never done any plumbing or let alone home repair myself. But with $ on a tight budget, i needed to learn quick. Needless to say, i screwed up & damaged the pilot gas line & bracket that holds the pilot & thermocouple. Thinking it's such a simple component, any plumbing/appliance store should have it. After nearly 2 days of searching & driving all over Portland & Vancouver area, NO ONE has the part. EVERY ONE recommended installing a new one. With limited finance, it was simply not affordable (plus the installation fee?), I just wanted to cry. Then Mike from Stan The Hot Water Man, answered my desperate plea & was able to get one for me. His great customer & professional service were on spot. Not once did I hear a hint of condescending or judgement in his voice towards me, an inept handywoman. Instead with his reassurance, he gave me the confidence to tackle it without fear.  Now I can take a hot shower & wash away my ineptness! Thanks Mike! You totally are awesome!

Darin came by today to look at our Bosch Aquastar 1600H tankless, gas water heater.  We have no hot water.  We had done some research on what could be the problem.  The hydro generator.  Darin concluded that the hydro generator was indeed bad and needed replacing.  $140 later the water heater was not fixed because the part needed to be ordered.  It is not something they keep in stock because ours is not a machine they work on too often.  So, I ordered the part.  He showed me how to replace it.  Otherwise I'd have to pay another $70 to have him come and put it in.  And he recommended making a battery pack to power the ignition so that we could have hot water.  I'm bummed we had to pay for nothing to be fixed but a diagnosis.  For myself, $140 is my days wage.  I could understand $50 for a trip to diagnose.  The fee seems high especially for not being fixed.  Darin is nice.  They got out to our home within one day of calling.  Would I recommend them? Not sure.

Nothing short of a fantastic experience. My water heater went out and after diagnosing the problem via inspection as well as the LED trouble codes, I replaced the igniter/thermopile/pilot light assembly (cheap), hoping that'd be the easy fix. Unfortunately, it wasn't, which meant the gas control valve/control board needed replacing. That part is harder to find locally, so at that point, I just needed to get up and running.
When I called Stan the Man, the helpful coordinator said someone would call me back quickly after she took my info. Sure enough, less than ten minutes later, Jake called back and said he could come out the next day between 11am and noon. I described what I had already done and he actually listened and agreed with my diagnosis.
He arrived at 11:30am the next day, which was awesome to begin with as the window wasn't the usual 8am-noon or noon-5pm. Long-story-short, Jake had me up and running in 30mins, which included him trying to save me money by replacing just the control board first vs the entire gas control valve. I was blown away by this as most contractors would just install the whole thing and take the extra profit. Cost wise, it was literally $400 less than another well-known outfit in town that wanted to charge me $180 just to go drive and get the parts. That should be your cost of doing business my friend, not passed on to the consumer. Needless to say, I'll be recommending Stan the Man to friends and family if the need arises.

Had our old, improperly installed water heater replaced by Stan the Hot Water Man. I emailed them for a quote and a technician (Hunter) got back to me shortly thereafter. He gave me his recommendation for a replacement, some other options, and an estimate. I was able to correspond with him via text after our initial call, which made communicating super easy. I was still shopping around for quotes at the time, but was leaning towards these guys just based on my first impression of their customer service. Hunter continued to be friendly and polite through all of our interactions going forward. I was able to get an appointment the next week. He gave me a 30 minute arrival window (instead of several hours, like other contractors/techs/repair people) and a 15 minute heads up before he would be here and was on time. After he finished the job, he offered to clean my kitchen floor because he got a small amount of dust on it from his shoes (I declined). AND the final bill ended up being a little bit under the original estimate. How often does that happen?! Added bonus: At no point did he ask to talk to my husband or encourage me to talk to my husband before making any decisions. I've dealt with a lot of repair type people since moving into our house and this was by far the best experience I have had with any of them for anything.

We got fantastic service from these guys. Our water heater flat out stopped working. I called Stan the Water Heater Man that morning and the dispatcher told me that Brent would call me back. Brent did eventually call, (it took a few hours), and he was immediately helpful. He diagnosed the probable issue over the phone, and promised he would be there in the morning. True to his word, Brent showed up by 10:30 am and fixed the issue within 30 minutes. Now here's the fantastic part: in my effort to get the water heater working quickly, I had also called three other plumbers. Two of them told us flat out that they would not work on an 11 year old water heater. The other one came out as a courtesy call (we had done a lot of remodeling work with them recently so they wanted to keep our business), took a look at the heater, and said we needed a new one. Estimated cost: $1800. But then Brent showed up and worked his miracle. Stan the Water Heater Man will be our go-to in the future. It is rare to find an honest and conscientious company in this day and age. They could have told us we needed a new heater, too. But for the cost of a service call and a $15 part, we are back in hot water. THANK YOU BRENT and STAN THE WATER HEATER MAN!

The Company Stan the Hot Water Man is Fantastic! We have used them for repairing our hot water heater, which they did at a very reasonable price. But when it came time for a new one, I did some research and Stan the Hot Water Man's prices were incredibly reasonable compared to the other vendors. We can't say enough wonderful things about Ian, the young man they sent. He scheduled an appointment for us quickly, removed the old water heater and installed a new one in a very short time. He had to go up and down a flight of stairs as well.
But Ian went above and beyond for us! Two months after the installation of our new heater we noticed a leak and our new carpet was soaking it up. I called Ian and told him that our hot water heater was leaking. He rearranged his schedule and came over to check. It turned out it wasn't the water heater, it was our furnace condensation pump. He actually fixed the problem with our furnace pump!!! The most amazing thing was that he did not charge us for the service call, not one penny!
He is just a really nice guy, totally honest and such an expert at what he does. Suffice it to say, we will never call anyone else! Do yourself a favor, ask for Ian.

Not only did our very knowledgeable technician Kyle, get our tankless water heater replaced under warranty, but he returned a month later when we had detected a faint intermittent gas smell, and fixed the leak  at no charge (even though it was not related to the installation). My tankless water heater kept shutting off so I called Stan the Water Heater Man because they had done such a great job repairing the tankless the year before.
This time I was told the issue was with the ground water temperature being higher than usual and that all I had to do was turn down the temperature dial.
For this I was charged $120.00

I will not be calling, nor will I be recommending this company in the future.

If you need a water heater, call Stan the Hot Water Man! Responded promptly to my email and were out the next day. Johnny was fantastic to work with. I sent him pictures of my current installation and he told me exactly what they would do and the price. They showed up on time, were professional and courteous and did quality work (hard to find these days). Worth every penny and their services are very fairly priced. Will be my go to for all things water heater from now on!!

Our experience was excellent.  Our heater appeared to be failing long before it should have. Technician Hunter could easily have sold us a new one, but tried to save the old one.  Turned out it was bad, and Stan gave us a good deal on a new one.  I would recommend them to anybody.

My water heater stopped working, as it's pilot light was out.  I did not realize that and called them for repair. Their technician Ian called me right back and was super friendly. He helped me figure out the problem just over the phone.  He in fact said that he did not want to come over and charge me a visit fee just to turn on the pilot light. He also gave me confidence to do it myself. Nice.

I called to get my hot water heater fixed because it was not producing hot water anymore. They said the technician would call me back. When he did he said he would try to stop by after his next appointment. I had called 6 other places and they all couldn't fit me in that day or said they would call me back. Stan the Hot Water Man repaired my hot water heater before I received phone calls back from two of the other companies. It was the lower heating unit that went out and he replaced it super quick and I felt the price was very reasonable. Excellent service!

Would love to talk about their services, but as other said before, I didn't get that chance!
I called them, the person was very nice on the phone, told me a technician would call me back. The technician called back, we set up an appointment for the following day (so not even a week after, it was very short time after the call), and told me he would come between 2 and 5pm... Big time frame but we need someone to come so we canceled all our appointments (some business related), canceled our plans, and stayed home to wait on the technician... at 5pm, no one had call to let us know he would be late, and no one showed up... so I called! The technician that I talked to the day before didn't even remember me, he didn't remember that he told me he would come on that day, he panicked and told me he would call me back in 20min... 50min after he called me back, telling that he would not be able to come at all, he didn't even excuse himself, said that he was on a call and very busy, so I tried to explained him that we were also very busy and had canceled our day to wait on him but he didn't seem to care. He wanted to come the day after but we were not in town, and I said I would call back. I didn't really want to deal with the same person, that was rude, and was not even polite enough to excuse himself for not writing down his appointments so I sent the firm an email, to talk about the issue we had, I asked to get another technician to come to our house... it's been almost a week and we never got a call back!

My hot water heater stopped working on a Sunday.  I called to see if they could fix it.  The technician walked me through a lengthy diagnostic process, and we were able to figure out what was wrong.  At no charge, on a Sunday, the problem was fixed.  I can't thank you enough.  Oh, and I spoke with about 12 other service providers prior to this, and none were as helpful.

Just had our hot water heater replaced 2 hours ago. Once it was connected and the hot water line was turned on, something burst inside our kitchen wall and water started leaking onto our floor. I had to shut off the main line to stop the leak. Now we have no water period. I asked the technician to come back to have a look at what happened. He came back, explained that whatever happened wasn't from his work, that he wasn't a plumber and there was nothing he could do to help. He then left. We at least had cold running water these past two weeks while we waited for our hot water appointment. Now we've lost even that. I also asked if a new gas connector line could be connected to the tank he installed since the old one was bent and twisted a lot (it worried me and I was afraid it might be weakened and have a gas leak later on) but he said that would be a separate appointment with more charges involved.

These guys are terrific.  Got home at 4pm and discovered a flood in the garage.  Called Stan THWM and was told the local tech would get back to me by 5pm;  Jake called at 4:45pm and gave me a quote and said he could do it the next day at 3pm.  The next day he asked if he could come earlier; I agreed.  He showed up at 1:45 and had the job done by 3pm.  The bill was per the quote, the garage was left spotless (of his stuff), and the new water heater is working great with no leaks or anything.  Jake was courteous, professional, fast and thorough;  even remembered to leave a permit for the work.  Highly recommend them.  Oh, and based on the prices for the water heater at Home Depot and Lowe's, their bill was VERY reasonable.

Stan the Hot Water Man is still the gold standard for me.  Just last week I had to call them on a hot water heater for a resident that after inspection by me seemed to have failed.  They sent a tech out quickly who went right to work.  After a bit he came back to tell me that since the hot water heater was essentially brand new, it probably couldn't have failed, and after further inspection he found it was a problem with the hot water heater thermostat and replaced the thermostat.  The only thing we had to pay for was the $99 service call and part, all just a tad over $100.  Stan the Man, thanks so much for the great service, excellent tech, and honesty.  This experience, like always, made me very happy, and like always I will be calling them back.

I have a tankless hot water heater, and had intermittent cold water from one shower. My home warranty company sent out a plumber who just called the water heater manufacturer and looked for error codes, couldn't find any, then recommended a maintenance cleaning, for which he quoted me $465, to be done at another appointment. I got directed to Stan the Hot Water Man somehow, and scheduled an appointment. He had a recommendation I could try before then, and it totally worked. I kept the appointment, because he quoted $180 for the maintenance cleaning, which I figured was still a good idea. The technician was so nice, and so helpful,and clearly knew what he was doing. I won't go anywhere else for my tankless hot water heater.

Our experience could not have been better.  Our usual handyman noticed that our hot water heater was on its last legs before we experienced problems, but some construction had been done in the area long after the old hot water heater was installed, which made replacement more difficult.  Scott figured out an elegant solution, and the charge for the extra difficulty our situation presented was totally minor.  We are so pleased with this service!  Also, when I was calling around about hot water heater replacement, I heard from more than one plumbing company that they ALWAYS used Stan the Hot Water Man.

Had a bad water heater that the pilot light kept going out over a period of months.  Finally did some research and picked this company because of the great reviews on Yelp and Angie's List.  The gal I talked to on the phone was very responsive and I got a call from Mark right away.  He was very knowledgeable and put my heart at ease with all my concerns.  He was booked out until a few more days so he told me I could call the office and see if the other guy could squeeze me in and low and behold Johnny called me right away and was able to come over right away.  I was soooooooooooo thankful and very impressed with his knowledge and help and how quickly he fixed it.  They stayed true to the price quote which was $88 for the part and $100 for the labor.  By the way when I previously called George Morlan to buy this part they quoted me $129 so for $88 that was a great deal and you know they were selling it to you for cost of the part only.  Totally worth it.  Will call them again and recommend them to friends and family.

This firm was recommended by Patrick of Appliance Guys.  Johnny and Jake came out and installed a new Rheem 50 gallon gas heater in about 2 hours in a really difficult area of my house.  I would ask them to come to the house again in a heart beat.  It's great to have such good service.

This review is going to be essentially an echo of the first reviewer .. we woke up to no hot water and despite following the instructions, the pilot wouldn't light.  Our landlord called Stan the Hot Water Man.  I received a phone call within a half of an hour and the technicians arrived in about 20 minutes after this.  They diagnosed the problem, fixed the situation and were out of here in less than an hour.  In addition, we were given a personal cell phone number and a  sticker on my hot water heater (can't lose that!) and were instructed that we could call anytime day or night if we experienced any more trouble.  The technicians were friendly, well groomed and professional.

Terrible service.  My hot water heater was under warranty and Ken from Stan the Hot Water Man was called in as the service provider by the insurance provider.  He determined my hot water heater needed to be replaced, but he basically refused to call and get approval from the insurance provider.  I wasted 5 days begging him to get the approval and he had excuses every day as to why he couldn't do it.  The office also wouldn't help.  Stay away these guys are horrible!!!  I then called Fast Water Heaters and they fixed it and dealt with the warranty people not problem.  Go with Fast Water Heaters.

When you come out to the garage to find a river flowing (albeit slowly) from your hot water heater, your day changes, and you spend the rest of it trying not to imagine the full tsunami you're sure will follow. Johnny was the person who called back right away to schedule the appointment. He was professional from the start and was able to come out quickly (2 days). He was a really nice guy in person and was clearly very knowledgeable. He knew exactly what we needed, advised us accordingly, and was able to get the job done the same day (same appointment, actually). He also responded right away to a follow-up call with a question. All in all, we had a really good experience and wouldn't hesitate to contact this company again.

My hot water heater started to leak so shopped around for a new water heater.  Selected Stan the Hot Water Man and it was scheduled for install the next day.  Technician came out and determined that there was nothing wrong with the tank, just needed an expansion tank to relieve pressure.  He installed that and everything is fixed.  His honesty and expertise saved me about $1000, so very happy.  Will use again!

Nothing like a cold shower to motivate me to pick up the phone.  Stan the Hot Water Man had fixed my water heater about 7 years ago, so I got pretty good mileage out of that.  I called them at noon and by 3:30 the shower was running hot again.  They are reasonable, fast and friendly.  They have a customer for life.

These guys were responsible for a happy ending to a nightmare that was unfolding for us, due to a leaking gas on-demand hot water heater.

You can read the full story on my negative review for D&F plumbing, but suffice it to say, Stan the Hot Water Man showed up, assessed the situation.  Given the heat exchanger was leaking, they told us there was a 10 year warranty and a good chance it was under warranty.  We owned the house for 8+ years, and had no paperwork; however they took the serial number and contacted the manufacturer.  Yes! It was under warranty.  Basically, thanks to their attentiveness and experience, our heater was fixed and we had to pay only for their labor.

Something wrong with your water heater?  I highly recommend Stan the Hot Water Man.

We had them come out to look at our dripping water heater.  While they were willing to repair it, we agreed that the heater was living on borrowed time.  They quickly were able to set up a new heater.  I also appreciated that I thought we might need to upsize the heater based on our family size, but they recommended against it, even though it would have likely made them more money.

We have an instant Navien water heater.  They called and scheduled an appointment to talk with a technician.  He told me how to order the part, which saved a visit and the part arrived the next day.  Morgan, the technician, was right at the appointment time.  The best part was that he explained to me how the entire system worked in our home.  Not only was I happy with the bill, but we have continuous hot water from the shower, due to his adjustments.  I only wish we had called them to install the original unit.

After paying another contractor to check my gas water heater (from another company) and having them tell me they were not sure what the problem was or if they could even come back the next day....I called Stan the Man.  Customer rep at office was friendly and helpful.  They said that the tech would call soon.  He called back and after a brief conversation told me he thought he knew what the problem was and would be over early afternoon.  He arrived when expected, was very professional and thorough.  Quickly had it repaired and running.  The cost of repair didn't hurt too much.  I would definitely use them again and refer them to friends and family.

I woke up to a cold shower. Tried lighting the pilot to no avail. Called Stan the Hot Water Man who promised to dispatch a technician. When I hadn't heard from the technician (who schedules his own appointments), I called back into Stan the Hot Water Man. The scheduler promised to expedite as I was waiting and needed to get to work. I got a call from Mike, the owner who drove across the 205 bridge to my home in Vancouver, lighted the pilot, diagnosed the potential problem and didn't charge me a dime. In addition, he wrote his personal cell phone number of the sticker on my hot water heater and told me to call him day or night if I experienced any additional problems. This is the kind of customer service that only comes along once in a blue moon. I can highly recommend Stan the Hot Water Man and I thank-you Mike for your service, above and beyond the call of duty.

I was very pleased with the honesty of this company.  I had another company come out who contracted installation services from a large company in town.  The price increased by almost 200.00 after I got my quote when they arrived.  All the fee's they added on should have been included in my installation price.  Stan the Hot Water Man quoted me a price over the phone, when the work was done, the price was actually much lower than I had been quoted (by about 100 bucks!)!!!  How about that!  So glad I shopped around and found this company.  If you need hot water heater service, I would recommend you call this company.  They are based in Portland, and I live in North Vancouver.  Thank you so much !  Nice to have companies like this especially in these hard economic times.

I called around and got several estimates and Stan the Man got the job.  His guy came when I was at work and did an OK job of replacing the water heater, but the bill he handed my wife was about $50 more than the estimate.  He won't be invited back.

We came home 3 days ago to find water on our garage floor that appeared to come from a leaking pipe connected to our water heater.After contacting at least 4 well known suppliers of water heaters including the company that installed ours, none were interested in addressing a leaky pipe, rather try to replace the whole system! we were referred to  'Stan the Hot Water Heater Man'..Frankly I didn't know if I should laugh or cry (somewhat of a skeptic) over this, but took the chance and made the call. Wow! fast (live) answer to my call, followed by the technician 'Stu' about 35 minutes later, set up appointment to come over to my home, got here early, took a look at the issue and said he'd be done in 30 minutes or less. Upon replacing the leaking pipe he found one other issue connected to the pipe (pressure tank)..everything was done in 40 minutes, reasonable pricing on parts ($77.50) plus the $99 for call/visit! everything works, Fast response time, A friendly, knowledgeable repairman and fair pricing.The phone contact info is now on my water heater...I'm completely satisfied! Great company to work with..I highly recommend this company!

Be very careful about the hidden charge and the threats from the service technician at the time of billing. I scheduled a service with Stan the Hot Water Man. The technician replaced the thermo-coupler without much testing. I think the motivation is that the part is still under warranty. Then the problem came with billing. I was surprised to see an extra charge for paperwork required to do the warranty work. The office worker has told me $99 for the service call, which is pretty standard from everyone else -- I've made 2 other calls before choosing them. The total bill was 30% more with the extra handling charge. When I confronted the office, I was told that they had made a mistake for not telling me about the extra charge. There's one way to resolve it, which is to pay the bill. Meanwhile, the service technician took out his tools and threatened to revert the fix. The business ethics of this company and the customer service (lack of)  is questionable.

Called 5 different plumbers about my hot water heater. Stan the Hot Water Man was the only one to ask me what the problem was. The technician (Damon) fixed it for $130. All the rest quoted between $600 and $1000 to replace it but none of them suggested a less expensive option.
