Bellows Plumbing, Heating & Air was founded by father-in-law/son-in-law team Greg Bellows and Jason Schlunt. Although the company launched in Santa Cruz, the owners are long time Marin residents. I have had a furnace replaced then added a dehumidifier and an air conditioner to the home all at different times. I was happy with all three teams so I assume their entire staff is competent.
I subscribe to their maintenance program which includes heat/A-C and plumbing.
The recent techs were competent and friendly. The plumbing technician (from Alabama originally) and Ryan A. were top notch. If you are lucky to have them you will be treated well.
I plan to replace a second HVAC in our home in the next 12-18 months.
I will use Bellows.

So...heater stopped working during these cold front days and found out it was installed in 1995!
From the very beginning Bellowes (who had come very highly recommended) were super impressive. The first visit was the technician coming to give and estimate to fix the current dinosaur. Since that cost was putting good on bad, opted to have estimates done for a new furnace.
Robert came out and was so professional-born to do this job. He provided multiple estimates but first asked questions to learn about what would be the right fit for us...how long were we planning to live in the house etc. Once he was informed he provided six different estimates and walked me through the pros and cons of each one. Felt so good about what was recommended which ended up being the most economical. Robert ensured to put a rush on it knowing we were without heat.
It is installation day! Yay. Michael and Kiernan arrived on time and ready to get to work. They made sure the area was clear (especially since the install was next to my car) and went to work. There were all sort of complexities based on the age of our home and there was literally no detail they did not look at finding solutions for to ensure we would get the most out of our furnace. Outcome is a beautiful new furnace...all the vent outlets were checked and repaired where needed and cleaned! They left the space clean and free from any debris and walked me through the work.
Not the funnest or sexiest purchase but clearly a necessity. Super impressed with the service and work and highly recommend Bellowes to anyone with furnace or water heater issues. Thank you Bellowes!

Our 10 year old Kenmore hot water heater started acting up. I first called another plumber that rhymes with Saratoga. I won't name them. They came over and looked at it and said that's pretty old. There's no parts for that. You need a new one. I wasn't buying so I sent them on their way and Bellows came the next day. They also said it might be hard to find parts so we decided just to do a maintenance on it. He did that and it's worked fine ever since.
Bellows is efficient and thorough. I appreciate that their technician texts when they are coming and includes a photo so you can recognize them when they arrive. I have found all their workers to be very helpful and friendly.
Thanks to Max and his team for the terrific work prepping and installing our new laundry sink. Very professional looking results.

My excellent experience with Bellows continues. It was time for my annual tune up of my mini-splits and Dave, the employee who came to do the tune-up, was very thorough, considerate and proactive in trying to make sure that he addressed all of my questions and that I understood the nuances of the equipment. He was a very friendly and attentive person which is what I have experienced overall with Bellows.
My wife and I had Bellows replace our furnace/air conditioner and water heater with heat pumps. Their bid was very competitive and after meeting with their representative, we gave them the job. We could not be happier with the results. First, the people at Bellows were courteous, friendly, and answered all our questions quickly, and in layman's terms. When they did the work, their people were focused, hard working, and knowledgeable. The took time to explain everything they did. Second, there was a minor glitch with the water heater that Bellows handled quickly. Even though it was over a three day weekend, Casey, one of their representatives came to our home to work on the system. The next day the technicians adjusted the system to work perfectly.

I found out my AC unit was broken just as our 90+ mini heat wave was starting in Novato. I figured this would be a pretty busy time and the earliest most of the 6 companies I called were unavailable until after the heat wave - 3 days later. Fortunately when I called Bellows, one of their technicians finished up another job early and had time to fit us in. Less than two hours after I called, Ryan from Bellows came to diagnose our system. Not only did Ryan climb into the sweltering attic twice to troubleshoot, he was able to identify and correct a grounding issue, and after resetting the system our a/c was up and running again. He also showed us how to reset the system if it ever happened again. We are so grateful for the quick service and cold air. Thank you Bellows plumbing!

MAX with Bellow's Heating & Plumbing was here last week to do the once/year service on my water heater. (This is part of an annual policy I purchased through Bellow's when they installed a new furnace for me last year. BTW: It's been working great!) Back to Max: he's the best! Professional, very knowledgeable, on time, friendly & shared several very useful tips to extend the life of my water heater. He also checked all my toilets for being securely bolted, their water lines in good shape & all sink plumbing for any leaks. Max said he spends most of his time doing regular plumbing for Bellow's. I highly recommend him for any of your plumbing needs!
We had our annual air conditioning maintenance appt today and our tech was Dave Andrews. Dave did a great job---he was timely, courteous and professional. He had excellent customer service skills and did a good job representing Bellows. I was very happy with his work and the time he took to accomplish it.
Additionally, we had our annual on demand hot water heater maintenance and plumbing inspection today. Will was our tech for that and he did a good job too.
Overall I have always been happy with the customer service provided by Bellows and the techs they send out. Keep up the good work!
Review update:
I believe in honest Yelp reviews and Chelsea's description of what happened is not honest or accurate so I felt the need to respond to ensure the Yelp community has the information they need to make the best decisions.
The Bellows' team never told me the heat wouldn't work overnight during the installation and if this were common sense I wouldn't have scheduled this work in the winter when I didn't need to have an AC system working during this time.
The installers also forgot to tell me the heat wouldn't be working overnight when they left on the first day and when I called out of concern for our baby's safety Bellows' told me they would get the heat working first thing the next morning which they didn't do- the heat did not come on until almost 5 pm on day 2 of the installation. My family spent 2 days with no heat in our house during very cold temperatures. It actually is common practice to make it right with a customer by offering a price concession when your company makes numerous mistakes and communications errors during their work and Chelseas chose not to offer anything to try and make it right for their mistakes.
Finally, the installers didn't clean up their work very well and left numerous debris near the installation site including a nail or screw that my dog stepped on.

We had Bellows replace our AC system. The salesperson Pete was very friendly but failed to tell us that our heat wouldn't work for 2 days during the winter with a baby in the house. The General Manager then refused to apologize for not letting us know about this and said it was common sense. They also didn't do a good job cleaning up the site and left a bunch of trash including some nails on our lawn.
Bellows has been great for my heating and air maintenance! Dave Andrews has been exceptionally helpful, punctual, communicative, and professional. My old units are still running well and we are grateful!
Long story short - I needed some work done Bellows sent a technician - Dave Andrews. Not only was Bellows prompt to get the service scheduled - Dave was personable, answered all of my gazillion questions (poor guy probably felt like he walked into a vortex and couldn't get out) worked efficiently then took the initiative to explain what he had repaired and why. I have had other technicians from Bellows but Dave exhibited confidence, patience and did a superior job - thanks again!

I have been in real estate trade for over 25 years and have hired hundreds of tradesman during that time. Unfortunately, I've never had much luck finding a dependable or reasonable plumber until I started working with Bellows. I've hired them to clear drains, install shower valves, repair wall heaters and a new furnace in my house. They have always been professional, punctual and did great work. I would definitely recommend Bellows to any of my friends or family.

We had the worst experience with Bellows from start to finish! It took them a month to do a job that was supposed to take a week. They were messy, damaged our property, unprofessional, rude, not equipped to do repiping, and added things to the bill at the end which was included in the contract. One example is an additional $450 for a permit which was already included in the contract($11,0000) when we signed it. I have included pictures as they speak louder than any words.
My husband is in construction and is very aware of how these things should be handled.
The details are below:
We had Bellows come to our house to replace the old galvanized water lines in our house including the main service from the meter at the street with new copper piping. It was an unfortunate and frustrating process from start to finish. We had a pre job walk through with the technician and called 811 that same day to get the underground survey done before the trenching for the new water service. We were told that once the 811 survey was complete it would take 2-3 days to get scheduled and start the job. With this in mind we sent a deposit and was told that now the job could not start for another 12 days.
Once the job started we were told that it would take a week to complete. Not only did it take 4 times that long, there were numerous issues that came up during the work.
Scheduling issues, and timeline for construction under estimated by a great deal.
Sloppy work, scrap pipe left in trench.
Worker lunch trash left in the yard.
Dirty fingerprints on walls inside and outside of the house.
Workers were leaving for the day on a Friday and as I was looking over what was done, I noticed that the angle stop valve at the toilet was leaking and no hot water coming out of the shower. Luckily I ran out of the house and stopped them from leaving or I would have had a leaky valve at my toilet and no hot water in the shower. We have a small house and only have one toilet and shower so we would have been without hot water in shower and a leak all weekend.
Then I looked in the crawl space and noticed scrap pipe laying around and no insulation on the hot water lines that were supposed to be there.
The blocking behind the bathroom sink was not fastened on both sides so the pipe was able to be pulled out of the wall several inches. I fixed this myself.
They were unable to properly strap the risers at the Kitchen sink, so if the faucet was pulled on it would come away from the wall. This is another item that I had to take care of myself. I understand they are plumbers, not carpenters but simply properly strapping the pipes should be something that they could take care of.
We have old tiles as the backsplash in the Kitchen that we were very concerned about being broken because we would have been unable to find matching tiles if they were damaged. After trying I was told that they could not remove the old pipes without breaking out the tile to do so. I stopped them from doing that and had to get the pipe out myself.
When installing the new faucet at the Kitchen sink they used nipples that were too long causing the faucet to not be able to go flush against the wall.
The pipes at the bathroom sink and toilet were too long causing the angle stops to be off the wall by about two inches, not flush as they should have been.
Plastic liner over the copper main was nicked and damaged, so I had to use tape to repair to avoid the new copper from being exposed to the ground.
When it was time to pay the remaining balance of the bill they added an additional $450 on the bill never telling us this but tried to slip it by us. When I looked into it further it was for permitting but in the initial contract it said all permits were included. The job itself cost over 11 grand and they tried to slip an extra $450 into the bill without us realizing it. So shady! This was definitely a very frustrating experience for us. I would definitely avoid this company at all cost.

He saved me a lot of money, he did repairs and provided insight into the future of my heater. I have worked with several contractors regarding this heater and I can say that following his visit here, I will be committing to working with Bellows going forward. Did not offer a plan or alternative to leaking gas line. Did not inform me how to test for leak. Didn't seem prepared. Spent about one hour looking at situation. My invoice included charge to come to my property plus one hour labor. $290.00. I received no plan other than busy up concrete and look for a gas leak.

I am a regular customer of Bellows, because I am always impressed by their responsiveness, professionalism, and quality of work.
As a maintenance club member I had a Bellows technician (Josh P.) come out and do a regular flush of my water heater. While he was here and the water heater was clearing out he did an inspection of my bathrooms and kitchen. I mentioned to him that my shower head was leaking, but I'd been told previously that without a name and model of the valve cartridge the entire shower plumbing would need to be ripped out and new plumbing installed (which would have included removing a significant amount of tile).
Josh took it as his personal mission to find the cartridge and get it replaced (without destroying my bathroom). Within a couple of days he'd located the correct cartridge and replaced it. I am very thankful for his enthusiasm and willingness to take on (and solve) a tricky problem.

Bellows fixed a problem created by Marin Clean Energy. They went above and beyond for us when our heat went out, and I'm so grateful for that.
MCE offered us a new eco friendly thermostat with a free installation. Unfortunately, the person who installed the thermostat made a mess of the wires behind it, and it resulted in our thermostat acting very strangely and then in our heat going out completely (right when the cold and rain started).
Bellows was sympathetic to our issue, scheduled us as soon as they could, and showed up on time and with a professional attitude. Honestly, the fact that the technician even knew to check behind the thermostat (and offered to help) was a shock and a totally pleasant surprise. Highly recommend!
About a month ago Bellows finished installing a brand-new 3-ton Mitsubishi heat pump at our house and we couldn't be happier with the job well done! The whole installation process was done professionally, and with the highest quality, and with very reasonable pricing, from the initial consultation by Brent, to detailed planning by Russel and the final installation by the crew (Mike V, Alvie and Nacho), thank you all!
We had consulted with many other companies in our South Bay Area before making our final decision, and from our first consultation we knew we could trust Bellows with their quality of work given our big investment in our new heating and cooling system, and we were proved absolutely right!

Ryan, furnace technician came out and quickly resolved an issue with our furnace front panels. The furnace needed a repair a few months ago and the previous tech put the front panel on so tightly and now we couldn't get it off to get to the filter. Ryan explained everything in detail, showed us how to take the panels off and how to put them back on correctly and he even offered to do a short video of the process in case we'd want it. Ryan is a super knowledgeable and personable technician that I highly recommend. I even asked some questions about heat pump systems and he answered all my questions and explained in detail how it all works, how they evaluate for the right system and what the process is for installing it all. I highly, highly recommend Ryan and Bellows for heating and AC needs and repairs.
Our wall heater pilot light went out-required a new part. Ryan was extremely pleasant, professional, and made sure we were taken care of! Definitely recommend.

Title: Honest
If you are looking for an honest and intelligent contractor, Robert is your man.
We were looking to install a split system. After listening to our needs, and doing a through inspection of our current system, instead of selling us, he told us with a few simple modifications to our air flow , we did not need to buy a split . His intention during the entire process was to suggest what was best for our situation. If we ever have a furnace related issue we will call Bellows.
Had a great experience using Bellows Plumbing, Heating, and Air for my furnace that broke down. They had their technician Neil Skilling come by, diagnose the issue, and repair in a timely manner. I was very impressed by the professionalism and will definitely be using Bellows again in the future. Thank you!
This review is a long time coming. In 2019, Jason from Bellows came out to spec an HVAC system for our home and recommended the Mitsubishi heat pump system. Their team came out and did an efficient installation, including some clever problem-solving with rerouting registers upstairs, as well as bringing in an electrician to update our electrical to accommodate the Mitsubishi system.
When the first heat pump began performing irregularly, the Bellows team was highly responsive and accommodating, quickly coming out to help resolve the issue. It became apparent after a couple of visits, though, that they needed to bring out Mitsubishi technicians, who confirmed the pump was failing. Bellows immediately replaced it at no cost to us and the system has been running flawlessly. We are toasty in the winter, and cool in the summer!
At every turn, Chelsea, Jason, Patrick and their amazing team of installers and technicians have been responsive and professional and helpful, and we couldn't be more grateful. Bellows is a top-notch business who know their stuff!
We recently had mini splits installed in our house. We looked at different vendors, but were impressed with our engagement with Bellow's and their professionalism, responsiveness and overall knowledge of their product and service.
I appreciated the communication throughout the process and how easy everything was. The on-site teams were incredibly professional, kind, clean and efficient. The office teams were also very helpful, responsiveness and courteous.

Bellows replaced a 30 year old water heater for me. They were one of the few that agreed to offer an initial quote over the phone, plus a free assessment visit. The initial quote was $3500. At the visit, they saw the additional work needed to get things up to code in my house and bumped it up to $5100. I think the final quote was fair, and was competitive with my other bids, but the original quote was optimistic. Keep that in mind if you have an old house.
The staff who installed the heater were courteous and professional. The installation was done with care and was finished quickly.

I wanted to update my review as Chelsea (the owner) contacted us immediately to get a better understanding of what happened. She was great, acknowledged that we had every reason to be dissatisfied with our experience so far, and made every effort to make sure the work was finished to our satisfaction.
She sent Dave out (the original technician), he finished the outstanding work and we were very happy with how the company responded to our complaint.
Ryan did an excellent job servicing my furnace and a/c. Very prompt, helpful and efficient. I'm so glad I'm using Bellows and hope I'll be seeing Ryan again for this work.

Ryan is fantastic! He did a thorough inspection and cleaning of my air conditioner, my split and my furnace. They look like new! Best servicing they have ever had and I cannot recommend both Ryan and Bellows highly enough. They also did a nice job communicating with me prior to the appointment. I have now had two very positive experiences with Bellows, the first being when they installed my split unit a year ago. Five stars+ from me.
Well my water heater will not fire up. Base on good review I called Bellows plumbing. Basically they just sent me a sales man who wears dress shirt and does not seem like a technician. I believed his only intention is sell me a new heater with no intention of fixing it. He has no part or anything in hand. He basically just turn the switch a few time just try to ignite the heater a few time and see no spark which I could've done then he immediately said is the heating unit need to replace he say part and labor will cost about 2000 dollars to fix it and they don't have the part and it will take 2 week to get it. To me it seems like they try to taking advantage of a water heater is crucial situation, which I could not wait 2 weeks but he strongly recommend me to get a new water heater for 5k and they have the heater in stock can do it next day. Well my heater is about 8 Years old which I spent about 3k in 2014 to replace it. I assume it should at lease worth it to repair it. I just say I need to think about it. So he charge me 149 diagnostic fee that is fine. Then I call another smaller company and got it fixed for 300 dollars same day and he has the parts with him. He say just some part in the ignitor need to change. He felt the heater is in good shape so he say I should repair it.
I am not sure which company is right or wrong but the water heater has been working 2 month now with no issue with this 300 dollars repair from another company. I would assume a 8 years old water heater should at lease repairable with reasonable cost. Maybe it's the inflation but I think 2k just fix the heater and it take 2 weeks to get the part is just highway robbery. Why other company I later use could fix it same day for $300, and while Bellows company could not even offer me any options to get my heater at lease going for now, except wait 2 weeks for the $2k parts and labor or get a 5k heater next day. seems like they just want me to get a new $5k heater from them taking advantage of emergency situation. I also ask the other company I use if I need a new heater how much they will charge me and they say would be about $3500 vs Bellow's $5k heater quote. I previously left the review to wrong branch, so I remove the existing review. The review is for San Rafael Branch. It seems how aggressive their business manager defending any negative review. I encourage supporting this family owned business as they provide exceptional service which shows they value the clients experience. I discovered Bellows plumbing heating and air through Costco when I inquired about a new furnace and AC. Pricing was very competitive for purchase and installation of Lennox systems. Everyone of the Bellows team members in the San Rafael office has been great from Brian in sales to Terry and Adriana in the office to the installation group Del, Joed and Dustin. All of the team members were knowledgable, professional, respectful, paid close attention to detail and were friendly to talk with and explain things throughout the process. It was a great experience and they earned a long term client for my future heating, plumbing or electrical needs.
First rate job from estimate to completion. Everything was explained clearly every step of the way. Installation took three days and the f8nished product (HVAC system) works great.

Big thanks & recommendation for Dave & Ryan for their maintenance furnace check up & additionally finding a heating duct that had been incorrectly installed by a previous contractor: MINUS THE ACTUAL DUCT(!) leaving insulation dust to be blown into house. Unbelievable! Thanks for your work and catching that dangerous problem!!
My furnace wasn't predictively turning on, so I called Bellows. First of all, I got a friendly response! And this has been consistent every time I've had them come over--nice, reasonable, and willing to show me what they are doing. The technician called before he arrived, and wow, was he thorough. He checked everything out, fixed the problem, but also adjusted the propane flow, fixed the exhaust (which I have installed incorrectly) and pointed out some problems I was going to have with my hot water heater (which was next to the furnace). He spend quite a bit of time, explaining to me what he was doing, and . . . Now we have a furnace that works and is warmer!! Many thanks.
I used Bellows to install our entire HVAC system, including replacing the ducts, on our ancient system. There were a few incidents that occurred but they stood by the project and made everything right. I continue to use them for the annual maintenance on my system and today I had the best experience to date with Ryan. We've even scheduled to have some additional work done, we even signed up for their BAM program. If you need HVAC stuff, use Bellows! Highly recommended.

We moved into our new home (built in 1939) needing a new heater, water heater and bathroom fans. We had a number of bids for this work, all around the same price range, and went with Bellows primarily because of Robert Mitchell. His wide knowledge, care and low pressure were deeply reassuring. The crews that came to do the work were exemplary, particularly Matt and Pierce who installed the water heater, and Michael and Kiernan who installed our heat pump. Both teams were extremely professional. Micheal and Kiernan spent a week in our house and couldn't have been more respectful and accommodating. The quality of these teams spoke volumes to us about the company in general. We will return to Bellows for any heating or plumbing needs. We couldn't have made a better decision for this very substantial investment.
Ryan was great to work with. He thoroughly cleaned and inspected both the furnace and heat pump. He also took time to show me how to configure the thermostat to maximize my dual fuel system. I highly recommend him.
This company is great... totally professional and reliable. My furnace went out on a Sat night. I called and reached someone on Sun. A new replacement unit had to be ordered, and even with supply chain problems, they received the unit and installed it on Mon, one week later.
Estimates and billing were done immediately via email, and making payment was quick and easy.
Definitely call these folks! You won't be disappointed.

Ryan came out to diagnose my heater. he was Fast, efficient and superb with communicating exactly what was going on. highly recommend Ryan.
Very quick response to our Super Bowl weekend call regarding issue with our furnace. Ryan Avila came before noon on Monday to inspect and detect the problem. He did a complete inspection of the unit, which did not exhibit the problem (a burning smell) when he started it up and let it run for a while. He suspects it is the ECM motor that is going bad. We will monitor it in the coming months and see if it needs replacement. We were extremely happy with Ryan's knowledge and the service he provided.

So far, so good! Everyone from Bellows has been very friendly and helpful in the project estimation and setup phase (installing a new mini-split system in our Eichler). Our system hasn't been installed yet, but the Bellows team has set up this whole project seems for success in a very professional way. Also, their quote was the best of the four that we received - and this, for top-of-the-line Mitsubishi equipment. We also really like that they're a Diamond-certified installer.
I'll post an update once my job has been completed...
We Would like to thank Neil Skilling and his crew in coming to our house to fix our heater before Christmas. They took there time to check everything even went into detail on what was happening with our heater. Our heater just stopped working and of course we had tried everything to get it going but it didn't work. Needed a new motor. Neil got the part for us and fixed and now we are all toasty warm before the holidays. Thank you again for saving us from the cold.

Our heat pump purchase and installation experience with Bellows was great from start to finish. Bryan was knowledgeable and patient and made sure I was fully informed on all my options. Del, the install manager, worked with me to figure out the best configuration, and the technicians, Sean and Ricardo couldn't have been nicer or more professional. Ricardo even did me a small favor unrelated to the install. The administrative staff facilitated the followup regarding inspections and permits in a truly efficient and timely way. I can't image a smoother process or nicer people to deal with. Not to mention how pleased we are with a high quality product that meets our very high standards.
We've had multiple issues with the HVAC unit that was installed by Bellows. That part doesn't bother me (stuff happens) but I've now twice had to pay a $150 diagnostic fee to have someone come out to inspect the issue. Given the initial installation cost I would expect better service on minor follow ups.

Our water heater had a slow leak, who knows how long it was happening before we noticed it. Unfortunately it is located in a closet between the bathroom and the bedroom. We had three plumbers out before calling Bellows. All three of them said it was questionable if it would pass code/inspection and it was basically going to be an expensive nightmare to move it - if that could even be done. Thankfully I found Bellows via Yelp. Jose Rivas was the lead plumber they sent out. Unlike the other plumbers he was completely unfazed by the situation.
He laid out our options and explained what was involved without any of the dramatic scare tactics or hyperbole the others used. An hour after he left, he emailed detailed estimates to me. I really liked he sent 4 versions with varying options such as extended warranty, etc. I also liked that they had an online approval process. Everything was clearly documented and email confirmed.
Once I approved the work I really appreciated Bellows took care of everything, from the minor drywall repairs to fix the water damage to the permit with the city and then after work was complete they even scheduled the inspection.
It relieved a tremendous amount of stress to know from start to finish the details were being taken care of. Jose was EXCELLENT at patiently answering all my questions and explaining things to me throughout the process. I could not be happier with my experience and the end result!!!

Efficient, reasonable pricing, quality work, friendly!
We recently had a major plumbing project to install a property line cleanout and replace some of the drainage systems in the house. Jennifer was AWESOME - she was knowledgeable and was thoughtful and transparent with her recommendations, she was also hilarious and overall one of the main reasons we went with Bellows over a few other bids we received. Pricing was also reasonable especially since they're a reputable company. Shout out to Nathan, Carlos, Alfonso, Eddie, and Hector for completing the work on schedule (only took 3 days for a major project including the inspection) and for making the process easily - always came to the door to let us know when they were getting started, warned us before they needed to turn off the water and when it was back on, got through inspection with no issues, and cleaned up at the end of each day and at the end of the project. Super appreciate Bellows and would highly recommend.

We had them install a new furnace. All of their staff was courteous and professional. The estimator was very informative and talked extensively about options. The installers were very neat and clean. We didn't have to do any cleanup after they left.
The new furnace and smart thermostat work great and the furnace fan doesn't make any noise.
We couldn't be more pleased. The pricing was competitive and the service was excellent.
I called and said I need a kitchen faucet installed. They scheduled the service. I asked how much it would cost. They said the service call will start at $150-250 around there. I said ok. They show up and say that it will cost $500 total and what I was quoted was just to make the service call but doesn't include the work for installing the faucet. I don't see why they could not have given me an estimate for the work and set my expectations correctly. I think $500 for installing a faucet that took them about 20 minutes is very expensive. But also just should have been told. On the plus side the work was done and fine job.

I would recommend this company to everyone. The crew, Richard and Michael who did my heating and duct work were wonderful. They were polite and did great work. They were knowledgable and kept me advised of any changes. Patrick and Chelsea in the office were prompt and efficient with responses to my email. The work area was kept neat and the job was done in a timely manner. We are just working on a few adjustments which I feel are not unusual with a new system.

I received a call from the management company, that there was a leak coming from the water heater from my unit in the complex. I decided to use Bellows Plumbing, which was family owned and close by. I asked for a ballpark estimate for the cost of replacement and disposal of the old hot water heater. I was told that it was not their policy to give estimates over the phone and it would be a $149 service call for a technician to stop by to evaluate. Big mistake. After I met with him, I received an email with the total cost and breakdown of parts and labor. $4,600 !!! When reviewing why the cost was as high as it was, I saw that I was being charged $240 for a brass shutoff valve, that the same valve costs $20 at the local hardware store. The same for a drain pan, $204 from them, versus $22 at the hardware store. I don't begrudge anyone from making a reasonable markup, but their padding was totally ridiculous. I ended up calling another plumber and it was completed at a fraction of the cost. Yes, they got my $149 for the nonrefundable service call, but when I'm asked if I can recommend any plumbers, they would be the bottom of my list. Sometimes companies can be penny wise and pound foolish.
I cannot say enough positive words about the Senior Comfort Advisor, Robert Mitchell, that was at our house today. After living in a house for 13 years, every time we used the heater or AC, it would blow out the pilot light in our water heater. I've lost count, but Robert was either the 6th or 7th person to come out and try to figure out why this was happening. Not one person had a clue as to why this was happening. We thought we were preparing to purchase a new unit when Robert arrived. He asked if he could try to figure out, first, what might be causing this to happen. He quickly discovered the problem, fixed it, and was on his way. This unit will not last forever, and we now know who we will call when it is time to replace it!

An update, the installation is done and we're very happy with it. Del, Tyler, and Eric, efficiently installed our new air conditioning unit, water heater and furnace, and got it all set up on schedule. They also hired electricians to run wire from the furnace to the AC and that went smoothly too. I highly recommend their services to anyone in the market for them!
We had a bit of a surprise when it turned out the vent in the garage I mentioned in my prior review, that Andrew had said they'd include for us, was not written in the final plan despite being promised to us verbally. It turns out that the vent he suggested would have been against code. When we went to follow up with Andrew to clarify the matter, it turned out that he had left the company since signing our deal. That was a concerning note to start the installation on, and we did feel a little misled by it all, and made us wonder whether any of the other things Andrew had told us were true, like that we needed an especially expensive air conditioning unit to meet code. However, the actual installation went very smoothly and we're quite happy with the work that was done.
I think Bellows is a good company, but don't ever cancel a furnace contract with them. In the contract, it says the permit costs $475. and that is what you have to pay them if you cancel. I canceled because it took too many months to get the furnace installed. I signed the permit November 4, 2021.
There was not an appointment for installation until the middle of the heavy rains we had over the holidays. We had to put in a new vent hole in the roof ourselves for this furnace, because it was not code to share the water heater vent.
It was pouring rain, and I did not want my son up on the roof doing this work. It was very cold in the house, and I am in my 70's. I got tired of waiting and my son, an aerospace engineer, managed to fix our existing furnace and get it running again. The City of Novato charged $93.23 for the permit, but Bellows adds an additonal $381.77 for their time in selling the furnace, and coming out to see how they were going to install it, and requesting the permit.
It's in the contract that they charge $475 for the permit, so read that line carefully if you decide to go with them. You are obligated to pay that, and of course, I did. Patrick waived a restocking fee for the furnace, so I have to be grateful for that. By the way, Bryan was a personable and knowledgeable salesman/technician. It just took way too long from signing the contract to getting the furnace installed.
The new furnace was to be $13,278.00 and although it may be more efficient than the old one we have, it will take 25 years to break even with the savings I was promised. And, I suspect these new furnaces are not even designed to last that long. I was more than ready to buy a new furnace when the house temperature was in the 50s, but when I was warm again, I started to look at this in a new light.
Bellows is probably one of the better HVAC businesses around here, but I think they have more business than they can handle right now. The summer might be a better time to initiate this process.
Bellows just installed central AC and completely re-ducted our house. Their price was reasonable, their employees (Eric and Alexis) were exacting, affable, and neat, and their office is very easy to deal with. Highly recommended.
We have been using Bellows for 14+ years for heating, AC and water heater needs. They have always been fantastic and this time was no different. John Costales inspected our ancient gas wall heater and discussed options with me. This thing is so old it could probably be placed in a museum at this point and it is filthy, so it is time to replace it. John was great and even received cat approval from both of our cats, which is not normal for them!
We had a 2 year decision-making process for what to do with our HVAC, and Pete at Bellows went above and beyond giving us estimates for varying options and talking us through it. Originally we just wanted to add air conditioning to our existing gas furnace, but later we asked about replacing our old furnace as well, and Pete suggested an electric heat pump instead of conventional AC. Long story short, his suggestions were spot on, the install crew was fantastic, and the end result is better than we imagined. The city inspector was impressed, and when I told him it was Bellows, he knew their work and also had positive comments about them in general. I have no hesitation recommending them.
Bellows and Plumbing did in amazing job, they replaced 80ft of heating ducts in our crawl space. I don't really know how they were able to do it but they accomplished the job. No mess, clean work. Robert and Renee were very professional and really down to earth. Sweet guys!
We called other Heat and plumbing companies. They stood us up. Not Bellows Plumbing. They did everything they said they do.
I recommend them highly!!!!

Our system was clogged up and we were bailing water out of our shower to prevent flooding into our home. After trying to plunge the system ourselves, we decided it was time for the pros to step in. I googled them online and gave them a call in the morning. They scheduled a technician to come out in the afternoon. In the blink of an eye, our pipes were cleared and we were good to flush again!

We were looking for central AC/heat and a mini-split AC/heat to be installed in our home. We received several estimates before deciding to go with Bellows, and we are so glad that we did. In short, 5 stars. Hire them.
First, Pete, our salesman, spent over an hour with me on the day he came out to give us an estimate. He was so kind, thorough, and really took his time to inspect the site and come up with a couple of the best plans for our layout. The other companies were here for maybe 5-10 minutes and one even told us the job couldn't be done. Pete took the time to educate me and also really get a grasp of what our goals were for the project so he could make the best laid plan.
Second, Robert and Michael were our installers. They were also kind, thorough, and paid a lot of attention to the details in the aesthetics of the work. It wasn't an easy job because of the configuration of our furnace space etc., but they made it work well. Robert took the time to review each step of the project with me before moving forward to ensure we were pleased with the placement/aesthetics of all the parts. He also offered options so we could really choose what would work best for us. Lastly, he took the time to do a thorough walk through at the end to ensure I understood all parts of the system and if I had any remaining questions.
The work looks better than I expected frankly. Wires/hoses hidden as best as could be and cleaned up after their work every day. And most importantly for me, during COVID, they obliged by all guidelines with masks/booties etc which was very very much appreciated. Thanks for making us feel safe.
Overall, everything was excellent. The only one downside is that they did book the project out a couple of months and we had to wait a while, but it was also incredibly hot this summer so I think all companies were jam packed with installs for AC and this probably could not have been helped.

We schedule an appointment for the installation of a new Nest Thermostat.
Let me start by saying I had already hooked the Nest plate to wall and everything but I just couldn't figure the cable connection part and thought I might need another cable to be ran through the wall.
Aside from that my heating was working normal so was our furnace, we were making it work by twisting the 2 main cables together. This had been working for us since forever.
It was a hassle because we would have to manually turn it off. But it was working.
Out technician show up I showed him where the Nest in the wall was.
No questions whatsoever were asked by him. Other than where the furnace was.
He then proceeded to work on it I suppose and test cables according to him. He was going up and down from the nest to the furnace (two story house) in one of those he almost completely knocked off a safe baby door we have in the stairs.
Accidents happen of course but at least just say sorry I knocked it down how do you put it back. Anyways not why I'm writing this.
After a while I come upstairs and asked how is it going he tells me that the switch or main board was probably burnt or had blew.
I was surprised because we literally had just turned off the heater as soon as we got the text message that he was on his way. We did that to make it easier for him to connect the cables.
Little did we know was the last time our furnace was going to work. I don't know what he touched or moved but now I'm $100 short for nothing. Worst than that he estimated the board replacement at $400 to $700 so instead of getting something fixed we got the furnace and the heating to be completely ruined and non working.
Both cover panels from the furnace where taken off to inspect it and they were not even screwed back properly instead the logo of the brand of our furnace almost comes off.
We followed up with their management and they pretty much told us that we had been the ones that fried the furnace: wsays a lot about them.
Would definitely not recommend them. Stay away from them. They don't seem to be professional nor experienced with new thermostats or furnaces at all.
UPDATE: after we posted this review the same day we got a call from an angry lady just to tell us Again that it was all our fault and that her technician didn't do anything wrong. She didn't even acknowledged half of the issues I wrote about.
Anyways I hope the way you do businesses takes you farther.
And by the way if you base the value of your business on 84 positive yelp reviews and that's your main argument that 84 of your clients didn't have a problem with your company, awesome I don't doubt it, but the real challenge is when you're at fault as a company and do little to nothing to fix it. But if that works for you great and keeps on bringing you business and clients good for you. Good luck.

I've had three other plumbers and drainage companies visit to help find a leak and they all failed. Jose found the problem in 20 minutes.
Matt and Tyler are awesome! They showed up on time, efficient, and did an amazing job. I was super busy working upstairs on the day they attended to our plumbing needs. They kept me informed of the status via text, like when water will be on or off. They didn't just turn off the water main all along for their convenience. Plus they were super clean and neat. I didn't even need to clean up afterwards. No doubt I will use them again. Top notch!
We didn't know what was going on with our heating. Thought it may be a thermostat, duct, damper or overall furnace issue. Richard came and listened to what was going on before trouble shooting and figuring it out. Was expecting a more involved or expensive fix but he was able to tinker and solve our issue. We will be calling them again!

I have used Bellows over the last two years for multiple service calls and every time they have been, on time, kind and professional. They are very knowledgeable and have always answered every question I have had, which is a lot. I am continually impressed with their service.
This time Robert and Sean came out to install a new AC unit and they somehow exceeded my already high expectations the previous employees had set. They were knowledgeable and easy to talk to and they were respectful of my wife sleeping as well as the kids and cats running around. They even helped me with an irrigation issue I was having which was not in their job description at all.
I really appreciate every aspect of Bellows Plumbing and consider them the gold standard. The more I have had them come out to work on things at our house and the more employees I meet of theirs, I can see the quality the company provides and expects. And all of the employees seem very happy to work there! I think that speaks a lot to the way the company is run. If your employees are happy and enjoying the work they do, they will provide a good service and have a good day of presence.
I actually just approved another job I'm going to have them do soon for my water heater. Looking forward to having them out again soon.

Bellows hit another home run! Joe of Scotts Valley CA. here to report our satisfaction with the Bellows HVAC team. Bellows was contracted to enhance a 27-year-old heating and AC systems. Never easy to merge new technology with old. After an earlier detailed assessment and inspection of our system by Bellows a plan was developed and approved.
July 9th, Bellows HVAC technicians, Mike Podielski and new to the Bellows team John Costales, technician. John tackled the hard pipe duct/damper and all wiring and new control panels. Mike work under the house on another hard pipe duct/damper.
Mike Podielski is without question, a highly trained and skilled field technician.
John Costales is an 8-year technician professionally trained. Within minutes we could see the we were in great hands. Old and new technologies are never easy to merge.
These two guys confronted the task with open minds and a can do attitude.
I could go on and on but by now you should know, the Bellows team hit a home run.
Our 27-year-old home is now with a modern HVAC system and WORKS! AWSOME!
Oh, by the way, Mike and John are two very cool cat. A joy to work with. When there is difficulty, they both have a get out of my way look in their eyes. But they give a feeling the all will work out. And it does.

I received a speedy email reply in 30 mins. and I placed a follow up call for more questions. The young lady on the line (Bianca?) was very friendly, but I think she was in training and had to fumble a bit for answers.
I very much appreciate that she would say, let me check instead of guessing or brushing off the questions. She quoted a possible service date and price.
I let her know that I would call around for a sooner service date and get back to her.
I received a call back a few minutes later and she apologetically told me they were not able to accommodate the service quoted but she offered me the name of another provider who might.

I had an excellent all around experience with Bellows and would highly recommend. My recently purchased Marin house has radiant floor heating, and I was looking to add air conditioning for the hot summer months. I evaluated a few vendors and Bellows provided the best solution. Robert and Rene were my awesome installers. They were professional, friendly, and communicated what they were doing throughout each day, which was both helpful and educational. The end product is excellent and they finished on schedule.
We had a great experience working with Bellows to install a cleanout and inspect a sewar lateral. After calling several companies, we chose Bellows after speaking to Jennifer. She is an excellent communicator, clearly knows her trade, and went above and beyond to make sure the job was done right. Her colleagues were happy to answer our questions, always courteous, and we couldn't be happier with the outcome!
I had to find immediate plumbing service and was very anxious and flustered. However, by the time I got of the phone with Carlos (I'm customer service) I was so relieved. He was very professional; his demeanor and how he handled my problem of scheduling someone to come out was very calming. I would definitely use this company again.

Hat's off to Bellows and AC Tech, Trey.
Bellows installed our new Lennox heater and AC unit a little over a year ago. Heater was serviced earlier this year, runs perfect. With the early outbreak of hot weather, thought it was time to check the AC.
11:00 AM appointment. Trey arrived early with his service equipment, ready to start. Showed him the AC unit, and a couple of other small issues. Trey quickly resolved the small issues and did a tech check and service on our unit.
Ready for Summer with our AC system purring. We love our cold air.

These guys are great at what they do, honest, and committed to customer service. We had some trouble with the local inspector and these guys stuck with us through the whole process making sure everything was done just right and taking the time to communicate with us at each step so we knew what was going on. Pro grade hot water installation a couple months ago and a fantastic AC installation today from Robert and Sean...AKA the most bad a** AC install team ever. I will be using Bellows for a plumbing job next month. Highly recommend.
Bellows communication, professionalism, and apparent expertise were obvious, and I'd wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone with the means to afford the very best. But, to even receive an estimate cost $99, and their estimates were 2x the prices quoted by the plumber we eventually hired. I would have loved to work with Bellows, but couldn't afford the premium.

Our furnace stopped working at night, when it was very cold. We called Bellow's the next morning and they were able to come out quickly, at 8am the next morning.
Kenta was great, very courteous and professional! We had other technicians from other companies come out about the issue before, but were never able to diagnose the problem... the issue was with the torch power cycling and would come and go (so would appear to be working until later). We had an in home estimate . We wanted to relocate a return vent out of a bedroom into a larger space (living room or hallway) cause it's common sense you don't want a return vent behind a closed door and especially in a bedroom - they're loud and need to breath. We also wanted a quote on an AC unit and install. After 5 weeks of waiting for the actual estimate we got:
Your return vent is fine where it is - no, it's not
Just the AC unit for your single story, 1100 sqf home will cost $9,000 not including installation (the duct work was already installed)
We'll have to put the AC unit in the driveway, cause it's the only legal location - actually turns out that's the only place we can't put it because of legal easement issues.
Whys your furnace under the house in the large raised crawl space ...because it makes sense..?
I couldn't be more upset with this company! I have both AC Units broken so extreme heat in the house with no ability to open windows because of the air quality from the fires and two small children in the house. They scheduled the appointment a week out (which is understandable since they are busy). Then called me the next day that they had other emergency calls and needed to reschedule to the afternoon (instead of morning) the same day as original. A week later (on the appointment day, they call me and say that the scheduled technician can't come out that day because he has a personal emergency but they will get another technician to come out either same day or the next at the latest. They promised to call me back. Nobody called so I had to call them at the end of the day. The lady that picked up took my info and said she will pass along my concern and mark it Urgent. An hour later I get a call back and they start re-scheduling my appointment saying that the earliest they have is another week out... so here I am having waited for them for a week and now they want me waiting another week because they can't get organized. Meanwhile my two small kids are sweating at home unable to go outside or breathe fresh filtered air. I will NEVER do business with Bellows and will deter anyone who inquired about them!

I haven't even used their service yet and am already impressed by the knowledge and professionalism of their staff. When I told them what the problem with my gas wall heater was (shutting itself off randomly) they suggested a likely problem which sounds like it may very well be what has been causing it to shut itself off (wind coming down the flue). There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the heater itself and several contractors have inspected it. One suggested it might be the venting but that's as far as their investigation went. We live in an extremely windy spot above the San Francisco Bay and it would make sense that we need some kind of wind cap to prevent false reads on the sensor. I have confidence Bellows will finally get this issue resolved for us.
I am thrilled to discover that Robert Mitchell is now working with Bellows. Robert some years ago oversaw the installation of our fancy heating/hot water system. Our system is very complicated as it includes solar, PG&E electric, under-floor radiant heating and an Altherma, which is some kind of complicated heat exchanger. Robert not only grasped the ins and outs of it all, he was wonderful to work with and more than fair in billing. Having landed Robert, Bellows is now at the top of my list. If they weren't a well-run, ethical company, Robert wouldn't be there.
We had a Generac Generator installed this week by Bellows Plumbing. I am an attorney and at times am not an easy person to work with because of my demanding expectations. From start to finish each person who worked the job was professional. Jose oversaw the generator installation and was extremely knowledgeable about the installation and meeting our special needs for the generator's placement. The field crew was in and out and got the job done. They arrived promptly when they said they would arrive. They did not let the scorching heat stop or slow them down with the install. They left the job site clean. Vance, the electrician on the job, was extremely competent and pleasant to work with. I highly recommend the Bellows team.
We just had a new furnace system installed and couldn't have been happier with how it all went. Robert Mitchell, the sales guy, was very knowledgeable and gave me a bunch of tips on work I could do ahead of time in removing the old system to keep our costs down. Robert Wolf, the installer, was diligent and hard-working, as well as a creative problem-solver which allowed him to work within the constraints of the space to make everything work the way we wanted it to. They, as well as the other members of the crew who were involved were all very courteous, flexible, and communicated regularly with us. Since this work was going on during the COVID shelter-in-place while I was teaching from home and our three kids were taking classes, they were great at working around our school schedule to do quiet work during class time and louder work when we weren't in class. They also installed a plumbing cleanout for us, which was a smaller job, but equally well done. I would definitely use them again if I needed other HVAC or plumbing work!
I reached out to Bellows via their on-line chat and they were really quick to respond to the chat. After a few questions regarding my needs, they took down my information and said a technician would follow up with me. After a couple of hours, someone reached out to me by phone, text and email to help me assess the situation (which was bubbling noises in the walls after flushing the toilet). Everyone was super courteous and helpful. They were able to send technicians to my house the very next day. The technicians (Will and Bix) called me 15-20 minutes prior to give me an ETA on their arrival. Both had PPE masks and shoe booties for when they walked into my home. They were very knowledgeable, efficient and answered all my questions. I was able to make the payment for their services with the technicians and an invoice was sent immediately. I would highly, highly recommend their services! If I have any more plumbing issues, Bellows will be my first call!

Richard from Bellows was great to work with for our hvac needs. He is very knowledgable, professional and personable. He explained some of the nuances of hvac process to me in a clear, understandable manner. Couldn't recommend more.
I would recommend Bellows. While the repair did not go perfectly, Bellows was willing to set things right when I explained what the problem was. The furnace is now working perfectly and I am very satisfied with the result. I rated my experience a 5 because they responded immediately to my concerns.

This is a complete lie from Chelsea. Yes they have now come back out to try to fix the problem but only after many many months, a complaint with the contractors board that they are investigating and with the San Rafael building department on my side.
If and only if bellows fixes the problem correctly I will drop my complaint with the contractors State license Board.
Chelsea is the most unpleasant condescending human being I've ever had the miss fortune of dealing with. And she has no idea what she's talking about.

I sent them an email via their website right before new year & I got a call the next day. We scheduled a day for someone to come out which happened to be NYE. I asked if we would be charged more since it was NYE & the lady said no it was a regular day for them. I had thought the leak I called about was coming from the bottom of my toilet, but when the plumber got there he said it was the waterline that needed replacing. He went to his shop, got the part & came right back to swap it out. We also had him look at the leak from the bathtub spout but he said we might be opening a can of worms & he may not of been able to get it back in working order because the spout was frozen on. He could have taken it off & charged us an arm & leg to fix it. I feel he was very honest & fair and I would definitely use Bellows again. Their prices were surprisingly reasonable.

We had a clog in our kitchen sink a few weeks ago and called Bellows. They were quick to come out (even during shelter in place), had protective equipment (masks, etc) and the gentlemen that came out was awesome. Super efficient, friendly, knowledgeable. The clog was REALLY far down our pipes and Jose (?) figured it out quickly, fixed it and then gave us recs for how to prevent clogs from happening again. Would 100% hire this company again. Thank you!!
Fast reply, and the service from Jose was absolutely excellent. He went out of his way to come back quickly with a different snake and got the job done. My only complaint is that it was expensive, but that's generally par for the course with plumbing.

Revising my original review from 4 stars to 5. The issues I had incorrectly attributed to the Bellows install crew turned out to be the fault of a minor product line defect from the HVAC manufacturer. Throughout the 5 month troubleshooting process, Bellows came to my house more than 10 times. The service, and the ultimate resolution was exceptional. I would hire Bellows again in a heartbeat. Their integrity is second to none.

Summer is here and we're so glad that we called Bellows to install our new air conditioning system. The initial estimate and explanation of options was very clear - they're responsive via email as well as phone. And we were able to schedule the installation while we were on vacation. We couldn't be happier with Chelsea and the Bellows team!
Scheduled to come give a quote and never showed up. Didn't call or notify us. Very disappointing for a company with good reviews. Made me wonder if that was real peoples experience?
Very nice and efficient! Good communication too. They worked for a while on my very old unit, and I ended up having to get a new unit, but they clearly tried all the steps to repair my old unit. I appreciate their hard work in the heat and quick responses!
Service does not get better than what Andrew provided. After the power shut off from PG&E, the surge when they turned on the power caused our AC to go out. Andrew figured the breaker burnout and he was right. But the AC still didn't work. He came back the next day even though he was having and extremely busy day and figured out the connector had burned out on the AC. At the end of his day he ran to a parts store and made it there 3 minutes before it closed came back and fixed our AC. After two nights of no AC, Andrew saved us from poor sleep again. He is an asset to Bellows. Thank your Andrew!
We hired Bellows for a new furnace and water heater. At the onset it was clear that they are great. Jason came by for the initial quote, answered a lot of my big questions clearly and completely. We delayed our project a few months to work out the financing, and Jason came back out once we were finally ready to get the project completed.
Patrick and Chelsea in the office were able to schedule the install on back to back days to minimize the disruption this kind of work causes. Both were extremely helpful in coordinating the work around my schedule.
Project 1 was the furnace install. Spencer was the project manager and was great to work with. He was extremely helpful explaining the plan for the install, asked and answered questions.
Project 2 was the water heater install. I didn't think it was possible, but Jose was just as awesome. He communicated all the work and asked questions, and clearly let me know when the water and gas would be off.
Both projects ended with great results. The workmanship is top notch, and the personal interactions and communication was better than most contractors I've dealt with.
We are probably getting our AC replaced in the future, and will definitely be going straight to Bellows for that project.

Bellows came to my home to redo the duct work in the garage after having asbestos removed. They did an awesome job and the new ducts look great! They were friendly, efficient, and left the space clean. They made sure everything was working before they left and helped me uncover all the vents inside my home. I highly recommend Bellows.

It is isn't that often that every single aspect of a large contracting job goes perfectly. But from the very first call to Bellows Plumbing to inquire about installing a new furnace, air conditioning and replacing the duct work, everything was 5 star! Our estimator, Pete was out right on schedule and took an hour to closely review our home as well as crawling under the house. We discussed different options and together came up with the package that was best for us and at a fair price. We felt no pressure to buy and there was no upsell. Patrick in the office was great with the scheduling and answered all my many questions as the installation date grew near. But the real treat for us were the installers. Robert and Sean were the nicest, most competent, and most customer friendly contractors we have ever had working on our home. They clearly knew their work to perfection, and the results showed. But more than that, they were considerate, patient and always professional. Their efforts to make sure we were comfortable with them being in and around our house for several days and their desire to make sure we were satisfied at every step was clearly evident. And as I said, the results of the job was excellent. We are so happy with our new HVAC system from Bellows Plumbing.

I could not be happier with the customer service and diligence of Bellows Plumbing. Our 30-year-old heaters finally gave out right in the midst the coldest winter in years, so we called in a few different bids to repair/replace them. Jason, Chelsea, and Del at Bellows Plumbing gave us our lowest bid backed by some serious experience. When they told me the $300 repair of our heater would likely fail in a month or two, they took the time to go through and explain all the various options, from repairs to full replacement.
In the end we chose a hybrid replacement/installation. We had to rip out a bunch of venting and install new heaters and an A/C unit--no small task. When time came for the multi-day installation (in 30 degree weather), Del coordinated the entire install such that the heaters were always hooked up for the night, leaving us nice and warm. No hiccups, very well-executed project.
A few weeks after the final installation was complete, we noticed one of the new thermostats bugging out. Bellows sent someone out the next day to install a brand new, upgraded thermostat for no charge. I'd recommend Bellows to anyone in the area in need of great service!

We arrived home from vacation with our heating and hot water turned off due to a suspected leak. We called one of the bigger companies and they weren't able to help. Bellows responded immediately to our inquiry, even though it was a weekend. Their office staff were friendly and helpful and when the plumber arrived, he was very efficient, knowledgeable, careful and courteous. He discovered that our flue had been removed which could have had serious consequences and advised us appropriately and replaced it. We had a problem with our disposal and kitchen sink. Matt and his associate Jeff arrived on time wearing masks and shoe coverings. They had already read about a previous issue we had when we moved into this house a few months ago. They worked safely, quickly and reinstalled the the disposal and improved the water pressure in the kitchen faucet. They also checked out an issue with a toilet and made a quick repair. Bellows has excellent customer service, the gentlemen were professional and friendly. Within minutes, they sent over more details and a quote on a future project. We highly recommend Bellows.
I had a clogged kitchen sink pipe that I was unable to fix with my 25 foot snake, so I had to call for a professional. Bellows assigned Corbin Russell to the job. I used bellows last year to replace the guts of my toilet. It was a fairly straightforward job, but a year and a few weeks later, the same problem started again. They made an exception to their guarantee policy and sent john out to replace the part.

From start to finish it was a first class experience. Richard and Spencer were two of the nicest guys you're likely to meet. Total professionals and they did a fantastic job. My house is like any older Fairfax / San Anselmo building with a floor plan that started small and grew. Each addition being done in isolation to the overall house plan. So working around the 'uniqueness' of my house was quite a challenge. They worked really hard to minimize the increased amount of space taken up by a fully functional well vented system, vs the underfed system we had in the past. The result is outstanding - the house heats up in a fraction of the time and is heated evenly throughout. I can't wait to test the A/C! Thanks Bellows!
Couldn't deal with these hot north Marin summers anymore so we finally started looking into AC. Had estimators come out twice from Costco, but never got any bids or estimates after they came to check out our home. They also primarily pushed the mini split systems, which can work great for cooling a few rooms, but gets very expensive and likely would have challenges cooling an entire house without a unit in each room.
Contacted Bellows instead and Jason was out that week and provided numerous better options to cool our entire home that really helped save us money. He helped us to dial in what would be best for our situation, being honest when a more expensive option wouldn't provide any additional benefit, helping us to invest our money where it would make the most difference.
Del did fantastic work with the install and it now feels like we have a brand new home! Everyone with Bellows has been extremely friendly and the whole process was relaxed couldn't have gone better!

Integrity, quality work and nice staff (office and field). During a standard line inspection in the process to sell our house, it was discovered that the band that connects the house sewer line to the sewer line that goes from sidewalk to central line on street was broken. Roots were getting in the gap. This is an expensive repair. When Bellows performed the repair and it took longer than they had estimated, they absorbed the difference and did not invent an excuse to make me pay. I value this integrity and commitment to honoring their own quote. This keeps me as a customer. I've used Bellows for several years for small jobs (plumbing and heating). This was the first big job I used them for and I'm glad I did. I'll still be in area after I move and I plan to keep them as my go to company for Plumbing, Heating and Air.

The team at Bellows were super helpful from start to finish. They organized asbestos abatement to remove all our ancient ducting and installed beautiful new R8 ducting in the attic.

Bellows is GREAT. They're SO competent & respond immediately. We've used them several times. Prior to that, we used several different companies trying to find the right combination of responsible, respectful, professional, & competent. Bellows is the ONLY company to meet each & every requirement.
Bellows installed AC for us and replaced our furnace and water heater. It is an excellent company. Our salesman, Tom, was extremely knowledgeable and I let him know the budget I had set and he drew up several options for me, carefully explaining the advantages and disadvantages of each. He was always quick with email replies to my questions and helpful when I needed to meet the tough requirements of my annoying HOA. There were no surprises with Bellows. The installation took the exact amount of time that we were told and we paid the exact amount we were quoted. We easily passed our inspection with the city and even the inspector acknowledged that they were an excellent company. I highly recommend Bellows.
I had a really unfortunate experience with this company. I'm a first time home owner and needed to replace my furnace. I had four different vendors come out and ultimately decided to go with Bellows. They didn't have the lowest quote but I thought they were the most professional and thorough. They did the original bid and then another walk-through. On the day of the job, they called about two hours in to say they had made an error and it would now cost an extra $1,200 to replace the flue. They acknowledged that they made errors in both the bid process and the walk-through. They insisted that $1,200 extra was the low end of this repair as replacing the flue would be a two person job, would take at least 8 hours and require extra rental equipment. Literally everyone I spoke to about this told me it was wrong. I called again and they reiterated the above and told me if I didn't pay the extra $1,200, they would take the furnace and leave- which is what they did.
I ended up going with one of the original vendors. They were able to do the job (including the flue replacement!) in about 7 hours total and about $1,500 under Bellow's price. When I asked them about Bellow's flue replacement estimate, I was told that the flue did need to be replaced but the job was much less than Bellows had described it. Ultimately, choosing Bellows cost my household three days off work (bid, walk through and start of job) as well as another couple of weeks without a furnace while we looked for another vendor. My furnace passed its inspections with flying colors and without the special equipment or fees associated with Bellows day-of price increase.
I just had my hot water tank replaced by Bellows. I have solar and wanted to go with an electric tankless but after evaluating the performance of electric tankless I went with electric tank. Bellows sent an electrician out and then planned how to do this all in one day. They have an excellent reminder system where they send a text of who is coming and arrival time. The electrician and plumbers were professional curteous and cleaned up after the job was completed. I have used them three times in the last 5 years and am always happy with their service.

On top of communication and great prices! We used them for fireplace insert and they came back and helped make adjustments (free of charge) after a county inspector found issue with the original installation of the new gas line.
We just had Bellows install a new condensing unit on our property and the whole process went well. The workers were both very polite and knew their craft quite well. We look forward to using our AC unit this summer.
I just finished up having my water heater fixed and these guys did a really good job despite some bumps in the road. Unfortunately, in the last few years some of the water heater companies made it more difficult to buy replacement parts. Be aware of this because my eco-defender now makes you buy the whole assembly if your thermal coupler goes out. Matt who, is a sensational plumber, and very pleasant guy to deal with,came out to the house and did his diagnostic. He tried to get just the part that he thought was needed and the company doesn't sell it anymore without the rest of the unit to replace it. He then came back to me and explained this to me since this is a eight-year-old water heater that this is this fix may not get it fixed. We discussed the options and decided to move forward. He explained in full he would have to charge me more to install the additional parts do it may not be complete fix. He ordered up the additional part, came back the next day and installed it. We then found that that didn't complete the fix. The Company worked with me to make me happy and get this all done since life is a drag without hot water. Matt was excellent, everything was explained in full, and even though we had some surprises we got through this and I feel good about the job and I really feel good about it being able to take a shower again. Love that the company is owned by women too!!

Kenta Gilmore is a star. I'm in the diagnosis business myself and recognize when someone knows their stuff and is methodical in the pursuit of a solid repair. Found a blown fuse on my AC circuit board but didn't just settle on that as the cause of the problem but tested the fix and found there was more to it which turned out to be a short in the control wire which he immediately fixed. AC good to go. He has also worked on the heating portion of the unit and both times found the problem (2 completely different things at separate times) and fixed it. Second time was a gas unit with solenoid and required some new piping. Tested his work to make sure gas connections were tight and perfect. No wonder this company has 5 stars. I would give more if I could. Communication was excellent and pricing fair. Look no further for a great Heating/AC company.

The Rinnai Air Handler unit had a problem fitting that the installer {a local who I won't disparage in this review BUT will on his listing :( }. Jeremy solved the problem and also connected the fan only mode that was left unattended. He got heat running (I know, it's been record hot but I'm beating the coming cold) and checked the rest of the system. In all, it was one of the best service experiences I've had and I'd call them back anytime for my Rinnai service needs.
Wow! At first we couldn't find our kitchen sink problem. All the valves and pipes were dry. Then he heard a drip and figured out it was our faucet. Bellows replaced the faucet with a better one and now our kitchen is operational again. Thank you Bellows!
I called Bellows to fix the clogged kitchen drain which another plumber failed to fix. Matt from Bellows arrived on time, fixed the problem and kept everything clean in the process. Very professional job for a reasonable price, I'll definitely call Bellows again.

We are on the Bellows annual service contract, and we just had their technician Paul come out for our regular maintenance call. He went above and beyond! Not only did he do the required maintenance on the list, but checked several other things as well, and gave us a bunch of tips on how to keep our plumbing problem-free going forward. All our plumbing is about ten years old, and things are starting to show wear, so this is timely. We definitely need a new kitchen faucet, and he tipped us off to the fact that ours has a lifetime warranty from the manufacturer, hopefully saving us a few hundred dollars on a new one! If that doesn't work out, his suggestion for a replacement was perfect, and we'll definitely ask for him to come back and put in whichever one we end up with.
I couldn't really believe that they always get five stars, BUT then I used them, and wow from call in, to heater fixed was under an hour. They fit right in with my busy schedule. I will definitely recommend them. Trey, the technician, is knowledgeable, fast and reliable. Love this company. Oh and really cool thing: the office sends a photo and credentials of worker to you electronically, so you know who to expect.

Miguel arrived promptly to evaluate our furnace & duct system. He found & showed us how our old ducts are deteriorating, & efficiently prepared a bid for replacement. There was no high-pressure sales pitch; but we were able to see for ourselves what is needed. Miguel was professional, well informed, and personable.
After reading other great Yelp reviews about this company, I called them to reroute our bathroom heating duct from one location to another. On the same day, a very professional technician from Bellows (Kenta) was available. He studied the site carefully before giving me the estimate. This required that he climb under the house, which told me that he knew how to properly assess the scope of our job. The crew came yesterday with all the necessary equipment and got the job done in about 3 hours. Today I got a follow-up call from company owner Patrick, which is a courtesy that I find very welcome in today's world. In summary, from the answering service receptionists to the owner, all the contacts have been positive. I am happy to know that this company has a location in Marin.

When it got really hot over the summer, we decided to put air conditioning in our mid-century house. I called the company that had installed our heating system, and they never called me back, so I called Bellows based upon their Yelp rating. Jason is a true professional, knows his stuff, and promptly gave us a reasonable quote. Then, they did a beautiful job installing our air conditioning system. It really looks nice, both outside and inside the house. Finally, when the city had questions about the permit, Chelsea worked tirelessly to get the city's concerns answered, and get the installation permit signed off. In the end, the city signed off on the work without any changes. The air conditioner works perfectly. I was so impressed with Bellows that I signed up for their annual maintenance plan, which seems like a really good deal.
Bellows just replaced my furnace with a new Lennox model. I had 3 bids and Bellows was very competitive. Working with them was easy. Chelsea was our main contact and she coordinated everything. We appreciated how responsive she was, always following up and letting us know where we were in the process. She was a pleasure to work with.
Trey did the installation, and again, great guy with great skills. He was on time and got the job done faster than estimated. All houses are different and can bring different challenges in replacing a furnace. Trey was able to calmly assess the situation and figure out the best way to make the furnace work with as much of the existing ducting and space available. Bellows does not consider the job done until I was completely satisfied. Great people, great service, great products. Highly recommended.

Bellows Plumbing really came through. When my elderly mother's furnace died in the middle of a cold spell, Bellows did not make her wait several days to regain heat in her house. Instead, because of her age, they took an employee off a job in order to put in a new furnace for her just so that she could have heat within 24 hours. Thank you, Bellows, for respecting and understanding the situation. Other companies just said sorry and that she would have to be without heat for a week.

I HIGHLY recommend Bellows for furnace work. Kenta (their service tech) cleaned and checked out both of our furnaces today. He did a GREAT job for us, and he was very professional, punctual and easy to work with. Their office staff was very responsive, polite and professional as well. Their prices were very reasonable. This is our first time using Bellows, and we will most definitely be repeat customers in the future.
They helped us with an inspection of a property we have in escrow in Fairfax. They were friendly, prompt, and the inspection cost was reasonable. Their quotes seem to be inline with what I would expect for the work they suggested. What more can I ask for.
Excellent service. Honest and quick. Our furnace stopped working right in time for the holidays . Trey came out, and within an hour it was fixed.

A Bellows representative came to my house to conduct a review of my plumbing needs. Jose was very responsive and courteous and provided a an evaluation which acknowledged that certain repairs were not necessary at this time. I appreciated his honesty and will contact them in the future
We turned on the heater for the first time this Fall and nothing happened. We called Bellows and Jason arrived the next day to check out the problem. He ordered the part and was back the following week to make the repair. Jason was knowledgeable and professional yet very friendly. The 'girls' who answered the office phone were delightful as well. I had Bellows refurbish the sheet metal duct work in my house. They did a fantastic job. My duct work went from looking like something from a late night scary movie, to looking like a shinny, beautifully crafted system on a NASA space ship. Bellows gave me a quote, which was very reasonable, and that is what it cost. None of the nickel and dime extras or add on extra cost BS. They just did it right with a smile. I have had a great experience using this company. they are extremely efficient and professional. last month when my unit wasn't working they made very effort to get someone to my house before the weekend knowing I had a baby and really needed my air working. Recently they also installed a new air filter unit and accommodated to my schedule and then finished the job quicker the estimated. I will be using them for any needs we have with plumbing in the future as well.

Just had my heater replaced. Very smart people, great customer service skills. Gave me good options. Installation was done well and complete. I can't say the price was anything special. Seemed fair though. I have tried different plumbers. I now feel I have one to turn to with trust.
We are very happy with our service from Bellows. They were one of the only companies to promptly return our call, and they were honest in their recommendations for gas furnaces (and didn't try to upsell us unnecessarily). They replaced our gas furnace for a very reasonable cost. Highly recommend!

Bellows recommended and installed a Mitsubishi multi-split system (ductless - with AC and heat) in our house in Napa. Chelsea responded quickly via email, arranged to meet, clearly explained what it involved, and they got the job done quickly. It's up and running and is a great solution for a small house built in the 1950s without a central system.

I have an old propane stove heater that was at the house when I bought it 11 years ago. Steve was not able to get it working and mentioned that Bellows does not work on this type of heater. He redirected me to another heater company for this and didn't charge me for the call. At my request, he gave me an estimate for a replacement.

We replaced our furnace and installed a brand new air conditioning system. These guys were great from start to finish. Jason, the CEO, did the estimate. He was knowledgable, professional and responsive to my follow up questions. He came through with competitive pricing and stuck to it. No upcharge or discrepancies. The installation was done by Del, who knew what he was doing, was willing to answer questions, and did the job well. There were a few details that I requested attention to in the process and he was responsive. The office staff, and Chelsea in particular, was courteous, knowledgable, and responsive to my scheduling needs. I would absolutely recommend them, and will follow up here again if that changes.

Richard - the installer - was on time, efficient and helpful. He was very professional and easy to work with. Likewise, the asbestos removal was clean and quick. Jason gave me a fair price and quoted the work in a reasonable way. The system was rebalanced and works great.
On a previous visit, I became a member of Bellows, which entitled me to three inspections. Today, Steve inspected the furnace, and Brad and Adam inspected the plumbing. They were all courteous, professional and knowledgable. They conducted their inspections, explained the state of my furnace and plumbing, and did not try to oversell me on repair work. Steve recommended an easy fix to stop heat from escaping into my addict. The only plumbing repair had to do with a squeaky toilet, that I brought to their attention. A new valve was required. My house is in great shape. I highly recommend Bellows.

I called these guys for a second opinion with my duct works. They gave me straight-up answers and didn't BS me with costly upgrades (not like the other guys). The job actually ended up being much harder than anticipated, which required 3 days of work instead of 2 days. But they didn't complain, nor did charge me anything extra for that. Definitely keeping their number handy for if and when I need them again!
Very pleasant experience! Got estimates from several companies and I found Bellows to be the most helpful and competent. And the price was alright too. So I decided to go with them and was not disappointed. Installers did a great job - for example when it turned out that the indoor unit was 1/2 degree off level after mounting they went through the trouble of taking it back off and correcting the wall bracket twice until it was perfectly straight. All works well and my office now is pleasantly cool!

Bellows replaced heating system in our 2,500 sq ft home, including asbestos abatement for original 1967 duct work under house, which they also replaced. Bellows did a great job and all of their workers were really great, too. We did have some issues with equal heat coming from registers throughout the house, but they came back several times to adjust (which included pulling a huge sponge out of one of the bathroom registers that had apparently been there for many years, blocking flow of heat!), and now our new heating system is working like a charm. We are very happy with the job performed by Bellows and can highly recommend.

The Bellows team was very responsive, timely and very competitively priced. Our permit was signed off quickly on our new water heater. The inspector said the work completed was very well done. I will be calling them today for help with our heating system.
As a longstanding Marin County based Electrical Contractor (Divine Electric), I know a great HVAC company when I see one! My crew has been coordinating and installing 10+ air conditioning circuits this spring and summer as part of their AC packages. Chelsea in the office is a service superstar and hyper communicative and always friendly. Their technicians are clean and responsible when I meet with them out in the field. And their clients are always super stoked with the new sick AC units they install. Bellows is who I always recommend to my clients asking about air conditioning. 5 Stars - no doubt about it!
Bellows did a great job on replacing our duct work and hot water heater. We live in an older house with very little crawl space but Del burrowed under there and navigated the tight quarters along with the remnants of a rodent problem. He was professional and upbeat despite the less than ideal working situation. One of the things that I value most about this company is their responsive communication. Chelsea provided us with great costumer service!
