Renstrom installed a water line and gas line from my garage up to my roof deck. Chris responded to my request within a day and was at my house to scope the project. He came up with a solution that was several thousands of dollars less than what others quoted. His crew was very professional and did a great job with the installation and cleanup. Chris himself communicated with me by text the entire time.

Overcharged me for subpar work.  Had to call another plumber out a few weeks later to fix work they did.  Provided me a one line invoice and when i questioned the amount, said they had 3 men working on it (for a bathroom faucet drip) and they charge $180 per hour each!

I live in Sleepy Hollow and Chris at Renstrom Plumbing was extremely responsive, flexible and accommodating. John who came to fix my faucet was incredibly professional. He wore a mask and explained exactly what would be required to fix my faucet and why it needed to be fixed. Their price was extremely reasonable and I did have follow up work. Chris was again very responsive with a very fast turnaround time to have John return to my house.

The quality of their work is excellent, they are highly efficient, cost friendly and extremely responsive. What more could I want?!

My husband found Renstrom after we had flooding in the crawl space following the torrential rains past few weeks and the heating furnace stopped working after being submerged in water. Chris, who we spoke to on the phone was very empathetic and understanding. He asked the right questions and helped send the perfect team member for the job, with all the right equipment.

Special kudos to John Walton, who came to our place and resolved all the issues in a matter of a couple hours. He identified the issue (which was essentially a built in sump pump failure that caused the flooding and stopped the heater), shared detailed insights and information on what needs to be done to resolve, provided guidance on the different options and did a thorough job installing a replacement. Not only that, he looked at the heater furnace, when that wasn't a part of our original ask to Renstrom and got it back to working smoothly! John definitely saved us a lot of headache dealing with other hvac contractors as we weren't sure if the furnace was going to work after being submerged in water for a while.

We had an excellent experience with everyone at Renstrom and ended up taking annual maintenance service package!

We had some old vent pipes and a drainage pipe that were leaking. They gave us a quote, came, and did the work in 2 hours. They were very fast. Chris the owner was very responsive and came by himself. They cleaned it up great!
That afternoon my sink was not working. I called. Chris let me know they would come by at no charge and as long as the clog got fixed with a snake there would be no charge. They came by at no charge and tired to snake it. It was not snakable. Jon diagnosed the area and took out the pipe and it was flowing again. It was completely blocked with rust and corrosion. What had happened was some of the corrosion from the other job got stuck further down in some severe corrosion. Chris gave us a discount and only charged for an hour of labor. It was a good deal. He even answered questions from me and my neighbor since it was an HOA expense. This is the second job I used them for and I would use them again.

This interaction worked out perfectly. My initial interaction with Chris was direct and to the point (all through email). John came by to provide a quote (which was acceptable) and the water heater was installed the same day. No fuss, no muss. John did the primary work - he was professional; courteous; and patiently answered questions. His assistant (and I can't remember his name) worked hand-in-hand with John and they finished in no time at all. The water heater works and I've had zero issues with it.

We had a major plumbing failure in our 1900-built San Francisco home with the main sewage pipe being affected by tree roots and deterioration from age.  Renstrom plumbers did an excellent job both diagnosing the problem and repairing it. They were very responsible and helpful.

They also replaced our water heater and were able to install the new heater and fit it in a cramped space while adhering to code regulations - - something other plumbers were unable to do.

Mr Renstrom was also very responsive to our needs to write-up our sewer line repairs with the details that our insurance company required to provide appropriate coverage.

Renstrom is my go-to for plumbing repairs because they do great reliable work, show up on time, and are nice people too.  When Johnny came out at 8 am to finally replace my toilet (which means I'll see less of him) he was the best as always! How he quietly got a toilet out of my condo without waking the neighbors is beyond me. He had great advice,  pointed out potential problems and how to address them, and is just fun to talk to.  Definitely Renstrom!

As a general contractor scheduling and pricing with subcontractors can be difficult and ever changing; not with Chris Renstrom. He is a true professional who stand by his work, knows all the ins and outs of San Francisco, shows up when he says he will and his crew is fantastic. I would not work with any other plumber and could not recommend him more highly.  Honest pricing, always on schedule, I could go on, this is the guy.

I made an appointment on Tuesday for Renstrom Plumbing to come between 8-9am on Friday.They didn't arrive between 8-9am, and still hadn't arrived by 10am. I called at 10, but no one answered so I left a message. I had taken part of the morning off to meet them and had to take even longer off. After repeated attempts to call and leave messages, they still hadn't arrived or called me back by 12, or 2 or 5 or 7pm!! I ended up taking the entire day off from work and they NEVER ARRIVED THE ENTIRE DAY, AND NEVER CALLED ME BACK.  Don't waste you time!

I called Renstrom because my bathroom sink was totally stopped up to the point that it finally started pushing water up not only into itself but into the sink next to it. So, clearly the two bathroom sinks shared a pipe that was clogged. This sullen Renstrom plumber came out, ran the water for a few seconds and because it had not backed up yet, he said I needed a new stopper (on a sink that was a recent bathroom re-model) and I should write to the company. Nope- can't be since the stopper had not been in the sink for days. He insisted there was nothing wrong. I asked if snaking it would help. No, he groused you just need a new stopper. And, then I got charged almost 200 dollars for this useless visit. When I called Chris, who had seemed to be a very nice fellow, and told him the problem, he said that particular plumber was no longer with them. I told him to send me a refund. He hemmed and hawed and somehow made it contingent on telling him the exact time the plumber came to our house. I called him back with the exact date the check was cashed. He has never called back. Seemed to be a nice fellow, but nice fellows with any kind of ethicals behind them would not act this way. Well, I called a new and talented plumber who came out and let the sink run for maybe 2 minutes and found that there was a shared pipe that was clogged. He snaked it and all is fixed. I would stay away from this company for its lack of talent and values.

Highly not recommend.  The hot water in my apartment shower is not working.  My building manager said I might have problem with the mixing valve.  He referred 3 plumbers to me and I picked Renstrom cause Chris answered my phone.  I told him the problem and he said the charge will be around $260 plus parts.  He send someone over in next 2 days, came around 9am, removed the mixing valve, said he need to go buy the part, came back replaced it and somehow said my whole shower unit has failed.  Even damaged the new part ($160).  He forgot a tool and called another plumber to bring it over and help work on the job.  Conclusion: Charged me 4.5 hr work ($605 labor) plus $160 part (they damaged it), total $765 for NOTHING done, not able to fix anything!! At that time, the plumber said they charge $750 to change a new shower unit, but minus $200 if I have them come back and do the job.   I talked to Chris again and he quoted me $1150 (labor only)  not $550 his plumber told me.  I researched on Yelp and found another plumber, Aquastar. They came with 2 people and replaced a new unit (I bought the unit myself) for $600 in less than 3 hours. So I will not work with Renstrom again or refer them to any of friends. Not reliable and very expensive!!

Fantastic plumbing company!  Chris Renstrom responded immediately to my call to have an apparently very complicated leak located and diagnosed.  He pinpointed the problem immediately and provided me with a realistic timetable and estimate, outlining exactly what needed to be done (scope of work included replacing leaking old pipe behind the ceiling and an upholstered silk wall).  In addition, his men tackled other problems around the house that were outside of the project scope, and proved to be honest, efficient and competent.  There were no dirty smudges, footprints or any messes left behind and I felt comfortable having his crew in my home.  Renstrom Plumbing is my new go-to team for any plumbing issue.

Found Chris through Cole Hardware's referral.  He was just what was advertised -- a no-nonsense professional who knew his way around.  Our gas lines had some special requirements due to some prior PG&E work, and Chris' crew accommodated our needs without any hassles.

Got a recommendation to use Rengstrom from my contractor. We had 3 plumbers out to diagnose a problem and only these guys were able to identify it successfully. The work they did was professional, great communication, stayed on schedule. They informed me of other potential issues unrelated to the problem they were solving and educated me on how to fix those should they become a problem in the future.

After complaining about Renstrom Plumbing in this review last month, I wanted to update our service history with them as they stepped up and completed the job.  We are now completely satisfied even though the project took much longer than anticipated, and communications was not always the best.  To refresh, these guys had been working on a hot water shower problem for three-four months, resulting in the replacement of our hot water heater, shower cartridges and in-wall plumbing.  Everything now is working fine and we have hot water galore!

Very, very good experience. Responsive, experienced and solved a big problem. It took  some detective work to discover the problem in the labyrinth of external buried pipes, but toilets and showers are clear and major, muddy  back up in external drains is gone. Renstrom Plumbing is the first place I will call for any future problems.

Chris, Mark, Steve and Ray are simply the best!  What else can I say.  Always professional, always on time, service is always great.  They are problem solvers and they do it with a smile.   Don't waste your time calling anyone else.

This was by far the worst plumbing company I've ever used. The 10% off offer is not honored, so don't even bother. Chris bid one price, and his crew invoiced at a higher price. When I disputed, I was merely threatened to pay up. Worse, several plumbing aspects of the job were done incorrectly and the company attempted to charge me more to fix the incorrectly done items. I consulted with other plumbers and the city, who said this was a completely weaselly practice. Steer clear of Renstrom Plumbing.

From one business owner to another, if you say you will be there by a certain time, make sure you are there at that time so the problem can be fixed before a thousand people come and use what was supposed to be fixed rather than showing up 6 hours later and not being able to fix it...oh and still charging me full price.

Renstrom Plumbing was terrific.  We had a fairy complex job - new bathroom - The quote was fair, prompt and the work stared almost immediately.  I was very pleased with the work and thank Marc and Chris muchly for their work.

To be avoided.  Called them on a recommendation from Cole Hardware. Basically couldn't unclog my bathtub drain despite having the 'drain expert' on hand and went on to overcharge me as his equipment broke in the process.  Went on with all kinds of BS about how the wall the would have to be opened up to solve this one.  Call us back to arrange that and we'll take care of it for you. Yeah, thanks but you already took me for a ride. Total con artists.

I live in a 1903 SF house and needed to replace the tankless water heaters in both flats. I contacted Renstrom and contracted to have them install 2 state-of-fhe-art tankless water heaters. The  tiny spaces and the minefield of  peculiarities in the house seemed to me formidable. I was fortunate enough to have Steve and his sidekick Ray to do the job. Steve supervised the job, and both men worked non-stop with perfectionist attitudes and did a super job, despite the fact that anything that could go wrong because of the old house did go wrong. Steve and Ray were a pleasure to have around, and I felt their workmanship, their punctuality, their dedication to doing everything absolutely to the best of their superlative ability, and the all-around great job made my choice of Renstrom about the best decision I've made in a long time. Their prices are competetive, and I have nothing but praise for my experience with these folks.

Got referred to Renstrom through Cole Hardware (fantastic referral service, as well!).  Chris actually called me BEFORE I even had a chance to call him!  He sent Mark out within only a few hours of our initial phonecall, and even called several times to make sure that Mark had gotten there and that the work was done to my satisfaction.  Turns out that I had ordered the wrong part to replace my tub spout/shower diverter, but Mark luckily had the required spout in his truck, along with a new showerhead which he discovered needed replacement as well.  He was done in less than an hour (it would have been less than 30 minutes had I not sent him to his truck twice for parts!), was friendly, professional and explained everything he was doing and why.  I will certainly be using Renstrom in the future!!!!

I called Renstrom because they are in the same large networking group (BNI) and Chris sent someone out right away.  When the task was larger than anticipated, they sent a second person out who took care of our stopped up toilet.  They were not just professional, but friendly and helpful as well.  And....they have a 10% coupon on their website.  Will definitely use them again.
