Very competitive quote compared to other places. Gave me a run down of options and didn't inflate prices.

He was running slightly late but still messaged me to let me know which was really appreciated.

Work was done fast and payment was easy. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking in the area. I got quotes from 8 other places and most gave me insane quotes all over the board. This was the only one that was in range for what others online were quotes for installing a NEMA 1450 outlet.

5 stars with no hesitation. I've had James out a couple times to my home, and he's exactly what you want when hiring someone for help: professional, experienced, knowledgeable, and just a great guy.

Our first job was simply installing an outdoor outlet - a pretty simple job that took him no time. However, a year later, that outlet stopped working and James came out to replace it - at no charge! Despite it not being something he did, he wanted to stand behind his work.

This week, James came out to install recessed lighting in our 3 bedrooms, and I can't be happier. He walked me through the process, showed me what was going to be done, and pointed out important details. He also advised us on additional changes so we can match the lighting throughout our home.

Will definitely have James back - he will always be our go-to electrician as long as he's doing business in Morgan Hill. Thanks James!

James and his amazing crew came and did a wonderful, clean and seamless job of installing and doing some work so that I can charge my Tesla from home. They did such an amazing clean job, the box was all the way on the other side of the house, they ran the cables, LONG cables underneath and through the garage, but they did such a clean job you cannot see it! We also got some future proofing done in case we want to do solar later. James knows what he is doing, he is very careful and skill full at his work, same with his employees. James is EXTREMELY thorough, explains everything and plans what he is going to do very carefully!
If you want GREAT work done, the RIGHT way the FRIST TIME. Call James!

James has done a great job with two different projects. First was installing an outlet for charging an electric car. He was really easy to talk to and gave good advice before going ahead with the job. It turned out exactly how I wanted.

The second project was installing a solar system. James was involved in the whole process and gave me a quote only after fully checking everything out in person. A different company gave me a quote after just looking at google maps which didn't inspire confidence. James quote was lower too.

The installation went very smoothly and ended up exactly as planned. James was really committed to doing the job without running visible conduit on the roof or walls so it came out really clean. He's very organized and easy to work with via phone, text, and email. I would recommend him for whatever electrical project you have going on.

James really is as good as it gets. Contacted him to install a car charger, he mentioned he also did solar, which I was planning on doing anyway. Less than a month later solar install is done and working! (car charger meanwhile hasn't even shipped yet, thanks Tesla!)

I needed a 220V outlet in my garage for an EV charging station and James did the most professional job we have ever witnessed from contractors coming in. Wow!!! I called James yesterday and described my problem, and he quickly over the phone told me what was likely wrong was an easy fix I could do myself. He walked me through the steps, and I went home and followed his instructions - lo and behold, everything worked! He was skilled enough to diagnose the most likely issue by phone, and then kind enough to help me fix it myself instead of taking advantage an opportunity to bill me for an expensive service call.

Next time something is really wrong, he will be my first call. Really impressed with his knowledge, professionalism, and kindness.

*Please Read Before You Buy* this review which isn't just about his impeccable attention to detail or better prices, rather it's about being quoted $1,800 from another local high-profile electrician to replace my breaker box which he stated was absolutely necessary, without bothering to troubleshoot. Romero from SV Electric quoted me a price almost half of what his competitor wanted but in the end within 2 minutes Romero identified the problem - a loose screw causing an arc - and charged $10 for replacement parts plus a reasonable service call fee... on a SUNDAY. Lightening-fast communication and honesty beyond reproach. The Bay Area is absolutely fortunate to have such an honest, highly-qualified and detail-oriented electrician.

He came out to quote on recessed lighting, troubleshooting, and hanging some fixtures. He took a lot of time over the quote and tried to explain some better solutions than what we had in mind. We agreed on the scope, he quoted that evening, and scheduled for the following week.

He arrived on time, demoed 5 fixtures, fitted 12 recessed lights over 3 rooms, and fitted two chandeliers. He was out and gone by 3. His drywall guy came next day and it looks like no one was ever here.

The finished product is great - his ideas on design and placement were great. He takes great pride in his work and getting you results you will be happy with.

I texted him in the evening because some things were not working after they left. He called back right away and told me where to look to fix it - it was a tripped outlet that needed resetting and it wasn't anywhere near the stuff he had touched.

James is a perfectionist - which is what you want when doing electrical work. He replaced our old panel when we first moved to our house 9 years ago and we have hired him for all electrical work since then. LED lights and new outlets for the garage, new electrical and breakers for our hot tub, and then last year - solar panels. He did such a great job and really stands behind his work. You can trust his opinion - he doesn't try to up-sell you - just tells you what is best for your situation. Can not recommend him enough.

We got a quote from another electrician and it was $300 more than Jame's quote. The other electrician also didn't do a thorough job of scooping out our layout and said he had to route wires from the inside of our house to the outside. The other electrician also told us our circuit breaker was out dates. Meaning we would need to look into getting it changed out $$$$

James was extremely thorough and gave us tips on some DIY projects to save us money. He was very honest which gave us assurance that we went with the best.

The best solar company for the job !

When it comes to solar installation and knowledge, you need to pick an electrical contractor to do the job! James is your guy! He has years of experience and managed my installation from start to finish (other companies pass you off from sales to a project engineer that has no connection to you or your needs). James came out and correctly sized my installation to my goals, provided a bid and had the installation done in a week (including inspection) !

SV Electric should definately be considered for Solar installation.

Found them on ServiceMagic in 2010. He did a whole house fan with product recommendations I found helpful, put in arbor lights with wiring and switches, fixed a couple of problem plugs and wirings, and gave me a couple of plugs and switches in attics and crawlspaces. He gave me a couple of additional minor items to add to the list that really made things like my attic light more useable and didn't add much to the bill. He came on time, knew what he was doing, had good recommendations for the work items, and left things neat when he was done. I had no worries about leaving him alone in the house. He goes in my book for my electrician of need.
Used again to update house from 100 AMP to 200, fix doorbell, put in lights in and outside garage. He patiently worked through the PG&E process and delays, did another professional job for a reasonable price. Explains why he's the electrician I call for anything.
Skip ahead to 2019. I have a new house and I had him replace 20 CFL cans with LED cans, put in 20 new LED cans, add 2 96 LED fixtures to my garage, and give me a quad plug on a wall in the garage that didn't have one and is where I would like to put a workbench. As always he's on time, quick, meticulous, and cleans up completely.
I won't decide about solar til I've been in the new house for a year, but if I decide I'll use James. There's a bunch of reasons all his reviews are 5 star.

Wonderful job!
Had the owner, James and his assistant Brandon over this weekend to install recessed lighting. They did an AMAZING job. The lights look great and it was a huge job that they managed to get done in record time. They arrived at 7am and immediately got to work busting out light after light.
They were also extremely clean when working and actually vacuumed when finished. I think my floor is cleaner now than it was before they came. LOL.
I got quotes from multiple electricians and all were either more expensive, less experienced or just flat out sketchy. SV electric gave the most competitive quote- the best timeline and seemed by far the most knowledgeable. The owner even worked with us to change the quote a million times to fit our budget which was very appreciated because changing the quote over and over again I am sure gets annoying. :-p
Originally we expected the lights for the house to be put in over 2 days, but thanks to the tireless work of James and Brandon- they were actually able to do the install in 1 day.
Amazing considering other electricians were going to charge more and expected the project to take anywhere from 3-5 days.
Very pleased with the high quality and fair pricing. Even the little screws on the light switches are lined up with each other..... a small detail that it speaks volumes about the attention to detail and the actions they take to do things the right way when working.
We happened to have a friend over while the work was being done and our friend who has also been looking for an electrician and was super impressed at the speed and diligence taken during the install.
Going to have SV back out to do more electrical work in the future. So glad we went with SV and didn't fall for one of the other more expensive companies on Yelp who estimated 3 days or the cheaper handyman electrician who claimed it would take a week to do.

James was very responsive from the time I sent my request for an estimate to the time he arrived at my house. He does email after hours so communication is easy. His quote was 10% -15% lower than another electrician's quote.

I had a NEMA 14-30 receptacle installed in my garage which involved installd the circuit breaker in existing panel and wiring the breaker through the wall to the receptacle. It took about 1.5 hours for the job. I plugged in my Clipper Creek charger and connected to my new Ford Fusion Energi plug-in hybrid and my battery was charged in 2 hours.

James is one of the most professional, honest and thorough contractors I have dealt with. After finding great reviews for him on Yelp back in April I called him for a project I needed done. I have since had him out to do more and every single time has been a great experience - quality work and very fair prices. He more than earned all of the 5 star ratings you see for him here.

Thus far he has moved all the electrical outlets for our kitchen so that the outlets are mounted under our cabinets, replaced all the recessed lighting units, and and run a new outlet for our over the fireplace mounted TV. And really, every single time I have been pleased with his work and recommendations.

One other thing that I like is that he is honest and isn't trying to make the issues you have bigger so that he can charge more.

I would HIGHLY recommend him to anyone who wants the job done right.

I've now used James twice. Once at my office in San Jose and again at a house I was working on. At my office, he rewired out a motion detector activator for my lights that was driving me crazy. I don't want to have to dance around at my office for the lights to stay on. At the home, james isolated three different issues that my contractors had left behind and blamed on each other. James had only come to review the possible problem and schedule more time for the repair on a different visit. When he saw the issue, something that had plagued me for a week was solved and fixed in 20 minutes.

Both times James's pricing was what I would consider very fair. Also, he explained everything for me and where to avoid these kinds of troubles in the future when dealing with other non electrical contractors.

Most electricians will travel to a site so even though James's office is in Morgan Hill, I'd say that Gilroy, San Jose, Milpitas, Los Gatos, Cupertino, Campbell, Saratoga and Santa Clara should consider James and not worry about the physical address of the office being a couple of cities away.

James is the SUPERMAN of electricians. You will not find a more honest, genuine, honest man to do your electrical work. I called James at 7:00AM on Sunday after July 4th to install 2 expensive light fixtures over our dining and kitchen tables. I had a handyman try the night before (never again), James came to my house at 1:00 in the afternoon and was done by 2:45. Not only did he repair the first fixture, he hung it perfectly...saving me from buying a new one after the handyman ruined it. He did an amazing job on the second fixture too. I thought his price was fair and I was very impressed with him and his work. He has everything you need in his truck to do the job and do it right...the first time. I am going to have him back in a few weeks to install 3 ceiling fans and run electric to a backyard hot tub.

I cannot say enough good things about James. From my first phone call with James, I was impressed by his knowledge of all things electrical and his professionalism. I also liked that he owns his own company (SV Electric) and does all the work himself.

James came to our house to give us a quote on various projects, and he spent over an hour and half going through various parts of our house with us. (As new homeowners, it was great to be able to ask so many questions, and to get thorough answers... and new ideas!) We hired James to do a few projects today, and I certainly can say we'll be calling on him again! James is very clean (I think he left the areas cleaner than when he came!), thoughtful, thorough, and honest. We never got the sense he was trying to push more on us than we needed. In fact, he suggested less expensive alternatives to things we thought we had needed/wanted. He went above and beyond what was expected of him, and I strongly recommend him if you're considering doing anything electrical -- however big or small. We are extremely satisfied with everything he did today -- he does excellent work!

I don't write many reviews but I just wanted to share the awesome experience I had with James. I called to get a quote to upgrade a 6-20 outlet to 14-50 in order to charge my new Tesla. He responded quickly via Yelp and provided the best quote compared to other electricians. He was here a couple days later and installed the outlet in about an hour. He was quick to point out all the dangerous mistakes the previous electrician made and described how the job should be done. Considering I have a 2 year old running around I'm very thankful that he wanted to make sure the job was done correctly and safely. He also vacuumed and swept the work area after he was done. Thanks James, you are my GO-TO for all future electrician needs!

I originally contacted James regarding a pump issue at a client's property. Instead of taking the job and charging me even though a plumber would have been better, he referred me to a pump specialist and advised if the pump specialist thought there was an electrical issue he would come out.

In fact there was an electrical issue, James came out and hooked up the electric, explained patiently to me how it works, and his recommendations for the next step.

He was helpful, knowledgeable and provided the exact service at the exact price we had discussed over the phone. I will be using James for all of our electrical needs in the future.

James Service has a winning combination of high quality and high value.
I have used James multiple times to install motion sensor lighting, fix faulty circuit breaker, and more and I was pleased with the quality of work and the reasonable price he charged for it.
James replaced a motion sensor lighting fixture that he installed and was acting up with no charge even 2 years after the initial install - this is remarkable considering that his initial pricing were very reasonable compare to his peers.

In short, I highly recommend James - if you are looking for a reliable electrician with reasonable pricing, look no further - Call James!

James stopped by the house and talked to me about what I wanted and what my options were. He gave me an estimate that I thought was fair. A few days later, he and his helper arrived right on time which I appreciated. They finished their work just when James said that they would and they left absolutely no trace of being there and even vacuum and haul away all of the trash in their own trash can. They put in new lights and dimmers in the living room and kitchen, changed out almost all of my outlets and light switches and installed new hallway lights. He has always been on time. The price he charged was extremely fair for working in commercial buildings. He was so fair, that I stopped getting quotes from other's. I had James troubleshoot some outlets in our master bathroom that had stopped working and install some new floor outlets in our living room. I contacted him based upon his positive Yelp reviews and he lived up to expectations. He was responsive, showed up on time, and did quality work. Recently purchased an ev vehicle and contacted James for a quote. James came by and noticed that our circuit breaker was jam packed and a bit unsafe. He quoted us for a new circuit breaker, installation of a 240 outlet and proper labeling of all wiring. His price was way under other quotes and his work was impeccable. James is fantastic! First time I ever used him and I can see why he is a 5-star! I will never call anyone other than SV Electric. He is meticulous, professional, personable, and very reasonably priced. I own 3 SFR rentals in Morgan Hill, and I have given all of my tenants his # to call, directly, because that's how much I trust James. In the past 4 years, I have dealt with 2 other electricians. I needed over 30 recessed CFL light fixtures replaced with LED fixtures. One electrician told me that there would probably be ceiling damage during the process and gave me a ridiculous estimate. I texted James a picture of the light fixtures and he told me what it would cost without going on-site, first. He did the job in a few hours. He covered everything. . .neatly replaced the recessed light fixtures, and vacuumed. . .he left absolutely no sign that any work had been done. Thank you, James. . .see ya' next time.

professionally and appreciate the clean job. Arrived on time and did the job in the time indicated. Provided additional information on operation and knew exactly what was needed. Also gave the rebate forms and instructions. Made some modifications as requested and made sure that the aesthetic aspects were covered like labeling switches etc. Would highly recommend James.

There is a reason why James has all five star ratings. If I could give him more stars than that, I would have done so happily.

We had some lighting that needed to be installed in our townhome's living room and kitchen. He called me back within a couple of hours of placing the initial call so as to arrange meeting to see what our options would be. He is punctual, professional, efficient, very knowledgeable, and polite. He also recommended a ceiling/texturer to remove the awful popcorn ceiling prior to the job, who has also done a great job. It felt like a two for one special! The lighting he recommended for both areas looks perfect. His rates were also very reasonable.

If you are looking for a good electrician, look no further than James. I will use him for any future electric issues here at the house. I cannot recommend him enough.

James just left after installing a whole-house fan. This is the third time I have used his services and as usual, a perfect job. The neatest and cleanest methods you will ever see from anybody who does work in your house...he uses the latest and greatest tools and technology to do the job way better than others. He's so punctual, the atomic clock can set itself by him. His prices are fair and he is worth every penny. No worries when he's in your home. I just go to the other room and don't have to hover or monitor the job. I'm just thrilled to come look when it's all done.
I will be seeing him again next week to take care of some under-cabinet lighting for us and after that, some more recessed lighting. Don't look any further, no need. No heartache nor headache when you hire James of SV Electric!

James deserves every one of the five star reviews he has. He is a total straight shooter, reasonably priced, on time, and professional. He had some great ideas for our home for the future, and was very honest with us about the pros and cons of our ideas for changing the lighting in our new home. He showed up on time, finished early, and was incredibly respectful of our child's nap schedule. James covered all our furniture before installing our new light fixtures, vacuumed afterwards, and even patched the drywall. Two enthusiastic thumbs up--we will be using him again!!!

Unprofessional. I left several messages (no live response) explaining that I had a problem which (according to internet advice) needed to be looked into quickly. No response. After the first lack of response, I requested that if SV was overloaded, at least the courtesy of a quick call back to let me know so I could contact someone else. No response. After over a week, I finally called Jet Electric and have been very happy since.

I hired James recently to reposition 2 electrical outlets in conjunction with my bathroom remodel. This was not planned, because I figured that the contractors would just be able to move the outlets. But once the walls were open, it became obvious that we needed an electrician - and quickly so that we could keep on schedule!

I yelped for an electrician in the area, and called James. He was able to come by the same day to take a look at the project. He explained that the outlets were not installed according to code and needed to be changed to GFI outlets due to their location right above the sinks. He gave a reasonable quote, and was able to come back the next morning to get the work done.

He was right on time, did a very professional job, brought the outlets up to code, and stayed on quote. And completed everything before the contractors came back, thereby keeping us on schedule! He even remembered to send me a formal invoice the next day, for my records.

I'll certainly call James again for any electrical work around the house.

James just fixed a receptacle in our house that was yellowing due to arcing. I called an electrician because I was concerned it would eventually start a fire. James had great Yelp reviews, so I figured I'd give him a try. Now I know why everyone gives him 5 stars!. James efficiently took care of the problem & managed to assuage my fears & explain everything to me (I have zero electrical knowledge) in a way I could understand. He didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need and he definitely didn't make me regret having him come out to the house. Great service, reasonable prices & honest business practices. What more can you ask for? I really hope I won't need another visit from an electrician any time soon, but if I do, I will be calling James. He does both commercial & residential, and I'm pretty sure he covers the whole Bay Area.

Highly recommend James. He's a total gem. I'm a new customer and chose him because of his excellent yelp ratings. I called and left him a message and he returned my call within the hour. When I explained my problem, he offered to walk me through some possible solutions to my problem, so I would save the cost of him coming down. I assured him that it was worth it to me to have him come down, as I'm a senior citizen and really not up to climbing around the garage trying to find switches etc.. Set up an appointment and he showed up promptly on time. Even called the same day to confirm He was very neat, very quick. Made suggestions regarding some light bulbs I might want to consider to light some dark rooms in the house. His prices were extremely reasonable . Just before he walked out the door, I mentioned that someday I'd like to have him check out a light switch upstairs that keeps shorting out the electricity in the room. He checked it out. Explained what was wrong. Gave me a temporary fix at no additional charge, and explained why the temporary approach was needed. One of the best experiences I've ever had with an electrician. He's the best in the area. You won't be disappointed using his services. A+++++++

Found them on ServiceMagic. He did a whole house fan with product recommendations I found helpful, put in arbor lights with wiring and switches, fixed a couple of problem plugs and wirings, and gave me a couple of plugs and switches in attics and crawlspaces. He gave me a couple of additional minor items to add to the list that really made things like my attic light more useable and didn't add much to the bill. He came on time, knew what he was doing, had good recommendations for the work items, and left things neat when he was done. I had no worries about leaving him alone in the house. He goes in my book for my electrician of need. My complaints really are for me - I wish I had researched the arbor lights a bit more so I had a better idea of style and size. His are functional and well installed, but I would have paid for fancier. Net - even with a great service provider you need to know what you want done.
Used again to update house from 100 AMP to 200, fix doorbell, put in lights in and outside garage. He patiently worked through the PG&E process and delays, did another professional job for a reasonable price. Explains why he's the electrician I call for anything.

I found James through the ServiceMagic website and so glad I did. He installed 7 recessed lights in my family room, added electric for a plasma TV, hung the TV and did a few minor electrical repairs. When I called to get a quote, he came the same day, showed up on time and came totally prepared, he brought samples of the lights he uses and spent a lot of time discussing how it would best be laid out in the room. He said he would have the quote to me shortly after he left and within a couple of hours I had it. I did get two additional quotes from two other electricians, one of them didn't even want to come out, he quoted me on the phone, the other came out but came no where near the professionalism as James and he wouldn't hang the TV, only install the electrical. After talking with the other two electricans, I knew immediately that I wanted James to do the work. After I called James to give him the job, he immediately went to work on getting the bracket for the tv and called me a couple of times to discuss the options to make sure I would be satisfied. On the day the work was to start, he showed up right on time with his apprentice electrician (who's name I forgot, but he was very polite, professional as well, a pleasure to talk with) and they went to work. They covered all the furniture, insisted on moving everything for me - just so professional. He was so organized, efficient, meticulous - seriously to find someone with his work ethic is amazing. They did an awesome job. He made sure my TV worked before he left and his helper even programmed the remote. Total cost was $1290 which included labor and materials. I didn't select him based on his price, although coincidentally it was the best, but really because I was so impressed with his professionalism. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for an electrician and I will be calling him again.

His work is a thing of beauty: neat, LABELED, organized, done quickly and perfectly. He thought of everything well in advance! The new fuse box installation was smaller than the previous one and he had a good, cheap stucco man lined up to fill the gap in our wall.Another perfect job! Moreover I can't praise his personality enough! When a stranger must tramp through your home it is wonderful when he is sensitive to cleanliness and respectfulness...ok and he is just so darn hardworking, intelligent and plain old nice. I'd recommend him to anyone for electrical work, especially the big jobs!

I am very pleased with the work that James did. We had a kitchen remodel done over 10 years ago (by another contractor). Years ago, the under cabinet florescent lights stopped working. I thought about replacing the lights with LEDs. I contacted James at SV Electric (through Service Magic) and he recommended that we replace the ballasts. We did this over the phone. James ordered the ballasts and then we made an appointment to come out to install them. He was on time and promptly proceeded to get all of the lights working! I actually priced the replacement costs of the ballasts on the web and found James' pricing to be the same as what I could get them for. And with just a reasonable charge for labor I am very pleased. He even noticed a crack in the field tile around an electrical outlet. A screw which was installed by the original kitchen remodeler had cracked the tile. James installed a slightly larger wall plate which covered the crack and shortened the screw so that it wouldn't continue to crack the tile.
I would highly recommend James and SV Electric.

I had James come by to install an EV charger and new panel by our garage. He was extremely punctual, gave us a great quote and did clean, quality work. After he was finished, I realized I needed an adjustment to the charger and he came by and fixed things for no extra cost. We happen to meet James from a contractor. James grounded some of our outlets, reversed some outlets, installed a garage door plug, installed GFCIs, stapled wires in the attic, and enclosed some loose electrical splices. He was efficient and he did a thorough job. He was also reasonably priced and he made some cost-saving suggestions. As new homeowners, we really appreciate that he patiently answered all of our questions and concerns. I have dealt with more than 9 contractors in the past 9 months working on several projects and have to say that James stands out with his professionalism, experience, and willingness to explain how he will complete the project in the most efficient way according to the National Electric standard codes. I had James from SV Electric change out an old main service panel for me recently. I was very happy with the work. I knew approximately how much it would cost since I got a few other previous bids. James bid was in-line with the others. Unlike other contractors, he was responsive to my emails and phone calls. He came out and talked with me to discuss my options. He made suggestions that were in the best interest of my remodel. He coordinated with PG&E and the city inspector to change out the panel in 1-day. He supplied a generator (and gas) to power my home and refrig but I never used it since the power was only out for 3 hrs. I have some additional electrical work to be done and I'll definitely call on James to do the work.

I contacted James to address an obviously defective light switch after reading the positive comments on this forum, and everyone was right on. Even though today is his day off, when he heard my descriptions about the electrical problem, he gave me his rates over the phone and was at my location the same day. He explained what he was doing and why as he worked - very knowledgable and professional and comes prepared to minimize running out to get materials. Also pays alot of attention to details as he puts things back together - very much appreciated because I didn't have to say anything - James just took care of it. Awesome!

We used James on my house remodel, and he was our best contractor. He responded promptly to all our questions and needs and really worked with our schedule to get his part done on time. His prices were very competitive...wish we had used him to upgrade the electrical box. And he doesn't nickel and dime you--he'll take care of a few small things for you in the middle of a big job.
