ABOUT BUSINESS OWNER

For John Milavec, running a repair service came naturally to him. His father started a repair business in 1976, and was a fixture in the St. Patrick's neighborhood of Joliet, repairing and maintaining the appliances, heating units and plumbing fixtures in many of the historical homes in the area. In fact, he was known as the go-to guy, when it came to keeping the the old boilers running. Not always an easy job. When John Senior retired in 2003, John took over the business and moved it to his home in Plainfield. While John continues to work on older homes and can still keep those old boilers running, he constantly upgrades his skills with continuing education, and is up to date on all of the latest technologies in HVAC, electrical and plumbing. He prides himself on getting the job done, doing it as quickly as possible and doing it right so that the equipment functions as it should without further problems.

In a recent phone call home, my mother mentioned to me that her dryer had died on her, thus requiring her to go to a laundromat. I did some research on this (price to repair vs. buy a new one, namely) and decided that the best course of action was to hire someone to come out and take a look at it and hopefully repair it.
I reached out to a few companies on Yelp, but ultimately landed on J&J Repair. The man I spoke with on the phone was incredibly nice and was able to come out the very next day to take care of things. He also offered a reasonable price that included his service fee, labor, and the parts needed for the repair.
The repairman just left my mom's house and was able to get the job done quickly and efficiently. His quote was accurate and there were no sneaky fees. As an added bonus, he was able to accept payment via credit card. The dryer is once again in working order thanks to the fine folks at J&J Repair! My mother has even lined up an appointment to have her garbage disposal looked at in a few weeks. This was a great experience and we look forward to doing business with them in the future.

Very responsive, professional, and fair with pricing. My ignitor went out on my oven and he fixed it within a half hour. He was on time and even called on his way over to let me know. Highly recommend!

J, couldn't fix my Whirlpool Dishwasher, citing a computer issue, but didn't charge me and pointed me toward another repair guy skilled in that line. I insisted he take $20 for gas money.

I ended up buying a new dishwasher from Home Depot (sale) and a 5 year warranty

Based on reviews I had picked him to repair my refrigerator he charged lot of money to repair it and within a year the refrigerator died it is a nightmare when your fridge stops working in 90* weather I tried calling him left a message not even a courtesy to return phone call , will never use him nor recommend him to any one
If you get work done by him it won't last long looks like he uses used part not genuine at all. Very disappointed.

Had to call John for a dryer problem.

I have used this company on multiple occasions! They are professional, timely, and very thorough. They explain the repairs and give accurate estimates early on. They respond quickly to messages as well. Highly recommend if you need repairs or HVAC help.

Stop your search, John is your guy!

I am an out of state landlord and had a very crabby tenant with a water leak and washer issue in Bolingbrook and two competitors wouldn't even take my call because I was out of state.

I called J&J Repair and spoke to John who assured me that he could help. He was friendly, professional and bent over backwards to move his schedule around to accommodate my tenant. He told me he'd call me if the repair exceeded the cost of buying a new washer which I appreciated. Turns out he was able to fix everything same day for a very reasonable price. On our original call I had asked him to please email me a copy of the invoice which he promptly sent the following day. A+ transaction all the way around.

Called yesterday to schedule appointment. Was told to text information and would be out Thursday and text back quote. Did not receive information back so called this morning to make sure recieved text. Owner said did not have time to reply and will not have time to repair. Very unreliable and now I have lost a day and need to start all over again.

I saw J n J reviews on Yelp and decided to call. I called on Sunday night, and John returned my call early Monday morning to let me know he'd be here the next day between 10-11am. John arrived at 9:15. That was great cause he freed my day up. His advice and professionalism were well worth the price of my time. I will use JnJ Repair next time I need any type of repair. Called John at 8:00 about air not working. He was here at 10:30 and the repair was done by11:00. Took the time to wash out the unit and advised us on how to make it work more efficiently. Very friendly and honest. Will definitely use him the next time. Excellent experience and am very satisfied. It's nice to find good honest people in the repair business

We had our refrigerator stop cooling.

I looked at GE's website for a service call and it would have been 4 days to get a repair. I called J&J at 7:30am and John scheduled it for that day at 10am! He showed up on time (with only an hour window of time instead of the usual 4!) and, after diagnosing the problem (and defrosting the freezer), had it repaired in less than 2 hours.

Very professional and friendly. No bs, no run around. Just good old fashion service.

We are new to the area and have had J and J out several times. He is always great. Usually responds right away and is in and out with repairs. He saved us tons of money from a false estimate from a much larger company. He is out now go to guy, nothing is getting repaired until he checks it out.

He showed up on short notice-same day he came for the repair of my inducer motor on my heater. Was happy with punctuality and he had the part in stock which was very convenient.

Only down side was the pricing. After looking up the parts online, there was a significant up-charge. Charging me around $300 for a $150 inducer motor assembly, and $65 for a $20 igniter. But I guess that's the price for convenience and knowledgable installation.

Would have liked a little lower price but still satisfied. Thanks.

Emergency! Dryer went out on xmas day. Kids had gotten new clothes & of course were demanding that they were washed b4 wearing them! Enter John. A phone call placed the next day, was promptly returned within 30 mins. Showed up later in the day. Very friendly & job completed in 20 mins. Reasonable prices. Do recommend. Hes your guy. Our AC went out soon after buying our home in the summer of 2016. We remembered seeing a J & J sticker on our washer so we decided to give him a call. John was there the same day to fix it. He also cleaned it for us without even asking. When we had an issue yesterday with our wiring, he was the first to come to mind after having such a great experience previously. He was able to get out to us the next morning and fixed our problem. John has made us happy once again! We really appreciate that John takes the time to explain what the issue is and his rates are fair. I had a problem with a bathroom fan and based on reviews called John for assistance. He was slightly condescending on the phone but I gave him the benefit of the doubt (again based on reviews). John came as scheduled and quickly diagnosed and repaired the problem. He did make a rude comment that my husband should never again work on my home or car which was completely uncalled for and off base. More of a problem to me was his lack of clean up. I have never had a contractor or handyman not at least partially clean up the debris caused by the work they completed. This was a quick house call (less than 1 hour) and was $185. I do not think an attempt at clean up would have been too much to ask. At the end of the day, the work is done so I'll give 3 stars but would not call this business again or recommend them to a friend.

Nice service call. I work nights so, it's very difficult to get anything done. My dryer wasn't heating so, I called and talked to John. He said that he could come out Monday and I told him that was difficult because of my schedule. He said that he could come out Saturday between 11:00 and noon ( I called at 5:00 P.M. Friday) He replaced the igniter. Problem solved. Thanks for the prompt service!

After a brief online review of appliance repair businesses in the area I chose J&J because their outstanding reviews. I was not disappointed. I called and John came the next morning and repaired our dryer which would rotate, but not heat. He fixed the problem within a few minutes and the cost was very reasonable. I highly recommend J&J.

i found J&J here and was impressed by their reviews after the other place I called didn't show when expected. Called them and someone showed up immediately, found the problem, repaired, tested, and told us what we should be doing to maintain it. From the time we called until the time he left was under an hour. I was happy with the price of the repair as the other company would have charged me nearly $100 just to show up. I plan on calling them again to inspect our furnace before this winter.

Recently used J&J repair for some electrical repair that was needed. We wanted to get a couple quotes so we called J&J repair and a bigger type company, technician came out from the bigger company and quoted us an outrageous price, and couldn't fix problem until the next day. J&J repair came out gave us a much different price and fixed the problem within 20 minutes. We are very happy with the price we were charged and with the type of service we received, definitely will use J&J again!! Thank You John!

These reviews were too good to be true so I tried J&J . Now, I have to join the Greek Chorus singing his praises. Called John on Tuesday after Labor Day. He came Thursday on time early in the window he gave. He was quick, efficient, competent, helpful, personable, etc. He even insisted that I keep my music playing as he also liked Roy Orbison. The job was DW installation of a new Bosch Ascenta. I have to admit that he did look at the installation instructions, but it was cursory just to reassure himself. He services many products which have numerous makes and models. We would call him again in a Plainfield minute for any job in his repertoire. I'm a fan now, not a doubter. If I still were, he'd fix my fan anyway. BTW, his cost was reasonable and competitive but his effort is exceptional.
