Top - Notch Plumbing

While working on backyard renovations I discovered a leak coming from my irrigation system. Gordon and one other man (I can't recall his name) were able to come out and diagnose the issue. There was a diagnosis fee (that did not go to the total cost of the job); however, I understand that as it took some time and digging for them to find out what all was going on.

After diagnosing the issue, Gordon walked me through what was going on and gave me different solutions. Gordon was to the point and honest in his assessment and recommendation and I didn't feel pressured at all. I went with the more permanent fix, capping pipes and removing the irrigation/drip system. Gordon and the other guy (so sorry I can't remember his name), were approachable, professional, prompt, polite, and reasonable. They had to lift some turf that I had installed less than a year ago but were meticulous and cautious and it looks as if it wasn't touched at all!

Top-Notch plumbing has been the most efficient and the friendliest plumbers I've ever dealt with. While having plumbing issues is never an enjoyable experience for a homeowner, I walk away from this experience with more knowledge on the plumbing at my property thanks to them. I will definitely recommend Top Notch plumbing to others and will be giving them another call in the event that I need a plumber. Thanks guys!

We have worked with Top-Notch Plumbing in Escondido for many years. We first used them when we had a line leak under the driveway. Gordon's estimate was competitive and solid. These guys are professional, respectful and don't mess around. They get the job done and it's always been excellent. After our first experience with Gordon, we never looked anywhere else. We have a plumbing issue? We call Top Notch Plumbing. They don't play games with the pricing. It is what they quote. They can do this because they are experts in their field and know what things cost. They just installed a new water heater for us with all the code upgrades. It's beautiful and we are very happy. Local business, been around a long time and super professional. Also, very nice guys!

I did some DIY but couldn't get the plumbing portion done right. Called them and they came in and fixed it. Now it's all to code and everything works great. They're fast and responsive, I highly recommend them and will call them again for sure.

We noticed a water leak Sunday night coming from the ceiling in our downstairs family room.  We isolated the source of the leak to the upstairs' shower; although we went sure exactly where along the piping the leak was occurring.  We called Top Notch Plumbing Monday morning and they sent out a crew first thing the next day.  They came right on time and made one relatively small cut into the ceiling and were able to find and fix the leaks without having to dig into tile floor in bathroom.  Gordon and Cameron were done within two hours and for a lot less than I anticipated.   Very pleased

ALERT!  DO NOT use Top Notch Plumbing (Gordon R. Is owner) as the only thing too notch about them is the OVERPRICED shotty work.  We hired Top Notch Plumbing as we received a referral from this group for them.  First of all, when my husband asked them to come and troubleshoot he NEVER mentioned the $140 fee to do so until after arriving at my door.  I asked him if the fee would apply to whatever work I had him do and he said NO!!!!!!  Most professionals disclose this fee before coming and most apply the fee towards repairs if you decide to go with them!!!!!
    NEXT he called my husband and exaggerated the issue at hand so that my husband thought we had an acute emergency.  He proceeds to tell my husband that it will cost us $850 for the repair.  He asked me to go buy a $125 professional grade fan to dry out the area when he could have and should have just pumped it out himself as a plumber.  So, he presents me with a bill for $990 (not including the fan I purchased on my own) & he told me now my kitchen sink, dishwasher and disposal cannot be used and there was about 3 inches of standing water in my sink so we would have to replace the leaking pipe he removed!  He said he would call my husband with the estimate for that portion of the work.
  Gordon called my husband to tell him that replacing the pipe he removed and grading where the pipe was would run $5700.  My husband asked him why he didn't simply replace the portion of pipe he had removed so as to actually not only stop the leak but fix the issue at hand.  He had no valid answer for this.
  Needless to say my hubby told him he had overcharged us and he was going to get other quotes for this work he was suggesting we still needed done.  Bottom line is what Top Notch Plumbing was going to charge us $5700 to do we got a very honest plumber to do for $200 cash.  
  The new honest plumber said he agreed that Top Notch Plumbing did not fully do their job and overcharged us.  He didn't even know that we had already paid over $1000 for the work + fan that he did half assed leaving us with more work to be done.
 PLEASE DO NOT USE TOP NOTCH PLUMBING as they will take advantage and Rob you blind while creating issues that aren't even there so as to get more money from you!!!!!!!!!

Gordon was recommended to us by a few people in the Escondido FB group, we've had him out to our house twice now.  Very honest, reliable, reasonable and nice guy.  He's done some simple snaking to replacing a broken pipe underneath our house in the crawl space.

I have used Top Notch Plumbing to all my plumbing needs. Gordon the owner in itself is top notch no wonder why his company called because is far less than top notch. Outstanding service all the way and he will also include some education for care and prevention.

We were informed that our water pressure was way too high and a pressure regulator was highly recommended.  Gordon quoted us the best price. He and Cameron were here the next day. They also replaced some valves and some piping that had started to leak. We were very happy with his work and will definitely call him again.

Recently bought a house in the area and with it, some plumbing issues. Gordon came out and took a look, in less than an hour he knew what would fix it, and what the cost would be. Appreciated that he was really upfront with my options (repair vs replace) and answered all the questions I had about them. Quick, efficient, and fairly priced.

We have additional work that we'll need done in the future, and when I asked about it, he told me what it would run and what rebates were available if we did the repairs soon, which was super helpful. He seems like a genuinely great guy and really felt like he was not only paying attention and addressing my concerns, but providing additional information so I had a better idea of what was needed. Spent quite a lot of money towards these guys.. wish I had gone with someone else.  They did a good job but price seemed steep and we had some big issues with his customer service. Maybe I caught the guy on a bad day or something but he was aggressive and combative, especially with my tenant.  He tried to pin the blame on her and her infant son.  They had used the jacuzzi tub only about 2 times.. while talking to him she said once or twice and then later in the conversation said just a few times, so he got aggressive with her and then told me she can't keep her story straight.  My tenant gets along with everyone but sent me a huge text about how mean he was towards her. I can't have that, switched to a different plumber from vista.

Gordon came out and changed out the toilet water talk parts to fix a leak and the old water intake valve in a jiff. He wore a mask and everything. He was able to quote prior to coming out when I sent him pictures. He was on time. Overall happy with it.

This was the easiest transaction with the best service I've had in a long time. Called Gordon and he answered right away. Communicates well over the phone and was easy to set an appointment with. Came out the next morning and arrived 5 minutes early. Introduced himself, gave me a quick rundown of what he was going to do, and got right to work. Was in and out in about 30 minutes. Left the entire area clean when completed. Quality work and very fair pricing. I love supporting small bsuinesses and good, honest people like this. I had a great experience with Gordon and Top - Notch Plumbing at my daughter's house in Escondido.  He was quick to respond, his pricing was reasonable and he did a great job pulling out an old shower stall and installing a new tub (which he had to find as the one I bought was the wrong size).  He also fixed a plumbing mess we had from the previous owner in the kitchen.  Great communication and easy to work with.  I would highly recommend.

Discovered had lost hot water at 9 on a Friday night.  Texted Top Notch at 9:30 PM.  Five minutes later Gordon responded and he arrived at 9 the next morning to fix/replace water heater.  I have used Top Notch (Gordon) multiple times over 15 years and have found it the very best: timely, honest, quick and fair.  Gordon even cleans as he works.  I recommend to everyone in north county area.

I replaced my water line and fire sprinkler line from the meter to the side of my house, where the original lines enter my house.  The only work I had Gordon do was the connections at the meter and at the house.

I found Gordon here on Yelp and liked that he had so many positive reviews.  I gave Gordon a very detailed description of the work I needed done over the telephone and he gave me a verbal estimate of about $400.  It was the best price I could find, so I hired him.  Gordon came out ahead of time to see the intended work first hand.  

Gordon and his assistant arrived on 10/31/16 to start the work.  Within a few minutes of arriving, Gordon doubled his original verbal estimate to $800.  When I questioned the increase, Gordon said it was going to be harder than he thought.  He told me he could probably get the price down to around $700 if I agree to pay by the hour or a fixed price of $1100.  Of course I chose the first option.  Gordon and his assistant spent the first 2 hours out shopping for supplies, which were very basic items that every plumber should already have in his truck like 1 copper fittings and gas for his torch.  Both stores are 5 minutes from my house.   There was a second trip made to buy a part that Gordon said he forgot the first time.  I didn't know it at the time, but Gordon was charging me his full hourly rate for his shopping trips too.  Gordon and his assistant were actually on site for a total of 6 hours over 2 days.  The quality of the work was good.  

I was surprised when Gordon presented me with a bill for $1240.  He billed me for a total of 10 hours labor plus parts.  That was triple the original estimate.  I will never use Top Notch plumbing again nor would I recommend anyone to them.  Don't get taken advantage of like I did.

Came home at night to a leaking roof. Left a few messages with different plumbers. Top-notch replied early the next morning as well as were able to come out really early. Glad I went with him. Super friendly and amazingly fast response time to me. Will definitely go to him for future needs.

I was reworking a hose bib on the side of my house and damaged the pipe. I had the water turned off for the complete house. So I turned to Yelp to find a plumber. Not to far down the list was Top Notch with some good reviews.  I called and spoke to the owner Gordon and told him I was in a bind as the water was turned off for the whole house. He told me he could come out today but it would be a few hours.
I told him that was fine and went about things. Before I knew it he was at my door. I showed him the leak and he went about things in a professional way. He was done before I knew it. His price was fair, his work was good, his service was prompt and on top of that a real nice guy. I finally found a good plummer.

Gordon was super nice and really quick to get back to me about my kitchen sink problem. They came and were in and out in about an hour and provided great service. They were friendly and really detailed about how they let me know what the issues were and how they could help.

So I had a fairly small slab leak that was filling my garden with water. I called Gordon because I have used him several times before and have always been satisfied with his work. He came out and got to work was able to find the leak and repair it in no time at all. I would highly recommend Top Notch Plumbing with your plumbing needs. He is very punctual and diligent.

Had an emergency hot water heater issue.  I went on Yelp not expecting great things. I simply wrote Help I need a hot water heater installed.  Within 3 minutes the owner of the company called me with a very reasonable almost too good to be true quote and quite frankly a little scary good    Since I was shopping around for the best price I did not immediately commit.  After 11 other calls from people on yelp to my surprise he wasn't the cheapest however he was reasonable   The owner followed up told me he had an opening this morning and could be at my house by 10 am it was already past 9.  By 10:40 he was done and I had hot water with the next 30 minutes.  Let me be honest my job was nothing shy of a hot mess and I was afraid he would renegotiate. He didn't.  He was a man of his word and we all know how important integrity is.  My Hats off to top notch.  Thanks for a job well done

I called Gordon based on other reviewers here on Yelp. He gave me a straight estimate, was fair, and I feel like I wasn't screwed over. I know nothing about plumbing, but think that he's an expert in his business and I'm happy I went with him.

I will use him again and recommend him to anyone in North County looking for a good, reliable plumber.

When water started coming out of a light socket from our second floor, we turned first to Top-Notch Plumbing, based on yelp reviews. Left a voicemail asking for help as urgently as possible (as they were open all day) YESTERDAY and haven't heard a word, its been almost 24 hours.  Thankfully we were able to get a hold of someone else after we waited a few hours and they were here within the hour.

While I hadn't heard from them in many days, the owner did reach out and apologize, explaining a computer glitch and offering a discount. Because he followed back up, I'll add a star to my experience with them and hope that in the future, they'll have a system in place to handle that, as I'd think most folks wouldn't need a plumber super often.

Gordon came out right away when we had a leak under the sidewalk out in front of our house. (It wasn't the City of Escondido's to repair - we'd already had them come and check it out)  Gordon located the leak right away (under the sidewalk) on our main line from the street to the house. He dug out on both sides and under the sidewalk, replacing the 1 pipe and joints where needed. Our dirt is rock-hard, but he had the proper tools and equipment to make it go quickly and efficiently.  

We let it sit overnight for the fittings to dry well, and then Saturday morning, first thing, he came out and finished the job beautifully.  The dirt and rocks were all put back just as before, swept and washed down so that you can't even tell they were moved!  And these were 2 BIG holes!  He replaced the patch of cement that had to be cut on our drive way and finished it beautifully as well.  

He was very personable, honest and good at what he does.  His price was completely reasonable, too. We will certainly call him should we ever have any plumbing need in the future, and I will absolutely be telling our friends about him.

Gordon is amazing. We requested an estimate for work that needed to be done via email over the weekend from several local plumbers. Gordon responded promptly, provided an estimate and set the appointment. He was on time for the appointment, explained all repairs thoroughly and exhibited a high level of professionalism.  Gordon advised us on some other issues we had and even made a few small repairs to some items that were installed incorrectly before we purchased the house. I could not have asked for better service anywhere else!!! Gordon assisted me in fixing a problem that I tried to tackle a few times and messed it up. I searched Yelp and he actually lives in the same neighborhood. He was no nonsense straightforward, and reasonably priced.  We scheduled and my plumbing issues were solved. Was response prompt? Was estimate accurate? Was work completed as promised? Was cost reasonable? These folks answered them all 100% YES!!!

After a few years, more things needed fixing.  I called Top Notch again based on my first experience. I am happy to say nothing has changed. Gordon, the owner, showed up early for the appointment. The kitchen sink faucet replacement while not necessarily a hard job had enough trickiness involved that I am glad I called in a professional. He took care of a clogged pipe as well. Again the time it took to do the job was reasonable as was the cost.  I am a very satisfied customer and will continue to use Top Notch.

Gordon returned the $250 overcharge and apologized for this rudeness. Hopefully he treats future customers with respect and fairness from now on.

I called with a minor leak in a toilet but also needed work done in other areas of my home.  The receptionist was very nice and made an appointment for the next morning.  On time, my service representative showed up at my house and introduced himself as Gordon.  I showed him what needed to be completed and he explained the costs and time needed.  He completed the work promptly, was very courteous, careful of my rugs and did an excellent job.  The prices were acceptable and reasonable.  He also provided his expertise on purchasing products from Home Depot.  Highly recommended

We bought a new refrigerator with an ice maker and needed to install a water line. When Gordon came and pulled the old refrigerator away from the wall he pointed out that we already had a line and that nothing further needed to be done. He didn't check to confirm that the shut off could be opened and closed, he didn't notice that the line coming out of the wall didn't have a fitting. We were charged for his time to come out.

When the refrigerator came the next day we had to have him come back out to put the fitting on the line,  requiring the refrigerator installers to need to make another trip because he refused to connect the line from the wall to the new refrigerator.

When the refrigerator installers returned the fitting was put on so far down the line that it wouldn't fit the line from the fridge. I had to again call Gordon and this time he walked me through how I could adjust the fitting.

Ridiculous!

Today I had top-notch plumbing come out to fix my shower and toilet.  They refurbished both systems for under 500, which I felt was reasonable!   Highly recommend!

I had my kitchen sinks backed up for a week. We tried everything but could not rectify the problem.. Time for a plumber.. I called Top Notch on a Friday evening and left a message for them to return my call. At 9:00 am the next day, Saturday, Gordon, the owner returned my call and set up an appointment  for 3 hours from then.. He showed up 15 min early, fixed my problem and was gone within 45 min. I can not recommend him more highly. Very professional, courteous, timely and affordable. I plan on calling Top Notch again should I have another plumbing issue.

We had an issue with leaking water from our bathroom on the second floor to our first floor.  I called this company because of the excellent reviews, and I must say I was not disapointed.  The technician was wonderful to work with, polite and knowleable, and explained everything from start to finish. I felt that besides fixing the problem quickly, and letting us know what was going on, he had great customer service.  I will would call him again in a heartbeat.  I was very satisfied.

Had my pipes break lose while doing dishes. He came the day we called and had it fixed immediately. Not only that but he noticed other parts were loose and tightened those as well! I'd recommend Top Notch to anyone.

After changing cable services my technician let me know there was standing water under the house and that I probably had a leak.   Called another plumber to come out and take a look and after describing the situation, he refused the job outright.  Called Top Notch - Gordon came out the next day and found the shower drain leaking into the crawlspace under the house; after authorizing the repair with my landlord he quickly fixed the problem within his quote.   Outstanding service and would not hesitate to hire again.  Thanks Gordon!

My main bath sink started leaking and found the pipes to be corroded a few weeks ago.  Looked around on Yelp and much to my dismay there wasn't a lot of extensively reviewed plumbers in Escondido.  All the well reviewed plumbers were in San Diego and unwilling to come up to Escondido.  

Fortunately found Top Notch Plumbing and based on the reviews decided to give them a call.  Gorden showed up and was friendly and professional.  The pipes took some doing to remove them and he also upgraded my cheap old plastic stopper mechanism to a nice copper unit.  

I felt his work was thorough and he took to the time to keep things clean and cleaned up any mess after.  His price was reasonable as well.  I will certainly call him again for his great customer service and reasonable prices.

We had a very clean, but stinky toilet. Figured out what the problem was, looked it up online, and decided that we didn't want to mess around with DIY-ing it. Called Gordon, and he was able to come out that same day. Was right on time, gave us a fast and fair estimate, and completed the work in a timely manner. Even wiped up the floor for us when he left. :)

Hopefully will not have any more plumbing issues, but if we do, we will definitely call Top-Notch again!

Gordon is a pro. I'm trying to close on my house and we had a few request for repairs that were holding us up. We needed to replace the water shut off valve and the pressure regulator. I called him yesterday, he came by this morning and everything is all squared away. Great guy, very professional, and the work was done very well. He cleaned up after the job, and it looks great.

While repairing a simple indoor leak over the Thanksgiving weekend (with company, of course), the main valve to the house broke ... in the closed position. Not knowing who to call, we came straight to the reviewers here and were not disappointed.

Gordon, the owner, was on another job at the time, but told us he could be to our house within an hour and a half. He arrived earlier than his estimate, quickly diagnosed the problem and suggested a low-cost alternative.

His rates were reasonable - especially considering it was a holiday weekend - and he even threw in a replacement for a broken toilet tank flapper when I told him we were heading to the store to buy one.

We will definitely use his services in the future.

We woke up to water everywhere in our front yard and a broken pipe... I found these guys on Yelp and gave them a call. They called me back before they were open and were over here within a couple hours. Very friendly and quick and we did not feel like were being ripped off. We will call them again in the future.

I called Gordon after my toilet stopped up a few times, and I could no longer clear it with a plunger. Gordon answered the phone bright and early and promised to be there no later than 11. I let him know my roommate had to leave at 11:30 for work and he showed up at 10:30 instead. He quickly snaked the drain and gave us a very fair price. For two girls who are never home because of crazy work schedules, we appreciate him coming out on short notice, being wonderfully friendly, and fairly priced. a few years ago I called Top-Notch to help fix my pressure valve on my water heater.  Gordon came out and fixed it up right quick.  I was quite satisfied with the work performed.  Due to this, I recently called him again to remove my solar water heater and he did an awesome job.  The two water heater tanks had had lots of work over the years with respect to the piping; such that it was quite the puzzle of pipes.  He cleaned up the piping to my electric water heater and even capped off the up/down flow pipes to the roof for when / if I want to get a new solar heater.  Gordon was friendly, courteous and did a very good job!

Gordon does good work. He reseated our toilet for a fair price and did a good job. Called him on a plumbing issue late on a Friday night. Although his posted hours say he's only open weekdays, he gave me a callback and advised he would come out except he was taking care of his daughter. Gave me a good referral. Appreciate that he cared about our problem.

Customer beware. Gordon began fixing a plumbing issue without giving me a written estimate - against what is stated in the website. I mistakenly thought he was still diagnosing the issue, then he surprised me with an expensive bill. I felt pressured to pay it, so I did. I will never use this plumbing service again.

Top - Notch Plumbing were incredible. So professional and helpful. Gordon came over to install 2 new toilets and check over some previous work they had done. I will use Top-notch Plumbing over and over again. They were the best.

We had a pretty bad leak start on our house shutoff valve on Friday night. I called on Saturday morning around 10 AM when my normal plumber couldn't schedule me for nearly a week. Gordon was here within 30 minutes, had all parts on hand, and finished in about an hour. Everything was soldered (not compression fittings) and it looked fantastic. The pricing was VERY up-front and Gordon is a stand-up guy. I think he may have won himself a long-term customer with this job. He really saved us on this one. And on top of it, he quickly quoted me what it would take to install a water heater in the future. Great find.

We've had Gordon out to our home to fix a toilet, install a kitchen faucet and a heat pump for our whole house.  Gordon is fast, efficient, and reasonable.  Each time he gave us an estimate and even came back to adjust something in the faucet that wasn't working.  We give him five stars for being available, knowledgeable, and efficient.  We would highly recommend Gordon.

We hired Gordon based on the other Yelp reviews. We had our main water supply pipe break between the meter and our house. I knew they were going to have to dig up the yard and quite possibly my brick walkway. Gordon understood our concerns and came up with a great work around to ensure that the brick walkway was saved. Hooray. He and his workers were professional, clean, and expedient. Gordon is now our plumber and is who we will hire for all of our plumbing needs.

Top - Notch Plumbing came to our home yesterday to check into a gas line leak and were going to come back today to fix it. Gordon said he'd come back at 7:30AM or 8:00AM and never did. I called over there and whoever answered the phone said that they had two appts booked at the same time and they were at the other appt and weren't going to come over at all and to take it as a lesson learned and hung up on me. It was just unbelievable. I took time off of work to be here too as we really needed it fixed as we have no hot water for showers and the dryer due to the gas being shut off by SDGE.  Anyway, if you want to learn a bad lesson call this horrible company.

we used top notch plumbing to fix some leaking pipes under the sink and the guy was on time, fixed it fast and left the place spotless. it is so good when you can trust someone to do it right,  he was very pleasant too!!. top notch plumbing has a new customer for life.

Lesson learned when you have a plumbing problem....call in the professionals. Switching out a mixer in a shower  sounds easy..Right? After breaking the valve off from the copper pipes on a Sunday it was time to find a plumber. The reviews certainly helped make the decision to call Top Notch plumbing first thing on Monday am. Within 10 minutes of leaving a voice message, my call was returned and Gordon was out by 9:30. He was friendly, professional, and very neat! got the job done quickly and at a fair price. No one likes to deal with plumbing issues, but now I know who to call..Top Notch plumbing.

I had a leak in my upstairs master bathroom that was running down the wall and into my downstairs living room. I was certain that there was a major problem and had already contacted my insurance company to take the proper steps. Before handing over a large deductible I thought I would look on yelp for a plumber that could come out and do a leak detection service. I am certainly glad that I did. I did not see reviews on this particular company but looked up their website, looked up their contractors license, and made a phone call. Gordon the owner answered the phone and gave me some good advise for what to look for, what could be wrong, and even some do-it-yourself tips to prevent spending too much money with a plumber. I was impressed with his honesty and I ended up booking a $85.00 service call for him to come out and take a look the next morning. He was on-time, professional, and was able to identify a low-cost fix that was complete within about 20 minutes. Because of the location and type of leak, along with my lack of plumbing knowledge, he certainly could have charged me more for things to fix that did not need done. Instead he was thorough, fair, and professional. I will absolutely use him with any other issues that come up and highly recommend you do the same.
