Wish I could give this gentleman 100 stars!! Wife and I had some major electrical issues due to all the storms we had recently. Mr. Kicker came to the rescue at the drop of a dime and was super friendly and knowledgeable! Would recommend him to the pope himself!! Even our dog loved him(which is rare). Would recommend him for all of your electrical needs! Thanks again Mr. Kicker!

Darren is extremely polite, responsive and patient. He answered a long list of questions from us before we finally scheduled the work.  He showed up on time, cleaned up and delivered what he promised.  We are very happy with the job and will definitely call Darren for our next electrical project.

Darren was brought into our home remodel project by our contractor to do some wiring connection and installation of a larger breaker. After his professionalism and expertise, we decided to inquire about under kitchen counter lighting. He gave us a prompt quote and came back within days to install the lights. He was extremely punctual which isn't doesn't seem to be the norm, so we really appreciated that! The lights looked awesome but I wanted a dimmer for ambiance. He quoted us a very reasonable amount and came back the next day to put that in. My husband and I are both relieved to know that we have a competent, reliable, and honest electrician now to reach out to for future projects!

I could say so much about the honesty and integrity of this guy....I was literally about to spend $3000 on an issue that Darrell solved for less than $400.  I'm so grateful...I would recommend him to any and everybody.  He is the truth

I honestly don't get the reviews on this guy.  What kind of electrician can't count at second grade level.  As for his courtesy and responsiveness , good luck getting him to reply.  He seems lazy uninterested in all except the most $$$ heavy targets .  Yes if you got a reply and you contracted him , you paid way too much and you probably did not get work done to code.  I tested his knowledge on electrical code and he mis quoted , mid interpreted and miscounted .  Skip this guy unless you wish to be overcharged with low quality non code work.  He will run the other direction when you mention permit .  That's a sure sign of a thief

Great and prompt service!!!! I learned a lot about the electrical box from him. Mr. kicker installed an electrical charger Level 2 for my car. He was very professional, friendly, and not in a rush. I will definitely call him for more electrical work in my house.

I called and emailed Darren this afternoon and he responded with a price for the service call.  After sending him a photo he was here within the hour replacing a breaker.  Quick response and on time.  He answered other questions I had and was very nice to work with.

My wife found Darren on Angie's list, to install a ceiling fan and 4 recessed spots. He was expensive, but could do the work quickly, was licensed and had good references.

When he finished the fan was not connected to a wall switch, there was no receipt and the estimate had gone up 10% (which was probably ok). He spun me a story about needing to reprogram the remote everytime the power was turned off and on at the wall. Which is totally bogus, in fact the instructions mandate it.
Cut a long story short, he only paid attention after I stopped the check. Then immediately got aggressive and rude and threatened to put a lien on the property (which I would have successfully contended).
But he was here early the next day with a screw driver - it took 10 mins to fix. To be fair, the standard of work seems otherwise OK and I would have rated him 5 stars. But I don't take kindly to rudeness, threats and BS (- 1 star) and poor safety compliance (- 1 star).

I don't mind paying top dollar for a job, but I expect top-dollar quality and service in return. I wont be using Darren again.

Darren is an ACTUAL ELECTRICIAN and knows what he is doing. We had a few people come to fix a power outage in 2 of our rooms and they were not able to diagnose it. Most places i called seemed like handyman who claim to know electricity issues. If you need something done CORRECTLY, call Darren! He also did not charge outrageous amounts, fair pricing.

Darren did a great job installing a fan and additional lights in the master bedroom. He gave a very fast response to my message, showed up on time and left the place clean. I can't ask for more!

I'm planning to hire him again for another project!

I've had Darren here twice to do electrical work and both times have been great experiences.   Communication/responsiveness has been fast and clear.   Punctuality has been super.   When he gave me times he would be here he was literally here at the time he stated.

He has replaced some lighting fixtures for me along with fixing a light switch that was acting weird.  I've already gotten an estimate from him on my next electrical project.

Darren Kicker is a definite number I'm keeping for anything electrical I need done in my home.

Once again I've lucked out getting a contractor to take care of what I make a mess of.. After weeks of me trying to find a dropped connection, Darren found the issue in no time. . ( which is why I'm the do it yourself guy) and he's the professional who diggs us out... I cannot say enough good about Darren Kicker. He takes the anxiety out of calling an electrician.. Very fair also..!  I always waiste time trying to find an electrician who is competent and fair  It's nice to be able to recommend someone like him to family and friends and know they will get the right guy..

I am soooo glad I found Darren Kicker.   Darren was super laid back and easy to talk to from the very first contact, and his price was ~$1500K less than the  1st quote I had gotten, and things just got BETTER from there.

I bought a Chevy Volt and was eligible for a free  charging unit via Chevy's partner SPX ($2500 value).  When their subcontracted Electrician came he could see clearly I needed a panel upgrade my 70 Amp panel was not gonna cut it, but his 125A upgrade price seemed high.   So I got another quote from someone, a little bit shady sounding on the phone, and it was much less but still seemed more than what I thought it was worth to get the free charger.  After couple more calls I Finally  found Darren, his price for 125 Amp panel was  so much less that I decided to go 200amp panel instead still ~1K less than the first quote.  Anyway super kool, mellow, punctual and does awesome quality work.   We had a funky situation with our drainage pipe and we did not like where the line upgrade would be situated.  Darren found a solution and grabbed some more supplies and it looked great.

Anyway, high quality work at very competitive rates, was always on time and friendly each day, trusted him with my keys and he even kept an eye on my house while other heating guys were to show up and I could not wait around for them.I highly recommend Darren and already I am having him quote some other things we need done around the house.

On a side note:  Sign off from inspector was a pain.  I live outer Sunset SF and this inspector  came in said nice work for Darren's scope but then walked down my garage looking for things to fine me for violations.  We were shocked that they could do that, I just bought the house so this is stuff I had nothing to do with.   Darren was able to work with me to keep any added costs down that this inspector wanted.

We've now found our go-to guy for electrical problems.  We had him in because our driveway lights weren't working.  He quickly found the problem.

We also asked him how much it would cost to put the switch for the lights inside the house instead of out in the garage.  It wasn't unreasonable but it was mite than we wanted to spend right then.  So he thought a bit and came up with a cheaper solution: put a timer on the switch.  We're happy with the solution.

We had him back a second time to fix a doorbell which was every now and then deciding to take some time out.  Both times we've contacted him, he's responded promptly and arrived on time and done good work.  He's also relaxed, friendly and personable.

When I first contacted him, I did so by email and phone.  It was email he responded to, so that may be the best way to reach him.

We would absolutely recommend Darren for electrical work.  He responded to my yelp email immediately and was able to come out and bid a job for us the next day and start the following week on a kitchen renovation project that involved installing a new service panel and rewiring the kitchen for the new appliances and lights.  He very patiently answered all of my husband's questions, was extremely punctual, very responsive to texts and emails and was very tidy.  The City Inspector who came out to do the framing inspection was impressed with how neat Darren's work was and was quick to point out how straight all the wires were and how neatly grouped they were up in the rafters.  We will definitely be using Darren again for any electrical issues.

I had put in a call to my Home Warranty company with an issue with my AC Unit during the recent heatwave and the HVAC Tech that came out told me that the issue wasn't due to the AC system itself but an electrical issue with the breaker the AC was connected to. Unfortunately for me this was something that was not covered by the warranty as it was an issue of improper wiring from the previous owner of the home and I'd have to find my own electrician. The HVAC Tech stated I just needed to have the breaker replaced and the issue would be resolved. I put in a request for a quote online Friday night hoping to get a price range on what I would be looking at for the job. The next morning I got a range of responses from electricians saying that they would need to do a diagnosis to see if it was the actual problem and that could run me $95-$200 alone without the work actually being done and the soonest they could fit me in was Monday or Wednesday the following week. One electrician replied that I would be looking at $750 to get the breaker replaced and new wiring installed from the breaker to the condenser and that didn't include having any sheet rock repaired if that was necessary. Then entered Darren. Rather than rattling off all the possible charges I would have to pay for and how much he charged for a diagnostic he just asked some common sense questions like how long I'd had the ac unit and how long I'd been having the issue.  After a couple replies back and forth and a picture of the label on my condenser Darren told me how much the job would be to replace the breaker and that he could be there in an hour and knock it out. No haggling, no additional charges for work I hadn't asked for, no bs, just what it would run to do the actual work and having it done same day. He showed up and had my AC back up and running within 15 minutes. I appreciate his honestly and directness. There was not even a hint of an attempt to up-sell the work. Just what I asked for and getting it done right and quick. I highly recommend Darren. Good guy.

We had a complete power outage at our house and had PG&E come by to diagnose the problem and turn it back on.  They were able to band-aid the problem and temporarily turn it back on, but said we would have to have an electrician replace our whole panel, which would cost around $1500.

We called Darren at the suggestion of a friend and he was at our house in less than one hour, identified our problem, and fixed it.  Instead of a  $1500 bill, Darren fixed our problem for $125.

He was fast, friendly, and affordable.

I can't thank Darren enough for the wonderful work he did for me and my business partner.  I am a real estate agent, and just 48 hours before the scheduled close of escrow, our seller noticed a GFCI outlet that tripped repeatedly, and then could not be reset immediately.   We couldn't tell whether the issue was simply the outlet or whether there was a larger issue at hand.  I made calls to seven electricians first thing this morning.  Three called back but either didn't work in area or could not accommodate us in a timely manner.  Darren called back, met us 45 minutes later, and had the problem solved in another 30 minutes.  He was careful, tidy and very professional. I will happily call him and recommend him in the future for our clients' electrical needs.  I'm still waiting to hear from the other three companies.

Found Darren on Yelp, and was not disappointed. He came out, took a look at what I needed, and returned a week later to do the work. I had him install a few extra quad outlets in the garage, separate from the rest of the circuits in the house, and beef up the breaker that was constantly flipping in the kitchen.

Full cost of all work done was less than what I initially expected, and the installation went flawlessly. Thanks, Darren!

This is the second time my wife and I have used Darren's electrical services and we are just as pleased this time, as we were last. We had him out here in July of 2013 for a whole laundry list of tasks and all the work performed was flawless at well under the price we had anticipated. This time, we had 4 fans installed. The price was quite reasonable, considering it involved dealing with an attic that has blown-in insulation: He left the place spotless, unlike other folks who have worked up there. Thanks very much, Darren! We look forward to doing business with you in the future!

Had a fairly urgent situation, power off to half the house, no rhyme or reason -- did all the normal things, flipped the breakers off and back on -- searched high and low for GFI plugs to do the same -- nothing seemed to work.  The only thing I could guess was that the breakers themselves were either come loose or were not working -- either way, I know that once the panel gets opened, I leave it to the professionals.  Darren came in, and within 10 minutes, had diagnosed the problem, replaced the breaker with a new set, and was leaving.  I was very impressed.  Will have him back again, to do something that wasn't urgent, hopefully!!!!!

I found Darren here on Yelp,  read reviews and emailed him,  he happened to be in the area and stopped by the house.  We bought a money pit a year ago and the initial inspection did not call out any electric problems, oh were they wrong.  The main service was original and in bad shape, the distribution panel has all sorts of patches and old breakers.  I decided to go with a 200 amp upgrade but all the code requirements drove up the cost.  Darren spent the time to explain it all and propose the solution.   We agreed on the price, he started the job in a few weeks and finished in three days.   I did have some scope creep but Darren took it in stride, we agreed on what to do and it all came out wonderful.  I recommend Darren for any electrical needs you have,  be aware he is a one man show, so be flexible since he is good enough to be very busy.   The key is to get a fixed price bid that covers everything you need done, it will seem expensive but in the end he is very competitive.

At my home, Darren completed extensive electrical work. Specifically, he installed a 220 and multiple GFCIs, rewired outlets, performed comprehensive repairs on the main breaker, and finished many other tasks. Throughout this period, he maintained a professional, trustworthy, and courteous demeanor. He shared information with me that saved me a significant amount of money, especially relative to what I heard from other electricians. As a last note, he is a licensed electrician and certainly knows his field.
