One guy came out and handled swamp cooler repair, two toilet replacements, and a kitchen sink replacement in under three hours. He did excellent work and we were billed an extremely reasonable amount for the service.

I called this company and made an appointment for an estimate to replace an outdoor spigot. I was give a window today, Tues., Feb. 6th. I called Emerson to make certain Donavaugh would keep the appointment. No........Donavaughn was installing an A/C unit in Rio Rancho and he would not have time until after 5:00 pm. My small spigot job was not worth this company's time.
We had just bought our house and was having hot water issues. Ricks guys came out reset our instant water heater and didn't charge us a thing. We would've happily paid for it but didn't want our money....these guys are honest and good people, thank you for your help
Sometimes you expect a service call to be boring and average. I had a big surprise in store. I actually had fun while the technicians answered my dumb questions. I got sound advice on my filters and replacement cadence and how to maintain my air conditioning unit. The price was reasonable to ensure my ac is operating efficiently and as it should. There is nothing like being in your home on a 100 degree day and having the ac go out. I believe in being proactive to avoid surprises and I appreciate Rick's Heating /Plumbing giving me confidence in my systems and helping me learn along the way by inspecting my a/c before summer hits us. Fantastic guys- fantastic service.

If I could give this company 0 stars I would. The kids son is running his business into the ground. They tried to charge me $525 to turn on my swamp coolers and change the pads (which I bought). They insisted we couldn't buy our own motor from Home Depot and we have to use their kit. Then the guy showed up an hour and a half before he was scheduled to, then worked for 3 1/2 hours. Or should I say, screwed around on his phone. I tried calling Emerson the whole time to find out why only one guy showed up when he insisted 2 guys had to do each cooler. Then we find out at the end of the day that they charge $100/hour for labor!!!! I was quoted $300 originally, and I confirmed with him another time to make sure. He NEVER picked up his phone. Not once. He finally called his worker back and handed me the phone. He proceeded to inform me I had my facts wrong and needed to pay the $525. Then my husband stepped in and tried to handle it. We said we want to speak to the owner, Rick, before we pay a dime. He told us that was never going to happen! He said he was so offended by us that he was going to have his brother Donovan speak to us because he couldn't handle our unprofessionalism any longer. The whole situation is beyond ridiculous. We've tried repeatedly to contact them and the kid will not answer. We plan to go in person and speak to the owner. Will never ever do business with again.
Rick's Plumbing and Heating is absolutely the most professional, courteous, timely, honest, and has more expertise than any other company we have ever used. We are senior citizens and have had many experiences, good and bad, in our lives.
Our AC was damaged by another company who left us boiling, literally, and our home warranty company was giving us a very difficult time. Emerson and his amazing crew intervened and solved everything with our warranty company and helped us be aware of our rights. THEN, they fixed our HVAC unit in a VERY TIMELY fashion. We have 5 dogs and they were SO careful to not let our rescues escape! They explained everything to us and our home is finally COOL! They did not leave a mess behind like so many others have done.
BRAVO TO EMERSON, SCOTT, JORGE, DONOVAN , STEVIE and everyone else!!! WE ARE SO PLEASED to have you as the true specialists our old, historic home deserves!
They are happy to take your money. After that, forget it. I was never given an invoice for an A/C install, and I have left message and message to please email me the invoice/receipt. Evidently, they're too busy taking other people's money. The work is good, the support is horrible. Go somewhere else.

I received the BEST service from Rick's Heating & Plumbing. I put out a quote request on Yelp for a new evaporative cooler and faucet installation. Their response was quick and professional. It took me a while to make a decision, and I appreciate that they didn't pressure me! Thomas and Davis were delightful and hard-working. I am so pleased with my new cooler and faucet! The experience was stress-free and I am 100% satisfied. Thank you for the excellent service!
I work with a lot of vendors-as is my job working in the commercial real estate industry. In doing so, I also work with warranty companies often. I also appreciate that vendors are sometimes tied to certain guidelines when working with a warranty company and the complexities that come with it. With that said, Ricks Plumbing has done a disservice to general customer service. My dad has been without hot water due to a broken part on their hot water heater for a week now with no follow up communication from Ricks after initially being out to their house on Monday. In following up with the warranty company we find out that the warranty company gave the authorization needed by Ricks on Tuesday. Today is now Thursday. If we hadn't called for an update we wouldn't even know a. That a part needed to be ordered b. That a part was ordered or c. That we had to pay for expedited shipping if we wanted the part to be here by Tuesday OF NEXT WEEK! And that's no guarantee that the part would be here by Tuesday or that Ricks could even install the part by Tuesday-if the part successfully even made it here by Tuesday on a holiday weekend! To Emerson's credit, the on call and apparent office guy, he was very polite and courteous when he returned my call after hours. Only to tell me there was nothing he could do to ensure the part or to schedule the repair because his customer is the warranty company-not my parents. What happens if/when I need a plumber (hello, commercial property manager here with over 6 million square feet of retail and office around the city) or my parents need a plumber wherein it's not being billed through a warranty company? We'll be looking elsewhere is what happens.

I had a quick job that I needed done and they were able to come out and get it fixed the following week. Reasonable price and I can't argue with the work ethic and attitude of person who came out.
Spoke with Rick over the weekend - he seemed pleasant enough. Told me he was busy but would get someone over on Monday for an estimate.
Rick called me back this morning and sent David over at 9:30. David was great found the problem immediately and got straight to work on it. Even did a few extras to get me up to code. Could have conned me out of a lot more, but chose the honest route. I recommend Rick's, and I'll call them again next time

I have a large built in wall AC and one of the hangers for the filter came off. Tom came, and while he didn't have the part, showed me how to jury rig a way to hold the filter in place. He also recommended a coil cleaner which I ordered.
Tom was polite, very patient and very helpful to me.

This was an interesting adventure. Donavaughn evaluated my problem and determined that the toilets were the cause of my issue, since they were 20 years old. When the first toilet was installed, I noticed that it was kind of small, so I asked Jorge to measure it, and then I called Emerson who recognized a minor snafu where the wrong height toilet, we ordered ADA, was acquired. by the end of the day, the correct toilets were installed, and during that process there was always a working toilet in the house.
In the next day or so, we noticed that we were having the same flushing problems that started us down this path. They sent someone to look down my sewer line, and determined that the problem, which happens in a small number of cases, was that the small flapper toilet didn't work in our house. They replaced both toilets the same day with (I think) more expensive units at no charge.
I waited a while to write this review, just to assure that everything was working perfectly... it is! These guys are highly recommended; ethical and professional.

I called Rick's Plumbing and Heating based on two recommendations from friends. A pipe by our water heater started spraying water. We called and they were able to come out quickly to repair the leak so I didn't spend another night tossing and turning worrying about it. I was so pleased with their service that I asked for a quote to replace the water heater. Ricks quote beat out two other quotes we already had from other plumbers. The new water heater is better quality than before and they replaced the valves with ones that would last longer. The work took less time than they originally estimated. Our whole family is enjoying the consistent warm water and my husband and I are so grateful to have been able to replace it for a fair price. Great quality service.
Rick's plumbing was hired by the previous owner's of our house to make some repairs to items that were noted on the home inspection that we had done as part of the process of purchasing the home. The repairs included fixing a toilet that was not properly anchored to the floor and that was leaking from the top tank, fixing the washer box that was leaking, and bringing the hot water heater up to code (adding an expansion tank, replacing the stuck T&P valve, adding earthquake straps, and a pan).
After they made their repairs we had a reinspection done. The inspector found that ALL items that had been listed to be repaired were still broken and not resolved. Rick's plumbing was called out again to make the repairs. It took a total of three visits for them to get it right.
The main reason I am giving them one start is that from the other repairs it was also discovered that a pressure reducing valve (PRV) was needed to be installed to prevent the T&P valve on the hot water heater from being tripped (they had to replace the T&P valve at $30 a pop three times before they figured that out, we weren't paying for that part of it or we would've had more of an issue with it sooner).
After they finished installing the PRV there was SEVERE water hammer coming from the valve. After he left I went into the utility closet to inspect the work and found that the valve was leaking. The individual who installed returned and told me it must be a bad valve and that they needed to buy and install another one. So they did that and installed a new valve and still there was SEVERE water hammer coming from the valve. At this point Rick (who I assume is the owner) came out with the individual who installed it and they came to the conclusion that it was another bad valve (very unlikely, and at this point I was highly skeptical but since they were not charging us I allowed them to proceed). So they went out and purchased another (different) PRV and returned to install it a third time. This time Donovan came out with the original two guys and they installed it. After this there was still SEVERE water hammer. They spent at least two hours at our house trying to figure out why this was happening, and at the end Donovan's conclusion was that there was air in our lines from the city or other plumbing issues that they would need to investigate and fix, and that we should wait a week or two and see if it would just go away...
We then went out of town for a week and upon returning we hired another plumber to take a look to get a second opinion. Our realtor shared with Donovan that we were getting a second opinion because we had ongoing concerns with the work they had done and the severe water hammer, and that based on research I did we thought that the PRV may have been installed backwards. His response was that we had trust issues for hiring someone else and that there was nothing more he could do for us. Within 5 minutes of being at our house the second plumber determined that the PRV had been installed BACKWARDS. To be sure we hired a third plumber to take a look. He also determined that the valve was installed backwards, with the arrow clearly pointing the wrong way... Within 15 minutes he had turned the valve the other way and tightened a leaking joint he found where the expansion tank had been installed by Rick's. Upon turning the water back on the water hammer went away completely.
Since fixing the issue our realtor has reached out to Donovan to inform him that the valve had been installed backwards. Rick's plumbing should have refunded us the money to hire another plumber to fix their poor work. Rick's plumbing has not responded to any calls, and Donovan will not answer the phone. We also now have some pipes that are knocking in the wall when the water is turned on and off that I will have to fix, and it is my belief that the water hammer loosened them.
My advice is to steer clear of this company entirely. They lack basic knowledge related to their work (i.e installing a valve backwards) and do not take ownership when they are clearly at fault. They do not even clean up after themselves after they complete work which is a bad sign in and of itself. We will never do business with them again.

Rick was quick to answer my Yelp query, and I compared the other yelp listed HVAC outfits and chose them.
So far, I am very content.
Jorge, the tech was on time, courteous, knowledgeable, and efficient. He provided me with a good deal of info to help me keep my HVAC running well. Time will tell if he solved the problem, but he made me understand what was going on. Money well spent!

Very good experience! They were the most affordable quote I received. Worked me into the schedule quickly, were on time and did a great job! I recommended them to my boss and she had a very good experience as well. I will be using them again!
Happy customer. Furnace went out and I called Rick's. They had Jorge out the next AM. They are very thorough, checking every part of the system. He found the issue and had the part within hours. I had heat again by mid-day. They left the area much cleaner than how they found it too. I'll definitely call them again for future issues.
Ricks Heating & Plumbing has come out twice to our home in the last month. They repaired our water heater and repaired our air conditioner. I was worried about getting gouged on the price of the repairs, because I don't know anything about air conditioners and water heaters. Ricks was very prompt with estimates (no charge for estimates) very customer service oriented and knowledgeable. I'm 65 years old so I've been gouged by this kind of stuff in the past. Ricks explained everything fixed the stuff and the cost was seemingly appropriate. They could've charged me way more and I would've paid it without question. They are family owned and just plain great. Ricks is trustworthy and their customer service was exceptional.
Rick's responded to an evening phone call by setting up an appointment for the next day. No heat in part of our house. Jorge came on time, focused on the problem, installed a new thermostat, cleaned the furnace and replaced Filters. Excellent, professional, reasonably and fairly priced. We will definitely use again for any heating or plumbing.
Ricks came out and did a fall tuneup on our heater. They were thorough and even made sure to check for carbon dioxide in every room. Fair price for 2 heaters. I love this company. Great service and nice employees! Thanks again Rick's heating and plumbing!
After getting dishonest quotes from other companies I decided to give Rick's a shot, I am very happy I did. Jorge the plumber was very honest with me and fixed my issue. I can't recommend them enough! I will only use Rick's for all my plumbing needs moving forward.

After looking for a plumber to replace a 9 year old hot water heater, I found a recommendation on the Next Door Community site for Rick's Heating & Plumbing Co. Initially they seemed caring and helpful while trying to fit me into their extremely busy schedule. As I had no hot water for a week and other plumbing problems (commode running), I was anxious to hire this Co.
Miscommunication ensued as to my being called back. I called for days with no response to my messages and no call back. Puff, nothing causing me to find another Plumber who did what they said they would. I am truly disappointed.
Called midweek for faucet issues, Gorge came out the following Monday as it was the soonest.

Only thing we didn't understand was he charged for an hour but was only here for 15-20 minutes.
I contacted this company since they were part of the PNM Check central air seasonal check up. Since they were going to be here anyhow, I asked them to install a garage disposal also. They installed the garage disposal and claimed they were unable to do the PNM central air check that day
But would call me to reschedule. I landed up calling the owner Rick since no one called me. I called multiple times afterwards and left voicemail's but he wouldn't return phone calls. How unprofessional and bait and switch methods used. I would never trust this company again.
I have hired Rick's for two jobs now. Jorge has been awesome. He's super polite and professional and punctual. Our plumbing problems were fixed perfectly the first time and for a reasonable price. I will definitely hire them again!
These guys are AWESOME! I lost my job recently and a few days later I started hearing dripping in my bathroom wall. That was the last thing I needed was an unexpected repair bill, I was devastated. They came out quickly and in 20 minutes he figured out it was my water softener installed incorrectly. I figured that I would have drywall damage looking for leaks in the wall and a huge bill at the end of the service call. Instead he shut off the water softener and the leak stopped and didn't charge me a dime until I'm ready to have it repaired when I get back to work. I'm so very grateful to them and will be using them for ALL my heating, cooling and plumbing needs in the future. I was truly impressed with their customer service! Dont hesitate to give them a call, I'm so very glad I chose them!

I used Ricks Service for the seasonal service of my Mastercool AC on my rental home. Being out of state, I relied on the professionals to service and maintain the unit as agreed upon. This was not done. It appears the water was simply turned off and on, but no cleaning or maintenance was completed. Some problems were actually created by the service. Here are the issues I found after having a professional examine the unit.
Here is a list of the issues I have with the service work that was done very poorly, and even damaging.
1. As the tenants were moving out, I went by and saw the ac was leaking water bad. They were told the pan was rusted so that's just how it was.
In looking at it, the pads were clogged and never cleaned nor changed or suggested to be done. I had asked specifically for this to be checked and changed if needed. A rusted out pan was not the problem nor was a solution provided. This situation resulted in a large amount of water and leaking water daily.
2. The overflow hose was directed to spray directly into the fan, which makes no sense and can create so many issues, including rot and rusting of the AC unit, ducting, and surrounding structures.
3. Almost 2 inches of dirt and silt was in the bottom of the tray. There is no way the accumulation occurred within 3 months time. This shows it was not cleaned out, and I wonder if it ever was for any of the previous service calls.
All of this resulted is very low airflow, water wasted and potential damage to many aspects of the home. I do not see any way these are remotely acceptable, and they are actually negligent. I feel these are very strong reasons to leave an appropriate review, especially as I was never contacted back for an explanation or attempt to rectify
The AC tech showed up in time to do our AC preventative maintenance check. He checked our blower unit (in the garage) and the AC unit outside. The AC tech went over a 32 item checklist and checked the units refrigerant pressure and also the air temp coming out of the vents in the house. We were totally satisfied with this service and I did get a military discount too!

These guys are AWESOME! First off they had a packed schedule but Scott and Donavaughn came over the day after i called, in-between jobs just to help me out with my water heater.. wasnt getting hot water. They took care of it in a minute! These guys know what they're doing.. You're in good hands!

If you're looking for excellent plumbing, cooling or heating look no further! Donovan just left the house and they got us all taken care of. They turned on the swamp cooler for the year and found a broken water spout that had cracked over the winter. They fixed up everything after carefully explaining what was going on and even stayed a bit for a friendly neighbor chat and give a few other recommendations. I highly recommend Ricks for all of your heating, and plumbing needs!
They have been wonderful in helping me solve some complex heating issues since I moved to my new home. I highly recommend them as honest and knowledgeable businesspeople
Seems like plumbers don't have interest in doing work. They over charge - more than what a physician makes and can't even work with my schedule.

This company is as good as it gets !!!!! We got home from vacation only to find out that our A/C was out. I called a friend of mine who highly recommended Rick's so I gave them a call. I told them of my situation and the gentleman I was talking with asked me if I could hold for a moment. He came back shortly and told me that he could have his expert on Rheem units there as early as 7:00 A.M. the next morning. Well that was fine with me, but in having dealt with service companies in the past I figured that it really meant around noon. At 6:30 I get a call from the technician Donovan saying he was on his way. At 6:50 my door bell rang and there was Donovan with a portable refrigerated A/C unit to help cool us off while he was working on our unit. He immediately begins working and does not stop until its finished nearly two hours later. The cost of the repair was extremely reasonable and affordable !! Donovan was very polite, professional and courteous in every way and we will highly recommend Rick's to all our friends and neighbors.
Nothing can be more scary than calling a plumber, but what a pleasant experience calling Rick's! Emerson took care of the communication and scheduling and Donavaughn came out and did the work. It's good to know that we have a friend in the business! High professional standards, ethics and a desire to make the customer happy are to be found at Rick's Plumbing and Heating! We had them out the next month to service our furnace and perform necessary repairs. Great job Rick's, thanks SO much!!!!
Rick's has become my go-to plumber in the Albuquerque area. Their techs have been uniformly knowledgeable and quick, doing a great job repairing drains that had been incorrectly set up by others in the past. Jorge in particular is a wizard with toilets and has done an amazing job getting everything set up the right way.
The peoples at Rick's Heating and Plumbing are great. Gorge was communicative and punctual. Had our water pressure and hot water up and running in no time. Recommended. Thank you, Rick.

I can't imagine how our experience with Rick's Plumbing and Heating could have been better. We had a leaky shower fixture. I don't remember why I chose to contact Rick's Plumbing (after searching through the Yelp reviews - not all of which were good), but I did. I emailed to see if they would be interested in taking a look at our problem. They responded shortly thereafter saying they would. They asked for a number at which they could reach me. I provided that and later that day they called and made an appointment. No charge to stop by and check it out. Long story short, they showed up on time, assessed the problem and gave us a quote. They said they could go buy the part(s) they needed and come back and fix the issue immediately. We agreed. That's exactly what they did. No muss...no fuss. What's even better was when they gave us the invoice it was LESS than what they had quoted us. Why? Because the parts were less than they had figured so they didn't charge us as much. Really? We would never have known that. Shower works great. We will definitely call Rick's Plumbing and Heating anytime we need any of the services they provide. Thank you, Rick's!
