Johnny Drain's Sewer & Drain Cleaning

My kitchen sink was draining slowly and I wasted $30.00 on a DIY twenty five foot snake which wasn't long enough to get to the blockage. I called Johnny Drain on Sunday morning at 10:00AM and he was at my home at noon, just as he promised.
The quarter inch snake that he thought would clean the blockage didn't work and he went back to his truck for what he said was the big gun. Twenty minutes later the drain was working perfectly!
Johnny's fee was very reasonable and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone who has sewer or drain problems. Professional and courteous service.

I've called Johnny since 2013 for 5 different issues between 2 different houses.  He has been my go-to-guy for clogs because he solves the issue the first time, explains the plumbing architecture, gives a good price, and is just a funny, honorable guy with many good stories.

Johnny is punctual and has helped me on Memorial Day weekend and also on Sunday.  Johnny solved my most recent drain issue where dirty water from the sink was coming out of the bathtub.  Johnny solved that problem in ten minutes by snaking the sink drain and explained everything to me.

Johnny is one of those valued contractors who you hope keeps running the business for many years.

It was one of those days from hell. I just worked 12 hours straight and I was feeling exhausted, hungry and just looking forward to going home. So around 8pm on a Thursday night, my wife forwarded a text from my tenant that water is backing up in the basement. Freaking great..

I go straight from work without tools and in my office clothes - I'm ill equipped. Forgetting I used Johnny Drain before I do a yelp search for drain clogs and call some chuckle head with nearly 100 reviews from Yelpers with no friends and less than 5 reviews each. I'm suspect, but kinda desperate. The guy on the phone chuckles a bit and says oh you want me tonight? that will be $485. Um, what? How much for tomorrow? $285. Yeah, NO thanks.

I remember I used Johnny Drain before when my tenant's kids thought it would be fun to flush momma's swimsuit down the toilet. I call him and he gets down to business with a much more down to earth price and says he can be at my door in 45 min. SOLD.

He gets there, brings in his big electric snake (auger), opens the main and pulls out a large wad of paper towels (Bounty, the quicker picker upper!), runs the snake through as I watch the high tide subside!

Johnny is professional, responded and was at my door within an hour of calling and works fast! You can try those discount places that charge you that discount price for every hole they stick their snake into whether it needs it or not (sink - ca-ching, toilet - ca-ching, sewer main - ca-ching.. then don't forget taxes and fees) or give Johnny a call where he gives you a set reasonable price, then takes care of business. Seems like a no brainer.

Johnny is probably one of the best experts/professionals in this area!  Not only does he have the experience, skills, tools, and amazing overall character, he is also a person that never, ever, ever gives up and puts himself in our shoes.  His prices are reasonable, and he is responsive.  He is also very passionate about his craft, which means he is the right person for the job.

My story begins with a second story bathroom sink that was very, very slowly draining.  I call him up today, and he tells me he can be there within the hour.  Within 55 minutes, he comes and he does not stop working for over 3 hours.  

He snaked it several times, blow air pressure into the pipe, and we thought it was fixed, but he checked and it was still not draining.  He checked the pipes below and snaked against gravity (still amazing).  No luck.  He had a small camera go through the pipes.  

All the time, he is working non-stop and is not giving up.  He is also thinking of different possibilities.

Finally, he considers it is a T junction where there is another drain.  He does a MacGyver and bends his tools to see if it can go to this hidden drain.  He continues to push into the drain, and guess what, IT WORKS!!!!

Plus, he is a great teacher and explains in a great way.  

Johnny is the only person.  My only fear is that he retires.

My toilet was flushing so slow due clogging inside the pipe. I called him to come to stop my house to fix the toilet. He used his snake tool to go through down inside the toilet to release clogged material. Now it is flushing normal.

Johnny  arrive within 90 minutes,and fixed the problem right away    He was very nice and provided follow up information

I used Johnny several times now in the last 3 years for my property. I've had my share of nightmares with plumbers -inexperience, unreliable, expensive etc. Johnny is reliable and honest and fairly priced.
My property in Queens had a sewage backup yesterday and I called Johnny for help. He was there at 7pm. And again today for 3 hours unclogging a sewage line for the whole street(7 houses). He really came through for me and his rate is 1/2 of roto-rooter.

This guy is the real deal. I had called Johnny up letting him know that I had snaked my own drain 25 feet and needed a pro to come in. He managed to arrive the next day with a couple of augers at hand. The first 35 footer did not do the trick. Then a second, much larger auger ended up not doing the trick either. From there, he tried sending some pressurized air down the drain. That didn't work. He then tried sending some pressure with a garden hose into the drain, but the pressure was too much for a part of the piping downstairs and it began to leak.

At that point I'm starting to lose faith, when Johnny decides it's time to divide and conquer. He moves forward with cutting the length of the drain pipe in half (I had nearly 50 feet of PVC from the sink to the main) and tackle the problem that way. After some messiness, Johnny managed to send pressure down the second half of the pipe and hallelujah... all was good again. Pipe was fitted back together, parts put back together underneath my kitchen sink, and I am now back to an endless cycle of washing baby bottles.

What I appreciated most about Johnny was the keen troubleshooting skills he took to figure out what was up.  It took a little bit of time, but he did come to the conclusion that the sludge in the drain was just sealing up the pipes as soon as you could pull out the snake (like quicksand, as he described it). Hopefully the pressure by the hose and water bladder were able to force it down and away for good.

After years of disrespecting kitchen sinks that were not my own (as a renter & tenant), I will now and forever no longer dump bacon grease down my drain as a homeowner.

Our kitchen sink drain was leaking and he called me back right away.  He asked me to take a few pictures of the affected area and he was able to tell me right away what he needed to do and an estimate.  He arrived on time, was courteous, efficient, explained (and showed) what he was going to do.  In under an hour, the job was done and we could use our sink without a drip bucket under the pipes.

Our basement ejector pump broke and Johnny responded quickly came by the following day. He quickly identified the issue and replaced the broken pump with a new one. He is efficient and knowledgeable and his pricing is very reasonable. He is the guy to go with if you have any emergency sewer/drain issue.

Johnny showed up on New Year's day when most people weren't picking up their phones. He helped us get our main sewer unclogged. He was polite and speedy. We were so relieved to be able to use water in the house without worrying about sewer water backing up into the house. We like to support local businesses and will definitely be using Johnny's services again.

Johnny was able to clear the blockage in my bathroom tub.  Very good same day service.

Johnny did a late night plumbing save for our family.  Called him in need of help and he showed up a few hours later, had another job but still made it to us and fixed what was wrong.  Got down to the basement and assessed where the main issue was decisively.  Was able to fix our issue even with me asking all these extra questions. After having my original plumber fail to snake my kitchen pipe and suggested cutting open pipes in the basement, I did some research and found the expert on drains - Johnny.

Johnny was friendly and a seasoned professional. He took a look at the issue and got my sink running for the first time in 10 years. He used a 75 foot electrical snake - and found two blockages down the pipes.

My mom called him for a clogged bathtub drain and he quoted her $150- which is ridiculous! Also then got rude when she said that seems high. And he decided to say well I'm not 49.99 drain cleaners. And continued to be rude..really don't appreciate you speaking to anyone like that. And I did get my drain cleaned for $50 bucks and it wasn't 49.99 drain cleaner. I would suggest you not being an a**hole on the phone next time...you lost my business forever, and we own several homes in flushing!

I am a small business in Douglaston and was deperate to clear a clogged main waste line.  I reached out to the previous business, RotoRooter, who had cleared 2 previous clogs in the past 60 days.  Johnny was quick to respond to my request and fairly priced.  I had originally choose RotoRooter in the past at my plumbers suggestion of the great warrantee.   Not so much!  Johnny was pleasant, quick, and reasonably priced.  He came apporoximately when he said he would. About 2 hours.  He cleared my stoppage and suggested ideas to prevent future issues.  He didn't dispargage RotoRooter and was 1/2 their price.  Sadly, but gladly I will be using him in the future as my issue is with women flushing items down the toilet that are not meant to be.

True professional.  I had a backed up tub that affected the bathroom sink also.  It was a total headache.  I called expecting some sort of automated answering service but I spoke directly to Johnny (my lucky day).  We set up a time to meet and he arrived at the time we agreed on.  He was very polite, and really, just a nice guy.  He looked at the problem and we talked about it, within 15 minutes  the problem was solved.  His work was neat and clean and he knew exactly what he was doing.  His rates are not the cheapest, but its really not expensive either.  I think he charges a fair price for the work that he does.  I have definitely added him to my speed dial for any future plumbing needs.

Had a clogged shower drain that was barely draining. Solid rust and dirt packed in there. John worked on it diligently for a few hours, and got it working again. Prompt service at a reasonable price. Highly recommended.

Absolutely honest, professional and patient. While I didn't actually employ Johnny, he spent several minutes on the phone with me explaining why my new gas stove wasn't working. He certainly didn't have to share his knowledge with me and he certainly could've scheduled an appointment and charged for a visit or extra stuff. But he was candid and sweet and suggested a handyman could do the job of opening the line.

His openness made me write this review and if I ever really need a plumber, Johnny is who I'll call.

Called several people regarding to a clogged pipe in my bathroom. However Johnny was very helpful over the phone and then came quickly. Quoted a reasonable price and did all the work thoroughly. Very professional, polite, and effective. Would highly recommend.

Used Johnny twice for my plumbing problems already(both times sewer backed up). Love his reliability and fairness. The first time he came within a couple of hours and the second time he came within 30 minutes. He is professional and does a quick but good job. First time was $300(outside sewer backup problem) and second time $250. Both job prices, I thought were very fair.

Even though no one really enjoys dealing with plumbing problems it was a pleasure dealing with Johnny.  He answered the phone and was very helpful right from the start.  He arrived very shortly and got right to work .  He was a gentleman and was able to fix the problem quickly and neatly .  I will definitely recommend Johnny to all of my family and friends.

The pit in my basement that houses the water trap for my main drain pipe that leads out to the sewer was backed up. It would fill up with water whenever we used water and the pit would slowly drain. I gave it a few days to clear up on it's own, but alas the pattern kept occurring, so I had to call someone. I know Roto Rooter charges around $500 for snaking, so I searched Yelp and found Johnny to have very good reviews. I called and texted Johnny and he got back to me immediately and came over within 90 minutes. He snacked my drain pipe and cleared up three points of blockage from hygiene products, hair, and some roots. I was so relieved it wasn't anything worse, and Johnny kept his word as he quoted me a price over the phone and that's what he charged me.

I was wondering why no other reviewer here wrote what they paid Johnny, but now I know why. It's because Johnny is such a nice, easy going, and honest guy, that no one here wants to compromise his business and genuinely wants him to do well. I like Johnny, so I'm not going to write how much I paid him, but it was definitely much lower than $500.

I'm glad I called Johnny and now I have a plumber that I can call without hesitation. Thanks man!

Johnny is the man. Dedicated, thorough, honest, and he's seen it all. He's been to our house a couple times, once to clear a backup and once to check our line with his camera. I had originally called 2 other plumbing services.  The first was Roto Rooter who could not quote me over the phone.  They insisted on having to see the problem which they did and then quoted me $1400+ to fix the problem which was insane.  The service person didn't even really go into look at the problem.  He just eyeballed it and quoted me his insane price.  I did not end up using them.  

The second plumbing service was $49.95 guy sewer and drain aka Northern Sewer and Drain.  I called into their office.  The girl who answers the phone was a bit rude and aloof.  I ended up using them due to their pricing.   They snaked the drain and were not able to solve the problem.  It was not $49.95 as they ended up charging me $100+ which did not solve the problem.  They then quoted me the same $1400 that Roto Rooter had quoted me to do their water jet service which was the next resort to get the drain unclogged.

I declined to use $49.95 guy's water jet service as they were just as expensive as RotoRooter.  The most annoying part of the whole thing was that the service person who they sent was pretty pushy about selling me their services even though I told him it was too expensive.  I felt as though I was being sold a used car and had to keep saying NO!  

Eventually he dropped the quoted price and quoted me a lower one as he could see I was not going to budge from the original price even though he kept pushing.  At that point I was pretty irritated since he could of just quoted me the original lower price and not try to nickle and dime me in the first place.  He just kept saying I get paid by the hour regardless if I do the job or not.  

I did not end up paying for their service since at this point I was pretty irritated and annoyed at the pushy salesman talk to pay for their service since snaking it the first time did not solve the problem and they charged me a $100+ for nothing unless you count the pushy salesman talk.

I ended up calling Johnny Drain.  I called him and asked for a quote without mentioning the previous prices of the other services.  His quote was very reasonable and a lot lower than what the other two services were charging.  I ended up paying for the water jet service and also having a dryer checked out.  

Johnny was great.  Real friendly guy who was very knowledgable and also had great prices for the plumbing services he provided.  When quoting me a price he gave me one that was a lot lower than the other guys and also was very prompt and professional.  I felt at ease going with his services as the YELP reviews rated him very highly.  The clogged drain in the basement was taken care of and solved within 30 minutes.  He also provided a seniors discount for my folks and that dropped the price a bit from what he had quoted me on the phone for a further discount.  

I would definitely recommend Johnny for any plumbing problems you may have.  An honest guy who takes pride in his work and knows what he is doing.  It's hard to find a very honest and fairly priced plumber.  I tried to do this by looking through the yellow pages and a lot of them were pretty shady.  I'll definitely be looking to retain Johnny's plumbing services for the future and highly recommend him.  Thanks Johnny Drain!

I went down to my basement to find it flooded and, in a panic, called Johnny Drain based on other Yelp reviews.  He arrived in less than an hour, assessed the problem, and was able to fix the clog in my main sewer pipe.  He also offered recommendations on how to prevent future problems.  His price was very reasonable, and he even helped me clean up the flooding.  I would highly recommend Johnny Drain!

I tried to have Johnny come out to install the shutoff valve today, and because of the previous 3 star review he came out here and then declined the work.

Perhaps 4/5 stars would have been a better initial rating, but 3/5 is perfectly accurate given that he was willing to waste not only his own but also my time to come tell me that the reason he didn't call me back 5 months ago was that something had come up. OK.

On Tuesday, May 3, 2016, Johnny came to Brooklyn - yes - Brooklyn, on time, and ready to tackle our stubborn clog in our main sewer line.  This clog had already defied the skills of a pair of highly recommended plumbers that had spent three hours on it the day before.

Johnny stayed with the job from 11:00am to 5:00pnm, steadily upping the level of snake, air pressure, and water.  The clog was one of the worst he'd seen on his 27 years of unclogging all manner of pipes.

Throughout the job (some would say ordeal), he was even tempered, hard working and even funny.   He worked clean (using a shop vac), communicated clearly about costs, and was confident that he would get the job done..

Needless to say, Johnny cleared the clog.  

We plan to beg Johnny to come back to Brooklyn to snake out the clog on whatever maintenance schedule he recommends -- just to prevent future clogs.   Who knew?

If you think your clog is not a big deal, Johnny is fine. He is courteous and tries his best.
But if you have a major clog and need to do major work, he is not the right person to call. I was charged over $550 to fix my clog and replace some pipes. It hasn't even been one month and my pipes bursted twice. He came once to fix the burst but for the past 10 days, he hasn't picked up my phone calls, hasn't returned any of my calls even though i left him a couple of voicemails and text messages.
I can not use my sink properly because of this.
I will have to spend more money, hire someone else and get this fixed.

Johnny is truly the man and extremely deserving of his very interesting surname. After not-so-accidentally dumping cat litter down the toilet, I basically had hardened cement in my pipes. Being super adamant about resolving this myself, I tried plunging with all my might, using a snake and pouring a bunch of [very dangerous] chemicals down all drains to no avail. Fearing that both the old and new PVC pipes in my very old house may be disintegrating from the standing chemicals, I texted Johnny in a panic at 9am. He got back to me within 20 mins and said he could be at my place within 2 hours - and he was right on time. The plumbing in my old house is as complex as it gets, and Johnny was super persistent and cleared everything out in less than 2 hours.

Other than saving me thousands on potential damage to pipes under the ground, what I appreciated most was that he didn't bullshit me (like most plumbers are known to do) or try to upsell me at all about anything. He also does not banter nor waste any time at all - - just straight persistent, patient work to identify, diagnose and resolve your issue as quick as possible. You could tell right off the bat that this guy's character is tip-top, and to be honest, every dollar he got was truly earned. 5 stars all day.

Cleared a sewer line blockage quickly then went beyond the call of duty to take care of another issue without charging extra. Fast, courteous professional service at a fair price. highly recommended.

If you need a drain unclogged, I'm convinced Johnny is only man in town to do it!.. after calling rotor rooter and then a discount 39.99 place, they were no help, just a waste of time, precious time and money !!.. Johnny is very skilled at what he does and knows how to get the job done, and he works very hard to get it done. He is reliable an on point !... Johnny drain has always been prompt and successfully cleared all my plumbing issues.  I've used his service 3x and always satisfied. He knows what he is doing and very knowledgeable.  I always leave a msg and followup with a text as well.  He has always responded back and scheduled an appointment to meet.  I don't know who Joliene V is that left a bad review, but Johnny stay away from her, she's bad news!

First, the important stuff - Johnny saved me about $1,500 by steam cleaning and video taping my main sewer lateral (4 line from under house to the city sewers), versus other options for the same work, and about $6,000 if I had listened to the guys that wanted me to replace my lateral.  Had ALL the equipment you could ever not even expect in the back of his van.  Serious specialty equipment.  I was very impressed.  I rehab houses professionally in California, but manage a building for my family in Queens.  So, during a fast visit to NYC, Johnny saved the day, and a good amount of money.  Fast, honest, competent, great prices.

The fun stuff.....  Johnny is a CHARACTER!  Talks like he's living in a Quentin Tarantino movie.  If he put on some weight, a bit of makeup, and rehearsed, I bet you would think that John Travolta had switched careers.  I watched him pretty much the whole time, and he kept me amused with stories about other jobs he'd done, and people he'd met.  I guess if you make your living on a sort of emergency basis cleaning the sh*t, and whatever else clogs up people's drains, you know how they live pretty darn well.

So, CALL HIM, and keep him well employed as an excellent specialty plumber!  They are WAY harder to find than movies stars

I had a sewer problem that didn't seem to respond to a friend's mini-roto, so I decided to call up a plumber first thing the following morning. Johnny Drain was the first plumber I contacted, and I'm glad for that. He showed up prepared for what we later found to be an extremely tough blockage. He was professional about the whole process and walked me through the whole process, explaining simply what he was doing. After 2 hours trying to tackle the problem, he had to resort to his high pressure water jet. The whole time though, he was calm and believed that we didn't need to do something as drastic as excavate to replace piping, assuring us that we just needed to give the jet a chance to clear what was admittedly years of neglectful grease collection.

For the amount of work he had to endure to clear our blockage, he charged us a generous fee and included a replacement cap. I definitely recommend this highly-skilled professional. He offers 24hr service and comes prepared for business. Just a note for your reference, while I don't know if he accepts credit card/check, he does prefer to to be paid in cash. I was still provided a receipt.

Called him and had him come over same day. That was about an hour ago to fix a sewage blockage~ very knowledgeable on what he does and explains it very simple for me to understand and even given me a few recommendation how to prevent from happening again in the future. Price wise decent~ cant complain when your basement toilet water is spewing out.

We were fighting with a clogged sewer pipe for about 4 hours - nothing worked. I called Johnny at about 10PM, he came in just before 11PM, within 5 minutes he correctly diagnosed the issue. It took about 2 hours to fix, but I'm glad I called him to do the job. No BS no blah blah blah... He knew exactly what to do and kept doing it until the problem was fixed.  Very professional, highly knowledgeable, all in all great service for a great price.

My bathroom sink wasn't draining anything, and after months of trying out different versions of Dran-O, and my schmuck landlord not responding to my plumbing requests, I called Johnny based on the recommendations on Yelp. We set a time for him to come, and it turned out he had to service an emergency situation at a restaurant in Brooklyn. I tried him again a couple days later, and he actually showed up early to make the repair. He worked quickly, and my bathroom sink has been perfect ever since. The price was fair. I'd recommend printing out the coupon on his website.

The only negative parts of this experience were the fact that he wasn't able to come the first time, but it seemed like that was outside of his control. The day he did come, I wasn't quite ready for him yet, but I was happy to have my plumbing back in ship shape again. He also gave me a tip on how to keep it unclogged going forward.

I believe he does take credit, but because fees are associated with that, I recommend hitting an ATM before he comes so you can pay in cash.

Thank goodness for Johnny Drain.  The tub decided to stop draining this morning, by end of day it was still clogged.  I called him at 7:30 PM, he said he'd be here around 9:30 PM, he arrive around 9 PM.  Johnny wrestled with an antiquated piping system, 1/2 hour later....voila, my tub is clogged no more!!!  

Few minor observation but I still give the guy four stars....

1) Didn't get a receipt from him but I didn't ask either, I was just happy that he was there and fixed the problem.

2) Almost clean, there were some black gunk left behind and he almost got all of them but again I was just happy that my tub was draining.

One major PLUS...when asked what I can do for maintenance purposes, he suggested to dump some Clorox and little bit of water into the tub and sink drain every two weeks to break the grease up.  I'll certainly give it a try.

I had a leaky toilet, and decided to give Johnny Drain a call, based on the positive Yelp reviews. I asked if he was available to come to my house that evening, but instead of coming and charging me an arm and a leg just to show up, he explained the possible issues and solutions over the phone. I ended up ordering a $7 part online, and that did the trick. I thought I would have to spend a couple of hundred bucks hiring a plumber, but I ended up fixing the leaky toilet on my own for $7. Johnny Drain is a solid and honest guy. Need more people like him out there.

Johnny is the man! He's come to two different places we've lived and always has treated us right.  He's fair and he's fun!

    I called Johnny Drain on a Saturday night (tonight, actually) after reading plenty of reviews. He showed up when he said he would, which was awesome. On point, professional, calm, and cool, Johnny got the job done in about 35 minutes. I had a bathroom sink that simply would not go down. I had previously went to Home Depot and bought a piece of crap augur and some ZEP drain fluid, and couldn't get the job done. All in all, well done! He's a very friendly guy and I didn't feel any trepidation I normally feel when allowing service folks into my home. He gave me some tips on how to keep my drains flowing, and even hooked me up with some Johnny Drain pens! Score.

Instead of Eek! I thinks not, I went with Meh. I've experienced better which is two star. Reason is out of fairness since I didn't get to experience the quality of his work, but I'll speak from the customer service stand point.

My 2nd floor bathroom sink had a very stubborn clog that I couldn't clear. My neighbor suggested trying the $49.95 service folks but their Yelp reviews didn't instill any confidence in them. Searched for a local plumber and found Johnny Drain. Seeing the 4 star reviews lead me to give him a try. Checked his website for services and more information and it was pretty repetitive. Click on a specific service and the same information is shared amongst all of them, nothing in detail to that specific service. Oh well, not everybody is great and making websites so I call the number. Phone rings for a bit and then goes to voicemail. I leave a detailed message and a text message also as suggested via his voicemail. 24hrs pass and no response or call back. My better half calls the next day also leaving a detailed voice message and still no call back. 2 days later we buckled down and tackled the clog and finally...finally cleared it.

I would highly recommend Johnny to anyone looking for a very honest and fair plumber.  He was thorough,  knowledgeable and very willing to offer tips to save money. He was responsive and came as scheduled. He successfully cleared my tub drain and also helped replace some old piping that had become paper thin due to age. In addition, he tightened up a bathroom faucet that was leaking. His price was extremely fair and he did not try to take advantage of the situation. It was very easy to trust him. Johnny is very easy going and friendly.  If you have any plumbing issues,  don't hesitate,  call him right away!

You know how drain service guys come over and give you a whole shpiel and then do a half-ass job? Forget them! Johnny Drain is the real deal!
He takes his time to listen to what your problem is and goes through every step to solve it. He's a one man marvel.
Our washing machine was shooting water out during the rinse cycle and Johnny put in a new trap and snaked that sucker clear.
Call him if you have a drain or sewer issue, you will not regret it!

Hands down, this guy is the best.  I've used him twice to deal with nightmare sewer backups in a commercial building, and both times, he cleared them.

These days, it can be pretty hard to find good service for a reasonable price when it comes to trades.  It seems like there are no end of these 49.99 guys who end up costing you over a thousand dollars by time they get done with you *or* the guys who will just straight up quote you like $750 right off the bat before they even arrive to see what the problem is.  That's part of the reason this guy is such a gem.  He shows up when he says he will (how rare that is, in and of itself...) and takes a minute to actually understand the problem at hand.

On top of all this, he's friendly and a good conversationalist too.

Johnny came to the rescue when no one else would! My toilet was clogged and overflowing and after waiting over 3 hours for help from my management company, I called up Johnny (based on reviews on Yelp). He was here within the hour and had the issue resolved in about 45 minutes. He was polite, and efficient. He provided me with a receipt and a business card. Would definitely call him again!

The one drawback is he doesn't take credit cards and prefers cash.

I called Johnny and he came out ASAP. He did a great job and even helped me clean up the mess and with the price!! Hopefully I don't have to call him again but if I do Johnny will be the one I call. Thanks Johnny!

Used Johnny Drain again today. Provided a prompt response, came by in a matter of a few hours, and cleared up the issue - no bs required. Johnny's prices are extremely fair and competitive. My go to guy for sewer and drain cleaning. Five stars.

John arrived and explained what needed to be done. He used an industrial snake in an attempt to clear my sewer line. It could not be done using that method so he refused to charge me. He dutifully explained why he was unable to do so. I did not have debris or roots clogging my line. It could only be a combination of mud, dirt, grease or anything else stuck in there. He explained why a water jet would be my next choice. If the water jet didn't work, I'd be in big trouble. Half an hour later, the line was cleared and I was able to get on to business. I would call john again and recommend him to anyone. Thanks JOHNNY DRAINS!!!

2nd time calling the King of Drains in Queens.  Called 6:10pm, left a message and he called back at 6:30.. by 6:50 he was at my front door.  This time it wasn't baby wipes.. it was grease clogging up my main line and it was backing up into the shower/toilet in the basement....  Johnny snaked the main.. 15 minutes.. tested another 10 minutes.. all clear.. in and out 25 minutes!   If you own a house.. you better save this guys number.    THANK YOU JOHNNY!!   You saved me again!

Belated review, but I had great service from Johnny a couple of months back, with a stubborn clogged drain that defied the garden variety home depot power-drill attachment snakes. Johnny came over with a van loaded with the big guns, and dialed about 20 feet down till he cleared the obstruction. He wasn't the cheapest -- or the most expensive, but he charged what seemed like a fair price, and got the job done. Also, a true NYC character, just like in the old days. Highly recommend.

John certainly deserves the 5 star reviews he has been getting.  One of the showers had a leak that was allowing water to run into the basement each time it was used.  I did not realize this was happening because I do not go into the basement often.  When I did I saw it was a foot underwater with my new water heater sitting in the middle.  It is an old house and does not have a sump pump in the basement but just a drain going into the dirt below the floor which was saturated.  John came within 2 hours of my call, assessed the problem, fixed the cause of the shower leak and told us how to get rid of the water by using a little pump we had for the backyard pool to get the water into the main sewer drain in the basement. Water was gone a couple of hours later.
This could have been a very expensive disaster if someone who was only looking to make a few bucks had come.  I was expecting to hear all sorts of remedies - new pipes, pumping out basement, backed up sewer pipes with camera and snakes needed.  Nope, just an honest fix within an hour of being there.
John is very, very nice.   He was very much appreciated.  He did a fine job at a reasonable price.  I certainly will call him again.

I had a semi plumbing emergency and Johnny Drain came by in a few hours. I originally though the issue was a partial blockage to the city sewer but apparently it was a full blockage.

We thought a simple rooter would do the job but it didn't work. We had to bring in the hydrojet which also didn't solve the problem. After 5 hours of rooting and hydrojetting, Johnny Drain finally got the issue resolved.

He even checked with my neighbors and also took a look in the street sewers to double check that the problem was localized to me (which it was).  

Johnny's very straight forward and works as an honest man. I'm fairly positive any other plumber would have given up after a couple of hours but Johnny Drain was quite persistent. I'll be sure to use him and recommend him going forward. He charged what I believe was a very reasonable rate.

True pro and great guy! Had some useful recommendations on what did and didn't need to be done.  Hopefully won't need to call too often but when I do, I'll call Johnny again.

Called Johnny in the middle of the night, gave me a very fair estimate and drove out to my house in 30 minutes. Job took longer than estimated but did not charge me extra. Even gave me some citric cleaner to allow me to clean up the mess. This is my go to plumber from now on, very well appreciated the service Johnny. You are the man!

Called Johnny at 3:30 on Wednesday, he was here by 5p.  My kitchen drain was clogged, so my dishwasher was not discharging the water.  He snaked the drain, and also replaced a pipe.  Very satisfied!  Thanks, Johnny!

Johnny was very experienced. He came, found out the root cause of our plumbing issues, and solved it with his lineup of equipments. He was also very nice. He explained clearly to me what was happening, and gave me some useful advice. Highly recommended.

This man is amazing. He is honest, polite, and excellent at his craft. The other night, my contractor told me - he could not proceed with remodeling my basement until I had the sewer drain snaked- water had backed up; It was a stinky mess.  We got a number of a plumber from a friend of a friend. This young man came to the house; tried twice to snake the drain, and said it was a failed attempt. I was charged anyway - then told I needed a water jet procedure which would cost $600. A crook!!!!! (Karma will deal with him). Anyhow, I recalled my cousin having a similar issue earlier this year. I got Johnny's info from her. She had such praises for him- and she is extremely critical of people. It was late in the night, but decided to try anyway. I called and explained my situation- He said, there wasn't a job he couldn't do: He came to my home and fixed my problem. No water jet needed!!!!!!!! Don't misunderstand me- it wasn't an easy task! Johnny put his back into it! He worked for his money that night. He saved me a few hundred dollars, my water is flowing properly, my house no longer has a nasty scent, my contractor came 2 days later and was impressed.  Johnny is the way to go- trust me!!!!!!!

Johnny is great. He came to our new house and snaked the house line in the basement, all the way out to the sewer line. He snaked our old slate slop sink's three drains as well. And he replaced the old caps in the basement. And replaced the faucet that connected to our washing machine's hot water line... all for $350...

He also diagnosed correctly that tree roots had gotten into our back line, and worked with plumbers we knew to locate the issue as best as possible (17 ft from where the big toilet pipe enters the ground). He used a camera to go into the pipe (this cost extra), and I could actually see the tree roots that had busted through our pipe.

Johnny is also a nice guy, and he will shoot the breeze about his work and stuff.

We will definitely call Johnny again if we have sewer/drain clearing issues in the future.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND JOHNNY! I've used Johnny for years. Always done a great job and gave it his all. I've had blocked sewer lines, kitchen sinks, bathroom leaks, and shower body problems. Always fair, reasonable, and gets the work done. He knows his stuff! Sometimes though - as others have commented and I'll comment here too - does take a couple of phone calls to reach him, but he doesn't avoid you. He's a good guy who gets busy, understandably. But I've ALWAYS waited for his work, because he is the best. (I used other companies before - EcoSewer/ Ed is Crap, Roto, $49, etc - so I should know - unfortunately.) And as for Johnny, came by yesterday and replaced a hot water pipe within my bathroom. Worked tirelessly to break up the damaged walls, assessed the problem and fixed it. I'm such a big fan of him/his work, that I gave him 4 bottles of Snapple Regular Ice Tea, a favorite drink of his, while he worked. Trust me, if you need a plumber, call Johnny! I've had for last 5-6 years.

Johnny is the man!!!!! Called him this morning at 6am and he was here by 6:45am!!!! Snaked out my blocked up sewer from the street to the house and in the house . Very professional and neat. Johnny had me back in business before 8am. He also changed the caps in my house. He didn't break the bank and I will use him again if there ever is any plumbing issues. I highly recommend using him and save his number.

So on a Sunday the shower and toilet decided to back up with sewage at 730 at night. After my landlord comes trying to fix the problem from 8-11pm he decided to try and get a 24hr plumber. After many phone calls I found Johnny Drain. I called him a little after midnight explained the problem and Johnny gave me a quote over the phone which was great and said he would be here in 35mins and he was! Very professional highly knowledgeable and cleared the problem quickly. He also recommended future solutions to not have the main line clogged again. I will definitely use Johnny again for ALL upcoming maintenance in the future. Im happy to have a found a plumber who doesnt BS you or try to sell you something you dont need. I called Johnny on a Sunday night and left a voicemail.  I received an immediate text back letting me know that he would be available Monday morning between 11-12.  On Monday he arrived at 11:30 - fixed the problem very quickly and was VERY neat.  Johnny was very professional and nice :).  I would highly recommend him!!

Recommended by the highest rated plumber in Brooklyn, Richard Haviland, John (yes, it's really his name--first at least) responded to my plea for help with a frequently flooding cellar in a home we recently purchased right away.

Though the main waste drain had been snaked twice by the inept plumbers associated with our renovation contractor, John was able to remove the grout and plaster dumped into the drain fairly quickly. He showed us the plaster scraps flowing out through the opened sewer drain.

He replaced aged caps on pipes and the incorrect cap the other plumbers installed.

He says he's been doing this for 22 years, and it shows.  The man knows what he is doing.  He gave us a 3-month warranty of his work, which is great, since we had 3 cellar floodings in the less than 2 weeks we've lived in this house. Informally, he says his work should be good going forward as far as the eye can see.

If you've got a clogged drain or drainage problem, I don't think you'll find a better person for the job than John. His prices are reasonable, too.

I was very impressed by Johnny's work. I have had a lot of problems with plumbers in the past, but he is honest, competent and reliable. He did a great job for a fair price and didn't leave a big mess. I recommend him highly.

my tub has been causing me a huge headache with a clogged drainage that no one seemed to be able to fix completely. Upon my friend's suggestion (which was a link to this page on yelp), I decided to give it a try after reading reviews here. (i was still a little skeptical about the internet reviews though)
He came on time as promised, studied my tub, and a few minutes later, my tub was completely declogged with water going down like niagara falls!
I asked him for a receipt and he gave me one with his company head logo on it, and offered three month warranty (i think it depends on the type of service, so ask him about his policy). I give him full five stars because he well deserves them! =)

Harlem - Well it was almost midnight and my basement was completely flooded. I had to turn off water for the entire building. Johnny answered right away, asked a few questions and knew exactly what was wrong. He arrived in about 30 minutes, opened up the sewer drain and found the problem. He was out in an hour. Very reasonable prices considering the ridiculous hour! Highly recommend!

This review is long overdue! As a new home owner with little experience in house maintenance, I had a huge back up. After calling many plumbers with no response, Johnny called back and came over within a few hours. He was so patience in figuring out the issues, came up with a solution and got the job done so fast and for a reasonable price. He is the go-to guy for plumbing problems.

About a month ago, I had a drain problem in my driveway during the frigid cold. Johnny came and was able to unclog a serious mud/dirt clog that got worse because of the cold after trying a few solutions. He charged me a fair price to use his water jet to finally unclog it. I would use him again for any drain problems.

Why always on a Sunday???  It's going to be a pain finding a plumber and if you do they are going to charge a premium.  And when you have an emergency you can't wait or do a lot of research.  Luckily I found Johnny and a lot of reviews on yp.com that were positive.  Since there aren't that many plumbers with good reviews, I took a shot with Johnny and gave him a call.  Very knowledgeable on the phone and provided a quote over the phone.  Asked him to come over and he was here in 45 minutes.  He was professional, knowledgeable, efficient and friendly.  Got my clogged cleared and replaced some damaged/seized caps quickly.  No hard sell on extras like every other sewer person I'ved used.  And no extra charges for Sunday.
They aren't the cheapest but very reasonable.  If you are sick of those $49 guys or those outfits that refer you to a bunch of guys that have a snake in their truck but no knowledge of what they are doing then give this pro a call.  I didn't feel ripped off like I do with those others...I'd rather spend my money where I feel good spending it.

So I'll start by saying, if you need a plumber, call Johnny Drain! My bathtub had been clogged for days and anytime I ran water into the sink,  it would back up into the tub. Based on his reviews inn yelp I called Johnny Drain. I made an  appointment for 7pm. He arrived exactly at 7 took a look at the sink and tub went to his truck to get the needed tools and within 15 minutes of arriving, had the bathtub and sink unclogged and running freely.  Johnny Drain was punctual, personable, efficient, reasonably priced and fixed my bathtub in no time.

We arranged a time to meet and he arrived in the time he said he would. I had a clogged awe line and also a busted water pipe. It took a little time before we found the problem with the leak. It was behind new tile in one of my showers that had to be broken. He felt bad having to break open the wall, but I didn't mine because I had to get it fixed. Instead of breaking open the whole wall he broke a bit here and there to find it. We found it and he saved me money in water damage and also tile work as well.
Then came the big job. The sewer line.   He used the snake and cleared my street side and inside line. Then he used the snake to clear the trap.. But it didn't go all the way through. He thought that was odd because it should have went through. Then he got he auger(handheld snake) and he felt there wasn't something in it still. When we looked in the trap it seemed to have something broken inside, either the trap was broken or something was broken inside the trap. Upon further investigation we saw a cap busted in the trap. He was able to take the broken cap out the trap and clear the line. I had 2 plumbers come to the house and did the same thing, only they never checked the trap. So it worked for a couple of days and the same problem. He did it for half the price and actually fixed the problem.
You can't go wrong with John. He's my going to be my go to guy for plumbing from this day on.

Thanks Yelpers!  Thanks Johnny!  Called for a slow drain on a Saturday, Johnny said he would be here in a half hour (he does not charge extra for Saturdays.)  He showed up in 25 minutes and spent about 10 minutes snaking on the drain. He also gave me plumbing maintenance tips for the whole apartment and taught me a little bit about my pipes. My drain works better than it did when it was first installed! All for a reasonable rate too!

We had a sewer back up in our basement toilet. After calling a well known local plumbing service that charged us and basically did nothing, we called Johnny Drain. Wish we had done that first. He was punctual and professional. He had the job done quickly and easily. I would highly recommend him. I have already given his number to my plumber to refer him to other clients.

Johnny Drain is great!  In a world where finding a good and HONEST plumber is difficult, Johnny is a great find.  Our sewer line was backing up - a problem we encountered a few years ago due to the growth of tree roots.  Roto Rooter fixed this problem for us a few years ago - while their solution worked, it was pricey.  This time around, we called Johnny based on a lot of positive feedback on Yelp.  He responded very quickly (called him at 1pm, he came by the same evening at 7pm to accommodate our work schedule - he would have come earlier if it wasn't for our schedule) and was very professional, courteous, and thorough.  Although we thought we knew what our sewer line problem was, he listened to our thoughts and took his time to diagnose the problem himself as well.  He thoroughly cleaned out our sewer line with the snake / auger tool - going all the way out to the main with a 3 to 4 blade.  He also threw in a new sewer line cap at no charge.  His pricing was straightforward and extremely reasonable.  Johnny is our new go to plumber for sewer line issues.  Highly recommended - very nice, professional, and HONEST!

Our basement kitchen drain was clogged and we called Johnny Drain based on the good reviews here on Yelp.  I rarely see good reviews for plumbing.  Johnny came in about hour as he said he would on the phone.  He was able to unclog in minutes.  Excellent professional service!!!  Gave me tips on how to keep the drain clean.  I highly recommend Johnny!!!  We are definitely going to pass his name to family and friends.

Highly recommend Johnny.  Honest, hardworking.  Called him when our sewer backed up all over our finished basement and told him I really needed him to come same day as we could not use any water in the house until this got resolved.  He promised he would get to me a little later in the day but he would come same day.  He kept his word.  He was kind and honest .  The sewer backed up 3x in the past 6 weeks.  The first time was on a Sunday ..  I called Roto Rooter and they told me a plumber would call me back ... 2 hours later called them again .. and again they told me a plumber would call me back.  6 hours later and very desperate our regular plumber did us a huge favor and snaked the sewer.  Unfortunately it happened again 2 weeks later and same drill.  One month later ... it happened again I knew we needed someone that specialized in sewers and could get in there with a camera.  I started researching sewer repairs and read great things about Johnny Drain on yelp and knew he was the right guy.   Johnny had his suspicions on what was the problem and he was right.  He came in with his machinery and took care of it.  No camera necessary even though he had one if needed.  He cleaned everything up and even helped me with my clean up.  Definitely happy I called him .. I don't think I could survive cleaning another sewer back up as it is beyond disgusting!!!
