Roto-Rooter Plumbing, Drain & Water Cleanup

We had a Roter Rooter Plumber (Robert Q) come out to a rental property of ours for an assumed sewer line issue.  After running through the problem and performing troubleshooting techniques with the tenants, his diagnosis was that the toilet was the problem and that they possibly had something stuck in the toilet.  The tenant told Robert that he'd taken the toilet off twice and that there was nothing blocking flow. Robert stuck to his assessment and left.  Later he was contacted by us and told to snake the line.  He apologized for bot doing so in the first place and came back to the house.  I met him at the house this time.  He began to snake the drain and showed me that it wasn't clogged.  He then went over why he was convinced it was a toilet problem and I couldn't argue.  Long story short, after we pulled the toilet and went through multiple ways to try and snake it, even using a camera, he finally dislodged the obstruction. It was the bottom of a clear glass soda bottle.  You could imagine the difficulty of finding this and then dislodging. Brilliant display of customers always right. I would recommend Rotor Rooter (specifically Robert) to my friends for plumbing issues.  Thanks, Rob!

Stockton Roto rooter is great. The plumber that did the repair was very nice, thorough, friendly and explained things in detail. Fair price also. Came through in a pinch for my water leak in my basement

Had an issue with losing my keys down my drain... Talked to Evelyn several times and she went above and beyond the call of duty!!  She was able to help me...  Very professional staff!!  Highly recommend!!

I called in the morning around 7a because we were having issues with draining in our home. Spoke to
Claudia, she set me up right away, within 2 hours I got a text stating that my plumber was on his way. The text provided me a tracker for their ETA and notified that our plumber John was on his way to help us. He was professional, explained everything thoroughly, and honest. I would highly recommend Roto-Rooters. Right now with COVID, safety was their #1 priority and they were so careful thru the process.

No stars. Called them for plumbing emergency on Friday night. Total cost was $506.85. And they had trouble with equipment, had to call someone to help, etc. once work was done he told me that they cannot guarantee their work but would come out next day if problems. Next day we had same problems and called several times and it was several hours before call back. I was told no guarantee. Had to call different company for repairs - so I basically paid $500 for nothing.

Less than no stars. Clueless and incompetent. 3 times in 6 months and each time, the same old story....it's our fault....well folks...they didn't have enough experience to check the pump on the septic system....it needed a new pump motor. They charge bank robber fees and don't guarantee their work. Josh and Jim and the rest of the Roto Fraud unit will not be there for you except to bilk you out of your money. Go see George at Richards Plumbing. Outstanding and experienced. Do not patronize Roto Rooter...your toilet system will not be the only thing being rooted. See Sarah L article. ...same result.

If you read the dissertation, you will remember the refrigerator water/ice maker in the door not working and having them come back out, only to tell us it wasn't their problem and basically had nothing to do with them.  Well, I finally called a great plumbing company to come out and hook up the refrigerator water and ice.  When they couldn't hook it up I had to explain the previous plumbing job (sheet rock still not repaired due to my knowing something might be found to be wrong and would need to be opened up again).  Glad I didn't repair the sheetrock because it was found that Roto-Rooter didn't bother to FINISH the job in the first place.  They stopped at the washer and dryer in the laundry room and didn't continue the plumbing job to include up over the ceiling over to the wall behind the refrigerator and down the wall to the back of the refrigerator!  The new plumbing company I called finished the job Roto-Rooter did not complete and we now have water and ice!!!  It took them only a couple of hours and where they had to cut the sheet rock, they were very careful to do it in such a way that it is easy to repair and not butchered!  It cost us $1,900 for them to complete the job that Roto-Rooter refused to complete with their statement that it wasn't their problem!  The company that we called to fix and repair said Roto-Rooter should have completed the job and that they, the GOOD plumbers would never leave a job not completed.  DO NOT CALL THIS ROTO-ROOTER COMPANY!

Poor customer service. Terrible techs. It took them over 5 weeks to figure out what was wrong with my moms faucet in her kitchen sink. Every single time I called the office, I only got a recording. I asked for several call backs and I never received a call back and talk to the receptionist. They would send me texts instead. Like I said, very poor customer service
It took the 5th visit from their technicians to realize they needed to replace the faucet. Each visit was a week  apart.
I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THEM !!!

Jacob Messer was an awesome tech who got the job done efficiently and effectively. Roto-Rooter was (as another reviewer said) the only company who actually came out to do the job after calling several others. Very happy with my service.

Josh has been to our house three times and has impressed me every time. The guy is honest, trustworthy reliable and a hard worker! Guys like this give Roto-Rooter a good name. I would recommend him to anyone!

I absolutely can not say enough good about the two different men that came to my house last week ... First guy, James came as an emergency call ... He was professional and informative!!!  Did the job!!!

But as this is an older house and new to us we decided to check into the reasoning for the back up ... Especially with 50 people invited to my grandson's birthday the next weekend ... can you imagine?  Well Ken came ... he went under the house and did a thorough inspection ... then in plain simple English he explained exactly what he found and explained why it would / could cause problems in the future.  

I have to tell you that Ken kept me informed through out the process and SHOWED the pipes that were removed and yes they needed to be ... Ken was EXTREMELY clean and neat ... he protected my home as though it was his mothers or worse my mothers!  When he was done you could not tell that I had anyone there ... I guess I should mention that the access to the crawl space is in the front bedroom so he had to really crawl through the muck ... Not a speck of dirt left behind ... Can't say the same for the county inspector!

I definitely would recommend for any plumbing issues!!! Seriously CALL THEM!

Mauro is fantastic, had a clean out valve installed last year and his crew did a fantastic job on a very old home. Nonetheless, this morning the Drop T started to get clogged up and on a Labor Day, Mauro just happened to be on call and put together a plan for our drains cleared them out and with a smile. Is putting together a plan on how to approach  this from here. Old homes are sometimes a little more work then I'd like to handle. But it's very reassuring to know Roto Rooter hires gentlemen of Mauros character and integrity. Brings me peace of mind. Thanks again.

Arrived on time and was very helpful,  replacing my toilet,  after the job was done Reid  made sure that everything was clean and ready for use. Very happy with the job and price.

We called Roto Rooter out because our washing machine wasn't draining the water from it's wash cycle. We told them that from day one. Over the course of two weeks we had several different members of their team come out and do various work to try to fix it. They snaked our drains, scoped them, replaced pipes underneath our deck and our house, work totaling almost 5k and they told us the problem was fixed. Not even a week later we started having the same issue again. So we called them back out because their work has a year guarantee on it. Well they came back out, snaked the line behind the washing machine (which poked holes in the return u-bend which I am currently fixing) and they lied to our faces by telling us we never told them the washing machine was a problem. I will not be using them in the future and would caution folks against them. One star.

If I could give them zero Stars I would.  We called them yesterday at approximately 4 p.m. for service and they said that it would be between 5 and 7 p.m. they would be here. The guy was 45 minutes late. When he showed up he said he couldn't do anything and would be back in the morning between 7 and 8am. He was late again and didn't show up until 8:45 a.m. when he was here he snaked our drain and didn't even check it before he left. 20 minutes after he left it was backing up again. I called the service number again and the lady said that they would have to send another guy out and charge us an additional $175. We had just paid $175, 30 minutes before that. She was very rude. When the guy left he said there was a 30-day warranty and it had been 30 minutes. We also tried to call the manager twice today and the manager was supposed to be there but wasn't there or something. We have no running water or toilet. Thanks for the shady job.

Roto Rooter installed a lateral for us about 10 yrs. ago going into a new cottage so I rather instinctively called them when the drain seemed plugged.  Their fellow came, asked about the cleanout and on discovering it was just under some porch stairs didn't have the screw tips to remove a couple of planks.  So I ran to the house to give him tips and in a couple of minutes had removed the planking. The rubber union had cracked and we had a blockage from tree roots.  He then tried to roto them and claimed the blockage too great and said we'd have to have a crew in to expose and replace the pipe.  He stated he would have someone call me and that he would them come in to replace about 5' of pipe.   He was here for about 1-1/2 hrs. and handed me a bill for $400., accomplishing nothing.  
We never heard from him or his crew again.  I did notice his tool tip on the roto was very dull and suspect if he sharpened it it might have cleared the line.  
Anyway we discovered it's not the old Roto-rooter we once knew.  Over the past few years the franchise owner were bought out and it's now a big corporate entity with the greed that goes with that.  It was $400. down the drain---nothing accomplished.  I should have rejected paying the bill.  Try someone else.

Honestly, I would have thought because Roto Rooter is such a big name that they would do a less than complete job but boy was I wrong! I only called them because we had an emergency issue and they were the only ones open.  They did an amazing job for us, they were quick, competent, very informative, tried to save us money every way they could, and got the job done quickly. I am more than impressed with the two techs we had out, Jacob and Mauro.  I won't be calling anyone else.

Just had one of there service vans pass me on the freeway going over 83 miles an hour driving reckless that tells u the more reckless they drive the more reckless they will care bout ur home.DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

Brandon Filbert out of the Manteca office was the technician that came to my house today in Stockton to replace my garbage disposal.  He arrived on time and was really informative.  He explained the whole process of step by step.  I had no worry after that conversation.

After he completed the job (which was fast) he explained all of the warranties to me.  He was a really good technician and knows his job well.  If i need any more plumbing work completed i will definitely call roto rooter again and ask for Brandon.  Because i know i will get the correct answer and the job done correctly.  Thanks again Brandon for a job well done.  Keep up the excellent work.

Alex from the Stockton branch came to help and check out our bathtub drain.  He was very incredibly kind and helpful!  We are so grateful and appreciative!

I had two toilets installed by Abran Hernandez and would like to say he was very polite and professional I appreciate his excellent service and would like to thank him for coming out a second time just to check and adjust the flushing system on my toilets today they work great i will definetly use Roto Rooter again!!

This was my second time using roto-rooter on my new house to address issues with the old mainline pipe backing up. In addition to the great communication and notifications regarding appointment time/updates, Brandon was prompt, courteous, and professional. I was impressed with the extra effort he put in to communicate exactly what was going on in the lines and to talk through different ideas for short and long-term solutions, including marking out the layout of the lines for reference. The price seemed fair for the work done, and I would definitely recommend Brandon for work that needs a skilled plumber.

Thomas was really great, my parents were out of town and I was watching the house and needed to call a plumber when our sewer drain had a clog. There was miscommunication between my parents and I on what we wanted done and the price, and I was getting chewed out, Thomas completely understood and made it work in our budget. My dad is a lieutenant at SPD and Thomas thanked him for his service and risked a lot to discount the price for us. It was really great, couldn't have asked for a better guy. They better not give him any flak for this! He knew that customer service should always be the top priority in any situation. He made a stressful day a lot easier on all of us.

We were having issues with tree roots damaging our pipes.  Basically, when these guys were called, we were very specific about doing whatever it took to eliminate the back-up problems by replacing whatever pipes needed to be replaced to avoid future problems.  $2100 and 1 year later we were experiencing the same problems.... they didn't want to help nor offer an explanation.  But it seems like this is how this type of industry is structured.  Very few offer any guarantees..... I called some of their competitors and they are very slimy (no pun intended).... others would offer free estimates and they would have you wait for hours and hours for them to show up and then when they would show up, they tell you that there is a charge for estimates....apparently they will come over for free, but they won't do anything besides show up and try to upsell you.  

I actually told this guy who was more of a salesman than someone who was there to give us an honest quote that I know the sales games... I was in sales for many years.... He was one of those that tried the old tactic where he says Let me call my manager and see if there's anything we can do for you .... AS IF I'm special and should feel honored because they were going to give me a free estimate after I was promised one over the phone.  Gee, thanks.... I owe you so much for doing this just for me.... because I'm so special.

Anyway, I don't do business with those types and neither should anyone else.... In all fairness, it wasn't this company, but I had to rant about many in their industry.... maybe because a few do this, the others go along and do the same.  I don't know.  

Just be careful with all of these guys.  Have them sign that whatever work they will perform will eliminate ALL the surrounding problems for an extended period of time.... not 6 months like these guys.  Get it in writing.  For such a pricy job, you would expect better results.

We've been trying to get someone to come out and pump our septic tank since all the rainstorms hit California and flooded our tank. Roto Rooter was not the cheapest quote we got, but they were the only ones who showed up when they said they would, and they did a good job. I called at least 4 other companies, and none of them came through, so overall quite satisfied with Roto-Rooter.

Robert and Manuel came to my home and repaired my toilet tank because it kept draining water after flushing. They explained everything that needed to be done and gave me quotes.

Roto Rooter came out to clean the drains at my house, and did an exemplary job.  The technician worked efficiently and rapidly, and had the job done well within the one-hour minimum charge.   He was courteous and professional.  I am extremely satisfied with the service provided.

Very poor pricing tactic to extract the maximum $$ from a service call.  Started at $369 dropped and finally got to $250 to clear my main sewer line.  Est 1 hr work max.  Last time paid $200 (2015).  Sent them away after spending 15 minutes negotiating a reasonable rate that they finally agreed to. Not earning my business with this method.  Found a local shop to do this for $195.  Very accessible, easy job.  Lost my business Roto-Rooter.    C'est la vie

Quick response time and the techs were great. I'm giving Roto Rooter two stars because the first tech cleared the pipe ,but didn't diagnose why it was clogged. About a week later (today) I called and told them the toilet was clogged again. They said no worries we will have a technition come out free of charge because this is within the warranty period. I thought fantastic!! Well, two techs came out and within 15 minutes they clear the clog and state it's because of our cleanout, therefore we will
Have to charge you another $195 dollars. Ummmm??? If you would have told me that the first time I could have had the root of the problem fixed. Instead after the second $195 dollar service call (which I thought was going to be free) they thought they would tell me I have another issue. Of course when the company has to warranty the work free of charge of the customer it's now time to find the root of the problem So they can charge me a second time and not warranty the work. Then want to charge me again to actually fix the problem.

The technician came out and fixed the leak. It was a simple shower head leak for which the technician did not have the parts and charged me 1,200. The technician said he needed to replace shower valve because the newer Delta shower valve has replacement parts that are easy to find instead of Kholer brand.
The price was set at 500, then it jumped to 700 because he had to run out and find the part. Finally when the technician returned and informed me he could not find the part he then said he can only change the shower valve which will cost 1200.
I believe the roto rooter company took advantage of my misfortune and over charged me. Lesson learned do not call roto rooter. Roto rooter should do the right thing and refund some of the money to me.

High prices. Your paying for the name. Other plumbing companies do the same quality and emergency calls with same equipment with just as experienced plumbers.

We have had Roto-Rooter out on multiple occasions. John came out today and checked my hot water heater and faucets. He diagnosed the problem quickly and was very professional. He cleaned up after himself and did an great job all around.

Previous we've had James completely replace our sewage pipes. James was excellent. He knows his stuff. He was always available when we called with questions and did an wonderful job. He's very professional. And is willing to take the time to explain all options. It was a big two-day job and we've had no problems since.
