I needed a level 2 EV charger installed, and Grover Electric caught my eye on Yelp due to the numerous highly rated reviews. Ric's Facetime consult was quick and convenient, and the quote given was quite fair to other quotes I had received.

For the installation, Pepe was wonderful. We ran into some unforeseen obstacles for the wiring due to the position of the panel and charger, but Pepe was able to structure a neat workaround and got the job done in a very timely manner!

The entire experience from beginning to end was of the highest standard of professionalism and customer service. I would strongly recommend these gentlemen to others and will certainly give them more business for future electrical issues.

We had an issue at our home where a number of outlets stopped working after plugging in an appliance. I called Grover Electric and got an immediate call back. After explaining the issue, they walked me through the potential solution, and within 15 minutes I had an appointment scheduled for their first available time slot. They provided an estimate over the phone that I was very comfortable with.

Pepe showed up at our house on time and was very friendly. We have 3 dogs and a newborn, and he was comfortable with the dogs and was very kind and aware to not disturb our child. He started working immediately and diagnosed a number of issues at the house that we did not anticipate. He worked diligently and efficiently to correct the issues we had, and even provided some advice on what we can improve at the house without pushing us into spending more money. He was extremely fair in the final price he gave us, which was even better than the quote I received!

I highly recommend Grover Electric, and especially Pepe for anything you might need. I will be hiring them any time I have electrical issues or questions.

The bedrooms in my house don't have recessed lighting so I started researching on Yelp. I found Grover Electric and chose them based on the reviews, verified license, and the fact that they're in Danville.

When I started requesting for quotes, Ric Grover was the only vendor who offered to FaceTime which was an amazing first touch to get to know me and my vision for the bedroom lighting. After a few text messages, we had an appointment scheduled for the following week.

On the day of the install; Pepe, who was the foreman on the job came by to get started. Pepe is super friendly, entertaining, and really knows what he's talking about. Not only was he able to do the job quickly, but he made everything look so perfect in terms of light placement and temperature. The job took less than 8 hours to complete for 12 lights across 3 rooms.

On top of a great job, Pepe offered some electrical advice and even helped me with a few small things around the house that's beyond my electrical expertise.

Overall, I had a great experience with Ric and Pepe and will probably never call another electrician as long as these two are around. If you're in the San Ramon/Tri Valley area, I would highly recommend them.

Some wires had fallen down in my garage so I tried reattaching them to the ceiling using a staple gun. I accidentally stapled through one of the wires, and was worried this would create a fire hazard. I called Grover, and they gave me an appointment within a few days to come out and take a look. Pepe came by and let me know that there was no fire hazard, and that the wire was totally fine. He reattached the fallen wires for me at no charge, and was on his way. Super friendly, helpful, and honest. I will 100% be calling Grover again for any future electric issues. They gained a loyal customer today.

I found Grover Electric through Yelp, searching for home EV charger install. Pressed the button to get a quote.

Ric was quick to respond via the Yelp messaging. Provided a number to text or call to schedule a video call for the quote. Doing a video call is ingenious so they don't have to come out twice.
Through the video call, Ric was very quick to take a look at our electrical panel area and identified where our new outlet would go. (Just below our electrical panel.) Pretty quickly gave us a price after basically one look through the phone camera as to where it was going to be installed.

When we decided to set up an installation appointment, just texted the same number with a couple of days that worked for us. Got a response for a time range on one of the days, ended up working for us.

Day-of we received a text message of a 35 min ETA, that was within the time range provided.

Unfortunately did not get the installer's name, but he was friendly and quick. He didn't have a part so after he started the work he let me know to close my garage and that he was off to Home Depot to get some parts. Came back and was done within another 30-45 min.

The panel plate was put back in place, left the area very clean after knocking the small part of the wall for the install.

Highly recommend for easy appointment scheduling, and quick & friendly service.

We recently had work done in our kitchen, and, well, we started having electrical problems shortly thereafter: switches did not work the same way, one of the circuit breakers kept tripping and then finally a couple of our outlets shot out sparks. Clearly, this was beyond us.

We found Grover Electric on Yelp, and called them. Pepe came out the next morning. After confirming the issue was not the GFCI outlet, he immediately diagnosed the issues we were having and not only corrected them, he showed us what he was doing and explained what had originally gone wrong. We are absolutely thrilled. Pepe was so professional, and he even made suggestions for our kitchen lighting. We are glad we went with Grover Electric.

Wow, I am so impressed and happy with Ric and his amazing service. Our outlets weren't working and he hopped on a FaceTime call with me and saw the issue right away (all over video, a pro!!!) Reached out to a variety of vendors for quotes on an outlet install in my garage for a new ev. Ric quickly got back to me, asked for a few pics/videos of my panel and garage setup, and provided a recommendation with a full breakdown/explanation. I had some indoor sconces and a backyard cabana light fixture that I wanted installed. This company is brilliant. Blew the electricity on a Sunday at 1pm, sent message and got contacted within the hour. Gave me advice on how to fix issue over the phone for free. Well that didn't work so they sent a guy and he fixed it in ten minutes. Pepe Battle troubleshooted some wiring issues in my home that a handyman previously couldn't resolve. He was extremely diligent in identifying and making what was a previously unknown and unsafe wiring situation to one that my family can now feel safe about. On top of that, he fixed two incorrectly installed ceiling fan housings to install two new ceiling fans. Pepe is a master electrician who is truly knowledgeable about all aspects of his profession. I will definitely contract with Grover Electric for any future electrical projects in my house.

I can only give them a four as I actually did not use them but when I called to ask about their services and told them what was going on at my mother's house he said he knew exactly what it was and that I needed to contact PG&E because it was a power surge. PG&E came out and replaced something on the telephone pole out front and checked all the fuses in Breakers but didn't get any lights really on. He was able to get power to my mother's microwave and the ceiling light in the living room but not the heater or the lights. He suggested I call an electrician so Grover might be hearing from me very soon.

Just the most awesome individual and electrician ever. We had just moved into our new place and had a huge list of items ranging from small to very complex and Rick took care of everything and went way beyond.

He took time to explain us every step of the process. Walked us through items we can do on our own and things he can take care of. Guided us on what materials we can get on our own to save money and showed us specific items online, in Costco and other retailers.

Just so happy with Rick. Definitely recommend him to anyone out there

Quick call back. Provided phone support to try to solve the problem at no cost. When Electrician arrived, he was professional, cordial and clearly knowledgeable. Completed the repair within one hour. Charge was exactly as estimated. Highly recommend.

Issue was no power to three rooms. All breakers and GFI's were checked prior to the service call. Electrician's testing of outlets identified a burned out wire (we have aluminum wiring - which is lousy compared to copper), he repaired it, made some constructive suggestions to avoid future problems and was on his way.

I had a problem of losing all kitchen outlets power during the lunch time. I called Mr Grover. He was very nice and asked me to show the issue over FaceTime. Mr. Grover helps to diagnose gfci reset problems over FT and guided me to reset the gfci and fix the problem. It only took less than 5 mins and free of charge!

Ric was fantastic! I called him to check our electrical panel when the dryer kept blowing the fuse. He was super responsive and came out immediately. He was honest about what needed to be done and replaced the entire panel for us. We also had him come out to install two huge chandeliers. He did a fantastic job and they turned out beautifully. The outlets under my sink for the garbage disposal and dishawasher weren't working. I called in the morning and received a call back in the afternoon and he was able to do a quick Facetime call and walked me through making the quick reset on one of the breakers (about 5 mins). The issue was resolved right away and there was no charge. I appreciate his willingness to help and save me the time and money to have someone come out. This is exactly the type of company I need as my local electrican; one that cares for customers and treats them like people. I saved them in my phone for all my electrical issues I have in the future. Highly recomend!

My master bedroom power was out due to a portable heater i had used the previous night, that had tripped the circuit breaker which wouldn't come back on. I called Grover electric and Ric immediately responded and resolved the issue in the next couple of hours. He was able to immediately identify that i had a faulty circuit breaker that needs to be fixed and resolved the same. Would highly recommend Grover electric to anyone looking for a licensed electrician as Ric is very knowledgeable, friendly and quick to resolve electrical issues.

Excellent service. Possibly the most knowledgeable electrician I've ever worked with. No shortcuts, everything is done to code, meticulously and exceptionally so. I've used Grover twice so far. I will continue to call on their services.

The most recent job was to add multiple outlets in the garage and laundry room. Next job will be to add recessed power outlets in the bedrooms for TV mounting, and the one after that will be for an outdoor sauna, and then a shed, and possibly a pool house. Oh lord. Plenty of things to be done.

Rick is awesome and his number is staying in my phone. He installed a brand new fan (no prior wiring) in our office and put a new ceiling fan in our living room (already wired). He then fixed two other problems caused by workers we've used before. One was taking a light switch inside our closet and he moves it the wall where it should have been this whole time. He also added another remote to a ceiling fan in another room. He is super knowledgeable and friendly and I would not hesitate to hire him again. Top quality work. He also has a messaging/communication system to notify you when he is on his way and he was also able to text me the bid. He accepted payment by venmo or check or cash. Left voicemail Late Tuesday, Ric called back first thing Wed morning, and was able to come by Wednesday afternoon. He did a safety inspection based on my explanation of issues, and found some serious issues at my sub panel. He explained things as we went along the inspection and tightened up loose connections in the main panel. After he opened up the sub-pane, it was obvious I needed to replace the sub panel. He gave me a price and with the 10% senior discount, I asked when he could replace it and he said tomorrow. This because of the severity of the problem, I need it done ASAP. No pressure from him, my decision based on the problems he showed me. He picked up all the parts and started about 9:30. He was able to finish in one day about 3:30. He did a neat clean job, I am happy with his work along with the price.

Found myself looking for a last minute electrician and when most people weren't answering phones or were unavailable, Ric answered right away. With a super friendly attitude, he said he could be over within the hour to begin investigating the cause of our electrical problems. Once he arrived he helped explain each step he took to troubleshoot the issue, making sure I understood everything that was being done. We went down the checklist and within 30m we identified the issue and had it resolved like nothing ever happened. Overall the experience was super easy and quick while Ric was nothing but professional and personable. If you are searching for an electrician, definitely go with Ric.

My day was (almost) a total disaster...until Rick showed up!

To make a long miserable story short...

I arose at 3:30 AM for a 5:35 AM flight out of OAK on SWA. I boarded the plane and sat while the maintenance crew worked on an electrical problem (shoulda called Rick!) Was de-planed and told after waiting in line for an hour, Sorry, you won't make your destination today.

With no option, I returned home to deal with an electrical problem I discovered at 3:31 AM - no power to bath #2. F*#$k! At least I used my time on the tarmac wisely - searched Yelp for an electrician...

I called Grover Electric around late morning (which seemed like early afternoon since I did not sleep well and arose super early). Rick asked me a series of diagnostic questions - nice of him to try and help - before I announced, I'm toast. I just want someone to get out here TODAY and fix the issue. Rick told me he'd arrive between 2-4 PM and text me when he was on his way - he did.

Within moments of his arrival, I had a new bro (a dude you identify with, trust and have his back.) Rick has a great bedside manner - he makes you feel at ease and gives a great sense that he'll fix the issue without a great deal of pain ($$$).

So...?

Well, Rick opened the electrical panel, nosed around and without stepping inside my home or inspecting the upstairs bathroom, he found the culprit! Unbelievably, (not) the home builder's electrician did a poor job tightening down my home's copper wires to the breakers (that's why lights flicker in my house!)

Rick showed me what was going on, pulled the breaker, cleaned it out, cut off the damaged wires, re-terminated the wires and checked the entire panel (he found a bunch of loose wires which would have eventually failed and forced me to have a new electrical panel installed - ~$1,500!)

And?

My day ended well. I got my electrical problem fixed. I didn't make my destination on SWA, but I got to kiss my wife goodnight with my arm around her as I fell asleep in my own bed...and my bathroom lights are working! Oh, and it cost me $135 - less than a few 3 star dinners I've had recently.

Thanks Rick (bro!), you are one cool guy and my Bro-to-go-to electrician!

I called yesterday with an electrical problem at my place in Walnut Creek . Ric picked up the phone and was very helpful. He even asked if we had done some troubleshooting on our own (so we wouldn't have to pay an electrician). That was really nice. He told me that he would stop by in the afternoon and he was there as promised. Prices are reasonable and they do great work. I Highly recommend Grover Electric.

Rick and his assistant installed 14 Lutron Caseta switches in my house today as I needed to replace all of my insteon equipment. After leaving a voicemail with Rick explaining exactly what I needed I got a return call that stated a price that was clear and straight forward. I called him back to schedule and he showed up on time and texted prior to his arrival to let me know his ETA. He completed the job quickly after sorting through some wiring issues from the previous install and everything works as designed. My job would have been completed an hour sooner had I ordered all the correct parts which Rick picked up during the job. I had a competing bid from BR Electric who I have used in the past and their bid was THREE TIMES the cost of work completed by Rick. As I mentioned it would have been even lower if I had all the correct items to complete the job. Very pleased with the work, cost, and professionalism. Kept his card for future work.

Rick is an honest, friendly, knowledgeable and efficient Electrician. When I first called him, he patiently walked me through repairing the problem myself on the phone, of course without charge (it was an open short in a GFI Circuit). When the problem cropped up again a few days later, he came and quickly diagnosed the problem and repaired the short, while also making sure all potential electrical safety issues were addressed. I'd gladly call him again!

I found Grover Electric on yelp and was impressed by Rick's professionalism. He arrived when he said he would. He took a look at our lights and recommended we swap out the bulbs for LEDs to save energy and helped us install a timer on our driveway lights.

He installed the LEDs and timer in record time and I am very pleased with the service Rick provided.

At 3:00 PM on Friday, my outlets quit working - which included no internet. I called Rich on the recommendation of a friend in Dublin. He said he would be to my home in an hour and a half. Now, mind you, I am talking a Friday afternoon.... and sure enough he arrived as promised. Within 20 minutes he figured out what my issue was and fixed it. There is a special class of providers of home services -- for folks you can trust, who have the wisdom & experience to methodically go through and figure out the problem, fix it right the first time, then tell you how to never let it happen again. This is my special class for folks like Ric Grover, of Grover Electric.

Remember, your cost is lower when the service people get the job done right the first time. Experience and common sense reduce the number of billable hours, so if the price that you are quoted is too high, maybe it's because they work faster or better than the others, so the total cost to you is actually lower.

When I have an electrical problem that I cannot figure out, my first call is to Grover. Always. I get a straight no nonsense answer, and realistic total cost estimates.

I highly recommend Grover Electric! Two years ago when I moved to Danville, Rick from Grover Electric, installed several ceiling fans, wall switches, and 20 recessed lights in my house. Recently I used his services for a second time to install a couple more ceiling fans and an electrical outlet in a kitchen island. He did a great job the first time and just as great the second time! Consistency!!

I called Grover Electronics because my treadmill and tv in the garage tripped the outlet and wouldn't reset. It also took with it the outlet that powers my garage door. I tried flipping the breakers labeled garage in the garage circuit panel but no luck. He recommended that I flip every breaker because they are not always labeled correctly. He was right!! It actually wasn't one of the circuits in the garage panel but the panel outside which controlled the irrigation system, air conditioning, etc. It was the one breaker that was unlabeled. It was nice that he was willing to help and pass along some good advice over the phone even though I wasn't a paying customer.

Based on this experience I will definitely call Grover Electric for any future electrical needs!

I hired Ric at Grover electric to come out multiple times after an initial upgrade to our homes sub-panel - which he did a fantastic job on to begin.

We were in the middle of a backyard renovation and needed electrical work done at various stages for outdoor lights, outlets and power for an outdoor kitchen. Ric worked seamlessly around the landscaping crew and we're very happy with the results.

The thing about Ric is he is completely transparent about his work. I wasn't sure where we should place various duplex outlets and how much power we would need for the outdoor kitchen so he and I worked through all of the scenarios of where we'd need hook ups to get things just perfectly fine tuned.

Have used them in past and saved me a lot of money finding an economical solution when a more costly one was advised by other companies. Recently a phone discussion of the problem, several plugs not working, and gave some possible solutions I could try myself before having them come out and determine it. Part of my house lost power. After I checked that all circuit breakers looked okay, I texted Rick for an appointment. He texted back saying that maybe he could help resolve the problem on the phone; if he came in, he would also have to charge me.

He was able to walk me through the problem free of charge.

Rick was incredibly courteous. If I have another problem that requires an electrician, I know exactly who to call.

A circuit in my house tripped a breaker and the breaker wouldn't reset. I tried doing some diagnosis myself but had no luck. I checked yelp to find an electrician and started making calls. Rick got back to me quickly. He said he could be over between noon and 2. He showed up right at 1:15. He started opening receptacle and switch plates to track down where the short was occurring. He found the plug that had gone bad, replaced it and we decided to have him replace the other 3 old plugs in the room and replace the old-style pigtail adapters for wire nuts. He quickly had everything back up and running.

Our house had a partial power outage - kitchen still had juice but all bedrooms and bathrooms out. Very annoying! I checked all the GFIs on the outlets and tried resetting the breakers. No Luck. After calling PG&E and getting a automatic service appointment I tried leaving a few messages to some local electricians.

Ric called me back in the morning. He was friendly and best of all asked me questions to try to understand the problem. He said it was better to wait for PG&E to have a first look since if it's an issue that's outside the house, an electrician is unlikely going to help. His advice was spot on and saved me $150 that I would have spent on another electrician who offered to troubleshoot the issue for me. A 5-min phone conversation from Ric helped me attack the right problem. A big Thank You to Ric! He'll be first in my list if I ever need an electrician.

It turned out that Ric was right. PG&E came a few hours later and got my power back up. It was a temporary fix - a long ugly wire from their power box into my smart meter cabinet outside the house. The PG&E guy said their was some outside wire that got damaged - which meant insufficient power going into the house (hence a partial power outage). I'm hoping they return later to get a more permanent fix but for now I'm happy to have power back.

Have lived in our house for 10+ years with no electrical issues. Messaged Grover and a number of other well-reviewed electrical contractors through Yelp when the power to the house lights and other equipment started to dim/drop when running higher power appliances.

Most said they would come and take a look for a standard call out fee, some asked me to call so they could quote on the phone.

Ric from Grover Electric advised me to check with PGE first - and it was indeed a PGE issue.

So glad we did not have anyone charge us a fortune for coming out and telling us the same thing, or worse coming out and doing work that was not needed.

I had several electrical issues with the home I purchased in Lafayette. After searching around and looking at Yelp reviews (thank you), I ended up calling Grover Electric. Ric called me back promptly and set a time and date for him to come over. He was right on time. He reviewed the problem with the old kitchen pendant lights and a bedroom light that I thought had a short.

The pendant lights were old and could not be repaired, while the closet light had the wrong kind of bulb in it. So, I set a return date for new pendant lights over my kitchen island, and put the correct bulb into the closet socket.

Ric returned and installed the new pendant lights very quickly and professionally. He is the no-nonsense kind of guy and gives all the details up front so you can make a decision. He is the kind of serviceperson you want working on your home issues.

I called Grover 1 years ago my entry door light was bed any time work and any time fill like almost turn on, Grove come to my house on Monday morning on time and repair the Wires after 1 hour I got my door light fix and work great again.

I cannot say enough about Rick and Grover Electric! We had a near disaster when PG&E cut off our power due to a temporary patch made by who knows who (PG&E?) years ago at our power box. We had a short time window to get if fixed while the power was off while the company did other repairs to the grid. We called numerous companies with poor response, but when my husband contacted Grover Electric, Rick was out within the hour. He even ran to Home Depot to get the special bolts needed for the repair. We could have been without power for days or weeks while a contractor coordinated with PG&E to turn off the power for the repair. Thank goodness for Rick! He is an angel....great attitude, professional, and fast. We now have our power back when we were planning on having to throw everything out of the refrigerator. From now on, there is only one electrician we will call....Grover Electric. Thank you SO much, Rick!

I have back problems and have trouble in walking he was super empathetic in listening to my issues and was very easy to work with. Did not waste his time despite being on an hourly assignment.

We set up an appointment with Rick to quote some electrical work.

He came to appt. on time and quoted changing out our pot lights to leds, replacing a broken bedroom fan (lights were stuck on all the time), and changing out a broken outdoor patio light fixture. We hired him and he zipped to the store to buy parts and came back and got everything done except changing one of the lights that he couldn't reach because he didn't have a tall enough latter.

After the work was done the bedroom fan light would intermittently come on briefly at random times. Called him to follow up on that which involved a series of calls and text. He came out and replaced the fan remote with a universal. Unfortunately, the fan light still has the same problem. Tried calling and texting Rick, no response. He's difficult to get a hold of in general, and he has you text him the appointment details repeatedly. I get the feeling that if I kept calling him, he'd probably follow up but I don't have the energy for it at this point. Going to try and find another electrician who's less busy.

Seriously, Ric is the man. I have a 1947 Mid-Century Modern House... very early flat-roofed, slab on grade construction. A total anomaly here in the bay area. The house had original '47 components, 80 amp service, stab-loc explodo-matic panels, crispy ancient looking sub-panels and a host of crap that had been screwed with for YEARS by novice electricians. Ric came in and gave me the best quote of 3.. but what he had special was... a great way about him, a confidence in his voice that he would have no issue tackling the job and a great feeling of honesty about him. The job was done quickly, with minimum down time... it looks and works amazing, passed inspection with flying colors and didn't bankrupt me in the process. 200 amp service later I have added both safety and value to my Berkeley Architecture Library registered home. I literally called him at about 3:30PM today and not only did he come out within the hour (and I was not pushing for him to come ASAP), he ran to buy the part that was needed to fix my pool light breaker, came back and was done by 5:30PM. Wow, great service. Pepe came right on time, and immediately homed in on a rather tricky diagnostic problem, using his many years of experience and savvy.

Some sockets in one room were out, as well as a light switch in a completely different room, and Pepe figured out that it was due to the lousy crimps that the original developer used. There is no way I would have figured that out on my own, so it really pays to have experienced experts troubleshoot problems like this. In less than an 1/2 and hour he had everything fixed and back in place. I will definitely call Grover Electric for any future electrical needs!

We have a home with both copper and aluminum wiring. We had an electrical outlet arc and luckily did not catch on fire. We had one company come out they took one quick look at one of our electrical panels and told us our home was not safe and then proceeded to give us a bill for thousands of dollars with no completion date in mind and expected an answer that same day! We were shocked and wanted a second opinion. I asked around and was referred to Ric from Grocer Electric. I called him and he was out in a few days for an assessment. He recommended he go through and check all of our outlets and switches and make sure they are wired correctly with the correct pigtail and purple nut made for aluminum. He was thorough and explained every step of the process to us. The job was finished in 2 days and was completed on time and on budget. Great experience with Grover Electric this past weekend. Our new wall oven was installed improperly by the appliance company hired by Pacific Sales. The wires were exposed and burning in the wall!

Rick just installed 4 recessed lights in our downstairs bedroom and replaced 3 additional existing bullet style recessed lights in our living room. He was reasonably priced, quoted my estimate over the phone and was able to fit me in within a week. He texted to keep me posted on his arrival time and installed the new lights without leaving any holes in my downstairs ceiling. I needed an electrician on very short notice. Between my fiance and I, we called 12 electricians who either didn't answer the phone, didn't call us back, or couldn't do the job on such short notice. Called Rick to come and fix my breaker, he checked and found nothing wrong other than the fact that I forgot to reset my GFCI (embarrassing!). He gave me a few tips on how to prevent my appliances from tripping the breaker. He told me he wasn't going to charge me for the visit, even if it was on a Saturday afternoon. Be very careful of this guy. His state contractor's license is under suspension. He scammed us for couple hundred dollars claiming he replaced several electrical items to solve a problem. Found out later that replacing those items is not necessary. He did not give us the items that he said he replaced.

We were in the middle of a hard scape job where we had a planned outdoor lighting installation. The install team proposed a wiring solution that was not aesthetically pleasing, nor 100% safe. I called Ric on Tuesday morning and he met me at the house that night. He discussed options for wiring an additional outside outlet and then running the transformer for the lighting through that with the wires properly configured and concealed largely out of sight. He was courteous, efficient, did a great job at a fair price, and has quite a sense of humor as well. The lights work perfectly and we will not hesitate to use Ric in future.

I recently had some major issues with a general contractor I hired for a remodel. In order to get the job done, I started watching youtube on how to do electrical work (first mistake). The power in half of my house went out Sunday morning and again Monday night. Reset the main breaker Sunday, but it did not work when I tried Monday. Called some electricians on Tuesday who said they could get me an appointment next Monday. Called Grover Electric and they came the same day as promised, within a few hours. They determined right away that the problem was with a bad PG&E cable. They were so very friendly and efficient, and did not even charge me for their time. I will definitely call them in the future if any electrical problems arise. (PG&E was able to come the same day and fixed the problem).

Don't want to do a negative review for a local business but this is what happened.

I had 2 electrical problems: a wall socket/switch that wasn't working and a canned ceiling light with bad ballast (I mentioned over the phone that it was a fluorescent light from sea gull lighting and that I had tried multiple good bulbs).

He found the switch was part of a 3 way switch and the 2nd switch was just stuck so pressing it fixed it. Great.

The canned light, he asked me to order a ballast and he'd come and install it (because he didn't know it was a fluorescent light, odd, since I said that on the phone). He insisted that I could order the ballast by simply called sea gull lighting with the bulb part number.

The total was $135 for touching a switch and I'm on the hook to order the right things for the bigger problem and pay again for another visit. Out the door in 10 minutes for the easy money. Argh, the whole idea of calling a professional was so they would take care of the problem.

Of course, I called sea gull lighting and they need a ballast model number which I have no clue. So, if I need to pay more money, then I'm going to call another company.

Luckily, another company came out, simply replaced the canned light unit all together, and the total was only $125. He said that for a 26W bulb, almost any ballast would have worked.

In summary, my disappointment was not so much the price but not handling the job from start to finish.

I was having trouble with my home outlets - hot ground reverse. Basically I had a hot neutral wire which is very bad. Rick came by today and helped trouble shoot the issue. I called Grover Electric on a Monday and they were out here by Tuesday. We had a fairly simple project, but one that required someone with the right tools and expertise so that it got done right. Outside GFI switch ultimately was the culprit, but we determined that one of the outlets that hadn't worked was due to an in-wall problem. The rest of the problem was solved after replacing the GFI. Rich also provided guidance on rip and replacing our existing can lighting with the new and improved LED lights. He showed up in the timeframe he provided and finished up quickly.

I had some contractor work coming up which need one of my two breaker boxes turned off. I wasn't sure whether this would work with a new solar system installed a couple years ago, so I went out and flipped one of the two main breakers off. This shut off the box I needed to be shut off, but when I tried to turn it back on, nothing happened. The solar company and PG&E both told me it was not their equipment, but the PG&E guy was kind enough to tell me that all I needed was a new main breaker....the one I had was 35 years old original equipment. The first electrical emergency company I called at 1:30 in the afternoon, wanted $775 to show up and diagnose the problem, plus the cost of the repair. The second was Rick Grover. He answered himself. He said he was on his way to Home Dumpo and to text him a photo of the breaker which I did. He picked up the part, showed up about 4:30 and installed the part in about five minutes. Total cost....$345.....less than half what the other guys were going to charge to show up. From there, he went on to check some other work that I had done mysel. We spent another 30 minutes to do that and compare notes on the wisdom of solar systems....no additional charge. I can only say good things.

We've been living in our home for over 22 years and wanted to have all the old electrical switches and plugs updated as well as fix a few quirks with those 3 and 4 way switches that never seemed to work properly. I called Grover Electric and spoke with Rick. He sent out Ryan and within a few days everything was new and working! About three months passed and we found that one of the rarely used three way switches was not working quite right so I called and Rick came out himself and fixed the problem. So happy I called Rick from Grover Electric. We just moved into our home about 2months and still finding the quirks of the home. Today we found a big quirk. We noticed smoke coming from the ground from an old electrical pipe which is not normal. . We called up Grover Electronic to come out on a Friday night (6:30) to check it out. From the phone call to the end he was great to work with. Helped us with our problem right away .He fixed the problem and we're happy we didn't electrocute anyone since we've been here. Great guy! If you're looking for an electrician you cant go wrong with Rick. We'll definitely use him again for any electrical work in our home.

I highly recommend Ric of Grover Electric. Great electrician. Does a great job. Nice guy. Comes when he says he will. Calls ahead to let you know exact time of arrival. Friendly. Knows his stuff.

I found Ric of Grover Electric through reading Yelp reviews, so I wanted to share my experience. First I hired Grover Electric to replace a lighting fixture at a rental condo I just bought, and also asked him to install two other ceilIng fixtures (in closets), where previous fixtures had been capped off. One required additional work because the right wires were not under the capped area. He did not charge extra for that. He was fast and efficient in getting those fixtures installed and they work great.

Then I hired Ric of Grover Electric to do much more extensive work. I am moving the location of my washer and dryer and because they are Little Giants, the commercial grade appliances made by Miele, the dryer needed a step down transformer to convert 240V house current to 208 V current.

Ric had to run two 240 V lines from the breaker box to the new laundry room, then he had to wire the transformer so it would do what we needed it to do. He had to install the correct, special European outlets that will accomodate the German-made washer and dryer plugs . He had to run the wire from the ceiling of the laundry room, down through the wall, then bring the wire through to the inside at washer height. All the work was very cleanly done and finished, in the correct location. He showed me with a volt meter that my new outlets are delivering the correct voltage that my new European appliances require.

Ric also installed a new front door light fixture, a new back door light fixture, a new bathroom light fixture, and he switched an on-off light switch with a dimmer switch.

I am so relieved to find an electrician that I can call when I need something done. After having bad experiences with othet electricians, it is a pleasure to have a good guy that I know will do the job when he says he will, and do it right.

If you want a good and honest electrician in the area, Rick is the man to go to. I was about to spend over $200 for a job that was not necessary. What I wanted was to have a shop light come on with my already installed bulbs in the ceiling of my garage. I thought I needed to add another outlet. Instead, Rick told me a much more easier and cost effective way. After speaking with Rick, I just needed to pick up an adapter at Home Depot for a few bucks to accomplish what needed to be done. Rick was honest enough to share this with me. If I ever do need to have some real electrical work done, I'll know who to call. Thanks Rick!

Above and beyond all that he is prompt, communicates well on scheduling, timing and cost. I just moved to the area and have found my go to electrician!

I had Grover Electric come out to fix a problem with my circuit breaker. Over the phone they said the service call would be free. When they arrived they charged me $250 and said the free only applied if they did repairs (they would discount the fee from the total cost). They also said the repairs would cost $1800. Feeling uncomfortable with all this, I chose not to have them repair anything. I later had a friend recommend someone else who indicated the repairs Grover Electric was proposing were unnecessary and overpriced.

I would not recommend using these people. If you do, be VERY careful.

I could not be happier with the service I've gotten from Ric at Grover Electric. After having had a less-than-satisfactory experience with my previous electrician, I was on the quest to find somebody reliable and trustworthy. I called a few other electricians and nobody called me back--seriously, how are some of these people in business?! I then called Ric and he--amazingly--picked up the phone! He came by that same day to give me an estimate for moving a couple light switches, installing cabinet lighting, and some lights in the closet. The price was fantastic and he took care of the job immediately.

Ric is professional and does stellar work at a great value. He is on time, reliable, and has the highest integrity of anybody I've met in his industry. I wholeheartedly recommend him and will call on him and him alone whenever I need servicing in the future.

Just had Rick from Grover Electric rewire a light switch to handle my Belkin WEMO wireless light switch.. Rick did the job for a reasonable price. He was very professional and showed up at the appointed time. I highly recommend Grover Electric. I tried to contact other electricians prior to Grover Electric and they did not return calls or recommended that I call other companies. I used Yelp to find Grover and I am very happy I did.

I called Grover Electric mainly because of all of the positive reviews on Yelp. The reviews were spot on!!! Called because our gate to our property wasn't working even though electricity seemed to be working. Rick sent his guy out to help us within the hour!!!! His guy Pepe will now be our forever 'go-to' electrician! I can't say enough about Pepe and his persistence to diagnose our problem and fix it while he was at our house. Most electricians or plumbers I have experienced would have giving up on this challenge. Pepe credits himself as being a 'problem solver' when it comes to issues like we had. He is not only a problem solver but he is professional, personable, honest, and determined to complete what he started. After almost exhausting all possible options, he decided to search an area between our main house and the area where the electricity had failed to fully connect. He found a wire sticking out of our hillside that was invisible to me, dug a hole around it and found that the main wires had been eroded away and finally split in half. He repaired the wires which restored power and fixed our gate. Pepe pointed out many areas on our property that had electric boxes that were not water-tight or other areas that needed updating. I will definitely have him back to spend time to fix all of the other much needed repairs and upgrades to keep us safer for the future. I wish all repair technicians had Pepe's integrity and professionalism. I'd give him 10 stars!!

We needed a bathroom fan replaced so went to yelp and called 4 electricians. Left VM with 2, 1 answered however on vacation and the 4th answered And scheduled us in for the next day. What an excellent experience! He went right to work. Removed the old fan,and replaced it after modifying the drywall so it would fit. Quick, efficient, knowledgeable and all around fair and honest man. I highly recommend rick and will seek him out if we ever need any electrical work done in the future.

I had installed a switch and it was blowing a breaker. I couldn't figure it out. So, on a Sunday, I called Grover Electric. An hour later Ric called me. I explained to him about the switch. He then instructed me on what to do and how to do it. He solved my problem over the phone! I told him that I owed him. He said, just go on Yelp and put in a good word for me and we'll call it even. I called Grover this morning because all the outlets in my bedroom stopped working yesterday. I spoke to Rick who advised me to try a quick home fix. Unfortunately that did not work so he said he would make it work to send someone today. sure enough within 2 hours Pepe was at my door in all his glorious professionalism! He quickly diagnosed and then fixed the problem, as well as made some adjustments to some of the wiring in the outlets. I am so impressed with this company. Their level of customer service as well as their efficient work easily earn them 5 stars. I would now only call Grover for all my electrical needs.

I do most of my own home repair. I don't do my own electrical work. If I mess up on a Drywall job no one gets hurt. If I mess up on electrical people can die. Get someone that's skilled, licensed and insured. Ric and his guys know what they're doing. The prices are fair, you are paying for years of knowledge and skill. There are three things in construction that you have to be aware of, quality, time and price. One always effects the other. Ric keeps a close eye on all three for his customers. Using Ric for your electrical needs is a wise decision. Be Safe!

I am a property manager, when i try to schedule for upgrade GFI for one of my unit, the guy said it must paid COD - he was kind of rude but I told him no problem. I had to reschedule and call one day ahead he was rude to me again, but he did gave me an appointment for that day. When the guy came to look at the job, all he wants to do is talk but never gave me an estimate for the job. I told him I need to have the 3 prong be upgraded to GFI, and he told me just change it to 2 prong instead. I told him I talk to his boss already even his boss suggested that GFI is way to go. He never got back to me with an estimate for the job at all.... He just brag about how busy they are with calls from Danville and Blackhawk clients. My unit is in Concord, he was very critical about this building being built in 1970. I would not consider using this company because they are not motivated for small jobs??? And don't have a professional attitude. Poor service.

Ric is awesome! I wanted to buy a used hot tub and have him do the electrical connection. He came over to my house free of charge to check out where I wanted to put the tub, and where my electrical feed was. He told me what kind of hot tub to look for on Craigslist that would minimize the cost of the electrical connection. Once the tub arrived, he prioritized my job in such a way that I would have the tub up and running for house guests who were arriving later that evening. I will definitely use him again for electrical work and strongly recommend him!

I had some outlets and lights that were not working at my rental and I called Rick. After he came out to assess the problem, he clearly discussed a path forward so I understood what to expect - both in time and money. I was impressed with how thorough and fair he was. I had a similar issue in my home and called Rick. Again, he discussed what he would be doing and the expected costs up front. He fixed the issue both times within the minimum time. He will even try to talk you through a fix on the phone so he's definitely not out to gouge anyone. Very refreshing.

Reliable, fast, friendly, and knowledgeable. Lights on one circuit were flickering. Once I explained problem, Ric was able to troubleshoot and locate the issue quickly at the panel. Took the time to not only show specifically what the issue was, but explained options to fix the issue, why the problem likely occurred, and identified the most cost efficient way to address the issue safely. I've worked with many electricians in the past in several homes, and my father-in law himself is a retired electrician down south. Ric Grover is top notch. Highly recommend.

If you have some electrical work that needs to be done and you'd like it to be efficiently performed, reasonably priced and by a conscientious electrician, Ric at Grover Electric is the right choice. Really happy with his work. He installed some new canned lights, installed an outdoor plug and added some other lights and he did a great job for the price quoted. Does all the work himself as opposed to some other electricians. He's definitely on my speed dial.
