Requested a quote after which they started coordinating with me efficiently. On time, on place and pocket friendly pricing. My words are just not enough to describe how wonderful the company is! Charlie showed up at my place checking the clogging issue, explaining me the reason behind it further cleaning it to let the water drain away easily. He advised me some steps to be taken to avoid the clogging issue in future. Completely honest and generous man. After calling 4 other plumbers, all of whom were unavailable for 5 days to a week or more, Charlie Hall Plumbing was able to come out the very next day to fix a couple leaks and replace my kitchen faucet. The work was done in less than 3 hours. One of the other plumbing places I had called for a quote said (sight unseen) that I would need a new water heater, which Charlie said was in fine working condition. A life-saver!  He showed up half an hour after I called about a leaking toilet (this was after I heard from several other plumbers that it would take 1-3 weeks to send someone). He instantly identified the problem and quickly saved us from a slow leak that was poised to do major damage to our floors. A previous plumber had done a shoddy job replacing the toilet's wax ring, and Charlie explained how he needed to use a wider ring and set it slightly differently to accommodate the angle of the floors in our very old house. He guessed with uncanny precision how long ago the previous wax ring had been faultily installed based on its appearance alone (8-10 months)! He was so friendly, knowledgeable, and reassuring about our old plumbing and what was in great shape and what wasn't. I hope I don't need to call a plumber again for a while, but it will be a pleasure to do business with him if I need to!

I'm very thankful for a company that responds quickly and can come out within a couple of days. I'm a little lost when it comes to fixing older plumbing issues and as my house is pretty old, we will inevitably have more issues with our other bathroom in the future. I will definitely be calling these guys back out if we ever need them again.

Charlie returned my call within an hour and was at my house 20 minutes after that. He understood my hesitation about putting a lot of money into a sink we would be tearing out in a few months anyway, and gave me a wonderful temporary fix to meet my current needs. While doing so we got to chat and I discovered what an absolute joy this man is. Yes he's an excellent plumber, but he's also a wonderful human and totally put a smile on my face for the rest of the day!

The Water Bureau called and informed us that our quarterly bill was 4 times the same period last year, strongly suggesting a leak. We had Leak Detectives (also highly recommended!) locate the leak, which turned out to be in the water main leading to the house. I got four bids to replace the aging 48 year old water main, which Leak Detectives and each of the bidders said was too old to be properly repaired. I selected Charlie Hall, both for his reputation on Yelp, and his reasonable bid, the more so because he included replacing the run from the water main to the hot water heater, which none of the other competitors included in their bid. Communication was excellent throughout. Charlie and his son Jake showed up when they said they would, clearly explained what they were doing, and worked efficiently to complete the job. They were a pleasure to work with. I inspected all of the work, and it was first class; they used a heavy duty one inch Pex. Next time I need a plumber, it will be Charlie Hall Plumbing. Highest recommendations!

These guys came out and replaced our leaking spigot at the back of the house.  We had a deck installed recently, so the spigot was covered and difficult to get to.  They simply disconnected it and installed a new one in a convenient spot.  They were so pleasant and knew a lot about our neighborhood.  We got ourselves a new plumber.  Amazing job.  Quick, efficient, and affordable.  You can't go wrong with guys like this.

Charlie and Jake have done numerous jobs for me and I really can't say enough things about them. They're friendly, efficient, timely, kind, and so cute. He brings the east coast charm. Finding them was the best thing that's happened for my pipes.

Charlie is my new hero! Our sink starting leaking water really bad last night so we had to shut off the main water valve immediately. I called a 24 hour company last night but never heard back. I called Charlie this morning and he managed to squeeze us in within a couple of hours. I think we got lucky because he says he is usually very busy on the weekends but another customer had just canceled so he got us in. Anyway, he was super efficient, knowledgeable, friendly and charged a fair price. We have found our new forever plumber and I'm so happy!

I highly recommend Charlie! I called him with a leaky valve and he helped me out over the phone and stayed in my area in case it wasn't an easy fix. This very broke nursing student appreciates a plumber who looks out for his customers, even new ones who he has never met. Charlie Hall Plumbing is the absolute best plumbing service we have ever used. We found out that our main water line had broken from our water meter reader, and water was rushing out underground at an incredible rate. I called Charlie Hall Plumbing after reading the excellent reviews he has received. He came out that same day, and when I thanked him for that he said, you sounded worried.  Charlie and his son Jacob took care of the problem very quickly and with expertise. Charlie worked for George Morton for years and you can see he is very skilled, and knows what he is doing. His price was fair and he even fixed a leak that we had under our laundry sink for no charge. Charlie and his son Jacob are really down to earth, kind people. I can't recommend them enough.

Charlie made an effort to schedule us nearly immediately, was quick and clean.

We needed Charlie and his assistant Jacob out to help us install a new kitchen faucet, plus under counter plumbing for an instant hot water spigot, and ice maker water.

He was in our home the day after our call and even earlier than we had expected.

He and Charlie spent 2 hours on the removal of the old and installation of the new. They did a great job and even cleaned everything up!

We did pay full shop rate, which I assume in the city is $200 per hour plus parts. While no bargain the work was perfect.

Charlie and his crew, Jake and Chuck, were a delight to work with from start to finish. They responded to my query about a broken sink very quickly, and were able to come out and fix it the next week. They were always quick to communicate and follow through, and they're all really nice and professional. They did such quality work, it felt like they really cared (that's definitely not always been our experience with plumbing work!). Also, because our SE bungalow is over 100 years old, we were concerned about matching the existing fixtures and Charlie did a seamless job with that. He worked at George Morlan for over 20 years so he knows his stuff! He and his team left everything perfectly cleaned up and it's amazing to have a working sink again. We're so happy to have found Charlie & crew, and we will call them for all our plumbing problems from now on!

I've been trying to get a shower leak fixed for weeks. First plumber I talked to recommended replacing everything with an estimate of $1500. I bailed on that and tried someone on taskrabbit. That person suggested just replacing a small part but 3 visits in, he had the part halfway inserted and admitted he couldn't finish the job and left my shower nonfunctional. I called around and realized most plumbers don't work weekends. Then I found Charlie. He came over right away and immediately diagnosed the issue, went out to get replacement part, and returned to fix the issue for a reasonable fee. I think we're good to go and I can't believe it!

I've found my plumber. Charlie is quick, efficient and knows exactly what he's doing. We had been living with a couple of non-working faucets for years, and when we could finally get the work done Charlie came out the day after my first call to him, diagnosed the problems within a minute, set an appointment for the following day, and was gone. Next day he came back with a new faucet and installed it (plus a new drain) in about an hour and a half. Fixed the other problem and was gone. Very professional, quick and trustworthy.

Needed a plumber on a rare day of snow, ice and slick roads in Portland and came across Mr. Hall on Yelp. He was able to fit me in last minute and fixed my clogged toilet in no time at all! Was quick, easy and a good deal. He will definitely be my #1 call him again in the future.

Charlie restored my faith in the American work ethic, honesty and integrity.  These days you get people price gouging due to scarcity in plumbers (for that matter most skilled labor.)  Charlie fixed a bunch of plumbing issues in my house at the best possible price, expediently, and cleaned up after himself. Charlie is the most amazing, hard working, honest, and ethical worker.  America was built on people like him and I wish there was a way to replicate all of who he is in future generations.

I set up an appointment for a quote and I was told that it would be for the morning. I called several times in the morning and they did not pick up. They told me they would meet me in the afternoon and they were a no show. Horrible communication and not reliable.

We had a pipe burst in the wall at 4am Christmas Eve. Charlie Hall Plumbing was very responsive and came out promptly and repaired the pipe outside during the freezing rain! We also decided to hire them to replace a toilet. Their costs are reasonable and I enjoyed working with them and will hire them for any future plumbing needs.

Charlie and Jake were absolutely fantastic. We had an issue with an older shower valve not being able to turn appropriately which required a new cartridge or replacement. Charlie and Jake drove to a couple of different warehouses in the area to find the part they need and charged a very reasonable amount for the time they spent on our project. It was an absolute pleasure speaking with them and would love to have them over again just for dinner and conversation! Such great genuine people who go above and beyond to get the job done at a reasonable cost -- highly recommend!

Absolutely perfect!  That is my two-word review of Charlie and Charlie Hall Plumbing.  The many rave reviews are well deserved given my experience today.  The longer story is that I own an old home, built in 1916, that comes with the usual list of maladies, including old plumbing.  A few weeks ago a valve which looked like a pressure relief mechanism began running continually, which was flushing water and dollars literally down the drain.  I looked around a bit for a solution but could not figure out what the thing was, so defaulted to Yelp! to find a plumber. Based on the excellent reviews and his being a family business I called Charlie.

Charlie called back shortly after I left my first message, and over-the-phone walked me through trouble-shooting the issue.  He very quickly guided me to the details he needed to diagnose the problem which was a malfunctioning primer valve.  We arranged for him to drop by the following Monday at a specific time.

Come the appointed time, Charlie is right there on my porch. Affable, friendly, energetic and quick, Charlie got right to it.  He took a look at the set up and after a brief trip to the plumbing supply store for the valve he set to work.  He is very fast.  Within minutes he had the thing replaced.

The whole time Charlie kept up a running conversation - he is a helluva interesting guy.

20 minutes and done.  A great visit and great work from a terrific, seasoned and customer-centric old-school plumber who really cares about his customer.

I got a quote to repipe my old house from Charlie on his way out.  I am certain I will be seeing him and his team soon.

Awesome service and so happy I now have a plumber for future projects. Charlie and his crew replaced an old tank style water heater with a tankless one, and also installed a new kitchen faucet for me. The water heater changeover was a big project and they worked like a well oiled machine.

Charlie did a great job on my broken toilet. He came out on a Sunday to diagnose
and then back again during the week to finish the work with the new toilet. He is very friendly, responsive and efficient. I've hired him twice now and would hire him again.

This company obviously does not do new construction installation, or full reinstallation and will just simply not call you back to say so. We called Hall Plumbing based on the great reviews, and we were not disappointed. Charlie was friendly and helpful over the phone, and he and his son got the job done quickly. Very reasonably priced. We don't have to worry about hiring shady plumbers anymore, as we will always go with Charlie from now on!

Had a leak from our shower knob that progressively got worse. Called Charlie and he came within a couple hours to assess the issues. Didn't have the parts with him so he shut off the main water valve to the house. Came back with the parts we needed and fixed it with no issues.

Excellent work at a reasonable price!  And fun people to boot.  If I could give more than 5 stars I would.  Charlie and his son were a pleasure to work with.  They were communicative, prompt, and efficient.  They installed a utility sink in my garage where there was none before and really went above and beyond... They came back twice after the job was technically finished.  Once to place a tracer wire on the drain line (as per the inspector's request), and again because I messed up the grade when I dug back down to place an electrical line alongside.  No extra charge for either!  I'll definitely be calling them for any future plumbing needs.

They were very nice and efficient and were happy to talk to my home warranty company, which I was a little nervous about asking. We will definitely be giving them a call for future plumbing problems or projects. As with most skilled tradesmen these days, they are busy, so try to call ASAP when you have an issue.

I HAVE A PLUMBER!!!  I'm so excited - you know how difficult it is to find a good partner to help with home repairs and improvements.  None of my contacts seem to have a good recommendation so I found this team on Yelp and am so delighted I need to share!

I had a problem installation from a prior plumber that needed removing, they responded to my Yelp ask very quickly, shifted to text communication (which is way easier in my world), scheduled me in within the week, kept me updated on their status, SHOWED UP WHEN THEY SAID THEY WOULD, swept in to my home, and half an hour later, said their happy goodbyes.

This father/son team is a dynamo.  They know their shit, talk the shorthand with each other, and just get the work done - and for an extremely fair price. They even discounted my $200 quote!

I highly recommend them.  They already have first right of refusal for any of our future projects or needs.

They did what two other plumber told me couldn't be done, and they did it for WAY cheaper then the other guy's quoted me (with the possibility that it might not even work). About $1000 less. Call these guy's. They're plumbing wizards, and they're a super sweet father son duo. Go team family!

This guy is the best! Everything you could hope for in a plumber. Our water line broke and water was coming into our basement! He came out right away and evaluated the situation and gave a bid to replace the water line. He couldn't do it that day so I called around for other prices and to see if it could be done sooner. Even though there were a couple of places that could do it a day sooner, I decided to wait because Charlie gave me the most information, he was very helpful and responsive and he was the cheapest. Sometimes the cheapest option isn't the best but in this case it WAS!   He is very experienced and knowledgeable. He got the job done fast for the best price. He put everything back together nicely. He couldn't do the drywall repairs that needed to be done but he recommended someone who was also was very fast and did it for a great price. Fast forward 2 months -- there is a small amount of water in the basement again. Charlie comes out within two hours and evaluates the situation. He is able to determine that the water is coming in through a window well. He gives lots of information on fixing it and also advises me on problems I am having with my sewer drain. Charlie is very trustworthy, friendly and he knows his stuff. Call him, you won't be sorry!

I love Charlie and his son! He fixed a few things for our ancient house many years ago, and Jan 2020 repaired my leaking tub faucet. Very sweet person, good quality work.

Long-standing family business in the Foster-Powell neighborhood. As expected from the other positive reviews, these guys are very busy. I've called them on two occasions. The first time they were able to fit me in and did an awesome and thorough job on our sink that had been making problems for a while. (Another plumber previously spent a long time cursing underneath and was not able to fix it for good.) Father and son showed up together and were very friendly but quick. The second time I called (different issue), they were not able to fit me in but referred me to Allen Winslow from Champion Drain Cleaning, who was terrific too and I highly recommend: (503) 422-0466.

I've been using Charlie Hall's services for almost a decade including a complete repiping of our old house. He and his son are great plumbers - efficient, punctual,  affordable, and very friendly. We recently moved to the west side and we just had them out to our new house. They installed a garbage disposal and while under the crawl space found that our tub is missing a P-trap - something our inspector missed while under there. We'll probably have them repipe this house as well. If you told me that you had a better plumber, I'd be skeptical.

Charlie and his son arrived on time and delivered what they quoted.  I probably waited a year too longer than I should have but glad I finally called these guys.  It Took them about 2 hours and they were cleaned up and removed all of the old components.  They used a Reliant 50 gallon water heater from George Moreland and is so much better and more efficient than my 20 year old one.  Also replaced my expansion tank.  Will not put in my exact quote to be fair for all of the plumbers but of 5 that I requested all came back under $1800 installed, if you were looking for a ballpark.

Not a shill for the water heater consortium but just having fun with it since I was just dealing with the poor response form my water heater.  Mine was going downhill for many months and I got used to dealing with the things you have to do Like timing showers.  But that said I'll call Charlie and Jake if I need other plumbing needs and would not hesitate to recommend them for a water heater replacement.

Five stars, once again. Contacted Charlie Hall (again) for help addressing a leaking shutoff valve for my outdoor plumbing. They showed up at the agreed time, replaced the valve, gave me some advice on other questions I had, and were out the door within an hour. Super friendly. Hope it'll be a little while before we need to call you again.

Charlie and his son Jacob showed up promptly at our house. Both were wearing masks. We're very happy we hired them as we've been through the ringer many times! They have a wealth of experience in the area of plumbing and know their stuff! Very respectful, honest and trustworthy! We addressed our concerns with them about our current contractor and they were able to provide us with contact information for two individuals who specialize in construction and electrical work. Charlie and Jacob installed the plumbing for three sinks and a toilet. Everything was completed in less than two hours. They left the area they worked in clean and in tiptop shape! We were very impressed with their work and asked if they could quote us on a few other jobs we are interested in having completed in the future. We would be happy to have them back any day! They wont drain you of your budget either!

On a side note, I really enjoyed talking to a fellow NE coaster!

Is it weird to tell people how much you love your plumber? I have used Hall Plumbing three times, plus recommended them to my mom who has happily had them out as well. Charlie, Jake, and Chuck are friendly, extremely knowledgeable, professional, responsive, and wonderful to work with. I had to do a repipe and had 4 bids, Hall Plumbing was right in the middle, I went with them because of their exceptional customer service and knew if I ever had any follow up concerns, they would stand by their work. I've used them to also snake drains, their prices are reasonable compared to other vendors, and again, high level of customer service. They also gave me some advice to help with clogs in the future. I greatly appreciate Charlie and his sons' friendly demeanor and that they remember me (and my mom) when I call to schedule. They are responsive, on time, and a well oiled machine working together. They do excellent work, I would give 10 stars if I could!

Charlie was great, he fixed my leaky shower in about a half an hour, recycling some parts saving me about $75.00 in parts alone.  Charlie was also flexable and personable with reasonable prices for his work. Thanks Charlie..,,you're my guy!

They gave me the best price on a fairly large job but then when I had questions (the same day I got the quote), it took seven tries in five days using various methods (phone, text, and email) to finally get a response. The response was hello we just took on a very large project. We will not be able to help you with your job at this time.  OK, I get it but did it really take all those attempts to tell me that? I can't speak to the quality of their work since they're not doing it, but the responsiveness could absolutely use improvement.

Called Charlie for service again.  He told me he would come the next day at 10:30 AM.  He never came, and at 11:10 I called again to find out if I was still on the schedule (or to reschedule since it wasn't an emergency) and he never even called me back.  

I didn't reduce the stars to 1 simply because the first time he came I thought he was awesome.

You know that moment when your family is coming to town to the see the house you just bought and meet your girlfriend and the kid and you realize you forgot to call a plumber  to fix the hot water shower in the guest bathroom. Have no fear cause  Charley Hall is here. It was a super simple fix and any other person could have cone out and fixed it and charged me and we would have  gladly paid. Instead Charley called me back within an hour and troubleshooted the problem over the phone and I fixed it in less than 5 minutes. Charlie and and his son Jacob are great. I had a large plumbing project for a remodel that was botched pretty bad by the first set of plumbers i hired. At the time i was very frustrated loosing the money i had originally put down with the first guys and left w/ such poor work and yet still needed to get this done.  In hind sight it was worth the loss because finding Charlie i now have someone i can trust with other jobs in the future and have someone i can trust to recommend to friends and family.

Charlie came over the very next day from my initial call. Upon arriving and looking of the job was very clear on what needed to be done and what the expenses were gonna run me. He performed everything on the bid and even then some and and the quality of work was fantastic and done in only a couple days. His quality and speed of work, great personality, clear communication of what the job entails and reasonable prices is while i'll never look elsewhere for any plumbing needs that may arrive.

This was another do-it-yourself project that wasn't!  I spent hours trying to replace a faucet, with very little clearance.  I called Charlie and he and Jake were here when they said...a HALF HOUR - because they had a little room in their day.  They went to town on it and were very personable, professional, and efficient.  I won't hesitate to use/recommend them again.

Charlie and his son came to my home yesterday and did a great job fixing my tub faucet and the shower - and did not overcharge me!!!  I had another plumber come to my home on Monday and they quoted me a starting price of $1000.  They found that the cartridge behind the tub faucet was plugged and was not screwed in tight enough.  The other plumber had told me they were going to have to cut thru the laminate (old house) and there would be a hole.  Hall Plumbing is now my go-to guy for all my plumbing issues.  And Charlie is great to talk to we are both from the east coast so we had an immediate connection!!!

I called Charlie on Friday to tell him I had some plumbing problems.  He said he could meet me there within the 1/2 hour. He and his son were punctual professional and did an excellent job.  They worked diligently to complete the work for me.   I hired them to do additional work l am very glad I did. Again,  they were punctual and thorough and walked me through everything they had done. They left all the work areas spotless. I live in SE portland and needed a moen water cartridge replaced. I had already purchased the new cartridge and the adapter removal tool. My do it yourself project turned into a no-can-do project. I couldn't remove the old cartridge. I left a message on Charlie's phone and he got back to me in 15. Given he was the 2nd guy I tried, I was surprised he could come right over on this Tuesday afternoon as the other company was 2 weeks out. Charlie and his son jake came right over and pulled out that stubbborn cartridge and reassembled the valve. Voila! Took about 15 (helped I had already disassembled) and cost $100. Put me down as not a fan. We had an appointment to meet at 11 a.m. this morning at the house I'm moving into. It was a firm appointment and it took some effort on my part to get there on time. He didn't show up. It's 11:45 now. I just called him. He answered his phone. He said he had been on another job that had taken him longer than expected and was on his way. I told him to forget it. He had not had the courtesy or foresight even to call and tell me he was running (very) late.

Great service, and a good price! Charlie Hall Plumbing is the best - I needed a new toilet installed on a particular afternoon on a week's notice and no problem - they got the job done quickly and efficiently. I feel like I found a new friend!
