Pretty simple and straightforward job of installing an exterior NEMA outlet with a locking cover for a level 2 EV charger on our ADU, utilizing a pre-existing (and unused) dryer outlet on the interior.
Dave was on time for the initial examination and estimate and was very professional.  
He arrived within the time window allotted to do the actual work and did a great job.
He was referred to me by my neighbor across the street and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him for your electrical needs.

If I have an electrical project, Dave's my guy. So far, I've hired him a couple of times and my experience has been great. He's installed my security doorbell and put in a new electrical outlet in my garage.

My house was built in the '40's and due to that these type of projects are never simple. Dave's extremely competent and knows what he's doing. I trust him. He's also very responsive and reliable. An added bonus, he's a cool guy that's fun to chat with.

I called Dave with Blue Line Electric yesterday, and he was able to come out the next day and resolve the electrical problem.
He addressed all my questions clearly and concisely.
Very professional; the price point was in line with other local electricians.

I had an issue with what I thought was my circuit overloading. I spoke with Dave on the phone and provided preliminary details. He had an assumption that it was an issue w/ my circuit breaker and not an overloading issue. He swung by a few days later to diagnose the situation and his assumption was correct.

He went to home depot to get the right circuit breaker and the my electricity has not gone out since. I highly recommend Dave for any job you might need. He was very knowledgeable and even taught me a thing or two. He is a one man show so he may not pick up the phone right away. But if you shoot him a text he'll definitely get back to you.

Not only did he quickly diagnose the issue but he was also very friendly!

Dave is incredible!  After a brief absence we came home to find our refrigerator completely shut down.  I called Antonio Moralez from Tony 2 the Rescue.  He very quickly assured me that it wasn't a problem with the refrigerator but with the electrical connection.  I then called Dave at Blue Line Electric.  He came and quickly and correctly diagnosed the problem.  Problem was an improper wiring that was done 25 years ago when we did a kitchen remodel.  He quickly corrected the wiring problem and had the system buttoned up and running within one hour.  I can't say enough about Blue Line and Tony 2 the Rescue, they are both locally owned (San Leandro) and very competent.

I had decided to add some lights to a room that didn't come with any. In doing so I was able to wire everything up but the switch. I found Blue line through reference on Nextdoor and am very thankful I did. Nothing but professional and punctual. Dave made himself available quickly and was able to take care of everything with relative ease in the same day. He was also very fair in terms of pricing. You get what you pay for and with Dave that's quality. Very satisfied with the work and will definitely be reaching out to him again on future projects.

I just bought a condo but the bedrooms, living and dining rooms had no hardwired lights. Dave met with my dad, who really liked him off the bat -- he had good ideas and told us not to bother with a few things, or wait and see and we can add it later. He was super reasonable with his pricing as compared to everyone else we got bids from. He did really great work, was fast and conscientious about cleaning up. Great experience and will use in the future.

Breaker popped wouldn't turned back on. No lights in kitchen, bathroom, living room and washroom outlet, forch porch light out. Called at opening left message returned call right away and came out within hour. Found a short, replaced breaker and checked and replaced several outlets. Explained everything he was doing as he went. Fair price, great work. Will definitely use him again.

I needed to update my electrical panel since my house was built in the 50s. I received several estimates from local contractors before my wife and I decided to select Blue Line. They were extremely professional and laid out the options and timeline very clearly. They also were able to coordinate with PG&E and the city of Oakland permits.

I was very pleased with the work and the price. They were not the least expensive but they performed excellent In line with the estimated cost and timelines.

I strongly recommend Blue Line Electric for anyone who has minor or major electrical projects.

I highly recommend Dave of Blue Line Electric Company.   This was our 2nd time using him.  He was so good the first time, so we called him again.  We needed him to investigate and provide an estimate on the entire electrical grid of our house.

He arrived 2 minutes early.  Very prompt.  Had a mask on and everything.

I can't say enough about Dave.  He's extremely intelligent, resourceful and gave clear explanations for everything.  Had great ideas & opinions.

We tried to pay him for his time, but he said no.  He did the estimate for free.

I would not hesitate hiring him every time.

The most wonderful, honest, knowledgeable and helpful electrician ever! Dave helped us once with our back patio lighting that my husband had started. Dave called back right away to schedule our appt, was on time for arrival and was so knowledgeable to find where we went wrong and fixed our problem right away.
Almost a year later, we started having trouble with a back patio outlet. Dave again called right back and came over to assess our problem, and decided this is something we could fix just as easily ourselves and talked my husband through it. Zero charge for the visit or the advice. When we started having problems again with that same outlet, not only did he call us back on a SUNDAY when he's not working (though I did say my husband was trying to do it himself with YouTube), he was again able to talk my husband on the phone through the issue (turned out to just be a kinked wire). You won't find a more honest, knowledgeable and experienced electrician than Blue Line Electric. We are incredibly grateful to have found him!

I used Blue Line electric recently and had a very great experience. Dave was timely in responding to my request and in providing a quote. His rates are reasonable and similar to other quotes I received. Dave was able to schedule me quickly and did a great job installing a couple of new light fixtures in my home (with mask on!). Dave was very responsive, honest and came over half an hour after our phone call. The outlets in one side of my living room and bedroom were not working. Dave identified and fixed the problem outlet, which slowly burned out over time and we didn't know. The other outlets are now working fine. We'd highly recommend Dave and Blue Line Electric! I can't recommend Dave at Blue Line Electric highly enough.  He was available to visit and give a quote within a couple days of my call, and then available to do the job in 2 days, a week or so later.  His quote for a line taken via trench out to the garage, multiple outlets and fixtures installed, and a motion sensor light installed was fair, and in the middle expense range.  He did an impeccable job, was super responsive and was a pleasure to work with.  About a month later, a question came up regarding the work he did.  He was out to my house in about 30 minutes free of charge to take a look and get me back on track.  With Blue Line Electric you'll get professional, reliable work.  I couldn't be happier.  Thanks Dave!

I don't like writing negative reviews, but I have to on this one. I am a real estate agent with a home listed for sale. The buyer wants the electric panel replaced, as it is old and potentially dangerous. I did as my client requested and sought out an estimate for getting it replaced. Calling inspectors, contractors and other service providers is a routine, almost daily part of my service. Sellers don't necessarily have the time, knowledge or network to seek out their own service providers. I called Blue Line, and the owner said, 'I'm sorry, I don't work with Realtors. Tell the owner to call me.' I don't know if he's had bad experiences with Realtors, but in 15 years in the business, I've never met a service provider who did not work with Realtors. In fact, many rely on us for business referrals. So, I don't know how good of an electrician this guy is, because he wouldn't work with me.

I've worked with Dave on at least a half dozen projects and the quality of his work is impeccable.  He's installed many of the lighting fixtures in my home -- not an easy task, given that I have very high ceilings in my house.  I highly recommend Blue Line Electric without reservations or caveats of any sort.

Dave and his helper did an excellent job installing and running a 50A from our main panel to our garage where he also installed the Tesla car charger.  He's licensed, very professional, personable, prompt, and reasonably priced.  He shows on time when said he would and finished the job early. We have a couple more minor projects for him. After speaking with a few electricians, Dave is our choice and our to-go-to electrician from now on.

I called several electricians to get a quote for advising me on my electric job that i wanted to do myself.  Dave was the only one who took time to ask specific questions about what i wanted to do, and he even gave me some tips before i scheduled anything.  Come time for the appointment, Dave came right on time, and showed and taught me everything I needed to do to get my job done correctly.  Worth every penny!

Dave - was here to replace two light fixtures for us.  He quoted us about an hour barring any unforeseen complications.  It took him exactly an hour :-).  Once he removed the first light he found a possible issue and warned me about as well quoted me what the extra time would be but it wound up not being an issue.

His work was quick, clean, efficient and professional.  I have since recommended him to two other people that asked me who I used to have the work done.

Dave is by far the best of anyone I have hired to work in my home. I hired him for multiple lighting and electrical work, starting over a year ago, and am still happy and beyond satisfied with his work. He is very professional, asking all the right questions about the job, never charged more than his quote/estimate, shows up at scheduled time, explains what he's doing in a friendly way. All of my lights, etc are still beautiful and work perfectly.

I would definitely hire Dave at Blue Line again. After the first job and seeing how stress-free it could be hiring an electrician, I targeted the worst lighting situations in my house and updated them. Dave helped me find less-costly stuff that I could order online by writing down the specs I needed (yes, you can get pretty nice lights even chandeliers at amazon and home depot!). One thing I have to admit, I was shocked at his cost (or any electricians cost?) the first time I hired him, however - he does quality work that I found worth every penny! The whole reason anyone hires a professional is because they have the training, tools, experience that the average homeowner is not likely to have, plus he's up on current codes and works very safely.

I was just writing a review for a great plumber and it occurred to me that I've never written a review for the best electrician I've ever used.

Let me repeat that. The BEST electrician I've ever used.

Between the house and the coffee shop I used to own, and remodels done at both, I have interacted with many, many electricians, plumbers, etc.

Dave of Blue Line Electric is by far the best electrician we have ever used.

He is polite, communicates clearly, has done a spectacular job of figuring out electrical problems quickly and efficiently that other electricians had completely given up on. He does fantastic work and is reasonably priced.

Saved me - I couldn't get my garage door open and no manual vault! Trapped  

He picked up my desperate call at 7AM in the morning. He came when I asked him to and he fixed my problem without any problems. Cheaper than expected. He listened to my crazy talk for 10 min, humored my animated panic and pleas. Then he calmly did what he needed. Tested, fixed, and was out within an 1 hr. He had the right breaker in his van, because our house had an older panel that required special parts that would take days if purchased online.

Great attitude, great price, and fast service with flexible timing!

Dave did a great job with installing a ceiling light and a dimmer switch in a bedroom. He was efficient and a took the time to explain the extra precautions that he took to make sure that the ceiling light was secure. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for an electrical job to be done!

I called Dave based on the review here on Yelp!  Could not be happier with his professionalism and hard work.  Had dead outlets and a funky kitchen light.  He fixed one outlet that took care of the entire room, and the kitchen lighting could not be any brighter.  Educated me more about my new house!!

I called him again today, for repeat business.  He was up front of what work had to be done, tied it in line with the work that I wanted to get done and put it all in perspective with the current Code.  Looking forward to him starting on that job on Monday.

Flexible hours. Reasonable prices. Very professional!

Dave is the Real Deal. Very honest. I had a electrical problem in my house and half of my lights worked and the other half didn't also several outlets didn't work either . Called Dave and he asked me to do some troubleshooting before he got there. I already confirmed that it was Not a tripped breaker. Dave arrived promptly on schedule. He had my problem fixed within 10mins. Awesome.
This guy knows his stuff. He also advised me of some GFI sockets that need to be replaced in my kitchen. Which I can do myself. Thanks.  5 Star Guy.

I cannot express how lucky we are to have Dave nearby!

We bought a home in San Leandro a few months ago and needed an electrician to ground our electricity (older home) before our cable company would install the TV and Internet we can't live without. We searched Yelp and found Dave and since then, we called upon Dave again this past week to update the wiring and lamp in our garage, plus install a motion-detector light. Everything looks and runs like a charm!

Dave is beyond professional. He:

a) has a personality (gave us a great tip on a restaurant to try...which we did! And it's delicious!)
b) does impeccable work and cleans the space when he is finished
c) sets himself apart by being fair and direct!

Example: We asked him to provide an estimate to install a ceiling fan -- he actually asked to look at where we wanted to place it before quoting a price. He checked out the crawl space, if we had enough support to hang it, etc. And in the end, he actually suggested NOT using an electrician for the job and instead considering an attic fan.

Without any hesitation, 5 stars.

We're already trying to find other projects we need help with! ... I think a timer for the porch light might be next!

Ed at Bonafide Plumbing recommended Dave and glad he did. It was a Saturday and we received a message that our gas range being delivered a couple days early which was first thing on Monday morning. I forgot we'd need our 240v from our electric range walked down to 120v. Called Dave on Saturday afternoon and he called back within an hour and said he could be here Monday at 10am, which is what time I told him the range was being delivered. He showed up at 10am SHARP, installed the 120v in our kitchen and even fixed a couple of things that weren't even a part of the job. He didn't mention it, but I knew he was doing some extra stuff for free. He also gave me some advice and explained some electric stuff to me so I'd have a better understanding out how stuff works in my home. Great guy, honest, timely and reasonable rates.

As a matter of fact, I have him coming back to do some wiring in the garage.

Dave at Blue Line Electric is an exceptional electrician. I called him with an off hours emergency and he was very responsive and went out of his way to help us. We had a complicated issue with our electricity which resulted in a near complete power outage to our home for weeks. Two previous PG&E technicians had informed us that it was not a PG&E issue, but Dave was quickly able to determine what the problem was and that, in fact, it was a PG&E issue. He came back to our home to meet with a third PG&E technician to make sure that they did their job this time (though I must say the 3rd PG&E tech was wonderful and went out of his way to help us). It was invaluable to have him here speaking with the technician on our behalf. I cannot state enough how amazing Dave was, he is extremely honest, and his rates are entirely reasonable. He went far above and beyond what most would do. And while he was at our home, we had neighbors telling us what good hands we were in, as they only use him for their electrical needs. I can't thank you enough, Dave. I have recommended you to anyone and everyone that I can.

Without a doubt, Dave is one of the most professional electricians I have ever encountered.  Dave gave us a reasonable and complete estimate for recessed lighting at our home in Pleasanton and explained in detail the process of getting the job done during the estimate process.  Another company wanted to charge us $69 as a fee for an estimate.

He worked with us to arrange the job quickly and on our schedule and called us the night before to confirm his arrival.  On the day of the job, he was right on time, well prepared with all his tools and materials, and did a very professional job that we are very happy with.  He even went the extra mile and checked with us during the course of the job to ensure that we were happy with his layout of the lighting.  Moreover, he was meticulously clean during the work and even tidied up his work area prior to leaving.

All in all, highly recommended - will definitely call Dave when an electrician is needed!

Thanks to the reviewers here on Yelp, I found Dave at Blue Line Electric to help fix the electrical problem at my friend's house in Hayward. Half of the power in the house was out but the circuit breakers did not trip. I had suspected the recent rains might have damaged something in the outside main circuit box.

Dave showed up an hour after we called. Sure enough, water had been leaking into the outside circuit box and corroded the wires. He was thorough with the troubleshooting process and equally thorough with the fix: tightening loose connections, sealing holes to prevent future leaks, replacing ruined parts. He willingly answered questions and we learned a lot from him! Reasonable rates and professional, competent service.

By the way, Blue Line Electric is a California licensed electrical contractor and Dave is current on the local building codes. We felt very lucky to find him and, yes, the power's back on and all is working fine again.

We had an outstanding experience with Dave!  He was on time and reliable.   He quoted a fair price and completed the work without any complications.   He was very knowledgeable with troubleshooting our motion detector light and fixed the problem.  Since then, we have used him several times and each experience has been notable.

We couldn't be happier with the work performed by Dave from Blue Line Electric.  We have a 100 year old home, some of the electric wiring is original, and various non-electrician homeowners have updated in creative ways.

We called him because the electricity in two bedrooms went out. My husband and father-in-law worked on troubleshooting the problem all weekend and couldn't figure it out, so we knew it was going to be tough. Dave quoted us a very reasonable price to come out and fix it, and said he wouldn't charge at all us if he couldn't fix it.  
He came in 30 minutes (we were just happy to have someone answer their phone).  

Dave worked for over 5 hours, without giving up, in hot (attic) and frustrating conditions.  The entire time he was cheery and friendly.

He troubleshooted the problem and ended up fixing a loose connection in an electrical box, that was on a neutral side of the iine (making it very difficult to locate.)

We found him extremely knowledgeable.  It was a pleasure to talk with him and have him in our home.  Couldn't be happier. We ended up paying  him more money than he charged us.

The best electrician ever! I called Dave at Blue Line Electric because I was experiencing intermittent power outages to my kitchen outlets. He came within 30 minutes to do a Trouble-Shooting, for which he quoted a very reasonable flat fee and spent almost 2 hours testing various things in the house (including crawling up in the attic) on that first day.

Because the outages were intermittent, our trouble-shoot was a very challenging task, to say the least. Dave spent a lot of time I can't say enough how patient and diligent he was.

Dave came to the conclusion that it had to be a problem with PG&E's line coming from the power pole across the street. He refunded the trouble-shooting fee and wrote a detailed explanation of everything he did and what he believed was the problem so that I could explain everything to PG&E or another electrician if I needed to go that route.

PG&E finally came and replaced all of the connections on the power pole and I believe the problem is now fixed (fingers crossed!). Nearly one week and no power outages.

Bottom line: Dave is extremely honest, knowledgeable (took lots of time to answer questions and explain what he was doing) fair and personable! He treats his customers like family, going above and beyond to help you. Not something you see everyday!! Highly recommended for any electrical job. You won't be disappointed!

I highly recommend Dave. We had a pretty large job on an old condo we're redoing. He explained the alternatives in an understandable way. He is easy to talk with about what's going on and what needs to be done.

I had today off and I wanted to find an electrician that could install a ceiling fan. I called 4 companies that had 3 1/2+ yelp stars, one hung up on me, one said I lived too far - I live in San Leandro and he is in Pleasanton (16 miles away) one never called me back.  Dave called me back with in 20 mins. He gave me a quote but said since the first fan that my landlord installed fell out of the ceiling he would look at the wiring and what went wrong and he may have to walk away and do nothing if he felt it was unsafe. If that was the case he wouldn't charge me anything.  He said he would be here at 1:00 and he was here exactly at 1:00.  He looked at the wiring and the electric box that my landlord put in and told me he would be able to continue.  Instead of just mounting the fan and leaving he read the installation instructions that came with the fan (Hunter is the brand) and even called Hunter for clarity on something that was missing from the instructions.  When Dave was done he set up the remote made sure all the functions on the fan worked. Then he cleaned up the mess, made sure I had the instructions and told me to keep the box the fan came in in case I needed to return it.  He also mounted the remote on the wall for me and made sure I knew how to use it.

We've called Dave twice.

The first time he showed up within 30 minutes and fixed a thorny internet connectivity issue.

The second time Dave showed up within an hour, on a Friday night.
On this visit he fixed a living room light switch problem.

Both times, he completed the job within 40 minutes.  

Both times Dave charged us a very reasonable amount that we were happy to pay.

Dave is easy to reach and work with.  He is prompt, professional and on time.  He brings the tools and parts he needs with him to every job.

Dave is the only person we call for electrical.

We just moved into an older house where our dryer plug didn't match up with the wall socket.  My Realtor referred me to one guy who came out and wanted to rewire my entire subpanel which would have started at $$$$...plus getting a permit from the city and possibly having pg&e shut off the power for a few hrs.

I came here and found Dave and decided to call after hearing all the good reviews.  I'm so glad I did.  Long story short, Dave is exactly how the others have described him here.  He fixed my problem in the same day for a fraction of the cost of the first guy.

Definitely recommended and I'm gonna tell my Realtor to use this guy instead.

We had a great experience with Dave.  We had to run a 240V line from our circuit breaker to our kitchen.  Because the kitchen was about 30 ft from the circuit breaker, it was not an easy job running the new wire through the walls.  

He was professional, prompt, and provided tons of details on the different wiring options and what he was doing.  It was an education.

Great service, and same day. Dave stayed until the problem was fixed. When he initially brought a new fire alarm/carbon monoxide alarm, he found it was the wrong one, and spent a great deal of time running around looking for the right one. Even though it took much longer than we anticipated, he kept to his quoted price.

As someone else noted, he cleaned up after himself.

We called this company to troubleshoot and change 3 electrical outlets to GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter), and also check an outside light that was not coming on.

Dave called, was courteous, and we made an appointment to come to the property.  He arrived on time as agreed.

However, after he looked at the job, he gave us an estimate of $500.  Don't know what the other reviewers that gave positive feedback paid for their work, but $500 for this particular job is way too much.  

Turned out the outlets did not have power because the fuse had tripped.  We reset the fuse and they worked.  And the outside light that would not come on, was just a loose wire.

The 3 GFCI's were $25.  So he basically wanted $475 an hour for labor!  That's how long it took to do the job.

Needless to say we found another licensed electrician that did the job at a reasonable hourly rate.

The main breaker in our panel would not reset a bit after noon on Sunday.  The first place I called from the yellow pages said it would cost $200 just for their guy to show up, coming from MANTECA 60 miles away (?),with a wait time of 3 hours.  I live in a blue collar neighborhood, I'm sure there are dozens of elctrical workers living within a 2 mile radius, and their guy drives an hour to get here?  The next place I called wanted $280, again, just to show up.  No thanks.

Then I did a google search, and found Dave, who  had forgotten had done work for us previously a couple of years ago.  On the phone, he asked me to do a bit of diagnostic, turning off all of the sub breakers first, to make sure the main was actually the problem.  It was.  I called back, gave him the news, and he responded that he would be here in 20 minutes.

20 minutes later, Sunday afternoon, Dave was here.  He found there had been arcing, unknown to us, on the main breaker and another one across from it, seriously burning some of the contacts.  Normally we would have needed a whole new box, but he reconfigured the existing and new breakers, to leave the damaged slots empty.  The whole process took about half an hour.  The bill came to $235 including parts, less than one place wanted just to show up.

About 2 years ago he troubeshooted and repaired some admittedly less than wonderful retrofit wiring in our bathroom, tracking down the wiring through the attic, figuring out what ran where, and made it all right.

I cannot say enough good about Dave.  Absolutely first rate.

$5,000 MINIMUM Dave.  When a tree fell and took out our electric service,  I called Dave. He was willing to come look at our situation, but he emphasized $5,000 minimum.  He stressed the word minimum.  

I was eventually referred to power and light, and mike solved our problem the same day for $1,100 including permit and meeting the City to guide them through the inspection.

Dave was great to work with.  He came out within a day or two to provide an estimate for a track lighting job which wasn't very simple.  His solution made sense, and his quote was reasonable.  He performed the job well, made no marks in the plaster wall or tongue & groove ceiling, and was very clean.  He also did one outlet job at T&M, and was also very efficient.  I would hire him again.

Dave did a fabulous job at my home today replacing 2 closet lights, the hallway fixture and the light over the kitchen sink. Since my home was built in 1936, I still used fuses and he recommended a better, safer way of doing it. He even spent extra time helping me figure out what ran on each circuit and explaining to me that I need to plan a way to keep up to 1750 watts on each circuit.

I called Dave based on all the great Yelp reviews and I must agree with all others that he is very talented, honest, efficient, hardworking professional and such a delight to work with. He has completely sorted out all the mess of home-made sub panel that was done by the previous home owners and organized and upgraded wiring in the utility room, installed a new light fixture and cleaned up the space so well that I could not believe it was the same room when I saw the result. His rate was very reasonable and he didn't charge anything more than quoted amount even though the scope of the work turned out to be much more, so I have paid additional amount as my token of appreciation. I would highly recommend him to anyone and will definitely work with him on any future projects.

Dave did a fantastic job on our house for a minor wiring upgade.  He was very prompt (showing up two saturdays in a row on the dot at 9am) and very knowledgeable as well.  He was more than happy to walk me through all the work he was going to do and take my input for the location of two new outlets.  He charged $300 for the installation of a 240v plug (exposed in the garage and with a short run of conduit) and another $150 to add a second 120v outlet.  Overall we were very happy with this work, speed, demeaner, and attentiveness.  I'd highly recommend him.

Remember those guys your parents would hire, that had integrity, honesty and did things the RIGHT way? Dave is one of those types of people. He came quickly, assessed the situation by doing a thorough evaluation of our home's circumstances. This then allowed him to install two outets and a new circuit without having to make a large hole in our 1920's plaster walls. He REALLY cared, as if he was working on his own home and gave me some good electrical guidance. He left here at 8:30 p.m. and that was on a Friday evening! Found myself without electricity in the kitchen due to a short circuit. Could not reset the gfci. Took the problem to Yelp. Was able to find Blue Line Electric in the East Bay with many positive reviews. Made the call and got an instant quote on the phone, and set an appointment for the next day.

Dave arrived on time for the Saturday appointment. He was polite, and had no problem following our house rule of no shoes. Asked a few more questions to isolate the problem. Then he went to work. Using his troubleshooting electronic fluke tools, the problem was isolated. He fixed the electric receptical that was working, but had a neutral short due to a bad connection.

Definitely would refer him to my friends...

For many years, I've used Yelp to read reviews on businesses but never have I thought about writing one myself. However, that day has changed when Dave and I signed a contract for an electrical panel upgrade project at our home.

Let me first say that Dave is very friendly, professional and very knowledgeable. Though his price was a little in the high side compared to other bidders, I now know why his price was what it was. He used good quality materials, upgrade panel to 200A instead of 125A, run wires in the crawl space, and his workmanship was excellent (even the inspector said so himself). The reason why running the wires in the crawl space important to me was because I did not wanted the wires to be exposed in the front of the house. Dave was the only person who said he would do that! One contractor said he would run the wires around the ceiling of the house, the other said if you want to save some $$, you can run the wires under the crawl space yourself. What the....for real? I'm giving you work buddy, not the other way around.

Upon knowing that Dave will do the work to the best of his knowledge and make sure that everything looks good, not to mention he guaranteed it to pass inspection, I now feel that it was worth every penny of the contract.

Thank you Dave for your service and the excellent work that you've provided. You'll be highly recommended.

Very rarely write reviews but Dave deserves it.  He really did an AMAZING JOB on our house.  I had a big list: 1) install wall outlets for 2 flat screen TVs 2) install 2 ceiling fans and 3) install 2 chandeliers. I was very nervous about the chandeliers since we would be cutting into our ceiling.  They were also Turkish chandeliers which, when Dave saw them, said we were really taking a chance.  They were not up to US code and might have caused a fire!  Anyways, Dave came by on the weekend, did a thorough analysis of our needs and whether or not we could do everything I wanted and gave us a very fair quote.  He came by about a week later and did everything with no issues.  He's a Pro!  He's also bonded and insured which was important for us.  If you're looking for an electrician, he should be your guy.

When having other home repairs done, a poorly placed electrical wire was damaged. No one in the neighborhood had a lead for an electrician. I called Dave, based on Yelp reviews. He adjusted his schedule to come out the same afternoon because we needed the outlets at night for medical issues. He located the problem and fixed a couple of other issues with outlets and the breakers. He explained what he was doing, while he was working. On his way out the door, he even took time to check the grounding on the outlet for the stereo equipment. He was very professional and knowledgeable. We would definitely call him again and refer others.

Dave is very responsive, thorough, agile and pays attention to detail. I had several outlets suddenly lose power on a single 20 Amp circuit with 1950's old-school wiring. Dave quickly mapped out the house wiring for  the compromised circuit, detected the specific outlet causing the failure (there were over 15). He diagnosed and repaired the faulty outlet and upgraded a few others all for his minimum diagnostic and repair fee. The job took a couple of hours and I learned a lot along the way. Dave's a good teacher.

I definitely recommend Dave and will contact him again for my home electrical needs without hesitation!

I searched on-line to find an electrician familiar with older homes. The Yelp reviews for Blue Line Electric (owner: David Zhu) were spot-on. David was prompt, courteous and knowledgeable.  Also, his estimate was very reasonable, and he stands behind his work for a full year.  David will prepare the estimate and do the work too!

I called David on the weekend and he came out right away on Monday.  After the walk-through,  David provided me with some recommendations on how to deal with the old-fashioned chain light switches in our closets (notorious for getting stuck or breaking), and what the problem might be with a set of indoor / outdoor switches and sockets.

He worked throughout the 3 1/2 hours, even with the wet conditions, and  showed me the parts he had replaced and explained how they were contributing to the problem.  He was thorough to the very end, leaving no trace of dust in the closets - another bonus.

I would highly recommend Blue Line Electric.

This man was so rude it left me dumbfounded.  He came over for a bid on extensive electrical work I needed for my kitchen remodel.  I had a list of 6 things I needed done and he asked me if he would be doing the electrical.  I replied Yes, that's why I called you.  He told me to calm down and I was like Huh?  I have no clue what in the hell his problem was. I contacted Dave at Blue Line .  After many questions he diagnosed the problem over the phone.  He said the problem with 90% certainty is where the PGE line enters house and to call PGE to save him coming out and me paying $125.   I had PGE come out and they corrected the problem with their line coming from the pole.  I am a very satisfied consumer.  Dave called later in the evening to see if the problem was corrected.  Great follow up customer service !

I really go off vibes and first impressions. I called left a message and didnt get a call back til a couple days later. When he called he was very abrupt saying well do you still need me when i really wanted to say HELL NAW not sounding like this calling days later, no im sorry for just getting back to you or anything (very unprofessional) So he ask me what i wanted done and then tries to give me over the phone quotes w/o even coming out. Telling me grounding is very expensive no one gets the whole house grounded and i charge $125 per outlet and that for trouble shooting he charges $125 a hour. Basically he didnt want to come out and even look so i heard it in his voice his response. Maybe its a cultural thing i dont know but i dont want to give my $$ to someone that dont even want to be bother. So i will continue looking for a electrician..FYI Dave GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE GOES A LONG WAY!

I called Dave to see if he could give me a quote for grounded (3-prong) outlets in my apartment. I rent, but was willing to pay for it. He arrived on time and looked around the place. Unfortunately, he said there were few options for me, as the apartment building is old and without major renovation work throughout the building (which the landlord will never do), he would not be able to do it. Even though he knew there was no job for him, he gave me a lot of information about the process, and explained how the grounding worked, and took time to talk about why its important to ground major equipment like computers. I'm sorry I wasn't able to use his services this time, but I'd recommend him to anyone else.

This company is FANTASTIC.  I've been looking for an electrician to do some small upgrades in our place for a while. for whatever reason, the search for contractors & electricians scare the buh-jezuz out of me!  Thanks to Yelp, I found Dave of Blue Line electric. Professional, courteous, knowledgeable Dave.  He upgraded some switches and light fixtures and put in a porch dimmer at a very reasonable cost, and even allowed me to pick his brain on kitchen lighting upgrades.  A recent debacle with a convection microwave which led to a no installation due to circuit issues led me right back to Dave.  I called him for a quote to fix our hood and he graciously swung by to assess and, once again, after giving some $ saving suggestions, gave a very reasonable quote for what sounds like a bitch of a job to get the microwave oven installed!  What I most like about him is that you can really tell he cares, knows his work, takes the extra time in explaining it to me (without making me feel stupid-- very important!) and provides enough information for you to make an informed decision.  on both jobs at my house, he made alternative suggestions on how to avoid a higher cost job, but seeing as we had our minds set on what we wanted, he still gave very reasonable quotes and did GREAT work. Came in  right on target with his quote, to the penny. Showed up on time, and left he place exactly as he found it. all cleaned up.

I would not hesitate to call Blue Line electric.  Dave is the best!

He showed up when he said he would, was courteous and professional, gave suggestions for outlet placement  that lowered my cost,  made sure I didn't order work I didn't need, gave me a decent price for the work I did need, did a great job, cleaned up after himself, and ffinished within the time period he said he would,  What more could you ask for?

I told him I wanted a plug outside on the patio. Instead of installing and charging for a new one, he looked all around and discovered a working plug hidden behind an overgrown climbing vine. I wanted a 3-prong plug for my glass kiln - he looked around, found a plug, checked to make sure it was grounded and could support the amps needed for the kiln. I thought I wanted a garbage disposal - he explained why it  would be expensive and that it  might make more sense to wait until I remodel my kitchen.  In all of these instances, he could have just done what I asked and made more money for himself and I probably never would have known. But instead he did what was best for me. How many people do you know who will give you advice that's better for you than for  them? Dave obviously cares about his customers and about running a good, honest business. I definitely will use him the next time i need electrical work done.

Not only is he a good electrician, he's a kind  person. When he and a colleague showed up to do the work on my house, i had just discovered that the ceiling in my office was leaking. I was waiting to hear back from the roofer (who had just inspected the roof a month earlier!),  and didn't know quite what to. They were kind enough to crawl up into my attic, find the leak, and place a bucket to stop the drip.  

I wish everyone I've dealt with since buying my house was as professional and trustworthy as Dave.

Dave from Blue Line Electric is what you could call a thoughtful electrician. He explains things. He checks out what he's done. For instance, when he fixed the electric outlet that ran some landscape lights, he didn't just check that the outlet itself worked, but he went down the line and checked the lights themselves, making additional fixes. I got an electrical education just listening to him. High recommendation.

Dave was great.  He was on time, gave us very good advice, his prices are reasonable and he is very knowledgeable.  We called him after another electrician wanted to totally redo our circuit box and wiring, in a 16 year old home.  It just didn't make sense, so we wanted a second opinion.  Dave assessed the situation, discussed it with us, we agreed with what he suggested, he fixed what was needed and we're good.  We'll absolutely call him back if we need electrical help, again

Dave was very honest! He did not try to attempt to gouge your for money, as other electricians i had come out for a repair were doing. He explained why the power went out and replaced the wire and switch, and explained everything before he did it, and while he was repairing it as well. He went above and beyond what we called him for and we would definitely recommend him to our friends and call him again!

The best service I had ever! My refrigerator had a weird problem that it shutdown itself from time to time. A technician from A&E checked the fridge and told me the problem came from the outlet. The hot and ground line might be reversed. So I called Dave base on all the excellent reviews on yelp. I told him what the problem was and he gave a reasonable quote. As he knew I am not available at weekdays, he came to my house in half an hour. After he tested the bad outlets, he opened panel box and found the problem right away, there were 4 neutral wires burned! He fixed that and also tightened all screws. This was not the end. When He noticed a smoke detector beeping, he replaced it and only charged me the material. I was extremely happy not only because he fixed the problem and avoid a potential fire disaster to my house but also because he is very knowledgeable and friendly. He explained everything to me while he was working. I highly recommend him if u need an electrician.
