Probalby a good electrician? But anyone who shows up for an estimate for a big electrification job wearing politically charged slogans on his sweatshirt, and asks why do you want to get rid of your gas appliances?,... and when told that Household gas appliances account for 47% of emissions from residential buildings. tells a decades long student of climate change and an active climate lobbiest that he's done his own research, and we haven't added anything to the world... pretty much fails the basic trust criteria for me.

After fixing the outlet he made sure everything was working and gave us some recommendations on our issues with our AC units affecting the circuits. We hired James to rewire several runs of aluminum branch wire that we discovered in our house. We chose James because he was very upfront about his pricing--we were able to use his pricing model to build an accurate quote based on exactly what we needed done. This honest and upfront approach was refreshing compared to our other quotes that were very vague about what exactly would and would not be covered.

His prices are very reasonable for running new lines, switching out receptacles, and adding/replacing light fixtures. We are thrilled with the results.

James was extremely efficient (done several days ahead of schedule!) and very precise. My husband is very picky about things lining up correctly, being level, etc. and James blew him away with his craftsmanship. In fact just had people come in to give us drywall quotes and they remarked on how clean and minor the drywall holes were compared to the average electrician or plumber.

After seeing his work we asked him to additionally redo the lighting in our garage and add new can lights to our living room and family room, all of which he was able to do while still finishing the job early.

One caveat that should be noted--if you are immunocompromised and concerned about COVID, be aware that James does not like to work with a mask on. I am very pregnant and my hospital will consider me a high-risk pregnancy if I get COVID and will make me jump through various extra medical hoops. Because of this, I generally tried to stay outside of the house and/or masked while James was working and this worked out fine--he was courteous about giving me plenty of space when I needed to pop in for whatever reason.

I always call James Moriset when I need any electrical work done. He has re-wired many parts of my 1940's home, replacing old cloth covered wires with new, ran an electrical line underground to tie into my panel, completely designed the electrical for 2 different bathroom renovations, hung ceiling fans, etc... No project too big or too small.
James is fast, always shows up when he says he will, and is fair on pricing by the hour.
I recommend Moriset and will work with him again.

So, I found this guy by the luck of a draw few years back. Did a full renovation remodel of our home and all brand new electrical, still everything is tip top shape. That was almost 7 years ago and still my go to guy for any electrical questions. Did another upgrade to an electrical dryer plug in, which we had gas before. Even called again about electric tankless water heater systems and his knowledge about that!
James is not only honest, but extremely experienced with knowledge of just about everything!! He's very professional, quick to responding and gets the job done to satisfaction. His pricing is very fair and extremely reasonable, he keeps up with codes and all up to date new electrical stuff plus then some.
When you're doing new construction or just replacing, upgrading... James is the guy you want to have on board wiring with you.
We still have more little projects coming up upgrading, so we'll still be calling him again!

we always use Moriset construction and electrical. First of all, he installed our ceiling fan which nobody else wanted to do. He was the only electrician willing to do it. He was our life saver! I've reviewed before about 5 years ago for past work. But this last year we had a bunch of recessed lighting put in and so need to add another.

We had about 12 recessed lights put in throughout our small condo that had terrible lighting. James works quickly and efficiently. We had lights up and running in about 2 days. He helped us determine the right positioning of the lights, fixed all the crappy work done by previous people AND even fixed a panel on a recently Reno'Ed bathroom that could have been better.

He also have a great recommendation for an expert dry wall repair person

Two stars because he seemed nice enough, but after a quick phone call Covid-19 precautions were discussed and James said he would NOT wear a mask. He said it was due to the nature of the work and also his glasses fogging.

Three issues here. I do know that the Ca state governor changed the law to instruct anyone interacting with the public, in a work setting to require mask usage. Secondly, masks for eyeglass wearers are able to be purchased, doctors with glasses use them. Thirdly, I believe this business owner should update his policies regarding Covid-19 to be transparent for the general public for risk assessment.

Stop looking for another electrician. You don't need to get additional quotes. You've found the one you need to hire right here.

We called James after reading Yelp reviews and every one of them is accurate. He was by far, the lowest quote that we got and he understood exactly what we needed and provided us with a time and price right away - he didn't even need to come by and for an onsite beforehand.

Our project: We want to add a 2nd fridge in our garage without blowing out the circuits that we already have. James installed the circuit in our garage and two outlets - about 8 feet apart. He gave us 3 options for the wiring - plastic conduit, metal, or behind the wall. We opted for the plastic conduit and it was really neatly done.

Added bonuses: He did the job in less time than we had originally allotted AND for less than we had originally discussed! And, the job was done perfectly!!!

I called Moriset Electric regarding our flickering lights and James was able to fit in the work in a few days. James arrived, promptly troubleshot the problem and suggested some upgrades/improvements but was not pushy. Summary: James is a great electrician but overcommitted on the work.

My wife and I had a list of electrical work around the house such as installing junction boxes and various sized can lights, as well as installing track lighting in the stairwell and fixtures on a high ceiling. After James came to do a site survey, he showed me his pricing list and we agreed to do the install as discussed.

The positive:
The work that was completed such as the can light installs and the junction box work was great, and he was able to cleverly assess and work around some of my condo's odd electrical set ups.

James was also a wealth of information on migrating my lighting to smart lighting.

I also liked that James presented a pricing menu that we could agree to prior to work start rather than charging hourly.

The negative:
Disclaimer first: James is a one man show and thus is somewhat limited in what he can do. My frustration was that after starting the install and removing all the fixtures, he said he wouldn't do the work in the living room and stairwell because of ladder height issues. This is definitely understandable, but this assessment could have been made either during the pre-work survey or before removing the fixtures. Now I have wires dangling from my ceiling through holes in the dry wall and am back to square one hunting for an electrician to do the highest priority work I sought an electrician for in the first place.

I wish he would have said, I can do this work but not that work. If that's acceptable, let's proceed. instead of finishing some jobs and leaving the others in disarray.

One of my electrical outlets blew out/stopped working over the weekend (the one I use while working from home, of course) and the circuit breaker kept flipping off, loud buzzing noise, etc. I am a single female and know nothing about electrical issues.

I found James' name and number on my Next-door app. He had high recommendations and I am all about the reviews! I called him in the morning. He answered immediately. And he graciously fit me in a couple hours later.

James answered when my husband called. He was able to schedule and appointment just a couple of days out. He showed up exactly when he said he would. It was a classic nightmare scenario. We'd just bought our new dream home. The inspection had picked up a couple small things, but overall said the electrical wiring was in great shape. Then we go on Yelp to hire an electrician to do what we think is a minor job. I still remember where I was standing when I hear his report is that our wiring is a mess, and that any minute our house could burn down! Only remedy seems to be a bill in the thousands of dollars!!! #@!@&*$ PANIC!

LUCKILY we got a couple second opinions, including James. My dad (who has built two houses from the ground up himself) met with each of them and as soon as James came by he called me at work to say this was our guy. James gave a thorough run down of everything that needed work, completely allied our fears about what was and WASN'T needed, and then quickly did the work for less than what the other guy was going to charge just to trouble shoot. Moreover, he emphatically recommended an option (which needed a gas guy, not an electrician) that would save us $2500+ that guy #1 had never mentioned. Very, very grateful we found him!

So James is the man. He ran wire for me for a ceiling fan, came back to install it and we discovered I drilled through the wire and shorted it out. So help opened the wall up for me and fixed the problem, even though it was my fault. He's a perfectionist which is a blessing in this day in age. His pricing is straight forward with no hidden extras, Highly recommend his services.

So in an update, to further reiterated how awesome James is, I was replacing my outlet plugs, and being the jackass I am crossed wires and changed the configuration of the wiring he had set up. So none of the switches were working properly. I called him and luckily he was able to stop by about 20mins later. Thinking I was in for a least a $100 bill, he fixed the problem for no charge. Pretty awesome dude!

We own a house built in 1949 in North Park and it needed a complete rewire. In fact if you have an older house with cloth covered knob and tube wiring you probably need a rewire too. Anyway James and his guys knocked it out in 4 days. This is an expensive and messy undertaking but everything went as expected and the cost was pretty much as promised. James really seems to love what he does, is honest and trustworthy and so far the quality of the work is solid. He will definitely be our go to guy for any electrical work we need going forward.

I've been working with James over the course of 2-3 months for a major kitchen renovation and an electrical overhaul inside my condo. Was quoted for two exterior lights to be installed. James came out and installed what was needed to only explain AFTER install that more work was done and added a significant amount to the final price. I understand things come up and costs change but that should be discussed with a customer prior to completion of work so the CUSTOMER can decide to move forward.

So to make a hundred bucks you lose out on the potential of referrals and more work. Not good business practices. I recommend Craig From Core Electric as the price he quotes is what you pay.

James did a fantastic job of installing an over-the-air TV antenna, hooking up four televisions to the antenna, and rewiring my internet connection !!! (Bye-Bye COX cable TV bill, which keeps going up for channels I almost never watch).

James also installed a larger, covered outlet outside for me. He did things the easy way, saving me time and money. His price was very fair. My daughter is happy that he suggested moving the router and modem out of her room and into the family room.

James installed an exhaust fan in the ceiling of my garage. Because the fan exits directly through the roof to the outside, James made sure he did not interfere with the seals on the roof around the fan. He was innovative with the installation, but made sure everything worked properly.

James communicates everything clearly, e.g., rates, estimated cost, schedule, and his experience. His charges are reasonable and you are paying for a licensed contractor. James is legit! After speaking with a few potential contractors on the phone, he was the one who completely understood and envisioned what I was talking about. I wanted some LED ceiling lights installed in my living room, and while he was up in the attic, I asked if he could run some Ethernet and antenna cable wire. Yes, yes, and yes! He came in with his team, did all the work in a day, and they left the house clean and in working order, just the way I wanted it. No...better. He was able to explain alternatives to what I was thinking. But since he got what I wanted to do, his ideas were even better! I totally plan on having him do my numerous other electrical projects.

The only thing is that he is so good, he is in high demand. It was definitely worth the 2-week wait for his availability. He wasn't the cheapest bid, but he did things RIGHT (he's a perfectionist), and that's what I want, after all.

Great experience: James Moriset came to our house to provide a free quote for updating the electrical and adding some new outlets/switches. He was very friendly, knowledgeable and more than happy to walk us through the process. He explained our options and gave advice on the best way to move forward. We appreciated how he took the time to educate us on the basics of each step of the process (vs. just telling us what needed to be done). His pricing structure is very transparent, so you'll have an accurate estimate of exactly what a project will cost going into it. He was knowledgeable, and even helped trouble shoot our faulty A/C unit (but recommended we hire a dedicated A/C tech). He was very kind to my 2-year old who was inquisitive while he worked. Master Craftsman! We used Moriset construction to remodel our kitchen and bathrooms and we could not have been more pleased with the quality of work and professionalism. The one-time James made a small mistake he fixed everything for free and we barely even noticed what happens because he caught it so quickly and handled it. There's nothing that they cannot do, we wanted a custom bar area patterned after something we saw at a popular restaurant and they were able to put it together and it looks even better than the restaurant.

I was referred to James by my realtor. I hired James to install electrical for my stove and microwave and a couple of switches. Being a home from the 60's, we found out quickly my whole electrical system was out dated and obsolete. After fixing what I'd initially wanted he then replaced my breaker box, installed a fan and recessed lighting in my living room. James was originally scheduled for two days but made time out of his busy schedule to complete additional request on the third day. On Sunday a delivery truck ripped the TW Cable off of my house and ruined the service mast (those poles that stick out of the roof). Called Moriset on Monday and they were able to get the job done less than 24 hours later. Fast, efficient, friendly, on-time and overall great customer service.

James is my go to guy for all things electric! With 25+ years of experience, you can really tell that he knows what he's talking about, and also honest, reliable, professional, and very efficient. A rare find these days!

On a few separate occasions, he helped work around my schedule and installed an electrical outlet for my hot tub, placed my washer and dryer on their own circuit, and located a shorted wire in the home which was continuously tripping one of my circuit breakers.

Our nearly 20 year old Hampton Bay ceiling fan (which wasn't cheap when we first purchased it) finally gave up the ghost and died on us...and on a HOT day no less. We noticed that the light still worked, the blades just wouldn't turn. Their technician came (on time) and quickly diagnosed the problem. Unfortunately the unit couldn't be fixed on-site because it required some parts that had to be ordered. In the meantime, we had some outlets that needed checking and he efficiently checked and replaced various wiring. We finally got the ceiling fan back and it's working perfectly! We are so happy and plan to call them whenever we have any electrical problems.

James from Moriset was simply amazing. He came on New Year's Eve with one hour's notice and completely re-wired our condo's circuit panel in six hours. He charged exactly half what other leading electricians quoted and explained how our building was grandfathered in and did not need some of the additional asthmatic updates others had insisted. James was excellent about educating us about the circuitry and voltage and showed us the faulty and pirated installations done during our condo's last renovation. We plan on using Moriset exclusively for all of our future electrical needs.

I highly recommend James to anyone needing work done at their home or apartment. Luckily, when we needed an electrician, I found his service through reviews here on Yelp.

From my first call for an appointment, James was helpful and direct. When he came to our home, he fairly quickly fixed a problem on one of our kitchen circuits that had been overlooked by previous workers and was a potential safety hazard. I recently had occasion to use James to do some extensive electrical work on a condominium I was needing to sell. The place was originally built with aluminum wiring and I did not want to mess with it, especially since I was selling it so wanted a professional to upgrade and replace all of the outlets and switches. I also needed a couple of electric heaters put in. A friend recommended an electrician he liked to I called him but, of course got voice mail and left a message. I never heard back - well that is not quite true, I did hear back about three weeks later.

Meanwhile I searched YELP and found James at Moriset Construction and Electric. To my amazement, he answered his phone! In that conversation he explained what would be involved and gave me an idea of pricing. Based on his great YELP reviews I went ahead and scheduled him for his first available day which was a couple of weeks out. On the appointed day, at the agreed to time HE SHOWED UP! How great is that. James worked quickly, efficiently and professionally and finished the job in a timely manner and at a price that I thought was pretty great. He would definitely be my first choice in any electrical work I needed done in the San Diego area.

I had used James for a project a few years ago and was extremely happy with his work. So, when I needed a dedicated 240 NEMA1450 ran from one end of my house to the other I called him. I of course had conversations/ quotes from 2 other Electricians as well. His was actually the lowest and his he spent time discussing (explaining) the process/needs for my home.

James was extremely knowledgeable and professional. His quote was spot on despite having to reconfigured my entire electrical panel.
He also assessed my potential need for updated wiring ( original cloth wires still run through most of my home) and fixed my landscaping light which I broke as he drove up.

I'm not easy to please or to trust and I hand down recommend James for your electrical needs.

The yelp rating doesn't lie for this guy. I've been having some problems in my condo for years with electrical overloads (specifically when using my microwave). I was told it would take a few hours (it did), I was told how it was going to be fixed (as it was), and the price was very reasonable (he probably could have charged me more and I wouldn't have blinked an eye). I'm coming back right here if I ever have any more problems with my electricity.

My daughter bought a condo and wanted a washer & dryer, it required a 220 volt circuit. Scheduled James, based on his knowledge of the San Diego area, to come out. However, the condo was sub metered at 30 amps and not enough for the needed circuit. This condo was built in 1968, the outlets and switches were original.(painted, cracked and old) He replaced them all and verified the polarity. Some were poorly connected and some were reversed. Also, this condo had 20 can lights in the ceiling and most of them had the 45w incandescent flood lights, I replaced them all with LED which reduced the load tremendously. James is an experienced electrician, dependable and was on time. We have since looked at going to a gas dryer which only requires a 110 outlet. I will call James again if I need electrical work.

I highly, highly recommend James for electrical work and he will now be the only person we call for jobs from here on out. In our kitchen he installed a new outlet so we can install a microwave/vent combo for our kitchen remodel and he also removed our ancient fluorescent lighting and installed 2 junction boxes for our new light bars. James was incredibly courteous, friendly and informative. He charged us only for the hours he worked on the projects and for the pieces he purchased at Home Depot, at cost, not any higher. James did two rounds of work for us. The first time was to address the electrical issues in the house resulting from a home inspection. He was able to troubleshoot issues with lighting and a dead outlet that we had for 25 years, and was the first person to actually solve the issues. So if you'v had electrical issues that no one can figure out, James is your guy. He added a bus bar to a subpanel. He was able to replace outlets, and clean up our electrical panel. He ran 220 wiring for a new heater through our attic and installed a new subpanel. The second time, he came back and ran 220 V line from the subpanel and put in new breakers and installed 4 baseboard heaters plus 3 wall thermostats, and his finished product is a work of art. The conduits he installed on the wood siding outside of the house are very discreet, you won't be able to see them once we paint them. The heaters and thermostats were placed perfectly and run great. When we originally got in touch with James to do the work, he followed up in a timely manner, and his bids were in the ball park of the actual end billing. He left the place clean and gave us tips on how to repair the dry wall. If I could think of more work for him, I'd have him back in a heart beat. Thanks James! Tina and Doug

I love finding good businesses! I found James on Yelp - I was specifically looking for someone to install recessed lighting in our 100 year old home. Since other reviewers had indicated that James worked on their older homes, I knew he'd have no issues with weird/old wiring. James was prompt in responding to my email, gave me a quick quote, and we set up a time for him to do the work. He came to our house right on time (MUCH appreciated!), and handled the job professionally. James did such a great job with our home that we called him again to install a ceiling fan.

Called James and asked if he could install a Manual fire alarm but he said he doesn't do that type of work. Which is fine but he was super helpful! He told me where to look for one. I had power go out in a portion of my North Park house. I found James on Yelp and called him based on his great reviews. When he came over he was immediately able to find the source of the problem in my breaker panel and fix it. What I enjoyed most though was the way James was able to talk to me like a long time friend and explain exactly what was happening and how to fix it. Our 1921 craftsman had a ton of original knob-and-tube wiring left, and I was concerned about the safety of the house, which is otherwise in great shape. James responded to my email about a quote immediately (all his communication is extremely timely) and showed up promptly with a clean and conscientious crew on the appointed day.

He rewired all our existing outlets (and added a bunch of new ones), installed J-boxes and new ceiling fans in two bedrooms and an office, rearranged our service panel to be more efficient (in terms of layout and future expansion), fixed closet lighting, and installed new motion lights in the back and side yards.

All done with a minimum of demo (tough with a rewire job), lots of cleanup, and great after-the-job followup and punchlist completion.

Absolutely zero complaints, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend James & Co to anyone else with electrical (and pretty much any other GC) problems.

As the other reviewers have stated, James is the real deal. He's been in the business for over 20 years and his electrical expertise is matched only by his electric level of drive! He's a fast paced guy who's understanding, engaging, and super pet friendly (my cat even liked him)! His main focus seems to be residential customers but I understand that he does larger jobs as well. For me, I had him install a 240v circuit for my new air conditioning split unit. He did that and more when he noticed a slight problem with my electrical panel. His motto is perfection and he pulls it off. That being said, he's basically a one man operation so don't try to call him at the last moment! He is very responsive to his phone and communicates clearly at all times. Couldn't be happier with the experience. So hard to find tradesmen like him these days.

If you have any electrical needs, please reach out to them! I had the pleasure of working with James on my electrical project, which included adding power near the fireplace, cable lines, phone line, grounding rod, etc. It was a lot of little projects which would have been annoying to do one at a time, so it was great to have him come and do this. I was moving into a new place which did not have the proper electrical set up or cable outlets, so I needed them installed asap, prior to moving in and James was able to work with his schedule to do this project before my movers and cable was set up.

James is very personable and knowledgeable. He answered all my questions and provided with me a lot of useful information as well. His prices are also reasonable, as I did do a couple of other estimates on the work. James came out to the property to check out my set up and was able to get me an estimate quickly. A couple of the other folks that I called didn't even come out and took 3-4 days to give me an estimate. For all my electrical needs, I will definitely be reaching out to them!

My husband and I needed some miscellaneous work done on our craftsman style house in North Park (built in the 1920s), so I set out looking for a local handyman who could help us get these projects started. We searched Yelp and found James. I called and scheduled a walk through for that day!

Here was our miscellaneous work order:
-New thresholds and overall seal for front door (non-standard size)
-New thresholds and overall seal for back door
-New transition wood pieces from kitchen to wood floor areas
-New enclosure for our water heater and removal of old stucco enclosure that was leaning and rotted
-New outdoor water spigot
-New crawl space cover with mesh (to keep the critters our of our crawl space)
-Relocated sprinkler valves away from the house foundation
-Install new fascia board around the perimeter of the house in preparation for gutter installation
-Fix a sagging corner of our roof

James did it all and with great attention to detail - we're glad that we found him and that he was available. He presented great solutions, was incredibly knowledgeable about material pricing and was very familiar with the challenges that tend to pop up for these types of house projects.

Soon after James finished, it rained and we noticed that our back door was sticking. We let James know, and he came out and fixed it within a week.

In addition, James is Google-saavy, so we ended up drafting the scope of work and quote packages through Google Drive making it easier for both of us to track changes or make updates. This is just one of the ways James makes it easy to communicate throughout the process. Not to mention he's friendly and a good guy.

TLDR: James Moriset is an outstanding handyman--he's prompt, communicative, and very attentive to detail (he even thinks of the small things you need to really finish the job right). We've already asked him back for our next phase of projects.

James saved the day when Ceva Services who are the 'preferred' installation provider for Home Depot couldn't do their job. After 3 visits from Ceva and multiple phone conversations about why they couldn't compete their assigned tasks - and were belligerent and walked away from the job taking necessary parts for the installations from our purchased appliances - James came and had the necessary work done in 2.5 hours. James will always give you his best opinion and help. He's down to earth, and knows his job better than most contractors. He's also reasonably priced!

I don't know this guy, never heard of him, went to Yelp cause I needed some electrical stuff around the house fixed, saw his reviews, right from the beginning it was easy, fast, awesome. You know how when you talk to some people and you can tell right away that they get it, or they don't? Well James get's it. Super easy to talk to. Just explain what you want done and off he goes. If he finds other stuff along the way, like he did on my house built in 1927, he can clearly (in laymans terms) explain what it is and what's involved in fixing it. There were even a few minor things that he just knocked out, taking a few minutes, barely even a charge. Killer, Awesome, Fantastic. I liked him so much that I've already scheduled another appointment for hm to do some more things around the house I've been wanting to get done, dimmer swithes, outlets not working, etc...

Any electrical needs, Moriset is who you want. Fast, friendly, reliable and most importantly knowledgeable.

Absolutely would recommend James to everyone. He installed two ceiling fans for me and did an amazing job and didn't make any holes in my walls in order to run the electrical to the switch he installed. Please know though he had attic access which helped make this possible. If you need any electrical work done, especially fan installations, give him a call. You will not regret it and his pricing is very competitive as I did look at a few options.

I was stuck in a difficult situation during an escrow to purchase our family's first home. We had some electrical issues that needed sorting out before we could close escrow. I called 3 or 4 companies and explained what the issues where and was told that they either couldn't help me or that it would cost lots of $$$.

Thankfully I reached James who was able to quickly asses what needed to be done and agreed to rearrange his schedule to come to the house ASAP and determine the scope of the work. We had a very tight timeline to get things done and he was very attentive to that.

He was knowledgeable about the work needed, schooled me on why the issues existed, how to fix them and what his recommendation was. He fixed it that day at a very reasonable cost. He actually made multiple trips to fix other things that came up (unrelated to the first items) and even gave a follow up phone call to make sure everything worked out.

As a result, we were able to close on our new house and I have, in part, James to thank for that. I will definitely use his services again and would recommend him to anyone looking for quick and knowledgeable contracting at a good value.

I was nervous like I'm sure most of you are when picking a contractor to work on your home, but from my first conversation with James I was relieved and by the time he finished replacing the first light fixture I was thrilled to have found him. Not only did the work come out looking flawless, but James is friendly, smart and cleans up after he works. Thankful to now have an electrician I trust and doesn't charge outrageously for his experience and professionalism.

James Moriset has worked on our old house in the past, so he was the logical choice for working on our 4 jobs that turned into 5 last week He set the appointment within a few days of my call and arrived on time (or a few minutes early). He is a top-notch trouble-shooter and found the issues with our electrical systems (two overhead lights, a really stuck and non-functional outdoor light, and a non-working doorbell, and got them all taken care of in record time (under 3 hours). When we had one replacement light that was missing parts, he talked with the salesperson at the lighting store and then helped me find what was going to work when I went to another store to find a better fixture. James even kept in touch by phone as I found the best replacement fixture. His work was clean and efficient and I would not hesitate to have him back for another pile of projects. and I would recommend him to you, too!*

Hot temper guy. Can't get the job done right. Look at his reviews, yelpers who have no friends in their friend list. Seems suspicious. Are they his friends? I'd think twice before hiring him as cheap as he is maybe you could get him to do the job for free. I had to pay for my own paint. Please do the right thing and give me my money back.

James has been our go-to electrician for years for smaller jobs, but after moving into a 1920s Spanish home he became a total life saver! He discovered knob and tube wiring and a host of other electrical issues throughout the house and worked incredibly hard over a number of days to make our home safe - all without tearing down walls - a big request of ours. He did an awesome job and you can tell he takes pride in and loves his work. He is an expert electrician, honest and trustworthy, and has fair prices. We were really lucky to have found him and would never hire another electrician. He's exactly what you would want in a contractor.

In a drought, a sprinkle system can be efficient if it is functioning correctly, my wasn't functioning at all and I was in danger of losing all my landscaping. After I found that the electrical component was the issue, I contacted the local electrician to come to my aid. After a brief phone conversation, I texted a picture of the electrical component so we didn't lose time. He was familiar with this unit and had one in stock. Arrived at the house, pulled the offending component, replaced , and I was back in business. Did not lose a single plant!

I had a short in my electrical system, causing the lights in my bedroom to flicker and occasionally go out completely. James was quick to respond to my phone call, and came out immediately to assess the situation. He replaced the loose circuit breaker to the room, and when that failed to fix the problem, he came out again and tested every outlet and switch. It turned out that the short (which I had thought was only affecting one room) was actually due to a faulty circuit breaker in the main breaker box, and was affecting half of my house. I was impressed with James' perseverance in chasing down and finding the short.

My impression of James is: knowledgable and professional, with excellent customer service.

James came to me and my mothers home on a moments noticed and gave us a walk through quick sweet and to the point.
He knows what he is doing and has been doing this for a long time.
We had to have our whole home rewired new boxes, switches etc. He has helpers who are just as nice as could be and they finished the project in three days. ... very impressive!
James is very fair and reasonable and willing to help!
Workers cleaned up and left everything like it was but with electricity!
Thank you James and ur crew just outstanding. .. you've made me and my mom very happy and blessed that we were able to have you come aboard with the team in remodeling our home.
When we need more work to do. . You are guy to call and to recommend to any and all we run into needing your help.

Honest professional, trustworthy and extremely knowledgable. Found James on Yelp reading other reviews. We needed light sockets and switches moved and reinstalled under our kitchen cabinets. James was honest, and basically talked himself out of a high paying job. We decided to save the money and on his recommendation, install nicer light switches and sockets. He also rewired a 40 AMP circuit for our new oven. If you're looking for a fair, experienced electrician, James is the guy.

James was able to schedule us fairly quickly, we had some outlets that we wanted replaced and an out-of-service alarm disconnected, but have some ongoing projects that we wanted to consider him for in the future, like ceiling fan replacement and new circuits and outlets in the garage. James made time to come in the morning, traffic had him there later than he would have liked but we were happy to have him there then (traffic on the 805 in our area is very tight at that time of day). He did the work quickly and efficiently and educated us as he did it. Discussed the future projects and feel very comfortable having him do the work. The house is a family home that has been neglected for some time that we are restoring to it's former state, and are very happy to have James do the work. His prices are very reasonable and he works quickly and efficiently. James is definitely our go-to guy for electrical work and I'd recommend him to family and friends in a second. Nice guy that does good work.

James came out to our house because I thought I had discovered a wiring issue. After taking a look, he confirmed that everything was wired correctly. He could have performed the work and I would have paid him, but he was honest and didn't charge me a dime. He even took the time to explain why everything was okay and how the circuit worked.

James was able to help fix a major mishap caused by a separate construction crew. He came on short notice and resolved a very complex issue involving the city of SD, SDG&E emergency crews and the contractor that caused the initial damage. His technical skills are a 10/10 but it was his organizational and communication skills that impressed me the most. I'll be turning to him as my first choice for any project going forward.

So glad I found James on Yelp! He is awesome - texted me to confirm he was coming the morning of our appointment and he was very punctual. He is knowledgable, answered any question I had for him and has a great attitude. Very easy to talk to and pleasant demeanor. I have an older home and he explained what he would be doing in detail, which involved cutting a section of my wall out because the area he was installing outlets had a concrete wall. He was very neat about it and cleaned everything up. His pricing is also very fair. I hired him to replace a ceiling fan motor and conceal some television cables and ended having my condominium evolve into an updated, energy efficient and color of light conscious abode. As with everything in life, you get what you pay for and he is isn't cheap, nor would I hire a contractor who was, but he is a true professional who wants his clients to have the best lighting experience. Contacted James at Moriset for installation of an outdoor electrical outlet and one indoor receptacle to accommodate a wall mount TV. When reviewing my electrical panel, James pointed out a couple of concerns with the age/type of panel, as well as some of the work done previously by other contractors/homeowners...all were consistent with comments from the home inspector when I bought the house in 2014. He was very knowledgeable and made the additional repairs that could be done at the time to increase safety and support additional outlets, as well as explained the process for a panel upgrade when I'm ready. The additional work took about a half day to complete, but he did no gouge me on price...all the work was completed same day and the cost was very fair. Would recommend!

It's easy to feel like there isn't any customer service anymore until you meet owner James Moriset. The first time he came over he was limping so badly I thought he was going to topple over -- his knee was in a lot of pain (I forget what for) but he said, I told you I would come and I wanted to make sure you were taken care of.

Who does that anymore?! It was a little while before I finally had him over for the project but in the interim he was perfectly willing to let me text him and ask him questions and for advice regarding the upcoming project. He also had referrals handy for things that weren't his specialty.

So he finally showed up and while he worked hard and stayed until the job was complete, we found that our plan for a new tV/stereo system set up wasn't as user-friendly as the old one I had -- IT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH HIM. I just have set up I believe the old guy I used locked me into. James felt so bad so he kindly put it back the way it was and DIDN'T CHARGE ME A DIME!

Awesome guy, hire him, he really is good and you'll feel comfortable having him in your home.

Wow,quick,fast and great price. James came out today when I was I a bind. Being a small family owned and operated company. I look for someone to answer the phone first. A voice. James did that and he came out within 30 mins.I called over 10 electricians who advertise 45-60 mins response time but not one was available until the next day. James came out diagnosed and fixed problem within a hour to hour fifteen minutes and even found time to show me how to use a voltage meter . So glad I was able to connect with James! I have had him do a lot of work at my new house in San Diego on 3 different occasions now and the results have been excellent every time! He is the real deal...if you need awesome electrical work done with really great prices then you need to get James on the job! Our house was built in the late 50's so there are a number of upgrades needed. Having been through major remodelling in my last home, I have a lot of experience with contractors. I did my homework once again for San Diego and when it comes to electrical- James is the only one I call. While at times he can be booked out a week or so...he is worth the wait. I just make sure to call early to get on his schedule. So far he has done can lights, a ceiling fan, outdoor plug, 1 new line drop with 2 circuits, new circuits for the garage, rewired our AC unit properly, cleaned up my service panel, numerous plugs and switches... the list goes on and on. He always has a great attitude, adamant about doing things right, awesome problem solver, honest, fair and all around great guy! I have more projects and will continue to use James!

I called James about replacing an electrical panel that was quite old. I got several estimates that seemed a little pricey. When I called James and told him the situation, he quoted me almost half the price of other companies. He spent a couple minutes telling me what the job entailed. He got to my house promptly and the job was done in less than half a day. Very professional work. I'm glad I checked yelp because it was the most efficient job I have ever seen.

Found this company on Yelp and called them based on the reviews. I highly recommend the company and the owner, James. He is very professional and really knows electrical issues and their solutions. We had some issues with lights on our patio that were leaking rusty water below the fixtures. He came out right on time and diagnosed the problem, which was water leaking from the patio roof. The project turned out to be a larger issue with some carpentry construction work needed. James put us in touch with a great contractor who will fix things up for us. James will be back to finish up some re-routing of electricity after they are done. I am so relieved to find a talented electrician! You can tell from the first handshake that he is honest, really likes to help his customers and is very knowledgeable about his line of work. Highly, highly recommended!

James came out to give us a new electrical box and build a deck. He was super professional and did both in a fraction of the time we thought it would take. The new deck is amazing. 2 weeks later we lost power in the kitchen. We called him because we weren't sure what the issue was. He came out and found the kitchen was wired incorrectly 20 years ago and fixed it free of charge. He knows his stuff and treats you fairly.

I can't thank James enough for the electrical work he did for us! We are in the process of getting a new kitchen and our time is limited. I needed our 3 old fluorescent lights removed and to install 2 junction boxes along with an outlet for our new microwave/vent combo. He was very quick to get back to me and was able to work around our schedule. He showed up on time, was courteous, very respectful of our home and completed the project neatly and quickly. It took all of 3 hours and he was done and cleaned up all the mess. It's safe to say we have a new electrician that I trust! When it came to the bill he went above and beyond to give us the best deal. We were only charged for the 3 hours at his rate plus the materials he purchases from Home Depot with zero markup. James, the owner of this fine company, is a guy that knows a lot about a lot of things. In fact, I'm fairly certain if I asked he could tune my piano for me or give my car a darn good tuneup. But more importantly, he knows a lot about construction which is essential for a general contractor. His philosophy, which extends to all the guys that work for him, is that they all know something about all aspects of construction....from framing, to electrical, to plumbing and so on. In our case, James and his crew did a complete re-wire of a 1915 Craftsman style cottage and a back unit that entailed removing all the old knob and tube wiring and replacing it with current code electrical. His bid turned out to be about 10% less than an electrician that I had been using for quite a while. He charges based on how many nodes (switches/plugs) that need to be replaced and a discount is applied when the number reaches 50 or more. I highly recommend this company...they showed up on time, finished the work on budget, and the result was to a very high standard. Lastly, you'll enjoy working with James. He was happy to take as much time as necessary to fully explain our project. I had him back a week after the electrical work was done for a small plumbing fix and that turned out perfectly as well.

He is about as good as it gets for electrical work (plus other small household jobs). I just moved into an old 1930's home with old original knob and tube wiring I could not even get insured. He did a major week long complete re-wiring project, plus adding additional light fixtures. Such a pleasant person to work with and even fun to discuss scientific principals of electricity. His pricing is quite fair and lower than other estimates I had. It works on a fixed per outlet pricing so when unexpected kinks happen and delayed things I was not hit with any increase in bill, which is very reassuring in such a large electrical job. I was so happy with his work I have already had him out with a smaller project as well.

I wanted an extra circuit installed on the wall above my fireplace for my TV and I called Moriset Electric after looking up their good reviews on Yelp. I'm very happy with the service! From the first call to make an appointment to having the job completed, I couldn't have been a more satisfied customer with James. We have an older home in the South Bay that needed some electrical issues resolved in the kitchen as well as having a light fixture removed and installed in the dining room. Even though James had some scheduling problems, he still managed to come out on time and finished the task in an hour. He discovered that we did have some dangerous fire hazards as far as the kitchen area goes and showed us proof of how bad our wires had been fried.He also recommended a thorough inspection of all the wiring through out the house, but did not try to hard sell us. His flexibility, reliability and competence is second to none and as i told him upon his departure, I will have absolutely no hesitation in referring families and friends to use his services. I will definitely be calling him soon to address our electrical issues and I know I will be confident in the work that will be completed.
