Believe the reviews. Paul the Plumber is knowledgeable, honest, communicative and fair priced. I have called him to fix a few jobs already from toilet problems to a backed up shower drain and the latest, a leaking pipe which has caused water damage in my ceiling. I have used a couple plumbers in the past, but I really like the service that Paul provides and I will only call him from now on. He may not be able to get to you right away, but he does prioritize his customers and will help you as soon as he can.
He is everything the reviews state and more! We needed our hot water heater replaced. Mind you it was replaced 2014 without any problems. Not this time. We had two other plumbers who said too hard to do and costly. I decided to start goggling. I came across Paul. It was the best thing ever. He was prompt, courteous and got the job done (without any issues). We highly recommend him. We also will use him in the future. Thank you much Paul for a job well done.
Called him Thanksgiving evening after our hot water tank flooded our laundry room, and he replaced the tank the next morning. You will not find a better plumber (or person) to do your job. Highly recommended. And he doesn't advertise. Word of mouth only. Which is incredible. I found him here on Yelp based on his reviews.

I never thought I'd care for a plumber that I could trust, let alone feel like I wasn't being taken for a ride, but Paul quickly put those worries to rest. He's accessible by phone and text, and came by my house the very next day for an issue I had with my sump pump.
Paul was able to see what the problem was immediately. Upon diagnosing the issue, he gave me some options that were reasonable in price, time, and ensuring the quality in parts and worksmanship. He even gets his supplies from a special plumbers store vs. the big box stores that you and I would normally get parts and stuff from.
I was up and running in no time at all, and I was able to quickpay Paul vs having to write out a check. Got a receipt for the work, and couldn't be more at peace after all was done.

Paul was great, showed up when he said he would. Texted when he was on the way.
I had a leak under the kitchen sink & the repair was pretty simple & he only charged the service fee.
I wish all contractors operated like he does!
Paul came recommended by a trusted friend. When you call Paul the Plumber, you get Paul the Plumber. No lackeys no BS. Our water heater failed. He was there the next morning with a very high quality American Made unit. The job was left near and clean. He even arranged a pick up of the old WH. Paul will be the only plumber in my phone.

Reasonable price. Quality work. Responsive and efficient communication.
He installed a new water heater for us and the whole installation process was quick considering the quality of the work. Our heater was up and running in about 1-hr and we had hot water in about 1-hr later. He also hauled away the old water heater.
Paul was quick to respond to my service call. Once he arrived, he thoroughly explained to me and showed me the problem and offered a few different choices to resolve it. There was never any pressure on what avenue to take.
Pricing on all options was very reasonable and the repairs were done quickly and properly.

Knowledgeable, professional, friendly plumber. Very easy to get ahold of - when we need a house call, we can text him and make quick arrangements. He is very communicative on his arrival window and when he is en route. Paul works efficiently and explains what he needs to do. He has fixed multiple toilet problems, replaced our hot water heater, and replaced our garbage disposal. He even has instructed us how to fix small issues on sinks and banging pipes ourselves so he doesn't have to charge us to fix in a bigger way than necessary. Paul is great - stop reading reviews and hire him!
Paul is exactly what I want in a person whom I entrust to come into my home to fix/replace something.
I had called several companies recommended to me - Paul the Plumber was on that list. What set him apart in the beginning was his suggestion, on his website, to send him pictures of the issue at hand. This offers a customer an immediate connection - a real way to be seen, and the problem validated.
He makes communication easy via email/text/call.
Paul is professional, smart, friendly, fair-priced, and efficient. He helped me through the entire process of getting a new water heater and getting rid of the old one. He also answered my questions about fixing/replacing a toilet - never once pushing on me brands out of my price range that I really didn't need. His knowledge of brands/features/stores to search saved me hours of time as I tend to overthink/research such things. I hired Paul to come back to install the toilet!
It's been a few weeks - both items are working GREAT! :D
It was surely a bummer to have had to make large purchases after buying this condo only 2.5 years ago ... and I am sure there will be more opportunities for me to use Paul the Plumber's expertise -- that's the good and bad new all in one lol.

Paul replaced my home leaky hot water tank in early June 2022. He is efficient, knowledgable and direct. I recommend him.
BOTTOM LINE. 5/5 stars. Professional, reasonable, and local. Glad to support a local small business. I would use Paul again and recommend them.
PROBLEM. Had water running down into my basement from a first-floor wall Sunday night. I had to shut the water off. So it was an emergency Monday morning. I was preparing to get gouged by a plumber.
EMERGENCY. Called Paul after a referral from another company that could not accommodate the emergency. Paul had someone out within 2.5 hours.
ASSESSMENT. Paul's plumber found the cause of the problem. The cause of the water was the pipe to the laundry room utility sink that was coming loose behind the wall.
PRICING. Gouged? Absolutely not!! Paul was upfront on what the cost would be. They charge by the hour. The plumber fixed everything within an hour. The rate was reasonable.
CLEAN UP. We were happy with the care Paul's plumber took to clean up the work area. No additional cleaning up was needed.
EXTRAS. I had the plumber replace the shutoff valves for just the cost of parts, as they charge labor by the hour. Heck... I was making a mental list of tasks had there been remaining time I was paying for.
Paul is super nice and we love our new kitchen faucet. He was able to fix our leaking moen hose the same day I called. I liked being able to communicate via text and getting our new Kohler faucet from his design warehouse vs the big box guys like Home Depot and Lowe's that are typically lowered end items. I highly recommend Paul. Thank you for making this process smooth for new home buyers who know nothing about fixing things.

I think this is my third review of Paul. We started using his services a few years ago, and have been using and recommending him ever since. This time he replaced our aging 50 gallon water tank with a new hi-efficiency model. He also repositioned the gas line leading to our fireplace. In both cases the prior installation had been done very poorly. Now it is beautiful.
Here's a typical Paul story. The day before he was scheduled to do the install of our new water tank, our daughter called in a panic as she had water all over her basement and didn't know who to call. I texted Paul and he immediately got back to me. He was just finishing up a job but said he'd stop by to at least check it out. In the time I expected him to be calling me back to ask for the address again (which he never does because he always gets it right), he called me to let me know he'd finished. He figured out that the water in the discharge hose outside had frozen and blocked the water which caused the motor to burn out. He replaced the sump, fixed the pipe and repositioned some other piping which had been misaligned. He didn't charge for the extras. That made us even happier customers.
Reasons to use Paul:
1. Quality work - the guy is a real pro. He knows what he's doing. Works quickly and efficiently. Doesn't hang around to tell you long stories. He's always got another job waiting.
2. Quick responses. Most everything is by text at first, and that's good. He's always been great about getting back to us asap. He may not be able to come that minute, but he will give you an honest and concise response.
3. Fair pricing. He has been here 7 times and not once did I feel that he had overcharged. He is good about explaining what something will cost and giving you alternatives.
4. Nice guy. Friendly. Hard working. Honest. Responsive. We continue to highly recommend Paul the (most excellent) Plumber.
Paul does an awesome job. He has done my water heater as well as my sump pump. He is a really nice guy, courteous, professional, and very responsive. He always shows up on time. His prices are fair and transparent. Definitely the choice for plumbing needs in the western suburbs!

My dad discovered that our sump pump was leaking yesterday; however, he decided to monitor for one day instead of calling a plumber right away... So of course, it looked worse today and I start panicking... I called around and was so glad that Paul is available today.
Paul was professional and responsive. He showed up at the time he promised, quickly examined the pump, identified the problem, and fixed it. We have two sump pumps and I always thought they were both working, but Paul discovered that the second pump was broken. Since he carries new pumps in his truck, Paul was able to replace our broken pump right away.
Paul then discovered that the pipe in the yard was frozen, which caused the leaking problem in the sump pump. He provided a temporary rubber pipe and recommended us finding a landscape to install a wider pipe. Thanks for solving all our problems, Paul!

Paul was excellent! Called him on Thursday, he picked up on the first try. Was able to provide a quote fairly quickly, and offered some near-term availabilities. We were pretty sensitive about COVID, and Paul was willing to accommodate us by making us his first customers for the day.
As a one-man crew, he was able to get a water heater replaced in ~1 hour, which was incredible. Would definitely use him again for any other plumbing services.

I woke up this morning to water running out of the cupboard under my sink onto the floor. I opened the cupboards to find a leak. I called Paul and through our conversation and a few photos, we were able to figure out we needed a new faucet. He said he could come by tomorrow but ended up calling a couple hours later cause he happened to be in the neighborhood. Not only did he come by with a replacement faucet that works and looks great, but he also found a leaky shutoff valve that he was able to replace on the spot. He also tightened the lines and some pipes that were loose. He saved us so much time and stress today, and we couldn't be more thankful! He was super nice too. I would definitely recommend Paul the plumber!

Clearly he does great work from the reviews! Which is why I called him. He asked me to send him a pic of the issue with my address. So I did that and then got a call from another plumbing co saying he forwarded my info to them. Unfortunately I had an awful experience with the plumbing co he sent my into to in the past so I never called them.
I'm not sure why he couldn't help me with my leaky sink because he never responded to me or told me he was going to refer it out to another company but a little heads up would have been nice!

Paul is simply the real deal plumber. I hope I never see him again because I do not want to have any plumbing issues. BUT if I do, I am glad that I now have a go-to plumber who knows his stuff, is trustworthy and won't charge up the wazoo!
About two weeks ago, our kitchen sink would not drain. My husband tried his best to get it unclogged but to no avail. To top it off, he noticed a leak under the sink. All great timing since we were expecting company for the weekend. The next day, I was frantically looking for a plumber. One guy didn't return my call, another said it would be $300 to start... Well, ok - thank you and goodbye.
So to Yelp I go... You guys have never steered me wrong. Paul managed to fit me in between scheduled appointments since he got done early on one. Long story short, he unclogged the kitchen sink, fixed the leak and charged WAY less than the other guy's quote. Need I say more? :)
I got three bids to replace my hot water heater. Paul was right in the middle. His new unit was also 4 inches shorter than my existing unit, and I wanted a shorter tank to have more angle on the exhaust. He responded quickly to my inquiry, and had an opening the next day. My thermocouple went bad, and we had no hot water. (I could not buy an exact replacement, and you dont want to jury rig that part, IMHO.) Paul showed up on time as promised and had the new heater installed pretty fast. We had a flexible gas connector on the old one, and Paul had to replace that with solid gas pipe to meet code. Nice, professional work, and I learned a few tricks by watching him work! If anyone asks me for a plumber, I'm sending them to Paul...
Paul deserves a recent review! If you want a tradesman that is honest, you should just dial his number. Paul tried to have me solve my misfiring water heater via text message. When I did, unfortunately, need a new one, he replaced it quickly at a fair price. So happy to have encountered this great businessman.
I had found Paul recommended through the neighborhood app Nextdoor. I had some pipes flagged during a home inspection and so I reached out to him. Paul called me and walked me through how to clean my pipes and what to look for to make sure it wasn't something more serious. The pipes cleaned up great! I can not recommend him enough. He saved me having another person in my house during COVID, along with possibly having someone lie to me and charge me to fix all my pipes. I appreciate his honesty and his ability to walk someone who has zero knowledge of plumbing on how to properly clean their pipes.
Had Paul out on on a whim (after seeing him recommended on Nextdoor and seeing many good Yelp reviews) to fix a leak under our kitchen sink. He came the same day I reached out to him - no extra charge!
I could not have been more pleased! First, he repaired the leak no problem. He came when he said he would - and even texted when he was 30/45 min away...which was SO nice to know. When he was here, he was very kind, pleasant to chat with and his price was very reasonable.
He was here less than 30 minutes and besides the fact the sink no longer leaked, you wouldn't even know he was here! He was left everything very clean.
We are definitely going to have him back, not just when a repair pops up, but to replace some faucets and stuff.
Very, very glad we had him come and would recommend him to anyone who needs a plumber.

Paul is awesome!
We were doing some drywall patching due to a stain on our ceiling that we THOUGHT was from a window we had replaced. Turned out, the stain was from a leaky drain, and the drywall guy was going to hold off until we found a plumber to fix the leak. We were on a tight project deadline, too.
Paul came out on super short notice, and was able to quickly assess and repair the leak. He provided fair pricing upfront. Friendly guy, too!

I haven't even had his service yet but I already wanted to leave a review to say how much I am impressed and appreciate Paul's straightforwardness! I did a quick search for a plumber today when I found my kitchen sink suddenly clogged. I came across this page because of the great reviews and thought I'll just try and ask. When I called and explained my situation, Paul immediately recommended that I hold off and see if the clog goes away when the weather warmed up. He didn't want to have to charge me for a visit if that was going to end up being the reason! Honestly, I did not expect that! I immediately bookmarked him because I know if I DO end up needing repairs, his kind of integrity in his work is what I will need! Thanks Paul!
One of the two sump pumps in my basement was acting up during a time when I was not able to take time off work to be home to arrange for repair. My sister-in-law contacted Paul on my behalf. Within hours, he met her at the house, inspected the existing pump, replaced it, AND installed a battery that I had purchased earlier for the back-up pump. By the time I was home from work, I had nothing to worry about.
I just returned home from a weekend trip and discovered that the second pump is acting up. Paul will be receiving a call from me tomorrow! Highly recommended.

Had a very good experience with Paul today.. he figured out an issue with an external spigot in minutes and instead of it needing to be replaced, Paul was able to fix the problem in under 10 minutes. I also double paid electronically by mistake and he refunded the extra payment immediately. All in all great experience. Would definitely use his service again!

Was 3 hours late without any communication about it. When I texted, he said it would be an hour (it was 2 1/2)--I understand stuff comes up, but a little communication would be appreciated.
Also charged more than other plumbers, and doesn't guarantee his work.
Excellent service !! They were so professional and nice . They knew exactly what was going on , they are honest. They got the job done in literally 30 minutes. We will defiantly be calling them in the future if we need to.

The best service hands down! He answers his phone and shows up when he says! He charges a fair price and is honest as they come. He does all my plumbing work and there is no need for anyone else.

Paul was great. Very respectful, responsive and reasonably priced. We had a leaking master bath toilet with was installed incorrectly by previous owner. Over time became a hidden problem. Paul not only fixed it quickly but went as far as trimming the tile around the toilet so everything fit and looked perfect. Felt he went above and beyond and was looking out for us. Wow. Such a nice and professional guy! My husband called him about replacing a sump pump and also a leaky outdoor faucet we've had issues with since we moved in a few years ago. He was available via phone/text and very responsive. He returned our initial call quickly, and also let us know he was on his way about 10-15 minutes before he arrived. Paul was great. I had an issue with a toilet that I tried to repair and that was broken. Paul installed a new one at a good price and quickly. He is very honest and work well and fast. I will call him for any plumbing issue.
My ejector pump went out and I had a little flooding in the basement. I sent out a request for quote to 4 companies and Paul responded first. He came out and replaced the pump the following day. He is friendly and personable. He is efficient and tidy. He provides competitive price and useful information. I will definitely use him again.
Fast, friendly, and courteous service. I felt the price was more than fair. I am happy to say I do have a plumber now.

Paul installed our water heater on Dec 9th . I called more than one plumber in the area. He sent a quote after asking the proper questions.
Let me first tell you that another plumbing outfit did not seem to care that our heater was not broke, but was on its way out. They would not install a unit on a Saturday - saying they save those for emergencies. The management commented that one of the employees has his good moods and bad moods. Didnt really need to hear this as an excuse why they missed the appt time to give a quote
Paul the Plumber was prompt on Dec 9. His price was in the ballpark. Like other reviews he explained everything! Very polite . He even followed up after a few hours to make sure all was working fine- saying he called a junk guy to get the old unit picked up.
My friend/neighbor just called him yesterday when their water heater stopped. Great job there as well!

First, Paul answered his phone on the first ring at 6:30PM. Then he gave me a firm quote for replacing 2 water heaters. The price was competitive, a little more than my neighbor paid a handyman to do it; but Paul is a real plumber. Third, Paul re-arranged his schedule because one of my water heaters was already leaking all over the floor. He arrived on time at 8:45AM the next morning, started draining my existing units, and the went to another appointment.
I had to leave for the airport at 2P. He returned at 10:30AM with the new water heaters that were an EXACT match, size-wise, to the old ones. So there wasn't any re-piping to have to pay for.
All of the work was done by the promised noon time. Paul's work was excellent. I plan on using him for the next plumbing need I have.

I called Paul over the weekend and told him about a leaking outdoor faucet at my house. He answered immediately and set up a time to come out Monday. When he arrived, he took care of everything, even putting in an access plate where he had to cut into the wall. That kept me from having to patch drywall and repaint. When it was all done he took off about $30, which was cheaper than any other qutoes. I definitely recommend Paul!

I needed a pre-purchased battery backup sump pump installed in our new home and Paul had this installed in a timely manner. He even fished out a few frogs that somehow got down in the well (which I never would have guessed could make their way down there)!
Overall, Paul was very personable and even followed up with an unrelated smart home question I had the next day via text message. That's great service!

Paul deserves more then 5 Stars, his communications was excellent right from the get go. He kept us informed about the time he would be out to install our replacement dishwasher.
Once he got here, he figured the problem out right away, we had previously 5 times people out and nobody could figure out why the dishwasher was leaking.
It took Paul 5 minutes to figure out it was a leak in the hose.

Paul The Plumber will be the one and only plumber we use from now on - he's the best of the best! We contacted Paul through Yelp to request an estimate for replacing a faucet and he responded within minutes. He helped us locate the new faucet we wanted and was out to install it within a day. Paul is professional, courteous, meticulous and reasonably priced. We were extremely pleased with Paul and the job he did for us - we highly recommend him!
Sump pump was first, then came the water heater followed by a leak from the sink in the master bathroom. Thankfully I found Paul with the first issue and was able to count on him for the subsequent issues. Paul was extremely knowledgeable and provided options for me to choose from. I was very impressed with his knowledge and professionalism. The quality of service and the reasonable costs are second to none. Called Paul again for an ejector pump that failed us. Paul came right away and diagnosed the problem. He did a fantastic job with a newer more efficient and quieter pump. We also asked him to replace our dying water heater. It was rusting and leaking as well. As always, Paul was prompt, used industrial strength materials, was courteous as usual, and did a bang up job with setting up new pipe connections! Great guy and a family guy! He's local and and always explains very thoroughly how each part works and why something fails! Five starts through and through!

Paul is great! Had him come by to rod out a sink that another plumber failed to correctly perform. He took the time to explain what he was doing and did the job right. Paul was friendly, knowledgeable and installs quality products. Pricing is fair and he was responsive. I particularly like he's from the western suburbs, as I always try to support local businesses.
We got Paul's number from a friend and called him with an emergency. He came out right away and notified us of his ETA. He was able to fix our problem quickly in under a half hour and we thought he charged a very fair price. I would recommend him to my friends and I would definitely use Paul again.
Used this plumber as he came highly recommended. I was provided a quote for the work and a window as when he would come to complete the job. Paul is a staunch professional, completed the work a great deal quicker than my expectations, cleaned up after himself and provided years of warranty. I also need to mention he completed the work for literally hundreds of dollars less than other companies had previously quoted me. This guy is a winner, i will use no other plumbing company/services.

Paul recently repaired a faulty toilet in my home and he also replaced two corroding hot water heaters. He was quick to respond to all of my inquiries, he explained what needed to be done and why, he made the repairs promptly, he went above and beyond to see that the repairs were very well done, he gave me fair and competitive prices, he was neat and removed all discarded parts, and he was courteous and friendly. It was an all-around great experience, and I highly recommend Paul for any of your home plumbing needs.

Had Paul out over the summer to fix a clogged drain. Super professional, prompt, and overall a great guy. He takes pride in his work and really does treat it as if it was his own house. There's a reason this guy doesn't have to advertise, his work ethic and the quality of work speak for themselves.
Yesterday (Sunday) morning we noticed that we had no hot water. Opened the basement door and could see water on the floor, I called Paul right away. He walked me through the steps to turn off the water supply and drain the tank to avoid a bigger mess. He didn't want to have to charge me for a Sunday call so he moved his schedule around so that he could come first thing Monday morning. A few minutes later he called and said that he lived 5 minutes away and would come over to make sure everything was shut off and hook up the hose to drain the tank. The man stopped by on his way to church at no charge! He pointed out how the previous water heater was not properly installed and fixed the copper and PVC pipes accordingly. He is as clean as he is thorough and went above and beyond as he did the first time I used him. I would not hesitate to refer him to anyone I know in need of a plumber. I hope I never see him again (haha) but should I ever be in need of a plumber, there's no question as to who I would call....

Our lives are changed by Paul the Plumber!! We have had TERRIBLE water pressure in our house for 5 years. We have had 5 plumbers look in to it, the city look in to it and all manner of people shake their heads and say they have no clue what is going on. Today Paul fixed it!!!!! I can't express our gratitude and sense of wonderment enough! It's been taking a full 5 minutes to fill a dog water bowl! We have gained hours of our lives back! We can even flush a toilet and use a washing machine at the same time. We are SO grateful for his pleasant demeanor, his optimism, his skill and his logic. Called Paul for my leaking garbage disposal.. he was at my home in 30 minutes and fixed the problem promptly. He explained everything that he was doing. I won't say he is cheaper (price perspective) but is reasonable and at times if we have pay a few extra for better service. It's worth it.

Our water heater recently went out on us so we started calling around looking for somebody who could come out that day and install a new one. Paul answered on the first ring and said he could be out with a new water heater in a couple of hours. His price was right in line with the other quotes we had from companies that couldn't get out until the next day. Paul did a great job and was very upfront about the costs of the project. He even called somebody to haul away the old one for free.
Great job, great guy. Been struggling with problem drain on and off for years. Paul rodded out the drain, reworked the drain pipes beneath the sink to have each side drain independently. Drains better than it has in years. Honest, good work.
