Brooklyn's Best AC

Been using them for my parents house for over 10 years.  They come and install the windows units every summer season. At the end of summer I usually call them to have them remove it so I can close the window.  Yet this time I was cheap and didn't call them to remove the unit.

During the recent snow storm we got major drafts coming in that made it uncomfortably cold. So I called Joe and he had his guys out here in a jiffy to remove the unit.

I think I'm finally gonna go w one of his custom installs for my parents house  so I don't have to have them back out to remove it.

I'm confused. They came and fixed my AC unit. Now I need help with my other one for the same reason and they said they would come. They didn't. I wrote a message and they responded they don't do this service. So I'm giving a review of 1 star since they no longer service AC units.

In response to you, Joe, I called prior to doing a Yelp request. I also contacted the guy who helped me last year as his number was in my phone. I'm a real person with a real home. Just being honest about my experience. If you had no one to perform the service, that's different you not doing the service. Be well.

One of the most reliable businesses I have dealt with in NYC.  Prior to my purchase, every email I sent was answered promptly and every question was answered thoroughly.  I ordered 2 new air conditioners. The technicians were prompt and extremely knowledgeable.  I highly recommend BBCOND to anyone in need of A/C units. Great company!

We  would not recommend them based on our poor experience working with them on purchase and installation of 3 window A/Cs that required 3 separate visits from them, hours of me waiting around and going back and forth with the salesperson (Joe). We had 3 main issues in context of their high end pricing for A/Cs and high installation costs.

- the installation crew was not good, were in a hurry and tried to leave the job half done. For example, one of the new A/Cs was dented but they still wanted to install it.  Fortunately I noticed and asked them of fix it. Similarly they tried to install a dirty pexiglass on the window - again I had to point that out to them and ask them to replace.
- Bad quality control- they brought a lemon A/C with them and we had to schedule another installation date to replace it.  
- Salesperson who did not provide full details/options- Apparently, installation that allows one to open the window costs extra. We were never told that even though we sent them a picture of our current installation where one can open the windows. We only noticed the problem later when we tried to clean the windows. Now they are asking for more money to fix it even though we have spent few thousand dollars with them already.

We would take off a star for each of those 3 issues, so landing at 2 stars.

We would not recommend using them.

2/5 - Unfortunately I'm having to drop my original star rating. I just had another HVAC guy in here - trying to fix the noise problems that Brooklyn's Best could not - who noticed that one of my filters was not changed. We paid Brooklyn's Best $1725 to change all of our filters, not just the ones that were easiest to access or most visible. On top of the issue with the workers not even noticing the vents were closed while they were performing maintenance on them, this job really much to be desired.

**Updating this review again** 2/7 - Well, dropping a star yet again, because now this company is denying here in the public comments section of Yelp that they ever even worked with me. Rather than just admit the possibility that the guys they sent into my home (who apparently no longer even work for them, as evidenced in the attached screenshot) did a substandard job and maybe just offer to come fix the filter they didn't change, they're digging in their heels and threatening me with bad karma. Ridiculous and highly unprofessional. Screenshots attached showing a convo with them dating back to November about problems with the job, and more recently about the filters. At no point did they ask me to provide proof of service, as they've stated here publicly in the comments, but instead have just been arguing privately with me about why I don't have a right to complain about this subpar job, making excuses for it and blowing up my messages to try to bully me into increasing the star rating.**

**Updating yet again** WARNING: This company is now emailing me threatening to SUE ME. They are trying to gaslight me, but they most certainly are the people who arranged this work. I contacted them, they sent people out, then afterwards we got an invoice from a different company (Y'Air). When my husband asked about this by phone, we were given some excuse about the pandemic, insurance and paperwork. You can see Yair referenced in one of the screen shots from Brooklyn's Best. All of this work was arranged directly through Brooklyn's Best. I shrugged off the different company name at the time even though it seemed weird - but again, all of this was arranged through Brooklyn's Best. Now they are denying any involvement in the job and threatening me for defamation. This is absolutely insane and not ok behavior, and is bordering on actually being threatening and scary because I know they have my address and have been in my home. Brooklyn's Best, you cannot just bully people into five star reviews or silence. If you want good reviews, stop attacking and threatening your customers and just do a good job on the work you were hired to do!**

We just had Brooklyn's best AC, back out for pre-summer maintenance, they cleaned and tuned-up our cooling system

So I thought they did a good job when they did the install. Until it came to take it out. Things just didn't go so easily. Had issues with everything. Took 4 hours.

I can't say enough good things about Brooklyn's Best AC. I called them on a Wednesday because all our AC units had been flashing error codes and not turning on during a heat wave. They came out on Thursday to take a look at the problem ; they provide a 4 hour window, but arrived within the first 30 minutes - first good sign. Within 10 minutes the technician had the problem diagnosed and the parts ordered.

He said 3-4 day business day turnaround for the parts, but on Monday (1 business day after the first visit) I get a text saying there's a storm tomorrow, I want to get all the work done today so I'm going to go pick up the parts. One technician arrived soon after and got started, followed by another tech. with the remaining parts. Within an hour the ACs were blasting cold air as if nothing had happened.

Huge thanks for going out of your way to get the repair done early and with high quality. Also thank you for observing all COVID-19 prevention guidelines : masks, gloves, etc. I hope I don't need to get other major HVAC repaired any time soon, but if I do, I will be picking Brooklyn's Best.

He is very friendly and funny but consummately professional.  Once we decided on a model and installation date, Joe and his team showed up on time and fully prepared.  I've had air conditioners installed in the past but Joe's work was far superior. He made sure everything fitted properly and sealed tightly.  The result is perfection.  

So, please spare yourself the agony of trying to find the right vendor and choose Brooklyn's Best.  They take the pain out of the process.

I had a great experience with them earlier this summer when it was 100 degrees and my AC broke! I reached out to them on Sunday night and they came the very next day, bringing a new AC with them (carrying it up to my 4th floor walk up), quickly installing the AC, and carrying out my old one. They also put in foam around the AC so I could leave it in in the wintertime. I felt totally taken care of, and they were in and out in 20 minutes. I would definitely use them again!

Exceptional service- we had them replace 2 PTAC units back in 2017 and have relied on them to help service them and other PTACs- they are fair, prompt to respond, and knowledgeable about the units and how they work.  I trust them entirely and highly recommend them next time anyone needs assistance.

BBAC was super responsive to my email requesting a quote.  I reached out to 4 other AC installers in the area for quotes : 2 told me they were booked out for weeks and weren't taking any more appointments; and 1 was cheaper but didn't appear as thorough or professional as BBAC.

Joe was super patient.  The first time he arrived to do the job.  His first question (looking at my unopened AC box) was 'did you try it.'   It was then I learnt that you should never buy an AC online and have it delivered by a shipping service to your house.  Joe opened the box and plugged in the brand new AC - only for us to hear clicking and banging.  Turns out that was the compressor that got damaged in transit.  I would have never known that was an issue - and I later read a bunch of reviews online and found several people had that same issue.  Then there was the 5 year old AC in my bedroom that I didn't realize was wasting my energy and barely cooling my room down - I knew it sort of wasn't working.  But Joe took one look at it with me - and was able to identify my compressor issue.  Quite frankly - I didn't know what a compressor was until he showed up.  

BBAC does sell ACs for installation - and the pricing was comparable to retail.  They just didn't have the model I wanted. It would have been less hassle for me to buy direct from them as they bring the AC and install it.  

A few weeks later after getting two new ACs- I messaged BBAC and they came a few days later to do the installation.  Joe came again and brought an assistant.  To remove and install two window ACs they were in my apt for just under an hour.  The team was highly efficient and super professional.  They came within the agreed upon window, brought blankets to protect my floors and a table saw to cut the plexiglass.  The two men worked in seamless coordination and were a pleasure to have in my home.  After completing the job - they cleaned up carefully and removed everything they brought in.  

I've had friends over and have looked at the installation and have commented how neat it is.  There is caulking a sealant around the window.  I know for sure that this winter cold  air will not be coming into my apt.  I'm super happy I decided to pay professionals to come and install my AC.  I can totally tell the difference between the job compared to my super or a guy friend installing for me.

Joe and his team were prompt, polite, friendly, flexible with my challenging schedule for installing a new window AC, and informative and patient in helping me decide which size to get and which window to put it in. I'm happy with the Friedrich unit I bought from them so far, it worked well in the humidity of the last week. Definitely would hire these guys again, though hopefully I won't need to for a while. These guys really go the extra mile. I've used them for a few jobs in the past, but this last job was different. My AC went out right before a heatwave, and they came quickly and found the issue (or so we thought). After this first repair, the AC went out again. They came back again, quickly and at no extra charge to see what went wrong. Long story short, it ended up taking a few more visits, BUT these guys really went above and beyond to keep us cool and fix the issue once and for all. They were patient with me and even offered to have another AC company come out to reassess the problem when it became really tricky. In the end, they fixed our AC and were very reasonable in their pricing.

They are honest and reliable and if they don't know whats wrong they will tell so and offer a different solution. Don't bother looking for anyone else, you won't find anyone better.

This company''s Yelp page promises 100% response within 40 minutes...left two voicemail messages, one on Saturday (I didn't expect a response until Monday), and one at 9:30 am Monday...it's now 4:25 pm Monday: no response...

Brooklyn's Best really is just that. Responsive to my messages via Yelp, quickly arranged a technician visit, identified the problem and resolved the issue quickly. Not only that, when I had concerns at 8pm on a Wednesday the next week, they responded that very night and scheduled a technician follow-up visit that very next morning at 8am. That is amazing service, and all were friendly, calm, and helpful. I highly recommend this company thanks to great service and professionalism.

These guys were great. Our A/C cut out just as it heated up this summer. They came within a day or two of us speaking. The technician was unafraid of getting dirty to diagnose the problem. We recently had a renovation done, and our contractors had run the unit collecting a ton of dust and debris. So when we turned it on, the fan motor almost immediately burned out. Unfortunately, our A/C had an uncommon circuit board, so they had to order it. But, once it was available the technician that came worked almost all day cleaning out, servicing the unit and installing the new parts. We are very appreciative, and the A/C is working better than ever. Many thanks!

Incredibly helpful and friendly! I just needed to install a safety bracket for the AC. Basically I can do it by myself since it's fairly easy, but the problem I don't have a drill to drill holes on the window! The guy who answered my phone call was very friendly and helpful, he didn't try to do the marketing shit on me but instead advised me for better solutions and options that I really was looking for!
I certainly recommend this place and I'm gonna come back here in the future for any other services.

I called on a sticky hot day in July to request an installation asap. 24 hours later, my apartment was cool and comfortable!

Joe was informative, friendly and personable. He has a great sense of humor. From start to finish, the entire installation took less than an hour. They worked efficiently, and the end result was a solid installation of a top quality air conditioner.

I would call again in a heartbeat, and definitely recommend them to anybody trying to avoid the wheeling and dealing sometimes unavoidable at PC Richards.

My wife and twins were complaining about how hot it is and now they are complaining how cold it is.... I mistakenly put window units into the wall. My electric bill was 800 bux and we were living in a SAUNA.
Called these guys up, got an wall AC for about 500 bux delivered and then 100 to install.
I couldn't afford to get that in all 3 rooms so they hooked up the window units for me in a  very safe and cooling way

These guys were great. The sales department was super fast to respond to my request for a quote, asked for pictures when I explained the window I wanted the air conditioner in was kind of weird, and was just generally lovely and responsive. When they got to my apartment, they were efficient, friendly, and clearly knew their stuff. The plexiglass panel next to our new air conditioner is well-sealed and looks great, and our apartment is so wonderfully cool. The idea that I was even considering trying to install a new air conditioner myself is now kind of laughable when I look at what a great job they did (and so quickly!). (Also, they took my old air conditioner away for me. SO HAPPY I didn't have to deal with that!)

These guys are awesome I called them last minute and they were able to accommodate me the next day they showed up with everything they needed included with a great price on a 24000 BTU ac. Can't wait for it to get hot out so I can turn my huge apt in to a walk in cooler.

These guys were great. They did a big job removing a couple of poorly-installed a/c units I had and replacing them with great units with immaculate installations. Based on some internet research, the prices on the units were very reasonable. While the installation was not the cheapest, they did a much better job than other companies I have used; totally worth it. Both the sales staff and the installers were helpful and friendly. I would absolutely use them again and recommend them to others.

I called Brooklyn's Best AC with every intent of spending a large sum of money to have an A/C unit installed. Having understood the specifics of my situation, Joe graciously explained that under similar circumstances people had found portable units to works best. He offered to install this for me, but also told me I could likely save money by watching some simple how-to videos.

It's not often you find a business that puts the customer first to the point of actively explaining how they can cheaply and easily do something themselves.

So while I can't speak to their installation services, I can speak to the exceptional way they will treat you and ensure you get the best solution for what you need.

I am so happy I stumbled upon Brooklyn's best AC. They installed all 5 AC units within my new home and did it with expertise, professionalism and respect for the property. What a wonderful service, would recommend to all!

After dealing with PC Richards, I was looking for an actual expert person I could talk to with AC problems, issues, concerns etc.  Joe was professional and very knowledgeable- he knows a lot about air conditioners!  He returned my calls, responded to my emails and made me feel like I was able to make an informed decision.  The installation went well and so far we are happy with everything.

These guys are truly great!

They installed three AC units taken from my basement perfectly with clear plexiglas cut perfectly on site for either side. The three units were all different with three different window sizes and they installed plexi with simple silicone sealant that can easily be removed when taking the units away for the winter. Also, the neighbors' AC unit upstairs has been annoyingly drippity drippity dripping on ours and they stuck some foam padding to minimize the irritating noise. They showed up on time, were super quick and thorough, AND brought a giant shelf to the basement as a favor for free! True mensches these guys are! Go with the the Best!

These guys are simply the best. Extremely professional, accommodating and caring! Couldn't ask for better service. I had a PTAC unit in my apartment that needed to be replaced. I called all over the city and it was so frustrating trying to find a place who even offered this service. Had a different guy from a different company come in and say I'd need to get a custom built unit which would take longer, etc, etc. I didn't have time to waste as I had no heat in my apartment and it hadn't gone above freezing since Christmas. So I tried looking for other places.

I don't know why Brooklyn's Best AC was my last call as they are so highly rated... but it was. I spoke with Joe and it was as if I was talking to a person who was not only wanting to help, but who valued me as a potential customer.

Joe gave me a great quote, said that a custom built unit was not necessary and helped the process move quickly so that I could have heat sooner than later.

Here's the kicker. When he got to the apartment, the dog ran out and the door locked behind me. The building had given out the key to someone else, so there was no way to get back in. As I was cursing up a storm, Joe continued to calm me down. When the building couldn't help with a master key, Joe said: I used to be a locksmith. Let me see what I can do.

So he and his assistant (I don't remember his name) got me back into the apartment and finished the job within 45 minutes.

Joe is just a good person. And it reflects in his business.

Save yourself the hassle and just call Brooklyn's Best AC first.

These guys deserve six stars. The service is top notch. Got expert help from Joe over the phone when trying to figure what unit to get and then Joseph masterly installed it for me. You can call these guys confidence. They're the real deal, the kind of people you wish every business employed.

These guys are amazing. I left a message and they called me 10:15 next business day.
Joseph (owner) helped me select 2 new units - one a 28,000 in-wall unit (big boy!) and a 12,000 unit both to replace my  17 year old models. He told me he could do it that day and gave me a time window and how long the job would take.  He an Jacob showed up exactly when they said they would. They took out the 200 pounder and the smaller one, installed the new ones and even customized the installation in the bedroom in a way that we could open the upper window to wash it. By 3:15 I had 2 new AC's, old ones removed, boxes out of the house - done. They were totally professional and a pleasure to deal with. Do not hesitate to call them.

We contacted Brooklyn's Best after getting outrageous quotes from another HVAC company for repair and replacement of our HVAC unit.  Our technician Yair was incredibly professional and efficient.  It turns out that the other HVAC company intentionally damaged our unit, but Yair was able to fix it and the price for the work was totally reasonable.  I highly recommend Brooklyn's Best and will definitely use them again when we decide to replace our HVAC unit.

These guys are great.  They are super responsive and returned my call quickly- could come out the very next day.  I was dying of heat on the hottest day of the year or so it felt, and Joe and Joe (ha, same names) came to change a 220v outlet to 110v.  They worked quickly and efficiently, and I felt safe with them doing the electrical work in the apartment- it was clear they knew what they were doing.
On top of that, they were professional and personable- they installed an air conditioner I purchased from them (reasonably priced), a safety bracket, and the safety screws to keep it in the window without a problem.  It works like a charm.  Would totally recommend their service to anyone looking- and will definitely use them when I move again!

Great service. I needed to set up the appointment over Memorial Day weekend so a window a/c could be installed the following week. Turns out, even in NY, this was no easy task. But these guys were responsive via Yelp, phone and email over the course of our interactions. Was able to get something scheduled for the next day. Joe was timely, efficient, kind and actually listened to what I was saying about the old install, the building's rules about a/c supports, etc. He was very helpful. Worth the money.

Had a new wall-sleeve AC installed in late May during a mini-heatwave. They showed up within the 2 hour appointment window. Phoned in advance to confirm the address. Rapid, super efficient installation including removing old AC and all related materials. Whole thing was done in half an hour. Polite and pleasant to deal with. Reasonable prices. Will definitely call them again next time I need an AC.

When I moved into a new room and needed an air conditioner installed again, I went back to BBAC--this time with a slightly more complicated situation for installation--and again they were professional, reliable, quick, reassuring, and friendly, and I ended up with an AC working great installed exactly how I needed it. Very much appreciated, highly recommended.

I called Brooklyn's Best Monday afternoon (Labor Day) hoping and praying that I would get an installation appointment for the same day.  They said that their schedule was packed but said that if something were to open up that they'd call back. They did call back...to confirm that they don't have space.  Bummer.  I was just coming to terms with another night in sweltering heat when they called at 9:45 and said that one of their guys was heading home and would be driving by my apartment if I still wanted the unit installed.  I said yes in a heartbeat.

Joe came by and installed the unit in 10 minutes.  Paid via credit card (3% charge).  And that was that.  

I highly recommend them; they're incredibly responsive and professional.

Exceptional service.  I called before lunchtime to get a quote for a new window a/c to be installed in my apartment and my unit was installed just a few hours later.  I had to send Jacob some room dimensions and a photo of the power socket, but from start to finish everything was smoothly and professionally handled.  The guys who installed my unit were friendly and efficient and Joe even helped me submit an application for a rebate.  It was all way above my expectations.  I didn't really think that an a/c would really cool my 4th floor, open plan, high-ceilinged apartment but within an hour the place felt great.  I can't recommend Brooklyn's Best AC enough.

Fast and neat install in living room and bedroom over in July 2015. So good, in fact, that I am calling this weekend for them to do an install in a second bedroom (yes, in the winter, long story). If you want the job done right, please call here. Joe was the tech that installed our AC units, and I found him to be professional and amicable at the same time.

This company has it all - professionalism, communication, good prices, quality install (and clean). When I inquired online I received a call back within 24 hours. Joe actually talked me into a smaller unit that saved me money (he was right). From start to finish this company is a pleasure to deal with. I would recommend them without hesitation. Joe at Brooklyn's Best AC is the man!! I called him on a hot day this July from my office, where our terrible old AC unit had finally broken. My coworkers and I were sweating it out and I asked Joe how soon he could come and install a new one. He scheduled me for the next morning and walked me through how big an AC unit I'd need. Maybe he heard the desperation in my voice but the next morning he showed up with one guy to help him and they banged out the AC installation so fast we were all amazed. They know what they're doing! They even took the old AC out to the curb for us. Super satisfied with Brooklyn's Best AC.

These guys are great! Good prices, very friendly service and fast installation. They installed my two A/Cs today, the same day that I called, which is amazing because it was 90 degrees! They installed my A/Cs with safety brackets in less than 30 minutes. Really nice guys and great service. Highly recommend them!
