My water quit while in the middle of a laundry run on a Saturday-because nothing ever breaks on a weekday on working hours...... I contacted the 800 contact number (from Google) and they promptly answered, gave me a time window, and provided me with the technician's name.

Dallas (4005) arrived well within the time frame they told me he would. He introduced himself and took a look after hearing what had happened. He diagnosed the problem easily and provided me with an estimate within a few minutes after assessing the need for parts. The estimate was well within what I had in mind (after researching on the web for similar repair costs in the area).

Dallas is very professional and highly knowledgeable about his craft. He explained in detail what he was doing and went to work. His repair was solid and water was restored!

I cannot say nicer things about this young man and his thoroughness in his work. Roto Rooter was also very good with the scheduling and keeping me up to date as to when Dallas would arrive, etc.

I would definitely recommend Roto Rooter and in particular, Dallas, for any plumbing repairs or other plumbing work (he also alerted me to a possible future part replacement in my water system- I will definitely ask for him when the time comes!).

Thank you Roto Rooter and Dallas!!

So, the pleasant job done by Mr. Shine failed the inspection. The gentleman inspector explained a lot of things that went over my head. But the gist of his findings was the red and blue had to go.

Nearing a week after the inspection I hadn't received a call to schedule the fix so I called and was able to schedule for the following day or day after. I took time off work but was stood up. I called to reschedule to that Saturday no problem.

Saturday, Mr. Guy showed and made the repairs. He hadn't received the inspection report so he worked based on my limited understanding of the red and blue were wrong. The inspector was looking for regular PVC piping. Mr. Guy was able to change a red and a blue pipe with materials he had on hand. He left the valve red piping advising he didn't think he needed to change it. I didn't know any better so I allowed it and figured when they get the inspection report and find it wrong they'd let me know. He even sent a picture to his manager to be sure it was fine. But Mr. Guy, like Mr. Shine was nice.

Today we had the follow up inspection and it failed because of the last red piping. Now I need to rush to get it fixed and inspected again before next week. The inspector allowed me to see the code that the red piping was violating. I took pictures. It's not supposed to be insert-fitting like it is.

Our toilets, showers, and tubs were backed up and this was on a Sunday. After I called I got a call from the company who explained the process and that someone was working in our area and it could be up to 2 hours.  I okayed that and got a text message 5-10 minutes later and replied Yes to accept the service. Then I got another text about 15 minutes later from the Service Technician saying he will be here in about an hour. After that text he arrived about 20 minutes later introduced himself and I showed him the problem.

His name is Mr. Galu - I hope I spelled it correctly.  My first impression was he is friendly, clean-cut, professional, courteous, competent, and wearing a mask.  He went to the front of the house to look at the round pipe above the ground and saw bush roots around it.  He cut the bush and roots, okay by me and I helped, and then got an electric snake to go down the pipe and reversed it out. This cleared out everything blocking the pipe and all was back to normal again.

He asked if we had a dog and if we bathe the dog in the tub which we do. He saw a lot of dog hair and most likely was the problem after 12 years of baths. More good news! He recommended Roto-Rooter Preventative Pipe Shield Maintenance Treatment - 1 Gallon - good for at least 64 treatments and will last a year.  I definitely want something like this. He had some with him and had it added to the invoice.  He explained and showed me how to mix it with water, when and how to do. It is only once a month.  The next day I purchased a screen to place over the tub opening to keep any dog hair from going down the drain again.

I am completely satisfied and highly recommend Roto-Rooter and especially our Service Technician Mr. Galu as he is the best and would like to give him Special Thanks And Recognition (STAR)  - Thank you.

The ridiculous quote from Brian caves of $7400 to run a PVC pipe from the meter to the house was laughable! This company was trying to get people when they are in a desperate time. My driveway was getting replaced and after the concrete was removed we found out the pipe was rusted through in a couple places and leaking. Concrete was coming in a couple days and Brian was trying to take advantage of that! I called bill fenwick plumbing and they came out the next day for $2200! The moral of the story is don't use the ripoff roto rooter use anyone else, fenwick did a great job! Brian actually said he was giving me a $2600 discount,  lmfao... stay away!

I am the Contracts Manager for a Government subcontractor on NAS Jacksonville.  First, let me say I reached out to Roto Rooter Management to have a conversation about our experience a week ago today and I have received no communication back from Roto Rooter.  I even reached out to their Customer Service Manager to no avail.  When management doesn't care, it shows through to the customer service.  We had a plumbing backup at one of the government buildings.  We called RR out three times for assistance.  After each visit, RR internally schedules a excavation team to come out and make sure they got all of the issue resolved.  This is an awesome practice if it is communicated to the customer.  The third day I called RR to have a plumbing crew come back out, I was told that I needed to speak with a manager.  I asked why I needed to speak with a manager, and no one could provide an answer.  I was told a manager would call me back within 1 hour, so I waited.  An hour passed, two hours passed and no call.  I called RR back and was told the same thing, but I wouldn't just go away so they transferred me from Customer Service to Dispatch.  Let me note here that they are famous for transferring you to another person with no warning.  The person transferring you hasn't told the other person they are transferring you to anything, so you have to start all over with what's going on.  That's definitely poor customer service!  Once I got transferred to the dispatcher, I was frustrated because it made no sense that I had to go through so much to get a plumbing crew to come back out.  The dispatcher that I spoke with was rude and loud and his manager heard him and investigated.  That's the only way I was able to speak with a manager because they continued to tell me that there was not a manager available that I could speak with.  Speaking with the night ops manager is where I gained clarity regarding what was going on.  He told me that I needed to speak with a manager to get an excavation crew.  But I never once asked for an excavation crew.  Never once did the word excavation come out of my mouth.  The manager said, Oh, we can get you a plumbing crew out right away.  Finally, after asking for help for over 3 hours at this point, I got someone to listen to what we needed and send a crew.  The CSR and Dispatcher were going by whatever they had put in their system regarding the excavation that we never asked for and they refused to listen to our needs.  As a professional and a manager, it is imperative that I listen to understand and comprehend the issue before I start running my mouth.  I wish someone within RR would take heed to this lesson.  After this experience, I would never use RR personally or professionally again and I certainly would never refer a headache to anyone.  Learn from my headache and find a plumbing company that not only listens to your needs but one that when there is a problem and you reach out for assistance from their management team, their management team reaches back.

After my wife and I moved into our new house there was a lot wrong with the plumbing. After calling a few other contractors and getting what amounted to circular answers, K-Lee came later in the day from RR and was able to help us troubleshoot. Before she left we had it all sorted out and she gave us plenty of useful tips that have spared us lots of headaches. It took less than an hour, which was very impressive as the builders had basically put everything in backwards. Thanks K-Lee and Roto-Rooter! Shout out to Ross for showing up after another job he had down the road to help out.

Don't waist your time or money.  This is the worst company ever. My time window was from 6 to 10.  No call no show. Took off early from work to accommodate the time an still no response.  Worse experience ever. Dispatcher was incompetent along with all the other people I contacted.  DO NOT WAIST YOUR TIME OR MONEY!!!

Face it, no one wants to deal with a plumbing problem, especially when you wait too long to call a professional and everything starts backing up in your house. Recently we had company visiting and the toilets started bubbling when someone was showering, or the washing machine was running, then the smell coming from the shower drain was the final straw that something needed to be done immediately. We called Roto-Rooter and the next day, Nate, technician 2815, came to our rescue.

Initially they quoted the flat rate price of a about $345 which sounded like a reasonable price to do the dirty work of cleaning the pipes. However, once they found the problem was our outside drainage pipes were completely clogged up with roots even causing a break in the pipe that would require excavation, replacement of pipe, and covering back up, the price jumped to $1650. Expensive, but after the technician showed me the clear video proof of the camera (kind of like a colonoscopy of your plumbing) trying to go through my pipes and the root obstruction, I had no doubt that it needed to be done. At least this price was instead of the $345 not on top of it. I wish I had seen the $40 off coupon on the website though, at least I could have saved a couple of bucks.

Nate quickly worked to dig up the pipe, identify the entry point of the mother root, cut, removed and replaced the pipe and was done in just a couple of hours. He was especially professional in showing me what he was doing along the way and cleaning up after himself. He never even had to come inside the house, which I was silently grateful for because this work is definitely dirty work especially in the hot Florida summers. We would not have been able to complete this job with your average handyman. What I appreciate most about using a reputable company like Roto Rooter is the warranty. If the problem comes up again, or any plumbing issue for that matter, I will certainly be calling them again.

If there were negative stars, I would have chosen -5. This company promised service in less than two hours. No one showed. When I called, they couldn't give me an approximate ETA and the dispatcher had been clearly woken up from sleeping. We scheduled for the next day, they showed up on time and quoted a price of $450 for snaking a house that's under 2300 sq. ft.  We sent away. The cost to snake is about $120. Buyer beware.

horrible service called in for water heater service and they changed the pipes. After they realized that didnt solved the issue and decided that we needed a new heater because changing the valves will possibly damage the water heater so i was told. So i agreed and asked for a new heater but he didnt have one and we have to call for a new service. He than proceeded to charge me 300 for changing the pipes which did not solve the issue. i asked if im letting you install the heater why im getting charged for something that didnt fix the issue. long story short i called the issue in the dispatcher said they can only deduct the 300 if i get a water heater bought inhouse and have installed which was a separate 1752. 1452 will be my total for only then are they willing to deduct the cost of th previous work. I asked what if I got my owb heater and let you guys install can i still get it deducted they declined.  they charged 750 just for installation which was already on the high end because most competitors was charging 430 for installation and 1200 if they supplied the heater. would not use again

*** A+ SERVICE FROM TECHS TO MANAGEMENT. COMPLETE JOB SATISFACTION AND PEACE OF MIND. ***

I've use Roto-Rooter now twice. Both times they got the job done, and I will say both times the service provided on behalf of the technician all the way through higher management has been a breath of fresh air. They truly care, and will take your concerns very seriously.

Since they provide full level service and ensure that your concerns are addressed, let alone taking care of the issue itself, they aren't the cheapest in town. However, if you want the job right, and want it done right the first time with the peace of mind knowing after they left the issue has been resolved - use Roto-Rooter.

Your home is your investment if you're a home owner and your quality of life if you're a renter. Just like you wouldn't take your car to some shady car repair place because they offer the lowest price in town that could mask the problem with a temporary fix, don't trust your home with a shady plumber service.

Roto-Rooter will ensure your problem is fixed - without question. If you have multiple clogs be sure to ask for the multiple clogs discount, as well as any online discounts they have promoting. They often will provide you with the discount even if you aren't aware of it!

***ROTO-ROOTERS HAS MY HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION FOR YOUR HOME SERVICES NEEDS***

This company charged me $225 to do nothing. I have a leak under my kitchen sink. I asked them to fix this and to correct the drain seal in my new sink. The gentleman added the gray putty to my sink and you can see it. He did not trim it or anything. Also, I don't think he did anything with my pipes as I just found a puddle of water under my sink.

I would give them a zero if I could, it's what they deserve for committing fraud. We were quoted verbally 3 different prices all that we were okay with so we signed what we need to for them to perform their services. When we decided we could redo our house for way cheaper and decided to stop before they laid our floors they took almost a month to give us a price and it was 5x the amount we were told it would be. After complaining the company told us the best they could do is give us $200 off. If I could've afforded them going through with the threat they gave me of putting a lien on my house so I could sue them for fraud I would've. I wouldn't recommend this company to even my worse company.

Your company did a dry out of my house in August of 2017 the floor had to be ripped up so therefore the furniture in the master bedroom had to be moved.  The triple dresser in the master bedroom had to be moved for this to be done.  A picture of my oldest son was sitting back of the dresser it was an 18X24 on canvas that they had to have thrown away it
was not trash if it could have been replaced the cost would have been in excess of 500.00.  I'm just now getting the floor re-done and have been able to run across these things.  I'm very upset I don't know what your
company can do to make things right.  Besides that ya'll ruined half of my house I could never recommend anyone to you,  I've used ya'll in the past and have not had any problem until now.

They come out 24/7 for $295 no matter what they do or how long it takes.  Snaked my sink and 30 minutes later it's working again. Yes it's pricey but I paid for convenience, they came after I got off work!

Honestly, if the cost had been under $200 I would give them a 5 star rating.

Do not use this company. Their prices are completely OUTRAGEOUS and there are other more reputable companies to utilize.. Unfortunately this was a last minute call I made and Roto Rooter was the only company that could come out same day.

I had a main line water clog which needed to be snaked.
The tech came out and snaked the drain, simple fix and did mention we had some roots growing through the pipes and quoted $10-15k just to repair.

Just for the snake and fixing the clog, I was charged $355. I said really that much? the tech simply replied yep.. I luckily found a $40 coupon online so my out of pocket was $315.

From speaking with others, $355 is outrageous for a simple snake down the main line with nothing else major being actually repaired.

I called and spoke with Rob who stated $355 is the flat rate fee they charge no matter if they are there for 10 mins.

Beware that you will be charged an arm and a leg without any explanation if you decide to use this company.

Oh Rob did offer to apply the $315 I paid to the $10-$15k repair job due to the confusion...really??

It's after 2 am and I'm now on day 2 with no water. The repipe started yesterday,,,,, yesterday!  I am so very tired and I'm still waiting for them to get done. The technicians are very pleasant and they are trying. But they were not staffed properly for this job. 2 days with no water!  If it were not for the nice plumber I would have rated my experience a 2. I don't know if I should be angry or just cry.

Service was quick, They responded within 90 minutes of my phone call. Job (snake a drain) was performed fast and professionally by courteous techs. They were done inside of a half hour.....

Wow. I should have have checked online for their pricing! Twice that of the competitors. $338 will practically buy a decent power snake, guys.
Not saying RotoRooter doesn't do a great job, just saying they don't do the job twice as good as other plumbers.

As far as the higher ratings, it could be a bit skewed by by the fact that R/R has a weekly raffle for a full refund when you write an online review.

Called Roto Rooter but I wasn't sure whether it was a plumbing problem or Septic system. Answered a series of questions and determined it was probably a line problem. Initially they told me service by 5:00 as it turns out Nate was not far away and sent him over within the hour. Nate had been at our home before of he remembered our previous situation. Went right to work and got the line flowing.
Nate is very conscience about what he is doing, and explains the situation.  I would definitely want Nate to do any future work if possible.

Ok Gang I had to shorten it..I really didnt think you could max out on YELP.COM..LOL..I DID!

Look working with this company was a comedy of Horrors...I had to reach out to Corporate, which does nothing but refer you back to the local.

But, It in a way did Help...I Ended up getting to senior (Or so I was told) Plumbers R & M who took responsibility of what had happen and got my plumbing issue taken care of and concrete put in and everything done to the original proposal and it only took 10 days.

They state they are going to refund half my money because I am not out to screw them because they did do WORK a total of 8 hours which still comes out to about $50hr Down from the original $400 an hr.

We are near the end of the week and I must say I have lowered my expectations and will probably have to call and remind them to send the refund. It is just the way it has been.

If you call them and it is working out to more than $65 an hour including Parts and labor you may want to call around and get another estimate.

The original Quote for running a Snake went from $385 down to $180 to nothing because he could not clear the clog but did requesta  camera to find the clog and charged me after doing the camera $100 for the work and never told me there would be a charge.

Then Provided a well written Proposal that the next plumber S had no clue about and did nothing close to the proposal other than dig the hole.

Then the manager K when I called to complain made it out that I was trying to screw Roto Rooter and get my entire Driveway paved. That was not the case and had he not ASSUMED his tech was honest and forthright and come out to my home as R did he would have been able to determine that the job was a complete mess.

I emailed corporate again and they put me in touch with R who also put me in touch with Master Plumber M who jumped in and fixed my problem. If I could have them 2 each and everytime I would call Roto Rooter again but....

Funny thing is that R is the instructor for Roto Rooter. So S who did the first bungled job was his student?? Way to make your instructor look bad.

Will Update when and if I receive the partial refund check and if by Friday as Promised by R. Passed Friday and still waiting Left R a Message to remind him in case he forgot about me...Did not hear back so Will wait till this coming Friday for the CHECK?
Well the check did not come as promised that Friday but it did come 3 weeks later. Thank you to the Master Plumber (R) for saving what he could. Dont go here gang.

Called and made an appointment for Monday for a  6-10 PM window. I got a call and ask to reschedule. No problem, so it was set for the next day at the same timeframe. Called at 8 PM that next day just to ask when I could expect someone, as I never heard from anyone and just wanted an idea of a timeframe and was told, once again, that a technician wouldn't be able to come out and could I reschedule. I advised that this had already been rescheduled once. They apologized and asked if they could schedule it for another day at another time.  I advised I had a job and that was why I scheduled originally after 6 and I would just take my business elsewhere. I thought they were 24 hours but apparently that's only when they want to be. Highly disappointed and will be taking my business else where!

Maybe their other services are worthwhile, but, if you have a toilet to install, just call HOME DEPOT. I had a 6pm-10pm time frame Monday evening. I only needed an estimate for a toilet install and disposal and their customer service agent I called told me they don't have pricing to give me but the estimates are free. I called Home Depot and they charge, $99/per toilet plus $25 per toilet for disposal- I'm replacing x2 toilets. I had to call (very nice people!) at 9:45pm because I had yet to hear from anyone...they were running behind and said that they couldn't seem me until Midnight. Well, I had work so I rescheduled. Again, this evening, it was approaching the end of my 4hr window and I heard nothing. I called and then the plumber showed-up to tell me the cost for the toilets was going to be $600!! I said, absolutely not and I told him the cost for Home Depot. Again, he tried to negotiate with me- he said, $525, I told him no again, and he comes back and says, $350. I again remind him that not- Home Depot is $250 total for BOTH toilets with disposal. He says, oh well- I tried!....what?.....I don't think they should waste anyone's time with this ordeal if the plumber is just going to NEGOTIATE when they get there. The stars are strictly because the customer service agents were so kind but the plumber's behavior was bizarre...

First, they were late. I almost called to cancel but they finally showed. Second... Over $300 just to unclog a kitchen sink? We have never paid over $120 for other competitors but since this was the top name in Google search, I figured why not.
Thank goodness I asked for an estimate cuz they wouldn't give me a quote over the phone. I told the guy we never pay over $120 and he said well y'all don't have a history with us and I asked what does history have to do with the price? And he replied It doesn't, I was just letting you know. ....Okay. I read they were more slightly expensive than others but not three times the charge, my goodness. No thank you.

I have never had to call a plumber before and I chose Roto-Rooter because I've seen their vehicles around so I decided to give them a call. I called at 3:00 pm and the representative that took my call told me they would be to me by 5:30 pm and they would call me when they were 30 min away. 6 pm came so I called back and they put me through to a dispatcher so I could get an ETA. She was not as friendly & she said You're next on the list so when he finishes he will be on his way to you I asked her if she knew about how long and she said within the hour. He finally arrived at about 8:10 pm. He was very nice and professional. I have no complaints about him. My kitchen sink was draining very slowly, that's the reason for my call. He came in and looked...well glanced under the sink and said it's gonna cost you $338 to snake the drain I WAS SHOCKED! If I would have known it was going to be so expensive for literally 15 min of work I would have called around and went through someone else! But by this time I had waited hours for them to arrive and I needed a kitchen sink so I sucked it up and had to pay it. My husband was very curious and called a friend of his and they just had theirs done by another company for $148! The technician from Roto-Rooter advised by husband that they get commission so I'm sure he charged us too much but Roto-Rooter allows this! The more you know I guess. I only gave this 2 stars because the technician was so polite and professional. But if I ever have another issue I DEFINITELY WILL NOT use Roto-Rooter! Waaaaay to expensive!!! A company that charges hourly is cheaper than them!

Called them for a leaking drain in my tub. They advertised on Google no trip fees and $40 off eith this coupon. Anyway,  came out and charged me $234 for somethings that took him about 30 minutes.  $29 for the part on top of that.  I told him I felt ripped off but needed to stop the leak. He took out one part and put the new one in. That's it!!! He stood in my bedroom looking around to eat up some time. Didn't know I could see him in the mirror. NEVER AGAIN#

We were very pleased at how quickly our emergency was addressed.  The company was called late on a Saturday night and the technician arrived very quickly, stayed until the situation was under control and then arrived early the next morning to continue working.  Alec Oliver was pleasant and knowledgeable. We will definitely use Roto-Rooter again!

I have an undetected  leak in the house, that per city meter it's about 100GL/hour.  I called Roto-Rooter and requested a professional specialized on water leak detection. I was told the cost was $199.00 an hour. I was told that since a listening device is needed , I had to wait 2 days for the technician to come to my house. When the technician arrived he said he couldn't use the leak detector device because the house didn't have a water shutoff valve.  I was so surprised, because even though I'm not knowledgeable, common sense says the water valve needed to be open for the leak to be detected. Actually, I found out later he didn't have the a water leak detector on him. He kept walking around the house and from a room to another. He lied to me from the time he arrived to the time he left my home. I called Roto-Rooter to complain about Mr. Alexander's behavior and they sent another technician, this time with the leak detector device who said that make nonsense to shutoff the water to detect a leak (Like I thought).  Roto-Rooter will never again be in any property I own.  Unfortunately 1 star is lowest score I can give, because 1 start is too high.
UPDATE:
Today I called another company: American Leak Detection. The technician was very knowledgeable and had among his tools a tank of gas which was plugged in a water faucet. Took him 10 minutes to find the leak, which I  could hear the bubble noises under the slab without the ear phone. Roto-Rooter guy want  to send another technician to check the pool because he was 100% sure there was no leak within  the house perimeter so it must be in the yard. Incompetents.

If you need someone to service or inspect your irrigation back-flow system ALEX OLIVER is the best I would recommend.  On-time, friendly, professional, and very particular about his work.  He worked non-stop for us until after dark because of an unexpected previous leak.  Other techs may have gone on home but ALEX stayed with us and saw it through.  We are very thankful for his work today and hope others in the Jacksonville area will be able to read our review and request his services.

Great service. I love that they don't charge extra for weekend calls, which really helps with being able to take care of things during the weekend.

UPDATE: Shortly after my first 1 star review the manager Christina G contacted me. She offered to replace the damaged faucet - not cheap as it is a high end Kohler faucet - and no charge installation. I was able to provide the model information and they ordered the new faucet. A master plumber Paul Rayburn came to my house on a Saturday morning, his day off, and installed the new faucet. He was very nice, professional, and made sure I knew exactly what he was doing through the nearly 2 hour installation. I have a deep under the counter sink so the installation was not easy. I am very pleased with how quickly they responded to the initial poor service and ensured I was fully satisfied with their response to the issues I encountered.
Expensive & Not Responsible for Damage
Had a faucet that went from a drip to a constant light flow of water. Scheduled appt, had to be at work so had 18 yr old son at home. Quoted $299.99 plus parts. Seemed high but couldn't afford water bill for a constantly running faucet. Without mentioning anything more final cost was $299.99 plus $270. 41 for parts. R u kidding - parts almost as much as the labor. Then when I got home I immediately noticed deep scratches in the hot and cold faucet handles (so deep you can see to the base metal). Guess what - and they were quick to point out - as their disclaimer on their paperwork states they are not responsible for any damages as a result of doing the approved work. So after a ridiculous cost of $270.41 for parts, now I live with a damaged faucet or pay 4 X for a new faucet and a plumber to install it.
Buyer Beware!!!!!!!!!

I decided to go with Roto-Rooter because it is a well recognized company and it has been around for 80 years. The company's logo says built on trust, but my experience today with the plumber has completely crushed any form of trust I had with this company.

I contacted Roto-Rooter due to a ceiling leak in the unit below me so I arranged for both my tenant and the unit below to reserve a good chunk of their day for the plumber. The plumber showed up an hour late to the site - the time window was 8 AM - 12 PM and the gentleman came out past 1 PM and arrived unapologetically.

Once the plumber arrived, the tenant texted me saying the plumber has arrived, but he seemed very confused on what was going on, which was confusing for me because everything was discussed with the dispatcher when the appointment was made. I got in contact with the plumber within minutes and he answers with an attitude that could be felt through the phone.

He advises me he is not sure what the issue is with the shower and that he will need to open up the ceiling of the lower unit to find the source of the leak. I tell him I will need to speak with my insurance adjuster. He immediately responds, you have 6 minutes. I was very taken back by what he said, but I reassured him that it will take a few minutes. I called him back and said let's go ahead and proceed. He shoots back and says, Well, I need access to the unit downstairs, to which I tell him that they have been waiting for him. He then proceeded to accuse me of not paying so he demanded a credit card number. Last time I checked, you DO NOT charge for services that hasn't been completed yet! Especially if the fee(s) hasn't been agreed upon. Also, if having the credit card on file was protocol, the dispatcher should have requested it when I made the appointment. Ceiling/roof leaks must be common in Florida so I'm not sure where the internal disconnect was here.

I didn't feel comfortable providing my card so I called Roto-Rooter's office and spoke to Karen, the office manager. I told her what happened and she apologized and asked if I wanted someone else to come out today. I told her I would need to check with my tenant and the unit below because at that point they have been waiting for more than 7 hours. Luckily, they were both very understanding and said it will be fine for them to wait little longer. So, I contacted Karen on the cell number she provided, but no answer. I am very disappointed how a company with such a big/long history hires someone who is so unprofessional. This behavior is unacceptable and I really do hope they spend more time training the plumbers in CUSTOMER SERIVCE.

We received awesome 5 star service/results from Nate Williams from Roto Rooter. We had a broken piece of broken PVC plastic that fell into the drainline during an install. We had other plumbers come out with cheaper estimates, but they all wanted to add on possible hourly charges! Nate came in on time. He was courteous, knowledgeable and professional. He explained their flat rate fees without the hourly charges and he didnt give us any high pressure sales tactics! He was able to match what others quoted us and give us a clear drain line in no time. He showed us on his camera, the obstruction was 30 feet down and he showed us as he fixed it! Nate also educated us on keeping our septic system healthy. I will definitely call on them again and I will specifically  ask for Nate and you should too.

I couldn't believe the service man was there in less than an hour. I was told on the phone that if I did not like the quote I was given, there would be no charge for the service man coming out. He was very professional and when he left, you couldn't even tell he had been there except for the fact that my sinks were draining perfectly. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is that the first price quote was $305, but when I told him I had another quote of $75 per hour, suddenly there was a discount that brought the job down to $195. While the other plumber could have been cheaper, I went ahead with Roto-Rooter since they were already there and the service came with a 6-month guarantee. Maybe this is part of their free quote - the service man is already there, so you go with the higher priced job anyway... not sure. But he did a good job.

My sink was kitchen sink was clogged.  I made an appointment on a Sunday morning in which I was told the technician would be there between 2-6p.  Around 4p, I got an update that it would be closer to 7p.  Around 6, I received another update moving the time to 730 and 15 minutes after that call, I was called back and told the technician was not going to make it to my job due to difficulties in his current job.  So, they moved my call first thing Monday morning.  Alec came to the house and hurt my feelings with a very large price tag, even with a 10% discount from the situation the day before.  If I was able to fix the problem myself, I would have, so I had to move forward a pay this cost.  It was literally, money down the drain.  No fault of the technician of course.  Alec was great and thorough.  He made minimal mess, cleaned after himself and taught me a few things in the process.  He cleared the clog and shared some tips on how to prevent this in the future.  No offense to Alec, but if I never see him again, it would be too soon.  Service was great, but I just don't want to pay that price again.

The service technician Donnie Delacruz was very polite and knowledgeable. He entered my house with booties to protect my hard wood floor. He cleaned up after himself after he worked. Most of all, through his knowledge  he was able to determine what was causing my kitchen sink drainage problem.  He was the 3rd person that came out to fix the kitchen sink. Overall, very happy and satisfied with the service received today

Called at 0200 Sunday morning after water backing up into shower.  Technician was there at 820, about 30 minutes after the call center called to tell me he was on his way.  Super nice, professional. Used 40$ web coupon. Wish I would've seen the yelp $60 check in though! Problem solved and even though it seemed a bit expensive for snaking the outside drain ( my husband had done it but our snake wasn't long enough) the fact that roto rooter showed upon a Sunday with no hidden emergency costs and then offered a 6 month warrantee was worth it!

After reading my previous review, Roto Rooter's management team reviewed my issues and made it right. I partically liked that they admitted their mistake and showed me total respect and concern. I would give their management team, especially Robert Farr,  a rating of 5 stars for handling the situation very professionally.  I gave 3 star rating due to the company's overpricing initially. If I hadn't written the first review I would of been overcharged for a simple job.  Be sure to write reviews on services everyone. Good or bad it helps keep the companies out there honest. Most of them are and like Roto Rooter care about their customers.

I called at 10:30 Friday morning. They said they'd be at my house by 1:15. They were there around 12:30. Michael was the plumber and he was awesome. He explained the entire problem, what I might be looking at in terms of cost, suggested I call the City to see if the real issue stemmed from their side of my property line. I did and they were here within 20 minutes. They confirmed what Michael said and are going to reimburse me for the cost to Roto Rooter. I can't thank them enough for efficiency! And honesty! And for Michael explaining everything!  The best service on from any utility company I've ever experienced. Thank you!!

Wish I could give 0 stars.  Found a leak in my bathroom Saturday night.   Called roto rooter and they said they couldn't send anyone tonight and told us from 8 to 12 tomorrow someone would show up even after explaining we had a slow leak pooling in our floor.  Waited till 11 next day, no phone call, nothing.   Called them and talked to some rude person who said they will show up when they show up.  12 rolled around and still nothing.   Called competitor and they arrived in 30 minutes fixed everything in an hour.  Shouldn't of wasted my time with roto rooter.

Had a problematic slow draining kitchen sink that decided that it was going to be a full on clog.  Being the handyman that I am I decided to snake out the drain myself.  Long story short,  $40 later and 3 hours of effort, my 25 foot snake could not resolve this issue.  Time to call in the professionals.

Called at 10am and Daniel, the Roto Rooter guy was at the door by 11am.  He came in and asked a couple of questions about the line.

He quoted me a flat fee of $285 to snake the line but said there was a $40 off coupon online.  The fee was extremely high but I was desperate.

I agreed to the terms then he went to business on that line.  Turns out when he was done about 45 minutes later, that clog was 40 feet down the line.

Daniel then cleaned up whatever mess he created.  Before he left, he said that Roto Rooter had a product for maintaining the line that had enzymes that attack the grease and soap scum(upsell).  Being very pleased with the work done I went ahead and bought it, $50 but was good for 64 treatments.

Overall great job, fast response, fast service.  I was happy but just a little over $300 lighter in the pocket.   Service is guaranteed for 6 months though, I guess 6 months piece of mind is worth the total cost.

Wish I could've given them ZERO stars. Waited over 5 hours. Had to call twice. Was put on hold multiple times. Was told a tech would contact me within an hour. Hour and a half passed, still no tech. One rep I spoke with while trying to set the appointment was very rude. Tried to tough it out because it was an ER situation. Called a different company, very polite rep, they came within the hour and the job was done. As far as Roto-Rooter.. NEVER AGAIN.

I called when my washing drain line started backing up around 12:45 in the afternoon.  They said no problem, they'd be out by about 2:30.  They called back 15 min later and said they could be there sooner if I was home, so they actually arrived within an hour!  My call was not urgent, but it was still a nice surprise.   Service guys were polite, considerate and did a great job.   Explained that I may actually have a busted pipe and what and where to look if I had another problem.  I'm a woman, but I am handy and I tend to ask a lot of questions so that I can understand things.  Nate did an especially good job of taking the time to clarify and answered every single question I had.   Thanks again!

Hired them to fix a broken shower valve.  Technician turned off main water to house and opened hose bib outside to let water drain out.  He turned main water back on and forgot to turn off the hose.  I found the hose running full bore 16 hours later.  Called the local office and all they did was put me off with the promise of a return phone call until the check cleared.  Once the check cleared they told me that they would refund me $40.  I told them that my water bill would be into the hundreds and they basically told me tough.  I have not elevated it yet but the lack of caring of one of their mistakes is unnerving.  I would stay away from them.

You ever get tired of calling for someone to fix any plumbing problems and first thing they tell you is how much you will be charged just for them showing up!? Well, if this is not news to you it is definitely to me. Going through the phonebook one stormy day coz my toilet tank is draining water Everytime I flushed. Called about 4 plumbing services and all will charged u even before they get to your house. Roto rooter on the other hand cannot tell me how much I will be charged.  I argued for a minute with their operator. The only thing she said to me was I am only going to get charged if the quote they will give me as soon as they have seen the problem and given me the estimate is the amount of the work that is going to get done, with my agreement.  If no work was done and I don't like the price they quote I pay nothing!  There you go!  From then on, I became their loyal customer.  They're the only plumber I'm calling.  Thanks roto rooter!!

Ok 1/25/2016- UPDATE

I just received a call for a customer service rep and the general manger regarding my first review. They were very apologetic about the issue I had with the original call. They listened to my side of the story and offered to do what ever needed to be done to make the problem right. I had already sent our regular plumber to fix the issue, but the fact that they called back and wanted to correct the issue says a lot. I work with many companies and this is not the first time I have run into these type of issues but I can not remember anyone calling back about a review or even when I have called the company to complain. I run a FM company myself and I understand how damaging a bad review can be or word of mouth. Like I said before I'm not opposed to using Rotor Rooter I use them all the time when our techs aren't able to get somewhere. If I ever have the need I will give them another chance. I also appreciate them taking my complaint seriously. I know there have been times I have gotten a negative review about one of my techs and I take it very seriously as well. But I have run into so many companies that do take that stance but get defensive. So thank you to Rotor Rooter for calling back.

Original Post
Ok I had no real problem with pricing, as much as I had a problem with the dishonesty. P.S our regular plumber was out for the day. I sent this company out on 1/23/16 at around 6:30pm to footlocker at the Orange Park mall. They got there on time no problem, I spoke with the technician when he arrived  by phone. The store had a clogged toilet., he said 95 per hr, I agreed and for Saturday night, price was fine. He said there was a broken pipe under the slab and  the floor would have to be dug up and the pipe replaced. The toilet was drained and flushing but couldn't guarantee the work until we fixed the pipe. He told the manger that it was a copper pipe and told me it was a cast iron pipe. When I asked him was this going to be the 95 per hr he said I don't know I have to check  I heard the manager say I clocked you in and you've been here just for the hour. When I checked the charge it was clocked at 2.5 hrs and the price was now 142.00. Now I don't even think that is a crazy price, I've paid more. But the dishonesty was the problem.  Everything he said sounded off to me so first thing Monday I sent out  our regular plumber to inspect. he said there was no broken pipe and  no copper piping period as no one uses copper piping in the South. The issue is I had to relay that wrong information to corporate. I knew it sounded off but I had no other option but to tell them what the tech had said, which is why I sent a different guy that Monday. I did call the main office and tell them and they only charged me the 1 hr and the lady was nice. I told her all the wrong information and told her I had another plumber take a look and I thought they should know for future clients. She was nice not apologetic though, but I hope she does tell the supervisor. Imagine if they bust open someones floor for no reason !  I would sue!  I have used Rotor rooter in other area and they are expensive at times but they do show up and have had no problems. So this isn't a dig at all rotor rooters but this particular tech is very dishonest or not very prepared in his trade. Looks bad either way.

I called Roto-Rooter for service at a rental property I own in Jacksonville. Their technician, Joe Cox #620 came out in a timely manner and provided a very reasonable estimate. He was extremely polite and professional and I was exceptionally pleased. The only reason this is not a 5 star rating is because another tech had to come out the next day (Joe did not have the required part on-hand, which was fine, it was not an emergency). But the tech who followed up initially tried to double the price, he was rude, argumentative with both me and his dispatcher in front of my tenants and generally unprofessional. Which then left me rather sour. However... The reason this is also not a 1 star review is because the entire Roto-Rooter team (starting with Joe, who INSISTED that the second tech honor the original price) really went out of their way to ensure I was a satisfied customer. Their quick follow-up and precise attention to detail really demonstrated to me that they genuinely cared about customer service and doing the right thing. Special thanks to Michelle who also helped me in this process. Their quick and courteous service has EARNED them a loyal customer! Thank you!

I appreciate the courtesy, carefulness and skill of the service and technician.  The visit was scheduled to my convenience, technician called ahead, listened to our concerns, was obviously experienced, got right on the problem and knew what to do in an older (1924) home, then did it.  Major repairs are never cheap; but knowing that a  job is done correctly and charged fairly means a lot, especially following a difficult and expensive experience with another large company re-plumbing the same house not long ago --- and now finding they did not do all or what they said and that I paid for.  Again, thank you !

We had a back up in our sink with dirty water all over our floors and under our cabinet. We scheduled an appointment for the afternoon and was given the time 1-3. They were very communicative and were actually able to come in earlier. We had Daniel Deluca to come and check out our situation. He was very knowledgeable and was able to detect our problem within minutes. An hour later, everything was working normally and we even received a $50 discount! It also came with a 6 month warranty and he offered us some money saving tips so this doesn't happen next time. Overall very satisfied with the professionalism, cost, and service time!

This review is a positive and negative one. I called roto-rooter because my water was, oddly enough, too hot so i thought one of my elements burned out. The service men came out and replaced the lower thermostat  and element stating they were bad. One of the men put his ear up to the water heater after it was replaced and said he didn't hear anything and he wasn't sure it was working. The other man said it's fine. They didn't check to see If the water changed temperatures. He said he was giving me a deal by only charging 300 dollars. Too my àmazement I had no hot water the next day. I called back and had someone comeback the next morning. This was two days after the initial problem. This new technician was amazing. He came in saw the issue and didn't understand why the first technicians did what they did. He said that the top element was worse than the bottom element and he didnt understand how the first tech failed to notice. This new tech was very personable and made it right. He stayed to make sure the water was the correct temperature he also put his ear to the heater and said yep you can hear it. After everything this is a 3 star review. 0 for the first tech. and a 6 for the second. It was a frustrating two days especially not being able to shower. At least in the end it was made right.

I had a clogged kitchen sink. I first called one of Roto Rooter's competitors and they gave me there hourly rate. I then called Roto Rooter of Jacksonville, Florida and they don't provide a rate over the phone. They said let me send out a technician to look at your problem, then they will give you a quote. So I agreed to have them come out. I don't fall for high pressure sales tactics. So a very nice and profession plumber named Mike showed up with an hour. Took a few minutes and informed me it was definitely a clogged line. He then informed me of their flat rate charge. It was significantly higher than the competitor. I advised him that I was going to pass on his services as it was too expensive. I told him what the competitor quoted and he offered to call his boss to see if they can match it. They did. Mike proceeded to  repair the problem and while educating me on best practices on what you shouldn't run down your drain. He was very helpful and finished the job and said that his work will have a 6 month warranty. I would call them again for a quote but will certainly have another quote to fall back on if necessary.

We had a leak around the air conditioner/water heater/washer that 2 other repairmen were unable to locate/fix.  We called Roto Rooter and when the repairman came he took one look and said what the problem was and fixed it. Huge relief!

Service was awful!!! First the guy didn't have the parts needed.  He went to Home Depot stayed an hour. When he came back he spent 5 minutes on my irritation water pipe which burst. He only leveled out the pipe and sat it back on, no glue or primer. He tried to charge us $335.00 for that because he claimed my husband broke the pipe. But my husband crack the pipe while assisting the guy who claimed he could get it off. I disputed the charges because he told us initially he was changing the pipes. He didn't do that. He tried to argue with us and charge a trip charge . I called the corporate office and the guy argued with them also. Bottom line we paid $235.00. That was June 10. On June 21, my irrigation company discovered the same leak while working on my sprinkler system. They had to repair it the right way paid them also. Called corporate again who connected me to the Jax office manager. I'm waiting on a call back about a complete refund. Never had an issue with this company before, out of St Augustine but Jax may be ripoffs.

We had called and made the appointment for the quote on a Sunday night for monday morning.  They kept calling to say they will be later and later until it got to be let's schedule for Tuesday morning!  I did contact a couple of other plumbers that could have come out on that Monday. Finally the techinicain came in and gave me a quote for $295 to snake the drain!!!! The others that I had contacted were $150 cheaper.  The tech said that they had just raised their rates the beginning of the year.  When I told him about the other quotes he went $100 cheaper.  Wonder why he had originally given such a high quote, maybe because it was two young girls at the home???  Very disappointed

We had a major backup on Christmas Eve....2 toilets, 2 showers, and kitchen sink.  YIKES!! Husband was able to mostly clear one toilet & shower to buy us some time but it was still not ok.  We called Roto-Rooter Christmas afternoon... they said someone would be at our house in an hour..... so abt 2 hrs later, a young fella showed up.  Nice guy but didn't seem too knowledgeable.... asked if we had an outside cleanout plug.... we didn't know and he didn't look too hard for it.  He then decided he would have to pull a toilet & go into the drain from inside the house.  At a cost of $435!!!! Fortunately he didn't have all the equipment he needed so he said he would be back the next morning at 11 am... No show/no word by 1 pm so husband called him.  Says he got sent to a diff job but that someone else would be at our house at 1 pm .... NOT!!!!!!!!!! I called the main office & was told they would put me on the top of the list and someone would be there before 2 pm and they would call when he was 30 min out.  Again NOTHING. So I called again and was told that someone was definitely on the way.  Daniel showed up shortly after 3 pm.  He was very knowledgeable, professional, and obviously knew what he was doing.  He found the outside cleanout right away and went to work with the clearing. That alone saved us nearly $200 over the guy that said he would have to go in from inside the house.  Daniel was finished with the job in less than 1 hour and we were very pleased - both with his service & the lesser price.

In summary, Roto-Rooter needs improvement in their dispatch & scheduling to better manage the customer's expectations.  A plumbing disaster is already not too much fun, and then to be strung along with promises of someone will be there in an hour when reality was from our so-called 11 am appointment, we didn't get the work done til nearly 4 pm.  With no communication from their office.  The first technician wasn't that great and would have cost us a lot more money.  We were pleased with the final result but it apparently comes down to which technician you get.
