HISTORY
Established in 1980.
The scope of our work is complete residential and light commercial plumbing, from the street water mains and city sewer to the vents on the roof, as well as hot water heating systems from 50,000 up to 1,000,000 BTUs. We have become specialists in High efficiency boilers for heating, with an in floor radiant application. We pride ourselves on being experienced problem solvers for difficult plumbing situations, all while keeping you cozy with a 95 percent efficient heating system.

Gene The Plumber started working for home owners in Hoboken in the 1980's, when all the housing stock was old. He learned the tricks of adapting new to old, and very old, plumbing. Now most of the buildings have been renovated or built new, so the connections are simpler. Our goal however, remains the same today:installing and maintaining the systems that keep you comfortable and sanitary, with reliable service and one-to-one customer relationships.

I have used Gene D Plumber for various issues including a leaky sink, loose toilet, and maintenance on my tankless water heater. Most times it is Bo that has come to our home, and both him and Gene are professional, friendly, thorough, and clean up very well after their work is done.
Most recently I noticed there was a leak under my bathroom sink and for outside reasons had a very short timeline to get it fixed. Bo was able to come that afternoon and not only fix the leak but remove an obstruction that was causing the sink to drain slower (that we didn't even know was there)
They provide reliable, quick service and are reasonably priced too! I'd recommend them to anyone in the area in need of a plumber.
If I could give this company 100 stars I would! This is the ONLY plumber we will use from now on. We had an issue with our plumbing on the day before Thanksgiving. We were so stressed out because we figured we would never be able to get someone to come and fix it. From the BEST customer service person EVER (Nikki) , to the fact that they delivered and came through when no one else would even call back, this company is TOP NOTCH. Nikki stayed in contact with me, tried everything she could to get to me, and did it all with KINDNESS and a smile. She was AMAZING. Gene is LUCKY to have her. A rare person in this world who is all about service and the customer on the day before Thanksgiving when most people don't even want to work. Great job Gene and NIKKI!!! You're the BEST. We are thankful for companies like yours this Thanksgiving!

Gene D Plumber has fixed a broken toilet, leaking shower, and leaking sink for me over the past year. Very easy to deal with and straight-forward, they were able to come both times on short notice. Bo called up Kohler to get the parts I needed under warranty (after they were not helpful when my wife called). Highly recommend !
Gene-D Plumber deserves the great reputation he has for his great service and honesty. He sent a top expert plumber who replaced the very old, worn out parts very quickly. He already had the right parts with him to fix the toilet because his friendly and helpful administrator Nikki had asked me what kind of toilet it was. I highly recommend Gene for any plumbing issues.
I called and described a simple repair asking for an estimate. However the receptionist was extremely rude. She flat out said they don't give estimates on the phone and will charge $150 to make a service call. In other words, they want $150 just to come over and then will give an estimate.
Extremely unprofessional. Every other plumber gave me an estimate. I had a very simple issue and not a multi-thousand repair job. No one wants to pay $150 just to get an estimate for a simple repair.
They will be on my do not call list
Had a showerhead that's been dripping water for over a year. Finally decided to get a professional to come and take a look. Called Gene-D based on yelp reviews and the service was as expected.
Veronika, who schedules appointments, is extremely pleasant, courteous, and professional. She was able to schedule a visit for 8:30am for the following week.
Francisco came to look at the situation. He worked systematically to diagnose the problem (a leaky valve) rather than jumping to conclusions. He took about 30 minutes to go and buy a replacement valve and replaced it expertly. He took care to make sure that the water temperature was to my liking, even adjusting the setting on the water boiler after maxing the setting on the valve.
When I got the invoice, it was exactly as expected. A fixed fee for leaky valve plus cost of part (with 0 mark-up!).
I'll definitely be using Gene-D for all my future plumbing needs. I highly recommend that you do too.

The responding time is long. I booked 10am-11am, and then came 11am. It is kind of confusing when they are coming. But they done the job pretty fast and well by unclogging my shower drain.
Did not show up for the service call. Promising reviews and recommendations but disappointed because of all of the logistics it takes to be ready for a tradesperson to show up.

We had two appointments with them, both of which they were a no-show for. They didn't even bother to call with a notice. I have no idea where all these positive reviews come from. I suggest you find someone else who will at least actually show up or have the decency to apologize for wasting your time.

Bo came yesterday to fix a leak under my kitchen sink. He was very thorough in determining where the leak was coming from and even found a small secondary leak coming from the faucet. He took it upon himself to contact Koehler on my behalf and has ordered a whole new replacement faucet which is covered under their warranty saving me lot of hassle. He also tied up the faucet hose so it doesn't get in the way of my new glide out shelves!
Only negative is that I had to wait more than a week for the apt but I am happy I waited!
Had Bo come by earlier to fix my shower diverter because I had been to numerous hardware stores around the area that said they didn't have the kind of diverter I needed--pipe was too big and soldered on. Bo had the right sized diverter, which is great, but when it was time to pay he was very insistent on a check. The Yelp page advertises that Gene-D Plumber takes card, which something I prefer for added protection (and air miles). I again said I preferred card, but Bo was instant enough and I just wanted to get back to my day. Please let customers choose how they want to pay. If it's legal tender, it should be good enough for you, otherwise it would've been 5-stars.
I love love love these guys. This is my third time using them. They had replaced my water heater, repaired a leaking drain, and repaired shower. Every single time they were always professional, communicated to me what needed to be done, and billed me fairly. I highly recommend these guys. It is so hard to find reliable plumbers, esp ones that charge fairly. These guys are fantastic.

Francisco came, as promised, to review a leak in our house 3rd floor ceiling. Diagnosed the issues. Didn't try to do extra work. Veronica, in the office, was very professional. I would highly recommend.
I found Gene-D on Yelp based on overwhelming reviews from previous customers. The entire process, from my reaching out via Yelp, Veronica's responses, and Bo and Gene's great work all went very well. I am aware that I am a lay person in this area so my comment might not be right, the pricing of the replaced water heater was somewhat out of the range of a residential situation. However, I appreciated that Bo and Gene took a really close look of the water heater and worked meticulously to reach the result I wanted. Bo also took this opportunity to clean up some of wiring and tubes connected to my kitchen faucet and the water heater and this is a much more solid work than last replacement. Thank you very much!

Gene helped me out when I was in need of emergency plumbing help. Not only was he able to take of the problem but walked me through the different options so that I could make an informed decision. Response time was fast and the service was very reasonably priced. I know who I'll be calling from here on out.

Expensive, but fabulous, efficient, professional service, which is exactly what I wanted. I have put this job off for ages as I am a total perfectionist and do not want to spend serious money on a job recklessly done ! I cannot stand oafish men in my space. Chris came this morning and did a fantastic job! We needed help with a clogged sink and a missing stopper. He was very professional and friendly. Also gave us helpful tips for self maintenance in the future.
Don't waste your time. Even after multiple tries, likely wont respond at all.
I can only rate the estimate process. Upon calling the receptionist informed my husband that they don't come out to do estimates. Then later in the conversation she said they will come to do estimates but an estimate costs $75. We are gathering estimates for a $5k+ job and hadn't encountered this with any other area plumbers so if you are in need of an estimate, be advised that they charge for it.
They did a great job installing a new pedestal sink. Great communication and did the job in less time than expected. Only negative was that they don't accept credit card but I guess cash is king!
I have used Gene-D Plumber 2 times in the past month. Veronica was very friendly on the phone and was able to take care of the COI requirements from the building very quickly. Jacob was the one did the job both times. I couldn't be more pleased with Jacob's works. He has always arrived on time, explained everything very thoroughly, and did the fix perfectly and quickly. Jacob also always checked his work multiple times after the fix to insure that it's 100% fixed. Thump up! After all, their price is also very reasonable. So I will highly recommend Gene-D for any plumber works you will need. they are definitely my first choice when I need plumber service again in the future.
Clients of mine are always in need of a good plumber and Gene-D has been great so far. They are very responsive and get you scheduled right away. Their pricing is also great!
We had a leak going on in our building and it was dripping through the sheet rock. I had gone through several plumbers that wouldn't get back to me when they said they would, didn't have anyone available, & had pretty steep prices just to come out. Once I got the number to Gene D Plumber, Veronica was able to help! She called back when she said she would, their price to come out was reasonable & she ended up getting Jacob out that day! Jacob even came a bit early- I really liked that! Jacob was great & did a wonderful job & luckily, because all three tenants were home, there were no holes made in the Sheetrock. He was very adamant about not cutting holes & looking for other ways to find the problem & I'm very glad no holes were cut! I will be using this company in the future.

Amazing service from Bo at Gene D plumber!! As a long distance homeowner, I'm always a little anxious about working with a repair person but Bo was reliable, honest, and straightforward. He made sure to keep in involved each step of the way and whenever possible, tried to give me the best deal possible. He made multiple trips to make sure that me and my tenant were happy. He literally texted me pictures of the work done at every visit and went the extra mile each time. Highly recommended!!

There was a little slip up with my original appointment but Veronica contacted me as soon as she could and I was able to get straightened out. Bo came by and assessed my situation was very informative and professional he even politely took off his shoes (big plus in my book). i have an issue with freezing pipes and he gave me some options on the next steps to take. I'll definitely be contacting Gene D in the future to have them come back and hopefully take care of the problem for good.
My hot water heater burst and Gene was able to come out that same morning and assess the situation, give me an estimate on the spot, and complete the replacement the same day at a price I thought was more than fair. I would definitely recommend him to others, especially those looking for a plumber local to Hoboken who can provide service promptly. He even took the time to fill out most of the paperwork for the warranty and explain what I needed to mail in.

Called them on Friday and ask if someone could come before 1pm. I have 2 issues: shower pressure and shower head/body exchange.
Veronica squeezed me in the schedule and Bo was great! He fixed the problem in about hour and also told me what parts I would need to further correct my issue.
I could not be happier with service and repair.
Would recommend them and use again!

Great service- great people- family run & local- super professional- honest - hardworking... the list goes on!
Had a main drain clogged. Veronica answered right away and let me know she would get a man over right away, 15 minutes later and he was at the door. Efficient, worked fast and smart. Will use company again and I recommend 100%.
I didn't think that a plumber with such a level of service existed anymore. Everyone is so nice, professional and courteous on top of fair pricing...The only thing is... they are so busy, you need to be a little persistant to secure an appointment... But it's worth it.

Excellent response time. Our emergency was so gross that I didn't even get a quote. What we did get was a Plumber within the hour, and the issue resolved that day. The bill was reasonable. And did I say we got a Plumber that day?!?!...I know... timing was perfect that day. Thank you, Veronika and Ivar.
