ABOUT BUSINESS OWNER
The owner Keith Ballentine grew up in Montclair, attended Mt. Hebron Middle School & Montclair High School. He graduated in 1984. Directly after High School he started working for a local electrician, Bush Electric. To this day he is still friends with Daniel Bush the owner. Dan Bush's moto was Perfect is plenty good enough... Keith works to keep the same standards he was taught in the very beginning.
After several years Keith changed jobs and joined local 102. This was a great experience to be able to work at the Exxon refinery, Barnett Hospital and see all facets of electrical work. He started his business in 1992 because the work picture with the union got slow. His new company focused mainly on Residential & Commercial work. Started as a one man operation has fluctuated between 4-8 employees over the last 16 years. He realizes bigger is not better and focuses his business on doing the best job possible.

Henry from KB was quick, efficient and friendly. Needed repair of fan in basement bathroom that had stopped. He checked it, went out to get a new one and was done 5 minutes after he returned. he even cleaned the old cover that was coated in dust. Price was very reasonable too.

Wow...this company is amazing! I called before 11am for a kitchen outlet repair. Joe and Ricky showed up at 1130am, finished everything including fixing my doorbell and troubleshooting a couple other issues I have around the house by 1230pm. Best part...I didn't get ripped off! They were upfront with the cost and hourly rate and how long they would take. They didn't try to nickel and dime me or try to take the longest route to fix the problem. Very honest and competent. This is what you call a Professional. I just want to acknowledge them for such a great job and being amazing people. Would recommend them and will use them again in the future.

Just had an appointment with Darwin and Nick and they were terrific! Called to let me know they were on their way over and showed up on time, at the beginning of the appointment window. They split a line to create two GFCI outlets, and also installed a full-home surge protector. They were efficient, neat, and worked without a lot of noise (no small thing...I have had folks working in my house yelling from the basement to the first floor and also people who created great messes as they worked). they patiently explained their work as well. I've used KB electrics services on several different occasions. Each time it was a very pleasant experience. It's hard to get a good electrician around where I'm at. They also have a great apprenticeship program which is big for me. The electrician assigned to my home was even teaching me stuff while he was training the apprentice! I will definitely be using these guys in the future. The issues they repaired in my home were non functioning outlets and light fixtures. I've never had to call twice for the same issue. Well worth the money.

Very disappointed. The young journeyman electrician was clearly clueless and took tremendous amount of time to work in the home. He made a complete mess of 2 parallel mounted 3 way switches. Keith, the owner of KB Charged a fortune arguing it was based on time regardless the 4th switches did not work I learned the switches were wired entirely wrong by KB's crew. One entire 3way circuit lighting my 2nd floor hallway would not turn on from either location. On 2nd 3 way circuit, only one switch location worked, but only if the other location with was in the on position. When called back, owner refused to correct or refund money. Was unconscionably arrogant. Refused to offer to return to correct the damaged work.
Clearly there is no supervision of KB's on site crews and no sense of ownership of poor workmanship and lack of skills. Finally the arrogance and complete lack of any sense of responsibility or consideration of the client.
Greenway Electric came and explained the disaster that was left by KB and in short order corrected KB's mess. All switches and lights work fine now thanks to Nick from Greenway Electric,
I would strongly discourage hiring KB based on technical incompetence, imperious attitude and complete lack of professional service mindset or personal integrity.
Do not call KB. Call an electrician that supervises their crews or better yet where the licensed owner comes on site and supervises and stands behind their work.
Starting with the communication from their office staff, I was able to get a response immediately. Very courteous and helpful and informative. I had Joe and Darwin arrive as promised to install a new outlet on my hot tub. I am really happy with the pay attention to details work they did and how they left the area cleaner than they arrived. I've used their services twice and will use them again if needed.
Very, very happy with KB Electric.
They were professional and cordial on the phone. They showed up on time. They made a couple of suggestions about my job that worked better than i first thought. They finished swiftly and cleaned up when they were leaving.
Both Frank and Michael were polite, professional, efficient and personable. They did a great job installing an outdoor floodlight.
I will definitely be contacting them for my next job.
I had a big Knob and Tube project which I had to finish in a timely manner.
KB Electric scheduled it in less than a week and were very flexible.
They sent a team that kept the house clean and at the end of each day I couldn't tell they were here.
Egan manages the work and was very nice, explained his work and you could see he knows what he is doing. Anything else I asked him to do he was very happy to help and finish.

We had no lights in several parts of the home.
I called KB and they were able to get me an appointment in a timely manner. The technician Rich, came out to our home on Grove Street in Montclair and assessed the problem right away. He was polite, professional and considerate to my mom (who has Alzheimer's). Very, very pleased with this company!
Did knob and tube remediation. The completed job was more than twice the estimate. I understand that some things may not be known until the work starts, but their in the business and should know this and adjust accordingly.
Disappointing to say the least.

I will not recommend this company.
Here is what transpired. It appears that this company is extremely busy. I spoke to their frontline rep and managed to get an appointment. (Which was two week later)
Fast forward -
5 days before my appointment, one of their reps calls me and left me a message saying Hey R, great news we have availability tomorrow. Due to my work schedule and short noticed I couldn't agree to this proposed appointment.
Now, the next day, another rep left a message to call them back. I called and was told I'm sorry but we have to cancel your appointment my response was why..... there response was we no longer offer service on this day
So I asked, when is the next available date? Hoping and expecting something before my appointment date. NOPE I'll have to wait another two weeks for someone to come (potentially a month to wait for them to come by)
So I barked at them because of the following:
1- I patiently waited almost two weeks for service
2- short noticed on there end for letting me know that they no longer offer service on the date of my appointment. (So then why booked me for this date)
4- they also tried to make it seem that we never had an agreed appointment for this date (if we didn't have a scheduled appointment, then why are you calling me rescheduled - which didn't make sense to me)
3- their failure to accommodate for there mistake (the best they offered was two weeks from now)
4- Manager didn't give F about this problem (with an attitude)
I can't recommend a company who don't care about their customers.
They may have experience guys who do the work well but there are other companies that have the same
Money can be spent somewhere else where they care and appreciate the customers.
Great service for electrical work and reasonable price. Responded to the request in a timely manner. Highly recommend.

I had no heat or electricity in half my house on Sunday. Richie came within an hour of my call Monday morning, diagnozed the problem, and fixed it. I would recommend them to my neighbors.
Guy took over three hours to diagnose problem. Had assistant install outlets while he couldn't figure out what was wrong with the one that wasn't working. Starting running new wire and the got it working cost over $700. Wouldn't use them again.
My wife and I have been looking for a quality electrician to do some work in our old colonial home. We had contacted one company recommended to us by our realtor- the company didn't seem at all interested in the work and it seemed like a very small operation. Another electrician was referred to us who ghosted us after we asked him for his license number. We had seen KB Electric vans all over town and we had also heard they were the most expensive. However, after working with KB Electric, I will continue to work with them for all my electrical needs and would recommend them to anyone.
From the first phone call, they were professional, courteous, friendly, and attentive. The office manager was extremely personable and helpful in securing time for the estimator to come out and assess the scope of the project. Our estimator was very knowledgeable and relatable. We were sent an email with an estimate the next day and we were contacted about a time for the team to complete the work within a 48 hours.
The team that worked on our home was phenomenal. Henrry, Mike, and Chris were friendly, professional, and I enjoyed our interactions. Everything felt very comfortable and I felt that I was well taken care of. The guys explained everything they were doing, consulted me before drilling any holes, were honest, and cleaned up after themselves when the job was done.
As for the price- I had consulted on their estimate with my father, who is an architect and works with electricians on his projects, and he felt the prices were very fair.
I am extremely satisfied with KB Electric and look forward to our next project together!

What a pleasure to deal with this company.
We needed hardwired smoke detectors replaced in our townhouse, and wanted a dimmer & GFI replaced in the kitchen.
I called KB at 8 am and spoke to Joe who asked for details and offered to send someone the next morning. He gave me a reasonable price range and we set up the appointment. About 10 mins later I got a call offering to send someone within the hour. As I had the day off, I agreed and in 30 mins, Ian showed up.
He was quick, knowledgeable, neat and polite. He finished everything in less than 45 mins, and billed me less than the price I had expected.
If only all companies were such professionals...
I asked for an estimate to install my ring doorbell and flood lights and was told it would be 1-2.5 hours max. I explained the house was old, did my research and got a WiFi range extender like suggested and used this company from a recommendation from the citizens of Bloomfield group. The installation was as estimated and the two electricians were knowledgeable but they couldn't get it to work consistently so they had to contact the help line and what followed was the electrician's saying it's not my work and ring was well it's not our product so it took another 2 or so hours to finally get it to work. And the bill for this was $400 more than the estimate. I wanted a professional to get this done the right way but I should not have to pay for you needing help from customer service. And the sad part is that it all came down to them flipping off the breaker for a full minute and switching it back on. My heart is sad right now.

I reached out to KB about a GFCI that was tripping. Henry came out within 2 days and addressed the issue quickly. Not only that he explained what and why he was doing it as well as giving me options. I had another issue that i just remembered and Henry was happy to take a look at it. This was an issue i was told by another electrician could not be fixed. Henry diagnosed the issue immediately and fixed it within the hour. I will be asking for Henry anytime i have an issue. Also the price was very reasonable.
Also to add, he wore a mask and cleaned up behind himself.

KB is great! I have had them do work several times. Not only do they respond to your calls but very knowledgeable and can fix any electrical issue you are experiencing. They fixed all my electrical problems in my old house.

Our dining room new light fixture randomly just stopped working after 2 months from my installation. I tried trouble shooting for hours and just couldn't figure it out. Ramiro came by this morning on time and found that it was the circuit breaker that was corroded.
I was extremely happy no walls had to be opened up! He was very professional, clean, and even installed a light fixture in another room.
I would highly recommend KB electric to anyone especially if their electricians are as good as Ramiro.

We knew when we moved into our new home that we had several electrical issues that would need to be addressed. KB Electric was the first to respond to my inquiry and sent out an assessor to gauge the job. What I really appreciated about the assessor was that he listened to what my concerns were and took note of the items I listed, but didn't try to sell me on any extra changes (unless it was a safety issue). We were surprised by how quickly our project was booked...Henry and his crew of two came for a full day to repair all of our items. They were very friendly and also patient when we asked a lot of questions. While fixing the requested problems, he and the crew unearthed old knob and tube wiring on a few of our outlets and walked us through what it would take to fix that. Absolutely no pressure from him to make a decision then and there. He outlined the procedure to fix it and gave a rough time/cost for repair and then recommended we think on it and call if we wanted it done. Very happy with the current repairs and very happy with the advice for the future.
This is the third time we've used KB and we are always happy. Hennry was excellent and took care of all 4 different things we needed fixed.

Excellent! Very happy with the work Ralph and Sam did at my house. They were super friendly, super fast, did a nice neat job and cleaned up after themselves. Will definitely hire again.
Henry and his partner were awesome, the installation is exactly what we wanted and it turned out great, even patching the holes that were made initially.
I did subtract a star for the organization to get them out here. I went through 4 different contracts before there was one i could sign, the office staff consistently got wrong the # of lights, switches, even my name and address in the paperwork ahead of the appointment. This was a relatively simple job, and it took over a dozen emails to get this right.
Ultimately, so happy with the finished product, but the contract process could deter some people

Really screwed me over. Left me waiting twice and called late to say they couldn't make it. Not impressed at all. WIll never call them again. Found a much nicer, more professional electrician who did the job quickly and efficiently and came when they said they would.
Great service. Fixed our old problems in less than a day. Reasonable prices. Staff was safe w masks due to Covid. Arrived on time. And most importantly addressed our electrical issues and no problems since!!

I don't think your being in business for 20 years is even relevant to this conversation. Actually, it makes you look even sadder that you couldn't figure out what the problem was. Let me clarify and reiterate a few things here:
1) My HVAC system was installed 7 years ago. A: so you think that it's reasonable for me to call the A/C guys up after all this time to demand that they fix the issue for free, but you don't think it's reasonable for me to expect even a discount on your service call charge when you send me someone who doesn't know what on earth he's doing? B: if my A/C company didn't do the work correctly the first time, why in the world would I want them to come back to do the work again a 2nd time? C: are you basically saying that you are incapable of fixing a bad wiring job and only able to work on new construction? If that's the case, you're working in the wrong neighborhood.
2) The electrician who I hired after you was in NO way associated with the people who installed my HVAC system. Let me point out that he did not reach into his bag of excuses to explain to me that only the original installers of my HVAC could fix my problem. He simply fixed it. How far back does your lame excuse go by the way? If my knob and tube wiring that was installed in 1925 goes south, do you ask your customers to contact the original installer to fix the problem too?
3) You say that your technician tested multiple wire runs and the readings were inconclusive. Let me translate this gibberish. The electrician you sent to my house (who looked like this was his first job out of school btw) spent 20 minutes probing the wiring with a device I could have bought at Home Depot and confirmed to me that my thermostat was broken. Thank you, but I already knew that. Sorry, but when I hired a 20 years in the business electrician I was expecting him to bring some knowledge with him along with his gadgets. The only reason he stayed a full hour was because if you were going to make me spend $135 for nothing, I might as well try to put him to work. The other 40 minutes of his time was spent diagnosing other electrical questions I had that had nothing to do with what you were hired for. Everyone makes mistakes, everyone has a first job, and I'm not expecting you to know how to complete every job that you're given. But what's really disappointing is that you can't own it when you've made a mistake and you continue to double down on your bad stories. Be fair and reasonable to your customers and you keep them for life. It's not that complicated.

Ramiro and Daniel were at our home all day replacing 3 light fixtures, installing several new toggle switches and 2 sets of smart switches throughout our home. They did an amazing job especially given all of the old original 1920s wiring which they fixed and made sure was to code. They were extremely professional and communicative - explaining things along the way. They also did a very thorough cleaning of their workspaces. Henry came into our home and made necessary repairs to our outdoor outlet. He was very professional and I would definitely use KB Electric again!
That are Ok..no shoe protection. But fixed the issues. Charged for 1.75 hrs but worked only 1.5 hrs.

We moved into our home last summer and hired a different company to remove knob & tube. Based on today's visit by Ramiro @ KB Electric we should have hired KB Electric. Ramiro solved our issue in a matter of minutes and provided a clear explanation of what had gone wrong (wear and tear), and took steps to make sure that we didn't run into a similar issue in the future. Ramiro was forthcoming in offering clear, indispensable advice and, additionally, was very nice! He arrived wearing a mask and took all the appropriate safety precautions. Ramiro provided absolutely stellar service, and he and KB Electric will absolutely be the first people we call in the future when we run into electrical issues. There's a reason that this company is rated so highly. Thank you, Ramiro!
Disappointed...I had a kitchen light fixture replaced. I checked Home Depot before he went to get my replacement light and they had six in stock. However, he claimed they didn't have any so he got something similar that he preferred. The only problem is that Home Depot didn't sell the light he purchased in the store-only online. I believe, the rep gave me something he already had in his truck, did not go to Home Depot, yet charged me $125 for an hour to/from Home Depot. I was also charged $100 for parts when the light fixture he gave me only cost $43. I received a call back to my initial email to them but it would cost me another $125 service call fee in order for me to get what I asked for to begin with. I will not use them again!

KB Electric did great work on some light fixture removals and installation for me. The work had to be done in stages, and I was struck by the punctuality and professionalism of both crews. Frank and his partner did the initial removal and were polite and prompt and very communicative, efficient and clean in the removal work. Darwin and his partner were back two weeks later to install new fixtures, and again they were very professional and did a great job. I can definitely recommend KB for home electrical work in the Montclair area.
Excellent detailed service and final results on a somewhat complex lighting job. Put in a wireless system as well as manual switches and all works great. Henry who was the foreman on the project was knowledgeable , flexible, and made sure things were done right and working. I'll use them again anytime.

Romero and Chris installed three new lights, a new thermostat, and upgraded outlets in our house that was built in 1897. Our wiring is old and tricky. I was impressed by how they were able to move a ceiling light and install a new hallway sconce with cutting the tiniest holes to route the new wiring. We've used KB for a number of projects around the house. They are knowledgeable, efficient and cost effective. We just had under cabinet lighting go out and they were available next day to help us with our issue. Henry came in and diagnosed the issue (and also fixed a second light that had not worked since we bought the house). Quick trip to Home Depot, and now we have two working lights in slightly more than an hour of work time. As always, great service.
Called the office and they were so accommodating with the scheduling. Super professional! Henry came to service my new home and did a fantastic job. He not only performed an inspection but he also made on the spot fixes and cleaned up after ! He also provided thoughtful recommendations for future work on the house.
I can't say enough about KB Electric and especially the team they sent me, Egan, Chris, Darwin and Von. They took on an entire knob and tube remediation less than two weeks before our house closing. This team explained everything every step of the way, kept the house clean and most importantly finished within my time frame. They worked in the boiling heat with the electric a/c turned off. Great and satisfying service. Had them add outlets in basement along with other lighting work. Asked them to check out a separate issue in the kitchen on top of what was first inspected and quoted and they fixed that too. Will use them again in the future for other work we need outside.

I had technician Richie come out to give me an estimate on a job I needed done. He was so nice & quite knowledgeable. I scheduled the job through the office staff who were easy to work with & very accommodating. Technician Ramiro came to do the job with his assistant Mike. What a wonderful job they did. This company has the best customer service! They were quick to respond to calls and messages and gave a call a day prior confirming the appointment. Also, the tech, Henry was amazing. I had a problem with my garage that will eventually be a very big project. Henry could have easily said Have a nice day, this is really all I can do - but instead he worked towards a fix and explained everything he was doing. We've lived in Montclair NJ for over 20 years and finally decided to ensure all knob and tube was removed from our home. Egan and his team did a terrific job. Egan checked the entire house daily after the work was completed by the team and our inspection by the town was just completed with no issues. We expected the house to be a mess during the removal but were very surprised at how clean the working area was at the end of each day. Any holes in the wall were made with surgical precision and much smaller than we anticipated The team arrived on time each day and always wore masks while in our home. Everyone was very professional, from the initial scheduling and communication through completion of the work. Thank you Egan and KB Electric!

We had a short on one of our circuits. Called KB and Karen had someone by us the following morning. Ramiro showed up earlier than expected which was awesome! Super nice guy. Found the problem rather quickly. It was a loose connection in an improperly installed junction box in the attic. So in less than 2 hours we were back in action. Absolute great experience. Friendly, knowledgeable and quick. Definitely will recommend and use again.
Showed up early, price was as estimated, service person took time to walk me through what he had done on new outdoor motion sensor light install, adjusted it to my request and was polite. I use KB every time and highly recommend them.

I've had several home electrical projects completed by KB recently (light fixtures installations, new electrical panel, EV car charger, new outlets, smart light switches). Their service was excellent. All of the electricians showed up on-time for the scheduled work and they all wore masks and followed the local public health guidelines ( this was very much appreciated). I was particularly impressed with Henry's work installing our new lights and patching our ceilings afterwards. I'm very happy with all the work they did.
KB remediated the knob and tube in my ca. 1886 home. The teams were fast and professional. They did a great job of minimizing the size of the holes in my plaster walls. When they had questions they asked our opinion, so I got exactly what I wanted.
I hired them to patch as well and they did a good job. They then swiffered and washed my wood floors when they were done! Very impressive.
The only reason that this is not a 5 star review is that they did manage to add a number of fairly sizable and deep scratches to my relatively newly refinished wood floors.

I asked KB to replace a switch and advise me on some problems with my radiant heating. Ramiro was helpful and knowledgeable. He arrived on time on a holiday and respected the fact that people were asleep in my house. He took the trouble and time to explain the issues with my radiant heating, and left the breaker for the system on the off position, with all the wiring neatly capped off and tucked in the boxes under covering plates. He put in a new light switch and plug. I was impressed by the way he resolved the issue with the plug as well: he had the specil hardware he needed to secure the connection in the box, which had originally been sloppily installed. This is only the latest in a series of good encounters I've had with KB. I recommend them.
Great experience from scheduling the appointment to completion of repair work. The technician - Richie - was on-time, courteous, and efficient. Very fair and reasonable cost. I will call KB for future work.

I called to get one 'peace of mind' job done: a plumber left me with an electrical condition that I was not happy with. He said it was fine, but my overall dissatisfaction with him left me doubtful, and I was losing sleep over it.
I told the KB office person that this was just a quick job, send one guy, might take an hour. With the bad experience of that plumber in my mind, I was anxious about another overpriced and less than quality tradesman in my home.
From the minute Ramiro walked in my door, I was at ease. Everything safe, neat, with no shortcuts. With the junction box open anyway, I asked it this was a good time to add another outlet. No problem. Then a kitchen light issue: no problem. Quick look at another switch? No problem.
Long story short: like any house, there are little things that come up over time. I already told Ramiro that I would be seeing him in the summer for other work. Who looks forward to seeing their electrician? If KB hires and keeps this kind of tradesman, they must be doing something right.
Woke up to discover that furnace wasn't working because of an electrical problem. Called KB and an electrician named Orlando arrived within an hour. He was friendly and explained everything he did. He diagnosed and fixed the problem quickly. He even fixed two other small, unrelated electrical problems that we were dealing with. He was in and out and we were left to enjoy our Saturday. I would definitely call KB again and recommend them to others. They're probably all great but I'll ask for Orlando again.
KB did a fantastic job in our home. They were friendly, helped explain things clearly, worked diligently and took a week less time than we had originally anticipated. We worked with Alicia, Darwin, Joe, Ricky and Dennis and they were all excellent. We will definitely be using them again for all of our electrician needs.
We have used KB Electric for years at our West Orange home. We needed a lot of work done at our house as it needed many electrical upgrades. From dealing with the office, Alicia is always friendly, fast and courteous. She schedules us in right away and makes appoints sometimes in the same day!
We called KB recently to update our exterior outlets. Mark came over in the same day, troubleshooted the problem and made the necessary repairs. He saved us money and explained every step in his work.
I would definitely recommend KB Electric to anyone who is looking for honest, reliable and knowledgeable electricians. Their rates are very fair for the work that is being performed. We will always continue to use them for our home. Thanks KB!

I was really pleased with Henry's work today. Faced with a fluorescent light fixture that wouldn't work, Henry methodically diagnosed the problem, walking me through the steps along the way, fixed it quickly (he wisely keeps some basic parts in his truck), and was friendly and professional along the way. I would gladly have Henry and KB do more work on my home.
Henry and his partner were awesome! Fixed everything. Explained everything in terms I could understand. They're coming back to do some additional work.
Recently had a ceiling fan installed. Henry did a great job, where I had a problem with is the fact I was charged 3% for using my credit card. $125.00 per hour,plus parts. it took 3 1/2 hours to install?????? And because I used my credit card I was charged extra. I'm not sure if I'll be using them again.
PS: because it took so long to install the ceiling I was unable to have Henry install a couple of wall sockets. I was afraid that would have taken an additional hour or two.
Saw the signs everywhere so we trusted them. They showed up on time but weren't nice. Wanted $550 to change two electric outlets. Charged us $130 for the visit. Then they called us EVERY DAY for their $130. We paid them. Still they call EVERY DAY. Clearly not focused on our needs. Only focused on billing. Do NOT recommend Them.

We had called SIX electricians trying to get someone to come re-tether the electric wires that had come loose from our house. Four did not even return our phone call, and one did not have the right equipment. KB answered the phone and set up the appointment right away, and their electrician showed up exactly on time and got the repair done very quickly. Henry is my guy!! He moved lighting fixtures, rewired switches, and fixed outdoor lighting in my home. He is always prompt and thorough. He's super friendly and gets everything done right. Highly recommend.

I seldom review electricians mainly because I have yet to find a good honest company. Richie was my electrician and he helped replace a faulty breaker/receptacle. He assessed and moved swiftly to do the repair---let's just say this is NOT a newbie electrician. KB charges an hourly rate, but fair for how quickly he completed the job. They do charge a separate materials fee which may seem expensive but for the service rendered (and saving time running to your home improvement store), it's worth it. I would use them again and have no issues recommending them to my clients in the future. Leave it to the pros and they are one of them!

We moved to the area the end of the summer and have used KB exclusively. They came highly recommended from our broker and they have not disappointed. Their work is very high quality and they are extremely dependable. They've come for a few small jobs (including knob and tube inspection and fixture installation) and finished all on time and done really well. But the main work was extensive electrical work before we moved in--installing overhead lights, outlets, grounding outlets and a punch list of items from our inspection. I had no idea how much I wanted done until I walked through with them. I can't stress enough how great a job they did. Ramiero led a team through almost a week of work. He's thorough, meticulous, courteous, responsive and just all around trustworthy and great. Because we weren't moved in at the time, we had to defer a lot of aesthetic calls to him--everything was on point. He listened carefully when we did an initial walkthrough of the work, and used that input from me to guide his work. Everything was perfect. He also had to coordinate substantially with our painters, and he made what could have been a nightmare totally painless and easy. I also had Larry out for another job and he was dependable and professional.
I don't have a frame of reference for cost, but I couldn't be more satisfied with their work. They are very transparent on cost but also are reasonable. I never had any concern that I was getting anything less than good value.

KB did some knob and tube remediation on my old Victorian. These guys are fast and organized--it felt like a swarm descended on the house--and kept on schedule when I wanted to add a couple extra outlets. Egan is a master with old homes and figured out how to run modern electrical to and old Newell post fixture embedded in the staircase. He's also quite a character and it's fun to watch him direct traffic. Will hire KB again when we start remodeling.
Beware! They are fine for small jobs for for bigger ones- do yourself a favor and hire someone for a flat fee. They spend about an hour just looking around and going back to their truck numerous times. Then right at 430 they will leave job finished or not. The guys are hired hands who seem to hate their jobs and being tracked for every move they make by headquarters. Definitely will not use them again!
Update: not surprisingly Keith jumped on here trying to lie about his terrible employees & attack my honest review. Unfortunately you don't get to lie about some perverted & aggressive employees behaving badly. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree here at all. I have a police report proving what happened. What do you have Keith? You're extremely hostile. Perhaps you should consider an anger management class. And coming from someone who has run a successful business for years, my advice is have your employees attend a sexual harassment course, go to a few AA meetings & enroll in an electricians class or two. You are welcome.

Our experience with KB was exceptional. This was due solely to the foreman handling our job - Egan and his team.
Egan and team arrived on time each day at exactly 8 am. I work from home and he and his team were professional, respectful and quiet enabling me to work uninterrupted.
He managed the job with military precision-keeping watch over each team member while constantly managing the job, teaching, and enforcing safety.
They were very respectful to me and to my home - only making the smallest and fewest of holes within the scope of the job. They cleaned up each day so that you wouldn't even know that had been here. Our home is over 100 yrs old so this was no easy job. All of our knob and tube has been removed and replaced and updated. They even finished the job in less time than first estimated.
I would recommend KB - especially Egan and his team (Paulie & others) to anyone needing electrical work.
This was the Best experience we have had in our twenty years of homeownership. Thank You so much.
Official electrician I feel completely safe with this company doing work in my house a little pricey but the quality of work more than justify the cost so keep up the great work I highly recommend you guys.

As we prepare to leave our sold house prior to closing, we experienced two serious and material electrical problems. I called KB Electric and Ramiro came today and trouble shot the issues. He replaced a very old and nonfunctioning fixture with a new LED fixture to match color and intensity of the other three older fixtures above the dining room table. Second, he carefully troubleshot an old electrical system with unique wiring very methodically, and finally solved the reason why certain lights weren't working. He was factual, considerate and understanding of the dilemma we faced as sellers to prepare our house for final closing. My only regret is that we are moving 148 miles away and can't use KB Electric and Ramiro again in the Berkshire Mountains of Massachusetts.
I was looking forward to working with KB given their positive reviews. Unfortunately, I couldn't get through the back office. I had about two weeks worth of miscommunication hearing different things from different office staff each time i called, an estimate that never included significant material costs, promises of return calls and updated estimates that never happened, and an office manager who insisted she told me things that I never heard. Better luck to the next customer!

We are so pleased to have used KB electric. We put recessed lighting in our living room and bedroom, and added a motion sensor light over our garage door. Everything looks great and there is minimal patching needed after all the work was finished. They even included it in the quote given. The guys were able to finish it in the time frame given and were very professional. We will be using KB whenever we have to get any electrical work done on our house.

He was very knowledgeable and answered every (dumb) question I may have had with the answer and the reason why which made it a very useful learning experience. His work spoke for itself, very cleanly installed and if there were any snags he presented them and gave logical workarounds for solutions and we decided what was best. He installed Five 2-port USB 3 Prong outlets and one bedroom ceiling fan and did a fantastic job. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone in the surrounding Montclair area.
I have to say that Kieth and his team are the best. They repaired the electric panel and installed a few outlets in one day, and the cost was very reasonable and competitive.
I will have no trouble recommending KB electric to anyone.

Ramiro of KB Electric responded to a partial power outage in my apartment and was the consummate professional. Despite it being a holiday weekend, he was punctual and pleasant and very motivated to solve the problem. I was impressed with his work as a diagnostician, thoroughly asking questions, inspecting my unit, breaker boards, outlets, and the basement. He was very attuned to both practical and safety issues. He was very respectful of my home and patient when things needed to be moved around so that he could gain access to different things. He explained what he was doing, but also allowed me to continue with my day so his presence was clear but not intrusive. I typically find workmen in the home stressful, but not with Ramiro. I enjoyed working with him, trusted his judgment and expertise, and after a very thorough investigation he solved the problem. Very professional and great customer service.

I've used KB a number of times for work around the house, generally replacing fixtures and adding outlets. Our house is almost 100 years old so I want to make sure whoever is working here understands the conditions they'll be working with. Our recent tech Larry lived up to their reputation - he was quick, considerate, and incredibly neat. He installed a couple fixtures as well as some recessed lighting and really took the time to examine the best areas and places to put them. And the office staff is just as good - if they're not around to pick up the phone, they will call you back - unheard of! Scheduling is also super easy.
Recommended to me by a friend. Called on Tuesday, they said they'd be here on Thursday between 9:30a and 11:30a - they called on Wed to confirm and HENRY was here at 10:30a on Thursday - he was super, extremely helpful and did great work during his 2 hours here. Their prices are comparable and reasonable. I'll definitely, positively use them again.
Ramiro came to our house to troubleshoot a power failure in multiple places in our house. Ramiro was very nice, patient and pleasant to work with. He worked hard to assess and fix the problem. He even was sweet to our large and crazy dog. I'd call on Ramiro any time to work on our house. Looking forward to working with Ramiro and KB again soon.

I've used them on multiple occasions for work on an old house. Both teams -- first Egan and Paul, and then Leo and Vinnie -- were prompt, courteous, and efficient. The work they did is operating without bumps, and that's what you want in electricians. I would definitely use them again.

She knows the electricians and their work. She knows their strong points and she knows exactly who to send out on jobs. She knows which staff works best with which type of client because interaction is just as important as the work. Alicia is great with slotting appointments and really works hard to move staff around to meet the client's schedule. It is also impressive that Alicia knows her clients by name. KB electric works all over the area and they have a lot of clients so for Alicia to remember names and addresses of jobs off the top of her head is impressive. The electricians and the administrative staff at KB electric are exceptional. The owner, Keith, should feel fortunate that he has Alicia to keep the business running on all cylinders and keeping clients satisfied.
