We knew for years that we needed to bring our electrical panel up to code and when we got an electric car and needed a charging station, we finally couldn't put it off any longer. I'm so glad we hired Micah for the job. The entire panel had to be relocated and in order to meet all of the code requirements, it was a bit of a Rubik's cube operation. Luckily for us, Micah worked tenaciously to find creative solutions, communicated and coordinated with city inspectors and PG&E on our behalf, and ended up making the whole complicated project completely frictionless for us.

His crew was fast, efficient, and kept us informed about what was going on so we could plan around the work. This was so appreciated since they needed to turn off the power and we had 3 people doing work and school from home during COVID.

Micah Electric will be our go-to electrician from now on and we highly recommend him to others!

Our garage kept tripping our breaker. Last week we were at the door of the garage when the power went out. My husband when you turn the breaker back on and that's when I heard sparks and saw a pop of light. The wiring from the house to the garage was worn. So I bought a bunch of Lutron Caseta wall switches because I wanted to automate my switches. The Lutron videos and the YouTube videos made it seem like changing out the switches would be simple for a person with no electrical experience, it wasn't.

I called Micah, he changed out 6 switches within an hour. He let me know that the 3 way and 4 way switches needed the Caseta remote. He capped off the wiring for those switches and let me know how to install the remote when I get them. My garage GFCI outlet kept failing and Micah changed that also. Micah did a great job and I'll definitely be recommending him!

Micah and his crew are friendly, easy going, responsive, and described everything that needed to be done to get to step one... & then to step two. They needed to cut out a part of the ceiling on the lower level to get access to the the space between the floors and they were very fast, efficient and had a minimal impact. They were clean, took steps to protect the space from dust and debris and cleaned up afterward.

Unfortunately our wiring problem is waaay more complicated than anticipated. The damage was done by rats that wreaked havoc on the wiring of an old house on a steep hill, and there's no visible access to the wires at many points. And in spite of the difficulty of assessing the extent of the damage, or the best road to repair, Micah has been incredibly patient, kind, and generous about all of it. I highly recommend him, hopefully only for projects that are less of a nightmare than this one.

Micah and his crew are fantastic. We initially hired him to inspect our attic wiring, and learned we had many electrical issues (illegally tapped wires, old knob and tube wiring, etc.) so we hired him to upgrade our home.

The job ended up being bigger than expected, but that's because the more work they did, the more issues they discovered that were ignored or hidden by previous owners. Whenever he discovered a new issue, he'd walk us through it the problem, how he was going to fix it, and what our options were. His pricing was also pretty fair for the area, and he can work within your budget (e.g. fixing the biggest problems first and addressing smaller things later).

At one point, they accidentally drilled into one of the floorboards in a room, but without being asked to do s, Micah hired a flooring specialist that promptly came and replaced the affected floorboard at no cost to us. The floor likes fine and you can't even tell where it happened now.

He also came on short notice recently when we woke up with no power. Turns out it was a manufacturer's error with our circuit breaker panel, so he fixed it at no cost!

Our house now has modern, up-to-code wiring and we can rest easy. Would definitely hire Micah again for any electrical needs!

Absolutely outstanding. I had another electrician who could not figure out what was going on with my lights. I had a feeling it was a dangerous situation as nob and tube were involved and the house was sloppily flipped when I purchased it. Micah took the time and found out the issue on his first visit. He doesn't do a free estimate, but the money is totally worth it. He goes the extra mile and when he found the problem, he fixed it with his awesome team really quickly. Micah just finished rewiring my house in Berkeley; it started out as a medium-sized project to remove the last of the knob-and-tube in the house, but as he and his team progressed, they found more and more non-code-compliant things that the previous owners' electricians had done, and Micah fixed everything. They ended up putting in a new subpanel, rewiring the connection between the main panel and the subpanel, adding AFCI breakers, removing knob and tube in four rooms, adding several new receptacles where none had been, installing new light fixtures, fixing multiple broken/missing GFCI's, and generally cleaning up a huge mess of wires and cables underneath the house, some of which were apparently pretty serious fire hazards.

He and his team did high-quality work, showed up on time, and dealt gracefully with the madness that is the Berkeley Building and Safety department.

The only possible cons I'll mention:

* Micah (like every other good electrician in the Bay Area) is backed up a pretty long time, so we ended up waiting something like four weeks between when we signed the quote and when he could start.

* All of the extra problems discovered turned this one-to-two-week estimated project into a three-plus-week project (and increased the cost by 40%). In an ideal world, those would have been discovered before work started. In an even more ideal world, the previous electricians wouldn't've screwed so much stuff up, though. *shrug*

I'd definitely recommend giving Micah a call for electrical work. Micah completely handled the electrical work needed for my bathroom and kitchen remodel, and also upgraded all of my garage lighting. All of the work was done to code and was really cleanly set up.

There are several things that make Micah Electric a good choice. 1) Micah is super approachable and happy to talk through what your needs are and also kinda guide you in the right direction. 2) He is good at what he does and thorough. 3) He is punctual and always stuck to the schedule that he calendared for us. 4) He is trustworthy and is a straight shooter.

I am not one to normally leave reviews, but for this job I feel compelled to share my experience. I found scheduling with Micah to be quite easy and pleasant. The jobs I showed him were pretty straightforward, and he sent me a clear estimate, which I approved.

Micah finished the work to my satisfaction but I felt like he gave me attitude when I asked simple questions about the work. He accidentally drilled through a water pipe -- which I completely understood because accidents do happen-- But when the job took longer than he previously planned for because of this, he gave me attitude when I asked when he estimated to be finished that day, and commented that it had caused him to miss another job, like it was somehow my fault. I felt for charging me hourly there was not a lot of hustle. And at the end of the day I ended up paying way more than the estimate, and I felt like the value wasn't there. I think if he had had a more pleasant attitude throughout I would feel differently.

Maybe I caught him on an off day. But as a first time single female home-owner I feel compelled to share to anyone like me looking for an electrician.

Micah is awesome, I love that he texts me back so quickly. We've used him on about 5 different homes for work and he is our go to electrical vendor. He always gets it done for us and does it quickly. First off Micah was great at getting back to me whenever I reached out.

He texted, called and kept me updated while he was trying to squeeze me into his existing schedule. While he couldn't sneak me in same day, he did get me on his schedule the next day and even called to see if he could come earlier than scheduled.

The work he did was great, digging into an old electrical system that has had some upgrades and advising on what needed to happen to get power back up and what should happen to get up to code.

Finally, when we discovered later that night that one of the old transformers in the house was causing an odor/heat, he was back on site within the hour to resolve the issue!

Micah installed my level 2 EV charger in my garage. Micah responded quickly to my request for work. He was on time and finished the work quickly. Micah is an extremely honest, trustworthy and thorough electrician. I had him redo the (old) wiring for the entire lower flower of my house, including a bedroom and bathroom. He removed all the old knob and tube wiring, replaced the light switches and fixtures in the bathroom, and upgraded all the sockets. During the process he always informed me of what was happening and what my options were, so I could choose the right amount of work for my budget. During the process of fixing my electrical issues, he also found and promptly fixed a bad vent which saved me the future headache of water moisture intrusion to the upper floor. Thanks Micah!

I reached out to Micah because I am getting A/C installed at my house, and my HVAC contractor indicated that I needed to find out if my electrical panel was sufficient to add a dedicated circuit for the new air conditioning. Without even coming to my house, Micah asked me to send photos of my electrical panel. He then asked me several questions about whether I have gas or electric dryer, stove, water heater, and furnace, and whether I planned to add an electric car charger or hot tub. He let me know that I would probably be fine with my current electrical panel for adding the A/C. But, he said that I would need to upgrade the panel if I wanted to add any additional electric appliances. I really appreciate his knowledge, honesty, and the fact that he took the time to give me his professional opinion without charging me and even though I have not hired him to do any work. I will certainly hire him if I do need to upgrade my panel in the future or do any other electrical work. Great customer service!

I had contacted Micah, along with a number of other electricians via Yelp, to fix the wiring in a blown bathroom outlet. I ended up going with him because I found him to be both efficient and friendly on Yelp and over text / e-mail, with a rate in line with other initial estimates. In person he was exactly the same, willing to take the time to answer questions and provide a few assessments, which I really appreciated. The outlet repair would have been a very small job by his standards, but he was diligent and thorough, and the outlet has held up great since then. I'd absolutely reach out to him again in the future for any additional electrical work I might need.

I woke up this morning with all the power out in my apartment. No heat, no lights, no fridge, no stove, NOTHING. It really threw a wrench in my plans for the day.

I called a few electricians off of Yelp and felt like they weren't being 100% straightforward in their approach. I kept searching, found Micah Electric via Yelp.

I called him and he answered right away. He was straightforward about his process, pricing, and the exact timing he could arrive to my place. After our initial call, he asked me to text him some follow up information and pictures, which I did. From there, he was able to ask me more questions to help me quickly diagnose and resolve the issue.

Micah and his team are excellent! We had been looking for a good electrician for sometime and are SO grateful to have finally found MJS Electric. They replaced our two main electrical panels which were quite out of date, repaired light fixtures and electrical plugs that hadn't worked in years, and installed an exterior plug connected to an interior switch that we are absolutely delighted with. While visiting my parents, I discovered that a series of their lights didn't work. After checking all the breakers it looked like a breaker needed to be replaced. Due to the age of the house, I didn't feel comfortable to replace the breaker myself.

I call Micah Electric to see if they could swing by while I was at my parents house. Since he was booked he gave me the name of an associate he thought might be available. Before letting me go, he asked me to describe the lights that were not working. When I mentioned that one of the lights and plugs was in the bathroom, Micah asked if i had checked the GFI switch. I hadn't - should have. Once I reset the GFI, the lights and plugs worked.

Thank you very much Micah! Instead of just telling me you were not available, you helped we determine what was wrong and how to fix it. You made my day and allowed me to spend my day with my parents instead of finding an electrician!

Appreciate the help. If I still lived in the Bay Area, I would use Micah Electric for all my electrical needs and recommend anyone who lives he to given them a call when needed.

I found MJS on Yelp. Once again, the reviews were spot on.

Micah was prompt returning calls and scheduling was easy. He even sent an estimate ahead of the appointment, which was a nice touch and rarely done these days.

I had three outdoor lights to replace. He showed up within the promised window of time with an impressive arsenal of tools and parts ready to rock.

Really nice guy - reasonably priced, skilled and efficient. I am very happy with Micah's work and would not hesitate to recommend him.

Some of our electrical outlets had stopped working. I had switched our breakers off and on but that didn't work. I called Micah Electric and he walked me through getting them back on over the phone, at no charge! He could have come up to the house and charged me an arm and a leg for something simple. Our dining room lights went out suddenly and we discovered that the wiring configuration was a bit unusual. Having tried resetting the breaker and GFIs, we couldn't determine the problem. Called 3 other 5 star electricians, but Micah responded quickly and was able to see us the same morning. Very fortunate for us because when Micah investigated and discovered the source, it was a fried outlet which possibly would've caused severe damage if not a fire. He was quick, efficient, and quite friendly. I would use him again should any electrical need arise.
