Best Plumbing Services in Virginia
These guys are the best. Reliable, prompt and courteous. They did the job on time and on budget. My AC is blowing cold and we couldn't be happier.

Had a leak in the bathroom, so I reached out to Mr. Stokes. He was able to come the same day fitting us into his busy schedule. He was pleasant, very patient, and explained what he was doing to my very stressed out grandmother. He gave suggestions on how to maintain her pipes after he corrected the issue & his pricing was fair. For all that he and his partner did, it was worth every penny. I'm grateful for his help & would definitely recommend him to anyone who need plumbing work done. If you are paying with a credit card, there is an extra 6% fee attached to your bill.

I have been struggling all weekend with a DIY plumbing project at home which meant that for most of that time the family had no water. None of the local big box stores had what I needed so I waited until Monday when Comet would be open. After thinking I could go right after work I realized they would be closed by then. BUT, thanks to EARL, he made it happen! He made arrangements for me to pay over the phone and pick up my items after they closed. Whew!!! Happy wife is a happy life, need I say more? Thank you Earl for keeping me out of the dog house and for thinking out of the box to provide great customer service.

Ok, I was going to give them a 2, but after reading all their responses to the reviews posted on yelp brought it down to a 1. Their responses are filled with sarcasm and anger, not the kind of people I want to deal with. And no, I do not have the wrong company!! Had them take out a water filtration system, very easy job (the whole job took less than an hour) and the work was satisfactory, but then I got a bill for just shy of $300!!! The guy had to run to the store to buy 2 small pieces (also got charged $26 for that, which I know did not cost $26!!) and took an hour. I paid the bill and verified I was getting charged for his travel time, yep (and also $25 trip charge for them to come to your house) immediately called the office, she asked if she could reimburse me $25 to make me happy or if I would like to speak to the manager. I told her it was going to take a lot more than $25 and requested a call from the manager. Never heard back. I do not usually hire companies that want to charge you for them to come to your house, ridiculous way for them to make more money. Will not hire anyone again that charges by the hour and will always get a receipt for materials bought! Will never use again or recommend to anyone, but will def NOT recommend them to others

I have had a service contract with American mechanical for several years. I was happy with their service until yesterday. I have a home in Virginia Beach where I live part time. I needed to schedule my seasonal maintenance while I was here and before the weather got hot.
I called and was able to get a window of time for the next day, Wednesday 8-12. When I was making the appointment I asked if the technician could install a Nest thermostat. The scheduler initially told me they needed approval from my condo management firm, I told her we were the owners and did NOT need prior approval. While I was on hold as she investigated that issue I heard all the recordings about the services they can provide. After a lengthy wait on hold the manager, John, came on the phone to inquire about the thermostat. He asked me if I already had it and I told him I did not but would have it when the tech arrived.
He proceeded to tell me the Nest was not a good item and that they install a lot of them only to come back and replace one year later. I asked for his recommendation and he mentioned a Trane. I asked him how much that would be and he said he did not know off the top of his head, but about $400 and it would be much better than the Nest. I told him that since he was the expert I would need to trust him to recommend the ideal item for my purposes. He said absolutely I could trust him. I also asked him about getting my dryer vent cleaned out while he was here along with the thermostat and maintenance. He said sure for an additional $150. I asked for a discount and he dropped it to $100. I was then transferred back to the scheduler. When she started to schedule, I asked again just how much the thermostat would be, she asked someone, and told me it would be the quoted price of $400. I was under the impression, he did not know how much they were cause there are so many and needed to find out.
The next day I waited until 11:30 to receive a call from the technician that he was about 30 min away, but was headed my way. He arrived about 12:30 ( my window was 8-12). He brought in all of his machines to clean the dryer and began to clean the vent. I had purchased the tin dryer hose to replace the worn plastic type which he did do. It was about 3:00 by now and he started to install the thermostat. He put in a Honeywell T-6 Pro. He left me to set it up once it was installed. ( no directions were included). He went on to do the maintenance. Once he finished with the maintenance , he looked at the water heater. Afterwards he wanted me to pay and sign the paperwork. I asked him if he would replace the filters for me and was upset he had to go back down and get his ladder. When he gave me my total, he said it was $689! I freaked, they were charging me for ANOTHER service contract before my old one was used! After more phone calls it was resolved and I was billed $500. When he left now 4:30, it was 75 degrees in my house. I set the thermostat at 70 and waited 18 hours for it to cool and it was STILL 75 degrees in my house while the unit worked the whole time.
I called back to schedule another service call to which I was told I had to wait until one was available. There was another tech who could come, but he couldn't come until he was finished where he was. I I was transferred once again to John and I asked him about the thermostat. I told him that I saw the exact same unit on Amazon for $79.95. He said uh huh! I asked him if they charge $320 for installation and he saidYES! I repeated the question and he once again said yes and kinda laughed! I could not believe how I was treated! I said ok, lesson learned. I waited until after noon and phoned again. I was told they could NOT give me a time, but as soon as his bubble turns white, I will have him call you!
Scott arrived and within minutes determined that BOTH the heat and air were running simultaneously! How is that possible?? He had it repaired and blowing cold air for the first time since the Hvac was replaced 5 years ago! Upon doing my overdo research, I found Nest is the number one rated thermostat, Trane is #6 and Honeywell is #7.
Why do men think it is OK to take advantage of women and then laugh at them? Oh by the way, I felt bad for Joe working through his lunch I gave him an additional $10 in cash to buy lunch. Shame on me.
I am going to rethink my HVAC/electrical/plumbing services with American Mechanical long and hard. I want to see some resolution.
Update, after working with their customer advocate, I am happy to say they made the situation right! I was pleased with the resolution to my concerns.
Thank you!

Do not call these people unless you want to be frustrated! They are so unprofessional including the female who answers the phone. I see another reviewer said they called at the end of the day stating they would be there until Monday on Friday. At least they called. I didn't get a call. No phone call at all. These people are under contract with my home warranty company. First they scheduled me outside the turnaround time under the contract which requires 48 hour turnaround. Next they didn't show or call after waiting from 12-4pm. I called at 3:50 and nasty Donna who answers the phone said I was next and they were coming. She was very disrespectful earlier this week. Well it's almost 8pm no Ellsworth and no answer. If they don't care about a contract which brings them lots of work, they won't care about someone who is not under contract.

I found them to be very expensive. I made the mistake of not having a clear understanding up front of what they were to charge. They then attempted to charge interest not supported by any agreement.

My experience with Curtis Key Plumbing was very distasteful and left and extremely bad taste in my mouth, April 18, 2017 I had a scheduled appointment for 0700 and at 0721when the contractor had not shown up I reached out to the company and I was given the total run around for 15 mins and then told someone would be at my house within the hour, so my already planned out day had to be readjusted to meet the needs of this PLUMBING COMPANY I thought it was all about CUSTOMER SERVICE. When then contractor finally showed up I asked was my appointment sent for 0700 and he acknowledged yes it was schedule for 0700 and he had no explanation of why there was a no show and that he was tasked with coming over to my residence at 0730 so that is why he is over a hour late. throughout the wait process I spoke with the organization 3 different times and requested for a supervisor to call me and as of now 10:02am I have not spoken to anyone or a supervisor for compensation for the work being done at my home. After finally getting a hold of someone (not a supervisor) I was told that the owner Curtis never reaches out and speak with customers and it rare if a supervisors returns calls. I believe this to be UNSAT. I do not recommend others utilizing this organization for future plumbing jobs.
