J E Brown brought the backflows on our ancient boilers up to code, and I appreciated their pleasant professionalism .

They really know what they are doing, both in terms of their work and in dealing  city permits. .

We had a boiler issue and JE Brown arrived the next day after our call. The service men spent exactly 5 minutes examine the boiler and said that there was no problem. The next day the boiler still was not beating so we called a different plumber. They came out in 2 hr and within 5 minutes determined that our gas valve was not working. It was replaced and the boiler works perfectly again.
JE Brown charged us $150 for doing exactly nothing. We complained and received no response from them. What a ripoff!!

Great company. Great people, have use them for years for back flow testing, always on time and super efficient.

i really want to recommend JEBrown and all their associates and employees for the excellent service.  I have an unusual heating system and they seem to be the only company who can work with it. I have twice had to call on them to repair issues and both times they have been prompt, efficient, knowledgeable, courteous and friendly. I had no heat this time and a technician was able to come out to me within three days, was on time, very courteous, and solved the problem in less than half an hour.  Thanks so much to all in this company and especially to Dave who saved the day today. Very much appreciated.

Dave came out and repaired our old boiler and was very cheerful and efficient. He got the radiator fixed and it was easy to do. He had some good advice on how to manage this old system.

Just had one of the most unpleasant experiences with one of the drivers that works for this company. I was taking a right turn (at a red light) and did not notice a car coming. The driver clearly thought that I was attempting to cut them off as he buzzed by me, and aggressively swerved right in front of me while yelling at my car. He almost hit my car/ran me off the road in a residential part of sf. I followed him to see where he works as I noted that he was in a worker's van with writing on the side if it. He noticed me tailing him, slammed on the breaks, exited his car and screamed at me at the top of his lungs (to be clear he screamed his company's phone number at me! Made it all the easier to call his supervisor asap, thanks!). Cannot say that I will ever hire a company that employs people with rage issues. Cannot imagine how this guy deals with customers on a daily basis. I suggest that anybody who reads this else takes their business elsewhere as the employees here are clearly unprofessional and do not respect the fact that they are driving a car that is a moving billboard! Such a shame that this employee is so angry and vindictive...maybe they do good work! Get help, mental health is important!

J E Brown Co has been servicing my apartment building since 1993. They have consistently been professional and effective in their work, which has included the complete replacement of an ancient boiler and water heating system as well as doing the required annual inspections and anti-rust treatments to the steam piping.

Just was able to get Al on the phone after hours on a Saturday and he spent a good amount of time explaining the heating and water heating systems we have in the building and helping me understand the best course of action for a problem we are having. Thanks!

Willie is awesome!  If you have a tankless (AKA endless) water heater - Willie is the one to ask for.   I spent too much time searching for a qualified tankless water heater (I have 2 Rinnai water heaters) repair company.  I had a few companies who will remain nameless out to estimate my problem.  Everyone said they are experienced with tankless/endless water heaters, but they all lied - EXCEPT JE BROWN.  Willie came out and immediately I was confident he knew exactly what he was doing like it was second nature.  Willie was very polite and answered every question I had; he even removed his shoes at my front door.   What the other repair guys told me was going to be thousands of $$ turned out to be a one hour fix for about $100.  I highly recommend JE Brown, and Willie if you have any water heater issues.

Excellent boiler company (not too many companies out there that actually KNOW about hydronics and steam heat). Since they are a small shop they ONLY specialize in boilers and backflow testing.

The lady in the office is real sweet. The technicians are polite and knowledgeable. They do try to rescue your boiler before condemning it and trying to sell you a new one.

Reasonably priced compared to other companies.

I have been using this company for three years to service my boiler and every time things go very very smoothly. In the last six months I've had some things on my boiler that have needed to be repaired and they have been fast, efficient, and customer service is  polite and great with giving me information on what the repairs were. I have never been shocked by their pricing and will continue to use them in the future.

I've been working with this company for about 6 years. They are awesome! Easy to work with and they know what they are doing! We had been paying another more famous company thousands a year and the problems never ended. Started with J.E. Brown and things are going so much more smoothly.
