Don't always believe what you see on Yelp.

I received quotes from 2 different plumbers for fixing a faucet with low water pressure. They both had 600+ reviews and perfect 5 stars. Both of them said that I needed to replace the 2 angle valves and the $800 kitchen faucet that's only 5 years old because the rubbers from the blown out gasket ruined it. I noticed that neither of the 2 plumbers had photos of fixtures from KWC or Hansgrohe so I went to Guy plumbing to get their take.

Guy plumbing had a very quizzical look when I mentioned the diagnosis and said that they could probably fix it. Low and behold, they came out the next day, replaced the 2 angle valves and fixed the KWC faucet in 1.5 hours. The pressure's back and they also tightened the faucet, hot water dispenser, and soap dispenser-all of which were pretty loose. They have all the tools and parts are are extremely efficient. They also guide you through what they are fixing and show you what's wrong and why certain parts fail.

The shop manager Dominiq and their staff gives very warm welcome and thorough introduction of their products earned my total trust And they arrange service people ASAP

The plumber they send Dan did excellent job on our Toto toilet installation, he is not only very very professional also his altitude is so polite so patient and trustworthy. His charge is very very reasonable. He is the best plumber we ever had and I definitely will recommend him to anyone who need excellent service.

Dan also has a helper Glen who helped clean our sinks, he is also excellent who worked very efficiently and earn our trust.

Overall, we will have Guy plumbing do our future plumbing and heating work and they definitely deserve to get 5 star Honor.

Top notch, highly recommend. High quality work, excellent customer service, fair pricing, on time, and efficient, thoughtful work with great communication. He even took a moment to chill with my dog, who is an excellent judge of character :)

Had some shower valves replaced which also stopped a slow water leak.

Now had two separate calls with Guy and exceptionally happy. Both times Ron has done a complete job. Not just fixing the reported problems but making sure other connections are tight or replaced , seals are replaced, etc. Very happy with Guy Plumbing and will definitely call on again when needed.

These folks were very rude to my elderly mother over the phone. All we needed was her kitchen faucet replaced, and she was informed that A) they don't really do small jobs like that, and B) if they do, she'd have to buy the faucet directly from them. My parents have used Guy Plumbing for over 30 years, but no more. We'll be taking our business elsewhere from now on.

I was looking for a replacement spray head for my Hansgrohe faucet. After much online and phone back and forth, Hansgrohe support told me the part I needed for my out of warranty faucet didn't exist. I called Guy Plumbing and spoke to Casey, who confirmed instantly that the part I was looking for did indeed exist, and invited me in to compare my part to what they had on their floor models. Not only did they have the part, it was a significant upgrade from the all-plastic version that was originally on my faucet. In a few minutes, he had placed the order for me and set it up to ship to my home. Thanks for the outstanding customer service!

After a long hot summer the seasons finally changed and I cleaned out the furnace filter and tested to make sure it worked.

Then it did not even start the blower when I commanded it from my new thermostat.

Not good.

I called Guy Plumbing who had serviced my furnace from the previous owner and Allen Guy who replaced the ancient mechanical timer thermostat with a new easy programmable digital one told me he had enough spare parts to keep my furnace working for a few more years (saving me from replacement).

I called and made an appointment for Allen to come back out and see what was not working.

Of course when he showed up it did kick back ON!

Allen did verify the thermostat was working but had me replace the batteries and had the furnace go through a few start up and shut down cycles.

Now I am ready for winter and I was happy to know I did not have to replace the furnace!

Minor calamities arise at every business - the test is how they respond, and, for me, Guy Plumbing gets five stars.
The water pressure regulator at our house began to fail a week ago, causing slow water flow throughout the house. I made an appointment with Guy to replace the unit, but on the morning they were scheduled to arrive, Toby called to report that their employee was out sick and they had to cancel and re-book for next week.
Unfortunately, the pressure regulator had gradually deteriorated, reducing our water flow to a trickle. I explained to Toby that we were in a bit of a bind, and I'd really appreciate if they could keep me on the priority list in case of cancellation, but I resigned myself to a few more days of inconvenience.
Guy Plumbing called back a few minutes later - Toby had cleared a slot on his schedule and was on his way with a replacement valve. We were up and running 100% a couple hours later.
It's unpredictable when an employee can't make it to work, or when another calamity interferes with business-as-usual. But when the business owners and managers step up to fill in for employees out sick, you know they care about getting things right for the customer. So, thank you Toby!

Fantastic and speedy service when we needed it. Saved us hundreds of dollars. Requested service in the morning, and within 30 minutes had a plumber with the right part at our house masked and ready to go. Turned out our disposal had a screw lodged in it that we couldn't find. Just paid for a service call which was very reasonable.

I recently replaced all of my toilets to Toto washlets, and asked them to replace a shower head and faucets at bath tubs. The job done by Guy Plumbing was amazing. They responded very quickly and all of the jobs were done so accurately. Everyone at Guy Plumbing was well mannered and so kind as a person too.

Especially I'd like to give a special thanks to DAN who took care of my toilets and showers and faucets. He was the specialist!!!! Even though we asked him something which sounded very hard, he researched by himself and made our every wish come true. Very honest and kindhearted too.

I already recommended Guy Plumbing to at least ten of my friends! Great!

Have purchased 2 sinks over the years from Guys. Always happy with the products. In December we purchased 2 toilets and had them install as well. The man who installed them was very nice and we loved the new toilets. A couple of months ago one toilet was causing problems so I called Guys and they quickly came over and found it had a defective part. The plumber replaced the part with no charge for the visit. Again they were all very nice and said to be sure and call if anything else goes wrong. What a great place!

I've always wanted to hire Guy Plumbing & Heating because friends and acquaintances have recommended them.

Recently, our toilet tank was not filling up quickly. I was able to schedule an appointment for the following week. The service was amazing (from the scheduling to the job itself). I even shared pictures of the toilet and tank beforehand to ensure the service person would come with the proper parts.

Troy finished the job in 30mins (would have taken even less time but I was so curious and asked him a lot of questions). He replaced one rubber ring and the replaced another small part to the troubled toilet. Along the way, he explained what he was doing. Then without prompting, Troy offered to replace the ring and small part on the toilet in our second bath. He left me the packages so I know which part numbers fit my toilet since he saw that I was keen to learn (and potentially fix the issue myself the next time it happens).

An honest, professional business through and through. Would definitely hire Guy Plumbing & Heating again! Thank you!

Two thumps up!!! I called 8 AM to fix water heater and Glen came in 9:30 and spent just one hour to change controller and pilot system as well. Glen found out problem right away and called office to bring new controller to change and Dan came in 10 minutes. What a great people to work with!!

Glen also checked all the connectors and valves to make sure there is no leaking.

I strongly recommend to call Guy Plumbing & Heating for any of your needs!!!

I had two showers needing repair and contacted two plumbers before contacting Guy Plumbing - one wanted $150 just to come and take a look, the other literally came for one minute and wanted to tear into the wall and replace everything and quoted me $1300 for one shower. Guy Plumbing came out fast, fixed both for less than half as much. Honesty goes a long way.

10 stars if possible. We called because both our water heater and furnace went out on the same long holiday weekend. It turned out that Guy plumbing had installed the original units. One of the owners actually came out and fixed both of our units at the same time! On top of that they gave us a very reasonable rate. He also explained what he was doing and the typical failure points of both units. He was super personable, down to earth and open.

Highly recommended plumbing company especially if you have a high end product in your house. We were looking for someone to fix the Porcelanosa shower cartridge some companies refused to touch the product since they might break it. I was able to find Guy Plumbing and Dan easily fixed the shower cartridge. We are also planning to replace a toilet too.

We often do our own plumbing, but this job was more technical than we were up for. We did not have a plumber, so we asked for a suggestion on Nextdoor. Everyone said we should call Guy Plumbing and Heating. We were happy with them from start to finish.

We got an appointment withing 24 hours of our call. As the window approached, we received updates. When Eddie V. arrived, he was very professional and friendly. He gave us a fair quote, then he fixed our problem. He even left our bathroom very clean. We are very pleased with the job he did.

Excellent service for generations. Had an old Grohe kitchen faucet that I wanted to save though the handle, sprayer, and cartridge had failed. Most plumbers would have given up and said , buy a new one!

However, Troy came out and solved the issues. He worked extremely hard to remove the old cartridge...replaced the cartridge, handle and sprayer. The faucet has been born again...works beautifully.

I don't think many plumbing companies have staff that are knowledgeable, hard-working, and skilled enough to bring old fixtures back to life. Most would prefer to chuck the old and install new...a much easier fix.

Troy went above and beyond to resurrect my ailing fixture! Thank you once again, Guy Plumbing, for your prompt, efficient, beyond capable, and reasonable service.

Several months ago we needed our water heater replaced, Guy was great in coming to evaluate the problem and honoring COVID guidelines. Turns our our water heater was still under warranty and we only paid for the service call. A few months later, our kitchen sink was leaking. Again, the part was under warranty. We were able to install the part ourselves except for a minor snafu. Called Guy to get some helpful pointers and we fixed the sink ourselves. A HUGE shout out to the amazing woman who answers the phone -- her kind voice and calming nature makes one feel at ease. When we require a plumber again, I will certainly call Guy.

We called Guy plumbing for a minor toilet issue which would be within the one hour minimum service call. Troy came out and was able to fix it within 30 mins, instead of just leaving, he was asking whether if we want him to check on other issues. He checked on 2 other toilet, make a small adjustment on one and replace a rubber ring on the other to make sure we will not have future issues. Great guy, honest and very helpful. 3rd generation in the business and he said people even call them for other referrals. We are new in the area so this is very helpful ! Definitely will keep him as on my list. Only downside is they are packed so when we call on Friday, we have to wait till Tuesday before they can fit us in. Not their fault but just and FYI

I can't say enough good things about Guy Plumbing & Heating. I have had two emergency situations now and they have come through to save me in a pinch. The first situation was at my moms house and the water heater was shot and leaking everywhere. Home Depot had a subcontractor that was supposed to show up but didn't and Guy saved the day. The second time I broke a rusted out pipe in my bathroom which was leaking so I had to shut off the water to the house. I called an emergency 24hr plumber on Sunday and they couldn't help me until Monday. I schedule the appointment anyway, however when they showed up they wanted a stupid amount of money to fix it. I called Guy and they were able to save the day once again. Guy plumbers show up on time and I trust that they will charge me a fair price for the work. Thank you!

Last week I had a toilet badly in need of attention. It had clogged, and when I tried to plunge it myself, it overflowed all over the bathroom. Eww. I've never actually needed to call a plumber before, but I know when I'm out of my depth. So I turned to Yelp.

When I called they picked up right away. I explained the situation and they said they could have someone there within the next two hours. Hallelujah! In truth, a plumber and his helper/trainee arrived in less then an hour (with a phone call first to let me know they were on the way).

Fortunately they didn't even cringe at the disgusting situation in the bathroom, and got right to work. They used an auger to clear the clog, made sure the toilet was all clear, and were in and out in under 15 minutes. They were both polite and professional.

I got the bill in the mail a few days later. It seemed a bit steep to me - $146 for less than 15 minutes of toilet snaking - but I really can't complain. They swiftly rescued my only toilet in its hour of need!

Had a slow, but ever increasing loss in hot water pressure over a period of 8 weeks. Finally after waiting 10 minutes for the water to get tepid, I broke and called Guy Plumbing and got an appointment for 9AM the next morning.

Promptly at 9AM I opened the door to great Alan Guy, with hand extended, introducing himself. I took him to our water heater and mentioned that I thought the water recirculator had given up the ghost. He could have easily said, Yup and charged me for a new one and the labor to install it, but he suspected something else. He thoughtfully went through some simple tests and determined that it was a jammed check-valve in the outgoing hot water line. A few twists of a large wrench and he was able to remove the offending valve. He offered to replace the valve with a new one, but suggested it was unnecessary and likely to give out again, so he removed the valve, saving me the cost of a new part. Once reassembled, he took the time to go through the house and ensure no air bubbles were left in the line, slowly turning on hot water faucets from back to front.

During the entire 1.5 hours process, he was patient, let me watch as he worked, explaining his thought process. Great work, great guy (no pun intended). I couldn't be more pleased...

During the COVID-19 stay-at-home order, we noticed our single/handled bathroom sink was unable to be completely shut off; hot water was constantly leaking into the sink and down the drain. I shut the hot water under the sink but with all the hand-washing required, we were really missing the ability to use this bathroom. Guy Plumbing had replaced a similar faucet in another bathroom years ago, but I was reluctant to invite someone into my house during the social distancing order. I called them anyway and was told their repair service was still operating, and that they wear masks, gloves, and shoe coverings and that I could open the door, get out if the way, and that they would do the repair, clean up, and leave. I said I wanted the same faucet they replaced in the other bathroom years ago; she looked it up by my address and said it was in stock, and that the plumber was just finishing another job in the area. I put blue tape arrows pointing the way to the bathroom on the floor before the plumber arrived; he arrived within 15 minutes (!), installed the new faucet, and left. Guy invoices by mail so this was entirely a contactless transaction. These guys really rock! It's great to have them in the neighborhood.

Chalk up another slam dunk experience with Guy Plumbing. We've had a increasingly loud rattle coming from our water pipes whenever a large load was going; whether the rare instances we can run our sprinklers, our washing machine, or flushing a toilet. It sounded like it was coming from the wall between our bedroom and garage.. and I feared that it would require opening up the wall to resolve the issue.

Troy came out, and spent a good hour troubleshooting, and narrowed the issue down to the water meter out by the sidewalk! It was older and starting to fail, generating a lot of noise and vibrations that went all the way into the house.

Money for a professional diagnosis well-spent, as armed with that knowledge I was able to call the city to have them replace the meter. They were skeptical at first, but after giving exactly all the steps Troy followed to troubleshoot, they agreed that we did our due diligence before blaming the meter. Replaced meter, and now everything is nice and quiet in the house.

I contacted several plumbing companies. I spoke with Troy Guy to get some pricing for my aunt and uncle's homes. He was very patient, nice, and accommodating. I met with the older Troy last Friday to fix the backyard pipe. He was quick, friendly, and did an excellent job! Today, I met with the younger Troy to repair the leaky bathtub valves. He was also great, fast, and overall honest guy. Pricing was extremely fair. I would definitely recommend them!

I just called them as I have a sewer issue and do not know anyone in Menlo Park. A very helpful lady, Yanira gave me the number for the city, that I should call 1st! If it turns out not to be a city issue then she provided 2 more names and numbers for other plumbers that do that kind of work!
That is what you call TOP CUSTOMER SERVICE!! I will definitely be calling them back the next time I need services they provide!
Plumbing companies are a dime a dozen. CUSTOMER SERVICE is what will get my business every time!

I was directed to this business by a hardware store that did not have the part I needed. Nice but very small showroom. The pictures are very deceiving. Stood at the counter behind a gentlemen being helped where there where three employees in a space of about 7'x7'. The gentlemen left and I stood there, two more employees came to the counter area, and I stood there. I was never acknowledged or spoke too so I left, never to return. Tradesmen maybe, obviously not business men/women.

Dave and he is Quick with the Part or Advise on how I can Fix it. And the Receptionist, oh what can I say, she's alway's happy, and Treat's you like she know's you, and like you are part of the Family. A Nice Family, who like's each other.

I am so relieved that I finally found a local plumbing company I can trust! I put off getting some plumbing work done because I had gotten really expensive quotes from other plumbers in the past. I called Guy Plumbing based on their good reviews when I couldn't put it off any longer. Troy came out and explained why I didn't need the fixes the other plumbers quoted, demonstrating clearly that there's some old school knowledge/experience that some plumbers today just don't have. That knowledge deficit (and/or desire not to fix things) ends up costing customers like me because the plumbers replace things that they could just fix and make good as new. Troy did the fixes and showed me the components of the fix so I could understand what he was doing. Now I understand what the problem was and can explain it if I need to in the future. Thank you Troy and Guy Plumbing for saving me TONS of money!

Troy came to my house on time. This was the 1st good sign. He was very knowledgeable and very professional. He helped me fix my kitchen drain pipe which had a cracked fitting that I was unable to remove. He also helped me retro-fitted my other pipes for optimal configuration. He was honest and answered any and all questions I asked. I am very satisfied with his work and would recommend his services to anyone in need.

We went to guy plumbing to buy and HET toilet. After a little time time explore we were greeted by a staff member. He was knowledgeable and friendly. In the end we picked a toto toilet, which they priced lower that toto does online. The guy knew everything we needed to do to apply for the HET toilet rebate and gave us all the necessary paperwork.
They delivered and installed the toilet the next day. Again, everything was great, the plumber came on time and got everything done pretty quickly.
Afterwards we got a bill for the installation, and it was on the lower end of the estimated range, even though the plumber had to do some extra stuff.
So overall I was very happy with Guy Plumbing. The only downside is their hours. It would be nice if they were open after work or on weekends.

Not good for Palo Alto area. Canceled an appointment and cost us greater than one day setback in fixing the only shower in our condo.

We asked Guy plumbing to investigate a leaky shower in our condo. They agreed to come out within ~24 hrs. So far, so good.

On the morning before the appointment, we asked about the allotted one hour time frame. The receptionist explained that even if more time were needed, this was a standard first step and that there was still value in just having the initial investigation. We were fine with that -- until about five minutes later, the owner called us to cancel the appointment.

If you are reading this, you probably work as many hours as my wife and I do -- you probably live in, or near to, Palo Alto and you are a professional broadly categorized as in the technology industry. Needless to say, we contacted Guy because of good yelp and because we see value in getting the best service. Our time is very valuable -- not being able to shower at home is a big problem.

From my perspective, I am trying to get the most value out of each appointment and get this solved quickly. From Guy's perspective, I am a problem customer.

My takeaway: if you want to do business with Guy, don't ask questions. Don't try to investigate yourself.

I needed help with a sink repair and had a great experience. He showed me how to manage the problem myself in the future. Good education and service!
Two months later, I had a leaking toilet. The plumber told me the risks in making the repair so I was informed... then he fixed everything.

I don't think it's very easy to find friendly, courteous and capable plumbers. Guy Plumbing is wonderful. Alan came out and let us know what wasn't working, told us the options we had to fix it and what the benefits of each fix were.

Many other plumbers we've dealt with just give one fix (and it's probably the most costly option!).

I highly recommend them for plumbing, they also have a show room with fixtures and do heating work (which I can't say I've used, but if it's anything like their plumbing services I'm sure it's top notch!).

We had a problem with our hansgrohe shower, the thermostatic cartridge had gone bad, and it would take forever to get hot water ( and even then, it was warm at best, not hot ).

Troy from Guy Plumbing came out, he had gotten the spare cartridge with him, and after verifying that the problem was with the existing cartridge, he replaced it. That took care of the problem. He also fixed a flow issue we were having with that shower, as well as the shower in the other bathroom. Quick, and excellent service !!

A quick note, they do charge top dollars, $128/hour, the time to get to your place is included in that.

I had Troy from Guy plumbing out to my house to install a pressure regulator. They gave me a quote over the phone after I e-mailed a photo showing the job was straightforward. This was the first awesome part of the experience. Other plumbers wanted to see the work first, and the end result is the uncomfortable experience of having to tell them to go away so I can get a second quote, rather than just having them do the job right then. I'm sure some plumbers rely on that pressure to get people to agree to higher prices.

The second awesome part of that experience was Troy: He was super nice, and was cool with me watching him work and asking questions. He did great work, and even answered plumbing questions unrelated to the regulator while he worked.

The third awesome part was when, after I questioned the price they put on the invoice for the part itself, they called and confirmed that it had been an error and had been corrected with no hassle. Super pleasant to work with.

Guy is now my go to plumbing company.

Over the years I have used Guy Plumbing many, many times. They always come out very quickly, usually the same day. The work they have done for me has always been high quality. Everything from toilet repairs to faucet installations to helping me detect a problem with our water line.

I also appreciate the fact that if there is a job they can't do, they simply tell me that on the phone and will often also tell me the best place to go to get the job done. The folks they refer to are of similar high quality, and I trust their recommendations. It's also nice that when you call, you pretty much always get a real person, and that person knows their stuff. No waiting on hold, no callbacks where you have to explain your problem again and again.

I actually can't think of a service business in the Menlo Park area that I would recommend more highly - Guy Plumbing is awesome.

Troy came to replace a Hansgrohe thermostatic cartridge in my shower. Other plumbers said it would be a minimum charge (and it was high). I asked what if it only takes 15 minutes? They said it would still be the minimum. Troy came from Guy plumbing, cleaned the shower parts and then tested the hot water. He found that the cartridge needed to be replaced. He called it in and in a matter of minutes, it was delivered. He installed it and it works great.
He was neat, thorough and very friendly. The price was VERY REASONABLE. I highly recommend them.

The plumbing service was fine. But the plumber spent at least 20-30 minutes telling me about his childhood days playing sports in Northern California, from the Bay Area to Clear Lake, budding football star who was discriminated against by the coaches. I complained that I was charged for the full-time that the plumber was there, even though I am sure that they could have done the job much faster without all of the storytelling, which I had to endure through. At $146/hr, 15 minutes is worth $36.50, so this is what I believe to have been overcharged for, and I told them so at their office. I had been waiting for the new bill, to be reduced by $36.50, it just arrived, but disappointingly, with no change to the amount, no reduction. This is my reason for writing this review, I believe I was over-charged. Needless to say, I will be looking for another plumber in the future.

Troy from Guy Plumbing was able to replace my Hans Grohe Shower handle cartridges that we has all but given up changing after a year of bringing in various plumbers and contractors all singing the same tune after sparing not few a big bangs on the poor diverter knob and such..We were just a step from tearing the wall and costing ourselves unnecessary 1000$ or so and much more in intangible aggravation! Troy is a hero! All service MUST be like this. Not the corporatized , robotized and throw-away services you get mostly nowadays... I

Wow! Guy plumbing service rocks! I was given a specific time they would arrive to fix my broken sink, they arrived on time, same day, and fixed the broken hose within 15 minutes of arrival! Incredible! I didn't spend hours waiting for someone to arrive, I now have a functional sink again- So happy! (Except that now I have to wash all those dishes that piled up when the faucet broke last night...)

We had a leaking pipe in the shower so I called the Guy plumbing.They responded right away and sent someone over within a few hours. Not only did they fix my leaking pipe, they also tightened my shower heads and checked other potential leakages, I am very pleased with their service. Next time when I have a plumbing issue, I know who to call now.

This company is outstanding. They are prompt, knowledgeable, professional and are quick to respond in a crisis.
I have used them about 5 or 6 times. Once I had a broken faucet (it actually broke off the pipe with water gushing across the back yard) on the outside of my house, I called them and they were there within 45 min. I wished I had used them when I built my house because of the few problem I have had in my 8 year old house has been related to plumbing issues and they have not only fixed the problem but pointed out the mistakes made by the original plumber. Another time they came out for one issue and I asked a question about a minor problem I was having with my shower and they just fixed it for me. I highly recommend them. Always friendly, prompt and very professional.

I called and got an appointment for the next day. That's pretty good for a non-emergency. Then, they arrived at the very beginning of their 2 hour window. What's going on here? A plumber when you need him, and not having to wait? Not sure this will happen again, but it's definitely worth a shot.

I've also gone into their store to purchase water filters, and they are always nice and friendly.

Guy Plumbing is the company I call when I have a leak that I can't fix or a toilet that needs changing. They are a friendly, capable business and the plumbers I have worked with have been consistently efficient and effective at fixing the problem. They are also willing to say when a problem is not fixable instead of throwing good money after bad. I trust them to respond quickly and be very straightforward to deal with.

We've had several excellent experiences with this company. Mostly recently, they replaced the pilot light assembly on our hot water heater. As other folks have stated, fast & friendly service with very high ethical standards (e.g. lady on phone counseled me to try re-light procedure on pilot before incurring cost of service call, clearly stated cost estimates for work to be performed, stated min work time, etc.). I completely trust these guys. Bonus points for being a local business! And for the Guy Plumbing pencils they give you after a visit - old school! :-). Highly recommend.

They give great advice for dealing with a limited budget as well, and they've saved us in emergency situations as quickly as possible. Alan Guy came out right away, gave me an estimate of $650 to install a gas line to my new range. He thought of all issues i had to address, had his team show up on time, gave them instructions and did the project when they said they would for exactly the quote. It was really a great experience.

It was time to replace an old tired toilet. So I dropped on at Guys to see what they could show me in a water saving model. They had a large number on their floor and most were in stock. So I was able to order one for installation the very next day. The plumber was a few minutes early, removed the old toilet, and installed the new one, and was gone in 50 minutes! Incredible. And very professional.

We had a terrible experience with Guy Plumbing. Our garbage disposal had stopped working. Someone from Guy came out and found a dime in the disposal in less than 5 minutes. I was charged for a full hour service call at $156 and the plumber packed up and left before I could have him look at our leaky shower or anything else. We live within 1 mile from Guy Plumbing. I offered to pay the plumber on the service day and he refused payment indicating that we would be billed. When I called to discuss the $156 charge for less than 5 minutes, Guy reduced it to $99. Again, I offered to pay over the phone and was told I would be billed. Now a few months later when going through our mail, I find a notice that Guy turned the $99 bill over to a collection company (I guess we never received the original statement in the mail). Guy never called us or anything before turning our account over to collection even though we've worked with them on several plumbing projects without any issues throughout the years and I had already offered to pay the bill twice.

I've only used Guy Plumbing once but they did a great job in about a third of the time and a quarter the cost of another plumbing place in San Mateo that I had called first. The fellow who came out from Guy Plumbing (Troy, I believe) was very friendly, went straight to work, and knew exactly what needed to be done. I was replacing two FlushMate toilet systems. I had called Caccia Plumbing in San Mateo first but the fellow they sent out didn't know what to do, said he didn't have time to do it anyway and wanted to charge $230/hr for three hours - so I sent him packing. Troy at Guy Plumbing was done in about an hour, and charge $140/hr.

Guy Plumbing installed a seismic gas shut-off valve at our home. Their charge of $480 seemed high to me, and even moreso when I subsequently smelled gas in the area of our meter and found that the valve had been poorly installed. PG&E found a leaking connection to the valve and not only tightened it, but painted the bare pipe installed at the same time as the valve (as recommended by the valve manufacturer but deemed unnecessary by the plumbing company and not included in their $480).

Today was the second time I've had Guy Plumbing solve and fix a plumbing problem after other 24/7 emergency plumbers couldn't figure out the problem, couldn't determine exactly what was wrong, vastly overstated the seriousness of the problem or were just plain incompetent. The two Guy guys (last time, Troy; this time, Dan) were efficient, competent, prompt and clearly superior to anyone else I've dealt with about plumbing issues. In addition, their charges, while not cheap, are fair and reasonable. There is no question that I would recommend Guy Plumbing. They really know what they're doing.

We shopped extensively for a water heater and found lots of options, including tankless and ultra high efficiency heaters. Several plumbing companies came out to make an estimate. Of all the companies, Guy Plumbing was the very best. Alan Guy pointed out a couple of ways to improve the installation (compared to others), and his guys were quick, expert, and effective. His pricing was ultimately a bit higher than others who gave fixed bids, but the extra work they did to improve the installation was well worth a few extra dollars. If others had done the extra work, they would have charged even more. And, if they are not well suited to do the job you want, they will gladly refer to others. I trust Guy Plumbing a lot.

Guy plumbing fixed our leaky Kohler Vinnata kitchen faucet which 2 previous professionals had claimed would be a can of worms to touch!

The fixture was installed by our contractor in 2004 and started leaking from the handle during operation pretty much right after that, but since the leak was intermittent and difficult to replicate on the spot, the contractor was unable to see exactly what was happening. Meanwhile, I had contacted Kohler, who sent me two replacements cartridges, but our contractor was reluctant to take the fixture apart and mess with it (hence, can of worms expression). A plumber we hired to take care of a different problem also opined that he wouldn't touch the fixture with a 50 ft. pole. So we just lived with the leak, putting a kitchen towel under the handle to absorb the water. Over the years, the leak got more consistent. Now we're getting our house ready for sale, so we had to fix it or replace it. I found Guy Plumbing listed in the Kohler USA website. The scheduler chuckled at my story of how no one wanted to touch our fixture and said, We can fix it! I was a bit skeptical, but hopeful. She scheduled an appointment for the next day, the service person came on time (okay, slightly early, but he apologized for that). He explained exactly what caused the leak in our particular fixture, installed the Kohler cartridges the manufacturer had sent us several years ago, and voila! No more leak! I had a While you're here, can you look at this... question, and the service person happily cleared out a dishwasher hose that was getting clogged and causing overflow through the air gap. Guy Plumbing gets 5 stars for having the knowledge and skills, being punctual and friendly, and leaving the worksite neat.

After 20 years, I am still amazed at how fabulous the staff at Guy Plumbing are. Alan, Ron, Ron, Troy, KC and all the rest are the VERY BEST. On time, pleasant and efficient. Friends of mine have said that they are a bit pricey, but they get the job done the first time (often unlike the local handyman), therefore a bargain. When you need plumbing and heating repairs or maintenance or a replacement toilet seat for a 25 year old toilet, call Guy Plumbing first.

We called Guy Plumbing because we had a backup in a sink upstairs in the master bedroom. After being told that someone would come between 2 and 4 pm, we received a call right at 2 that someone was on his way. Alex showed up a few minutes later, was very professional in both his manner and in diagnosing the problem which wasn't so easy due to an unusual pipe configuration. He worked diligently for just under an hour, remedying the problem completely and cleaning up thoroughly. I thought the $110 basic charge for up to one hour was very fair. (After one hour, you pay $27.50 per quarter hour for overtime.) As advertised, you get billed in the mail rather than paying on the spot. Everything was perfect.

We were having problems with our shower. Turns out most plumbers don't want to work on Grohe products. We called Guy Plumbing who said they would send Troy over the next day who was very good with the Grohe line. We were given a 9-12pm window. Troy arrived about 10 am, cleaned out a clogged water valve and advised us a new $300 valve may be required in the future. He said to keep using the current valve for a while. So far, the old valve is working great! Thanks Troy and Guy Plumbing for the great service.

For plumbing services I would highly recommend Alex at Guy's Plumbing & Heating in Menlo Park, CA. The response to our phone call was prompt and the visit efficient. Alex repaired both our kitchen and our bathroom faucets, explaining the problems and the repairs needed as he worked. His work was thorough and neat. And the price was right.
