ABOUT BUSINESS OWNER
Hello, my name is Ryan Matthews. I have been in the plumbing trade for 17 years. I started out in new construction before the recession of 08. I worked on mostly residential new homes but also installed plumbing in schools, car dealerships, and other commercial settings. After about 7 years I decided to get into residential service. This is where I found my passion. I found out that I loved helping solve people's plumbing problems and I am extremely good at it. I decided to start my own company where we focus on the highest level of customer service. I took everything I hated about other plumbing companies and threw them out the window. We focus on hiring the best employees and treating them the way I wish I was treated when I was an employee. Similar to another review, I was charged $400+ to swap out a kitchen faucet. Prior to booking the job, I asked for a price quote over the phone to which they said wasn't available (??). The two main determinants, from what I understand after a completed job, is whether I provided my own fixture or purchased theirs ($900+!!).
In the end, the swap took two guys 20 minutes. They were professional, but I felt like it was more of a sales pitch - upsell me to their supplied faucet using scare tactics of no warranty on my provided faucet, plus upsell to their service subscription.
In the end, I needed the faucet swapped in that moment and didn't have time to book another plumber and wait a week to find a less expensive option.
In the end, it's my fault for enabling the business to keep charging these rates and using the tactics. But, I feel strongly that there is a better way to conduct business transparently. Will lead to long term customers instead of one and done.

Pro: MyGuy Plumbing was very professional, clean, organized and on time. The work they performed so far has been great, no issues. I would recommend their work to others.
Con: I was charged almost $500 to swap out a sink faucet that took about 20 minutes for them to do. They have a book that outlines cost for their service folks, and isn't based on actual job at hand. I'd love to use them again, but I can't afford to bring them back for future jobs at their rates and pricing structure. If the costs are defined, then I wish they had provided a quote over the phone to start showing ballpark figures, with me understanding things could possibly change once they get out there to fully inspect the situation.
Neutral: There is a service fee to come out and that would be applied to the job if you select them on the spot. This is normal though for a lot of folks in my area.
They ar good but there prices are very high my mistake is I signed a contract so I cancelled my contract for inspection . they said I could not get any money back sorry I signed a contract there prices are through the roof cannot afford there prices. .

I was given specific violations from NJ Natural gas. They came- and their first idea was to bring gas pipe through the bathroom (?) and rip out the tile wall( and exterior wall) it's a long way from the problem. I didn't mention I had worked for a HVAC company in the past- and knew enough, that that was stupid. He said he would try and think of something else.. and call someone.. he came up with ( I need two shut off valves, a leak fixed in the line going into the gas line and the outside pipe) breaking through the wall behind the range( but they are not dry wallers ) and connecting the pipe. $1,600. Or a less practical answer of separate piping outside to all three appliances $4,000. Hard pass.
Had an emergency and they came right away to take care of it for us.
Definitely will be using them in the future.

Had a broken pipe under house in the crawl space, tight area. Had other company come out and gave a price that was crazy. Said it's alot more because it's under the house. I told him to leave but thank you for coming and paid the 50 dollar service fee... didn't even look at pipe. I then called MY GUY and he came next day. Mike was the plumbers name. Very professional and extremely a nice guy. Talked to me like I was family. His price was 1/3 of the first companies price. No hidden charges or up sales. I'm in the home contracting business and this is how I treat my customers also. I was very impressed and will definitely be using My Guy on all my future plumbing jobs. Thanks Mike......100% would recommend!!!!!!
We have a 65-year-old family house on Barnegat Bay. The original water line with a (2 1/2) feet below grade shut-off valve is still there in a 16 square pit.
The original valve started leaking about 4 years ago and no plumber wanted to touch it because of the limited workspace and age.
I saw the 5-star ratings for My Guy Plumbing and asked them to look at it. The plumber, Mike K and his assistant Jake showed up on time (!!) and spent almost an hour inspecting the situation and coming up with a plan to break the 65 year old connections between the valve and water line and prepare an estimate.
After approving the quote, it took 2 more visits to finish the job based on tide levels (yes, the water box fills with water at high tide) and special tools needed. Along the way Mike K would call me to keep me informed.
I have never worked with a plumbing company which is so competent, easy-to-do-business with (thanks Jeana), professional and friendly. I would not hesitate to refer My Guy Plumbing and Mike K to friends and family.
They never responded to my request, after asking for phone number. When I called the office the said they couldn't fit me in for at least 5 days. Not too impressedwith this company.

These guys are great. Came when we needed them and did quality work, giving helpful advice along the way, even on things not involved in the work. Chris was super knowledgeable and friendly, coordinated with our electrician, explained things in detail before the work was done and provided photos of after. Really appreciate these guys. So here is my understanding of the plumber's response: They DID give me three options: install sink in basement, install sink and lavatory, install sink, lavatory and toilet. But you can see that these are just the prices for the three items I needed installed.
I do appreciate that they have experienced plumbers that should get the job done efficiently. However, that should result in greater productivity, not higher prices.
But I will ask them for a bid on my next project. The owner called me and seemed like a very nice guy.

Very easy to deal with. Laid everything out & was open & honest about the repair work. Explained everything to me since I have no idea what I'm dealing with. So there were no unexpected surprises. Very happy with their work and professionalism. I'll definitely be using them again.
Myguy was recommended to me by my HVAC guy, and before calling I read reviews on google (why are almost all of the Yelp reviews filtered? They're not all fake, Yelp!) and looked them up on the Better Business Bureau website. Everything checked out and I gave them a call. Was told there was a fee for coming out to do the estimate but that it would be absorbed into the price if I ended up using them. Mike (and apprentice) showed up within 20 minutes of the text that announced they were on the way, so they were on time. They both were wearing 2 masks which I appreciated, and when they entered my crawl space, wore booties. The pricing seemed reasonable and Mike actually ended up saving me some money by pointing out some reasons why I didn't need one of the items I had wanted to install. He also made some great suggestions like a WiFi shut off valve for my main water valve since this is a secondary property I must be vigilant on winterizing it.
My outdoor shower was broken and MyGuy pluming did an exceptional job from making the appt to finishing the job with top notch!!! When I called for an appt, they were booked completely but told me they will put me in for float ...Gina called back for opening in Friday afternoon! When they came, they were so professional and explained the options I had. I end up putting new outdoor shower and it exceed my expectations! He redid my old pipe to new one under basement area before due to poor original set up before he put the new shower. Ryan and his team were excellent and professional. I will definitely used this company !!! Ryan went above and beyond for my outdoor shower! Thank you so much.

Ryan did a great job with my plumbing needs. He was quick and efficient,. His prices are fair and he tells you right up front exactly how much the job will cost. He is very knowledgeable and friendly. I did not realize all the different types of plumbing he does. I will definitely use him again next time I need any type of plumbing done. I will also recommend him to people I know.ah
Very fast response, clean and professional work. Took the time to explain what was wrong and how they were going to fix the problem. I would recommend any day.
