Javier came out to give me an estimate for a new electrical panel. He explained everything in detail. He was pleasant, personable and knowledgeable about his craft.
I think I am a better educated consumer as a result of my interaction with Javier.
I am looking forward to Point Loma Electric and Plumbing to upgrade my outdated electrical panel. Another evaluation to follow.
Just a rip off. I contacted them to come fix my electrical panel which was missing a part. The technician came on Friday and said he was going to look for the part and come back fix it later. He said I am 99% sure I can get the part by Monday. He charged me $385 as down payment and as payment for his time to go look for the part and get it. Then, of course, I never heard from him again. He essentially ripped me off. I am, of course, to be blamed for being naive, falling for such an obvious scam. But he was charming, a good salesman and successfully tricked me. I come from where people still have integrity. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for these guys.
I contacted Point Loma electric to give me a quote for hot tub electrical setup. It has been more than weeks since they came out to look over the site and I have not gotten a quote. I have contacted them three times to get the quote as well as calling to ensure a technician was coming after I scheduled online. The customer service is non existent and I can't rate the work since I cannot select them to do it. I gave two stars for the very informative electrician that came out. He was able to answer all my questions and gave me good advice on my setup.
Point Loma did a fantastic job upgrading my electrical panel. Job was done in one day. The guys worked hard and I'm very happy with the result!

Frankie & Ramon did an exceptional job in helping us rewire all of our home's dozens of switches to smart switches.
Due to our homes existing wiring and an assortment of 3 way outlets, it proved much more challenging than we had expected.
We are very grateful for their expert electrical knowledge and making sure everything was in order and tidy on their departure.
They are great to work with and very accommodating with schedules and put extra effort into making sure everything was perfect. They even helped replace a transformer on a lamp that blew during installation.

I WAS IN SHOCK!!!
I had a relatively small electrical job requiring the installation of two new sconces and the replacement of two existing ones, replacing an existing wall dimmer and mounting a separate wireless dimmer on a wall. Using wiremold, the ENTIRE in-wall wiring would total about 12 and right above existing dimmer switch! My common sense estimate was that it would probably take two or three hours.
The good - Point Loma Electric was very responsive and the man who arrived to give me the estimate was professional. Because I didn't use them, I have no way of knowing the quality of their work.
The bad is inexcusable- I was then handed an estimate for the job of slightly over $2500! I questioned the technician about such an outrageous quote and he told me unexpected surprises could occur. I challenged him to come up with one even slightly reasonable example of that on my job. He could not. He also stated that they were not the cheapest in town. Quite the understatement!
I then proceeded to request estimates from other electricians. Each one ranged from about $500 to $700. I priced out all the parts on Amazon and purchased them all for slightly under $100. I then proceeded to hire an electrician. I supplied the parts and he quoted $500 for labor. In slightly less than three hours, the job was completed perfectly and professionally. To me, there is no ethical way to charge $2500 for a job that virtually all competitors quoted 80% less! Buyer beware and definitely shop around. I've attached the estimate to this review.
Your search has ended for your plumbing and electrical needs. I believe in giving credit where it's due. Mikel & Megan and pretty much the entire staff here is more than trustworthy and dependable. We purchased are tankless water heater two years ago and it started to leak . They didn't just repair the water heater they replaced it ! Not only that they repaired the water damages from potential mold and mildew and followed up with us every step of the way. We were so impressed with the professionalism they displayed we hired them to install our electrical components for our sauna. We are 110% satisfied with their above average customer service. I can't say enough great things about their business practices they made us whole with no unnecessary out of packet expense. They treated us better than FAMILY!

I called & Javier was at the house that afternoon, gave me an estimate & Juan came the next morning & did the work in a few hours. I've used Point Loma in the past & would not hesitate to call them in the future. Very dependable & they listen.

Our water heater was not working. It turned out the pilot light was out due to a recent Power outage. The technician was able to get the pilot light on again within minutes. He said he didn't need to do anything else and wanted to charge us $75 as a maintenance call. However the owner insisted charging the full $150 as a service call and wouldn't budge. Even the technician tried to get him to reduce the price since he spent less than 5 minutes at our place. I will never call Point Loma Electric again.

I'll start with the good. The workmanship for Point Loma Electric was amazing. They communicated well with me at the job site and provided an insight with why they were doing what they were doing. General business communication was great at first, but tappered off. The employees seemed very happy and knowledgeable. Thoughtfullness to my specific job site was good.
The bad: the final cost ballooned an extra 9000 for a whole home rewire after the established days were not enough. Twice the time line had to be extended. Things that were discussed in the beginning like moving receptacles or keeping them where they were was not followed through on. Backyard lighting was forgotten on the rewire. A trash bag was left in the garage and the floor there was left dirty.
At the end, they were more than willing to see what they could do for a 5 star rating including a rebate or some extra work which was nice. But given the price increase and forgetting some of the work makes it seem 3 stars is fair.

As a dissatisfied customer, I posted my thoughts and advised buyer beware with Yelp and BBB in Dec/22.
I never imagined I would receive a call 3-days later from the CEO asking me to share my experience. The company prides themselves in delivering white glove service, and he wanted to know personally, how he could help. Customer service at its finest, and it isn't dead. The work was provided complementary, and the technicians took time to explain everything they did.
They have my future business because they cared enough to make a wrong right.

I called to get an estimate to convert a small house which has a gas water heater and a gas range to electric. I explained I think fairly clearly that this was not a repair but a conversion from gas to electric and was told that i needed to give them my credit card number so that they could keep that on file and the callout fee was going to be $250. I suggested that this seemed pretty steep just to come out and do an estimate and was told it was so that if the repair was small and could be done right away this would cover it. When I clarified that this wasn't going to be a small repair and a callout fee of $250 seemed excessive the lady I was speaking too hung up on me.
At the end of October 2022 I had an emergency sub panel situation. I am a Senior. Point Loma did the installation. I turned my heater on and it is not on a circuit by itself and does not work. I am waiting for a correction.
In addition they charged me 600.00 for my permit fee!!! Outrageous!
The fellow that did a follow up said he would check my heater for an additional 600.00. This price gouging is not ok.

I had to replace 2 sets of faucets for a home that I was selling and these guys were able to fit me in right away. Other plumbers were not accommodating at all. They showed up on time and did a great job. The faucets were installed a long time ago and need some extra elbow grease to remove. Everything looks great now and I would definitely use their services again should the need arise.
Wanted to revise my review of Point Loma Electric after being contacted by the company. They were very concerned and expressed that this service quality was atypical. Because of their sincere commitment to address the problems with the technician and the missed diagnosis and their generous agreement to cover the total costs of the repair that we paid another company, I believe that Pt. Loma deserves a better review rating. Although not perfect, their ownership of the issues we had was impressive and greatly appreciated.
Scheduled visit was next business day. Communicated in advance when they would arrive. Provide quote before doing work. Very courteous on work arera and cleaned up after. Highly recommend.

Curtis Gordon came out and was a fabulous worker.
He was competent and very thorough in his assessment of what needed repair & replacement. He made the entire process smooth and we felt very confident with his work. He communicated throughout the entire job and made sure it was done to our satisfaction!

Point Loma Electric and Plumbing has definitely earned 5 stars from me! They upgraded the main electrical panel, ran new wiring for a hot tub, and ran new electrical lines and receptacles for a major outdoor renovation at my home. Each time they came, they communicated clearly about expected arrival times, scope of work, cost estimate, and any updates during the work itself. The workmanship is neat and elegant with no unsightly wires or excess conduit, and they even relocated some wiring in anticipation of an upcoming garage upgrade project that they quoted, as well. They also sent the right number of employees to complete each job efficiently and within a reasonable timeframe.
Special shout-out to Aaron Cortez for his outstanding and professional work, both in his workmanship and in his demeanor. He is so easy to work with, and he was flexible enough to communicate with me and with my contractor throughout the process. I can't wait to have him return for my next project. Also, Harley is always available in the office to answer my questions and to coordinate the work (including pulling city permits and scheduling with SDG&E!).
I did not choose the lowest-price bid for this project, and I don't regret it at all.
Started with canned, copy-pasted disclaimers with info, totally not applicable to my project. Then insisted on in-person consultation I did not want or need. Continued by putting my email on marketing spam lists and all kinds of reminders and confirmations I didnt ask for. After I asked to stop spamming my inbox with advertisements, they cancelled the consultation they themselves insisted to have, because they do not wish to stress me with their process.... Several days of my time wasted, and one of the worst contractor hiring experiences I've ever had. Stark contrast with other companies I reached out to about the same project.

That is called being objective. But hey, look at the bright side: now your employees don't have to be subjected to my requests to be removed from the spam lists you put me on without my consent, before you even took the job!
I contacted about a dozen companies about the same project, and guess how many started sending me spam, and copy-pasting pre-recorded messages, with nonsense, not applicable to my project, because their employees are too lazy to type their own message, pertinent to requested work? ONE.

We recently had some electrical and plumbing work done with Point Loma. Our experience was excellent! From the emergency response to our situation all the way through to the completion and follow-up of both projects. Big shout out to Curtis and Ramon from the electrical side and to Luis and Alex on the plumbing side. Would definitely not hesitate to call on them again!
Amazing service and workmanship. Frankie is awesome. He installed a new outdoor plug with weatherproof cover, a new plug in my guest bedroom (which required him to crawl under the house and run a new line), replaced some faulty GFCI plugs in my kitchen (one right next to the sink!), and upgraded an existing outdoor plug with a new GFCI plug and weather-proof cover. And as a courtesy he fixed some lazy work done by previous owners in my subpanel and main panel because it was a potential fire hazard.
He was incredibly thorough and pointed out other things he recommended I fix, like old outlets original to the house that aren't grounded (!!).
He also did all the work the same day. I couldn't believe he finished it all. The installs look great and workmanship is top notch.
The cost was ~$1800 for everything. This is my first home, so I don't know if this is expensive or not, but the service and work was incredible and I'm glad I got it done instead of needing to waste time shopping around a bunch of quotes.
Next time I get electrical work done I'm definitely going to request Frankie.

We recently moved to San Diego from Paon Springs - having purchased a top-floor condo in the new Civita neighborhood. Since we live in a condo, it's always necessary to use licensed, bonded and insured companies for repair and improvement matters. Point Loma E&P was recommended to us by a friend of our realtor. Every interraction we have had with them has been exceptional! We had them change all our interior lights to LED, which required some retrofit due to having builder-installed CFL ceiling lights - we had several plumbing fixtures updated and installed a Point of use water filter dispenser in our kitchen. Shout out to David Smith, Luis Hernandez, Michael Morales and especially to Curtis Gordon for their exceptional service and professionalism!
We look forward to using Point Loma E&P for all future service and update matters for our E&P systems.
I am very satisfied with the service I received. The owner was very responsive and explained the process clearly. The tech was able to fix the electrical issue quickly and was very friendly and explained the issue in detail. I will def be using their services in the future.

Everyone we interacted with was very nice and courteous. We called to get a quote to install and electric hot water heater with a heat pump. The lady on the phone was very committed to scheduling us in and a few hours later, a plumber arrived to give us a quote.
I told the plumber we were interested in getting an electric hot water heater with a heat pump. I added that we have solar so the solar would cover any electricity we used. The plumber said, Gas is so cheap. Electricity is so expensive, you don't want to do that. Here's where my experience went downhill. By that comment, it was clear to me that the plumber didn't understand the new techology or was just trying to upsell me.
I got a quote for $4k to install a 50 gallon gas heater or $6k to install a tankless unit. Two days after the initial visit, I got an itemized breakdown of their gas heater estimate (no itemized breakout for the $6k tankless estimate). Labor for the regular gas heater was $1,800. These costs are for all materials and labor.
Anyways, as I mentioned before, everyone I spoke with was nice and friendly. I wish the plumber hadn't been so dismissive of the new techology and their prices weren't so high. I ended up getting my electric/heat pump heater installed for about $1k + the cost of the unit $800. That's correct, my total cost of $1,800 was equal to their labor installation cost.
Summary, nice people. Seemingly prices on the higher end.

Paid 79 dollars to get quoted 3k more for one job. I had 3 other quotes and wanted to go with this company because of their quick turn around time. I knew it would be more expensive but not that expensive. Staff was friendly and estimate and time to do estimate was speedy and organized. I spoke with them about possible alternatives to lower the price but still came out about 3k more. Regretting paying for the estimate but we live and learn.

I have heard that Point Loma Electric is good and therefore have recommended them for years. I finally needed their services and made an afternoon appointment. I received and automated call informing me that they were still tied up at other jobs but would still be coming.
At 3:45 PM I called and was told that they could not come after all. I would need to reschedule. This is with lights out and no electricity to most of my home. I was disappointed with this customer service and more disappointed that the lady on the phone seemed to just want to inform me of their inability to come out as planned and then say goodbye. I didn't feel any kind of sympathy for my situation.
I called another company that same afternoon (Green Electric) and they came within the hour. Great service and a pleasure to work with.

We needed to replace some of the original water lines. We had quotes from two different companies, and the one from Point Loma Electric and Plumbing was more thoroughly prepared than the other quote. Michael, who prepared the estimate, took the time to go into the crawl space to take photos and document all of the areas in need of repair. Manuel and Phillip finished the work in one day, on a Friday! We were grateful that we didn't need to have our water turned off for an extended period of time. The next week we had low water flow in one of the bathroom sinks. Manuel returned and fixed the problem. Communication was great with Jessica at the office. Jessica sends text messages and calls to update with technician arrival times so you don't have to wait all day.

Awesome business to work with. Javier came out to my home to provide a free quote for two 220 volt outlets I was looking to get installed. Javier explained the process from beginning to end on how the job would be complete and showed me where and what would be done in the home, gave a competitive price, and ensured the job was started quickly. Eric and Angel did the installation and the work turned out great and they clean up afterwards. Glad I picked Point Loma Electric for the job and will definitely look to them for future wiring installations.

Getting them to work with our insurance is like pulling teeth, but they sure were quick to accept a $30K payment for whole-home rewire.

This is a company that we have used multiple times in the past and trusted. We have always been happy with their service until this scheduled visit. Despite scheduling a morning appointment they booked us for an afternoon and then just called us to tell us that they were unable to service us today. This is incredibly poor customer service especially when we took days of vacation in order to be home and at the house at the time of the service. We notified the customer service agent about this specifically and were offered no appointment time and no additional compensation. Given our previous experiences with this company I expected much more. Based on this experience, Beware scheduling an appointment with them as they are unreliable and their ability to make their scheduled time..
Point Loma Electric specializes in older homes and did a fantastic job replacing several of our vintage 1960s electrical panels and installing a new EV charger. They worked with us on our budget and quirky technical needs. Sales rep, office staff, and crew were super professional and friendly and on time (two days) and on budget. Sales rep even gave us a useful, affordable tip for solving a baffling challenge. Highly recommend!
I have an older house with the original breaker box and old circuit breakers. I awoke from an afternoon nap on Sunday and discovered the electricity was off. Went out to the breaker box and tried toggling the circuit breakers before being told the whole neighborhood has an outage. Three of the circuit breakers wouldn't toggle back on and when power was restored, only had electricity in half the house.
Called Point Loma Electric & Plumbing and spoke with Ichollie who said I can be on standby and set up an appointment later if necessary.
James Fogg called a short time later and said he could be here soon.
James arrived and examined the breaker box. He checked the circuit breakers and did safety checks on circuits in the house. We discussed the issues of older homes that use obsolete parts. James clearly explained that we can still get the old circuit breakers which are getting rare and expensive and the option of doing an expensive breaker box upgrade.
I chose to replace the existing circuit breakers. James got the parts, did the installations, and did final checks to make sure everything was good.
James is a very courteous and professional technician. I highly recommend James and Point Loma Electric & Plumbing.
Big thanks to Point Loma Electric and Plumbing. I was in a bind with a washer and dryer scheduled for delivery to our rental house, and we needed new valves ASAP. They were understanding and flexible, and scheduled us for first thing the next morning. David was our technician and he was fantastic. He was friendly, fast, clean, and accommodating, especially since the washer and dryer delivery guys showed up at the exact same time. And his work looks great! Having used Point Loma Electric in the past we felt good about calling them for a plumbing problem....a toilet needed to be reset, a basic bread and butter job for any plumber. Brandon Moreno was the plumber they sent and he appeared pleasant, capable and knowledgeable, quoting the job at $435, a fair price. . My husband was a former contractor (retired) and had done jobs like this on our previous homes and rental properties. When Brandon removed the toilet he found that the flange was broken and left to buy a replacement. He had problems finding one and After an hour he came back and said he would have to increase the price to $1,000 plus. When we objected he called the company owner and they reduced it to something in the $750 range, still too high for us. We had to say no, the price was almost double what it should have been. We called another plumber, highly rated, they came out and fixed it today, including replacing the flange, for a total price of $400. They were in and out within 40 minutes, job completed as promised. We will never call Point Loma Electric and Plumbing again, and suggest you look for other options. In reading several the other reviews this up-pricing and gouging seems to be characteristic of this company
Toilet leaking- David Smith plumber came great worker. Very professional answered all my questions fixed the leak and i will be requesting him to come back for a remodel.

I am very happy with both the electrical and plumbing services I have received so far from Point Loma, specifically from Jimmy Fogg. He is extremely knowledgeable, trustworthy, and really worked with me on prioritizing what needed to be done to fix our electrical issues in our old house. The plumber who we have worked with were also great and were able to identify issues on the horizon as well as fixing what we needed. We were planning on installing a new sink ourselves and the plumber identified a couple of issues to take care of first that would have become a real problem for us once we started! The plumbers were also honest and willing to explain what repairs we could do ourselves in order to stay on budget. Highly appreciated. Point Loma is very communicative and and their personnel is very pleasent to engage with. As others have noted, they are not always the cheapest compared to other bids but if you use them, you WILL get the work done right and with a guarantee. Thank you Point Loma Electric and Plumbing!
Zaby with Point Loma Plumbing came out to give me a second opinion on some plumbing work that needed to happen in order to put this old ass house on the market. He was courteous, followed Covid safety guidelines, and best of all, was honest. I never felt pressured to have more work done than required and the price seemed fair.
I'd recommend him to anyone seeking plumbing work and it's too bad that I finally found a trustworthy plumber now that I'm moving out of the area.
I lost power in two rooms of my house,including my office on Friday. I reached out to a couple electricians. Pt Loma Electric was the first to respond and was able to schedule an inspection/estimate for Monday. No one else had time for me until later in the week. The communication from their office was great before Curtis arrived. They even texted a picture so I would know who would be coming to the house.
Curtis was on time, very friendly, and quickly diagnosed my problem. He quoted me what I thought was a good price and said he could fix it the same day. True to his word, he went and got the part and I had complete power the same day! In addition, Curtis did a quick review of the house and gave me advice on the condition of the other outlets, breaker box, etc.

Nobody wants to call a plumber- I'd only when there is a problem and so you're already stressed anticipating hassle, huge expense and having to deal with people you may be taking advantage. Our regular plumber was booked when we called for a leaky faucet. My husband noticed the work van in the area with a local number. He called and the receptionist was polite, professional and a good listener. Within a couple of days our 'technician' Brandon arrived, on time, masked, and ready to help. He too heard my concerns and was very responsive. He returned the next day with all the parts required. He did everything he promised and more at a fair price. Super satisfied with the work performed and especially with Brandon. Very courteous, intelligent, a skilled worker who left the area clean when done too. Highly recommend!!
My electrician Ramon Ramirez did an excellent job. He was quick and efficient in installing the outlet in my backyard. He also took the time to show me how to use the weather protector and explain the way that the outlet is wired. I will be using this company again for future works
Dave the plumber came out in regards to an issue we had with setting up a new washer and dryer. He was on time and very friendly and knowledgeable. He took the time to let me know what he saw and why he was making his recommendations. Our issue got solved in one visit. We live in a 120 year old house (old train station) and have used Pt. Loma for years because of their experience with old house wiring. In 2015 they installed a ceiling fan in the living room. Apparently the former owner who did the work did not install it properly and it began to pull down the board in the ceiling it was attached to. I was getting worried as the separation kept increasing. Today wonderful Reese came, took it down, inspected it, discovered the problem and did a great job repairing it, using long screws to attach it securely. He was very knowledgeable. He also changed a light bulb in the closet that I couldn't reach without climbing a step ladder (not safe at 80!). They did not charge me a penny as it was not done correctly originally. A great company. Reese is a fine young man, very courteous and helpful. He has a great future ahead of him!! I continue to recommend Pt. Loma Electric!
We had Luis from Point Loma Electrical come out to trouble shoot an on going problem for us. He was on time, professional and willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done. He found the solution to the problem and now the lights are working like champs!

Would definitely be sure to get a second or third opinion when having them come out. Asked for an estimate to have a tankless water heater installed and have them do some electrical work along with it(amongst other things), which was quoted for thousands of dollars. Didn't sound right, so had them send a second person out to take another look, only to be told the installation was not possible given my circumstances (which was fine). When I asked why the first tech wrote such a high estimate and for so much work, the response was he must have overlooked it. Not very comforting. Would definitely recommend doing your research and obtaining 2-3 opinions when dealing with them.
Beware of this company's outrageous fees. I was tricked into hiring this company because they offered free estimate. When the technician got there, he demanded $395 to do any kind of assessment. This is not a free estimate. This company does not give hourly rate over the phone because their fees are so much higher than other companies. I needed a repair of a simple light fixture but they told me the entire unit needs rewiring and quoted $4500 or they wouldn't fix the lights. $395 wasted and nothing was done. My unit lighting works perfectly other than this light fixture. I checked 3 other companies and one company already told me the probable cause for the problem without coming out and this company merely confirmed it with $395 but refused to repair it because they want a much bigger job. Instead of fixing the problem I asked for, they kept looking for more ways to make profit, this is wrong and dishonest. They contacted me several times afterwards to ask if I wanted to do the rewiring of the entire unit and I said no. It's only right they refund the money. I suppose many people might fall into their business gimmicks and end up doing unnecessary mega electrical work and pay thousands of dollars. I believe businesses should offer transparency in their fees and offer competitive rate. The technician said each company can charge whatever they want, no wonder they had first availability compared to other companies, I suggest going with another company even with waiting little longer. I would have had the light fixed for less than $200 if I went with another company according to the quote, They say free estimate, IT'S definitely NOT!!!.
I've been thinking about replacing my water heater for a few months when I realized that I had 18 years on my current water heater (apparently 8 to 12 is the expected lifetime). I'd been putting it off. However, we noticed an unrelated leak from our bathroom into our kitchen, so I figured I'd have them come out and give me a quote for a new water heater and to fix the leak.
Right from the get-go, the experience was great. The called and scheduled a consultation (and waived the $65 service fee - maybe because of COVID?) right away. They sent a text, email, and called me to let me know when the technician was on his way out.
Mark came out and gave me the rundown on a new water heater. He gave me several options, but we wound up going with a tankless heater. Additionally, he said the leak was because of poor caulking and that we just needed to re-do that. My wife and I a fairly handy so we wound up doing that ourselves. Didn't charge us for the advice.
Then Mark and another co-worker (I can't remember his name) and replaced our 18 year old water heater with a new tankless model. Endless hot water!
All along the way Harley was giving us calls to let us know when they were coming out and on their way.
Great experience with these guys.

Needed to have the very basic worn out on/off switch for the lights in my bathroom replaced. Also was told by another electrician that 1 outlet in my bedroom's basic wires were crossed and needed to be corrected, even though it's been that way since 1966 and works fine . So had an appointment with PLP&E. The electrician quoted me $400 to do that work. I was so shocked. Really? They're simple things that have instructions on Utube on how to do, but you would think having a professional electrician do the work is safer. Well, not if you're an older woman owning a small condo in Point Loma. To make things even worse, a man from the company called this morning to follow up. I told him the situation and he said they do quality work and they guarantee it. Really? $400 for half an hour of work, if that long? So, he ended by saying he would get back to me next week. OMG.. so... think twice before calling these people who are just looking to take advantage of people.

I was impressed by this company 3 years ago. This week (10/4/21) my horrible experience caused me to take them off my list forever. Called to get a quote on replacing one failed timer switch and installing a new timer switch in a bathroom that had only on/off switch. Both switches operated bathroom fans. Technician arrived at 1:30PM from an A.M. appointment request. OH Well. Then he told me it'd be difficult to find the existing switch (10,20,30, 60min. timer) but could get a 10, 20, 30 min timer switch. The price quoted was $686.00. I told them way too high and suggested around $400. They countered no, at least $500. I asked him to break down parts and labor.. technician said he couldn't do that. I paid the trip fee ($65.00) and said Thank you.
I found their switch at Home Depot. I found the switch I needed Levitron LTB601LZ on Amazon for $23. and Supply House.com for $33.50. So even at retail they wanted approx $600.00 to replace two(2) switches. Almost GOUGED and quite upset I found a local master electrician (licensed /insured) and he installed both switches for $125.00. So... Pt Loma to lazy to source the proper switch, then ask for about $500-$600. in labor. Never again will I trust this company. I felt quite violated by their unprofessional commercial conduct.

Luis came to repair my leaky toilet. The company gave me a call the day before the repair and also approximately 30 minutes before Luis' arrival. He diagnosed the issue right away and repaired it promptly. He was courteous and professional. I would highly recommend Point Loma Electrical and Plumbing for your electrical and plumbing needs.
So happy I found these guys! They did work on indoor and outdoor lighting today and did an A+ job. My biggest stress was that I was going to have to do drywall repair but none was needed on any of the lights. Hector and his coworker were awesome. Kept me updated the whole time, were transparent about pricing upfront, and pleasant to work with. Definitely will be using these guys again. On the pricier side, but quality work!

In the past I had a very pleasant experience with this company relating to an electrical issue. Reasonably priced and an honest, knew-what-he-was-doing technician.
So-o-o, when I was researching a new Badger 5 garbage disposal, I contacted Point Loma Electric and Plumbing. Not good...They refused to give a quote/estimated cost over the phone. I was told someone would need to come to the house, then I would receive a price. THEY DIDN'T VOLUNTEER THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION until I asked if there would be a charge for this evaluation visit: BY THE WAY, THERE WOULD BE A $65 FEE which would be applied to the service if I wanted the work to be done. Seems like a shady business practice.
Rip-off...you are kind of stuck with the repair whether or not you think the price is fair because of the consultation fee. Since they charge by the job and not per hour (again, I had to ask before that information was shared), AND they advertise in the newspaper with price quotes AND they seem to offer actual quotes via the internet (according to their website), I was puzzled about their refusal to give me a telephone quote.
Again, this was for a garbage disposal swap out, not some complicated plumbing issue. I guess they like the idea that you are probably going to hire their technician do the service so you won't be out the $65 consultation for nothing. So-o, I hired another company that had no problem with giving a phone quote... and had no so-called consultation fee.
Sigh...I noticed somewhere that this was advertised as a female-run business, and I really wanted to support their company by giving them my business.
I applied For an Electrician position job at this Company but I didn't get hired, But, it's ok because I learned lots in few hours from this Company ! I really impressed with their hiring process and with the way they treat their employees!! It's awesome, they really care about safety, the Safety is not just a word in this business place, it's also done very well so all their employees and Supervisors are very aware of safety and care about each other and their costumers

I blew fuses, accidentally, after running 2 space heaters. I have solar panels, so have been trying to get used to them and use electricity rather than gas heat. Even though my fuse panel was marked, due to work Pt Loma electric had done, after I needed my system upgrade, following solar panel installation, I couldn't figure out how to put the fuses/breakers, back into the correct spot. Curtis did an excellent job, over the phone with me. He literally had a photo of my panel box that he found, saved from earlier, by Pt Loma electric technician. Curtis walked me thru, over phone, how to put fuses/breakers back into correct place, and I got them all re-set. He told me, all would be SAFE, and that I shouldn't have any concerns about blowing fuses again, but just recommend, 'don't use 2 space heaters at same time'.

Harley immediately got in touch after I asked for a quote on water jetting our clogged backyard pipes, and Mark Irwin came out shortly thereafter. The price was lower than their competitors, and they offered to do more! I will definitely use them again. They also fixed a small electrical problem for free. And yes, they wore masks and booties.

All I requested was RO filter change. The staff, 2 men came in and went through all sinks and bathrooms in the house taking photos so they could present me with an expensive update fix to my plumbing. Giovanni was very nice, and professional. The only issue was all I wanted to do was have filters changed. I didn't trust the company after this surprise home evaluation. The filters use cost about 50.00 to replace. These guys wanted 250.00! I had the filters also. I got nothing done and I will be changing the filters.
You have the Howe people, the smell good folks, white glove guys, the we will wow you company and many others who I called when looking to have a Tankless water heater installed before my old free standing water heater went out.
Pt. Loma Plumbing sent out a fellow named Mark to see what I wanted to do. Mark explained everything to me and the difference between the good and not so good tankless water heaters and each of their warranties as well as the service Pt. Loma Plumbing offers which was better than most without the extended warranty fees.
Not only did Mark give me the estimate he was also the installer with an assistant which says a lot to me. No hype! just outstanding customer service and professionalism, neat and clean after installation, explaining the operation of the tankless not just handing me a manual.
I can't say enough about Mark and everyone at Pt. Loma Plumbing. Trust me, I believe I spoke with all who worked there because I had so many questions not ever having a tankless water heater before. The best thing they never pressured me... I could go on about their service and their employees but instead I will just say.

Words cannot express how amazing the team at Point Loma Electric and Plumbing have been! We have been planning to upgrade our electrical for the last two years and were finally able to make it happen thanks to them. Incredible shout out to Aaron, Lalo, Bryan, Jimmy, and Ramon! They are professional, show up on time, listen to feedback, clean up after themselves, and are fantastic to work with! Our job was not easy and extended numerous days beyond the original plan. They stayed positive, upbeat, and communicative throughout. As a woman, I've found that contractors don't always want to listen to feedback and these guys are not that way at all! I never write negative reviews but you guys deserve this one. My carpenters accidentally broke a fresh water valve under my kitchen sink. Water was spraying all over my kitchen floor. So I turned off the main water valve in the garage. I called my friends at PLE&P to come over and replace a couple of water valves. Your guy quoted $2700. Twenty Seven Hundred F'in Dollars to do a $100 job. I bargained him down to $300 but he had to ask his boss for approval. What a ripoff. To make matters worse, one of the new valves was leaking the next day. You guys wanted more money to fix it. I warned my 95 yr old mother to be careful of plumbers like PLE&P. I'll never call PLE&P to help me with any of my properties again.
Had a clogged kitchen sink. PL plumbing came more quickly than others. They were adaptable to our timing needs. Will was thorough and completed our work satisfactorily. We will use them again.
As a nice touch, they gave us a bag with hand sanitizer, a face mask, and a roll of tp.

Requested a quote for some electric work which they were happy to provide for a fee. Part of the service included a free plumbing inspection. Ultimately their prices were nearly 3 times what other licensed electricians charged for the exact same work. Chandelier install. We did not use them for electrical. It we ended up having some plumbing work done by Point Loma which I am sure we over paid for as well but needed done in a hurry. At the end of the day the electrician and plumber were great folks and performed completely fine work.
Way too expensive. Almost $300 to replace one GFI.
Then a $500 quote or something ridiculous to replace a garbage disposal.
The tech was nice, people on the phone were nice. But way too expensive.
The only reason i called them because mike slater talks about them on his show.
I will never use them or again or recommend them.

I had an issue with a switch going bad on an outlet. The technician Anthony Correia did a great job fixing my issue. I am really happy with the high quality work. I will be using them again for sure.
Great service and friendly, professional technicians, Kennedy and Juan. I had seen them in my neighborhood and I was in need of an electrician for a remodel. I'm glad I stopped them and inquired. I had a large order to fill (circuit panel replacement, several fixtures to install, outlets to fix, etc.) and they got it all done in a day. They even took the time to explain some of the more technical details over some areas of concern so I could make the decision on the repair. I would definitely use their services again.
Point Loma Electric and Plumbing is definitely worth considering if you need electrical repairs. From their prompt reply and ease of scheduling to the quality of service and work they provide they really do take care of their customers. Dan was my technician and his years of experience showed right away. He assessed the areas I needed done then added a few recommendations. He gave me multiple quotes to help save on cost then got right to work. Even when an unexpected plumbing issue occurred, do to the very old pipes and valves in my condo, a technician from the plumbing side of the company came out right away to fix it at no cost as well as another electrician to ensure the minor delay didn't keep Dan from finishing in a timely manner. That's customer service. If you have electrical or plumbing needs they're a solid choice.
I found this company on Yelp and needed someone to come out the next day to switch a faulty dimmer over to a normal switch. The process was super easy and the guys arrived on time. I was very happy with their work, and on their way out they noticed an exposed wire from my dryer and hopped on the roof in the rain to fix that too! Overall I was very impressed with Mike & James - thank you for going above and beyond.
I met with Anthony for a ac installation quote and all went well. He arrived on the later side of the appointment window however the office made sure to maintain clear communication by proving updates on eta. I also received a text message before arrival with the technicians info and eta. Anthony was very patient and assessed every concern throughly. He had an estimate ready for me to look over. A day later I had a question about the estimate and he was kind enough to call back and provide clarification. Very professional!
I called out Point Loma Electric because I was getting some flickering lights in my house. I explained to the technician I thought maybe the power tools from the construction next door might be the cause but was not sure. And really I didn't think it was possible. The technician told me to first call SDGE and have them come out and check the lines that come from the pole to my house. The Technician didn't want to start trouble shooting, possibly find nothing and have to charge me. He also didn't charge me for him to come out which I was more than willing to pay.
I took his awesome advice and had a SDGE linemen come over and check his lines. It turns out I had a bad connection from the pole into my house. SDGE fixed the problem and it did not cost me anything since it was on the SDGE side. But the Linemen did suggest to replace the mast and line that comes into my house because the line was of lower grade and the current installation is not as safe as it could be. My house was built in 1960.
I then turned around and called out Point Loma Electric and asked for a quote on the work. They gave me a competitive quote and I didn't bother to call anyone else because I trusted they could do a great job. I was not home when the technician finished I went and checked the work and it all looked good except for a few minor details. I called Point Loma Electric and explained my somewhat dissatisfaction. I was very happy on the more than gracious response and integrity to make sure I was 100% satisfied. They came out again and fixed it all and made sure I was 100% satisfied before they left.
I'd like to give a shout out to Charlie ad Scott for being patient and taking good care of me. And thanks for supporting supporting the Military by giving us a discount.
After speaking with the owner, the replacement fixture was located and installed this week. Charlie, the electrician was super friendly and professional. Thank you for addressing my concerns.

Companies like this do not exist anymore. Point Loma Electrical performed work on my home back in 2014/2015. I forgot to mention in my previous review that they installed an LED light under my kitchen cabinets. A couple weeks ago the light started flickering and eventually stopped working. I called them to come out to fix it; thinking the bulb/tube(?) needed to be replaced. There must have been something minor going on with my electrical because they fixed pretty quick. I asked how much I owed and the electrician said, nothing... you're still under warranty... Honesty and excellent service! I will only go to these guys for my electrical work in the future! Thank you PLE&P!
I sent a quote from Yelp and they were able to get someone to come out and give me a quote in two days! They called and scheduled an appointment. The best thing they did was text me with who was arriving and they even sent me a photo! That made me super comfortable knowing in advance who would be in my house. Point Loma Electric was beyond amazing. I called first thing on Monday and got a 4 hour timeslot later that day and then got a call within an hour saying their team had finished up early and could come by. This was to fix an old smoke alarm on 15ft vaulted ceilings.
When Mike & Frank arrived they were extremely polite, professional and helpful. As PLE claimed, the team had everything they needed (no store run to get the parts). Mike and Frank were fantastic and solved the problem immediately. I always respect and appreciate people who are honest and not just trying to upsell you. I will definitely be using PLE in the future!
Of all the myriad of places I reached out to, Point Loma Electric was the quickest to get back to me. That means a lot to someone like me who is always on the go. It seems they really wanted my business and it stuck in my head even when I called them back two months later! Speaking with the customer service representatives was great. Brandy and Mary were really great to work with. They were very responsive and informed me with reminders and updates as they were made available.
Greg came out to fix a ceiling flush mount light that wasn't working. After assessing the problem it took him about an hour to fix. He was a little late due to a previous job and acknowledged and apologized. Love that. It means a lot to recognize that other people's time is valued. Nevertheless Greg was the consummate professional. He even gave me a credit for the full cost of the job, about 300 dollars so that if I decided to go a different way with the light in the future I wouldn't be double charged for the work. Incredible. He was also very engaging with conversation and we talked about the NBA playoffs while he worked.
All this coupled with the fact that Point Loma Electric retains a BBB rating of A+ and has numerous other reviews on other platforms really makes me feel good that I went with them. What a great experience. Can't wait to have them back for other projects in the future!

Hector spent a day and half refurbishing our old 100 Ampere panel, replacing weak and burned breakers, removed 3 8 ft florescent lights with 2 LED systems, installed dedicated washing machine and surveillance flood lights with camera, and repaired several light switches. Hector was curtious and plesent the whole time. I'm pleased to give Hector and Point Loma a 5 star rating!

I put off installing ceiling fans and recessed lighting because it seemed a daunting task to find the right contractor/electrician to do it. I happened upon a referral to Pt. Loma Electric through a neighbor on the website Little Italy Nextdoor, as someone posted a comment about the great job they did. Inspired by this random comment, I looked the company up and was impressed by all the favorable reviews. I called and booked my appointment for an estimate and the experience was top notch from that moment on.
Ramon came to my house and gave me some nice suggestions for lighting. I was clueless about how much light I needed and he was spot on with his recommendations. Upon scheduling the work, the crew showed up timely as promised. They were a courteous bunch, very professional, and they wore uniforms and boot covers (which were a nice touch). The entire crew was awesome, I felt secure in handing my house over to them for the day. They finished the project in a day and a half-exactly as promised. They cleaned everything up when they left and were careful to cover everything to contain the mess as much as possible. I absolutely love the way everything turned out. 100% satisfied!
Ramon is a standout in a sea of mediocre customer service. He is meticulous in his work and handled my project with finesse. I could not have asked for more. If there is a downside to my 5 star review, it would be that Pt. Loma Electric is not cheap. But, I firmly believe you get what you pay for. I wanted my project done right and I have piece of mind that it was. That being said, I do feel the price was very fair. I have already recommended them to a friend and will use them again when I do my next job. Ramon does not cut corners and I feel that is a good thing when you are dealing with electrical.

I recently purchased a dated condo and contacted Point Loma Electric on Yelp to see if they could help with some issues that came up during home inspection. Within hours I received a response, and one phone call later I had an appointment for inspection and estimate set up. Two days later, the electrician (Charlie) arrived on time to inspect and give estimate.
Charlie was able to inspect my electrical panel which needs replacement and outlet switches that were upside-down. He was able to provide an estimate on the spot for repairs. I always get several quotes before getting work done and the quote I received from Point Loma Electric was in-line with others. Given the great reviews online I decided to go forward with correcting the upside-down switches and the three way switch that was not wired correctly.
I was impressed with Charlie's level of knowledge on issues I had questions about and pride he took in his work. I feel like when he left I had a much better understanding of the electrical panel issue and how it needed to be corrected. I will most likely go with this company when I decide to get my panel replaced.
I'm working with other companies on plumbing issues and installing new flooring. It seems like everyone takes forever to respond, let alone quote or do work for a reasonable cost. I was impressed that Point Loma Electric seemed to be on the ball with everything. From the moment I requested a quote to the moment I ended the customer-satisfaction call after Charlie left, I was impressed. I will use this company again in the future when I need electrical work done.

I'm military, was on work-travel when my wife had an issue with the air conditioning. Based on yelp review, I'd recommended she call Point Loma Electric & Plumbing. BAD DECISION. Simple short between 240v air conditioning wiring and air conditioner unit. They ran conduit on the OUTSIDE OF THE HOUSE (from the front of the house all the way to the backyard) and charged us more than $4,240. See the pictures. Our home is the only house that looks like a Frankenstein, with conduit running outside and right above the front door. What a shame! When I returned home from travel, my wife was in tears....she was so embarrassed and ashamed! Knew that she'd been taken advantage of....I won't say more, except WHAT A SHAME! Now I'm going to have to remove all of the conduit myself. I called Point Loma Electric, basically they said TOUGH LUCK. Now I'm considering pursuit of a small claims court suit to try and receive some sort of remedy. Pics and price say it all, STAY AWAY FROM Pt. Loma Electric & Plumbing. SHODDY WORK and Look at the Price I had to pay, more than $4.2K!!!
I had Point Loma Electric and Plumbing run an electric line out to an island grill. They came out and quoted, scheduled and completed the job in under a week.
when on site, they were very professional and quick to explain all that they were doing.
I'd hire them again in a second!

We waited a week for our friend electrician who bombed out on us. So now we needed someone pronto and Pt Loma Electric fit us in that day. What a relief!
Ramone and Adam were here from 4-9pm without charging us an overtime or rush fee. They fixed everything we asked for and it took 2 hours to locate the source of trouble. They also discovered faulty wiring in our attic connecting two bedroom ceiling fans. They volunteered to stay and get it all done at once if we could make a decision. Once they showed us pictures of the horrible work up there, we decided to pay for that too. They explained everything and answered all my questions. They are expensive but worth it. 4 Handymen turned this job down first and we now think they could not have handled it anyway.....another electric company referred me to them because they could not get to us for a week and a half.

I requested an electrician for some ongoing electrical issues in my condo on a Friday, and Point Loma sent someone the following Monday morning! The company was communicative about timing, calling me with a status update the morning of, and the electrician arrived in a very reasonable time-frame (about an hour). The guy they sent (Mike Murphy) was great; professional, informative, and very upfront about potential costs. He resolved all the wiring issues I had (minor loose wires and broken fixtures) for a reasonable price, ran to home depot to get a replacement fixture which he drilled and installed for me, and also gave useful advice about better lighting options (LED vs. CFL) and about some appliance issues beyond the wiring. I still got in to work by noon-ish! I would go to these folks again.
I bought an EV and needed a dedicated 220-volt plug installed. I made an appointment and I was told the tech would be here to look at the job and complete it the same day if I approved. I told the person I talked to on the phone I work at 1030 each day so I needed them here early so I can get to work.
The installer came, gave me a reasonable price, and said he couldn't do the work that day. We made another appointment for the installation to be complete. The next appointment day I received a call around 0800 telling me my installers would be at my house in 30 to 45 minutes. I reminded her that I had work and I was told by the installer he would be here at 0800.
An installer showed up with one of the leads to see what was going on and what they could do. The original tech that gave me the quote was not with them and he didn't pass any information on. I explained what I needed, and they said they needed to order parts. My issue with this is I was told the parts were already being ordered and they would have them to install. A 3rd appointment was made.
The lead told me they would be here at 0800 so I could get to work. I get a call at 0745 and the message said they would be here in 30 minutes. I called back after an hour and I was told they are at the warehouse getting parts.
They had the job done in under 90 minutes. After they left I went to plug in the new charger and........ the plug they installed was wrong. The lead took a picture of what plug I was using for my specific charger and said they would install that one.
I called after I calmed down and they sent someone out as soon as they could. He came, I showed him what I needed, and he went off to the parts warehouse. He came back and installed the correct parts. He also had to re-do the work of the 2 guys here earlier that day, they didn't run a 30 amp wire or something to that effect.
Everyone I talked to was friendly, polite, and professional, just never on time and lacked communication. They were the only company that came up on home advisor for installing EV related things or I would have told them not to come back and I would have hired someone else.
This took my whole day, I had to miss work at the , which cost me money. The reason for 2 stars is the last tech that came last had the integrity, and was honest enough, to fix something he saw wrong.

Horrible service. Made an appointment between 8-12 a week a head of time. And called in the morning to confirm and was told the appointment was still on the schedule. No calls come noon. Called the office and the girl I spoke to was condescending stating we don't guarantee the times and expect you to go about your day and we will call you thirty to forty five minutes prior to your appointment. What is the point of scheduling a block of four hours if the appointment is any time of the day? Makes no sense to me. The girls would give me NO estimations stating they are too busy. I then asked to speak to someone else who stated I was next in line after the person returned from lunch. What horrible communication with their clients. Especially when I had called not once but twice in the morning. Horrible service. Don't bother expecting scheduled times to be honored. They do not care about your personal needs when it comes to scheduling your day.
Pt. Loma Electric gets no stars from me. Unfortunately, I am forrced to leave a star. I am a very disappointed, mishandled cuustomer. Had an appointment on July 18 for repair on my attic fan as well as discussing flood light installation. I was assigned an 8 am to 12 pm window. I waited till 11:30 am, no Pt. Loma Electric. Called, was told electriicians called in sick, as well as, there had been an emergency so they were behind. At 1:15 they callled me to say they would be at my home at 2 pm. That was too late for me as I had other business to attend to. We recheduled to July 27. I was told since I rescheduled, my time to wait would be 9 am to ll am. What a mess that day was. First of all they never called me on their own volition until I got so disgusted I asked for updates every 15 minutes. They called me once in 2:30 hrs. Same excuse, there was a fire. I told them my time was worth something and I had business to take care of. Twice I was told electrician was finidhing up. One of my calls I was told electrician was finishing up and would be st my home at 1:00, two hours past the window. He did not arrive. I called Pt. Loma Electric, asked to speak to owner. Mgr offered me $50 off, than $100.00 for inconvenience. I told him I'd rather have the electrician get to me near on time. I was not happy with the runaround TWICE. So called electrician was supposed to be very near my home, mgr canceled my appointment at 1:30 pm.
Pt Loma Electric admitted they could not get electricians when I suggested he hire more. My thought is Pt. Loma Electric knowingly over schedules their electricians and they cannot get to us in time promised.

Total, two appointments I waited 10.5 hours for them to show up. Very rude of Pt. Loma Electric to have their customers wait so many hours.
I will never recomend Pt. Loma Electric, will discourage anyone who thinks they may want to do busines with Pt. Loma Electric to include my NEXT DOOR website which gets to 4490 homes and 14 more communities.
We are happy repeat customers. The previous owner of our house was a self-declared handyman which means fire hazard. So we've had PLE out for 3 jobs now: 2 minor and 1 major fixing the old handyman's work.
The first job was cutting off an illegally installed outdoor outlet and installing an up-to-code one. Months later we had them out to install a ceiling fan. And finally, we just had them out to replace our electrical panel from an original 1960's push-button to an up-to-code one.
When we had to replace the electrical panel, they took care of everything with SDG&E which in itself can be a headache. We also moved our panel calling for stucco repair which was also part of their service and also required city inspections...again they handled it all.
Every time they have been out it was fast, they were friendly and efficient, and most importantly they did things right. They take pictures, email you receipts, much more high tech then some others out there. They even sent us a holiday card that included a gift card for future work which was unexpected and appreciated.
I trust their work and would use them for any future jobs we have.

In addition to doing a great job on a dangerous emergency situation and the resulting replacement of an entire electric panel, etc., I have recently heard from my insurance commpany. I am a new customer of Point Loma Electric. They do excellent work and provide outstanding customer service. In my case, I recently purchased a 1920s home and I knew that I needed to do an overhaul of the home wiring and an upgrade of the electric panel. I was in good hands with Point Loma Electric. The workers were very professional and respectful of my home. The completed the work well within the project timeline, they were very patient with all my questions and offered much helpful advice. I also had them install a QuietCool attic fan which is going to keep my house cool during the summer nights. They provided financing options which removed the alot of the stress of such a big project. I am so glad to have found Point Loma Electric and I recommend them highly!
I like that Point Loma was fast at getting back to customers. Something disappointing was Point Loma provided a 4 hour time period to show up for the initial estimation, but they cancelled on the very last hour. In the second appointment, two electricians who came were friendly and professional; however, they gave me an estimation of $1945 to replace two bathroom exhaust fans while the other company just replaced them for $600.

Just great! From the estimate to the installation, these guys know their stuff. I had LED lighting installed in my living room and dining room and they did an excellent job. They were clean the installation was perfect. I couldn't have asked more. I put this job off for several years because I did not know who to hire. So glad I hired Point Loma Electric. My service guys were Roland and Michael.
I needed an EV charger installed. They sent out a knowledgeable person who did a thorough investigation of how it should be done using the existing power panels and wiring. They completed the work a few days later within the time estimates. They were all very friendly and accommodating and did an excellent job. I can highly recommend the company.
I had contacted another company before which insisted on complete service upgrades and unnecessarily high EV charging requirements. Their charges would have been a multiple of what I paid.
Big thanks to Point Loma Electric for coming out and fixing all of my issues before Xmas. They added a circuit for my new oven (didn't know my old oven was wired in) and replaced all my breakers in my electrical panel (leak on roof from the rain flooded my electrical panel) in one day.
My daughter's wish to spend Xmas at home instead of a hotel came true. I can't thank Point Loma Electric enough for the work that they have done.
5 Stars just isn't enough! We remodeled an old house (about 70 years old!!) and have spent a lot of money on the electrical upgrade. The day after the electrician was finished one of the other workers plugged in his power saw and blew a fuse. Seriously? We tried getting the electrician back to fix it, but he avoided us and never returned our calls!
The job had to be done. We looked around and Pt. Loma Electric was suggested. We couldn't be more pleased. Michael came out that day and gave us their estimate. He was straight forward about their pricing and took the time to explain exactly what was needed and how they would proceed.
Today Michael and Richard showed up to attack the project. They went right to work. They were professional, efficient and a delight. Such pleasant and knowledgeable young men! Within a few hours the job was done. No mess, no fuss, no drama! I can say that Pt. Loma Electric will be our go to electricians. It was a pleasure in every way. My tenants contacted me complaining about a couple of outlets that suddenly stopped working. I contacted Point Loma electric the next morning and they sent out Mike Murphy who arrived within 30 mins. He was strait forward explaining how the pricing worked and what he had to troubleshoot. He was so knowledgeable that I had him come over to my primary residence and replace all my dimmer switches which was not an easy job. I highly recommend Point Loma Electric.

Charlie, the electrician that showed up to my house and was very polite, he wore booties over his shoes which I think is a sign of a pro. I was disappointed by a couple of aspects of the service. First, he was quoted a flat $300 to troubleshoot a light switch. I asked how long it would take and he said from anywhere from 10 minutes to several hours.
Under those condition, a flat rate seems excessive. Who would pay $300 for 10 minutes of work?
My feeling, having worked with many contractors, is that Point Loma Electric is a place that is trying to create a scalable business model with flat-rate pricing and leaving less authority to their electricians to do their job. I get that. But I personally would rather have a guy who would say well based on my experience, the cause is likely this, we could test that cause and will take me an hour at the most. If it looks like we are going to go over I will let you know and you can tell me what you want done. Of course, then you have a business model that depends too much on the judgment of the electrician.
So, I in summary, I thought Charlie was great, but I thought Point Loma's pricing model would not work for me.
We sprung a mild water connection leak in our W.C. I called PLE&P and they had Roberto there in an hour, who fixed the leak in less than 10 minutes. Their expeditious response to our call is noteworthy! Our thanks to PLE&P!

I've only used them for Plumbing so far and Thomas is absolutely amazing! He's on time, professional and a great plumber.
They were very professional and gave us a full explanation of everything they advised in the safety inspection. Provided us with options and no high pressure tactics. We've not had to have electrical work done before so I have no price comparisons. The price of home repairs always seem to be high, but their prices seemed reasonable to us.

Was really hoping for better service, but did not have a good experience. Called them out to clear a bath drain and investigate a leak in the shower. Once the plumber arrived he let me know they could not honor the $79 drain clean because there was not a proper clean out cap at the shower. I've never seen a residential shower with a clean out cap, but ok, oh well I'll pay the new charge of $189. Now to investigate the shower. The plumber says he cannot look at in unless I pay an additional $279 diagnostic fee. I asked if he could do it on an hourly rate since he's already here and at the property. Nope. Must pay the additional $279 to investigate something that will take no more then 15 min. C'mon guys, really?

I called Point Loma Electric to come and fix some electrical plugs and also check 3 GFI's. Hector came out and was right on time. I told him what I wanted done and he began to check everything and gave me a quote. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. He was very patient with me because I was asking a lot of questions. Updated Review: After telling me the electrician could not make and I cancelled, the electrician came anyway. Only 10 minutes after the appointment time slot. Taylor figured out the issue quickly and solved the problem in under an hour. I would have given 5 stars except for horrible scheduling issue. I hope they work it out.
Previous review:I would prefer to write a review with content to it but I cannot. They could not make it to my house. The front office is scattered. I had an appointment between 8 and noon. When the electrician did not arrive I called and found out they really didn't know his schedule and I would I like to reschedule. Well, no. I am now looking for someone else. This was our second experience with Point Loma Electric and Plumbing. This time we had a number of receptacles and switches replaced in our new home. The two-man crew arrived on time and completed the job in a timely manner all the while explaining what they were doing as well as emphasizing safety first! They also did a great job of cleaning up after the job and walked us through all of the changes that were made. We were quite impressed by their work ethic and will definitely continue to use their services.
Roberto is a life savor. Living in an old home in Pt Loma.... and everything old & leaking. He explained everything that was going on & what really needed to be done. We needed all our cast iron pipes replaced. Professional & so nice. He really knows his job. Showed up on time.. did everything he was supposed to do. Went over his work with me. I would recommend him to anybody..... and he was great with my dog!!!

I unfortunately had to call an electrician yesterday because some lights were malfunctioning in a few rooms in my house. I went with Point Loma because of some positive reviews on Yelp and Angie's List. They were able to come out the very next day, fix the issue in a very professional manner, give me some advice on what needed to be done eventually (entire breaker box!) without being pushy at all, and speak to me and my family in a very positive manner. I wouldn't hesitate to go back to them. I think they gave me a good price for the job that was done, especially since it was last minute, they worked quick, and explained to me what they were doing at every step of the way which was very helpful!
Never showed up for estimate. I called 3 times and got no answer. These guys are bozo's.
I can't tell you how impressed I am with this company. This is not the first time I have used them and each time it gets better. I had the electricity go out in several rooms, including tvs. and other appliances. It was after hours and the visit would be prohibitive, but Kristin calmed me down and assured me they would be there first thing in the morning and they were. His name was Greg and he was great. He found the problem immediately. He explained the situation in total, but most was lost on me. I am completely and thoroughly sold on Point Loma Electric. They are honest and caring. That's unique!! I called over the past weekend when I had an issue with some lights no working after it rained. The owner of the company took my call and was very nice. She said that she would try to get someone out there on Saturday but if not, they would call me first ting on Monday to confirm what time they will be there. It is Tuesday and I never heard from them. I got tired of waiting and called some one this morning who was very responsive and flexible enough to get out with in a couple of hours.
If you decide to go with this company, you will have to follow up to make sure they actually do what they promise. That does not work for me and I will not be using this company again.
My mother had started having problems with the electricity and she contacted Point Loma Electric, as they specialize in older houses. Most of the house had the original wiring, so they recommended a complete rewire. It was a big job, but the crew at Point Loma Electric were fully up to it and more. They were prompt, professional, thorough...I can't think of enough good adjectives to describe the experience. Chris and his crew were so thoughtful every step of the way. It is a huge relief to know that my mother now has a reliable electrical AND plumbing company to deal with any future needs.
Point Loma Electric and Plumbing are amazing! We hired them for our historic home because of their specialized experience with such homes. They did a fantastic job. They added recessed lights, ceiling fans, bathroom exhaust fans, and additional outlets. Mike Brito, one of their electricians, was especially amazing. Jim is a great guy and an honest electrician. If you want straight talk, this is your man. No sugar coating. If you want someone who will get down and dirty, Jim is the guy for you. He did such a great job on some electrical work that we had him back several times to do more.
Did I mention that he got on the phone with our insurance coverage and argued with them on our behalf? Yeah, he's THAT cool.
We are very pleased with the excellent customer service and work completed! We got a call 30 minutes before to let us know the tech was on his way. Mike introduced himself and I showed him the work we needed done. He then gave me a quote which I approved and he proceeded to do the job. He completed in a very timely manner. We felt comfortable with him in our home. He has excellent customer relations and we like the courtesy of putting shoes covers on. Thanks for a great job Mike!
Pt Loma electric helped me out! I don't recall the person's name, younger guy, but he was very nice and knew his stuff well.
My exterior light on my porch was out for several weeks. I had a neighbor, who was a somewhat experience maintenance person try to help. He spent a few hours trying breakers, outlets, etc and could find the root cause of the problem.
I called Pt Loma electric and the lady I spoke with was very helpful in explaining their process. My concern was that it would take their people just as long to diagnose the problem, and charge me by the hour. Not the case, they charge per call/visit, whether it takes them 5 mins, or 3 hours. He found the problem in one of my outlets and was able to make the fix within 45mins and was gone.
I also received a discount for telling them I found them on Yelp! I though the least I could do was write a nice review. Thanks!

Very poor customer service and dishonesty. I originally called Pt Loma electric for a ceiling fan issue, timer installation, and wanted a recessed light to light up my art at night. They fixed the fan, installed a timer which was programmed wrong, and installed a light that was unfit for art. I did not immediately comment after installation since I could not tell what the art light looked like with the bright light in the middle of the day, nor did I realize the timer was programmed wrong. However, when it became dark it was obvious that the light did not function as an art light as it cast a huge shadow and lit up the entire wall and made an obnoxious bright spot on the ceiling. It was also unlike any other art light I had in my house....because it wasn't an art light. I later found out they bought it at home depot even though the installer told me he was going to Rexel. When I called the next day to get it fixed, the owner told me that they weren't art light experts but just electricians. I wished they would have told me that prior to installing an inappropriate light (which she called beautiful...however she never actually saw it, only a picture that was taken by the installer during the middle of the day underneath my bright skylight. Of course it looked good as the skylight lit it nicely. However, it was awkward, unbecoming, and obtrusive at night.). They were scheduled to return on Thursday and were no shows. I called again and made arrangements for a 3rd morning to have it fixed. The installer was very nice and we looked at the area and both realized the light needed to be installed further away. He was more than willing to do it but came back after a phone call and told me they would need to charge me. I asked how much and he went away again for 10 minutes and came back and said they couldn't do the job but would refund me $250. I'm now left with a light that I had to ask him to disconnect and a timer for $574. I'm hoping they refund the $250. The owner mentioned in her response that I demanded, drywall, texture, paint, new wiring etc. There was never such a demand, not even a discussion. I was only hoping they would put an art light in the appropriate place and disconnect the other light.

I am very pleased with the customer service I received from Point Loma Electric and Plumbing. They installed an attic fan and whole house fan at my house. I love the whole house fan (stopping our AC usage saved us $100 on our electric bill in the first month!), but the attic fan was running constantly, creating a low buzzing noise all night. They worked diligently with me figure out a solution, and I was always treated politely by both the office staff and the technicians. I greatly appreciate their hard work to make sure that I was satisfied!
This is the first time I've worked with Point Loma Electric and wow what a great experience! I usually dread having to deal with a plumbing issue as it has typically taken a ton of time and is a nuisance to work around my schedule. But not with Point Loma Electric! They were easy to work with my schedule, were prompt and diligent. After the initial visit to scope out my issue, they came back out to repair a broken pipe under my driveway and completed the job efficiently and quickly! Their office staff was very friendly and the whole thing from start to finish was seamless! I highly recommend them!!!

Point Loma electric is such an amazing family! They have the best customer service; I appreciate that they will always stand behind their work! From the awesome Bri in the office to Rolando installing our ceiling fan. This is the second job Point Loma electric has done for us from help with flickering lights to installing a ceiling fan, they will always treat you family! I would highly recommend Point Loma Electric!
maybe i'll upgrade from 1 star later, but tech scheduled to be here between 1 & 3pm is a no-show; Bree at their office offered to drop me to the end of the queue, like next wednesday... come on people- pt loma elec&plumbg isn't really that bad... are they?

This company was hired by the property management company that manages our rental apartment to repair electrical issues we've had for months. Sometimes we were home during repairs, and other times the management company supervised the work. Overall, we're not happy with the work that has been done, the general lack of professionalism, and would not recommend this company to others. Since our property management company hired and paid this company, we don't know what the charges were, only that the drawn out repair process has been extremely inconvenient for us.
Cons:
(1) The first electrician and apprentice initially seemed to fix our problems of power outages and outlet failures, but they re-emerged weeks later. This team also somehow left our radiant heating system on. We didn't notice this until our next month's electricity bill, which was 2-3 times higher than usual. When asked about this by both me and my wife, one of the employees adamantly stated that this was physically impossible. However, after they performed more work, our radiant heater remained off and our bill normalized. No apology was made for the error, and no offer was made to reimburse us for the unwanted heating costs we incurred.
(2) All in all we had electricians from this company came to the house at least four times to fix problems they either didn't fix the first attempt or created themselves. After the first visit we found shards of copper wire, fragments of plastic and drywall, and sometimes even loose screws or bolts around the outlets they repaired. We asked them to be more careful when they had to redo their work since we have a crawling infant at home, but we continued to find debris near our outlets. An entire pile of debris was below the breaker box after the most recent repairs.
(3) We have also found broken fragments of valued belongings in our home near outlets that the electricians have worked on and cannot find the original items, evidence that the electricians broke things and threw away what they didn't clean up, without even informing us.

This was my second time using Point Loma Electric, and I am happy to say the service was outstanding. I felt they took the time to review the problem in detail with me, and showed me the scorching that occurred in my circuit panel breaker, and eventually replaced the panel. Ramon and his associate did a through job testing and reviewing the work. Scheduling the appointment was straightforward, and there was good follow through by the front office. Highly recommend.

Had them out for an estimate last summer for my old house. The quoted 4K, I ended up with another electrical recommended by my plumber and paid a third of that.
Had previously used Point Loma Electric for some wiring mods in our garage so expected good, but not cheap, work when our 8 year old Bosch dishwasher stopped working. First called a factory certified appliance repairman who thoroughly disassembled/reassembled it before announcing it was an electrical problem - instead of 120v the dishwasher was only getting 55v. Called and got on Point Loma's standby list and they fit me in early the next day. Evidently their $30 service fee is just for them showing up - they listened to my story then wanted $250 for a 'Level 1 Diagnostic and Quick Repair' - with no guarantee they could find or fix the problem. I was skeptical that a quick repair was possible since the dishwasher was on a dedicated 20 amp circuit - if it wasn't the unit itself, must be either the circuit breaker or wiring in between, right?? Charlie & Edgar troubleshot and bounced ideas off each other for about an hour and I was beginning to imagine torn out walls to repair a rat chewed wire somewhere. Then Edgar had the idea to check nearby electrical outlets - bingo. They found a loose neutral wire which meant that outlet was working fine but was intermittently causing problems with the dishwasher. Interesting fact: that outlet hadn't been worked on for over 18 months, when we had the kitchen counter tops replaced. They quickly fixed the problem and everything is running properly again. In all, an excellent diagnostic by smart, personable professionals - and don't regret the cost at all. Highly recommended.

I work as a local contractor ao I know how hard it is to manage all projects going on. I felt very well taken care of and up to date on all of my work done it was just a ceiling fan and aome track lighting for a client of mine but they moved fast and the price was right ! Thanks Guys
Office was professional and efficient. Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience with the electrician. Our electricity in of the rooms went out intermittently and the electrician who came told us that we needed to replace all the light switches in the room. Later he found out that some of the connections in the junction boxes were bad and that they needed to be fixed. We spent a total of $700 already when he recommended more work. I got a second opinion from another electrician and he found that a lot of unnecessary work was done. Needless to say that we felt taken advantage of...
We were referred to Point Loma Electric by a family member. We had an estimate done before we had received the parts needed. When the electricians showed up to do the work, they realized the job was different than what they quoted and it was going to cost quite a lot more. I called Jamie (the owner) to say we were going to cancel the job, but she convinced me to let her send out two other technicians to do the job as quoted. Ramon and Charlie showed up and did a fantastic job. They were professional, courteous, clean and QUICK! They made sure the job was done right the first time. We were so happy that we had them take care of some additional work while they were there. Their pricing was extremely reasonable and the customer service was priceless.
You can go anywhere and find an electrician, but to find a company that provides excellent customer service and stands behind their 100% satisfaction guarantee is rare. We will use Point Loma Electric again and highly recommend them to anyone in the San Diego area.
Recently purchased condo in Pacific Beach and the inspection report identified several electrical issues we were afraid we're going to be major repairs. Point Loma was able to schedule for the exact day and time I needed. Taylor arrived right on time. He reviewed the inspection report, checked everything out, explained what needed to be done and had an estimate for me within 30 minutes. He did not have one part on his truck so when he called in to have part delivered the owner of the company walked him through a different process and the price dropped a $100. I am very satisfied with the work that was done, I do not feel any corners were cut yet I was charged a VERY reasonable price based on other estimates I had received. I would highly recommend this company and if I every have a need again Point Loma electric will definitely be who I call.

Beware!!! These people are crooks. They wasted time going through a whole bunch of things and gave wrong diagnosis even when I pointed straight to the problem. It ended up costing me over $650 because of all this wasted time when they should have found the problem in 20-30 minutes. Don't try to reason with the owner. He is a bully.

I had been hearing about Point Loma Electric from Mike Slater on KFMB Radio for months before I finally made the call. They were friendly and had me set up with an appointment quickly. The quote I was provided for the work I needed to have completed was the exact price I paid at the end of the completed job. No surprises, or hidden fees. The electrician was clean cut, courteous, and kept his work space spotless. I could really tell he cared about my safety and my home. I could also tell that no corners were cut. Point Loma Electric did a quality job. Thanks to Mike Slater, this is the last electrician I will ever need. Thanks so much!
I used in the past in 2013 and it was great so I reached out again in 2016. Not at all satisfied the 2nd time. They gave me a window of 2-4pm and called saying running late at 345pm. Arrived around 430pm. The guys did not seem to know what they were doing so I did ask them to leave. I found another electrician and they fixed the issue and charged half as much as the guys said it would take to do a diagnostics. Sad that 2nd time around was no good.

Two guys came out to fix my lighting issue that was created by another electrician. I stayed while these guys worked non stop for just short of 4 hours to diagnose and repair the complex issue.

If you live in a 1970-1980 built condo - like I do - and your lights start flickering - like mine did - please do not assume it is a minor annoyance to be tolerated. Instead, call Point Loma Electric and schedule an appointment with Jon. You may find out that your breaker box breakers are in a state of meltdown and a fire hazard!!! Jon quickly identified the problem when he opened my breaker box, removed two of the breakers and showed me the brown plastic breaker burn marks on either side of the metal electrical conduits. For two days Jon and his crew of three replaced the breaker box, checked and repaired all 27 outlets and switches in the home, installed a dedicated line to service my A/C and, even, installed an additional outlet in the bathroom at no extra cost. You might be asking who moved all of the heavy furniture away from the walls and replaced it, plastered the walls where holes had to be cut and cleaned up during and after the work was finished - Jon and his crew did those jobs as well. And, they did it all with the upmost courtesy and consideration for everyone - including each other. In closing...If your home is a 1970-1980 model, and you, like me, have the original electrical breaker box, please call Point Loma Electric and schedule an inspection BEFORE your lights start flickering. If your lights are already flickering - do not wait - I urge you to call NOW.

I had to call Point Loma Electric six months after someone else did electrical work in my house. I was still having the same problems and needed a professional electrician, not someone that can fix my electrical at low cost. I had a feeling I got what I paid for with the previous company. Point Loma Electric came out and performed a very thorough inspection and found several problems with the previous work - some of which were very dangerous. I was extremely impressed with the level of knowledge and expertise in electrical work. They were able to explain in great detail, without hesitation what exactly needed to be done. I would highly recommend this company to anyone needing electrical work.
I called this establishment a few months ago requiring emergency service. They advertise about how professional and they are all about customer satisfaction but the two gals I talked to were extremely rude and it was an obvious representation of the ownership of this business. They kept on giving me the run around while I was going through a very stressful situation. I was on the phone with them being transfered back and forth at the end of all these questions I was asked I was told they were having issues with technicians and could not send someone until the next day knowing from the beginning of the phone call I needed someone immediately. I even offered to pay extra for emergency service. I decided this was not the type of business that deserved my money.
Had some work done by them about 1 year ago. When the lighting stopped working again, they came out to see if it was their issue. They were able to get it working again easily. Now it has stopped a third time. Kira at the office has been helpful and understanding, explaining the repairs/services and getting a technician out for one more look. It is nice to have someone take time to explain the issue, understand where the customer is coming from and compromise.
They came out the look at a bathroom fixture that didn't work and a light socket I thought was broke (it wasn't) The Electrician makes you choose from a price list. $363 to troubleshoot!! Took him about an hour to fix. He even charged an added fee for a new bulb! This is more than my attorney per hour! I'm In the wrong business! Sheesh!
Point Loma Electric was very friendly and came the morning that I called. They came within the hour and were very helpful. Don and Mario knew exactly what they were doing and were done within fifteen minutes. I would recommend everyone to use this company. I only had a minor issue, but they also showed me what to do if it happened again. Great service.

Jim of Point Loma Electric did a terrific job on my residential project. Even though the old wiring presented a challenge, Jim found a great way to get the job done and the results were better than I expected. Jim was courteous, professional and clearly very skilled. I'd recommend him anytime!

Pt. Loma electric is fantastic although a bit pricey. I had them trouble shoot an electrical problem that another electrician was unable to figure out. Jim took on the challenge with gusto and wouldn't quit until he figured it out. While he was at it, he fixed a few other odd wiring issues I've had in the house for years. He's a straight shooter who really cares about the quality of his work. A real gem!

An Absolute con man. He tried to swindle my mother out of almost $1000 dollars and threatned her with a lawsuit or lien against her house. Little did he know, she used to be a practicing litigator and man did he told whats up. None the less avoid this scam artist at all costs!
I have had them to my home twice this past yr. They arrived on time, both times each of the tecq's. were knowledgeable, fast and efficient. Did not mind answering any question regarding work. Its nice to call a business and talk to the owners, they are 'service' oriented, and their workers reflect their professional attitude.
