Joe and his team did an amazing job with a comprehensive renovation of the entire first floor of our condo, including the kitchen, all flooring, lighting, fireplace, pantry and half bath.

The quality of the work performed and value provided was top notch. It was very apparent that all of Joe's employees take a great deal of pride in their work and I felt that they genuinely cared about doing great work for my family.

We couldn't be happier with the result and we look forward to working with Joe and team on several other big projects around our condo. Most highly recommended.

Got a referral from a woman on Next Door. Just needed a door stop installed on my buildings front door. Sounds simple but it's a condo building and I did not want to screw it up. He came exactly when he promised and did an excellent job. I would totally use him again next time I have a need.

Joe does top notch work and can fix just about anything.  He also works very quickly as well.  However, his rates are insanely high.  I was charged 165 an hour which is mind boggling.

Great handyman work. I called morning of and Joe was able to come out a few hours later. Fixed multiple issues from electrical, plumbing and misc items I didn't want to do. Very knowledgeable in all areas and I would highly recommend.

The only regret was I didn't call sooner!

Joe does great work.  We have used him multiple times to hang up pictures for us, build our baby furniture, fix cabinets, build dressers, hang up a medicine cabinet.

Highly recommended.

Second time using Joe.  He fixed a ceiling fan, bathroom exhaust fan and clogged refrigerator drain.  All were done well and in what I considered to be very little time.  Will definitely use again.  Cheers!

Joe has done a number of handyman jobs for my old and new condo from installing track lights, under cabinet lights, and fixing electrical, to installing shelving.

He is very dependable.  Very honest, and you can count on him.

I highly recommend him.

We needed a handyman to complete some repairs for our mother's Gold Coast/Near North condominium following an pre-sale home inspection.  The buyer asked for repairs by a licensed contractor and an invoice to verify the repairs had been completed.  After searching high and low we selected Joe because of his location and the rave reviews he received.  Those reviews are well deserved and now he has ours as well.

Just needed some simple electrical work and an assessment for possible other work.  Joe was able to make room in his schedule to meet our immediate needs.  We worked out the details of the work plan in advance by phone (I'm in California) and he executed the plan to perfection.  He called me when he completed his assessment, we agreed on the work to be done, he got the necessary materials, completed the work and then called me with the details and sent me photos and an electronic invoice which I paid for using Chase EasyPay.  When I needed some followup from another trade, he was able to refer me to someone.

We could not be more pleased and would recommend Joe highly.

Joe is a fine handyman and did a fine job. However, he charges an insanely high rate. I feel like you can get the same work done for MUCH less of a price. Not to mention the clock did not stop running when he had to go back and forth to his truck from my 34th floor apartment for things he forgot. If you don't mind spending 200+ bucks for a simple fix, then Joe is your guy.

I needed a new fan installed in each of my two bathrooms in my condo.  I liked the service Joe provided when repairing a broken lock (from essentially a break-in) and so I thought I'd give him a call again.  He was able to help me understand that completely replacing the fans in my bathrooms would be a very time-consuming undertaking that would also require significant manual labor that included replacing some of the ceiling after he ripped the old fans out.  I was a little disheartened at his assessment of the situation because I had already purchased new fans to be installed.  Joe did tell me that the cheaper, and easier option would be to replace the motors in the old fans and get them running in just a couple hours.  Long story short, he replaced the motors and got the fans working again.  If that was the end of the story, he would have a 5 star rating.

I'll admit that Joe is able to fix just about anything.  I've had good success with his work, although he does charge $90/hour for labor.  (Which knocked his rating down one star.) But during the last visit to fix my bathroom fans, he was quick to identify a number of other things he could fix in my condo if I let him.  I let him fix a few other things but realize now that I paid for it, literally.  I take the blame for not keeping him focused on what I originally called him to fix, the bathroom fans, because at the end of it all I ended up paying for the time he spent talking with me and tinkering with silly things that didn't really need to be addressed on this visit.

The other part of the service call that was frustrating is that he needed to leave my place to pick up some parts at a local hardware store.  He called ahead and said the store had what he needed so he left to pick them up.  Upon his return, about 45 minutes later, he did not have the parts he needed and said he would have to come back another day to finish the job.  Not that big of a deal.  The real issue is that not only did Joe expect me to pay him for the time he spent in the car driving to get parts that he didn't bring back, the job was going to span two separate days AND he wanted to charge me a $40 service call fee for both trips.  I was taken back by this because not only did the estimated 3 hour job unfold into over 4 hours, it spanned two days and I was being charged for him to drive around in his car.  I did not take very fondly to this and made sure to tell Joe.  He ultimately 'waived' the second service call fee that he shouldn't have charged me and completed the job on a day about two weeks later.  (Minus a second star because I had to unnecessarily argue my case and win.)

When he left my place after the first visit, he did NOT clean up after himself and I found myself sweeping and cleaning up his work mess.  If he was coming back the next day, it wouldn't have been a problem but when he left he said, I'll call you when the parts come in a we can schedule another appointment.  Thanks buddy but next time, please clean up after yourself.  (Minus another star.)

I don't enjoy arguing with service people because they know infinitely more about what they are doing than me.  I understand it's a business and they need to make money, which is why I call for their help for fix things and defer to their expertise in all cases.  Will Joe the Handyman get the job done?  Yes.  Will he do quality work?  Most likely.  Will he clean up after himself?  Not consistently.  Will he charge you for a service call and $90/hour?  Yes.  Will I call him again?  Only if other handyman services fail me.  Sorry, Joe.

Joe swapped out light switches on a very complicated job that we could not figure out. He gave a call about 15 minutes out to confirm his arrival time, showed up on time and hustled to get the job done. He was also super pleasant to speak with, I enjoyed having him in our home and will absolutely bring him out for additional jobs.

I've used Joe for multiple jobs of varying complexity. The last job he hung curtain rods, trued up my misfitting doors, and diagnosed my dripping faucet as a job requiring a new fixture. He also remade a door handle that he just noticed needed fixing. In earlier jobs, Joe hung valuable stained glass and secured a heavy mirror to the wall, making sure it was embedded in studs. He also installed an antique light fixture. Joe is prompt and polite. When he trued my doors (which created a fairly large mess) he cautioned in advance about the wood chips. I just vacuumed up as he went. Some people here gripe about the cost, but I think they underestimate the value he delivers.

Joe is great! I called him to diagnose a problem with my  bathroom vent fan, install a new kitchen faucet, and repair my dishwasher mounting. He was very polite and professional, and completed all 3 projects efficiently.

Afterwards, he threw in a few tips on appliance maintenance and showed me how to reduce noise from my steam radiators.

In the past I have used another, more expensive handyman service in the neighborhood. Joe's prices were better and he's just as knowledgeable. I'll be sticking with him from now on.

Joe has helped me out on numerous occasions over the last several years.

It seems like he is able to fix anything!!  I have had plumbing, electrical, hardware problems.....you name it.  He has always fixed it pronto.

Joe answers his own phone, and always shows up the same day altho it sounds like he is always fully booked.  Amazing.

Strongly recommended.

Joe is not the 'cheapest' handyman service in the world. But in many cases 'you get what you pay for'. Joe is courteous, honest and does great work. As I know little about home maintenance, it's great to have a service like this in the neighborhood.

Great handyman!! On time, polite, honest and very quickly fixed an electrical problem we were having with a 3 way digital light switch.  Fantastic service!!!!

Note - Service was performed in 2007.  However it was a great experience and worthy of a review.

I highly recommend Joe's Handyman Service. Its true his services don't come cheap but you get what you pay for, a well done job.  We had him unclog a problem drain in our shower and he was sure to call to let me know that he was running a few minutes later than scheduled. Along with unplugging our drain (which was a bigger job that first expected) he also fixed a dripper main water shut off in our closet and a drippy faucet. He is careful to explain what he is doing and is scrupulous about explaining what all the charges are for. Last fall, he came to our place for the first time to fix our steam radiators and saved us from a leaky valve and our fight with roasting the entire winter long. We will be calling Joe again next time we have a electrical, heating or plumbing problem.

I was happy with Joe's work. I called him on a Saturday and he called back immediately. I scheduled an appointment for Monday in the afternoon and he was on time. He fixed my dishwasher and gave me some useful tips on future use. He also checked my garbage disposal, easily fixed a leak underneath my kitchen sink. Then, on my request, took a look at two running toilets and diagnosed the problem immediately. He purchased new parts for the tank and easily installed them. The toilets don't run anymore and the seals in the tank are complete. My water bills should be much lower now. Joe was very knowledgeable, professional and friendly. I was surprised to read the other review that stated Joe didn't clean up after himself. I found Joe did immaculate work, cleaned up after the jobs were finished and came prepared to remove his shoes before walking into my home. He had two loafers with coverings at the ready and slipped those on before entering. The price may be a little high - 45 fee - 95 per hour. But, I have to admit, Joe was able to squeeze A LOT of work into those two hours. I would highly recommend Joe and would certainly use him again.
