Excalibur Rooter and Plumbing

We had Excalibur do a complete repiping job on our home in Alameda.  They filed for the permits and got to work within a few days to do the work.  They showed up on time with a good sized crew and worked though to the evening.  All of the major work was completed in that first phase and it was done professionally and efficiently.  They will return in a few days, after some other work is complete, to do the finishing touches.  Their communication has been excellent and we've been nothing but impressed with their work.

I've been stressing trying to find a good reliable plumber.
Long story short, my go to plumber who I usually hire to do minor things said my sewer lateral may be broken or cracked because they had to unclog the clean out and their drain snake got stuck. They recommend me find another plumber to get it fixed asap since he does not do sewer replacements. My plumber gave me a company name/info he knows that could do it and I was a bit relieved but... Unfortunately the recommended business has poor communication and I felt left in the dark. I was losing hope until I reached out to Luis at Excalibur. This is also why you should always get multiple quotes.

There was some minor yelp communication hiccup but Luis was able to follow up with an appointment. Luis even communicated with me after hours! Communication is key with a lot of business and if they have that, it is 5 stars in my book.

After scheduling an appointment for an estimate, Felix came out and ran a camera down the clean out. They found three areas that needed repair and my heart sank! The other businesses I reached out to didn't even bother to schedule an appointment around the time I am available so we can talk about options and what we should do. I reached out to Luis after Felix did the inspection and Luis sent me the proposal the next day highlighting what needs to be done and the cost. I paid what was quoted as well.

They are very honest about the options and they also will take care of the permits with the city so you don't have to worry about anything else. I asked if they could start the project on a certain day which they were very accommodating.

Felix came back out a week later to mark the lines and let me know their plans. The communication is amazing!

The day of the project, Luis and his team started around 8AM and they completed by 5PM. The city inspector came out to do the inspection before they completed the job. Once everything was inspected, they finished off by pouring the concrete. The current clean out I had is no longer usable and they installed a new clean out at near the bathroom. They noted that I wouldn't really need to worry about any more clogs because the entire sewer line is replaced. Which is honestly amazing.

I do recommend someone being home when they do the projects. Only downside is that you cannot use any plumbing while they work on the sewer like faucet, toilet, shower, etc... They needed access to some electrical and access to areas that are fenced/gated off.

If I have big plumbing jobs in the future, I would definitely use Excalibur again. Quick responses and very competitive pricing.

My water main was leaking 20000 gal of water a month, it was a real nightmare situation. Two leak finder companies (both ridiculously expensive and useless) failed to identify the location of the leak. In the end I hired Excalibur to replace the line, and they brought an army of people to do it as fast as possible. They did 60 feet of 1.25 soldered copper piping, plus excavation in rocky clay soil and backfilling in about 6 hours. It was extremely impressive and I've had no issues with the job over the last 11 months. They have excellent plumbers and laborers on staff and the prices are quite reasonable.

Cant say enough about this company.  Phone was answered on a Sunday.  Took my info and was called immediately by Felix who was working that day. He was able to come to the house in about 3 hours and fix a plugged up sewer line and diagnose another leak. Provided a very reasonable quote for both jobs. Got the toilet/sewer line working(after snaking it). Came back the next day and fixed the other leak.   Amazing communication and service.  My go to plumbing company moving forward.  I would give 10 stars if I could.

I noticed my pilot light went out late in the evening and I was unable to re-light it. I called several plumbing companies and they were not able to come until two days after or they never returned my call after leaving voicemails. I called Luis he answered promptly and he was able to come out to my home the next day at 7:00AM. Unfortunately the water heater was near the end of its service life and even if parts were replaced the water heater would likely fail again within a couple of months.

Luis was informative and gave us two options that we could go down and let us make the decision. No pressure at all from Luis and we decided to replace the water heater.

The installation of the new water heater and removal of the old water heater was smooth, fast and clean. I really appreciate the swift and professional work they performed.

I would definitely hire Luis and team again. I had a job that involved a sewer clean out, that I thought was a sewer vent :) I called them to get them moved somewhere else and he informed me what it was and knew the best course of action. He seemed to know all the relevant building codes for Castro Valley and more, and made recommendations to remedy my situation that minimized future risk if I were to put my house on market in the future. He thinks ahead and even wanted to make sure the sewer pipe was in good condition before I went ahead and spent money on this job. He ran his camera scope to check the pipes and didn't try to make a dime off of it because he wanted to check everything before making the best recommendation. This is a rare behavior! Someone who actually wants you to get the best work possible with the most value.

Him and his team are super efficient, effective, prompt, courteous, and have great customer service. Luis and team are true professionals. I highly recommend this company!!

They came over to take a look at my shower and, to my embarrassment, the shower was working. But I'm still very grateful for them for taking the time to look at it and testing the shower a few times to make sure that it is actually in working condition.

Luis was extremely prompt throughout our communication. He completed the job which involved moving over the water outlet from one wall to another cleanly and professionally! In addition, he helped fix some other problems that we asked him to help with. He was very reasonable with his charges and was willing to answer all our questions when on the job!

We just had our very old sewer line replaced by Felix and the crew. With the drought we've had the ground was hard as a rock which made their work even tougher. What troopers they were. We had a major issue with our upstairs toilets and showers.  They were blocked.  I sent a yelp message to them at 3:00 AM.  They responded immediately and were at our house early in the morning.  By the time they got here, the issues had resolved.  The team checked out everything and explained what happened.  They changed a nominal fee for the visit.  Wonderful team!

We found an issue on a Sunday morning with and upstairs toilet causing gurgling in a downstairs toilet.  The downstairs toilet also would not flush properly.  Trying to plunge the downstairs toilet...result was having sewage back flow into that toilet!  Contacted Excalibur and received a reasonable ballpark estimate and an appointment for two hours later.  Felix showed up on time and quickly assessed the issue.  After rooting the main line clean out, the problem still persisted.  Running a camera into the main line, Felix found the clog in a branch line.  Between driving the camera and the snake he was able to work the snake up into the branch with the clog and made quick work of it.  Would definitely recommend!

Very professional plumbers. We needed our line from the clean out to the street to be snaked as roots keep growing in. They have been the most thorough plumbers we have used. Their equipment looked a lot newer too. He showed me with the camera where exactly our issues are.

He quickly looked at all locations, asked clear questions to understand the problem, and ended up going onto the roof to clear the drain block through a plumbing vent pipe.

We called Luis when our new home's toilet was leaking from the bottom. Within 15 minutes he was at our doorstep investigating the problem. Luis and his partner were extremely friendly and knowledgable. They quickly found the cause of the problem (pipe clog) and worked hard to resolve it. It definitely was a tough job, but they were in and out in a couple hours. How did 3 pine cones ended up in our lines? No clue.. We are SO thankful for Excalibur. They fixed the problem fast and we'd hire them again.

I've used Luis several years back for draining issues. He told me the issues and got straight to the point of what I needed to do now and what can be delayed for later. Fast forward to 2020 and the issues i delayed came back and Luis was able to fix it within hours. I highly recommend Luis, he has two decades of experience, his prices are very competitive and he explains everything to you. Most plumbers will tell you everything cannot be delayed and give an outrageous price for the repair and you'll need to waste time negotiating or looking for another plumber.

Luis is solid. I'm surprised he doesn't have reviews here but I'm glad to leave him 5 stars. Luis helped me out 3 different times already (separate issues) and is straight forward about possible problems and possible solutions. He's pretty much my go to guy for plumbing.

In case you're wondering I had a kitchen sink (garbage disposal) problem, another time I had a washer drainage pipe issue and the other was a different kitchen sink but this was a drain problem he hydro rooted for me.

Knowledgeable, friendly, reliable plumbing company.  Luis has excellent customer service and is extremely committed to his craft.  I used him for two of my Laundromats and he did a thorough job of cleaning the pipes.  The job took longer than expected but he keep going making sure the pipes were cleared properly.  Pricing is responsible, very responsive when you contact him.  I am extremely happy to find Luis as my go to guy with any plumbing issues.  Highly recommend his services!

Luis has performed several services for our home over the past few years. He has installed a new trench-free sewer line with 2 new clean-outs, replaced a water heater, and rootered-out our clogged drains. I manage a 24 unit condo building that constantly needs plumbing  attention. They always come quickly and on time and leave everything clean. In the past i had other vendors for ten years try to diagnose a leak between two units spent hundreds to find leak with no success, Luis came to the property instantly learned the buildings setup and diagnosed the problem. I was so impressed now only call this vendor for all my plumbing and maintenance needs for the building.

Luis Arechiga, owner of Excalibur is an outstanding plumber.  Luis is honest, professional, and extremely knowledgeable.  I called him about a clogged toilet on the weekend.  He came out on a Sunday morning, and was able to unclog the toilet.  He was very reasonable and honest.  I have been charged over double what he charged me.   I appreciated his honesty.   He then told me that part of the reason that every 6 months or so the toilet gets clogged is due to the roots from the trees/plants that get into the sewer pipe and showed me exactly what was happening on a camera.  He told me that this was not something that needed to be repaired now.  I asked him how this can be fixed?  Luis explained that the lateral sewer line would eventually someday need to be replaced.   Now, it is a requirement in Alameda County for this to be done eventually and it is required if you ever decide to sell your home.  After some thought, I decided to go ahead and have Luis replace the lateral sewer line because I trusted him.  He was open and honest with me and I appreciated his honesty. Luis and his crew took care of everything from calling PG&E to ensure that it was OK to dig in that area, to filing the permit with Alameda County, and also with Waste Management when the project was completed.  Luis took the time to explain what he was going to do, how he was going to do it, and showed me the pipe he would install.  The pipe is very durable and will definitely last 30+ years. Luis and his crew were professional, knowledgeable, neat, responsible, dependable, and reliable.  I appreciate the job that Luis and his TEAM did and would highly recommend them.  Thank you Luis for the outstanding job that you & your TEAM did.  I really appreciate your help.

Luis came and saved the day! I submitted an inquiry to multiple plumbers through yelp and Luis was one of the first ones to respond. Some of the other plumbers couldn't make it out until the next day or required a fee to come and evaluate the issue but Luis said, I'll be there in 15 minutes. And he was. He was nice, funny, and walked us through the whole process. I would definitely hire him again.

We had them come to re-pipe our 67 year old home. They did an outstanding job. They also replaced the faucets in my kitchen and in our main bathroom. Had a small glitch but when I contacted Luis he was very responsive and was able to correct the issue. We are very pleased with the work. Luis is easy to communicate with. We had a clogged sewer drain and contacted Excalibur based on the Yelp reviews that recommended  them.  Those reviews are completely accurate.  Luis arrived within two hours of our call and resolved the problem in no time.  He and his crew were as efficient as they were professional.  Gotta say, given our situation, they were our heroes!  Nobody ever expects problems like these and it's nice to know that when they happen, there's someone out there one can count on.

I luckily discovered the brown water coming up out of my sewer clean out shortly after it totally clogged and Excalibur was able to service a few hours later. Very prompt, clean, did a great job, and very reasonably priced. Although they're in Hayward, they come out to Concord, Pleasant Hill, and Walnut Creek. Saved the day.

Very professional and arrived earlier than estimated time.  Hydro-jet my blocked drain in less than half an hour. Very happy with the job done!

I woke up this morning to a leaking water heater. I contacted Luis. He almost immediately responded and asked me to text a couple of pictures of the water heater to him. After seeing them, he texted me an estimate. Other companies said they needed to come out to give me an estimate. By 2:45 Luis and his crew were putting in the new unit. Works great. They cleaned things up, even picking a leaf off my driveway as they left. I recommend them!
