If you are in need of an excellent, professional, reliable, and trustworthy plumber, I would highly recommend T. A. Roberts. I used Todd on 2 separate occasions for leaky faucets with great satisfaction with the work performed. I decided to replace my old linoleum flooring in the bathroom, which required that the toilet and pedestal sink be removed before the tile could be laid. I called Todd, and he gave me a very reasonable quote. Because I have only the one bathroom, I needed the work to be expedited. Todd arrived on the appointed time and removed the bathroom fixtures in plenty of time for the demo of my bathroom floor and the installation of tile. At Todd's recommendation I had hired Mark Perri, Perri Marble & Tile, Inc. to install the tile. An excellent choice. Todd and Mark Perri coordinated their work schedules to accomplish the project in a timely manner. After the tile was laid, Todd returned and professionally and neatly replaced the toilet and sink. I had left town because of not having the use of a bathroom. Todd was very considerate of my need to return home as soon as possible after bathroom was functional. He went far beyond and contacted me with an update and to let me know that the bathroom was ready for use, well before the proposed time and that I could return home earlier than I anticipated. I arrived home and was delighted to see the perfectly implemented finished project. Not only is Todd's work impeccable but he is a thoughtful, conscientious, caring person and a true professional, absolutely wonderful to work with.

Called for a leaky toilet and talked to Todd right away. Sent him some pics and he was able to guide me to stop the leak until he came. This was not an emergency since we have another toilet, but still he came over in a very timely manner with the required part, and was in and out, problem fixed for a very reasonable fee. Also great covid protocols, mask on at all times. Will definitely use again, a great experience.

Todd Roberts is wonderful and I highly recommend him. A couple of weeks before Christmas, our sump pump stopped working and our basement flooded, which killed our water heater, too. Within an hour of calling Todd, he was at our house, drained the flooded water, replaced our sump pump, and taught us how to maintain it for the future. Next morning he and his partner quickly install a new water heater. He even walked around our sinks and bathrooms to make sure all the water sources work. Everything was completed quickly and professionally. He is extremely responsive and reliable, and very personable during the whole process. Thank you, Todd!

Beginning to end, a class act.

I call Todd about a leaking outdoor pipe and he asks for a pic to diagnose. He says upfront that the price will range depending on what he finds, but his high estimate was still lower than the flat rates that other companies were quoting. Within the first hour of him showing up, he MacGuyver'd 2 things: His reciprocating saw blade was too wide to get at the pipe against the wall and ground, so he got a grinder and hand-cut his blade to something skinnier(sparks were flying onto his hands). And he sharpened a screwdriver to a fine point to chip away a cracked pipe stuck in the T-joint, then proceeded to thread it manually to cap it off.

His price came in at half of the flat rate price of other companies.

As he was leaving, an ice cream truck rolled by. He runs after it and buys my neighbor's daughter a popsicle! WHAT!? Then he walks back and says that in this world, in these times, all we can do is be good to others. Thats like a real super hero right there. I saw his cape flapping behind him as he got back into his van and drove off into the sunset.

Wow! I feel like I really lucked out finding Todd. He picked up the phone immediately and fortunately was available same day to diagnose the issue, go get get the part and install it within 3 hours of my calling. Unfortunately there was a second issue that will require a certified technician. Todd was reality nice and a pleasure to work with. I will definitely call him again in the future.

Todd replaced our hot water heater back in January and then came out yesterday to fix the toilet in our half bath. Both times Todd made time in his busy schedule to fit us in. We hired Todd to install a new dishwasher after the appliance installation people told us our situation called for a real plumber, and it was a great choice. He not only got it set up correctly lickety-split, he amended several shortcuts and poor choices past installers had made to the hook-ups. He even corrected an unrelated issue with our garbage disposal just because he was already working in the area!

That level of professionalism combined with cleanliness, courtesy and a very good rate makes for an obvious choice next time we need work done.

I called Todd on a Monday evening about a small leak in our laundry room. He answered quickly then had me send over some photos of the issue. He immediately responded saying what the issue was and how he could address it the next morning. He came over, on time, the next morning and fixed the problem in about 20 minutes. I'm stoked to be the 400th review for TA Roberts Plumbing Company. We asked Todd to urgently help us after dropping a plastic cup in the toilet while simultaneously flushing it. (Long story). His stellar reviews on Yelp are what led us to him, and they are well-deserved. He is competitively priced, hard working, very personable, and exceptionally hard working. In the hour he was here replacing our toilet (and within 24 hours of contacting him to boot), I learned that he is a salt-of-the-earth kind of guy with a serious work ethic. He left our bathroom cleaner than it was when he arrived! Said he got that from his mama!

One shouldn't hesitate to hire Todd for their plumbing job! He's stellar.

Todd was prompt, reliably, patient and thorough. I called him in the morning to ask about having an earthquake valve installed on the gas meter. He was able to get the permit, install the valve and schedule the city inspection all by noon! He was back the next day to check up on the inspection and did a walk through of my house to make sure all the pilot lights were on and gas appliances were working.

Todd was very informative over the phone as he explained the process and cost. He also was very patient as I curiously watched him install the valve and asked a million questions.

I highly recommend Todd and will definitely be calling him when I need any plumbing work done.

Fabulous Service and incredible value. Fixed a very difficult hose bib leaking from the pipe on the inside wall. He is knowledgeable and trustworthy. Friendly and professional. Woke up to find a 'small river' running through the garage and a pinhole of water spewing from the tank. UGH! not a good way to start the day and during the holidays!

Decided i was going to call the people who installed my water heater 11 years ago but of course, can't find their number...hmmm...maybe that's a sign as i can't find them on Yelp either.... Find: Water Heater Replacement

Search Result: TA Robert Plumbing was one of the top listings for Hayward, San Leandro, Union City area and i see they serve Alameda and the surrounding areas. Called them at 7:40 and get the voicemail. DRATS! I guess i won't be going to work this morning... No worries, they returned my call within 5 minutes....

Todd was friendly, helpful and at first mentioned he doesn't service the Hayward area..heck i don't blame him! LOL But he probably sensed my panic and urgency that he made the exception to come out and help me....I made sure to ask for an estimate as i didn't want either of us wasting our time.

Initially, i thought it was at the higher range but due to the emergency, my location, and him willing to come out right away, i felt it was worth it! Well he just finished and i have time to spare to right this review before going to work.

Customer Service and Professionalism: 5 stars all the way!

Todd and his son, Ben called when they were on their way (which I appreciate!), arrived earlier than stated (wow! unheard of) , installed it quickly and efficiently (hmm...how is that possible?), cleaned up the water in my garage (wow!) and provided a helpful tip in having a water heater last longer. What an honest guy!

TIP: Drain your water heater once a year for 1 minute so you don't have sediment sitting at the bottom. No need to turn off anything, connect a hose and turn the valve (righty-tighty, lefty loosey!) to drain the water.

I guess time will tell if this water heater will last the test of time but I'm pretty confident about Todd and son's work ethic...he leaves his customers with confidence and you think was this guy for real? this is what you call old-school customer service!. Thank you to Todd and Ben!

Todd is absolutely fantastic. I had a small bathroom sink repair turn into a significant leak that could have become a major situation, and without Todd's help I would have been in big trouble. He gave me clear advice and explanation of my options at every step of the process, warning me of the possible risks and making sure I understood what needed to be done. He was prompt and easy to communicate with, fitting me into his busy schedule on super short notice.

The best thing about Todd's service is that my job required the involvement of 2 other contractors, since he doesn't do tile or sheetrock work, and he was able to get them both to come on short notice as well. There was no long lag between steps in the process, and we were able to get the situation resolved as quickly as I could possibly have hoped for. The cost was very fair and reasonable too.

You won't find a more honest straight-shooter than Todd. He's a real pro. It's such a huge relief knowing that I have a go-to person to call in the future if any other plumbing issues arise.

They came to the house, evaluated the sink and kitchen hot water dispenser. Recommended what I should buy new faucet and new hot water dispenser. I bought these products totaling over 500$, then called them back twice, texted twice in order to have them installed and got complete radio silence.

No call back, no response whatsoever. So I had to have someone else come install the products. If you come out and tell us what to buy to fix things and tell us to call you back to install them, then please contact us back!!!!

If you're too busy, at least tell us! Horrible.

Todd came out today to remove and replace our kitchen faucet...he is so efficient and professional..and SAFE, arriving with his mask...during shelter in place, you couldn't ask for more...!!! What I thought was a simple, weekend DIY project, turn into a nightmare...when you don't have the proper tools, or an adequate area to work with, it would ruin anyone's best laid plans, believe me...!!! But Todd to the rescue...he was here within an hour of my initial contact by phone, arrived and was here, and done in less than an hour and now, our kitchen is WHOLE, again. There was dripping under our kitchen sink after someone else had worked on the plumbing over a year ago, and we needed to get it fixed ASAP. We called Todd and he answered right away. Called Todd to replace the cartridge in our shower handle. He made sure he had the part before coming over and also used a name brand and not generic part, which I appreciated. He was quick, did a great job, and asked a very reasonable price. He was also very kind to my 3 little boys and clearly made an impression. A few days after he came I asked them what they wanted to do tomorrow and after thinking for a moment one said plumber and the other two quickly agreed. So hopefully I'll have to call Todd to fix something else soon.

These guys are great. I needed a water heater replaced just to be proactive since mine was 14 years old. Todd came over same day (within 30 minutes), checked out the situation, gave me a quote and said he could swap it out next day.

There are not enough superlatives to adequately describe the work Todd did for us today. I called; he answered immediately and asked a few questions, then explained that he had a project to complete first, and then would come by to see if he could fix the problem. Less than two hours later, he knocked at our door, masked and ready to our job. A little over an hour later (which included Todd making a quick run to get a part he hadn't known he would need), he had finished a job that others had estimated would take 3 - 5 hours. We could not have asked for a more pleasant or efficient experience.

Todd helped us install an automated gas shut-off valve. I was impressed with his professionalism and communication during the process. He installed the part and explained how we use it, filed permits, met the city inspector, and sent us signed-off copies of the work - all within 24 hours. I regularly don't write review. We lost boiling water this last end of the week. We called TA Roberts Plumbing Company and they sent over a specialized immediately.

They are exceptionally useful and inviting. He was likewise exceptionally well mannered. Sadly my water radiator is dead. He furnished me with choices and clarifying in subtleties with upsides and downsides. He supplanted the water radiator right away. When he previously arrived, I wondered whether he recognized what he was doing since he looked exceptionally youthful. In any case, he is entirely learned and extremely proficient. I would have use them again later on.

Todd is the most reliable, professional, no non-sense plumber I have worked with thus far. I've used him twice- the first time on an investment property about a sump pump that continues to fail on an ongoing basis. Others have attempted to repair but could not rectify. So in desperation, I turned to yelp and prayed that I get a good one. Todd quickly accommodated to my very short notice and got to work immediately after accessing the problem. I was very skeptical as I've already spent a fortune on two prior plumbers. Needless to say, six months later and counting, the longest stretch since owning the building that I have NOT received a single complaint from a tenant. Todd worked his magic. A happy tenant is a happy me. =)

The 2nd time I called Todd was for my own personal residence. I needed an earthquake gas shutoff valve installed to satisfy city ordinance on a resale. When asked if he could expedite, I was expecting sooner than later. However, from initial inspection to pulling permit to installing and final approval was done all within 24 hours!! Can you say speedy? I've never written a review before but am compelled to, for Todd is the hardest working plumber I know. He does not disappoint. Absolutely no sugar coating here.

I only have good things to say about TA Roberts Plumbing. They replaced two poor quality water heaters with high quality ones at a duplex I own. The cheap water heaters (Rheem) died and couldn't be repaired because of the way the manufacturer builds them (if anything breaks you have to replace the whole unit).

I contacted TA Roberts, they came out the next day, did the entire job without me having to be there (the water heaters were accessible without a key), and then met me in the evening for payment. They were thorough, knowledgeable, thoughtful and provided high quality work at a competitive price.

I'd certainly use TA Roberts Plumbing again.

Todd and his assistant arrived on time for the scheduled appointment.
They were able to fix the leaking toilet and kitchen sink because they knew their trade very well and had all the necessary spare parts and tools in service van to fix issues with first visit.

Once again, Todd saves the day!
11:30 at night I go to brush my teeth and when I turned on the old one handle faucet i heard a snap... and now the handle is useless and the water will not turn off..... See what happens when you brush your teeth twice a day!!!!
Long story short, I had to turn the water off under the sink...Then I looked at the faucet and realized I was not going to be able to replace this myself. I called Todd at 7:30 am and he fit me in THAT DAY. I left work early, went to Home Depot and got a nice new faucet!
Todd arrived and within an hour had it replaced! All cleaned up and ready to go.
Todd is fast, fair and by far the best plumber in Alameda!
I am redoing my bathroom and he will be doing the plumbing, no doubt!

I recently moved to Alameda and needed a quick fix for a leaky shower head. I called Todd this morning because we had a leaking kitchen faucet. I called another plumber before I found TA Todd Roberts and they couldn't even come out until next week. Todd answered the phone when I called and I felt comfortable as soon as we started talking. I found a new faucet after he told me what to look for. I sent a text telling him that we were ready to go. It was getting late in the afternoon, but he said he would stop by and look at what he need to do. He ended up being able to install the faucet today, he also explained to us what was leaking in the old faucet. The whole job took about an hour and we have a working kitchen sink again! Todd did an outstanding job in helping me with a couple of plumbing issues. He quickly spotted the reason I had no hot water and efficiently installed a new water heater cleaning out debris in the closet from other contractors and installing a drain pipe in case it ever leaks. He was helpful in talking through what to look for in a water heater. He was right on time and notified me promptly when his schedule changed. He also helped with a few other minor plumbing issues I had been putting off.

Another super amazing job by Todd and team. My 30gal, 17yr old tank water heater died over the Memorial holiday weekend in a way that just didn't make sense to repair. And and TA Roberts promptly got me set up with the tankless I've been wanting for years.

Some important things to share:
1) I expected to only get to voice mail on that holiday weekend, but Todd answered and I was set with an appointment for first thing in the morning. That's remarkable right there.

2) While I've been thinking about this move for years, I didn't keep up to date on the tankless options. I really appreciate the breakdown of the options, the pros and cons, the placement considerations, and all the knowledge he shared. I'm extremely pleased with the outcome and the way it's going to play with my long term goals for a bit of remodel and home updates.

3) Todd goes above and beyond every time. From small things like clogged drains that he fixed right then, to the bigger things like working out some more aesthetically pleasing pipe placement that hugs the walls instead of jutting out. I'm super thankful he's able and eager to make it just right.

4) And last but not least, I appreciate, the final walk-through and instructions shared. Even a day past installation, he took the time to answer the questions that came up about maintenance. We stepped through the procedure in the care manual and I took a few extra notes about steps that are going to make maintenance very straightforward.

This is the first BIG issue I've really had - thank you TA Roberts for helping me get to a much better solution.

He said he'd be with us in an hour and a half (wow!) but, in fact, arrived 30 minutes early! He dealt with our issues in a very friendly and calm way and, notably, was very, very respectful of our home. One if the problems was, actually, a bit more of an issue that we thought, but Todd dealt with it immediately. When it came time to settle up, we were very pleasantly surprised - the cost was more than reasonable.

I cannot recommend Todd highly enough. I saved his number for a job he did a while back -- can't remember what it was, but I don't save numbers unless I'm satisfied. Today, I had a major leak in my kitchen sink and called him in a panic, worried I'd have to get a new faucet to replace my expensive Grohe even though it's fully warranteed for life, because I'd have to wait a few days for a replacement or parts. After he returned my message (in less than five minutes) and a five minute phone diagnostic, he'd figured out the simple fix that solved the problem. No charge. Integrity to the highest degree, and he knows his stuff. He's my plumber for life.

Called Todd to come out and install a couple of toilets. Todd and son showed up right on time. Moved int he toilets and got right to work. The measured the toilet and the space and lo and behold the toilet was too tall. They moved the toilets back out, packed up and left. No charge.

Fast forward a couple of weeks. I bought toilets that were the right height. Called Todd around 9 and he had an opening at 11a the same day! Todd and son showed up right on time and got to work. The old toilets were 28 years old with crud around the base - Todd scrapped and scrubbed it out. Smooth install and it looks like new! Cleaned up everything afterwards leaving the bathroom spotless.

Todd and Ben installed a garbage disposal in like 15-20 minutes, meaning they were lightening fast. They were sure to clean up...and I just realized, they took away my old garbage disposal along with their clean up. Wow, that wasn't even necessary. They did a great job, job came out to what they quoted, and was it worth it. Basically, found my bay area plumber for life. Thanks Todd and Ben for your service and just being great to work with.

Some tips on garbage disposals: Bought mine on amazon, a badger 5 (we'll see how solid these are), but found out that they don't come with the electrical parts. Directions say that you can use the old one potentially, but to be safe, just ordered the new part. The disposal comes with a splash guard (I didn't know that).

Lastly, TA Roberts, takes check (this kind of service you'd expect that) so make sure to have that ready.

My wife and I recently moved from San Francisco to Alameda. The condo we rent has an earthquake shutoff device on the gas meter. We tripped this device our second week in the condo and lost the use of our stove, hot water and heat. When we called PG&E, they indicated it would take a week before they could send a technician to fix the problem. He came five days, reset the the shutoff valve and reset the pilot light on the water heater.

Two weeks later, I again tripped the earthquake device while putting out the garbage and recycling. We knew it would take another week to get a PG&E technician out so we started looking for a licensed plumber on Yelp I saw that T.A. Roberts was top rated however, yelp showed that he only was available Monday through Friday. I reset the earthquake shut off value which allowed the heat and stove to work but I was unable to reset the pilot light for the water heater. On Sunday, getting tired of not having any hot water, I started calling plumbers that were shown by Yelp to be available on Sunday. While I left a couple of messages, I did not get any return calls.

On Monday I decided to begin calling gas plumbers again early in the morning. My first call was to T.A. Roberts, but I only got voicemail and decided not to leave a message. Within 15 minutes, I received a call back from Todd Roberts. I explained to him the problem and though he had a full schedule that day, he agreed to stop by on the way to his first appointment. When he arrived, he quickly checked the water heater and got the pilot working. He and his daughter, Mellisa, who accompanied him were very friendly and professional. Todd is a native of Alameda and he and his daughter warmly welcomed my wife and me to the area. The price charged but Todd for his services was very reasonable.

That afternoon, one of the maintenance crew that was power washing the outside of the townhouses tripped the earthquake valve. Again, I had the same problem in starting the water heater. I called Todd and he said he would be back that afternoon to restart the pilot light. He was true to his word. He came by and got the pilot light working again but refused to take additional compensation for his work. He provided me with advice on how to safely managing gas issues and showed me the best way to relight the water heater pilot light.

I saw the great reviews, and I had used them many years ago, so called and got an appt Feb 12. He and his son (I guess from what others said) showed up promptly, took a look at my leaky, no-water-pressure faucet, and told me it was very old. He advised me to buy a new one and give him a call back. So I did.
I left 2 messages and never got a return call. Thought it was pretty strange ...

So I called another plumber.

Todd and Ben are fantastic. They came through for me when other plumbing companies were running away scared from the complexity of the job we needed installed. Also just generally great guys and easy to work with.

I own Merch Monster Screen Printing in Oakland. We needed an air loop hung from our 25' high ceiling - a big 15' w x 30' long square of 2 copper pipe - then hooked up to an 80 gallon industrial compressor. Todd and Ben got up in a scissor lift and made it happen for us in a week.

I have no reservations recommending TA Roberts for plumbing issues. I've used Todd's services twice now. The latest problem was a broken hose bibb which was leaking water into my basement. This happened at about 8:00 pm and I couldn't isolate the leak and had to turn off the water to the entire house. I called Todd and he asked me to text him some pictures and then said he would be out in the morning. I had to work the next day but my wife called at 9am and said it was fixed. Thanks Todd!!

Todd and his daughter did excellent, reasonably-priced work on my water heater under significant time pressure (city inspection in a few days). He was punctual and a gentleman.

Todd is AMAZING! I initially thought I had a problem with my tankless water heater...but then my gas oven wasn't working. Todd was able to problem solve that my earthquake auto shut-off valve had been tripped (I had construction work on my entry stairs that day). He walked me through all safety checkpoints, explained how to turn it back on, more safety checks... and in the end all was working again. Mind you, we were on the phone from 8:30pm to 9pm. Mr. Roberts (& son) have saved my bacon several occasions. I had recently bought a house and discovered that the earthquake shutoff valve for the gas had been improperly installed, and THAT is where the gassy smell on the side of the house was coming from. Calling PG&E resulted in a panicked shut down of gas to the house. Mr. Roberts reinstalled the shutoff valve and ensured all the lines under the house were gas-leak free. A few days later, I discovered that the bathroom sink was draining into the cabinet beneath it due to a DIY plumbing job. Mr Roberts fixed that promptly, too.
They have always been super fast to respond and professional, and are my go-to team for anything to do with plumbing or gas!

We had a leak from the pipes leading to the garden hose in our front yard. I called Todd and he was able to come out within a couple of hours. Contacted the company prior to Thanksgiving and they came up and looked at an exterior sewer problem and interior work that we wanted done. Company said they would get back to us with a proposal after working up the figures but was going on vacation for the first time over Thanksgiving and would get back to us upon their return.

* (Immediate exterior sewer repair problem taken care of by another firm the next day.)

Telephone tag with the company until yesterday when company informed me they don't do exterior sewer work. They should and should have said this in the first place.

I asked about the other interior work company looked at and was given a price for that work. Asked for a written proposal and company informed me they only give verbal proposals if and until the potential client cuts them a check for their entire verbal proposal amount. I was confused and asked company that in order to get the verbal proposal he just gave me over the phone in written form that it would require providing company a check in full for the verbal proposal amount. Company said that was, indeed, the case.

I told company they could save their time in drafting that one page proposal. It wouldn't be needed as they offered nothing of benefit to us. No work was performed by them. Just lost time.

While installing the new water line for my dishwasher the shut off valve began to leak, and because the valve was rusted to the pipe I couldn't get it off to replace it. The leak was so bad that it soaked my cabinets, seeped into my basement, shorted out an electrical line, and created a pool on my kitchen floor. Visions of an insanely large bill from a plumber and from EBMUD flashed before my eyes.

I called Todd expecting an answering machine but I was pleasantly surprised to get him instead. I called expecting to have to make an appointment but was pleasantly surprised again when he agreed to meet me at my house in 30 minutes. Sure enough he and his son were waiting for me when I arrived, and within an hour they had the valve replaced, the line installed, and fixed a leak at the valve for the main line into the house. Then before he left he gave me tips on a new toilet and for an electrician to fix the shorted line. All of this for a reasonable price that I was more than happy to write a check for. If I do install that new toilet or have any other plumbing problems I now know who to call. Todd is as good as it gets.

Todd and his son are professional, knowledgeable, punctual, and affordable.

I am an expecting mom with a toddler, and when Todd and I connected on the phone, he was at my door within 15 minutes to fix my dishwasher.

While he was there he asked about other work and was able to give an estimate on toilet and shower tune ups. While we originally hoped to get that done the same day, they were called to an emergency and we agreed to work done the next day, which they were totally on time for and completed quickly. I found the charge very reasonable and well worth it.

Todd's phone is often full on voicemail, but he will get back to you. Never fear.

I also wanted to say that I was very comfortable alone with Todd and Ben and my baby, because they are super friendly and respectful. Ladies, don't hesitate to call!

Mr. Roberts and his son did some work for us about two years ago. I should have written a review then. In any case, we just had a leaking tub knob. I called Mr. Roberts not expecting to get him because it was Sunday right after Thanksgiving. He came the next day and fixed the problem. Knowledgeable, prompt, & friendly service:

My husband & I recently purchased a home and were asked by PG&E to fix the earthquake gas shut off valve to the home's gas line. Todd came out the day that I called him and assessed the situation. I was very impressed by how knowledgeable he was about the issue, including the permitting requirements (the past home owners set it up completely wrong and did not get it permitted). He also took a look at our hot water heater which was having trouble keeping a constant temperature.

In the end he fixed the gas shut off valve the next day and went to the city to get the permit a couple days later. He even cleaned out the filter on the water heater (for free) and provided very detailed next steps for minor and major fixes to the problem. He was very friendly and very helpful. I would definitely call him again when we have a plumbing need (hopefully not too soon...).

Oh my goodness! I called Todd this afternoon and happened to catch him nearby our home and he came over right there and then. Earlier today we discovered a minuscule gas leak. PGE inspected our pipes and shut off our gas, but the serviceman was unable to determine the source of such a slow, minor leak. As DIY remodelers, we were uncertain about how to proceed. Todd walked us through our next steps and also pointed out some other plumbing details that might not pass inspection. He gave us his advice for free, but we'll definitely be calling him back if our own efforts don't turn up the source of our leak. We are so grateful for his expertise and kindness and recommend him highly!

I called Todd to install an earthquake safety valve on my gas meter and I must say he is one of the most professional, respectful, honest plumbers I have ever worked with; plus he's reasonably priced! Shows up on time, works efficiently is an all around pro. Can't recommend him highly enough!

Really great guys! We needed a whole-house water filtration system installed (we bought it from Costco ourselves). It was a pleasure working with them from start to finish.

1. Scheduling
- They were quick to come out and take an assessment and gave us a quote.
- For the actual installation, they were able to get us on their calendar even earlier than originally planned. Worked out great for us, since we wanted the water filtration up and running sooner than later.

2.Pricing
- Their pricing was hundreds of dollars lower than a similar company (we got a few quotes before deciding)
- This was for installation-only. We picked up our own parts.
- For the installation, they requested a few cement boards to use as a base/platform for the water filter, which my husband picked up beforehand. We prefer this, so we can pick up what we want at prices that work for us.

3. Service
- This is a father-and-son team. They were very quick and got everything done in 2.5 hours.
- We did a walk-through when the job was done: They made sure all faucets and water were running smoothly. Plus, we went under the house to see the installed filters. Their work is neat and organized (including a by-pass valve, per my husband's request). They also added straps and 2x4's to ensure the unit was secure.

I called Todd for a pipe burst on a Saturday night. I was looking for emergency help at any cost. He walked me patiently through shutting off the right valves so the whole house wouldn't be without water. Then he referred me to a guy who does irrigation. Todd doesn't even do this type of work--but helped anyway when nobody else would even talk to us for less than a couple hundred bucks. Extremely ethical and would highly recommend him.

WOW. We had water pressure issues and a washer missing from our upstairs shower spout and Todd and Ben came out to take care of business. First things first, they weren't just on-time, they were early; something I LOVE and think is extremely professional. Next, they took maybe 10 minutes to figure out the problem, solved the issue, AND installed a new shower head for us. Todd and Ben walked me through the entire process and even asked if the pricing was okay. I mean, I couldn't have scored a better deal with better gentlemen helping me out! The water heater they installed lasted a year and unfortunately neither TA Roberts nor the water heater company would take responsibility. After calling other plumbers and doing as the water heater company advised the pilot light still kept going out. Finally replaced heater and it's been fine.

Here's the scenario: It's Friday afternoon around 5PM and my water heater goes out. I called TA Roberts and spoke with Todd. He asked for some pictures of the water heater to analyze the issue. He comes back with I can either walk you through fixing the problem or I can be there around 9AM on Saturday. I chose the latter. He fixed the problem within an hour and had the water heater up and running. He went out of his way to help me during my time of need. I highly recommend TA Roberts for all your plumbing needs. Can all of these Yelp reviewers be wrong about him? Absolutely not! Just as promised, he is fantastic! Quick break down:
1) Answered the phone when I called. (Odd how rarely this happens with other plumbers)
2) Was available the same day.
3) Arrived very quickly and right on time.
4) If I may steal the phrase, Uses his head for more than a hat-rack... - Honestly, this guy clearly knows his stuff and uses his brain as often as anything else in his tool box.
5) Was clear and upfront about all costs before he did any work.
6) As I was interested, he explained exactly what he was doing, how, and why so now I know a little bit more about plumbing than I did yesterday.
7) Job was done very well and quite fast.
8) Cleaned up when he was done.
9) Final price was extremely fair. (This was extremely important to me!)
10) To top everything off he was pleasant, courteous, and an all around good guy!

I would not hesitate for a minute recommending him to family, friends, and fellow Yelpers. Do yourself a favor and call this guy first!

*Update*
I made a huge mistake. Todd was away on vacation so I decided to use another plumber for my job. (Leaky shower, slow flow on the kitchen faucet, and a double flushing toilet.) She was also highly rated on Yelp so I thought it would not be a problem. I was wrong. She failed to fix anything, almost broke my faucet, and told me I would need to contact American Standard to order new parts and fix it myself.

Luckily I was smart enough to wait a few days for Todd to come back. He knew what he was doing, fixed the problems with the right tools very quickly, and no special parts or new faucet was required for the kitchen sink.

Lesson learned: if you have any choice at all, always stick with Todd!

***Update 2***
Todd is now working with his son Ben. I believe Ben will be taking over the business soon. While I will be sad to loose Todd, I am happy to report that the apple does not fall far from the tree!

Ben has clearly been very well trained by his dad. I had them both out for a bit of a tricky problem today. After a bit of sleuthing, Ben had an idea of what he thought the problem was, and it turned out he was correct. Ben was fast, left the work area clean, and is looking to be just as friendly and personable as his father. To top it all off, his bill was outstandingly fair.

They have earned a loyal customer for life. Call these guys FIRST! You will not be disappointed!

I called Todd at 9:15 this morning about the failure of my tankless hot water heater. He was at my home to see the situation within the hour, checked his distributor for a replacement, and showed up with Ben and the new heater a half hour later. Within 4.5 hours of my first call, the whole job was done and the total cost was close to the National average of such work (and less than the average cost of most such service in the SF Bay Area). In addition, Todd and Ben were friendly, professional, and good-natured throughout. The job was done before one of the other guys (who has that fancy get a quote Yelp marketing feature) was even available to come take a look. Wow. Bottom line these guys are funny, affordable, and most importantly they are thorough. Very happy with the work they did today. It was my first time calling these guys out to my home and it was a pleasant surprise from some of my past experiences with plumbers. Just purchased a new oven and the old gas line wouldn't fit on it and needed to be replaced. I called these guys up. Sent them a quick picture, they gave me a quick estimate, and believe it or not they found time in their day to squeeze me in in the middle, which was a huge relief since we had no working oven for a day. Todd picked up the phone (2 others plumbers didn't). He was courteous, efficient, and a bit of a joker. A same day appointment. On time. The work was completed, by he and his son, within 3 hours of his arrival.

I failed to ask about appliance efficiency and ended up with an one that was less energy efficient than the outgoing appliance. My mistake. Didn't see the details until it was installed. I am kicking myself. Job was completed within the estimate cost.

As long as you are careful, assume nothing, and be specific about requirements, you should get along fine with Todd and company.

We had Todd install seismic gas valves on the meters of our Alameda Victorian duplex. We called him on Saturday, he responded immediately and scheduled the service for the following Wednesday. He showed up as promised, texting his arrival time, and performed the installation very quickly and efficiently. He made sure all of our gas appliances were re-lit after shutting off the gas. The inspection and permit were completed promptly the next day. Very friendly and professional, and our cats loved him! Highly recommended.

I had made my calls around town to no avail, which drove me nuts. I'm so glad I left a message for these guys because they returned my call, listened to what I needed and made my next day appointment.

Father and son duo--they arrived on time and were all ears. Our condo had a defective drain stop per home inspection report. The fix was a quick, a little too quick, which made me feel bad for dragging them out but not once did they make me feel bothersome or a waste of time! They also helped me uncover another potential problem that was NOT noted in the home inspection report which would save me lots of trouble and money in the long run. I would highly recommend them again and again!

This is without doubt the best experience I had with a plumber. Todd came on short notice within hours of calling. He quickly diagnosed and fixed the problem with the valve connections to the washing machine in minutes. As a courtesy, he also checked out the shower and water heater. Amazingly, he did not even charge us for the visit.

It just shows that Todd is very honest, and probably the most honest and conscientious plumber in the Bay Area.. I am sure most plumbers would have charged a service fee for the visit or fabricated problems to justify a fee.

You're earned my business Todd, and I will recommend you to others without hesitation.

DON'T BOTHER CALLING ANYONE ELSE - THESE GUYS ARE THE ABSOLUTE BEST!!! I had a plumbing, flooding, water heater emergency nightmare. I called 10-15 plumbers and Todd was the only one who could come right away. He and Ben were PROFESSIONAL, RESPECTFUL, EFFICIENT AND FRIENDLY.

They treated me like family, taking care to keep their work area clean and being respectful of me and my property. They had to get creative at one point when a pump I bought from Home Depot didn't work - they ran back to their office to get a wet/dry vac, then returned quickly and took care of the flooding problem - Ben even cleaned up some of the mess that had nothing to do with the flooding, leaving my basement cleaner than it was before the flood. Next, they diagnosed the problem with my water heater and repaired it to perfect working condition - I honestly expected that I would need to replace it at a cost of hundreds (one plumber quoted me nearly $1,000 parts/labor). Todd gave me a very fair price and great advice and suggestions about how to protect my house from similar problems in the future.

THIS WAS BY FAR THE VERY BEST HOME SERVICE EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD! If I could give them 6 stars I would.

There is a lot to be said about a good plumber. Todd and son are great. First, they were very responsive. We were in a huge time crunch and they met our needs very well. We were in the midst of some serious permit issues. The previous owner had done everything without a permit. Todd knew exactly what to fix. He also was able to speak to the inspector so we could get past our problem. He really knows how to deal with inspectors so much better than any other contractor I've worked with.

Also, the work was completed within two days which was seriously impressive. It was an expensive 2 days but worth the price.

I chose TA Roberts Plumbing based on the excellent yelp reviews and I was not disappointed. I contacted Todd to have my hot water heater replaced. Todd was prompt and very thorough. I had mentioned that I was going to see if I qualified to get the energy star rebate through the city. Todd went ahead and checked with the city power company to see if the water heater qualified, which I thought was above and beyond good service. I would definitely use Todd again for any plumbing needs.

Todd fit me in his tight schedule after my tenant thought he had a leak in the kitchen sink. Todd came by and realized the sprayer connector just became loose and nothing had to be done besides re-tightening it up. Most plumbers would've charged a diagnostic fee or something to make-up for their time, but Todd waived all fees. He is now my go-to for plumbing solutions going forward. Thanks much!

We live in South Bay but adult children have condo in Alameda. My very pregnant DIL and Son were having problems with botched shower. Timing as well as expertise was important. This is a local family owned business. Todd came and charged reasonable price and fixed the problem. It is HARD to get a small company but Todd knew we were really stressed, he came on time. He is respectful and a nice guy. If you care about owner owned business he is excellent. He also answers questions in knowledgeable way. My impression is he works hard and is busy. He also has other referrals and I would guess does big jobs. This is a real review I'm realizing some yelps are not.

This is the second time I contacted Todd and both times he came to the rescue.

My water heater broke on a Friday night. I went to Yelp for help and contacted a few plumbers Friday night. The only plumber that returned my call on a Saturday morning was Todd. He make the extra mile to come out my house within an hour. Todd diagnoised the problem in a few minutes and completed the repaired the heater within 40 minutes.

The second time I contacted Todd was just this week. My water heater does not stay lit. Todd came out the next day to look at the water heater again. This time, he suggested that its time to replace the heater. He ordered the water heater and installed the following day. He is the best plumber I ever worked with. Todd is professional and friendly. I highly recommend Todd to anyone and will be using Todd for any future plumber repair.

As a courtesy, he upgraded my water heater to a 50 gallon at no additional cost.

Todd is one class act. My water heater's pilot light inexplicably went out. Todd swung by my house (when I wasn't even home and when it was manned by my teenager and father-in-law), relit the pilot light magically, and didn't even charge me for the trip. I will definitely send business his way because it is this sense of community that I really appreciate in the people with whom I work. So, if you hear an explosion in the West End, that's probably my water heater, and Todd will be the person I call to fix it!

I called Todd to schedule an install of a new garbage disposal that my husband ordered on Amazon. Todd was friendly, patient and helpful from the start. I explained that we were waiting for one more part to arrive and he offered to provide one of his own and suggested that I could just mail him the one from Amazon whenever it arrived. So thoughtful of him! We ended up waiting for the part anyway because of scheduling conflicts but I really appreciated the gesture.

Todd arrived 15 minutes early to our scheduled appointment time and got right to work. He even answered some other plumbing questions my husband had that were completely unrelated to the disposal. (It's always nice to have insight from an expert!)

I recommend Todd and his services 100%. He will be my first call in the future should I need someone of his expertise. It's so nice to encounter local service providers that are knowledgeable, responsive, thoughtful and kind. Truly, such a gem! Thank you, Todd!

We are so pleased to have discovered Todd -- he is professional, prompt, and clearly an expert. He also went the extra mile to help us out, both literally and figuratively.

Our bathtub faucet was leaking, and the leak was quickly turning into a mini-waterfall, filling up buckets at an alarming rate. After calling several plumbers, leaving messages, and getting no response, I phoned Todd at 7 a.m. yesterday. Not only did he answer the phone, he was happy to take my call (even at 7 a.m.!), promptly came over, and diagnosed the problem.

Next I had to call EBMUD and get them to shut off our ancient water valve at the street level since we don't have a shut-off valve in the house... Todd told me exactly what to say in order to get fast service from EBMUD, and it worked like a charm.

Once the water was off, Todd rushed back from another job (all the way over in Berkeley) to get our leak fixed right away -- something he didn't have to do. He even went to the local hardware store to buy the parts we needed and quickly got them installed. No more leak! And despite all the extra time & driving back and forth, he only charged us for parts and labor.

We're so impressed with Todd's level of service, his cheerful & professional way of working, his willingness to explain everything he's doing, and his obvious expertise. We will definitely be calling him again!

Best experience I have ever had with a plumber!

Our shower was leaking big time. I tried to fix it myself and made such a mess of things that we had to keep the water turned off until professional help could arrive. Our regular plumber was busy, so I called Todd. Fortunately, he was able to come right over and get the job done.

Within minutes, he diagnosed the problem and put the faucet back together with new springs and washers. Everything is working perfectly again!

Todd is a straight shooter, professional and a master at his craft. He does quick, effective work at reasonable rates. I recommend him highly and will be using him again.

Todd saved the day AGAIN. Wow.

Our tenant called on a Sunday morning to report water in the walls from the showerhead. I called Todd and jumped in the car. Get this: it was fixed before we arrived! Our tenant, who is a crotchety, scared, abuse survivor said That plumber is really a sweetheart. You don't need to come down, it's all fixed and looks better than it did when he walked in. He was really nice, send him by any time. She called him a 'sweetheart', can you believe it?

How often do you find an efficient, respectful, kind and reliable master craftsman? So far in our life: one. Todd. This is why we rely on him for everything plumbing related.

Got a call about a leak and it turns out it was my water heater. Totally busted and Todd helped me get a new one in. Great customer service and was able to get this done. I bought a water heater at Home Depot and he ended up having to go to a further one because the local Home Depot was out and he didn't charge me any extra. Awesome service and very customer oriented.

Todd is OUTSTANDING.

he is quick, fair, efficient, and obviously takes great pride in his work. he installed a water heater for me after mine started turning itself off for no apparent reason. he acquired the new heater for me, had a colleague help him carry the new one up and the old one down three flights of stairs (sorry, no elevator in our building!), and did it all with a smile and a friendly word. he even showed me how easy it would be to cycle the water every year to extend the life of the heater, and so i wouldn't have to call him to do it.

Todd was very fair on the price, worked with me on payment, and even came down a little when he had to push out our original appointment by about 12 hrs.

i will definitely be using his services for all my plumbing needs in the future.

Todd is an incredible plumber to have around town!! If you ever have any plumbing issues, he'll make sure to fix it for you. About a year ago Todd came out when our sump pump failed, flooded our basement, and took out our water heater. My husband (Derick D.) gave him a well deserved 5 star review.

Todd was back out to our house today to investigate the poor water pressure throughout our house. He checked each faucet/shower for simple solutions like rust or a valve that wasn't open all the way. By doing that he solved about half of our problems. For FREE! So instead of needing a whole house re-pipe like I thought, we're looking at replacing the water main and a few shower parts. Thanks Todd for being honest and dependable.

6/7/11: While attempting to replace my kitchen garbage disposal myself, I found the new model disposal was not exactly the same size and the drain pipe did not line up.

To avoid this turning into an all day project, figuring out how to cut and adjust plastic pipes, I used Google and found TA Roberts Plumbing company, via a Yelp link.

When I called, Todd Roberts answered the call (No vmail or automated system). I explained the situation and Todd offered immediate service or to schedule an appointment. Todd arrived within 15 minutes, discussed options, and quickly completed the repair job.

We are brand new home owners with little experience dealing with the kinds of things you have to deal with when you can't just call your landlord. So, when our kitchen faucet broke suddenly last night, I turned to yelp for help. Thank you, yelp, for helping me find Todd. He's the most amazing plumber ever (in my limited experience of plumbers). Fast, prompt, friendly, helpful, personable, and with no plumber's crack in sight, Todd gave us our options, and fixed our faucet for a great price. I was starting to have a panic attack of the what have we gotten ourselves into with this house thing type, but now I'm back to my normal calm cool self.

All is well, except now I've gotta go do some dishes.

Todd, and his son, Ben were AMAZING! We had a sump pump and water heater break right before Christmas, and called a bunch of people who couldn't come. Ben called us Saturday evening, and when he heard that we hadn't had hot water for 3 days, he said he was coming over first thing Sunday morning. He needed to get parts, so the job had to wait until Monday.

Here's what impressed me about Todd and Ben:
They were really responsive (another company offered to schedule the work for January 6--meaning we wouldn't have had hot water for 2 weeks! Todd came out on a Sunday morning with no extra weekend charge).
They were reasonably priced (in fact, 1/3 of the price of one of the bigger, well known companies)
They were prompt (both times Todd came, he was early!)
They were really neat (they even cleaned up the mess the flood had caused)
They did a great job.
They were super nice.

Emergency plumbing problems are the kind of thing you hope never happens, but they do. I'm glad I found Todd, and will certainly use him for ANY future plumbing issues. I'd give him 10 stars, if I could!

Todd was amazing. We had a hot water issue in our condo and Todd came out and took a look and then contacted the manufacturer and found out that we, as owners, could request the replacement part for free, which we did. And once we got the product, Todd came out and replaced it in a very timely manner. He was very professional and responsive. We will definitely use him again for future plumbing issues.

We recently hired Todd to replace our sewer line, and he and his crew did an excellent all-around job. When I called Todd, he got back to me right away, and was over at the house the next day. He gave me a competitive estimate, and explained exactly how they would perform the job. He has a congenial personality, and was up front about all the costs and time involved in the job.

His crew was professional and hard working, and went the extra mile by matching the rock/cement pattern in our driveway after they dug up a small section of the sewer line. Todd followed up after the job to make sure everything was to our satisfaction, and offered some free advice on a few other plumbing issues in the house.

I won't hesitate to call Todd and his crew the next time we have a plumbing issue.

Ok...so we wanted to see Todd again...asked him to come back and help with phase one of our remodel project. He gave good advise, was willing to work with our requests and suggestions, and offered a competitive bid. We felt like a priority to him and his apprentice.

Had a few minor plumbing issues to deal with in a new/old house we just moved into. With all the other home projects completed or in progress I just got tired of thinking about another project to work on. Found Todd on Yelp and saw all the great reviews. Needless to say, he lived up to them.

Had Todd and Marquise (sp?) come over to help with a re-plumb of a p-trap, remove and install 2 new master bath faucets, and a quick removal and capping off of a hot water tap in the kitchen. They were efficient and Todd was always communicative and polite. In the end the price was fair and the work was good. Beware of their banter. It's worse than a bad married couple but more amusing.

Would definitely recommend them and use them again.

Fast, efficient, friendly,and conscientious.
We called TA about our leaking water heater, and Todd was over within a few hours. We had known our 18 year old one had been one it's way out for awhile, so wasn't surprised when he suggested we should replace it.
TA helped inform us about the permits (I guess Alameda needs some more money), and got a new energy efficient heater installed 2 days later (it wasn't an emergency situation). TA kept in contact during the process and checked back a day later to see if all was well. A couple days later he came back over and cleaned out one our sink valves the had become clogged due to debris in the pipes from the switch-out.
Prices seemed fair and a pleasure to work with.

Todd is an awesome plumber. I would reiterate what the other reviewers have noted below about him being very prompt, courteous, and actually showing up early for an appointment.

He replaced our water heater within a day of the first visit, and the job was done very professionally and efficiently. We could have shopped around, but based on our experience with him, we would absolutely recommend his services.

5 Stars for sure! Everything I could ask for in a plumber, at a fair price.

My need was on Monday Dec 24th, Christmas Eve. Todd picked up my call from his cell at about 7:30am and was happy to meet me that morning. He quickly fixed two fairly basic leaks in my toilet and my shower. He was polite, professional, and talked me through the entire process, giving me a good education at the same time. He only charged me $95, which was a bit lower than another guy had quoted.

Everything was spot on, and I would highly recommend Todd to anyone of my friends.

Todd is fantastic. I rent a beautiful, old Victorian in Alameda. The architecture is phenomenal, but the functionality can leave something to be desired. I called Todd because the bolt holding down one of our toilets broke off in the hands of a 10-month old baby! It was rusty, disgusting and definitely caused panic with his mom.

I found Todd on Yelp and asked him for some help. He was really informative on the phone and even more so in person. He was able to get on the phone with my landlady and make sure they okayed him starting before he did anything (a very annoying, but necessary step). This was no easy feat, since it can be difficult to make a decision from the other side of the country when you can't see what is going on!

It took longer to talk with my landlady than it did to fix the toilet. Once he took it off, we took a look together at the what had caused the leak and the ensuing damage - rotting floor, gaps around the drain pipe, crooked flange - and discussed the safety of the situation. Erring for the least expensive option in the moment, my landlady authorized new seals and having the toilet rebolted, but we are going to have to wait for more estimates to repair the rot and other damage that is now hidden under the toilet.

I'll definitely be calling Todd to come back as one of the plumbers asked to do estimates and I'll be pushing for my landlady to let him do the work. I've seen how efficient and accurate he is.

After Todd rebolted the toilet down, we were having some problems with the water flow going into the tank on the same toilet. As soon as I got a hold of him, Todd came out the same morning - on his day off - and replaced the mechanism that refills the tank in less than 5 minutes! The toilet is purring like a kitten (if you can say that about a toilet) and we are super happy!

Todd is the best plumber EVER!!! He acted as general contractor to fix a botched kitchen remodel and has done a fabulous job coordinating everything.

I would definitely recommend him to anyone that needs plumbing services. And he also knows other trade contractors that are reliable and do good work as well.

Todd and Ben were great. They were able to come out within a couple of hours after I called, which was incredible. We are having our kitchen remodeled and they hooked up our new sink, garbage disposal and dishwasher - as well as took a look at a small issue with a running toilet in our bathroom. We just had a mini plumbing emergency (hot water wouldn't shut off in the bath). I called our Number One Plumber but he unfortunately wasn't available. So he referred me to Todd. I knew I could trust Todd because Ed would only refer someone who both knew what he was doing and did it with integrity.

So, I called Todd and he was at my house within an hour. He is friendly, knowledgeable and takes the time to share that knowledge. He did a great job and left everything working well and nice and clean.

Now I have an official Number Two Plumber :) I have no hesitation to call him again if Ed was not available and am happy to recommend his work!

Extremely pleasant, professional, and efficient. I had new construction and the plumbing was off. The former contractor tried a few things but the shower still wasn't right. I have to echo the glowing reports that Todd's other customers have given him.

The problem was a water hammer in the kitchen sink that had started a few days earlier and was getting worse.

Today is the day after Thanksgiving. I couldn't do the dishes from dinner because the water hammer prevented enough water pressure, plus there was the jackhammering going on loud enough that my next door neighbor came over to see what was up. The last thing you want to have to do on a holiday weekend is call a plumber because you know they will be busy and darned expensive just for coming out.

Let me say that when I called, Todd answered (what? no voicemail and no having to wait for a call back?), I explained the problem, he came immediately, and very quickly was able to diagnose that the problem was in my faucet-mounted Pur water filter, and fortunately not in the pipes.

Prompt, businesslike, friendly, knowledgeable, intelligent, a complete professional and a pleasure to deal with.

And he charged me very little, in spite of the holiday. So happy to know who to call in the future.

He was accommodating in working around our (very tight) schedule and modifications to our planned work, and struck me as a very good man in general. My girlfriend and I purchased and moved into a condo together just over two months ago. First place either of us has owned. This morning something in the shower handle went wrong. I had no idea what was going on, but knew that I couldn't turn the water off. I called Todd in a fairly medium state of panic and he arrived in 30 minutes.

While he was in transit I learned this water problem was not isolated to my shower and had to shut off the emergency water valve for the whole building. When he arrived a small crowd of angry residents had gathered. When you call for a plumber you don't expect someone who can calm a crowd while remaining professional, focused, and friendly.

This was my first emergency situation and, in addition to fixing the problem, Todd was able to calm me down and explain what happened in simple terms.

He was thorough and made sure all precautions were taken before turning the water back on. According to my phone logs this took approximately one hour and thirty minutes from the time of his arrival.

If you are panicking and looking for any number to call then you would be extremely fortunate if his was the one you stumbled across.

I called the first time and I think Ben answered. Not very professional. Did I interrupt something important? l made an appointment regardless, mainly due to Yelp reviews. Todd came out with his son (in training). I saw rust by an old toilet supply valve and thought the pipe needed to be removed or replaced. Todd inspected and saw the pipe was still good. He just replaced the old valve. The old toilet I had already removed. I told Todd I was buying and installing a new toilet. He advised I look for a Toto and installed a new ring on the toilet flange. I didn't know to measure the rough-in. Todd missed that too as he installed the new ring on the flange. The rough-in was only 8 due to being an old house. Most toilets now are 12 rough-in. After my Amazon.com Toto toilet was delivered, unpacked, and ready to install, I realized it didn't fit. I was stuck. I called TA Roberts. Got the answer machine and left a message. I also texted Todd with pictures. Two days later I called a second time and voicemail was full. I texted 3 more times over the next 5 days. I finally got a return call. Todd was on his cell and said he would call me back to make an appointment with me. After no return call I waited two more days then started texting again. I wrote in a text I was under time constraint as there is a time limit on when Amazon.com takes a toilet as a return. On the 4th text, 8 days later, I said, Hi Todd, Any chance of hearing from you today? Eight (8) days after he said he would call, he called and left a message. He said to text him in the evening and he would call right back. I texted, got no reply. 7 days later and still no reply. Very unprofessional. I didn't think I would have to beg and wait weeks just to try to set up an appointment. Really? I picked another Yelp plumber. A receptionist answered. I was shocked! The plumber returned my call on the same day. He came out the next day and did all the work within three days of initial contact. He did excellent work. Good luck getting TA Roberts to return a text or phone call. Seems great Yelp reviews has made customer service or need a thing of the past. To recap; initial call 5/11, today is 5/30 and still no return call to set up an appointment.

What a pleasant surprise! Just when we thought outstanding service was obsolete - we meet Todd. Our water heater broke last night and water was flooding our garage and foyer.

We called our normal plumber and one other because of the late hour....no answer from either. We called Todd and he said let me put my boots back on and I'll be right over! He was here in 20 minutes and set up a hose to drain the water out of the garage and fixed a few things so we had water for the evening. He was back the next morning by 9:00am with a crew to replace our water heater. In less than 18 hours we were good as new.

Todd was friendly, fast and delightful to work with. He even fixed our leaky toilet while he was here. We have a new plumber and won't be calling anyone else next time. Thanks Todd for turning a bad situation into great experience.

I called Todd this morning (thanks to Yelp), he came at 5 the same day to accommodate my schedule, fixed my sump pump (a big plastic piece was jammed in) and ordered a piece with me to fix my faucet - and did not charge me since we need to wait for the faucet piece!

Short: Highly Recommend! I like this/these guys. Will contact them again next time. Professional and trustworthy. Will NOT rip you off...

Details: My hot water pipe from my water heater was leaking. Called a few places that didn't answers (thankfully). Contacted TA Roberts who said he could be at my house in an hour which was perfect. He came on time. Asked if he could come in with his shoes. Normally I wouldn't let guests, but I let him and really appreciated he asked.
He saw the problem gave me the estimate which seemed fair. (I really didn't have anything to compare it to.) He worked really hard to get the problem done correctly. Fixed everything and cleaned up after themselves. (There was a second guy who was really nice as well. Looked like he was in training) They both made sure that the water heater was working properly and that they have covered all the bases even staying a little bit longer to make sure the hot water was coming out of all the faucets and showers.

Summary: I'm glad I got lucky and found TA Roberts Plumbing on my first shot. Now I have a plumber I feel comfortable calling.

An old galvanized pipe under the kitchen sink finally gave way and was leaking. Made appointments with two other plumbing companies rated highly on Yelp. The two plumbers gave me completely different opinions, including going through the wall. Todd and Ben came on Thursday evening at 5:00 pm gave the clearest explanation of what needed to be done and knew the Alameda city regulations. Because I could not take off work the next day they stayed and worked after 5:00 to replace the pipe. Ended up charging me half of what he quoted because the job didn't take as long as he thought it would! They could have charged me the $500, as I am sure others may have, but Todd is too honest. The cost was less than the other quotes as well. I now have a go to plumber.

Our sump pump stopped working and subsequently our basement flooded and we didn't know what to do, so my wife looked on Yelp and found TA Roberts Plumbing.

We called at 7:35 am because business hours were listed as 7:30am to 5:30 - we immediately got an answer and within less than an hour Todd was at our place pumping out the water from our basement. He replaced the sump pump and discovered that it was actually our hot water heater that was leaking water. The old heater needed to be replaced and Todd did it on the spot. In less than 5 total hours he had completely drained the water (8 inches standing), installed a new sump pump and water heater and removed the disposed of the old heater.

I couldn't be happier with Todd's service, he's really great. Todd is an uber professional, super friendly and a genuinely good person. If you ever have any plumbing needs, don't hesitate to call TA Roberts.

Another 5 star review. I found Todd on Yelp. Called him, he actually answered, and was here less than 30 minutes later. I needed an exterior hose spigot replaced as well as some drips fixed (aka washers replaced) in my brand new irrigation setup that I'd put together myself. Todd was super friendly, fixed everything easily, and gave me some free advice about my water heater, some parts I should consider replacing. He was not pushy at all, just honest, sharing his experience, and I appreciated that.

Obviously by the number of people rating Todd so highly he is great! I found him on Yelp, and called him because of the ratings, and am very glad I did. He worked on a bathroom remodel for us along with a tiler and we LOVE our new bathroom!

As most of the other reviews say, Todd is the consummate professional, courteous, responsive, prompt, and just a really nice guy. He works quickly and efficiently and his handiwork is impeccable, a truly skilled craftsman! I have no qualms about recommending Todd for your plumbing needs. Todd helped us in a pitch. We had flooring installed, but the waste plumbing wasn't done while the floor was out, so the toilet couldn't be reinstalled.

Todd explained our options where another plumber might have just added extra wax rings and been out of there. There was another complication where we needed to cut some tiling. Todd recommended really good people to get this done.

Throughout the process Todd was easy to reach by phone and prompt to respond and get the job done. He is also quite the character and that made it easy to work with him too.

I called Todd to install 5 sink faucets, and the associated plumbing, to sinks in our kitchen and bathrooms. He was able to squeeze us in the next day, which was much appreciated. He was responsive, reliable, quick and efficient, and did great work. He was also very respective of our family and home, which I appreciated. His cost was reasonable, especially considering the last minute nature of the job. I would not hesitate to have Todd do additional work in our home - and would recommend him to anyone else looking for plumbing work.

I've worked with Todd for years, even had him help me when he worked part time at the local hardware store ages ago. Todd is my Go-To plumber, my first choice when I need any kind of plumbing help.
Todd is a Terrific Plumber, but a Lousy Secretary and I told him that to his face the last time he did a repair at my house. We both had a brief laugh. I said that because he is sometimes hard to reach by phone and I don't think he has a work email set up for business. My suggestion is to keep calling him. He's too busy fixing somebody's pipes, valves, or leaks to be chatting on the phone. He's worth hiring because his work is excellent, he explains what he is doing and why, and his prices are excellent.
When I told a co-worker what he charged me for his last visit, my co-worker couldn't believe me. Todd will continue to be my first choice for any plumbing needs. He's also my second choice if my first choice doesn't call me back.

Solid job on installing automatic earthquake shut off valves at an apartment complex. Todd knows how to better secure the gas pipes when needed, and also went above and beyond by adding some touch up paint to the pipes. He made sure to be efficient with time and scheduled the sign off by the city on the same day, and he passed with flying colors. He also put in some flexible pipes on the water heater. His prices were also reasonable and cost competitive. A solid bet to make your apartment complex more earthquake resilient!

Todd is a fantastic plumber and has been a life saver on any number of occassions for us. he is prompt, does an excellent job, and is a pleasure to work with with a nice personality and sense of humor.

My water heater wouldn't stay on and the gas stove also wouldn't work.
PGE gave me an appointment for 3 days from now, so I called around and the only person to give me hope that they would come today were Todd and his son!
In fact they came over less than 1 hour after I called them! They looked at the gas main and realized immediately that the automatic gas shutoff had been triggered by some gardening we had done yesterday. They fixed it in 2 seconds and turned the water heater back on.
Needless to say, I felt sorry for having them come over for such a simple fix... but I'm so glad I now have a plumber I can count on!

I'm a local Plumbing contractor in Alameda and was out of town. On January 18- 2012 I was called to check out a broken water main line. I did not want to lose a customer for being out of town.
I needed someone to fix this water mainline and also do a very good job.

Best plumbing company I've ever worked with. I wish I had called him sooner. They came within 30 minutes of my call after a busy holiday weekend and fixed my leaky gas fireplace shutoff valve in 5 minutes. I've had other plumbers look at it in the past and say nothing was wrong. Pge was worried they might have to go into the drywall and Todd wanted to avoid that if possible. Charged me $65 for a service fee call but it was worth it. This gas leak has been worrying us for over a year and it was a really quick fix with the right person.

Prompt, professional, straightforward. I felt like we were in great hands. So happy I found them.

I don't have a lot to add that hasn't already been said. Todd is amazingly prompt, does excellent work, has reasonable prices and is one of the friendliest guys I have ever met. My kids love him too.

The first job Todd did for us was replacing our hot water heater. He installed a larger tank and brought the valves, plumbing and strapping around the tank up to code. His price for this job was considerably less than an estimate I received from one of the larger plumbing companies on the island.

I called Todd for the second time tonight. It was about 6 p.m. when I noticed a new water feature in our kitchen. The water line to our refrigerator had broken. I immediately looked under the sink for a shut-off valve, but couldn't find one. Thankfully, Todd's card was still on the refrigerator. Within 10 minutes, Todd was here. He located the shut-off valve under the house, and disconnected the old water line. Kitchen flood avoided! He even mopped up the puddle and gunk from behind my refrigerator.

I highly recommend Todd. He's definitely our new go-to guy for anything plumbing related.

Tod (& Son) - Par excellence! Efficient, fast, informative, kind, and $ reasonable (given that I called pretty late in the day).
There was a leak in the shower shut-off, water was running at least a gallon an hour. I had to shut the water off at the street main it was so bad. Visions of walls being ripped out and thousands of $$ spent - so very scary and depressing.
Tod arrived in less than 15 minutes, checked it out and informed me he had the needed part in his truck. The old, decroded, o-ringless, part out, the shiny new part in, all other components back together in less than 30 minutes. He even tightened a part of the kitchen faucet sprayer when he noticed it was loose. (I thought it was a feature.)
When the time came to talk payment I was so surprised by the total I even threw in a tip.
The man is the plumber God as far as I'm concerned. Thank you plumber-god Tod, you single-handedly saved my day.

I feel so lucky to have found Todd. He did a big re-piping project at my home in Alameda, replacing all the pipes coming into the house. He did a fantastic job and gave us some great advice that we didn't need to replace a water heater we had planned to replace. Sure enough, once he finished his work, the hot water came into the shower instantaneously--the problem had just been the pipes all along and the water heater really was fine. Plus, afterward he texted me I wish I could Yelp you guys you're about the best customers I've ever had. I'm pretty sure he says that to allllll the customers, but I still feel pretty darn special. I had tried to fix a hot water issue in the shower and it worked but the problem came back and I felt I needed professional help. I called several places that had great yelp reviews but no one came out to Richmond. Wow, just WOW!!! Todd is amazing!! I think he is hiding a super hero cape in his van, because I just don't know how else he could always be on time to appointments, get the part he diagnoses that we need and get back and fix it in such short time, and then charge almost nothing

I also really like how he shows you what the problem is, makes sure you fully understand, then explains how he is going to fix it, and then actually fixes the problem in like MARVEL SUPERHERO TIME!

I called him this morning because our shower faucet was leaking. He quickly diagnosed it (even dealing with a stripped screw), had to go out to get the part necessary, and still finished in less than 1 1/2 hours!!!! Then he charged me a pittance, and I had to make him repeat it to make sure I hadn't miss heard. Have you ever heard of $85 for 1 1/2 hours, and not charging for the part?!?!

I am also sick with a cold, and as he was going to get the part, he asked if I needed anything, I jokingly said I needed to get some eggs for a cake recipe, and he actually offered to get them!! I didn't take him up on the offer, but that's way above and beyond, and that is Todd.

Lastly, the job was done, and he still took the extra time to give some attention to our old and ailing kitty. He's is just THE BEST!!!

I had a water heater emergency and on the Friday before Labor Day and I was afraid I'd never find anyone to help me. I called Todd (had been given his name by Pagonno's Hardware Store) and he said he'd be able to take a look at it in the afternoon.

When I turned on my kitchen faucet this morning, water gushed out from the cabinet underneath the sink. I saw that the pipe had sprung a whopper of a leak. My usual plumber was booked for a week. I found T.A. Roberts online and, remarkably enough, he answered my call. He promised to come over as soon as he finished with his current job. He was prompt, upbeat, efficient, and reasonably priced. He replaced the pipe, checked for structural damage, and gave me great leak-prevention advice. The guy is a miracle worker.

Best experience with a tradesman I've had since moving to the Bay Area. I had a leaky tub faucet and called. Todd said he could come over within an hour. No way could I get an appointment that fast, but amazingly he and his apprentice were here in 45 minutes. They were friendly, fun, and efficient. Neither talked down to me because I am a woman, which has often been my experience with other tradesmen. They explained the problem, got the part, installed it, and kept me smiling the whole time.

The rate charged was reasonable and the service was fantastic. I will never use another plumber again.

What a delightful experience! So - I called Todd to take care of a whistling pipe and previously got a quote from a different company for $700 (really?), saying the water pressure regulator would need to get replaced. To save on cost for shopping, I got the parts and wanted Todd to put them in. Todd looked at the old regulator, took a wrench to it and fixed the whistling in a minute. The guy from the other company didn't even touch it. In addition, Todd and his son were on time, even early, super nice and seemed very knowledgable. And - may I say - they had a nice and clean truck (somehow that expresses that they really care about their business to me).
I know - this wasn't a real job allowing me to judge their full scope of work but I can certainly say - if I need a plumber for something real, I will certainly call them first. I appreciate their honesty and straightforwardness.

Oh wait, I AM missing something!... a response at all to my voice mail and text message that I sent this company for a new service request. I called and left a vmail on Thurs Sept 15, 2016... zero response. I also texted their number on Mon Sept 19, 2016 (because their phone greeting said to do so) with a detailed service request... again zero response. Maybe their service is good if you win their call-back lottery... I have no idea because apparently I lost the call-back lottery. Obviously, I am going elsewhere. You may want to play the lottery with them, or maybe not.

This is a long overdue review. At the beginning of this year, my basement flooded and took my water heater. Todd came to the rescue, installed a sump pump and replaced my hot water heater in the same day. Fast forward half a year late to today, something tripped up the safety valve on my water heater unbeknownst to me. Todd came, reset the gas valve, and off I go with hot water. Todd was so kind and didn't charge me for this visit. Thank goodness there are folks like Todd and his son.

Saw all of the positive reviews on Yelp for Todd and Ben. They can't possibly be this great, can they? Well...they are! Had a water heater that was leaking pretty heavily. When I called Todd, he scheduled an appointment to look at the problem the next day. He was here on time...actually, better than on time (he called to say he could get here 45 minutes early). Todd and Ben couldn't have been nicer. Explained what they were going to do in layman's terms so I actually understood what was going on. What I feared (replacing the water heater) was actually a relatively simple fix, and CONSIDERABLY less expensive than replacing the water heater. Once they were done, they cleaned the work area and made it exponentially nicer than before they arrived. They're awesome!

Our water heater was on a slow death spiral. We called a couple plumbers and left messages but got no reply. After looking on Yelp we called TA Roberts and he answered the call live and in person on the first try!! We called Wednesday and Todd said that he could come out Thursday and check out the water heater and also help us with our drip irrigation control valves that were leaking. Todd indeed arrived Thursday morning, checked out the water heater and irrigation control valves and recommended fixes, including a water shut off valve right next to the water heater so that if we had a problem in the future with the water heater we wouldn't have to shut ALL the water off to the house, just that one valve.

Long story short, Todd asked when we would be available the next week to do the install and we agreed on the following Thursday. Todd and his son Ben arrived at the agreed time, took out the old water heater and then went to pick up the new one. To our pleasant surprise, when they came back they brought a 50 gallon water heater instead of the 40 gallon one we had previously. Todd explained that it was only a bit more expensive, so they got it but didn't charge us any more than the original agreed price . YIPPEE.

They replaced the water heater, cleaned up, then did a TERRIFIC job on the drip irrigation controls so that we can now change them out without having to cut pipes. They also put in water shut off valves for each of the drip control lines. We couldn't be happier. In fact, we were so pleased that we recommended them to our next door neighbor who promptly called them and had them come over to fix some plumbing issues.

To top it off, Todd and Ben have great senses of humor and are fun to work with. They are now our go to plumbers for any future needs.

Recently purchased a home and was told by one of the inspectors the guest bathroom had a leak under the shower. The inspector warned me that he couldn't identify the source of the leak and suspected the entire bathroom floor would need to be demolished to reseal the shower casing. Total estimated cost: $8,000

I called Todd and had him look at the shower and a couple other minor things I noticed about the home. He explained each issue very clearly, how to easily resolve them, and when he took a look at the shower leak he determined that a simple tightening of the drain pipe was all that was needed. Total cost $65 for less than 30 min on site. He's also one of the nicest guys I have met.

If I have any issues in the future, I will definitely be giving him a call.

Todd just came by last minute to take a look at my dishwasher that was leaking. I called him, explained my issue and he was here in 15 minutes! He was AWESOME! First time I liked and trusted someone right off the bat. He cleared out the water, showed me how to do it for the next time and checked all the pipes to make sure it wasn't a plumbing problem. He also looked at some other actual plumbing issues I was also having in our apartment and fixed them too. Really nice guy and really knows what he's doing. I highly recommend him! With a reference from Paganos Hardware, I called Todd at 5pm on a Thursday night, and he called back immediately. He suggested coming over to do my small repair the next day, Friday, but I had to be at work. So, true to form, he offered to do the job that evening. Luckily I live in the area and he was just 5 minutes away. He was in and out in about 20 minutes and i had a working bathroom sink, in time for the weekend. So awesome!

He described everything he was doing as he was doing it; very helpful and informative. My Dad was so impressed that he asked if he would do work out in Danville. Finding someone local clearly has its benefits, but sometimes you have to look outside your community for a good plumber!

I was stoked to find a plumber near my house in Alameda with great reviews here, so I called Todd to see if he would run a gas line to the outside of my house for my new barbecue. He answered his phone while crawling around under someone's house (!) and we set up a time to meet and get an estimate.

Todd showed up when he said he would, worked with me to understand what I wanted and educate me on the issues, and gave a reasonable, fair estimate. The next day he came by to do the work when he said he would, finished on time, and even hooked up and tested my barbecue when he was done. He charged me exactly what he estimated.

I'll be using Todd for all my plumbing needs as long as he wants to stay in Alameda.

Earlier reviews that say that Todd is difficult to reach do not match my experience. I called, he answered. He replaced our kitchen faucet and garbage disposal that afternoon. It's 5:15 on a Tuesday evening and all I had to do was replace a dripping spigot. Easy enough except I guess I'm strong as hell and tore the brass pipe like it was paper. Found Todd Roberts on Yelp, all five star reviews and he's worth each one. He replaced my water heater, re-plumbed my new bathroom and fixed a big mess left behind by earlier plumbers - scary what you find when you start tearing old walls down.

I was referred to Todd from Ed with Bonafide Plumbing after Ed said he would not be able to get to me until the weekend to snake my sink. Upon calling Todd he too told me that he would not be able to get out for a few days but he knew someone else that I could call and probably get them out today. I took his advice and sure enough got someone to come out in less than an hour. Not only did Todd send work to a fellow plumber but called me back ten minutes later to make sure that I had gotten someone to come out and do the job. Being a Craftsman myself I really appreciate the fact that Todd was willing to go out of his way and help me with my problem even though there was no direct financial benefit for himself.

The Introduction: I called TA Roberts after being overcharged and underserved by another national company, when a leak was found in the house. Todd and Ben are AWESOME!!!! They were able to come out within the hour, and give me a quote that was almost half what the other guy quoted. Todd made recommendations and was flexible in scheduling an appointment with my crazy schedule.

The work: Todd and Ben showed up on time and ready to work. Todd was great about pointing out a long-standing issue; and proceeded to do the work. They took great care of my home, and cleaned the damage that had been done by the original leak.

The Aftermath: The work looked great! Todd explained what was done, walked the site with me to ensure I could review job, and answered all the questions I had.

After mentioning that the water pressure in the bathroom was nil; Ben looked at it, and had it back to normal in a few minutes.

Best of all the total bill was less than quoted!

I am thrilled to have found TA Roberts Plumbing, it's a relief to have found an honest plumber I can rely on.

Let me add to the chorus of praise for Todd. I came home last week to find a ruptured water heater. Ran upstairs and searched for well-reviewed plumbers and found him. Called, and even though it was 5:39, and so after hours, Todd answered, explained over the phone how to shut down the water heater, realized that it was such a mess that I couldn't do it myself, leapt in his truck and drove on up to Oakland to help. This was a great kindness.

We arranged for him and his son to come the next day and replace the broken heater. In the morning, I decided I should replace the other water heater as well. This barely added any time to the job - they dashed off to get another one, and installed it. Back when I was going to just replace the broken water heater, Todd was already planning on fixing some poorly installed things on the remaining heater, and doing it for free. Their work was clean and neat and looks great, and everything works just fine. I really appreciated the follow-up call not long after to make sure things were working well, and the help via telephone unclogging one of the sinks. I'm very glad to have hired Todd, and will definitely work with him again!

Go figure that my first time writing a Yelp review is for a plumbing company! But Todd & his son/apprentice Benjamin really helped my husband and I out in a pinch. I discovered a leak in my crawl space, and as a new homeowner, completely freaked out. Todd came out within a few hours of my call (he came at 4:30 or 5pm on a Tuesday night!) and assessed the problem - likely a rusted nail that pierced the piping from shoddy workmanship on the house before I bought it. He couldn't fix it that night but at least plugged the leak with a cap.

He and Benjamin came back out two days later to really complete the job - it really was a nail in a pipe! They had to cut through drywall to fix the problem, but they didn't carve out a giant unnecessary hole, and didn't leave a mess, which I appreciated. Even shuffled along in booties to minimize the dirt. On TOP of fixing the pipe and leak, they graciously helped me stack sandbags along my house in preparation for the storm (it was their suggestion that I get sandbags in the first place), AND they took a look at my water heater that was beeping intermittently and helped me figure out the right setting for it. They really went above and beyond the call of duty.

So to wrap up - they were two great guys who really broke down the problem, didn't try to speak over my head with jargon, really understood the value of customer service, gave me a fair price, and were just really pleasant people to work with. As a new homeowner, I appreciate feeling a sense of trust with people who do work on things that I have knowledge of. And to top it off, they were dog friendly! We're keeping their card, and will be sure to call them if/when the next plumbing issue arises. Thanks Todd & Benajmin!!

2 nights ago, I noticed a very heavy drip from my water heater's relief tube. The next morning, I called TA Roberts, and Mr Roberts immediately picked up the phone. I described the problem, and texted him a photo. Within a couple of hours, he called me back, and set up an appointment for the same afternoon. He showed up on time, with a phone call to let me know he was on the way. Mr Roberts quickly determined what was wrong, and explained it to me. Within a few minutes, it was repaired. Mr Roberts was prompt, thorough, and really fun to talk to. As I told him before he left, I am looking forward to my next plumbing problem, so that I can call him again.

My Monday started with my kitchen sink backing up. Yippee! I am a dyi kind of woman so I took a look at it - made a couple of attempts ended up with a mess and decided to try a professional this time. Looked at Yelp found T.A. Roberts Co. with great reviews. Calles at 7:55. Todd said he could get here at 9:30 arrived at 9:20 resolved my issue in about 30 minutes and charged a reasonable fee. Very personable and professional. Should I have a requirement for a plumbing contractor, that bathroom is hopefully being remodeled next year, I would definitely call T.A. Roberts Co.

Incredibly fast, professional plumbers! They were done fixing my leaky toilet within 1.5 hours of my calling for an appointment. I could not ask for more. Also they were a very nice family - good people. Really really impressed all around - I'll certainly call them next time I need a plumber. Our issue wasn't complicated (leaky wax seal on the bottom of the toilet) but they were able to diagnose it instantly and fix it super fast, and my bathroom looks great afterwards- totally clean.

He is prompt, knowledgeable, professional, and friendly as well as reasonably priced and honest. This is the fourth or fifth time that Todd has come to the rescue at our condo!

the first several times was for minor repairs but the last time was a major repair. Todd was quick, responsive, clear and FAIR!! He comes in assesses the damage is able to articulate the issue that is clearly understood, which is vital for someone like me that knows nothing about plumbing.

I was finally tired of listening to the shower drip in the middle of the night and decided to do something about it. After the first plumber was not responsive, I found Todd through Yelp. He answered my call right away and stopped by shortly after I described my problem. He was very professional and courteous. He explained that he needed to replace a part and returned immediately after getting the replacement part from his office. He was pretty honest about the cost for the replacement part and the cost of the call. He even returned the next day to make a quick adjustment. This is truly a local, small business! Todd is the owner and has been training his son to take over the family business he has built by himself. It was very nice of Todd to share his story with me. Todd and his son are amazing! First of all, it's super easy to get Todd on the phone. And the customer service is just about the best I've ever experienced. Like most of you, I am a busy person. When I found out that my busy day started with water leaking from pipes under the kitchen sink and water spilling out from the base of the drinking faucet of my Watts Premier RO-Pure 4-Stage Reverse Osmosis System, my heart sank. To fix water leaks is always a priority. Instead of going to work, I got on my computer to research on the best plumber I could find who could fix the water leak in the shortest possible time.

I know what to look for in an ideal plumber:
(1) able to diagnose and fix the problems fast
(2) short response time
(3) affordable. After all, I want a plumber to fix my plumbing problems, not to take me to the cleaners.
(4) honest. Since I do not know much about plumbing, I feel vulnerable. I need someone who I can trust.
(5) safe. You do not want to let someone in your home who may return to rob you in future.
(6) clean. No messy water marks and dirty shoe prints in my kitchen and carpets.
I know to find all the above qualities in a person are difficult. However, I got lucky. With help from Yelp, I found T.A. Roberts Plumbing Co. I called the company in the morning and was able to get an appointment the same day. Todd showed up on time. He was able to fix the leaks within 30 minutes. He was scored straight As in all of my selection criteria above. Wow! That's impressive.

We noticed our toilet was leaking, called Todd around 12:15, he gave us an appointment at 2, called us to say he was finished early and offered to come at 1. It's 1:45 now and he's finishing up the entire job!

First off, if you need a plumber call Todd. This guy's not only is a great plumber, he's a great guy. We asked him to come and fix a mess left by another plumbing company, let's call them Seabird Plumbing. We've had a leak in the shower since Seabird did a complete bathroom remodel 6 months ago. Seabird said the leaking water wasn't their fault. I'm no plumber, but leaking water seems like a plumber's thing, right? We felt frustrated, dismayed, and frankly embarrassed that we spent thousands of dollars and still ended up with a leaky shower. We felt duped. We were somewhat reluctant to have to call a new plumber to fix Seabird's mess. We were worried that a new plumber would not/could not fix some other company's mess or that we'd be duped again. But what are you gonna do?

We called Todd based on his the reviews on Yelp. He called back quickly, seemed cool when I explained the mess, and we arranged for him to come over the next morning for an estimate/consultation. He showed promptly at the arranged time and didn't seem to mind when our dog jumped all over him. Right off the bat, we felt comfortable with Todd. He is very professional, friendly, funny, and his obvious competence put us immediately at ease. As we showed him the other plumber's handiwork he pointed out things that weren't done right, things that were missing, and things he would do differently, things he knows from his 25+ years in the business. He spent an hour at the house diagnosing the problem and coming up with the solution. We hired him on the spot. He explained his thoughts and told us to have the tiler come back for a little fix and told us to call Kohler and ask for some free replacement parts, things the original plumber lost/broke/left out. Then we asked him how much we owed him and he just smiled and refused to take any money. He just seemed genuinely happy to help us. We called him after the tiler and parts came and he promptly returned. Todd fixed the leak.

Todd is a man who knows plumbing and one of those guys who likes what he does. It shows in his excellent customer service and in his skills as a plumber. He did a great job for us and will no doubt do a great job for you. It was a pleasure working with him and even though it sounds like a cliché I honestly sleep better at night knowing that I now have a great plumber.

5 stars don't come easy from me so rest assured your going to be a happy camper if you choose to hire this skilled plumbing professional. We like to save up all the little jobs and then hire an expert to fix them in one fell swoop. We had slow flushing toilets, loose and leaky faucets, a garbage disposal that was rusted through just to name a few. He methodically went from one job to the next fixing and explaining all along. He was courteous, clean, and most of all he really know his stuff. Did I mention he arrived right on time and didn't surprise us at the end with a bill that was different from his original estimate. I made a half dozen calls to other plumbers before I reached Todd on a Saturday, and I'm really glad I kept calling until I got him. I was immediately impressed with how professional and courteous he was on the phone, then he was at my house in less than an hour. He gave me a quote and several options, and gave me enough information to make my own decision rather than pressuring me to go the more expensive route. He was also very patient and helpful with all of the additional, As long as you're here... requests I kept throwing his way. My plumbing is fixed, I have tips to prevent future problems, my bank account is happy, and I still haven't heard back from the other plumbers I called. Needless to say, Todd is the only plumber I'll be calling from now on.

The New Year started off, not with a bang but a clog in my kitchen sink. Waiting until Monday, I called Todd and he was able to come out immediately as he was between appointments. Cool. He snaked the drain, but the clog was persistent. He then opened the exterior clean out valve and flushed the line. He was very cognizant of the debris left on my neighbor's driveway and made sure to clean up everything.

Happily I bid him good bye and proceeded to do laundry but YIKES a pipe separated from a joint and the laundry water was poring into the crawl space under my little bungalow, which is preferable to flooding the laundry room!

Todd came back out that evening and added a connecting piece to replace the bad join.
We talked about the state of my drain system, it is not to code, 1 1/2 white PVC into 2 drains. The PVC cement used on the separated line was not the correct type etc.
He also looked at the sewer line and said it too was backed up.

A crew from the Alameda Public Works came out Tuesday morning and confirmed there was a 'main' problem. I felt like I was in the home stretch.
Finally the main was clear and I started to use the kitchen but it was clogged again!

I called Todd AGAIN and although he was willing to come out after his last appointment, 6 or 6:30 pm, I assured him I could live without doing dishes one more night!

Promptly at 9 AM Wednesday, Todd was back at my house. He brought a 'clean out' segment of pipe and attached it to the drain closer to the main line.

By now, I had figured out the real issue and shared it with Todd as he attached the new clean out line. I had 'felted' some wool sweaters right before the NY, all the loose fiber was surly to blame. Todd had cleared the original clog on Monday but when I did a load of laundry it forced more fiber into the line and re-clogged the drain. Eureka!

Todd snaked the line and was able to extract the big wooly hairball.
We ran two tubs full of water through the washer and ran water through the kitchen sink to make sure there was not any more loose fiber. All clear!

These are the things I love about Todd.
He is prompt.
He is friendly.
He is considerate.
His rates are competitive. (I mean really, he hardly charged me for the second visit!)
He will answer ALL your questions and never makes you feel rushed.
His information about the 'state' of your systems never feels like a sales pitch.
He rocks and deserves all the YELPS he has received.

Tod is AMAZING! He has saved our kitchen twice now! First time our kitchen sink was clogged and not draining so he was able to push a snake line through it quickly. The second time we had something go wrong with our dishwasher and it was causing a little flood in the kitchen. Tod figured out what was wrong and it was fixed the same day!
Not only is Tod good at what he does, he is is honest, and will not charge you unfairly, and a very nice man.
Tod is our go to guy for any plumbing issues!

I chose this company based on all the other YELP reviews and those that gave Todd 4-5 stars are right on. I thought I had plumbing issues with my toilet and called Todd. He was at my house in 15 minutes, troubleshot the problem and explained what he was doing. He was professional, friendly, effecient and as it turned out there was nothing wrong, so all he charged me was a hand shake. I will definitely use Todd again and highly recommend him to my friends.

I just registered myself as a yelp member only because I want to write a review about this company. I had a pipe leakage problem under the kitchen sink, so I called Mr. Roberts because of excellent reviews on yelp. It was almost 5:00pm, but he came to my house immediately and fixed the problem at the spot. He throughly explained what the problems were and how the fixing procedure would be. The cost was very inexpensive. He is very polite, and pleasant to deal with. I am not afraid of calling plumbers any more as long as it is Mr. Roberts. Thank you very much.

I had a water heater that had stopped working, a broken bathroom sink pop-up assembly, and a shower that wasn't working right. Todd came to check things out, told me what I needed to buy for the sink, ordered the hot water part, and gave me a run-down on the shower issue. Todd came back within a couple days with his son and daughter to do all the fixes in one go. For a fraction of the price of replacing a hot water heater, they replaced the hot water heater pilot assembly and also installed a new sink faucet. (The shower was a more complicated fix so we put that one off.) They did great work all around, though a few hours after they left, I noticed the faintest whiff of gas. I called Todd and he was back over within 20 minutes to check it and tighten up the gasket. I was extremely happy with how all of it went and will be calling them to deal with my tricky shower problem when I have a chance.

My husband and I found Todd from TA Robert Plumbing Company by reading all the positive Yelp ratings. I called Todd and he came to the house and give me a fair estimate. We agreed to use Todd and he came back and installed it in half day. I was amazed how nicely work he had completed.

Todd also helped me lit up my water heater pilot and cleaned the bathroom water faucet to allow the water flow without charge.

I called Todd out for a leak at my main house shutoff. He came out his next available time, promptly, immediately addressed the problem which had been either ignored or missed by the last plumber I'd employed on a very expensive job! It was a very simple thing which fixed what I believe has been a very lengthy costly leak. His bill for this act of mercy was absolutely affordable. He will be my FIRST call for my next plumbing job. Called Todd again for a clothes washer repair. He came out promptly (on a Saturday evening!) and was as friendly, helpful, and affordable as the last time! Since our unit is still under warranty, he recommended we use the warranty repair people, but while he was here, we also asked him to fix a leaky faucet outside. Todd Roberts... one word.. AWESOME. I will NEVER EVER use anybody but Todd for my plumbing needs. I used him last year to fix a leak in my tub and he literally jumped fences to find my water shut off valve because I couldn't find it. He fixed it in seconds flat. On Monday, 4/25/11 I was having problems with my toilet. I was desperate and got a hold of Todd but he said he probably could get to me the next day. Being desperate I called another plumbing company. They said I needed a part and it would cost me $281.00. I called Todd and being the HONEST person that he is informed me that it really should not cost that much and he came the next day and fixed the problem for $60.00. HE ALSO HAD THE PART! He made sure that I saw that everything was okay before he left.

Yes, can you imagine my shock when he finished installing the part in less than 15 minutes. He is such a nice person too! I know in the future, if Todd can't get to me right away, I will wait and wait and wait for him. He is truly one in a million. I wish I could give him 10 stars!

Simply stated: Todd Roberts talked the talk and Todd Roberts walked the walk.

We were at the mercy of a sewer-lateral replacement which, if you've ever had the experience, you know how down right nasty and costly the process is. But after a thorough search, numerous opinions and estimates, we put our faith with TA, (also at the recommendation of our trusted plumber Ed from Bonafide Plumbing) and he really came through for us. Todd was professional, knowledgeable, competent and persistent with his communication and work ethic and thus far, everything is flowing perfectly well. Plus he's assured us that if there are ever any issues with the sewer again, he'll be there in a heartbeat.

Thanks again Todd, we truly appreciate it.

Helpful hint: check with your home insurance company as ours just so happened to cover most of the cost of this ridiculously expensive operation.

We found Todd through all of the positive reviews on Yelp. He has helped us on two occasions. The first was a minor repair to a defective garbage disposal installation done by a previous contractor. He made the repair quickly and charged a nominal amount for his time.

Because of the first great experience we had with him, we used him again to replace a water heater. He did all of the work the same morning we called him for a very fair price. He removed the old water heater, brought in a new one, and installed it bringing everything up to code. He even swept up the entire garage after he was through !

He is very personable and a true professional and we would highly recommend him to others for their plumbing project.

Before Todd I went with a large appliance retailer to install my water heater at a rental. Their quote was high to start with and by the time they sent their subcontractor out it was insulting. I told their sub he could have the day off.

I called Todd and had the opposite experience. He was fast, showed up early and gave a fair price. He even called back the next day to see if my tenent was happy with the new heater? Are you kidding...?

Excluding my Mom, the only person that ever called to check on me a day later was a Dr. following a head injury!

I'll use him again and would highly recomend him.

I've lived in the same place for just about 15 years. I haven't done anything with the house's gas water heater in that entire time, other than ignore the various contractors and inspectors who've stuck their heads into my utility closet and said you might want to have that looked at or I'm not a plumber, but that might need some maintenance. Since the water heater has been installed for about 17 years, and the average life expectancy of these things is 10-13 years without maintenance (according to the interwebs), I figured maybe I should finally talk to someone. Enter Yelp. 5 star local plumber only about a mile away? Excellent.

I called Todd late Saturday morning; he picked up within a half-dozen rings. I explained the situation, said it's working now, so there isn't any urgency on this. He said he was in the area anyway, and my doorbell rang 10 minutes later. I showed him to the utility closet and asked a lot of questions. He pointed out that water heaters can last a really long time, as long as they are properly maintained, which means fully draining the tank yearly. You miss a year, it's like missing all of them. Oops. He also went through the laundry list of things that would need to be done to bring it up to current code. Ouch. He then said that he wasn't there to sell me anything... and proceeded to explain that the current installation was safe (my primary concern), and that water heater failure would probably start with pinprick-sized leaks at the bottom of the tank. So, put some towels on the floor to prevent leakage, check under the heater periodically, and just hang tight (because doing maintenance at this point would likely disturb the tank to the point where it would fail much sooner)... unless I had a chunk of money I felt like throwing at a plumber sooner than absolutely necessary, to replace the whole thing and make the changes necessary for code. Yeah, not so much.

BTW, as Todd so nicely pointed out, it's water heater, not hot water heater, which is what I'd been calling it... the hot bit is redundant. Just throwing it out there for those of you searching on hot water heater in Yelp ('cause I can't be the only one, right? Right?)

The cost for this timely, honest, and expert advice? Nada. Zip. Zilch.

Also, a couple of days ago Todd came over & replaced a faucet to our washing machine. This father & son duo have incredible professionalism & customer service. I used Todd in January 2011 (see my yelp review dated 01/19/11), and when this standalone thingee thingamajig next to my kitchen sink's faucet kept gushing water like a hurricane everytime the dishwasher ran (yes, that is EXACTLY how I explained it to Todd), I knew who to call.

When I called Todd, he picked up immediately, rephrased my description of my problem into something an adult would say and offered to come by in 2 hours the very same day. That's when I had that weird moment like the kid in the YouTube video David After Dentist. IS THIS REAL LIFE??

So I took off work a little early and met him at my house. (What kind of plumber looks better each time you see him?) He was ALL smiles. Crazy. He immediately got to work testing his theory that the dishwasher's air gap was clogged. And voila! After 10 minutes, problem fixed! Todd also gave me some advice on how to prevent this from happening again. REALLY?!? REALLY?!? YOU'RE GIVING ME ADVICE SO I DON'T HAVE TO CALL YOU AGAIN?!? IS THIS REAL LIFE?

In retrospect, I'm not sure why I was surprised. I DID call the same competent, responsive, professional and efficient plumber I used last time. He DOES consistently get 5 stars in yelp. He IS who Marvel would use if they were ever going to create a superhero plumber. So...this is real life. Holy crap. It's nice when life doesn't suck.

By the way, I remember when I first found Todd on yelp, he used to have something like 250 excellent reviews on yelp. This is an update on a past very favorable review. He came to give us a price on changing a faucet and he still hasn't given us a price even though I called him 3 times to follow up. He keeps saying that he will give us an estimate on the cost but still hasn't come through. I asked him if the job was too small and he assured me that it wasn't too small. We were pleasantly surprised in every way. This plumber will restore your faith in humanity.

The trap in our kitchen sink corroded away and leaked goo all over the place. From the looks of it, the pipe leading from the trap was about to go also. I called on a Saturday (12-19-09) at about 3 pm thinking I'd have to leave a message and schedule something for next week.

I spoke to the plumber himself immediately. I told him the problem and he said he'd be there in 45 minutes. If anything, he was a few minutes early.

He had the trap and the corroded pipe swapped out right away. His price was very reasonable, another pleasant surprise as I'm not accustomed to last-minute plumbing work being so competitively priced. There are some peculiarities about our sink that required additional pipe cutting, but his price did not increase. He was fast enough that I don't think it kept him under our sink for much longer.

We're thinking about installing a tankless water heater, so afterwards he did some poking around and gave a simple the job costs X estimate.

We couldn't have been more satisfied.

If you need a plumber, Todd is the guy to call. I came across his excellent reviews here and contacted him with a water pressure problem in our shower. He was courteous on the phone and showed up exactly on time. Todd quickly diagnosed the problem and diligently worked to have everything running smooth in no time. He even kindly cleaned up after himself when he was finished.

It is very difficult to find a good, honest, experienced local plumber with very reasonable rates these days. I would highly recommend Todd's services if you ever have any plumbing issues.

Our water heater went out and a friend of ours recommended T A Roberts. It was late in the afternoon so we didn't think we'd get a call until the next day, much less have someone come out the same afternoon. Totally awesome!

Todd was very professional, friendly, easy going, but best of all he took the time to show us what the problem was. He picked up the new water heater, delivered/installed it, and disposed of the old one for us. He even called the next day to make sure everything was okay... now that's great service.

As everyone else here has mentioned, he's fantastic.

Our water heater started leaking in our old (102 year old!) house. We have a home warranty service contract and called to get it replaced. My biggest pet peeve when dealing with any kind of repair service is when the service company gives a window of time when they'll show up. I understand why they do it, but I've had so many situations now where they give you a 2 (or 4!) hour window and end up showing up after the window. Why bother?

Our home warranty service sent out a contractor from a large plumbing company who took a look and put together an estimate for the work to replace it. When he listed the items that needed to be fixed or changed, I started to get that sneaking suspicion that I was going to get taken for a ride. The home warranty service only covers a certain amount for repair or replacement, so anything above that, we were going to have to pay. I'm not a plumber, but I am pretty technical and I can tell when someone is making more work for themselves than necessary.

So, my wife did some good Yelp research and came across Todd's listing. Having used Yelp a number of times for restaurant reviews, I was amazed at how many 5-star reviews he had. That's not something that comes easily.

We called Todd and he showed up within an hour to give us an estimate (no appointment window needed!). And guess what? Suddenly a lot less work needed to be done to replace that water heater. Unlike the plumber from the large company, Todd took his time explaining what needed to be done and why. And when I asked him about some of the items the other plumber said needed to be fixed, he explained to me why that wasn't actually necessary.

In the end, Todd replaced our water heater and did a fantastic job. He cleaned up after the work and even went out of his way to explain to me how to flush the water heater yearly to ensure it lasted a good long time.

During the most recent round of storms our hot water heater went out. I called the plumbers that had previously installed it with no response and began looking for another service provider in the area. I found T.A. Roberts Co. and read the reviews on Yelp. Todd responded quickly and was on my doorstep the next day. He and his son Ben accessed the work and gave us two options. Since the previous call (and more rain) our basement also flooded. Along with the heater they made time to install a sump pump. My husband and I appreciated the timeliness of their response and the genuine service we received. Just wanted to add more praise for TA.

We called him this morning, he returned our call right away, and came later today.

We have a new fancy fridge that needed ice and water hooked up. Ice and water was attempted to be hooked up years ago, and ended up with wood floor damage. Did not want to do that again.

He came, checked it out, left to go buy a part, came back, skimmed the manual, hooked it up, tested the unit several times, showed me how to use the fancy digital controls, went over procedures with my seven hear old son and I, and was gone in a half hour.

I found his listing here on Yelp. We just needed our garbage disposal replaced with the one I had bought on Amazon. We had no rush on the job. I called him after hours and he answered the call personally, no answering machine. He offered to come within 12 hours of my call quoting us an affordable rate, but we preferred he come in two days. He came about a half hour later than scheduled, but as I said, this was not an urgent job. He came with his son, replaced the garbage disposal within an hour, and to further demonstrate his great service, he fixed the water pressure for our sink free of charge! He's as good as it gets.

My morning started with my tenant calling from downstairs to say her toilet was not working. Then we moved into the part about water coming out of the base of the toilet onto the floor. YIKES! I called the plumber I'd finally found after years of trying to find a reliable, non-creepy, plumber on the island. His voice mail said he was out of town.

So, thanks to yelp and the previous reviews, I found Todd. I called and after a bit of phone tag I had an appointment. He did return a call I missed and said he thought he could help... which helped me from resorting to plan F and starting to call one of the creepy plumbers from the past.

My tenant is a lovely elder (she's calls herself that and teases me to respect her as my elder!). That being said she gets nervous about having strangers in her apartment and is very particular about how things are done. Todd was PERFECT... very respectful and a true gentleman. He asked my tenant questions and listened closely to her. He explained each step of what he would do and was very careful with her personal knick-knacks in the bathroom. We got a couple other things fixed while he was here.

Since I had a live plumber with manners on the property, I had him look at a couple other problem faucets so he could concur with me and pronounce them dead. He did and gave me good advice on what to look for as I purchase new faucets. So... got all my problems fixed for today in less than three hours from my tenant's distress call, and at a decent price, and have someone that I feel good about coming back to do more work.

Sad for the other plumber but I do believe I have my new Alameda plumber. Thanks Todd! See you when I get my new, swanky, good quality, affordably priced (hopefully clearance) faucets!

Excellent plumber - great guy! Todd walked into our soggy mess (on time) and got right to work. Suggested what we could do to save time and costs on repair and then explained exactly what needed to be done. Completed the repairs (plus additional requests) expertly and left the work space cleaner than he found it - wow! Todd was great! He replaced a broken garbage disposal for me in the house we moved into. A month later it malfunctioned due to too much food being in there and me not clearing out often enough. Todd is fantastic! He has done two projects at our house. The first time he installed a hot water heater. He was incredibly honest about the work that we needed (and what we really didn't) and somehow managed to install the unit with code work and permitting for substantially less than all other bids and even less than the unit retailed for by itself.

The second project was a clogged kitchen sink which required that he disassemble the plumbing under the sink, clear the clog, and reassemble and reseal the fittings. We have a triple sink, and so he also fixed a problem with the water backing up into the right hand sink which was a result of a pipe being too long causing an incorrect angle of water flow. He did this work on a Sunday morning...all in for the second job...$180.

He is honest, nice, and very good. I will definitely use him again for other plumbing work at the house and I've already recommended him to my friends.

I seldom write reviews on Yelp, but these guys really deserve a shout out. I definitely like to give their team -- 5 stars.
I had problem with a sump pump at home, called them later in the afternoon. The owner Todd answered the phone and scheduled an early morning appointment for the very next day. They showed up early. Todd brought another technician with him. They quickly located the problem, and did the repair. It was working properly with an hour.
Todd and his co-worker are very knowledgeable, professional, AND they are fairly priced. They care about what they do. And they took the time to educate me about the pump. I would definitely use T.A. Roberts Company again in the future and I certainly recommend them.

Finding a local plumber i can trust is important to me as we just bought our home a few months ago. I have had a Very positive experience with Todd so far! My water heater was leaking and he was able to match the price of a different quote i had received from a larger company to replace it. Todd and his son are friendly, efficient and know their stuff! While they were here i asked them about our toilet that wasn't flushing properly and needed a new wax ring. Not only did they replace some parts in the tank to fix the flushing issue but they also took the toilet up and put a new wax ring on for FREE! As a cost-conscience DIY junky I hate calling in pros unless I really need them, and when I do I want someone I can respect. Todd and son came out and did a bang-up job fixing a tough piece of plumbing work I just couldn't get right (tools + skills issue). Todd has come out to our house for our plumbing emergencies, on short notice, twice in the last two years. Once when our hot water heater was spitting steam and hot water out of a failed valve, and the next time when the shower water wouldn't turn off. We wanted to have our garbage disposal removed (it was no longer working and creating problems); so he came and gave us an estimate for his work and the parts would be extra. We were a little nervous that the parts would escalate the final price but we were pleasantly surprised. Todd and his son, Ben arrived the scheduled day, quickly and efficiently completed the job. They were both professionals and on point with their work. The extra parts we're only $40.00. He also cleaned out our drain too. Why can't all home service providers be like TA Roberts Plumbing Co.?

I had to call Todd for another plumbing issue this week. He came out the next day -- when he said he would -- assessed the problem, determined he required a part, promised to come back the next day and did -- again, when he said he would. And he of course fixed the problem. He and Marquis are the friendliest, most helpful, reliable people. It is a joy to know that should we have plumbing issues in the future, we know exactly who to call.

And by the way, the last time I used him -- for a much more serious problem -- he took time out to show up to be my advocate with the insurance adjuster. Just because he felt it was the right thing to do.

So it happened... a plumbing event that needed immediate attention. I first called another plumber who was very highly rated on Yelp. The person who answered the phone was really unprofessional and sounded a little off. Made me nervous, so I thought I'd better look elsewhere. Should I try another Yelp-approved plumber? Sure, why not!

Called Todd and left a message. He immediately called back, apologizing that he was on the other line and couldn't pick up my call the moment I rang. Big thumbs-up just for that!

He sounded super nice, asked all the right questions, and was located pretty close to my house, so I said, can you help us? He said he'd be over shortly. Shortly is not the word for it - Todd arrived within half an hour, offered a cheerful smile and a firm handshake, and quickly fixed the problem.

The capper is - Todd charged a price that was so reasonable as to be unbelievable in this day and age. For immediate service!

I could not be more pleased with his responsiveness, professionalism, and skills. On top of that, as I already said, Todd is just so nice! If we ever have any kind of plumbing issue again, Todd is our guy. He's a gem. Thanks to fellow Yelpers for ranking him so highly so I could find him! Here's to you, Todd. Thank you again!

Previous reviews are right on the money! Just called for help with a water heater that was producing nice cold water. Todd was quick to respond, came out as quickly as possible (same day), and not only fixed the problem but inspected the unit and let me know how much service life it probably has left.

Best of all - he didn't laugh about the problem, which turned out to be: switch gas setting from pilot to on. Operator error!

I'll be calling Todd again when I have water heater problems...but I'll check the gas switch first.

We had Todd come by for two separate jobs.
The first time, to save us from canoeing down our hallway.
And the second time, to fix our disposal/dishwasher fias-co-mbo.
He came by on time, got the job done RIGHT, got the job done quickly, and for a fair price.

We're walking around on DRY ground, getting our dishes washed, and able to use our disposal. All things you take for granted until you can't do them anymore.

I hope you never have to call a plumber.
But if you have to call one, give Todd a call.

I highly recommend Todd. He helped us with an emergency hot water heater replacement (the old one started leaking). We had been planning on installing a new tankless heater anyway. Todd tried to help us secure the necessary permit from the City (Alameda), however through not fault of Todd's, the City dragged out the process. As a result we were left without hot water for several days. By the time we got the permit straightened out Todd had a schedule conflict. Todd work with us and got another plumber he frequently works with, Ed, to come out and do the work so we could get our hot water back on.

Todd's price was reasonable and he stuck to it even though there were a few extra's involved in getting the project done. I would definitely use Todd again.

If you want an honest, professional plumber who knows what he's doing, call Todd.
We were in dire straits when our grinder pump (sewage) stopped working. I called Todd, he came right out - within a half hour! - and our pump was up and working by the end of the day.
I was very happy with Todd's services last night. Then today, he called me to make sure everything was still working okay! Have you ever had a plumber do a follow up call? That's professional.

My family and I have live in Alameda for many years. Throughout the years we dealt with many bogus plumber. Ones who would half step and and not fully disclose all the problems with you. I found Todd through yelp and I must say I was a bit skeptical but I gave him a call. One of the best decision I could have ever made. This is my first time writing a review. Why start now? Because thanks to previous yelp reviewers, I contacted TA Roberts Plumbing and I am grateful for the introduction to this fine person, knowledgable plumber, and fair businessman.

Todd came over 30 minutes after we spoke on the phone (on a Saturday afternoon, no less) and diagnosed the problem with our water heater. I expect to bump up the 4 stars to 5 after he's done the work for us.

He is now my go-to plumber. And i will be referring friends and neighbors to him as well.

I reached out after seeing tons of positive reviews and they were at my house the following morning getting our tankless water heater and dishwasher plumbing up to code. They were readily available, fairly priced, showed up on time every time, and were just all around good guys to work with. I have 100% trust in their work. As I'm typing this, they're here helping out with some other plumbing issues we're working on with our washing machine. I definitely won't be looking elsewhere any time we have plumbing needs.

OMG...I need 10 stars. I came home Saturday evening after a week vacation to find my water heater leaking. I called another plumber first , who I had used before, but their answering service could barely write down the information. I went to Yelp and saw all the great reviews for Todd. I could not figure how to turn off the water heater, I know I won't make that mistake again, and though Todd does not work weekends, he came right over to give me a hand. He turned off the water and came back the next morning to replace the water heater. He is extremely professional; responsive; does what he says; and delivers a quality service. I could not be more thankful!

What can I say more than what's already been said!
Todd is as good as it gets! He is nice, polite, funny, and honest. And most of all, he knows what he is doing.Took him 30 mins to take off the toilet, replace the wax ring, put on new bolts, new flap, and put everything back together!
Not only did he do more than he came for for free, but he charged me less that what he originally quoted.
I can with no doubt say that Todd is the best person I ever dealt with when seeking services.

Best plumber in Alameda bar none. I've tried many of them and always return to Todd for all my plumbing needs and will do so for the foreseeable future.

Todd stands by his work, is very professional and having grown up around the construction business it is clear to me that he is at the top of his trade.

Todd works around my schedule, is responsive and communicative and gets sh*t done!

I had a dripping facuet (even worse given the water shortage) called Todd and true to form came over when he said he would. It is an old facuet, he offered two solutions. Nice to have options! He is very nice and pricing is so reasonable, you'd be hard pressed to beat it. He had no issues showing me the issue and why it would repeat.

I've had him out twice, once after installing a hot water dispenser in the kitchen my rusted drain pipe came right out of the wall. He was out the next day at the scheduled time and had it fixed in about 90 minutes. He also made a recommendation at that time on how to fix a leaking toilet, which turned out to be exactly what he had suspected (and was a $1.99 purchase at Pagano's).

The second time he was out I had him fix a leaking pipe in my utility room. He took the time to cut out the old piece and replace about 6 inches of the pipe rather than just try to soldier what was there.

Great attitude, fast and efficient work, he's the only plumber I will use.

I have to admit that I was skeptical when I saw that TA Roberts Plumbing received five star ratings in all of its Yelp reviews. However, after using the company I'm convinced it deserves those ratings, and I'm adding another to the list. Todd Roberts and his colleague, Ben, were able to respond quickly and arrived when promised. I presented him with three plumbing problems, which he used professional skills and innovation to fix. The first was a low-pressure in our shower, which had been fixed before by another plumber. Todd explained why the back-flushing done by the other plumber actually exacerbated the problem, cleaned the grit out of the valve that was causing the reduced pressure, and showed me how I could easily fix the problem should it recur. The second problem was a leaky cold water faucet, which another plumber said could only be addressed by replacing the faucet. Todd was able to find a matching valve and convinced me to replace both the hot and cold valves even though only the cold seemed to be leaking. It turned out there was a second leak I wasn't aware of, which was fixed by replacing the hot water valve. The third problem was standing water in the drain of our dishwasher, which another plumber said would require contacting the contractor who installed the dishwasher. Todd fashioned a trap out of the drain hose, which solved the problem.

The cost of Todd's services were very reasonable. In fact, his bill for fixing all three problems was less than half the cost of replacing our bathroom faucet, which would have fixed only one of the problems.

In addition to his high level of professional skills, Todd has a keen sense of humor, which makes him a delight to talk with. However, fair warning: if you take his sarcastic remarks seriously, you could come to the wrong conclusion. For example, he claims to have written most of his glowing Yelp reviews himself. I know for certain that he didn't write this one.

Best experience with a plumber ever! I'm sure it's not always possible, but Todd returned my call within an hour and was at the house just a couple of hours later. The hot water faucet in my shower broke and I couldn't turn the hot water off. I needed it fixed quickly (I shut the valve off to the hot water heater, which meant we had no hot water anywhere in the house). Todd was professional and courteous from the minute he greeted me to when he cleaned up and left. I'll definitely be calling him for future work and repairs.

I called yesterday with an emergency kitchen faucet replacement. (It's hard not to have a kitchen faucet!) Todd answered the phone and made an appointment with me today. We live in Oakland and just had our annual New Year's Day plumbing emergency (garbage disposal leaking like crazy). I called three plumbers and Todd from TA Roberts is the only one who called me back. TA Roberts consists of Todd and his son Ben, who is training to take over Todd's business. Todd has been professional and great! We called him for a leaky toilet and he and his son set us up with an appointment right away. They changed the part that they thought was the cause. We had no issues for a couple of weeks, but the leak started again. I called him and he came out to check on it for us exactly when we requested. After reassessing, he replaced another part for us but didn't charge us for the visit or the part. He was very thoughtful and has great customer service! He's really easy to talk to and explains things very well. Both my husband and I really appreciated his help. I like that they answer their phones and are on time to appointments! We have an old house with old plumbing with hard-to-find parts. For months we had a steady, dripping leak from our bath faucet. We had another (very good) plumber come out and take a look at it. He told us that the faulty part, the stems in the faucet, were highly unusual and he was unable to locate replacements. He suspected the only way to fix the faucet would be to essentially rip a hole in the wall and replace all of the plumbing. We had Todd come out on a Friday morning for a second opinion. He took a bunch of pictures of the stems, hunted around over the weekend(!!!), and found replacements by Monday. The faucet is fixed, there are no halls in the wall, and everyone is happy.

Todd and his son, Ben, were extremely responsive. We set an appointment time. Todd called to ask if they could come early, and showed up within a few minutes of the time we reset. They inspected my leaking hot water tank, gave me what seemed to me to be a very reasonable explanation of the problem, which Todd felt could only be solved by replacing my 23 year-old hot water tank. They returned an hour later with a new tank, and installed it in about an hour and a half. The pipe connections and bracing they made were far superior to the ones in my original installation. Todd knocked $100 off the original price he quoted - for no particular reason, except that I think he felt he could rely on my reporting that fact in this review.

We have an old Craftsman in Alameda that had rusty old pipes and low water pressure. Todd and his son Ben re-piped the whole house and replaced the water heater. They got it done in just a few days and had the toilet up and running the very first day so we could stay in our house. Todd and his crew are really friendly and polite plus the work they do is top notch! They were excellent about cleaning up after themselves and any concerns I had, Todd was quick to respond and return and sort it out. As an added bonus, they were really good to my dog who was home during the process taking time to check on him and make sure he wasn't too freaked out by all the action going on in the house.

My main water line in the front of the house was leaking where I turn the water on and off so I called Todd to see when he could come out. He asked me to describe the leak. While describing the leak, I explained that my husband only turned the water to the right part of the way because it seemed to give us the same water pressure. He explained to me that it needs to be turned all the way to the right in order to allow the stem to seat correctly. I tried that, but alas, it was still leaking right at the nut. He then told me to tighten the nut a wee bit (not too hard) and that should fix it. It did! Just a phone call of advice, no charge and it was fixed. I am so pleased. Just had an amazingly great experience with Todd. I realize that such effusiveness may seem odd when talking about a plumber, but seriously -- Todd is the man.

I recently had a disaster with another Alameda plumber (who shall remain nameless). This other plumber snaked our tub, which created a leak, which led to serious water damage. That plumber came back and supposedly fixed the leak. Then we got the water damage fixed (at significant cost). Then the plug on the tub got stuck b/c the first plumber had installed the overflow incorrectly.

At this point, I was sick of dealing with the first plumber, so I looked on Yelp and found Todd. Todd came out, was super nice, and fixed the plug for an extremely reasonable price. However, the leak came back. This was no fault of Todd's -- the first guy had never fixed it right in the first place.

So I called Todd again, he came our right away and fixed the leak properly. And here is the crazy part -- he did it for free. I'm kind of in shock about how cool this was, so I felt compelled to write this review. I can't guarantee that Todd will plumb for free every time, but I'm pretty confident that you will be happy with his work and his price!

Todd and his assistant are great!

He was recommended to me by a friend of mine that had some minor plumbing repair work done by Todd. I had him install a new Toto toilet and not only were they fast and efficient, but both of them were extremely careful about not making a mess.
They installed the new toilet, removed the old one and took it away for disposal.

Todd does great work, is reasonably priced and is very conscientious while in your home working. I would recommend Todd to everyone that has any plumbing problem or project, large or small.

After he was paid, I found out that the manufacturer has a lifetime warranty on the parts. I told him, and he came back with $70 cash! How many service people would do that? I'll sure use him again.

I was in the crawl space this past weekend and found an unpleasant surprise - a leak in the waste pipe extending from our toilette. It was a slow leak from a very old pipe and unfortunately it was leaking over the wood foundation.

I found Todd on Yelp and couldn't agree more with all of the favorable reviews. He picked up the phone on a Sunday. He was out with his son but indicated he would stop by later in the afternoon to look at the issue. He showed up at the time he communicated.

It was a bigger job than I anticipated. The stucco has to be removed to do the repair work. However the price quoted was reasonable. We scheduled some time a couple days later to get the work done.

Todd and his colleague were on time. As Todd got into the work he found some other issues - the toilet was not properly installed by the previous owner. This caused some additional complexities for the repair. Regardless, the work was done that day and for the price stated.

I found out Todd is practically a neighbor and lives very close by. It is great to work with a professional who is part of the community. Todd is a stand up guy. I highly recommend giving Todd a call if you are unfortunately in need of a plumber.

I live in Alameda and I'm always happy when I find a great resource who is also located in Alameda. I had a problem with my irrigation system. I called Todd, explained the problem, and he said he would come by the house, take a look at it and then call me to discuss.

He called to tell me that it was a minor problem, so he just fixed it free of charge. Obviously you may not have the same experience but I really appreciated his honesty and I'm sure he will be rewarded when I go to renovate my bathroom next year because he will be on the top of my list to call to get a quote for installing all of my new plumbing.

He identified the problem immediately and fixed it plus I had him install two bathroom sink faucets. All of the work took him less than an hour. I'm rating this gentleman five stars, and we haven't even done business.

He came to my house to bid a job. Something about his manner (straight up, no pretense, direct, honest, and old school) made Todd Roberts immediately trustworthy. He was honest enough to tell me that the sewer excavation job was not in his specific line of work, but he was full of information, counsel, and advice. I regretted not being able to use him, because he presented himself as a my-word-is-my-bond kind of guy, and there are precious few people like that anymore.

I don't even know about the quality of his workmanship, but I'll confidently call him if I can find a job for him to do.

The first job Todd did for us was replacing our gas line on the outside of our house (yes, you need a plumber for that). Recently, I called Todd again with a minor plumbing issue and he came over within 2 hours of my phone call and fixed the issue. He had to replace a part that likely cost him about $20. I asked what I owed and he told me just to give him $20! What a deal!

We have used him in the past and he has always been phenominal: Excellent service, fair, and friendly. I highly recommend Todd for any plumbing job big or small. I'll be calling him again in the future!

I called Todd at 9:30 AM on a Sunday and he was at my house by 12 PM fixing my problems. We had a few problems that needed fixing.
#1. I have a pump that pumps shower water up to the sewer line in a lower level shower that stopped working.
#2. We had a leak on the junction of two pipes
#3. We had lower water pressue in our kitchen sink faucet.

Todd diagnosed all three problems within an hour and was able to fix items #2 and #3 within the hour. Item #1 (the pump) - requires a new part and Todd gave a rough estimate and we set a tentative timeframe for getting and installing the new part.

I've got a new house and I'm curious about how things in the house work and Todd patiently and thoroughly answered all my questions and also did a general review of the plumbing of our house.

Quick response time, nice guy, reasonable prices, and lots of experience. What more can you ask for in a plumber?

Update - 1/30/2010 - Todd Returned yesterday and fixed the float valve on my sump pump. He arrived early (he called to make sure that was ok), fixed the float valve for less than his estimate, and helped me out with a few other minor repairs (drippy shower head). Another great experience.

Had a truck smash into my house last Monday and the driver knocked off my water spicket and water came gushing out. After shutting off the water from the main i remembered inot going to have any water to do my daily things. So i called TA Robert Plumbing and Todd was there within 15 minutes and capped the leak. When I came home from a weekend away to a flooded basement, Todd was the first person to return my call on Sunday. He assured me he would be by first thing Monday am & showed up just as promised right on time. He was in & out, did a thorough job in installing a 40 gal high quality water heater, and instructed me on how to manage shutoffs in any similar type of emergency. I have found my plumber! I've turned his business card into a magnet that now lives on my fridge. I've called many plumbers and I solely believe that I experienced a lack of simple human attentiveness from other plumbers simply because I was destined to meet Todd. As this is my first home; the first living experience on my own, I know that I am never to worry again about a plumbing issue. I've experienced a calm relief upon meeting Todd. He looked at the issue, identified the maker of my rusted shower parts and ordered a replacement with ease, as if he were the plumbing whisperer. And when the part arrived he replaced it in no time. His personable, kind aura, and work ethic is such that I can go on enjoying my new home because Todd is on my team! Should any plumbing mishap happen, I will turn to my fridge and dial Todd! I feel so blessed to know that I can call on him and that my life will be immediately restored! Well I take that back, I will find a simple joy in my mishap because I will encounter the warm personality of my plumber yet again. Thank you Todd!

There is a reason this guy has 5 stars across the board. As a perfectionist I am not an easy person to please.. I was faced with having to have a shower unit installed for my 87 year old EX -Marine aunt. She just got home from face cancer surgery and we needed to have a care giver move in immediately.. The bathroom only had a tub and 80 year old plumbing. I called Todd.. He came over when promised. Her surveyed the situation..told me exactly what was needed ..where I needed to go to have the necessary part modified...Once I knew the conversion could be accomplished in 24 hours.. He returned, shut the water to the house and removed the faucet fixtures. He returned the next day SATURDAY promptly at 1 pm...installed the modified part , helped with some non plumbing issues and got the job done magnificently... SERVICE LIKE THIS IS NOT EASILY FOUND THESES DAYS..Turns out he's an ex Marine as well. BY FAR THE BEST EXPERIENCE WITH A SERVICE COMPANY I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED... This is a true story.. Do not hesitate to call these guys..

There's a reason Todd has a perfect 5 star rating on here. He's one of the most honest, reliable, skilled, reasonable plumbers you will ever find. Todd installed a hot water heater at our house on a Sunday, with a top of the line model that was several hundred dollars less than if I had puchased it myself, without installation, and he was over $900 cheaper than 2 other bids I got. Oh...did I mention this included code work as well? Don't think he lost money on the deal....he didn't, it was a fair price and he generates business by treating people right and getting referrals and good reviews. I had Todd back out again for another plumbing repair....again on a Sunday, and he did the job in less than an hour for around $150. Not bad for an hour's work, but still reasonable for a Sunday and a skilled plumber who you can trust to do the job right with a great attitude.

Had a plumbing emergency (in my mind anyway) this afternoon. Went online to call a plumber and am so very glad to have found Todd! Todd and his crew are fantastic! We needed to have our galvanized piping replaced to the house from the street and replace our water heater with an instahot heater. We interviewed 3 plumbers for our job. Todd was the only one that followed through. He and his crew were at the house for a full week. Always showed up when they said they would. Everything was neat and clean all the time. The water was only temporarily off during the days with ample notice to plan and it was always back on when promised. We always had water service every night. They had to stay later one evening because replacing the pipe from the street was more than they anticipated due to the tree roots and hard ground, but there was no complaining. What you get is top quality, professionalism, on time service, minimal interruption, a clean workplace, and fair pricing!

Our company was doing work at an apartment building in Alameda and a water main was accidentally damaged. We needed a quick repair because the water service had to be turned off. I called TA Roberts because of the good Yelp reviews. Todd answered the phone, listened to what we needed and was at the site in less than an hour. He called me back and said he'd be able to make the repairs and have the water service restored in a short amount of time. Todd is awesome. Here's what happened. I called him to have him come out and explained my problems (broken hot water recirculation pump and terrible water hammering). When he asked where I was, (Orinda) he said unfortunatlely he doesnt' service he area. However, he spent a good 10-15 minutes on the phone listening to me explain, offering advice, simple things I can try to do before calling a plumber and even giving me ballpark costs on things so I know I'm not getting ripped off when I do schedule a job. he even offered to speak to me at anytime to give me advice on plumbing things free of charge, even though he's not doing the work.. these kind of guys don't exist much anymore. It's too bad he doesnt' service my area, but if he does, then you'll be lucky you get a guy like Todd, because he's a true professional.

Todd provides excellent customer care. He is the owner of TA Roberts Plumbing Company, a local Alameda company. He really knows how to make his customers happy. My washing machine door malfunctioned the same day as our water heater and we could not wash clothes or take hot showers. While giving us a free estimate to replace our water heater, Todd kindly solved a difficult mechanical problem with our washing machine door and fixed it. My water heater failed right before Christmas. I called a few shops, but none could come out for days. I called Todd. He said he was working in the area and could come out in an hour or so. He and his son Ben reported in about 45 minuets. Given the age and condition of the water heater, I that I needed a new one. I asked when he could install one. Todd said noon the next day. We struck the deal and by noon the next day I had a new heater installed. Excellent service, professional work, and at a fair price! A few days later, I discovered a leaky outdoor faucet and called T. A. Roberts. Again, Todd said he and his son were working in the area and could report in about an hour. A half hour later, they drove up and replaced the leaking faucet. These guys are good. They are trustworthy, good spirited, and they strive and succeed to provide timely service at fair prices.

Todd is the best there is!!! Several months ago, Todd came to the rescue to install some new, water efficient, toilets to replace our old, inefficient 6 gallon toilets. His quote to do the work was very, very reasonable and he had the work done very quickly and thoroughly! So when our shower drain decided to stop working this morning (a day before we have out of town company come into town), Todd was the first to come to mind (after trying, and failing, to snake the drain myself)! I called Todd at 4 p.m. and despite the fact that he was on his way out of town to celebrate his son's birthday, he came over right away and fixed our drain! He was in and out in 10 minutes and his charge, again, was very reasonable! On top of all of that, he is just a really nice guy whom I enjoy having in our home! These are the kinds of people that you should know about as homeowners and who you should support! Homeownership is not easy, but at least we have our go-to-guy to call if/when anything plumbing related needs attention!! Wow. These guys ARE great. I was so impressed with all of these reviews that I decided to call regarding a sump pump issue. Todd answered the phone, but let me know that I was out of the area they normally service. However, he walked me through a few simple tests to determine what the problem could be and told me to call him later if I needed any more help over the phone. What plumber does that?! Very impressed with his customer service even when he knew I was not going to use his services. Makes me want to move to Alameda just to have him as our plumber.

Todd is great!
He is quick, competent, easy to talk to and on top of that reasonable with pricing. I had a call from my tenant regarding black stuff coming out of the faucet. He came out to the property almost as soon as I called, diagnosed it with no problem and fixed it on spot. I just had someone else come out prior to him to take a look at the same issue and he had suggested different repairs for twice as much with out making me feel very confident that those repairs would do the job. Todd fixed the problem and left me feeling very confident that the issue was resolved and my tenants would not have to deal with this issue any longer. And since I wasn't there he even assured me that my tenants were taking good care of my home! Very thoughtful!

I had a major leak in my driveway with other smaller leaks possible under my garage. Todd was the third plumber I call for an estimate. He actually came out on a Sunday to look at the problem as he knew I needed a quick estimate. He took more time than the others to review the problem and gave me several options for the repair. I selected his company to do the work. He did a terrific job and even took care of another issue he found while he was here. He cleaned up all the debris and left the property in great condition. I am glad he was recommended to me by a co-worker. I couldn't be happy with the quality of is work and would recommend him to anyone needed plumbing work.

Our hot water pressure had declined over the last two weeks--it's not fun showering under a dribble. On Sunday afternoon we decided that it would be worth it to change the cold water in and hot water out lines to make sure there was not obstruction. Instantly went from having a dribble of hot water to none. The first assumption was the hot water heater had died. Placed a call to Water Heater Masters--the call was promptly returned and Alex listened to my explanation of the problem. He suggested I not immediately replace the heater but have a plumber check for an obstruction in the line. I appreciated the suggestion to diagnose before spending the money for a new unit.
I called T.A. Roberts to leave a message 7AM Monday morning a half hour before they opened. I was surprised by Todd answering the phone. He listened to the problem but said he was on his way out the door, and would call me back from his truck. He did and was willing to come out to diagnose the problem but he was booked until 1PM. He asked if I could wait that long. Being a little under the weather I said if he could keep that appointment that was fine--I just wasn't in the mood to chase someone down to see if they could get there sooner. He said if he could get there earlier he would call and we agreed to the 1PM appointment. Major points for doing what he said he would.
An hour later Todd called to confirm my address and said he was on his way. Major points scored again. He showed up with his assistant Ben, I showed him the problem and they dove in right away. The problem turned out to be a stuck valve in the water heater. He got the valve working then checked to make sure the flow was normal at all the faucets. Fixed, checked to make sure everything was OK and out of the house in less that 40 minutes--and the price was EXTREMELY reasonable. I would have absolutely no hesitation about calling him in the future or recommending him to anyone. This really is the way this is supposed to work. Great job guys.

I have thought many many times about posting a review for Todd Roberts. He has provided the most excellent service. But today, when I called for an urgent plumbing leak, and he responded right away as usual (even though he's usually really busy), I just had to pause and write - he came all the way over, diagnosed and fixed the problem, and just completely went out of his way for me, his customer. And, he always does a great job, knows exactly what he is doing, and acts like it's no big deal. I am so so happy that I have found Todd as our plumber - he's been working on our rental property too. Another great thing is that he is extremely reasonable in his pricing, and I don't hesitate to call him because I know he isn't going to gouge me; I used to hesitate to call the plumber we previously used because I knew it would cost a fortune. Todd is a good guy. I wish I could same the same about a lot of contractors I've used. Once we called Todd because our kitchen garbage disposal wasn't working. It turned out that the disposal became unplugged from the outlet under the sink. Todd spotted the problem immediately, plugged it back in and wouldn't take any money for the call. In our latest call, we asked him to do something about the low pressure from the kitchen faucet. In about five minutes (or less) he removed the water flow restrictors hidden in the faucet and gave us enough water flow to easily wash dishes. All he asked was for $45, a smaller service fee than he usually charges. He's extremely pleasant and has a very optimistic outlook on life. He would have fit right in on the Walton Family. He's our plumber for life. I don't think I could find anyone better, more efficient and more congenial. Thanks Todd.

Todd returned my call in a timely manner came over the next day and provided me with the most reasonable estimate I have received. I'm a long time Yelp user, but a first time reviewer, and it is Todd who has inspired me to write. I have a heavily used kitchen sink, and the time came for the grease build up to clog it. Checked Yelp, called Todd who happened to be available right away. He gave a reasonable up front estimate for the snake job, and proceeded to courteously and professionally do the job. A wrench was thrown into the works when my baffled T-joint started to leak. Todd offered to go to Pagano's and pick up the necessary pieces. He came back, installed the new plumbing and tested his work.
However, after several tries, he was still not able to clear the blockage. He then offered to refer me to another plumber who has a longer snake, and even called him for me. As he was leaving, he REFUSED any payment, stating that he had not completed the job, and even didn't take any recompense for the pieces he picked up at Pagano's. I'm flabbergasted.

Todd was professional (was prepared tool-wise for the job), competent (even explained things to me while he was doing it), fair on pricing (up front estimate and even let me know when things may get pricier) and far beyond in service.

I have found my plumber in Alameda.

My husband and I moved to Alameda in 2001. Shortly thereafter we needed some plumbing work and fortunately found Todd Roberts, T.A. Roberts Co. Bath room toilets needed repair/replacement - he did a terrific job, reasonable price, careful attention to detail, explained his work and pricing. Today he is replacing our water heater. My husband called him this morning, he came right over. Knew just what our townhouse would require and purchased an excellent brand and installed and tested. I needed someone to fix a leaky faucet, so I called Todd and left a message.
He called back within 10 minutes and I was able to make an appointment at my convenience the next morning. He showed up, took a quick look, said I needed to replace the faucet (which wasn't surprising concerning its age), told me to go pick out something, call him when I got it and did not charge me. I immediately went out and purchased a new faucet, called Todd and asked him when he could squeeze me in. How about 1:00 pm? that very same day. So nice! He was punctual, very friendly, installed the faucet, including my new sprayer in a super timely manner, was really fun to talk to during the process and charged me a very reasonable rate.

Todd has done a number of important and valuable tasks for me. Most recently, I tried to fix a persistent leak on my kitchen faucet. I was not able to fix the leak as the fixture behind the backsplash was so corroded I could not put the faucet back together as the pipe in the wall was rusted. The situation was even more complicated as there is no shutoff under my kitchen sink as it's a really old house and I had to use the main shutoff to work on the kitchen faucet ...so, I had no water service for the whole house AND I was trying to fix this at 1am! I thought the worst. I imagined having to tear apart the wall to replace the pipe. Well, I barely could sleep that night and I could not flush the toilet either! I called Todd in the morning and explained the situation. He was over within the hour, backed out the nipple and gave me a new (used) one that I screwed in myself and the problem was solved almost instantly. As usual, Todd made my day...AND at no charge!

I highly recommend Todd Roberts. He is quick, friendly, helpful, and reasonable. He returned my call within minutes, was in the area, and offered to come over. In less than 15 minutes, he had fixed my garbage disposal, checked to see if it was allowing the dishwasher water to drain properly, showed us the re-set button, and advised us on how to maintain the disposal with ice cubes and a cleaning product to buy. We are very pleased with his services.

I only have very positive things to say about my experience with Todd. I contacted him last week regarding a noise kitchen sink faucet and, although he generally does not service our area (Richmond) he actually called me back to say that he would be willing to make the drive nonetheless. Todd came 10 minutes early, was well prepared, friendly, and professional. Above all, Todd was amazingly honest and fair- he diagnosed the problem, told me that, although he could fix it, the cost would be more than me just going out and buying a new faucet and installing it on my own, and then didn't charge me anything, even though he made the drive! It is truly a gift to find a service professional who takes pride in his work and is not just out to make a buck. I will call him back again, no question.

Another 5 star performance! I contacted Todd to have the old galvanized pipes in our Alameda home replaced with new copper. We met and discussed the project. When I received his bid, I thought it was a fair price for the scope of work, and checked his references - all gave glowing reviews. When I decided to proceed, he was everything you could hope for in a contractor. Todd arrived as arranged, performed the work in a neat and professional manner, finished on time, cleaned up when done, and came back several times to clean up the final loose ends. He even replaced some old plumbing parts at no charge to ensure that my wife and I were happy with the final result. I would use him again on any other plumbing projects, and highly recommend him to anyone needing to do a similar type project.

This evening, after business hours, an old plastic hot water valve decided to crack open and commenced to spray hot water all over my washing machine room. I had to turn all the water off for the house to get it to stop. I called Todd based on the stellar yelp reviews and he answered the phone and agreed to come over and fix it. Then he came over and fixed it - in and out in about 15 minutes, super courteous and knowledgeable and he asked for a very fair price for the work. I am incredibly pleased and of course wanted to leave my own 5 star rating to document my experience. I will be calling him again when I have future plumbing needs, no question.

I highly recommend Todd Roberts and his son, Ben. I called this morning for help with a leak under the kitchen sink. I had replaced the ceramic valve in the faucet successfully in the past but now it needed a new hose. I had the part and hoped to fix it myself. That was my plan until I realized my garbage disposal was leaking too. Based on the great reviews, I called Todd. I explained the situation and that I was leaving town tomorrow. Even though Todd was booked for today he squeezed me into his schedule. He and his son, Ben, showed up on time and went right to work. Quickly and efficiently my faucet was fixed and the disposal replaced. Then I remembered the dishwasher smell that according to web searches was due to improper installation of the hoses. I mentioned it to Todd and in less than two minutes that was fixed too. These guys are great. They were extremely knowledgeable, efficient, easy to work with and are the type of people you want to have in your home - warm, friendly, and neighborly. Their charges were extremely (suprisingly) reasonable. And, after seeing the work required, the knowledge and tools needed I will call Todd and Ben. There is no way I could have installed that faucet hose. What was I thinking!?! If you need a great plumber, I highly recommend Todd and Ben Roberts!

Todd did a great job clearing a very clogged sink drain the same day I called him. He was on time, polite, organized and with a spotless vehicle - that says a lot about any business, mobile or not. Todd worked systematically to identify the problem and rapidly resolved matters. He fixed a finicky toilet and found a grout problem too all on the same visit - saving me time, money, and future headaches. Prices were reasonable and he totally cleaned up the work area afterwards. I put his number in my phone for the next time we need help with plumbing.

Todd bailed me out! I had house guests coming to visit for Thanksgiving, and my toilet in the guest bathroom was broken. He came over to give me a free estimate and then made arrangements to replace the unit. He was right on time, and very tidy. I felt very comfortable with Todd and his helper in my house, and they were both very polite. I'm hoping to do a kitchen makeover in the spring - Todd will be my first call!

I called Todd because our toilet was clogged. When we spoke in the morning he said he had other appointments but said he would be by that afternoon. He did call later to say he would be running a bit late but was there soon after. He fixed the clogged toilet in a minute. He is very personable and followed up the next day with a phone call to make sure everything was working properly. I would definitely call on him again.

I agree with all the other posters - Todd was so helpful! He came to see us last minute at the very end of the day and diagnosed and fixed our backed up dishwasher problem in no time. Todd was great! He answered when I called and was able to work my job into his schedule right away. He was very honest and fair in his pricing. He also gave me several tips to save money on our kitchen faucet replacement and tips to help keep our plumbing system in good shape. Todd Roberts is the REAL DEAL. If I could give him TEN stars, I would. But I can't. I can, however, tell you that Todd is a great plumber, reasonably priced, and just a nice guy to work with. He fixed the plumbing below my kitchen sink, including replacing the waste disposal unit, as well as my toilet. Showed up on time - no, make that early. But he called ahead to let me know he was coming. First class all the way. Hire this guy!

I had been trying to get the water heater to work for 3 days. Manufacturer and PG&E were only slightly helpful. Todd came to help us on short notice as soon as he finished up other jobs. He was professional, experienced, efficient and his charges were very fair. He was friendly and didn't mind explaining in detail exactly what was wrong with the WH and how he was going to fix it. And fix it he did! A job well done in a little over an hour. I would highly recommend Todd for your plumbing work.

I'd been having problems with the sink rattling when the hot water was on too long. Todd came in the same day, maybe an hour after I'd called. He saw it was a loose washer and fixed it immediately. The whole visit lasted maybe 2 minutes. I felt so silly for even calling him. His price was more than reasonable. This is who you want to call!

Todd is very professional, polite and trustworthy. He repaired my freezer ice maker painlessly and for less than I anticipated. He diagnosed a horrible rumbling sound when flushing the toilet as coming from an incompletely opened feed valve; opening the valve fully cured the problem. He could have made up a problem and charged me plenty to fix it but he didn't. He is up front and totally honest. Todd is the only plumber in my address book

I called TA Roberts Plumbing for the first time because my mom's bathroom sink started leaking water after trying to dislodge a very bad clog. The pipe had a big hole probably from years of wear and tear...and when I called TA Roberts Plumbing, a live person answered, not some answering machine. Todd was at my mom's house right away. He dislodged the clog and replaced the bad piping with a brand new one and it took less than 20 minutes. The price was very reasonable even in an emergency. No appointment necessary unlike some other companies. He even followed up with a phone call the following day to ensure everything was working good. I will definitely call him in the future for other plumbing work that needs to be done. Thank you Todd, you are a life saver!!!!

Does TA Roberts really need another 5-star review? Heck, yes, they do. TA Roberts is the best plumbing company we have ever worked with, bar none. Our bathroom/laundry room remodel went south when we decided to allow our general contractor to do their own plumbing and electrical. Big mistake. Needless to say, after showing that contractor the door we had to build a new team of subs, and fast. Todd Roberts, with whom we had worked before, was there in an instant to help properly assess and remediate the wrongs that had been done by our contractor. (No, he did not swoop in to take advantage - we had the problem assessed by another plumbing contractor as well, with similar findings). The problems were many, with walls and brand new tile work having to be opened and work checked, and it's a good thing we did, because it was not only the plumbing that had issues, but also the electrical. But I digress. Todd assessed, made a plan, and fixed it all. Todd is a master plumber with the can-do attitude of an excellent teacher mixed with the tenacity of a pit bull. Your problem will be solved, no excuses. He has a plan, he has skill and he is a gracious human being. Any plumbing job he tackles is going to get done right, because that's the way he rolls. I'm so glad he and his guys are on our team.

Todd Roberts came to my rescue when I discovered late in the afternoon on the day before my early-morning move that PG&E had dropped the ball and would not disconnect my dryer. Prior to this service call, I had no experience working with TA Roberts Co, yet Mr. Roberts realized the urgency of my situation and squeezed me in. He did not charge a premium. He arrived on time, was pleasant and friendly, and professional. Too bad I moved from Alameda; he would be my plumber for life!

Todd Roberts is great. If he wasn't a plumber, he would still be great. We had a couple of small jobs, he came out, looked, fixed one on the spot, came back a few days later, fixed the other, no fuss, no mess. I'm not to sure about his Porsche investments, but it does sound like fun and I'm convinced it really is for his son. Can't ask for more in a plumber.

Another great experience. We recently had Todd do some more work on our house (technically under our house). As part of the job, he took out several unused gas lines to make our basement space a little cleaner. Not only did he haul these old iron pipes away, but apparently he gives them to a local guy on hard times who recycles scrap metal on the side to help support his family. We highly recommend Todd.

Wow! If you need a plumber, look no further than Todd and TA Roberts Plumbing Company. Our kitchen sink hot water has been running very slowly. I found TA Roberts here on Yelp and after reading all the glowing reviews, gave Todd a call. He quickly agreed to meet me at my house at 5:30 that evening when I got off work. He was right on time (actually even a little early!). He crawled under the sink, checked a few things, put some wrenches to work, and quickly figured out the source of the problem which, (as I had suspected), was old clogged pipes in the wall. He attempted a simple fix by back-flushing the lines but that didn't work. He put everything back together and then walked me through the options, showing me the path of the pipes from the basement to the sink. All in all this took about an hour of his time. Since we rent, I had told him up front that I have to run everything by the landlord before we can commit to any work. When I asked how much I owed for the diagnosis, he said nothing! I was amazed. Even if he had charged me for the hour, I would still give him just as positive a review. He really knows his job and is a delightful, funny guy to boot! I'll certainly be recommending him to my landlord for the necessary repairs. In this day of huge corporations taking over in all areas of commerce and everyone out for themselves and the all-mighty buck, it nice to run into someone like Todd who still places service and customer relations first. Big thumbs up!

Todd just made my day. We have a 1942 home with original pipes. The kitchen water pressure is miserable and after three months in the home I couldn't take it anymore, even though I knew we couldn't afford to replace all the pipes. I called Rescue Rooter and they came out, refused to even examine the pipes under the kitchen sink, and said that we needed to replace the houses' pipes and water line for $8500!!! Yes that's 8 thousand 5 hundred dollars!!! . Uh....NO!!! So I read yelp and Todd's reviews were almost too good to be true. But last night I learned it is true. Todd spent a little less than an hour tinkering with our sink, chatting me up, and patiently answering the 1000 questions from my 4 year old. And instead of $8500 to replace all of the pipes, Todd charged me $55 and my sink now flows like Niagara. Yippeee! I am so glad to have found him. A lot of reviewers mentioned how nice Todd was. He's one of those great salt of the earth folks who loves and knows what he's doing. My daughter asked him a question about every ten seconds and when I told her to let him concentrate, he said it was fine and happily answered each questions while working away. My daughter said Todd was really cool and I agree. All of our future plumbing projects are going straight to Todd. He says he'll retire in 5 years so we've got to plan accordingly.

Let me start by saying I hate calling plumbers. I was once charged $150 to have a baby wipe dislodged from the toilet (blame it on the hubby). This time when I had leaking plumbing under the sink, I checked YELP before making a call. Well let me tell you what a refreshing experience it was to find Todd. He was responsive on the phone, on time, and friendly as can be. He tells it like it is. He tried to reseal the pipe but it still leaked. It needed replacement but he did not have the part so he said he would pick up the part and return at my convenience. On his way out, he also helped fix a faucet that was spraying randomly (just a little rust and gunk) plus we discussed other plumbing concerns around the house. He didn't try to sell me on any services I didn't need. PLUS, the price of the first visit .... FREE! I can't believe it. Todd came back the next day and finished replacing the pipe all at an incredibly reasonable price. Next time you need a plumber, call Todd ... you won't be disappointed.

As is reflected again and again in prior reviews, Todd is extremely kind, efficient, and professional. He has come to our rescue twice now, including one potential emergency involving a gas leak (did you know that plumbers do that?? I didn't, but it's true). He responded to the gas leak situation immediately and with great concern for the safety of my home and family. He promptly corrected the problem at a very reasonable cost. His second visit involved a less-pressing problem with a running toilet. Again, he was miraculously able to come right away. He investigated and explained the problem, and provided a replacement part to correct the issue, all in about ten minutes. The cost for this visit was BEYOND reasonable. Todd is prompt, courteous and very knowledgeable about his profession, which he says he still loves after 25 years. And it must be true, since he does it all with a smile. He gets my highest recommendation!

It's something when someone picks up the phone on any given weekend, let alone a holiday weekend such as Labor Day. I woke early on Sunday morning to a hissing in my cellar, and upon further investigation, finding that my water heater had ruptured! So what do you do on a holiday weekend? Call and hope to catch someone who can help. Well, I did just that and Todd answered the phone. Not only did he answer on a Sunday...he was on vacation! He instructed me what to do to shut off all of the critical components, and told me to call him on Monday and he'd come by to check it out (Labor Day). Well, I called and he came! All I can say is that Todd was great. He came the following day with his son who's training with him, and completed the job in short-order. He and his son are prompt, responsive, friendly, polite, and just good people. I will recommend them to all my friends and family locally without hesitation.
