Another great experience with M&R. First, let me start by saying these guys pick up the phone. When I had HVAC problems, I couldn't get anyone to show up or answer the phone. So, it's good to have responsive service people.
Art W. was great. He showed up on time and even called ahead with an ETA. He knew what he was doing and didn't charge us an arm and a leg for service. Will definitely use them again. I wish I could get HVAC guys that were this responsive and reliable.
Had what I considered to be two small jobs that needed to be done, fixing a leaking copper joint and replacing the cartridge in a shower faucet. Technician worked on both for about an hour and had me turn on the water. He had problems with the faucet, so went back to work. After many attempts of turning the water back on and off, he declared that some faucets just can't be fixed, which I understand, however we were now left with a faucet leaking significantly more than before (in fact if it was turned to the proper place previously, it did not leak) and a $500 bill and a quote for $500 to replace the shower valve. If it was not leaking so bad, I would have shopped around. What was previously no big deal had become an urgent issue of their making. To make matters worse, our son went to use the shower, and the handle and cartridge flew out with water spraying out of control. We had to open the wall and put shark bite fittings to allow us to maintain water for the night. Sent an email to the office, and never heard back. $1000 lesson learned.
MR Plumbing did a full bathroom remodeling project for us and we could not be happier. They coordinated all of the elements and trades needed. The project coordinator, Tony, was prompt and courteous, keeping us updated through the entire project. The subtrades that he worked with were of the highest quality and very professional.
Just moved into a house in Chicago built in 1956...house has been vacant for years. Kitchen sink just stopped draining a week after we moved in. Had someone come out yesterday who ran 30' of line through the kitchen sink drain and couldn't get through. He suggested cutting into the wall behind the sink ..we just finished remodeling the kitchen after 2 months..so that was a no.
We decided to get a 2nd opinion and called Mr Plumbing. The owner, Mark was great. Asked a lot of questions so he had an idea what they were dealing with. Kevin came out 1st thing the next morning and he was WONDERFUL. He was able to rod the drain with no problem. AND I think my kitchen floor was cleaner when he was done than before he started...very tidy work.
We will be using mr plumbing for any and all future plumbing needs. Great work, guys

I did not decide to cancel. The gentleman I spoke to specifically said that he could not guarantee that someone would be able to come out at all yesterday. So if you were planning on coming in the afternoon he did not sound too hopeful about it. And yes I was expecting you earlier because that's when the appointment I made 2 days prior was set for. And if you have to bump someone for other emergencies then common courtesy tells you that you should at least call them and let them know. Let's just call it a clean break and the best of luck to you and your company.
We made a mistake and had some work done by another firm. If there was one word to describe MR Plumbing, it would be professional. From prompt responses to thorough work, and great customer service like using shoe covers when they entered our home and explaining the situation completely. We couldn't be more pleased. A great experience all around.
Excellent plumber. Very knowledgeable and helpful. Fair price. Great job!!!
Highly recommend!!!

Called on a Saturday for service due to unable to correct the problem myself due to a recent auto accident and having a fractured vertebrae. A technician arrived, rodded the main but didn't comment that the slip joint outside the home wasn't aligned properly. Left a mess of plumbing discharge in the workspace, and didn't offer to clean it up. Charged $695, and he spent double the time outside in the driveway organizing his truck, which I was told was part of the bill. I called back 10 months later, asked what their warranty was, told rudely I should be happy it worked for 10 months and I need to pay again for them to return. Called a REAL plumber who properly diagnosed the issue, corrected the issue and knock on wood no issues for 20 months. Their customer service is unprofessional, I have asked to be taken off their mailing list and they can't even do that right. BS company, they and Service 1 heating out of Plainfield are in the same category.
I'm giving 5 stars for the phone response, plumber sent, quality of work, politeness, attitude, and extremely quick service.
But I'll echo other reviews- extremely overpriced.
I needed the little piece inside my shower handle replaced - it's outside and it cracked. I bought the piece at Home Depot for 7$ but I couldn't figure out how to do it - even with u tube. So I Angie's listed it and these guys were on it. Didn't even discuss price bc I thought it was a 5 minute fix (which it was) and would be maybe just the cost of the visit - this wasn't an emergency as I have 4 other showers in my house I can use! When he was done - and he was super nice - and genuinely loves his work - it was $400 - but he added a coupon of about $30 to help me out. $370 for a 7$ piece!!!
In the end I'm glad i have $ and can afford it but I feel bad for those who are on a budget. Maybe my cost was high bc I'm in a nice neighborhood - or maybe this is really the going rate!???
All in all i would call them again bc I like the dedication and professionalism of this company.
Bob and Mark very responsive to my code violation needs. I have repair and renovation on over 40 units in 30 years. Thanks for being on yelp. Also Simeon very conscientious representative of their customer service.
Bob and Mark were professional and understanding when our sewer backed up into our crawlspace. They helped us out in a timely manner with a solution we could afford. We are very grateful for the work they did to allow us to use our drains again!

The service from MR PLUMBING is superb. They are professional and work with you until approved by the towns inspections. We used their services twice and both times, very happy. They are trust worthy and not expensive at all. They do great work and are worth every cent they charge. If you need any kind of plumbing job, they are the place to go. As well as being professional they are friendly. Thank you for a great job!

They do good work but seem overpriced to me. We we're charged $350.00 to replace the guts in our toilet. I understand the cost of doing business but I can't help feel we got ripped off. We won't be calling them again
I used MR. Plumbing (not sure of exact name as I think these are different owners with a varied name, not sure). Used to be called M&R Plumbing when I first moved into area,.
I had Art out here on 2 or 3 occasions for different issues. At one point, I made a statement that the plumbers worked on commission as the quotes came in rather high (this was denied). I am extremely disappointed in the fact that they do not back up their work (only deny and want to do additional work with a very high cost). Example: The natural gas grill outdoors had a smell of gas. Yes, I should have called Nicor first to trace the leak. I had a connection replaced and there was still an odor of gas. Luckily, there is a shutoff valve. So, Art fixed the same part that had just been replaced, claiming that that was the issue. I told him that I did not think that was the issue as the part was new. Charged me a pretty penny for that and, guess what, all he did was replace an already new part and did NOT fix the smell of gas. I mentioned to him on the next visit and his answer was that the ground had to be dug up and all new piping put in from grill to gas meter and the charge would be over $1,000. I said, but you already fixed it. No offer to reduce the price and to take off the previous charge for work done ineffectively. One reason for my asking if the plumbers work on commission. While Art is overly polite and respectful, yes ma'am, etc., most of the time it does not appear to be sincere and I am very astute to people's sincerity and behavior. I did not want to believe that I was taken advantage of because of being an older female, but now I am sure that is what happened. The one time I called the office to talk to owner, his answers were rude and brief, like don't bother me lady, we will send Art out again. I used M&R Plumbing almost 30 years ago, upon moving into the area, but am sooooooooo disappointed in the fact that they overcharged me on everything and now I still have no working grill, even though I had it fixed once by someone else and then again by M&R. I know that this name has been changed to Mr. Plumbing (?), but they claim the same owners??? Disappointed and still no working grill even though I paid a pretty penny for Art to fix it. Can't say that I want to use them again as I do not like to feel as though I have been used.
When in an emergency do not call!!!!! They won't call you back!!!!! Called with a toilet over flowing waited almost 2 hours and never recieved a call..... Horrible!!!!!

I usually do not write unfavorable reviews but feel compelled to do so after my experience with this company. A couple of weeks ago, I called them to address a leak in a unit I own. They were unable to positively identify where the issue occurred but stated that it may be due to caulking in a bathroom. I replied that another plumber had been out and thought the caulking may have been the issue as well. Nevertheless, they charged me $330 to do the work. Given the work they performed, I thought the amount was a bit rich but paid anyway. I had to call them again because the caulking did not resolve the issue. I was told the price would be $65 to DIAGNOSE the issue. So they went out again and determined that the refrigerator was leaking and said the fee would be $330 although they did not 1) accurately identify the issue during the first visit and 2) did not FIX anything; they only DIAGNOSED! So somehow the fee went from $65 to $330 to DIAGNOSE! Upon talking with the owner, he suggested that they spent the whole day assisting me when in fact it was no more than two hours (which, given the inflated fees, may have been exaggerated as well). I would have been happy to pay the $65, but expecting $330 for performing no work is ridiculous. So in all, they expected me to pay $660 to diagnose and caulk around a bathtub. This is not and will never be unacceptable and is very disappointing. Please use caution when doing business with them.
This sure is one place I will not be calling again. I was quoted approx. $250 on the phone for the job of installing a new laundry sink. (my sink and my faucet) After taking 3 full hours (yes!!) to install the sink, I was charged $550.00!! I could have done it myself in that amount of time, and believe me, I am not a plumber. But then..........obviously neither was he.. Rip off.
Great job! Art was professional and took the time to explain the intricacies of our plumbing system. Hope I don't need their services again, but will definitely be using them if I do.
Small plumbing project at my buddies. Started with cheap ass crap from Menards and True Value. I am not a plumber by trade nor do I play one on TV.
I was unhappy with the progress and the fit of the previous pieces so I wandered into M/r Plumbing on a whim. I immediately came clean with my lack of skill concerning pipes. The guy at the counter was very helpful, he explained how, why, and how much. Guess what it cost half of what the True Value parts were. Forget about the Menards shit, one size fits all is a damn lie I say, a lie!
The new drain pipe went in much easier, fit much better and it wasn't leaking when I left.
Thanks to the great counter service at M/R.
They also contract bathroom and kitchen remodeling, judging from the photo's and customer appreciation, they go the extra mile.

I was a new customer but will NOT be a returning customer. I contacted M & R due to a water heater that would not light. I called after hours on a Mon night and scheduled service for the following morning. I questioned and was quoted the service fee price which was very reasonable and understood would not include any parts or additional labor. The service tech was there by 11am the next morning and I was really getting a good feeling about these guys. That is until 20 min later when the work was completed and the fee was 1 1/2 MORE than the price I was quoted over the phone. A safetty switch had been triggered due to overheating and needed to be reset. No additional parts, no intensive diagnostics done (I couldnt miss work and I had to leave my mother and 20yr old daughter in charge--which I cant complain they didnt ask questions because I had no other choice). I was in complete sticker shock--the service fee doubled would have been a reasonable fee to me, but 1 and a half times the quoted price? And then the upsell started...I was told several times my water heater was 7,8 yrs old( even though I had mentioned when placing the call for service that said water heater had been replaced within the last 2-3yrs through my home warranty that was in effect at the time) and the service tech continued to state he could only go by how old the manufacturing date noted on the water heater and it showed 2007. So either the previous service professional pulled the wool over my eyes or I was being mislead by M & R.
I am a single mom of 5 kids, I live in Blue Island and my home may not be fancy and maybe he jumped to the conclusion that I would not know any better. I called M & R the same day and spoke to Bob and asked for a breakdown of the fees and how they are charged--I was told the service tech would not have completed any work without first giving the quote. My mother stated he came up with the invoice and the work of resetting the switch already completed. I can only assume because once he knew that if he provided the diagnosis of the switch merely needing to be reset, that there was no way we would give the ok to complete the flipping of said switch at one and half times the original quoted service fee.
I read the same YELP reviews, looked M & R up on Angie's List and I truly expected to be treated fairly at a reasonable price. Sadly I was extremely disappointed and this will not be the only venue I will vent my frustration. I tried the old-fashioned way of communicating directly with the company, but they did not see anything wrong with the way this service call was handled.
Customer service was very professional and prompt. Had my faucet and furnace crap out in me in the same week and I was able to get both situations taken care of right away. Jeff the plumber took care of my faucet and was very Profesional and friendly. The next day Charles came and replaced my motor in my furnace. He was also very professional and honest. In a time where most furnace places wanna deny repairs and dig into your pockets for a new replacement, he looked over everything and fixed the problem. I appreciate the honesty. I absolutely will use them in the future and reccomend them to anyone.

Called them based on other reviews. Had a leak from the pipe coming into the house. Ginny came out early the next day. Very professional and reasonable price.
Jeff recently installed a new hot water heater for me. He did a good job and is a great plumber. I have had several plumbing jobs done by MR. All of the plumbers are first class professional plumbers. I would not use anyone else.
My kitchen sink was leaking. I called to make an apt and they were able to send someone out the same day. Simion was great! He explained everything to me and fixed the sink. I also asked him to look at the dishwasher and a toilet that wasn't working. He made sure everything worked properly. I will definitely call this company again, they are very nice people to deal with.

Now I know no one likes to call a plumber, but if you have to, these guys were outstanding. I had a clogged kitchen drain and they had someone out within 2 hrs. Mark in the office was great to work with and the plumber he sent out (Nick) was outstanding. The entire operation was very well run, organized and professional. While I was talking with Nick, I mentioned I may be looking at a new sink and mentioned Menards and Lowes, he informed me they have a showroom and to stop over there first. If they run that any where close to the repair business, I will but my new sink and faucet from them without hesitation. If you need a plumber, call these guys.
After being screwed over by a different local plumber who never showed up, I called M&R to come look at a pipe under my sink that was leaking.... M&R went above and beyond calling my tenant to set up a time to come look at the pipe... they came out the same day, looked at it, and called me with a price before they went ahead and fixed it... nothing but top notch professionalism from all angles... being a business owner myself, I appreciate this kind of service more than ever. Thank you M&R!

So far very nice and took the fact I am in need of a sink for my 4th of July party! Have not got the work done yet but will up date.
i had some issues with my plumbing and i gave m&r Plumbing a call. they literally showed up to my house within 30 minutes which was extremely fast. the plumber that came out seemed to know a lot. so there was no issues as far as that. there was only one problem i encountered with these guys, i had an iphone missing. i thought it was an honest mistake thinking i would get it returned or something since he had the same phone. and i never received a call or anything. so as far as plumbing issues, i would trust them. just hide your belongings before they show up.
