I am a building owner and my family and I have been using demar for so many years.
I never write reviews but I am so happy with their services that I decide to write a review.
Great plumbers and the manager Franklin has a very good communication level. Franklin is very knowledgable and experience. Thanks guys for saving me from flood and freezing during winter.

Been waiting over a year for someone at Demar to get back to me for a broken radiator.   All of a sudden, I get a final demand for payment for them coming to take a look at my broken radiator, which, I already knew was broken.   Ridiculous.   No follow-up, no service.  And over-priced.

We are, sadly, forced to use this company due to our building's relationship with them.  They fall short in almost every regard including punctuality, workmanship, on the phone courtesy, professionalism, and integrity.  You may as well ignore the window of service they provide, since they clearly ignore it themselves. Moreover, they are significantly overpriced as compared with other providers in the area.  This is NOT a reputable provider.  Furthermore...they proceeded to significiantly overbill for hours not worked, turning a two hour project into a six hour bill.

AVOID AT ALL COST!  You'll save money anyway.

This morning 12/24/2020 several Demar workman showed up; one was not wearing a mask and they were not keeping social distancing. this afternoon another one was not wearing a mask. These were just chance sightings. These are violations of the executive order regarding renewed construction activities. There seemed to be no one controlling or responsible for this here and no one answered their phone or responded to a left message about this. Very upsetting.

total rip off - plumber didn't fix anything and charged 300 after a shrug and a IDK - check with the building.

Avoid at all costs.

When my radiator started leaking, Demar charged me $850 for a new steam vent and radiator valve. The plumber, who was 1.5 hrs late, made me pay on the spot with no explanation for the exorbitant charge. Demar has since ignored repeated requests for an itemized invoice from me and from my building manager.

Honestly the worst company. Guys are always nice, that's it. It's too bad because they cost a fortune and fix nothing. I've had them continually service my boss's building because they know the building and every time, it's a shit show. SO much money spent and nothing works.
Awful. DONT USE THEM.

Wow! I can't say enough good things! Today the nicest sweet guys showed up to help us with our ceiling leaking. Vojtk was so patient and honestly such a pleasure to work with. Even with all the obstacles that came with working in the apartment And dealing with the neighbors and access to other floors! I would recommend these plumbers to all my family and friends! The apartment air conditioning had been on the blink and after many stinking hot days and nights, these guys came for an urgent call out and fixed the problem in an hour.
I can't speak to their billing as the apartment owner is paying the bill (urgent call outs are about $250ph), but the two guys who came were fabulous. They were professional, knew their stuff and explained everything. Would definitely use them again if we had another problem.

Terrible.  They came 4 times to install a water filter. And then ultimately said they can't do it with a reverse osmosis filter and gave up. I ended up needing to buy a regular filter.

When faced with a Con Edison gas shutdown, which can take several months to reverse, Demar Plumbing and specifically Nicki Fagan  were immediately responsive, coordinating paperwork and inspections between the DOB and Con Edison, advocating for the property and making the necessary phone calls and pushing to get the gas service restored.

Due to their constant perseverance service was restored within 4 months, prior to the heating season and with constant communication every step of the way so we always knew what was going on and what the process was.

Demar and Nicki were wonderful.

These guys are a rip-off!  They were recommended by my building and came to look at one of my A/C units and proposed nearly $2,000 in repairs.  I got a second opinion that came in at something much more reasonable and went with them.  They then sent me a bill for nearly $400 just for taking a look.  Avoid them at all costs.

What awful service. Like another reviewer, my building recommends these guys as well, which is just a huge mistake.

They came to our apt yesterday, claimed to have fixed a simple issue with our bathroom sinks not draining quickly (I'm sure all they had to do was snake the drain, but whatever) and to my surprise one of the sinks was never fixed. So, I called them this morning to let them know, naturally assuming that they would not charge us since they never fixed the problem. Wrong, the woman said if they come back, it's a one hour minimum and she cannot override charging us to come back. I had to clarify, this was on them: I already paid them to fix something and they never did. She heard me clear, and said there was nothing she could do.

Never again. NOT RECOMMENDED, these guys should go out of business immediately.

Avoid Demar Plumbing! They are very unprofessional and rude.  Someone supposed to come to make an estimate of the work.  Just the visit was $200.  We schedule an appointment from noon to 4 and they never showed up or called to cancel the appointment.

My building recommends Demar. Our toilet on our first floor broke. My wife is disabled, so getting to the second floor was difficult. Demar said their first appointment was in 5 days. I pointed out that this would be a big problem, but they said they could not help.

With no other choices, we waited. The day of service arrived. Delmar didn't show. Each time I called, they said the plumber would soon be there.  We waited for many hours. No one ever called back.

After 5:00 no one answered. I called the emergency number, but no one answered. The guy who was supposed to answer was playing in the basement with his kids where there was no cell service. We waited till midnight but no one ever came.

Our building has now banned Demar. Our toilet is still broken.

I can not speak about Demar's cost or abilities, because after one week, no one ever came, and no one ever called.

The biggest problem with Demar plumbing is that they are Inconsistent and always a Hit or Miss.  They will do one thing correct then mess something up. The plumber even lied about work they did. They also have a very lazy plumber who showed up with no tools to not fix a problem. They take no responsibility for sloppy work and what is worse is that the company will find a way to defend the less than average work.  They are either combative or nonchalant for plumbers. If you get good service once you can guarantee the next time is going to be awful. I would not recommend their services.

Booooooooooooo.

Firstly, they have a minimum charge of $250 for new customers which is utter bollocks.

Second, they treat new customers like potential criminals, demanding payment up front.

Most importantly, they gave me three different quoted times when they'd arrive to fix my problem...AND NEVER SHOWED UP FOR ANY OF THEM.

And then had the unmitigated gall to be irritated with me when I called to cancel because I FINALLY was able to con the building manager into doing the job instead (which he's not authorized to do, so shhh!)

BOO, BOO, A THOUSAND TIMES BOO.

I'm a Condo Board President, so my review is based on personal experience over a period of years using Demar.

Pros: Their plumbers are polite, professional and do good work.

Cons: Demar bills are very expensive, for several reasons.

First their hourly rate is $180. Second, a 2 pm call will have them show up after 5 pm so they can charge overtime. And worst of all, they often over-charge by padding the hours on their bills. A 1 1/2 hr job somehow gets billed as 3 hours. They even tack on $2 for gas. My property manager has had to ask for bill adjustments half the time as a consequence.

We are now looking for a replacement plumber for our building because it has gotten out of hand.

Conclusion: they do work, but they are untrustworthy with their billing. If you use them, just make sure you get a written proposal first. Because otherwise they will take you to the cleaners.

After getting our kitchen partway remodeled, we had problems hooking up the new faucet due to non-matching pipes and hoses.
I called Demar Plumbing Corp and they were at my house within a matter of hours. He was able to quickly fix the problem and finished the hook up within an hour, for much less than the others I called who couldn't make it out for days.
After he left, we noticed a small drip in the cold water line. I called and got voice mail, left a message then texted him. He called back immediately and was out a short time later to fix the problem. I then later received a follow up call in response to my earlier voice mail, just to ensure that I had been able to reach them and got my problem solved.
Great customer service!!

It's completely unbelievable that I found Plumbers and HVAC for the most reasonable rate after shopping the competition AFTER going through the ringer AFTER causing so much discomfort for the building tenants Demar came in and tackled a 3 year recurring issue in one hour! I was at such a loss for words that I even waited a year to post this review! Thanks guys especially Fabian and Alberto! A++

AVOID DEMAR!!! Unless you enjoy being ripped off--but I suspect you don't.

They used to do maintenance on our building. Charges are always inflated. The final straw was their poor maintenance of our building's central air system, and failure to properly service it. Then it broke down. In the summer. When it's hot.

They graciously quoted $50,000 to repair it. We got another company to do the SAME work (with prompt, quality service--they even itemized the parts for us and took before-and-after pictures of the rusted-out tower) for $20,000. A difference of $30k is HUGE for a small building!!!!!  (And it's a near-certainty that Demar would've jacked up the cost further mid-job.)

Do yourself and your building a favor--do not get ripped off by this company!  There are honest plumbing services out there....

My building uses Demar, so foolishly we did.
The plumbers are nice. It ends there. Completely. Our billing is ALWAYS padded.I wouldn't recommend them to an enemy, though I might recommend them to my sister-in-law.
Sure, write down the time. Ask the plumber his rate. It does N-O-T matter. The bill comes and it's WAY OVER and there's a tidy $2 charge for gas. Oh, we won't notice the rest of it.
So we call. So they adjust it. So what. We will NEVER, ever, never call them again. Ever.  Right now I am lobbying my bulding to stop using them.
     Ever.
I am still angry over how we wasted time calling them to fix the billing. So I look in the mirror and say, Why, fool, did you use them 5-6 times. Won't have to do that again. EVER.
Come ot think of it, I wouldn't even wish Demar on my sistern-in-law.

This company is THE WORST. I would give Demar Plumbing zero stars if I could. It was below freezing this week, and my heater decided to stop working. Demar was the only plumbers I could get out to my apartment that day, and now i know why. Nobody wants to use these plumbers, because they are terrible. They came on Monday and told us we needed a new part. The repair guy said he would get back to us to let us know when it would come in. We never heard from them. We called them over 24 hrs later. They told us they would get back to us about when the part was coming in by the end of Tuesday. We never heard back. Wednesday morning, the snotty receptionist told us the part was no longer available and we needed a brand new heater. Obviously, I was devastated. She said they would submit a proposal. We didn't hear from them the rest of the day Wednesday. I called at the end of the day and was told we may receive a proposal on Thursday. Now, it's been FOUR DAYS without a heater. I finally called another plumber who came over this morning and fixed the heater. The heater is working perfectly now. I did not need a new part, and I do not need a new heater. Not only is Demar's customer service terrible, they lie about what is needed. A new heater would've cost me $2000. I highly recommend Belsito Plumbers instead. They were kind, affordable, and amazing.

If I could, I would give them zero stars.  They don't want small jobs!  Even though I had made an appointment and taken the day off, they failed to show.  I kept calling and could not get anyone to tell me what was going on.  Finally, they told me that they had another job and weren't showing up!
I tried to reschedule the appointment, but I was told they don't do small jobs anymore so why did they book the appointment in the first place!  DO NOT USE THEM EVER!

It took them 4 days to fix the heat in my bldg. Plumbers are expensive. Generally they're a pain in the ass. These guys are nice; professional; and--provided we're not 20 deep into a blizzard--they show up on time. Franklin, Francisco, and Ted know what they're doing; and know how to communicate. They could use a couple more dedicated office coordinators/telephone operators, though.

I love Demar. I own a coop in the city and use them for all my plumbing needs as they are the building's plumbers. Always very responsive, professional and the pricing is reasonable. The stuff working there is pleasant to deal with and always very helpful. Keep it up Demar!

I rent out my apartment in a coop building and on Memorial Day received a call from my tenant that her TOILET was not working. They came the next day to check it
and as it was necessary to shut all the water in the building off for 3 hrs they need to
have permission from Management and did it as promised the next day.

Franklin very clearly explained it to me and had his office call to confirm that they
would be there.   I am more than pleased with DEMAR.   (I have used them before
as well)

These guys are real pros. They were initially recommended to my coop by a top architectural engineering firm for some serious plumbing work (replace a major gas line in our building, fix some corroded pipes, etc). They delivered the most compelling proposal, they showed up when they said they would, and everything seems to be working flawlessly. Of course I hope we have no more use for them, because plumbing problems often come with big headaches, but I have added Demar to my speed dial just in case.

I'm forced to use Demar by my Condo Board when there's any building wide-work. After 3 altercations, it's clear that Demar is perfect example of incompetence and shysterism. Every time they come, the smallest diagnosis or job that would take any other decent plumber half an hour, results in almost 2 billable hours for Demar plus some sort of Demolition. They always unncesscearily break a wall or tile or a fixture, in the hopes of getting extra work. It's a text book slimy vendor practice. Why my building uses them... I can't help but suspect that someone on the Management office is getting kick backs. Very slimy indeed. Avoid them and anyone who recommends them at all costs.

The plumbers are skilled and courteous but always CHECK YOUR BILL - they have charged me for parts when no parts were involved in the job.  They bill by the hour and have charged me for multiple hours when the job was less than 30 minutes.  They even add on a few dollars for a gas surcharge.

Nice plumbers, good plumbers, rip off billing.  They gave me a window of 12-5, showed up at 5:30.  They were here for 45 min.  Tried to charge me for 1.5 hours of overtime.  They changed my radiator valve in 10 minutes. Waited 25 min. for the heat to go back on, then waited 10 min. to see if it dripped or not.  Then left.  Got a bill for $620!!!  When I complained they reduced it to $420.  Still too high.  They said their hourly rate is $250.  The part is only $30.  How do they get $620 or $420 from that I don't know.  They won't break down the bill, just a huge total...  Find another plumber unless you have unlimited funds to be taken from you.

I had just called them to explain what my situation was. The person who answered the phone quickly interrupted me to ask if they had worked for me before. When I said no, and that I had just moved into the unit he quoted me $300.

I asked if he may give me the chance to finish explaining what the job would require - replacing a small plastic screw - he HUNG UP ON ME. I then called back thinking maybe my reception had something to do with it. I heard him talking on the other line and immediately was redirected to the answering machine.

They seem to be the default option for plumbing in my building. So, I have had to use them a couple of times. That, and my super is pretty useless when it comes to plumbing.

Pros:
1. They get the work done. The plumbers are pretty professional and show up more or less on time.
2. 24-hr emergency line - They are available round-the-clock, good for weekend clogged-toilet emergencies (especially if you have kids with a penchant for flushing things down the toilet!).

Cons:
1. Scheduling seems to be a pain. They give you an 8am-4pm timeframe which will only be shortened the morning of the job. So, it is very hard to plan your time effectively while waiting for them.
2. The daytime and evening phone lines are completely separate and seem to have no coordination between the two. I recently called up the regular line at 3pm and was told someone would be there between 4 and 6pm. When I called at 5:30, the operator claimed he had no idea about my request and had to put in a new job. The plumbers finally made it at 7:30pm!
3. Billing - Like one of the previous reviewers mentioned, get an estimate when possible, and make sure you keep track of the time. They have a tendency to pad hours. Also, I had a bad experience recently when the plumber who initially came during the day (at the regular rate) did not do a thorough job, and I was forced to call Demar back that same evening to fix the issue at the overtime rate. They definitely try to scam you into paying overtime, so be careful.
4. This might be specific to the overtime guys. The guys who came and fixed my toilet would not seal it back to the floor. I have had to call Demar back to schedule a separate job to do that. Very annoying!

DON'T HIRE DEMAR! They are happy to come and take your deposit money, but then it's like pulling teeth to get them to do the job. Sometimes the plumber doesn't show up until the late afternoon because even though he's in the middle of your job, his boss (Alex, the owner of Demar) has told him to go to a different job. The plumber is good, but how good can a plumber be if he's not there? I have been waiting for over six months for them to finish two jobs for me, and they are nearly done with one (sprinkler work--but they left one sprinkler head uncapped!) and about 60% done with the other in over half a year! The plumber could have been done in ten working days if his boss had allowed him to come! This is their last week. If they don't finish this week (and we have yet to see the plumber at all this week, they are fired and we are hiring a different company. SAVE YOURSELF THE GRIEF--USE A DIFFERENT COMPANY!
