Established in 2014.
Neil Thorpe started his career with an elite plumbing company as an apprentice. He was very interested in being able to put pipes together and see the finished product. His apprenticeships quickly lead him to a journeymen position. Neil has always strived to be a better plumber and always takes pride in his work, and it shows. During his career, he continued to challenge himself to learn every aspect of the trade.

Neil Thorpe, The President and Owner of Desired Plumbing, Inc., has lived in Marin County for twenty-one years. In 2001, Neil graduated from Novato High School and started attending the Academy of Arts College where he studied automotive design. He has always enjoyed doing hands on work and started looking for a part time job. This led him to the perfect opportunity to get the chance to do hands on work and started working with a local plumbing company.

Our water heater went out for the second time in two years. I got replacement quotes and repair quotes but Neal said he'd have to come out to troubleshoot and he was pretty busy until the next day. I talked to him to arrange an appointment and he said he'd try to stop by that day.
He was able to stop by that evening and said our water heater parts were covered under warranty and proceeded to call the manufacturer right then and there!!He got the part delivered in two days and sent two reliable crew members to install. Our water heater is just fine with a new burner installed.
Desired Plumbing went above and beyond excellent repair and service. I highly recommend them.
Our new plumber (last one retired). These guys are great, quick response, know how to do it. This was a simple job but one I didn't want to have any call-back problems. Expensive kitchen faucet decided to leak after a dozen years or so. Found a rare replacement on ebay, but no way would I want to do this myself. Frankly, not many things of this nature do I want to diy anyway. Based on this limited experience, I'd agree with all the other 5* reviews. Just hope this one lasts longer, as I doubt there's another replacement for this discontinued but very cool item.

We needed to replace a 35-year-old water-guzzling toilet and the last two plumbers we called either never returned our call or didn't show up for the appt., so we tried Desired Plumbing due to the number of positive Yelp reviews. Neil answered our call in the morning and was really knowledgable, friendly and patient with my questions. He offered us options re: repair or replace, and the types of toilets available for sane-day installation. That afternoon, two very nice plumbers showed up with everything they needed to install the new Kohler toilet and haul away the old one. They did such a nice job! The bill was very reasonable, too! I've told family and friends about Desired Plumbing because they were friendly, dependable, and professional. Give them a try -- you won't be disappointed!
We only would write a review as a result of exceptional service and satisfaction. Such is the case with 'Desired Plumbing' out of Petaluma. We are seniors. We have built 8 homes over the years. We know what exceptional service is. 'Desired Plumbing' gets two thumbs up. Very neat, clean and skilled. Their pricing is fair and reasonable. With Plumbers, you never really know what you are getting until the job is done ... Look no further 5 stars for these guys.

This is the one you want. DP gave me a competitive bid, and Neil sounded like he knew his stuff so I went with them, and what I got was that perfect mix of professionalism, competence, honesty and all-around nice guy. Neil asked for photos before they came out, so when they arrived they already had everything they needed for the job. They were prompt and very thorough, and Neil made sense of everything for me so I understood the issues and options. When they left, the place was spotless, and I noticed they did some things with soldering and insulation that I hadn't asked for or expected. Go with these guys, you won't regret it.
PS I have no connection with DP, and I've never met either of them before.
Neil saved me $3,058.85! Honestly. I wasn't getting any hot water so I called a company (M.R.) and was quoted $3,300.00 to replace the water heater. M.R. found no other problems. Since I'd been without hot water for about a week, I wanted it done and scheduled the installation. But, the next morning, I woke up and the first thought I had was cancel the appointment with M.R. so I did. I knew that price was way too high.
Then, I called Desired Plumbing and Neil came out the same day. He diagnosed the problem in less than a half-hour. The hot and cold water lines had been crossed during the initial installation, 30 years ago. He fixed the problem, told me I would need to replace the tank soon because of sediment build-up, but not before Christmas!
Then, he fixed it in no time. The hot water came back, immediately. It cost me $241.15. When I do replace the tank, it will be about half of what was quoted originally. So, yes, I highly recommend Desired Plumbing and Neil. He cares. It's obvious. He's a problem-solver and a fair person, not to mention, lifesaver!
Neal and his team were GREAT! They were out to my house within an hour of calling! Marcell and his colleague were friendly and fixed my leak in less than an hour! I would highly recommend them for your plumbing needs!

I hesitate to write a review simply because I want to hog these conscientious fellas all to myself! The review that lead me to them named Neil as kind, and this is no joke. These guys are capable, efficient, and a pleasure to work with. These are good honest people with the skills to boot.
They did a big job in our garage during a rainstorm. Even so, they were tidy, and did all of their cutting in the backyard IN the rain to spare my garage! The job took longer than they imagined, and at 6:30 p.m., after a full day's work, they were STILL going. They are perfectionists, and they charge fairly.
I can't recommend them enough. They are the plumbers I've always been looking for and finally found. 10 stars to Neil, Marcel and all the guys at Desired.
Wow, I am so impressed with the great service I received from this company. The hot water pipe from my water heater was corroding and needed to be replaced. I called Neil on Tuesday, he came by on Wednesday to look at the problem so he could purchase parts, and fixed the problem on Thursday morning.
Unbelievable !! He works quickly and his prices are reasonable. In one hour, he replaced 2 flex pipes from the water heater, replaced a hot water pipe, grounded the electrical wires on the water heater, AND fixed my noisy toilet.
If you need a plumber, you have to call Desired Plumbing. You will not regret it !!!!
Neil was a referral from our contractor and I highly recommend him.
We set up a time for him to come and just give us an estimate. He was on time and ended up just fixing the problem with the water pressure in our new shower on the spot. He is knowledgeable and honest

Neil and his crew have done work at each of my 3 houses, and they do great work. His crew shows up on time, their prices are competitive, they know what they are talking about, and they are respectful of our homes. I had a plumbing emergency and some other work to be done. Neil came the next day, did a good job, worked efficiently, and charged a fair price.
Desired Plumbing just saved me thousands of dollars. I had 2 other plumbers look at my leaking water heater and received bids of $2800 and $2300. I called Desired Plumbing today and Neil came by today to look look at my problem to give me an estimate. Instead he said I can fix that. He diagnosed a leaking drain valve and put in a brass cap on the valve to stop the leak and save me replacing my water heater. I'm not accusing the other plumbers of being dishonest, they just didn't take the time to look and diagnose to problem properly. He charged me $0 and wished me a Merry Christmas. Competency and honesty are rare qualities in any business. I will be calling Desired Plumbing for all my plumbing needs from now on.

A failed water heater led us to Neil and crew. Over the years we have called different plumbers, but had yet to find the guy who we stuck on the frig. Neil gets the nod. Fantastic and clean work. Helped with other important plumbing issues around the house. Desired Plumbing is our go to guys now.
I had Neil out to take care of installing a shower pan last week. I wasn't around, so my tile guy supervised the work. He said Neil did a great job, was quick, efficient and did a great job. Neil ended up doing a few other repairs for issues he found while he was down there. Now the toilet doesn't wobble, the new shower pan is solid, and everything flows properly. He had to get a new drain for the new pan, and everything looks great. The old one didn't fit right and I'm glad he didn't try to pass it off as good enough, because I don't want good enough. I want it done right.
Would highly recommend his service to friends and family. Neil was very communicative and easy to work with, especially since I wasn't able to be around for the project. He gets the concept of customer service and not just trying to nickel and dime you for little things. Good to see things getting handled correctly, you don't see that much in the trades these days.

Neil and his team are fantastic! Polite, knowledgeable, trustworthy, friendly and fair. They did an efficient and excellent job installing a new gas line so we could convert to a gas stove. I'll absolutely use them again, and I highly recommend them!
Neil and Marcel were great! They came out and were helpful, honest and fast! It was great to actually learn what the issues were with my toilets and plumbing and how they were fixed. I will definitely be using them again when I install new toilets in my house. I recommend them 110%.
We had an unfortunate plumbing situation arise last night. I called Neil at Desired Plumbing this morning, and he was here within a couple of hours. He fixed the problem at a very reasonable price. Extremely friendly and professional--a real life-saver...which is much more than I can say for our useless home warranty company, which wouldn't get anyone to commit to come out until Saturday. Highly recommend.
When asked for a quote to run a new water main Neil and Marcel asked all the right questions. Was willing to give me thoughts on saving money and options on how the job could be done. Ran into a few problems, was quick to resolve them and stay on schedule. Showed up on time was courteous and finished the job both professionally and on schedule. While under my house they even pointed out a few problems that should be taken care of. After receiving this outstanding service, you know who will do the repair.
We called Neil last week to run a gas line for our new gas dryer. He did that and evaluated our gas line system, which hadn't been upgraded since the house was built in 1958 He upgraded everything for a very reasonable price. Not only are we much safer now, but our gas range in the kitchen, which had been a little anemic, now works full force. Perfect!
