Established in 1984.
In operation since 1984 Bellows Plumbing, Heating, & Sewer started as a tenant improvement commercial plumbing company. Building malls and shopping centers the owners fined tuned their plumbing knowledge completing all size projects. Then in 2003 the residential and commercial repair division was opened. The service division has been a huge success in Santa Cruz and San Jose. Specializing in emergency service for all types of plumbing, drain and heating problems has made them one of the area's favorite plumbers.

Co-owners and father-in-law/son-in-law team Greg Bellows and Jason Schlunt have raised the standard in the plumbing and drain industry. They both believe in serving the community though courtesy, honesty, and integrity. Their mission is to be the best and they take great pride in providing a truly uncommon level of excellent service to their customers. We are leading the industry by example, says Jason.

We live in San Jose California and we went to Costco for regular shopping and saw the advertisement for Lennox air-conditioning and heating. We brought it home and called and asked somebody to come out to explain to us what exactly they had to offer. A very friendly Guy came out named Brent and we were convinced on our own thinking that this two zone new unit that can have our system in any room or all rooms. In our case we only wanted it in our family room and our bedroom needless to say we signed up. Then another gentleman came out named Russell to look at the job and explain further to us and again we were very happy to sign up with him. The next step was a gentleman who came out to install all of this which took two full eight hour days, Their name was Nacho and Miguel and we found them to be most kind patient professional, very accommodating even though we changed the plans on them which took them extra time and effort. They were so kind and treated the job as though it were their own home. In those two days like they were our Friends!! To say that they have five stars from us is far from what we would give them if they could have 10 stars. We exchanged hugs when they left and told them how kind they were how accommodating they were! As far as our system goes it is only less than one week but we felt compelled to express our gratitude and highly recommend Bellows. My mom bought a split heater cooler from Costco 5 years ago, it started to be less efficient so I called bellows plumber.
    Ryan Avila came out for the repair. He is an incredible technician who came out when scheduled, very clean and well organized. I was so glad to watch him work and communicate with my mom.
 It would be a pleasure to have him work on any of my projects. Thank you Ryan. 5 stars.

I waited over 30 days for a part to be ordered for my system. They took photos to insure the repair/install would be smooth and simple.
The appointment was confirmed 4 times, the person scheduled to be here, 2 confirmation calls, then said he couldn't make the appointment?
The main office rescheduled for two hours later... Confirmations sent again, rinse and repeat they called 20 mins after the cut off time to say;
The one person who could work on the system was not available?!
Such an enormous example of who Not To Call
or let's just call it what it is Total Incompetence.

Bellows had good systems in place for customer communication and notifications. Everyone is great to work with. In general a great experience and much better than most companies, who don't pay much attention to implementing systems for quality customer communication and interactions.

I got a reminder text the day before, a text with the name and photo of the electrician this morning, a call from the electrician 10 minutes before they arrived. Made quick work of the problem. Very happy.

I had a faucet issue, and one of my friends had called bellows to help me out, but I had contacted my warranty company myself so did not need them. Unbeknownst to me, bellows had not been cancelled. So when they called, I had thought they were with the warranty company, so made an appointment. I did call the company number asking if the faucet requires replacing, does the standard $75 warranty price cover that . They just gave me the oh, we'll have to see what the problem is and evaluate it. Fine. I thought that was standard since it was my first time working with my warranty company. Come day of appointment, Bellows cancels my appointment that day stating they don't have a card to bill. Then they claimed they need to bill for the appointment after their plumber said they stopped by, but we were home all day and no one knocked, called, or rang the doorbell, nothing. So they sent a $149 bill for doing nothing. When I saw the bill, I called and asked what was going on, then it was later figured out they are not with the warranty company. I talked to a woman on the phone who confirmed I had not been the one to call for their service as the phone numbers weren't the same. The lady said she'd talk to her manager and figure out the bill, and i reminded her that no one actually came to the house that day anyways. Get nothing back, so I think it's done. Then I get months later stating they still need the $149 bill fulfilled otherwise they'll send me collections! I promptly emailed back stating I thought this had been figured out, restated what I had told the lady months ago. No response. I email again. No response.

Absolutely ridiculous and unethical behavior. If you cancel the appintment yourself and no one comes, why are you still charging a fee???

Also, claiming that they have time staoped picture of them standing outside the door? After the texts saying it's cancelled as shown in pics? No one rang the doorbell, knocked, no sign of anyone at the door. Seems a pretty easy scam to stand outside, snap a pic, do nothing, then leave without telling anyone.

We live in Santa Rosa and discovered that our neighbors' (larger) home was using half the heating energy as ours for the same heating settings.  Our heating system was installed in 1995, so it was time to head to Costco.  We first met with Robert (with Bellows), and he did a thorough look-see with our home, including an analysis of where our energy hits might be.  He looked at possible factors: crawl space between-stud insulation, ducting, heating system, walls, windows, infiltration, and ceiling.  We worked together back and forth through six or seven quotes, and finally decided that the following Lennox system would work best:  indoor air handler with gas furnace (96% efficient),  outdoor heat pump, and EcoBee TStat (I purchased this at Home Depot).    Please note--we got a second quote from a well known local company, and up front, they said we just cannot beat the price you will get from Costco.
It is my opinion that CA will always have natural gas at a better cost than equivalent energy for electric.  However, a heat pump (electric) for winter time heating is almost 3x more efficient than blowing air across metal from gas flames or electrical elements, but being that using more electricity will bump us into a higher electricity energy cost (natural gas about 10c/kWh equiv, our current electricity now  18c/kWh, and probably 30c/kWh next tier with heat pump), I'm guessing that energy costs may be the same between furnace only and heat pump.  With the EcoBee TStat Robert recommended, we have the option for aux heat (all gas) or heat pump.
Lennox is a reliable brand; one of the best, along with Trane and just a couple of others.  There are many options for heating and AC.  And Robert helped us with costs per system vs rebates.  It is a complicated thing to wade through if you're trying to do this on your own.
Once we picked our system, Del came out for a site preview prior to installation.  Very knowledgeable, friendly, and used to be an installer.  He suspected we had a duct issue, crawled under our very tight crawl space, and identified a 15 foot run of bad ducting (which we had replaced during our install).
Just before the install, Robert stopped by again (on his own time) and did a preliminary HERS test.  Above the call of duty... All the air supply registers are taped over, and a fan/large flex pipe are attached to the return grille to pressurize it and measure the CFM leakage.  Very helpful to compare with when we get the formal test soon (ie, how much leakage did we get from the one bad duct pipe).
Installers Alexis and Mark finished two days ago and just did an excellent job.  They spent time in the attic, and our awful, awful crawl space.  One of those crawl spaces where you have to let your breath out to squeeze between beams and joists.   Both very talented, Mark with a fun sense of humor, and both have a positive attitude.  I'm a retired engineer, and in the past 30 years, have done most of home repairs solo--so, I have a darn good idea of how things should be done, and these two guys were tops.
Patrick (operations) and Terry (scheduling) got involved a number of times.  
There are many pieces that have to fall into place to get a heat system in place...I had no idea.  Costs/choices, equipment and installer availability, rebates with Costco, etc.  They help me navigate/schedule with HERS testing after install, and then, the city inspection.  You can actually talk with Bellows people right away without all the crap I often deal with where you can't reach someone, or they're in a country and cannnot help you while you wait on the phone....

in 2019 Bellowls was recommended for tankless water heater install. well now we know why it never worked as promised. they left an important element in the recycling pump completely off. this explains why instant hot water  takes 90 seconds.  When  we complained on stallation, they put in an off brand piece under the sink and told us the heater would teach itself our patterns. Never happened. No telling how much wasted gas and wasted water over the years.  Called to say what the new plumber had figured out. No recourse, so buyer beware. I'll never use them again. Now  I'm paying $650 to have it fixed.

I had a toilet leak. The plumber said I could replace the wax seal, but for a little more, I might as well replace the entire toilet. I asked him about replacing the valve from the wall to the toilet, and he said he'd throw it in at no cost when he installed the new toilet. He said this in front of the tenant ith me on the phone. A week later, he replaced the toilet, and when I asked the tenant if he replaced the valve the answer was no. After repeated attempts to get them to live up to their agreement, I was told, the plumber never said that. So don't what these guys tell you they will do.  I'll find a trustworthy plumber next time.

We had a mini-split system installed by Bellows.  It was a complicated and multi-faceted process that took almost three full days.  The crew was excellent!  Headed by Mikey, along with James, Tony, Danny, and Jonathan, they did an outstanding job.  Extremely, courteous, respectful, and best of all competent, I cannot recommend this company enough.

This company installed our new heater. Four years later, it stopped working, I called them and they were too busy to come out, their waiting list is nearly a month. Their fee to show up is $140. I ended up calling JB Heating and Air, they came out three hours later and fixed everything for $89.
Two great businesses, but one is too successful, and one is up-and-coming!

Every interaction I've had has been very professional and anxiety free (huge for me).
Today John came out to take a look at my wall heater - I have no idea when it was last maintained and when I had tried to turn it on recently it had started to smoke. John took a look, cleaned it up and assured me all was well, much to my relief.

Use this place only in emergencies.

Scheduling an appointment was easy. The plumbers and the phone/dispatch were all professionals. The giant flaw with this particular experience was with their diagnostics and pricing.

Check out the attached photo; it's a screen shot of part of their invoice/work order. That's a Moen faucet which retails at Home Depot for $143. Check out the pricing that Bellows gave me: $829 (this includes install).  I said nope. So they said they could back out $500 if I provided my own faucet. Again, I said nope that and I got a second opinion. Apparently I didn't need all this work done, and all that was needed was some tightening of some valves - W T F bellows!?

These plumbers poorly diagnosed my leaky faucet and tried to gouge me. I've used them before and they gouged me then too. Plumbing gougefest.
There seems to be some sort of racket and/or price fixing; Roto-Rooter Plumbing are a bunch of crooks as well. They charged me $500 to unclog a kitchen sink.

Regular people don't know enough about plumbing to ask questions. When you have a leak or your water isn't running, you become desperate and you stop asking questions and getting second opinions (I get it) - these plumbers have become accustomed to this and now they are brazen AF. Let's get the power back - ask questions, pick apart their arbitrary work order. . . or don't - who cares.

Bellows answered my phone request for a service call for our furnace. An appointment was made and, after a pre-call, letting me know he was 10 minutes out, Jonathan arrived right on time. He was out the door 30 minutes later. Our furnace works great. I'm extremely happy I didn't try to DYI. I learned long ago that I should never work on my own brakes. It is the first question asked by the insurance guy after an accident. I would apply the same rule here. and for the same reasons.

I work a lot with Bellows Plumbing in my Real Estate Business. I typically work mostly with Sofia Vargas, Mike Murrow, and Jennifer Galvan. This team and their on-site field crew which includes Hector do a phenomenal job of staying in communication with me and always meeting timelines on time or even at times earlier than expected. I highly recommend Bellows!

Bellows was very easy to work with for a Sewer Lateral Patch repair. Called and got an appointment for an inspection within days, and then Mike (Bellows inspector) was very helpful in explaining the work that needed to be done and recommended option. (Bellows was actually a second competitive bid which we looked into, and they pointed out an error with a competitor bid that proposed a repair for several thousand dollars more!) Repair work was conveniently scheduled for a couple of weeks later. They took care of all the utility company dig area checking/flagging, pulling permits & arranging final inspection approvals with the county. Highly recommend Bellows!

The worst choice in plumbers I could have made.  My detailed complaint would exceed the allotted space.

I was so disappointed with Bellows. I had a problem with my furnace where the blower wasn't coming on. They came out to fix it the first time and it lasted a day. They came out again and put in a new thermostat it lasted an hour. I called him to come out again and they told me I needed to replace my system. They refused to come out again unless I wanted to replace my system. My furnace is only six years old. It's pretty obvious there's a short in my system and it just needs to be found but Bellows wasn't going to do the work. And they charged me a tremendous amount of money including paying $300 for their year-long service which was a total waste.

Switching thermostats between our fireplace (a programmable one) and our furnace (a simple one) caused a short in the secondary power fuse in the furnace. Jeff came and quickly solved to issue! Very knowledgeable and friendly. Also told me about the great maintenance plan Bellows offers!

I wish I could laugh off how bad my experience with this company was, but I can't. All I can say is if you want to be treated with respect, and if you want competent, reliable service people to work on your home, look elsewhere. Bellows is a mess. Honesty is not among their strengths.

A friend who used Bellows for a super-expensive, full-house central AC job warned me that I should avoid hiring Bellows for anything. Unfortunately, I ignored the warning, and went with the referral I got from the (now closed) heating and AC company I used to hire. Big mistake! Always listen to the advice from real customers, not the cronies of the service providers! This is why Yelp exists. Take note of how many one-star reviews Bellows has here. Most of them are recent. All of them come across as legit reviews, unlike some of the four-star posts.

There are better companies in town who provide these services. Use them.

It was time to replace my home's old/original furnace. After reading good things online about Bellow's and confirming via word-of-mouth, I reached out for a service request and/or quote for replacement. At every step, Bellow's was prompt, friendly, professional, and thorough. All work was completed on time at a fair and competitive price. Five stars, highly recommended.

Bellows is my go to referral for all my client's plumbing and heating needs.  As a Realtor, I need to have a sewer lateral inspection on each of my listings as part of the sale.  Jennifer is always my preferred plumber due to her professionalism and expert advice.  She is quick with her reports and always so complimentary and courteous to my clients.  When repairs are needed, their work is exemplary and at a reasonable price.  Their great work makes me look good in the eyes of my clients.  That is why I always call Bellows (and ask for Jennifer) when I need plumbing & heating work on my house or for a client!

Patrick walked me through what I needed to do to replace my kitchen faucet & identify a leak. He was punctual and well-informed & came back as many times as needed before we had everything ready to go. Well, it looks like we're starting 2022 with this whole ordeal behind us.  The morning after I posted my angry review, Bellows did send a crew to pump out the water from the trench, pull out the remaining debris that was left, and complete the backfill.  I spoke to Stephanie and to Mike, who handles operations, and Mike ended up coming out the morning of the 31st to double check that the job had been completed and gave us a video of how it now looks under the house.
For the most part they apologized and took responsibility; there was a little bit of blame shifting because the County had signed off on a permit that I guess they shouldn't have until the job was finished, but ultimately I think they agree the buck stops with them.
I added one star because we had originally used Bellows for a re-pipe that went fine (some communications hiccups but we were out of town so that was partly on us).  Unfortunately this job was the polar opposite of that experience so I can no longer use them or recommend them to someone else.

Called bellows on Sunday morning for a high-pitched whine/hum coming from my furnace. Of course the sound stopped just before the technician arrived. But Jeff was able to sign me up for the annual maintenance plan instead of charging for the weekend visit itself, which saved me $50 and will get me some needed maintenance for no additional charge. And he inspected the furnace and explained the safety features. I was quite happy with the service.

We have been using Bellows for years now and have had them work on everything. We've remodeled our kitchen, bathroom and upgraded old pipes. They also work on our soft water system and reverse osmosis. They are alway friendly and very transparent with their work and pricing. They are worth every penny I highly recommend

Beware of the UPSELL. I needed an AC unit replaced, and the technician told me that I not only needed that replaced, I also needed a new heater. The estimate also included over $1300 in permits and testing. The total price quoted was in excess of $16,600.00. I sought a second opinion, and that business was out that same day, confirmed that I did not need a new heater or all the permits that Bellows quoted, and had the new unit installed in two days for $4,600.00. As a retired person, I narrowly escaped being robbed by Bellows.

I used to be a fan of Bellows, but not any more.  I had to have my sewer lateral replaced.  It took them 4 days to dig it out and replace the pipe, which is great.  Then nothing happened for a week, until they schedule both the asphalt and sidewalk concrete on the same day.  The concrete sub-contractor said they could not access the sidewalk due to the asphalt work, and left.  They are supposed to show up next week.  Because the concrete removal was directly in front of my driveway, it means I'll be at least 3 weeks without access to my driveway, as it takes 5 days to set the concrete for a vehicle.

I've spent a lot of money with Bellows over the years (furnace retrofit in a victorian, tankless water heater, gas pipe work, gas meter move, water pipe work, and this sewer lateral).   You'd think they would have at least tried to get this done right.  I had to call 4 times just to get them to give me a fixed date for the concrete, which then didn't even work out.

Great experience with Bellows! We purchased an air conditioner and new furnace through Costco and they connected us with Bellows for an estimate and installation. Very professional people to work with...knowledgeable and very dependable. Kept us informed of process and everyone we worked with was very pleasant and informative. Our only set back was the permit being processed by the county which took 3 months (but was not Bellows fault!). We would highly recommend Bellows...this was quoted as a 2 day job and they got it all done in exactly 2 days. Great experience!

The crew who worked at my house on a sewer hookup project were just fantastic! I can't say enough about how professional, hard working, friendly and great communicators Hector, Jose and Alexus were. They did an excellent job and even made sure I was satisfied before leaving. I would recommend them in a heartbeat! Also the communication from the main office was really good as well. Great company with great staff.

I've done a lot of work with Bellows since moving here -- two hot water heaters, a full funanace install, all brand new furnace vents plus clog drains unclogged, plumbing fixtures replaced, and so on. Really great service and nice people to work with. Today I had a dryer vent specialist Michael come out to fix a clogged dryer vent. He was fast, on time and the vent works perfectly now. Thank you!

Our A/C unit started leaking from having a clogged pipe and was able to get an appointment with Bellows super fast.

John Costales came out to check it out and was able to investigate and fix it really quickly, which helps when it's 98 degrees out! He was super friendly and polite and gave me a few bits of knowledge along the way :) Thanks John!

Bellows is a very professional organization that doesn't try to upsell you on things you don't need.
Steve Huth was the representative who came to my home to check the air ducts in my heater. He and his associate were relaxed, knowledgable, professional, and friendly.
The phone sales rep was good, too and got back to me right away.
I also appreciate that Bellows sent me a picture via text of the representative who came to my home!

I can't state enough how amazing Mike Murrows and Bellow's technician, Jen, were in our dealings with a sewer lateral inspection at a condo complex.  They were so helpful. Mike made many phone calls & emails to the county program on our behalf. They came out twice, at no expense, to make sure we got what we needed for the county.

Had a problem where my heater wouldn't light consistently.  They showed up, looked at it and said my heater was old and they probably couldn't find parts for it and I should buy a new one.  They  didn't even figure out what part I might need,  or diagnose the issue, spent 20 minutes gave up and charged me for a service visit.  I appreciate that I have an old heater but if your not even going to try and fix older heaters maybe you should ask about the issue during intake.  Thanks bellows won't be purchasing my new heater from you.

Expensive but the quality of work is poor.  The cost is a moving target and you will get no written proposal.  They charge you $149 to show up and then give you a high verbal quote for the work. Now you have already paid Bellows and are given an unreasonable bid so your choice is to call another plumber or just suck it up.  My advice, call any other plumber.

I scheduled a sewer lateral inspection with Bellows and Jennifer Galvan was my technician. She was Incredible! Called when she was on her way, showed up on time, explained everything she found or saw in terms I could understand.  Followed through with a phone call if I couldn't make it to the appointment. She's Amazing at her job and it shows.  I hope Bellows recognizes her work efforts and I will keep referring all my clients, friends and family to Bellows.

We needed regular service to flush our tankless hot water heaters. Jennifer is a punctual, knowledgeable, and pleasant technician. She serviced one of our tankless hot water heaters, but she found that the other one had no drain valves. In addition, she checked over all of the plumbing items that might need attention and found one that needed replacement. This is the second time that we have used Jennifer, and I would highly recommend her as the technician to call if you need plumbing or septic tank service.

Beware of the unnecessary upsell. Was quoted $7k to replace the heating unit because it was old and bad. Had another vendor repair the unit for $350.

We contacted Bellows with some specifics regarding our inside ceiling mounted heat pump - our A/C & heating were not working properly.

Bellows was the 3rd company to come out (the prior 2 were through our home warranty) and try to diagnose our problem. On 6/4/20, they sent a text with information regarding the technician coming out. I thought it was helpful that they also sent a photo of the technician.

Matt arrived with PPE (and also shoe covers) and took some photos, analyzed the temperature of the air coming out of the vents, etc.

While they weren't able to resolve our issue, they did recommend us to a website to find companies that may be able to help us. I was also very pleased that they appropriately addressed the diagnostic fee. Bellows was a fair, and honest company that I would happily use in the future.

I can't comment on the actual work as I went with another quote. I will say that the gentelman that came and looked at the work for the quote was friendly, the notification and scheduling system was appreciated, and he correctly identified the issues at hand. The reason for the 3 stars was that the quote was literally 2.5x (or more) than three other quotes I got for the exact same work. The final work was still under $1000 (quote was for almost 3k).  

So I liked the customer service and the up front evaluation, but I just couldn't choke down the price vs cost. I personally knew the parts were under $500 (w/markup from plumbers its typically $700-800) so the rest was all labor. The actual job was completed in 1 hour by a different company.

The only reason I didn't do the job myself was because of all things plumbing, sewage is the one thing I refuse to do :-)

I reached out to Bellows to get a quote for lateral sewer repair and while I can't comment on the actual work because unfortunately, my area is not supported because of strict licensing requirements. I received a call from Michael to let me know that he did some research and could not help me with this work at this time. He also found out that my city has a lateral sewer rebate program that shares some of the cost (sadly this program ended a few months ago) which is above and beyond what he needed to do. I also got more information about what I can expect during this process along with price range for this type of work. If I ever need any type of plumbing work done, I'll make sure to reach out to them in the future.

Awesome company, honest and they really know their stuff. I'm in South Bay, one night I have no hot water so I started calling places. I got a referral for Bellows, they scheduled for the next day understanding the situation I was in. Peter Cornwell arrived exactly on time, he called 15 minutes in advance too. Super knowledgeable guy, right away explained what he thinks the problem is, the galvanized pipes got clogged, but the heater is fine. Peter then changed them and in no time we have hot water again! Now, before calling Bellows I've talked to several other companies, all others right off the bat wanted to replace the water heater. Thanks to Bellows & Peter I can get few more years from my water heater!

Bellows came out for a leak inspection due to a notice I received from the water district about continuous water running at my house.  I have dealt with water damage in a previous home, so this is always a stressful notice to receive.  They discovered the leak coming from a water line outside. I received a detailed quote and set up an appointment for the work to be done after parts were ordered.
Jacob came to my house right on time and was extremely professional,  confident, kind, and took the time to explain everything that was going on and would need to be done. Our hot water heater died  just after Christmas.  I immediately called Bellows as they had previously done excellent work for us (fixed an underground water leak and replaced a furnace).  They responded quickly and sent out a great tech.  Nathan was there within 2 hours and confirmed that we needed a new water heater.  He advised us on the types of unit we could install, even conferring with our solar company about whether we could replace the gas heater with electric.  We decided on a gas hot water heater and he installed it the next day. In the pouring rain.  We are so very happy with the work done and the professionalism Nate and the Bellows group brings to the job.  I love that they are locally owned.  Five stars on every level.

The two stars are for their responsiveness and really nice staff.  Otherwise, way overpriced. They wanted $149 to come out and diagnose the problem and it may or may not be deducted from the price, that depends on the technician. They came out and diagnosed the problem (which was minor) and gave me a jaw dropping bid. I decided it was worth the money to get one more bid from another company with equally high reviews. That company only wanted $49 for the diagnosis and they stated that  of course it applies to the bill should you proceed. The second bid was was almost half the price of the Bellows bid and it was more than enough of a difference to make it worth losing Bellows' fee which may not have even applied to the cost of repair. No one else charges a diagnostic fee that high and while it may be a quick money grab for the company, it's not a way to get a long term customer. I will continue to go elsewhere.

My heater was not working after thermostat had just been replaced ,( over $400). I called Bellows back and they scheduled me promptly, very nice customer service on the phone.. my technician was Michael and he was really great! Called first for ETA , arrived promptly. He was extremely knowledgeable in diagnosing the problem. It is a very old heater and I won't go into the details about that but his service was fantastic. He knew exactly what to do and was very polite, with suggestions and tips on how to save on my energy bill. Professional, top quality service.  Replaced water heater and changed pipe work to meet modern coding standards.

We paid extra for weekend call as they were booked up for another 5 days - that was worthwhile since we were without hot water.  

Bellows called manufacturer of heater and confirmed it was under warranty which reduced the cost - they dealt directly with the water heater company and got replacement tank.

Our CO2 alarm went off and fire department can and inspected low traces. Asked Bellows to send out a technician. While the communication was clear and technician prompt, there was a discrepancy in the invoice. The technician texted he was at my home for 2 hours and didn't find a leak. The company sent me an invoice for 3 hours for a total of $447. I spoke with Patrick to contest the invoice who said their GPS equipment confirmed 3.5 hours, of which .5 was used to go to the supply house for equipment. They generously shaved off the .5 hours. I guess technology trumps humans. Watch your pocketbooks peeps.

I chose bellows to help with an error my contractor made with our new sink installation.  They came and provided guidance and an estimate.  Bruce was kind and honest.  He recommended I have my contractor repair his mistakes but offered a solution if not.  Contractor fessed up to his mistakes and is working on it but I know who to call if he can't get it done.  I am having them back next week to work on several other projects due to their excellent knowledge and customer experience.

Bellows hit another home run! Joe of Scotts Valley CA. here to report our satisfaction with the Bellows HVAC team.  Bellows was contracted to enhance a 27-year-old heating and AC systems. Never easy to merge new technology with old.  After an earlier detailed assessment and inspection of our system by Bellows a plan was developed and approved.
July 9th, Bellows HVAC technicians, Mike Podielski and new to the Bellows team John Costales, technician. John tackled the hard pipe duct/damper and all wiring to new control panels. Mike work under the house on another hard pipe duct/damper and final touches.
Mike Podielski is without question, a highly trained and skilled field technician.
John Costales is an 8-year technician professionally trained and 2 weeks with Bellows. Within minutes we could see that we were in great hands.
Old and new technologies are never easy to merge.
These two guys confronted the task with open minds and a can do attitude.
I could go on and on but by now you should know, the Bellows team hit a home run.
Our 27-year-old home is now with a modern HVAC system that WORKS! AWSOME!
Oh, by the way, Mike and John are two very cool cat. A joy to work with. When there was difficulty, they both had a get out of my way look in their eyes. But they give us a feeling that all will work out. And it did.

Finding a reliable service nowadays seems an almost impossible task but Bellows not only has great service but absolutely wonderful people working there. My son has used you in the past and he had a very positive experience with you but I spoke with a young man who had a very professional and very positive attitude on him and did his very best to reassure that you folk could work arround my needs being that I'm stuck in a wheel chair and sometimes my doctor's appointments make it a chore to schedule around them. I met him in the grocery store last week and his name was Carlos or Charles, I can't remember now, While I couldn't schedule anything at that time I will definitely be calling you back for future work. In terms of the employees being nice they get 5 stars. Their text automated communication system was nice as well.

The bummer is that they snaked a bathtub drain and it was back to being slow the week afterwards. It only worked for about a week. I called and asked if this was covered or if it would be a new service call since it was just worked on. The answer - a new service call $$$.

Too much $$$ for that type of fix. Will find another plumber going forward.

I originally left a bad review despite their great work. This was due to some dissatisfaction due to miscommunication, misaligned expectations, and some extra costs/timelines. I'm rewriting this now after working with them further. They genuinely care about their work and customers.

First the reason I left a bad review:

* I thought I asked for a tankless electric water heater with a goal of going solar in the future, what I got was a tankless gas one. I didn't realize until the end.

* I was told it was going to be a couple of days, it turned out to be a week and several thousand higher than quoted.

* They left with the old water heater tank. I ended up having to call. They did come back and take it no questions asked.

* I originally asked to look at our water softer and after all was said and done it was still off and useless in the back yard. I wasn't sure what happened.

* They did repipe the whole house, which i didn't know if it was an up-sell or if it really needed it, but i had a hard time trusting the latter at that point in time.

Turning it around:

After hearing I was not happy, they were extremely responsive and helpful. Not for better yelp scores - they were still in high standing - just genuinely concerned and wanted to make sure I was taken care of.  Bruce came out with in 1 business day and did everything he could to inform me and make things right.

* Turns out gas is a way better solution. I was misinformed about the state and quality of electric at this time. They made the right call for me and i was just confused.

* Quotes are just estimates. They did a great job even if it took a little longer and cost a little more.

* Bruce personally came out to check out the water softener after hearing my concerns. Turns out they did rewire it during the job, but were worried about turning it on due to the original wiring and I didn't get that memo.

* I now trust the repipe was a good move and I was indeed in good hands.

Bellows truly cares and the team, as i said in the original review, are great and do great work.

I had not turned the heat on since the Pandemic and lit the pilot and it kept going off when I turned the knob to the on position. I called and set up and did an internet chat to set up the appointment. They called right away. I had to give them three numbers since I do not have cell phone service at work. On the day of the appointment, they sent a picture of Jeff who was coming out to do the assessment. He was very professional and went through all of the possible scenarios. A bad valve would have been almost half of a new unit. He even suggested that I keep the thermocouple I bought as a attempt to see what if that was the issue. If I scheduled the new heater within 30 days, I would get the assessment money taken off the total price.
I get a call two days later and there was an opening. I received another picture of Eli who was here in 30 minutes of the phone call from the Bellows Office.  Eli did a great job and was very professional. He explained everything and tried to light it one more time before installing the new Williams Wall Unit.  Some companies that I called did not deal with Williams Wall Units but Bellows does, and I was happy about it. Eli went into the attic and checked the flume and vacuumed and bagged all of the trash.  I give Bellows 5 stars.
Also, Noelle called and was very nice. She was training someone and did a great job telling me the options to pay. Great company.

Bellows installed a transfer switch for our new generator. This was a little tricky given that the existing panel they were hooking into didn't easily accommodate the switch. Chris in particular was exceptionally helpful. A special shout out to Derik, who oversaw the job. He's both personal and professional, as well as meticulous about making sure everything worked perfectly and that I understood how the entire system operates. We purchased a new heating and air conditioning unit two years ago from Bellows through their Costco program.  The installation went great and we were happy with the performance of the Lennox system until a couple of weeks ago, when the AC was no longer providing cool air.

We called Bellows and they sent a tech out to take a look.  He determined there was a very slow leak, but after spending nearly the entire day, he couldn't find the source.  He came back with a second tech and together they were able to determine what the problem was, and that it was under warranty!   What a relief.   They put in a lot of hours and have taken real good care of us,  and they were always very polite and professional.  Thanks to both Matt and Thomas.  Given the quality of their work, we have decided to sign up for their annual maintenance program.  

These guys are good.  I highly recommend them.

I have a few jobs done by Bellows Plumbing company. The heater installation has still not passed city inspection after tree times! The other one is Sewage upgrade. The permit is sill not closed after two years! I also had Bellows Plumbing company replaced two toilets,  the screws were lose, so it caused leaking, my bathroom floor was flooded! I'm also unhappy about the toilets Bellows company got for me. They are too cheap and too small for the high price I paid.

So, I talked with Mike on the phone.
It appears that Bellows did actually use the manufacturers warranty in the most recent repair  and that saved me ~$200 - I didn't realize that.

At this point I will assume that I am the unlucky customer that got the infrequent case of a malfunctioning water heater - and that Bellows is not responsible for that.
From their side, they have been both responsive and professional on how they handle the repairs needed.

I am giving them a 4, to reward their professionalism in how they handled the case of an unhappy customer - to make it clear - they never promised me any discount for me revising my review.

In short, working with Bellows was the best contractor experience I have ever had.

I have some portable air conditioning units in my house for the hot summer months.  They are ugly and don't cool the entire house.  I also wanted to move my thermostat from the 2nd floor to the first where we spend most of our time.  I was looking for fan functionality that would circulate and filter the air as well.

I decided to talk to a gentleman that represented Bellows at Costco.  He had me fill our a contact card, and shortly after I heard from the Bellows office.

Anthony Garay came out to my house and spent over an hour talking to me about my options.  Great vibe, straight forward, and offered multiple options and price tiers.  Anthony was GREAT.

As far as the work was concerned, it was scheduled about three weeks out.  Bellows office called me and said there was an opening the next week!

My crew arrived as scheduled for a two-day affair.  Michael, Rudy, Mikey, and Elijah were fantastic.  They worked quickly and efficiently.  I am so impressed with the work and how clean it all was.  They took the time to show me everything and I could not be more pleased.

All in all, my experience with Bellows was all 5 stars.  I signed up for their maintenance program and have found my plumbing, heating, and cooling contractor for life.  I am having an ADU built later this year, and they already have the job.

I had some plumbing work done by Bellows and the work was satisfactory. Here is the problem- I signed up for their  'Exclusive Home Service' for $120 that we would receive 3 annual tune-ups per year.

I was told it would be a one time cost and they would come out and inspect our home and would get a 10% discount on any work that may need doing. I called today to set up an appointment but was told my 'service' was only good for a year and had expired.

I went onto explain we were not told that there was an expiration and that I would not have signed up for this if I had been told that. In addition, the paperwork they provided doesn't mention an expiration date which to me means it is ongoing.

Be aware that their 'Exclusive Home Service' is only good for one year......

We had our aging water heater replaced today and I'd like to compliment Jeremy on the installation. I knew what to expect because the quote was thorough, but I was curious about the details and Jeremy was friendly and answered my questions as the work proceeded. He was thoughtful about exactly where and how the water, gas, vent, and drain plumbing needed to run and as a result the install was neatly done and fit within the footprint. Heater was working on Wednesday, stopped heating on Thurs.  Called Bellows and got an appointment for Fri morning.  Sonny showed up shortly after 9:00 AM and had the heater working again by 10:00.  Did a diagnostic on the heater controller and made some observations about probable cause and what to look for if there was a repeat (related to overheat cutoff switch).  These guys are good...really professional and totally compliant with masking and proper Covid19 precautions.

Came back from a trip and our furnace was blowing just cold air and no heat. Granted that it doesn't snow in Aptos but we were have some very cold nights. We had a large job that required a new furnace, duct work, asbestos abatement, and some last minute additions that required flexibility and thoughtful engineering.

I work with a lot of subcontractors in our remodeling business and it makes my life so much easier when a company have it's operations in sync: transparent and clear invoicing, appt reminders (along with a picture of the service technician scheduled to arrive), and people who answer the phone.

Would definitely recommend them!

Awesome & prompt customer service!  My furnace stopped working and I tried calling PG&E who said to contact my propane company. My propane company couldn't come look until th next week. I called around to a dozen HVAC companies but mostly just got voicemail. Apparently they're all swamped.

I called Bellows (Wed March 23rd) and they sent a very nice guy Sal out within the hour. He did some diagnostics and just the 1 part would be $400. It's a 30 year old furnace.   I weighed my options and decided to replace it rather than keep putting band-aids on an old one. They scheduled me for the following Tuesday and he waived that day's call out fee. The next day I got a call that they moved up my install to Monday. Awesome!  

Sal showed up right on time this morning (actually called to say he'd be a few minutes early).  He installed my new furnace and insulated everything and even checked the ducts in my attic, re-enforcing some that were not quite sealed.  

So here I am just days after calling them with a toasty, shiny, new heater.  I would recommend Bellows in a heartbeat.  Thanks Sal!

If you like to be accused of being a thief, yelled at over the phone, technician running out of your house, charged $150 for 22 minutes of work, then Bellows is just right for you!

The technician demanded payment, I did not have the check book available, or a credit card to cover the amount requested($150). We were expecting to be invoiced, after all, the job was expected to be much bigger.

We called Bellows to help with an emergency: our radiant heating system was leaking.

Your customers are not your enemy!!!

We spoke well over 30 minutes. Most of that time was calming him down from yelling and accusing us of hiring a service that we never intended to pay for. Once he was calm and convinced of our character and intentions, I gave him the opportunity to explain our issue. We ended the call on respectful and decent terms. If that is what you consider a mutual understanding, sure...........?

I called the next morning with payment, however there was no followup from anyone in the company..

My intention with this review is very simple, letting your potential customers know what they may or may not get themselves into.

My original review was one star. I'd like to give them more than two because of their attention to my original post. Here is my original post and below my addition.
Please be aware of what the technician says you need. You may not. The technician tried to charge us $1500 for work on our furnace. I felt uncomfortable with feeling like he was working us. Said we needed a new motor for the fan. Got a second opinion the next day. All that was needed was a $12 part. The first technician would have known this since it is the first thing anyone would check. Maybe this was just a case of a bad technician in a good company.

Stephanie was very attentive to my complaint. she was not defensive and, instead, tried to use it as a learning situation. I'd give 3 or 4 stars but we don't know if there will be a fix of the original problem so I'll leave it up to you. Bellows refunded my full assessment fee. The fee by the second independent technician was $124.  I wish Bellows luck and hope they will prevent this from happening again, (a side note. a friend of mine, quoted from a completely different company received a quote of $15,000 to fix his heating system.  The independent contractor fixed it for $200.)

Quote to replace hot water heater was over $5k. Hired someone else and they replaced with a better unit for $2k. They did promise next day service however, two stars for that. My advice, if you have time, get quotes from multiple companies. Also, google the hot water heater you're buying and check the retail cost. Plumbing companies get the items for less than retail and even the toughest job shouldn't take more than 5 hours with a lunch break. One thousand dollars over the cost of the unit should be more than fair. The plumber we hired is licensed, bonded, insured, on Yelp and very professional. He's a one man shop and extremely trustworthy. Nothing shady about the price comparisons. I'm just writing this review to say if you have time, do your homework....

I recently started looking for a new HVAC system.  I got bids via CostCo from Bellows.   Frankly, they did not even to proper review of my needs and gave me a bid of ~$10000 (without heater or ductwork).  I then got a recommendation from a friend of mine for different company.  Not only they were a heck lot more economical but they moved installed a new heater in the Attic and install all new duct and vent along with nest controller.
Bellow recommendation would have created a mismatched system and created more expenses in future.   He did even check my ducts.
Bellow quoted a Heater @ about $8000 while online for that exact heater was just above $2000!!   I gave the Bellow sale guy to explain but he never got back to me.  These guys are jacking their price up just because CostCo cash back policy.   It is a scam but feel free to waste your money!  Can I give less than one star?

4/23/2018 Update

We love our new Lennox heater and AC unit (already used three times in April) installed by Bellows San Rafael. We had a case of whistling at our air return vent (seemed to be too small to accommodate the upgraded power of the new high efficiency heater and AC unit).

Worked with Chelsea to resolve the whistling; suggested an additional return vent on the lower level of our home. Technicians Del and Rubin arrived this morning for installation. Very professional, made sure nothing got dirty; a few hours later we now have two silent air returns, no whistling what so ever!

Bellows responded to my plumbing emergency ,  they responded quick replaced my shower and a damaged gas line,  installed a new water heater for a lot of $$$.  They left flange under the toilet damaged and I thought it was obvious they would repair it.  They also did not replace service valves in the bath that they cut off.  I was charged $129.00 to move which is on wheels only needed the plug pulled.  

I feel worked by Bellows but the work they did do was good, shoulder joints were excellent.  

I would use Bellows again but I would shop around first.

Just overall very sloppy. They are often late (2-3 hours late), they arrive on days when there's been nothing scheduled. I called once and shared how unorganized they are and the person on the line said, I know. Just hasn't been a good experience overall. Will go with someone new going forward.

We hired Bellows through an offer from Costco to install Lennox HVAC mini-split individual room A/C and heaters. The estimator came out and gave his recommendations on what would meet our needs. The project manager came out to survey our property and explain what work would be required and how it would be performed. We were then given a start date and time and an estimated finish date. The team was there promptly on time the 1st day and every other day. They finished on the estimated completion date. Everything went as planned and was exactly how it had been explained to us.  The installers were professional, courteous and friendly. They left their workspace clean each day. They always wore shoe coverings while inside, and observed Covid-19 prevention protocols.

They came out and solved our clogged kitchen drain quickly and efficiently.  I really appreciated the texts regarding when the plumber would arrive that included his photo.  He came out, did the job, quickly and efficiently.  I am now washing dishes like crazy.  Bellows isn't cheap but having a clogged drain a few days before Thanksgiving is incredibly annoying.  Thanks, Bellows for the quick, no-fuss fix!

This is a long post because I want to be thorough. I know I value a good review when picking a company to do business with, so I hope my review similarly helps others.

I have been a Bellows customer for a few years now. I have not written a review yet because I'm not much of a Yelper, but I was so impressed I had to take the time to do so today.

In the past we have had Bellows perform a variety of small and medium jobs, emergency visits, and inspections on our plumbing and heating. Our house has 1940s original plumbing and it's finicky. Bellows has always come out promptly, been professional and friendly, and been reasonably priced. They're licensed, bonded, insured, and by-the-book, which I like. They come back to fix an issue again for free if what they tried the first time didn't take. I have had other contractor friends evaluate Bellows' work and they have found it satisfactory.

Recently, we needed a very big plumbing job done. The sewer drain system of the house was on the verge of giving out. We decided to have the entire drain system replaced. We went with Bellows, and we're glad we did.

It was priced more reasonably than we expected for such a lot of work. Bellows was conscientious of the cost and time involved, and offered several options for doing the work without trying to upsell us.

Three days later, we had a whole new drain system at the estimated price. We only had to bear 8 total hours without a working bathroom. Everything went as planned, there were no mistakes or issues with the work, and we passed inspection. It was practically painless!

The Bellows crews arrived on time, brought all the gear they needed, did all the prep work, and cleaned up the entire job site when they were done. Every night they left it neat and closed up appropriately for the weather. They had great use of technology and had tablets with job and invoice software. They took before-and-after photos of all the work they did, which I appreciate (and so does my insurance agent). They followed the letter of the law with regards to permits, codes, materials, and requiring a 10% deposit.

There was only one minor complaint we had about the behavior of one of the workers who was present on the first day. When I spoke to the foreman he was extremely understanding, professional, and diplomatic, so the issue was discreetly resolved and that problem employee was not seen again on the job.

It's important to note that everyone we spoke to at Bellows was a good communicator. They listened to our questions, explained everything in detail (over and over again), took our concerns seriously, attempted to help in every way, offered discounts or suggestions without prompting, didn't upsell, and treated us with respect. It was obvious they had knowledge, experience, training, confidence, and strong senses of dignity and self-worth. No conflicts, no messing around, no bs, no attitude.

So here's a special kudos and a very sincere thank you to the professional plumbers at Bellows, who I would not hesitate to hire again and would refer to anyone: Steven J, Chris U, Carlos X, Caleb G, Trevor H; and the office staff: Victoria, Pete, Noelle, and Bianca.

I called Bellows right after my water heater broke and sent a flood through my garage.

The techs they sent did a great job, very professional. The price was a bit high, but given the apparent quality of the work, it seemed reasonable.

After they left, I discovered a couple of new issues that were caused as a result of their work. I called Bellows back the next day and they promptly sent 2 different techs to evaluate and fix the installation. They fixed all of the issues I'd seen for free.

Everyone who came to my home was respectful and professional. I would have given 5 stars, if not for the initial work that was a little bit sloppy.

A few weeks ago the water heater at my home broke while my wife was taking a shower.  It was funny to hear her squeal when the cool water hit! That was the only funny part of our water heater death experience.  I called Bellows to see if they could get the water heater fixed quickly.  Bellows sent out a tech named Nicolas Sanchez the next day.  After taking a quick look at my water heater, Mr. Sanchez told me that my water heater was old and Takagi, the maker, of the water heater, had been acquired by a bigger company so parts were no longer available.  Two lies in the first 30 seconds.  Takagi is alive and well, and parts are readily available.  Mr. Sanchez then told me they needed to install a new water heater.  The quote to install this new water heater was $5500!!!  Mr. Sanchez assured me this is a top of the line unit backed by the Bellows warranty.  I told Mr. Sanchez I wanted to do a little research and I would get back to him.  

I then called Takagi and confirmed they are alive and well. Takagi's rep walked me through troubleshooting the heater, turned out to be a bad circuit board.  A new circuit boards cost $350, the tech at Takagi said I could get 1 of their heaters similar to the original heater for about $550.  So since the heater was 16 years old I decided to replace it.  I ordered the new heater online and made a few call to find a plumber who would install it.  I found a good place that could do the install that Friday.  Cost $960 to install, including a flush valve kit.  The total cost to me $1510.  Crazy that Bellows was $3990 more expensive!  Part of that is they recommended a more expensive heater, internet retail on their heater was $1500, but they were going to charge me $2000, but even IF the heater was worth $2000 that's $3500 to install it!!  It took 4 hours to install!  That $875 an hour!  REALLY??  What a bunch of crooks!

AVOID BELLOWS AT ALL COST!!

This is my second attempt to review this company. They provided us with excellent service, starting with our first call on the Sunday during Labor Day weekend. I hesitate to go into detail since my other review never showed up, even in the filtered section. (Having read through all the reviews, including the filtered ones, I don't know why they do not have a full 5-star rating!)
    They fixed the leak in a temporary manor for the rest of the weekend, and hooked up a hose to provide us with water to the house until they returned on Tuesday. The entire job -- including replacing water line to house since it was a deteriorated galvanized one -- was completed on Tuesday, only awaiting the visit from the county inspector before the trench could be filled in. It was done well, by friendly guys, and we are very pleased. The price, tho not inexpensive, was reasonable.

Please reconsider your filtering and rating system. How does one even reach Yelp to complain about how you are managing these things?

While there were a couple of minor problems (two reversed wires on the first install; installation of incorrect outer unit), the company rectified the problems.  Staff were punctual and polite. The overall installation of my mini split (air conditioning and heating system) was done well, and without much disruption to my life.  I love the system and look forward to ongoing support from the company.

We unexpectedly found ourselves without the use of our hot water heater when PG&E red tagged it. We called Bellows Plumbing later Friday morning as we had had good service from them before. Jared Valdez came to our home, inspected the old water heater, and determined it needed to be replaced. Jared wrote up the estimate, checked for availability and scheduled the installation for Monday. Javier and Hector arrived on time on Monday. They completed the installation neatly and efficiently. They explained all of the details of the new water heater, the safety features, and answered all of our questions. Once again, we have found Bellows Plumbing to be polite, timely and efficient in their service. I would gladly recommend them and will call them again.

I contacted Bellows to get a quote on installing a water softener. I shopped for the water softeners on Amazon to learn about them. I read about 50 reviews of the 1000 available online. The reviews said that installation of the softener takes 1-2 hours for a novice. I figured that a professional plumber could do it faster and better than me, so I called for a quote. First, the answering service took a message. The company did not call me back for 5-6 days. Then, when they called, they would not give me a ballpark for this service or tell me their hourly rate.  I agreed to have their plumbers come give me a quote. As far as installation, this would be the easiest one in the world: the water main, a drain, and an electrical outlet are all right beside my house. So no additional plumbing is necessary. Their quote was $1850, if I provided the softener, and $2500 if I bought it from them. Remember we are talking about 2 hours work for a novice. They said that all 50 of the online reviewers were overly optimistic, and it would take them 5 hours to do this installation. That makes their hourly rate $370/hour.
Then, they sent me an accidental invoice for giving me a bid.

We had Corbin work on the plumbing after we discovered the washing machine was leaking into the basement. He explained every option we had available for repairs so we could make the best decision. I've had plumbers before who just come in and try quick bandaids to temporarily solve the problem. This company took the extra 5 seconds needed to find the cause and made a thorough repair. We have an old house so it is overly appreciated to make repairs right the first time to keep everything running smoothly.

Corbin made time in the schedule to accommodate our schedule best he could. He was courteous and professional.

Highly recommend this company for any kind of house or building you may have.

We've now used Bellows twice.

First time we were on vacation in Hawaii when our neighbor called to report a break in our main water line just outside the house.  I contacted Bellows after finding excellent Yelp reviews.  Their office answered immediately, and I was able to arrange for a same day emergency repair with everything including the estimate and billing handled over the phone.  They even called to assure me the work was done.  It was great not to have to worry during the vacation about what we would find when we got home.

Second time was a simple leak around the base of a toilette.  Andrew found the problem and even did a camera inspection of our sewer line before putting the toilette back in place.  He was professional and personable, a great guy to work with.

Prices seemed reasonable, although I don't have much to compare them with, and didn't get competitive bids.  I definitely felt I got my money's worth.

Our AC stopped cooling, and Bellows sent out Mike this morning to take a look. The company confirmed by text first that he was on his way, then Mike himself phoned with a more specific arrival time (within the estimated window). He was professional and thorough. He discovered that our immediate problem was loose wiring, and he quickly fixed that. Suggested some short term work to make the current unit more stable/efficient, as well as some longer term recommendations for a new unit and redesign of ductwork (the original build left something to be desired in that area). All in all, great service, knowledgeable and professional. We'll definitely use Bellows and request Mike in the future.

I had Bellows come out after I got two other companies replacement quotes for a supposedly non repairable furnace. They sent out Tom Magsam who was very knowledgeable on every aspect of my system! He explained to me the order of operational function of my equipment. He shut the unit of and started it back up only listening to the order of the system! He went to his truck and returned with a new inducer motor. Replace my system I don't think so! Bellows saved me a ton of money I didn't have to spare. Thanks to Tom and Bellows my family is now warm at night.

In scheduling a repair for plumbing leaks/clogs today for clients who are in escrow, buying a home, I was advised that because a home is in escrow there is an additional $275 fee that may or may not be applied to the cost of the repairs - it's in the discretion of the service repairman... I have my credit card out, but am told that we would have to check with a manager to get approval.
Things sure have changed at Bellows!
The inspection fee was $95 previously and now they want to raise that to $275, even if you know what the work is to be done.
Or, I can schedule the work for the day after this home closes escrow and there is no additional in escrow fee...
It would be one thing if I just wanted an Inspection, but I was calling for work to be performed.
So disappointing that I just spent 15 mins on the phone and still no work scheduled... unless I want to speak to the plumbing manager.
I have referred Bellows to all of my clients and friends - I really do not like their new way of doing business - guess they don't need my business!

An update to a previous review: After the water heater install a few weeks ago, I noticed the heater would make a strange chirping sound every now and then. Concerned, I called Bellows back and they scheduled a tech to come back out to take a look right away. It turned out to be Anthony, the gentleman who did the original install. It was great that he was already familiar with the setup. While he couldn't immediately identify the issue, he didn't try to excuse away the issue. Rather, he called the manufacturer and even went so far as to go to the hardware store to buy additional tools to help him track down the issue! In the end, it turned out to be a minor adjustment to the overflow tank pressure (or so we think). While the original install was very expensive, the fact that they were so responsive to an issue speaks to the quality of and dedication to their work. I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for and I believe this is true when working with Bellows.

This was a return trip following a service a month earlier when we needed our AC unit disconnected & reconnected. There was some undetected loss of refrigerant during that first service, and it became evident recently that it was not cooling as effectively as it had been prior to that service. Steve, the same representative, came out the same day I called and evaluated the AC performance. He added more refrigerant and checked the settings and performance, and everything was back to normal. Great and effective service. Truly appreciate the service !

I had to have an air conditioning unit relocated from a second floor down to the ground floor and a new air register added to a room. Simple enough on the surface but both pretty big jobs. I am so happy that someone recommended Bellows to me... Russell was the first rep to come to my place and was great to work with. Once we scheduled, Rudy and Brandon showed up both days on time and worked long hours to get everything done right. They checked and double checked every step, they were friendly and explained everything and the quality of their work was excellent. Bellows sent out electricians and serviceman to confirm everything was in fine working order - and they were awesome too. Five stars for sure. As others have indicated, working with the Bellows team of technicians is incredible in the best way possible.  Let me explain.

We first met Miguel, who helped us do preventive maintenance on our HVAC system and make also some suggestions of potential fixes/checks.  The amazing thing was that they not only do a great job, but he walked us through every step and procedure he was doing, to also teach us and give us some empowerment to keep our HVAC system in good health ourselves by doing minor but useful maintenance.

Then we got Paul for doing preventive maintenance on the house's plumbing and at the same time, see if we could rescue our water heater that was producing popping sounds due to sediment buildup in the bottom.  Paul also walked us through every check he was doing and recommending potential fixes to the plumbing of the house.  To top it off, he did an awesome job on the water heater and the popping sound are no longer there.

I don't think we could ask for more than the level of service and quality they have demonstrated.  They have a club membership that also provides a good preventive maintenance plan throughout the year and seems like a good value to us.  Definitely want to recommend them.

to make a long story short, our asphalt contractor recommended Bellows to replace the main water line to our house, as it was exposed by recent storms and apparently not up to code. meanwhile, our water heater DIED! Bellows to the rescue! New water line, new plumbing, new water heater. Everyone -- from Noelle who helped me arrange financing to Caleb and Trevor (I added a photo) who did the installation work -- is professional and pleasant to work with. I purchased a Daikin split A/C system from Bellows way back in 2011. The system had been working great for years until I noticed that one of the units was leaking water inside the house. I called Bellows to schedule service (this was the Friday before July 4th weekend). I was pleasantly surprised to get a call back (from, i think her name was Sophie...) within 30 minutes on a holiday weekend. We scheduled the appointment for the following Tuesday.

During the service visit, our tech Steve, was courteous and proceeded to perform the standard service to clear out the drain hose. This seemed address the problem.

A month later, i noticed similar leakage from the same unit. I called Bellows again to have them take another look at it. They sent out the same tech who was familiar with the previous fix to check it out again. After some investigation, he determined that the drain hose needed to be re-run to achieve the proper slope for effective draining. He proceeded with re-doing the drain path and was done with the work within an hour. During this time, Steve took great care of ensuring that he left the serviced area better than it was when he arrived. He always wore shoe protectors and cleaned the area up great. I'm happy to report that, so far, this fix is working great. I hope for many more years of use out of this system.

2. The service tech was always polite and showed up on time (even called prior to showing up)
3. I was happy with the service. Ideally, it would have been nice if the issue was fixed the first time, but I'm still giving 5 stars because when I called back, they responded quickly and gave me a discount for the trouble.

Purchasing an A/C system is a big investment. You want to make sure you get an installer that will stand behind their work past the initial install. I'd recommend Bellows because they will have your back!

Mike was a lifesaver during the time we were selling our house in Santa Cruz. He did a sewer lateral inspection for us, came out promptly to do a water certification, then again came out short notice to re-inspect the sewer lateral after hydrojetting was done by another company. We finally decided we wanted to add air conditioning to our two story house in Palo Alto.  We've used Bellows for many years for some property we have in Santa Cruz and accepted their bid to add AC and to replace our 20 year old furnace.  The 3 - 4 man crew they sent was knowledgeable, professional and efficient.  Retrofitting AC to our 100+ year old house was a little complicated but they knew what was necessary.  They removed the old furnace, cleaned up after their work and even repaired some deteriorating ductwork.

Our bathrooms are back to back in our house and both toilets and showers decided to stop draining in the early afternoon. My husband wanted to give it a shot with snaking the line himself before we called in a plumber and by the time that was done it was around 4:30pm. I called 13 different plumbers and Bellows was the only one who had someone they could send out same day. Everyone else didn't have any time till the next day so Bellows really did come to our rescue. A plumber named Peter came out and he was professional, offered great customer service, and was fast! He found the clog and cleared it in about 40 minutes. We have an outdoor couch that sits in front of the access line to the bathrooms that my husband had moved and Peter moved it back in place on his own before he left and wore shoe covers over his shoes when walking in the house. He went above and beyond and we will definitely call Bellows for our future plumbing and heating needs!

YES!  The others said it was impossible to repair without major cost and renovation.  John at Bellows said NO!  2 timely and pleasant visits later... and one wonderfully less painful invoice... and we have our beautiful Roman Tub and Faucet in the best shape of its adult life.

I called Bellows to service my furnace. They quoted me $150 to show up to my door. Any service or repairs to the furnace would be charged extra and they won't tell you how much the service costs.

I needed to deal with sewer laterals for a property sale.  Well, a few days ago, I didn't even know what they were, but I made an appointment with Bellows (recommended by three different people) and I'm so glad I did.  Mike was the person who came out to tHe property to take a look.  As soon as he saw the area , he asked if we were part of a Homeowners Association.  He checked with the County who checked the CC & R's and we were done!  This never would have happened if Mike had not been as knowledgeable as he is and if he hadn't taken the initiative to ask questions.

Jose and Eli are the dream team.  I couldn't be happier with my entire experience.  Costco referred them and I originally was going to get a mini-split Lenox system.  Danny the salesperson came and explained all the options.  I drilled him with question after question.  Mitsubishi actually seemed like a better unit for us given the energy efficiency, despite the higher cost.  Now that Danny and I nailed down the unit- we had to figure out aesthetics.  Let's face it- these things are not pretty in a room and the way they are run externally can be really ugly.  Being a bit obsessed with the yard, I didn't want a normal install.  After spending a fortune on copper gutters- the standard metal cover would not work, nor would harsh angles/square coverings.  I requested they run it in copper downspouts, in a corner, to keep consistency with the job.  Danny said he had never seen it, but they could figure it out- we scheduled it.  Soon enough Jose and Eli showed up with the unit in hand.  They were utterly respectful of my annoying dog who thought they were there for their amusement.  They dealt with me asking a million questions (on abstract heating cooling questions nothing of importance) throughout the process, all with a smile.  They took off their shoes in the house (without me requesting it).  Apart from good manners, a friendly demeanor, and highly tolerant personalities....these guys were talented.  I mean, it was perfect.  Outside- they understood my copper downspout vision and painstakingly taped all the pipes and tubes together to make it fit!  They had never seen it or been asked to do an install like this, but it turned out incredibly well.   For the inside unit, they were able to position it EXACTLY above our bed, in a perfectly centered position on the wall.  Let me tell you- Jose and Eli went above and beyond to do an exceptional job and leave the place clean and nice.   After running the unit, I'm STOKED.  Danny was correct in the energy efficiency of this unit- on full blast it hardly takes 400 watts- and blows a large master bedroom, bathroom and closet with cold air.  All in all- couldn't have been a better experience.  After my last HVAC guy (at a competitor) retired, I thought this was a gamble.  I am pumped to have found these folks.

Worst customer service ever...Had my entire heating redone they talked up a great plan but fell short on the A/C unit been almost two years now and I'm still waiting.I have made countless phone calls to the manager who does not return them.I paid to have all the power ran according to there spec's  but  don't hear from them.I have called the office to complain b ut was told that the person I needed to talk to was the FLAKE handling my service.I did speak to him finally who promised me a call back by the end of the day that was over a month ago.I called the office to leave word for the owner that was 3 weeks ago...still waiting take my advice stay away from these guy's.

Excellent service.  Received a couple of emails prior to techs arriving letting me know they were on their way.  Miguel and Chris showed up on time, diagnosed the problem - it was different that we had thought, offered a fix, then did the fix.  Our system is now working.

Doing business with this company is not worth your time or effort.

Called Richard the technician came out and my old furance needed a few parts. Waited all day no call, called the next day was told he was out sick but they would have him give me a call.
Trying to move things along I did a Web search and possibly  found the needed parts so I email the info to Richard. Still nothing the next day so called again and the response was he was catching
up on email to expect a call shortly. Half the day goes by still no call soooo,  I call again. Now I'm told he's out in the field but she will relay message for him to call. Well guess what
still no call thus the very bad review. Respect yourself and other companies who really care.

I contacted Bellows about a leaking copper pipe at my house. They had great Yelp reviews, but their guy came out, charged me $200 for a repair that didn't hold, and gave me a quote for $2100 to fix the problem.

I have re-plumbed a house before and I knew there was 2-3 hours work there, I just didn't have time to do it myself this time. Their plumber clearly did not want to do the work, he was complaining, making it sound a bigger job than it was, and to suggest $2100 was obsurd.

I had another plumber out, licensed and insured. He completed the work in less than 3 hours and charged $350. No complaining from him, he said it was easy, his work is extremely tidy and guaranteed.

Despite contacting Bellows and asking for my $200 to be refunded, they have not followed up with me and I am still out of pocket.

UPDATE: Bellow Plumbing did refund all of my money after I posted this review.

Great Responsiveness, Competent Plumber, Expensive

We retained BPH&A to replace our tank water heater, which was completed the same day requested (straight 'A' there).  Replacement tank was a standard 50 gallon White Rogers variety, decent water heater per online reviews.  Charges were as follows: $1,700 for the tank (very high), $450 parts and labor - including $149 charge for an 'extra man'.  With the $50 discount from online coupon totaled $2,100.  Tank was professionally installed and works well.

The technician did overstate the warranty period, which is actually 6 years on the tank and 2 years parts and labor.

So, if you are in a hurry and need a reliable but pricey local plumbing service to replace a water heater and quickly - this is a good option.  If you are intent on achieving value, maybe look elsewhere.

We had a plumbing problem under our kitchen sink.  The pipe connecting the garbage disposal to the water line burst open on a SUNDAY!  Water flooding down the kitchen lower cabinet.  We called Bellows and got their answering service, since it was a Sunday afternoon.  I left my number, and low and behold, they called me back within the hour.  An hour later, their amazing technician, John Gibson, was sent out and the problem was fixed within 1/2 hour.  Not many companies will send out a technician on closed days, and they didn't eve charge us extra!  5 stars for Bellows!...they're amazing.

Bellows did an outstanding job installing our AC/Heater unit! They were reliable, prompt, clean and provided great service. They worked 5 days straight and made sure everything was perfect. They cleaned up after themselves and called my husband with updates all day long. Even called when our menace cat Jack, ran outside. They have an incredible team of 5 guys, Michael, Rudy, Ismal, Joe and Derek. Derek came back after unit was installed and spent 4 hours checking and testing everything to make sure everything was working properly. Very very impressed with this company and this team!. Bellows was outstanding from my first call, scheduling next day service to the communications of the schedule time and the plumbing service and great technician.   My expectations are high for service and this team was great.

I did not next day service and it was efficiently schedule with customer service, followed with a text message from the technician on arrival, conformation of arrival to the quote time.   Applause to the customer service representative and their team work

Josh was my technician who updated me prior to meeting, arrived on time and was a good communicator and experienced technician plumber.  Equally important was my problem was resolved quickly, fairly and affordable.   Additionally Josh informed with a good tips on maintaining my bathroom plumbing going forward and understanding of the problem, much appreciated.

I don't know what to say. I am an electrical contractor in the San Jose area. I do a lot of recessed lighting.
Today I made a mistake by nicking a copper pipe with a 5ft drill bit. I was in full panic mode as water from the second story lines were now dumping water on the first floor ceiling and hardwood floors.
I called John Gibson, an old friend from school. He heard the panic in my voice and said I'm on it Mike I can't do it, but will get someone out there ASAP.
15 min later a guy showed up from Bellows. He saw my error and quickly fixed the issue that I had made.
Then he gave me a bill that didn't add up. Most emergency jobs are in the $400-$600 zone and they cut me a break. I would have been happy paying the higher price due to the desperation I was in. The man's name was Gene. I thanked him and called and texted John back and told them that they had saved me today. I still have drywall to contend with, but the issue I had caused was fixed.
Now they could have charged me anything and that would have been fine and expected. They didn't. They were not only fair, they were polite, kind, understanding and fast. Everything I needed today. As a licensed contractor myself, I am not in the trades to just do a job and run. I try and build relationships with my clients and partners within the people whom I trust and work with and for. Today that was tested on my client because I made an error. A bad error I normally don't make. Bellows saved not only me today but my reputation and my relationship with my client, which means more to me now than it did when I received the contract for the job.

We purchased a new Lennox heat pump through the Costco program and Bellows Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning did the work.  What efficiency from start to finish.  The sales team was great, communication with the office was excellent and I can's begin to say enough about the craftsmen that did the installation.  They were very hard workers, very polite and didn't fool around.  They got the job done. Edited:  I had complained about the high cost of a simple repair. Turns out they wave the diagnostic fee if you get the repair (unless diagnosis takes inordinate amount of time.)  That wasn't clear to me. So therefore, no complaints and I hereby change what was a negative review.

The technicians who came were great (one is in training.)  Andrew and Jeremy.  Nice guys. Professional. No complaints at all.

I just want to caution readers about one thing.  Requests for free quotes become $100 service calls before your eyes!  Twice I've fallen for the same thing.  To get the free quote, twice the technicians needed to take things apart in order to provide an accurate quote.  Next thing you know, they're trying to fix the issue and can't.  They leave explaining how much to fix the issue, but would like $100 today for trying to fix the issue today.  This amount will be deducted from the total cost if they come back to finish the job.

If you really want a free quote, make sure you specify you won't be paying for this trip out no matter what.  You only want a free: quote =)

I have had three jobs done by Bellows:
* Replacement of  the sewer main from the house to the street.
* Replacement of 40' of waste line and hydrojetting of an in-slab waste line.
* Removal of old furnace and installation of new furnace.

In every case, I have been 100% satisfied.  They do great work.  They are on-time, efficient and completely clean up at the end of the day and at the completion of the job.  

They have always charged reasonable rates and there have never been any surprises.  They are excellent communicators and make the options, costs, and potential challenges very clear up front.  I've been lucky and didn't run into any of the nasty things that can happen when doing major plumbing repairs and line jetting.  But I knew in advance what could happen and felt that I was making informed decisions.

On the furnace job, they discovered a rusted duct and gave me multiple options, ranging from a very cheap 5 year fix to replacement of the section.  I elected to replace the section.  The additional cost was very reasonable and only covered the cost of materials and the minor additional time to install.

Last but not least, I have personally enjoyed every employee with whom I have interacted.  You know that feeling you get when someone is forcing themselves to be nice but they either don't like you or don't like their job or both?  None of that with Bellows!  They have all been up front, honest and mostly pretty happy, except when banging a knuckle. :)  I have felt very comfortable interacting with them and trusting them in my home.

Of course, my roof A/C would die during the 95+ degrees week in mid-June.  Thru Yelp, I sent request for quote to about 10 A/C repair companies.  Most responded that they were fully booked thru end of June, but the Bellows office promptly called me to arrange for a visit 3 days later.  
On the day of the visit, the office & the tech (Steve) called me to let me know that he was on the way.  I even got a text message that the tech was en-route.  At first, I was a bit concerned that this company's name had plumbing before the air, but everything turned out great.  Steve showed up early for the appointment, made his way up to the roof, and after some troubleshooting and detective work, he found the main problem and also a hidden intermittent problem that was causing the A/C unit to shut-off.  Thanks Again Steve!!
Also, kudos to this company for using technology for communicating and servicing customers.  As I mentioned, I received a text when the tech was en-route.  The repair work and the estimate was clearly explained to me by Steve, on a tablet.  After the work was completed and the payment made, I was sent an electronic receipt for my records.   Later that day, I received a followup text to ensure that the repair work was completed to my satisfaction.
As I sit in my cool house today, I'm reminded again of the excellent experience that I had with this truly professional group of people.

Update.  Our shower backed up and a fine gentleman from Bellows came out.  After trying to up-sell me on some package deal before even looking at the problem, he put a camera under the house and said:

Yep, you have a big root blocking the pipe.  It's gonna be a big job to get that out. This was under the house where there are no trees for 50 yards.  He scoped a bit further and the water started to drain through.  Ahh, there's a crack in the pipe down near the street.  It's going to be a pretty big job. We're going to need to get city permits, tear up the sidewalk, replace the pipe, etc.  You should take care of it right away.    I asked if the crack had anything to do with the recent water blockage.  No, but it may collapse in the future and cause a blockage.  Hmmm.

As he was calculating the bid for the cracked pipe, he asked me what I did for a living. What the heck does that have to do with it?  It shouldn't matter.  After telling me it would be over $3500, I asked him about the tree root blocking the pipe earlier.  Don't worry about it, it's fine.    WTF?  I paid the $100 for him to come scope under the house and denied the other work.  

Here's what happened.  He probably unclogged the pipe with the camera.  At that point, the job was done.  Instead he made up some BS about an urgent tree root problem that later in the conversation became No big deal.   He then pressured me into a monstrous job, unrelated to the blockage, that needed to be done urgently.

Yes, I'll probably replace the crack.  But not right now.

We have a two-story, multi-sided home with a deck, making it a complex place in which to install air conditioning in the second story room above the deck. Richard Castillo and Robert Gonzalez demonstrated their extensive experience, diligence and innovativeness in this installation. It involved ladders, drilling through several kinds of wall surfaces, curving and covering the outdoor connections, electricity management and more. And they worked in hot weather without complaint. Plus they are good communicators. As I worked in my study and periodically went out to observe and ask questions I was very impressed with their work -- and Bellows Plumbing Heating and Air's initial work done to estimate the job.

This is the 2nd visit from Bellows (1st Sept. 2017) and fairly major as my Rinnai tankless water heater shut down overnight. I did all the checks I could and realized it needed a full tech/diagnostic. The diagnostic visit showed a bad flow valve and it was delivered overnight and installed the next day by Josh. The install went much easier and faster than expected coming in well under the 2 hour estimate. Josh/Bellows supervisors adjusted the bill to reflect the ease of installation. This was a big deal to me and very fair. I'll use Bellows again if I can't do it myself.

Sorry but not terribly impressed.  After being charged  $99  for an estimate to have our heating ducts cleaned,  I was told that our ducts were the type that couldn't be cleaned and that the best way to go would be to have them all replaced for $5000.  After consulting with several more HVAC companies we were able to find someone who was able to do the cleaning for $500. The guy who came to do the Bellows estimate was very polite but I think I understand how they can afford all those vans and trucks you see everywhere.

We recently needed sewer lateral inspection work at our home in Santa Cruz County and were very fortunate to have been connected with Bellows Plumbing.  From day one Bellows provided us with exceptional professionalism. It was very easy to make an appointment and they came out the next day. Fixed our problem with the air conditioning very quickly. We got a text with the picture of the technician and he called before he arrived, which was at the earlier end of the time window they told us which was very much appreciated. Pay was also very easy, done on the iPad. Frank was also happy to answer all of our questions and we did not feel rushed. Very happy overall.

The following week after this repair, there was an issue. Emailed Bellows in the middle of the night and they had 3 appointments held for me to fix things asap. (needed to set one with tenants) They came in, tore everything apart, found the issue and fixed it, no charge! Awesome. Still have a few follow up things regarding dealing with related issues caused by main issue, but so far awesome. I was out of town the whole time, so it was a relief to have it done. I'm home soon and I'll double check things, connect with a manager and then hopefully finalize things... so stay tuned...

Professional Company and Install team just installed a Lennox  Split AC / Heat system to replace my 31 year old inefficient  gas heater in our 2700 sq ft home! You get what you pay for and I'm very satisfied with work and USA product installed! They retrofit our home expertly and I believe they are the first contractor we have experienced that came when they said and finished on time ! They were careful to keep our home clean and answered all our questions ! They worked well together and my wife is very pleased ! Really impressed with Mike Bellows.  We were selling our house, and were a bit uninformed on what a sewer lateral inspection was all about.  He came out and did the inspection and failed us due to a root intrusion.  He suggested a Hydro clean out would likely fix the problem.  We went with another organization to do the cleaning job (as they were a bit cheaper), and this other company said it only partially worked and we needed to do more to pass inspection. Those repairs were going to be expensive.  I called Mike on the phone to explain the situation.  Before I could ask, Mike volunteered to come out and reinspect.  Mike promptly arrived, did the inspection, and patiently explained what he was seeing as he did so.  He did a thorough review, and using his experience, fully documented what he found and determined that the sewer lateral now did pass.  He saved us a lot of money by doing a complete review and being honest in his assessment.  He also did both these inspections for free.  Mike demonstrated high integrity and and responsiveness, and really gained our trust by how he operated.  I would not think twice about using Bellows for future work, even if I found their quotes to be higher.  Having trust in a contractor is so critical to ensuring a project does not turn into a money pit.  Thanks Mike!

I'd like to give a thanks to Corbin at Bellows . We've had a problem with sulphur smell in one bathroom.  Corbin tried all the easy fixes first and when that didn't work he buckled down and went under the house. Way way under. I to the belly of the whale. The problem was found! What 3 other Septic tank companies could not find or didn't bother to look for , Corbin found.  An improperly vented P-trap. He got the smell out for now with a cleaning and bleach ,  and will come back next week to complete the vent work along with a septic pipe cleaning and jetting.
Thanks Corbin, my stomach doesn't hurt from the smell and anymore and a week of morning headaches from the obnoxious odor gone overnight!

I recently bought a manufactured home and the water pressure was super low, ~20psi. Industry standard is like 50psi so it was pretty dismal. I called around to a couple places and was kinda confused as to what exactly I needed to get the job done. Two local plumbers said (over the phone) it was going to be at least two thousand and I was going to need to talk to the park and get permission to cut into the lines and do some re-piping. They did not come out to my house to assess the situation, and I just got a feeling that they were trying to hose me. A patient of mine STRONGLY recommended Bellows and I called them immediately. The dispatchers were awesome and super accomodating. This company is totally on top of things. Charlie came out, diagnosed the issue, gave me an estimate for the work I needed done and set up a day to come and and complete the job. I told them from the get-go that this was not an emergency otherwise I'm sure they would have done it that day, but it wasn't necessary. Zach came a few days later and installed a booster pump onto my outside water line and repaired/replaced a leaking angle stop under my bathroom sink. Additionally, he got a rusted laundry supply hose unstuck AND reconnected my dryer exhaust underneath my house. I could not be more stoked with the service and work Bellows and their techs did for me. There were no additional charges, the pricing was totally upfront and they did exactly what they said they'd do, exactly when they said they'd do it. I also really like that I get a text before they show up, with a picture and description of the tech that's coming to my house. Being a single woman, you gotta be careful about who you let into your house, so I thought that was really cool and it made me feel safe. I would recommend Bellows to anybody needing Plumbing/HVAC work and I will absolutely call them again should I need anything else done at my house. A+++++!

I've been a home owner for decades and have never received such professional service. Bellows has serviced my heater, and most recently a variety of pluming problems. Paul arrived on time. He has 30 plus years of experience and knows how to quickly find and solve the problem. He took the time to explain how he was repairing each problem. He was friendly and patient as he worked into the early evening. I'm having Paul come back to install new fixtures. Very satisfied.

John came to our rescue on a Sunday morning after water from a leaking pipe in the ceiling finally broke through the drywall and started dripping into the living room.  We didn't expect such fast, efficient service on a Sunday, but Bellows quickly responded.  John was able to put a temporary fix on a big problem so we would have water until significant repairs can be made by Bellows. As the owner of a water damage restoration company, I see jobs all the time where plumbers come to a home to fix a leaky faucet or a broken hot water heater yet they never tell the homeowner that the leak that they experienced might have caused a secondary issue - water damage!  Bellows is one of the few plumbers that extends their concern for the customer beyond just their line of work.  

Numerous times I have received calls from either the customer or Bellows themselves, letting me know that there had been a leak and could we come and check things out - either to help dry things out - or simply just check the area out and make sure everything is dry.  If those areas are not dried properly, there is a good chance that by the time we are called, rather than drying something out we are looking at mold remediation.  That's where Bellows is different.  They don't just walk away after their job is done.  Because they have been educated....they educate others.  Great job Bellows!!

Sal is a find for Bellows and they should shower him with gold and jewels to keep him happy.  

I have used Bellows to do plumbing for several years.  They are always on time, professional, and do great work.  Their prices are very fair and they have never tried to up-sell me on things I don't need.  Recently, my forced air unit failed.  One of those difficult problems where it works for a couple of days, fails, and then works for another couple of days.  I had the company that installed it out...$250 and they couldn't fix it.  Said they would call back and never did.  Had two other companies come out...each charged me about $250 and said they couldn't figure it out.  I worked though the manuals and flashing error light to decide it was the control board.  I called a third company company to change the control board and they charged me another $250 plus the board.  The unit ran, but took hours to heat my house.

So, I called Bellows.  They scheduled Sal.  He called to see if he could come a day early and then arrived on time.  He found the two-speed fan was only running on one speed.  And, there was a flashing error code that said the air was too hot.  He couldn't figure it out.  But, unlike the other four guys, he wouldn't give up. He spent hours trying things and calling for more information.  Finally, he figured out that the control board should have fixed the problem, but the guy that installed it left on two clips that kept it on slow speed permanently.  He removed the clips and it works perfectly now.

The other guys had no problem charging me for not fixing the problem.  Sal fixed it and charged me less than any of the others.  He said I shouldn't pay for time it took him to figure it out, just the time to fix it.  

Bellows should make sure they hang on to Sal.

This is a really well run business. We found them through Costco. We needed a central air unit swapped out. Scheduling was smooth. My wife had all her questions answered quickly via email&phone. Also smooth paperwork wrt the contract. All the work was very professionally done. Any issues we encountered were due to the 24yo prev unit/furnace. All the new work done was very good quality no mistakes.

No need to go into details.  Almost all aspects of home drain stoppage service were excellent, and the cost was fair and reasonable.  Fully satisfied.  Technician, Seth, was highly professional and personable.

Only issue is that calling after-hours to leave a message (or to have requested emergency response) was broken.  Frustrating and might have prevented next-day service appointment. Just needs to be resolved immediately.

I've wanted to add air conditioning to my house for a while, and this summer I finally started making calls. I talked to a couple other AC companies first and they were so awful I nearly gave up on the project.

I'm glad I didn't give up! I called Bellows, and they made the process unbelievably easy, and every single person has been a pleasure to interact with.

Jeremy came out, looked at the site, and made a very reasonable quote based on what my realistic needs were. He didn't try to upsell me on the most expensive system, and instead suggested a system that was exactly right for my needs in terms of size, energy efficiency, sound, etc. It was a straightforward, thorough, and honest interaction. He wasn't sure if my panel would need an upgrade, so he had Russell come out to double check.

Like Jeremy, Russell was a pleasure to work with. He looked over my system, confirmed we didn't need a panel upgrade, and immediately noted some code violations from the existing heating system ... and said he'd have his guys fix them for free.

When I had questions about the payment process, Colleen from the office was a pleasure to work with. Friendly, professional, and sorted my questions out immediately.

Finally, the day of the install! Michael and Mikey show up (on time) and immediately got to work. They're rockstars! The second they showed up, they immediately got to work, and they worked hard all day. Not only did they do a fantastic job of installing the new system, they went way above and beyond to fix a ton of issues that weren't their problem to begin with. They replaced old rusty gas line, insulated a bunch of my system, fixed code violations, repaired drain lines, and a few other things. They also went through and ensured everything in my system was strapped down in case of earthquake. Total rockstars and I can't say enough good things about them, or Bellows.

My experience with Bellows was universally positive. I don't have a single complaint about the whole process, and i'm so happy I called the professionals. I have some plumbing work I need fixed, and there's no question who i'll be calling to fix it!

I had a great experience with these guys. I called on Labor Day weekend and they got back to me in less than two hours. The guy who came out was friendly, explained what was wrong and how he would fix it, how much it would cost, etc. He fixed it and it was done.
We had gotten another quote from rotorooters, who misdiagnosed the problem, said they couldn't fix it until Labor Day weekend was over, and were charging more.

He was competent, efficient, and considerate. And their folks on the phone were great, too. Great price, as well. This is an update to my previous post. I received a call from the owner and she was kind and apologetic.  I hope my experience was an isolated incident.

Bellows sent two techs out to bid a new furnace. I was told the bid would be ready in two days. After a week I called to check on the bid, it still wasn't ready. Two days later I received the bid. In the meantime I had requested a bid from ASAP appliances. This bid was given within hours of my appointment and was $1000 less.

Had an old (13+ years) AC Unit. Called Bellows, arranged a visit. They came out and showed me the problem. We discussed options for new vs old with no pressure. Decided on new purchase and a cleaning & refurbishing of duct system.. The crew from Bellows was prompt, professional, cleaned up after themselves. Kept me informed throughout the day. Showed me all work accomplished. Their office called after each visit to make sure I was provided satisfactory (actually it was outstanding) service.

ANOTHER wonderful experience with Bellows.  Today was a toilet installation along with some other things and MAJOR duct work.  Nick Davidson and Austin Carter called when they were on their way.  They were friendly, professional and worked hard under our house all day.  I felt so good with all the work that had been done.  This is a tough job and they were here all day with a smile on their face. They went over everything they did at the end of the day and even sent me a link to my updated thermostat so I could use it via wi-fi.    Everyone at Bellows is amazing....now I just met two more guys I can add to that list.

I would like to give Bellows 10 stars but yelp only does 5.

Situation. My mother is elderly lives in Campbell and she had a clogged drain. I'm can usually snake myself or use chemicals. This one was a real challenge and would budge. Had a coupon for a plain rooter company they came, gave up, but wanted to replace all the drain lines, a very expensive job.

Action. My mother is suggested BELLOWS since they are Diamond Certified and have good yelp reviews. Bellows sent Kevin and Shade out for an FREE Evaluation. Shade did the snake machine, while Kevin inspected below the house.

Results After much determination Shade finally got the stubborn clog out, HOORAY... 50 years of gunk, YUCK!! Kevin showed my photos of just the corroded plumbing, He gave us a very competitive bid. He suggested just the corroded parts be replaced within a month or so..... We didn't feel pressured or being sold anything we didn't need. Additionally both were very clean, used jumpsuits under the house, brought their own work mats and were very friendly and professional.

We are scheduling the repairs with Bellows early next week. I have used a number of plumbing services in the past. I will go to Bellows in the future. Thank You Bellows and keep up the Great Work.

Great work installing our new furnace and AC units that we purchased through Lowe's. Our vent system didn't pass the HERS test and Bellows had to send a crew out to seal the vents and get it prepped for retesting. Bellows sent another crew out to do a pre-test before sending the HERS guy back out to make sure it would pass. Nice that they do that, but would have been nice (and saved us time) if they had done that from the get-go. The City inspector is out today to sign off on the permit. Nice that Bellows sent one of their way plumbers to accompany the inspection. Would recommend Bellows.

First impressions matter.  I contacted Bellows via telephone to inquire about some service work on our furnace & gas fireplace.  The lady that answered the phone very quickly advised me they were booked out & couldn't do anything for us.  She gave me every reason to believe that they were far too busy & somehow annoyed by being bothered with answering the telephone.   Very matter of factly abrupt, with no referral.   Pretty cold phone call (just like our home is right now). I'm glad Bellows has such a great customer base that they feel no need to try & obtain future customers, or at least work with a caller on a referral. Not a great way to run a business Bellows.  I wonder how many business owners realize how important that initial contact with a potential customer can be? Like I said, first impressions matter.  We'll be finding someone else.

I would give bellows a zero stars review of that was an option but unfortunately it's not. I feel extremely ripped off by the entire process. I was completely overcharged and Bellows plumbing,  all of their plumbers are on commission. Their whole job is to charge as much as they can for each job that happens. I found another plumber in the area and was able to reduce my charge by $8000. I wish I would of never called them for this job. I owe them 1600.00 for a job that is not even complete. Check around and there is so many other options in our county over bellows.

This is my second review of Bellows because they are consistently fabulous. I bought my house in 1989 and have been using the wall heater that came with the house.
Since then it has deteriorated to the point that I no longer felt safe having it in the house.

Kevin from Bellows came out on a Wednesday and did a thorough inspection and reccomended a replacement heater. We discussed options and he worked with me on finding a heater that would meet my needs and not cost a fortune.
Michael arrived on time on Friday morning with the new heater. He had the old heater out and the new one in very quickly, while thoroughly checking that everything was working right before he left.

Kevin and Michael are professional and helpful. They are very thorough and make sure everthing is running correctly before they leave. They are also very personable and easy to work with.

Our heating system stopped working so I called Bellows.  I've not used them before, but they have been around a long time, so I called.  Miguel was great, he came out on a day when our road was muddy and slippery and didn't complain.  He was knowledgeable and professional and got the job done.  (Too much dog hair)  I would recommend these guys.

I used Bellows today to clean a dryer vent that terminates through our roof.  I was reluctant to initially call them due to a not so great experience with them doing similar work about 5 years ago.  However, after striking out last week with another company that did nothing to help us, I decided to call Bellows.  Glad I did!  Although I didn't make it home in time to speak with them myself (because they were able to come earlier) my husband had a great experience and felt good about their skill and ability to provide the service.  They had work completed within an hour and everything is great.  I will definitely use them for this vent maintenance and recommend to others.

Exceptional Install team - Replaced Furnace and Installed A/C

The team led by Jose Vega were competent, conscientious and professional. Jose led Mikey, Kevin and Jorge to make sure the work was performed in an excellent manner. Sealing the registers, sealing all the areas around the furnace making sure the grade slope was proper to drain the condensate and being sure to keep the site clean. Tim installed the electrical lines, new breakers and outside receptacle in a timely manner and without causing damage to sheetrock. Derek the technician for system startup ran new wires for the thermostat, made sure the systems A/C and Furnace passed all tests and installed the new thermostat. He also explained that the next steps were for the office to contact me for the HERS testing, completion of the install by adding fire stops where the flue went into the wall and to have an inspection by the city inspector. A highly competent team. HERS testing passed followed by passing city inspection. Unfortunately there was a delay for the completion of the work of installing the sheetrock/firestops. Note that if you live South of San Jose it will be late morning before work is underway as the crews are dispatched from Soquel. It was three days for the install. It is recommended that you speak with the field manager when the site is reviewed for the work. That is the person who is responsible for ordering the equipment and will direct the install team on the first morning. Ask the field manager how long the job will take, what to expect, the hours the crew will work, etc. The more you know the better prepared you will be.

I own a vacation rental, which means lots of plumbing problems due to high usage and lots of user errors. After trying multiple plumbers in the area and encountering issues such as no one available for service for 3 days, excessively high prices and poor workmanship, it was a huge relief to find Bellows. They send someone out quickly when there is a house full of people and the toilet backs up. And when I remodeled the bathroom and needed a faucet installed on a specific date and specific time, they were there to do it. I'm totally happy with their service.

I usually go with Surf City Plumbing but when they were too busy, they recommended these guys.

We were really hoping to get our dishwasher working for the weekend so we called on Friday. They weren't able to schedule anything for Friday but could be there on Saturday between 11-2. Great! Well, we waited around and around 4pm got a message saying they wouldn't be able to make it until Tuesday. Saturday wasted. Doh!

On the upside, they were very apologetic and gave us a discount for our troubles. When Tim arrived, he bent over backwards (literally) to make sure everything was done right, and even did a small bit of extra work that he could have easily charged extra for but didn't. He also stuck around long enough to make sure the dishwasher was draining right (and made some adjustments when it wasn't).

Overall, a very good experience. I'd go with them again in a heartbeat.

In the financial sector we say past performance is not indicative of future earnings.
Sadly, this is the case for Bellows Plumbing as well. I have not received any of the aforementioned plumbers recently. In years past they were my go to plumbers. As an out of town landlord it is impearative that the contractors I use are efficient, timely and competent.

Last September, I had a dishwasher installed, replacing a broken one. A kitchen sink leak fixed, a toilet caulked that hadn't been on the original install(by Bellow's as well) and a leak check in a shower and a garden hose re-attached that hadn't been after my entire house was re-piped.(Bellow's) The original bill I received was about $750. Considering the plumber had been to the house for 3 hours and left twice for parts, it seemed really high.For comparison, my husband is a trauma doctor in a local hospital and he doesn't come close to making that much per hour. I called Jason in their office who adjusted the bill to reflect a more competitive rate and thought of it as a one time glitch.

My new dishwasher stopped working so I called GE and they came out only to tell me that the dishwasher was installled improperly, apparently there was no air gap installed due to a lack of a pre-drilled hole on the left side of the sink, there is one on the right and there isn't a garbage disposal. Not totally uncommon, the most reasonable adjustment is found on google, you simply install a longer piece of tubing, tack it to the underside of the sink, thereby forcing the water to be pumped UP and OUT and not simply just RUSH out before the dishes are clean. It really didn't seem like a big deal to fix?  I called the Bellow's office and explained that while I had paid them to install the dishwasher, according to GE it wasn't done correctly so  I gave Bellow's the GE tech's name and number,  the summer renter's name and number. I even went as far as suggesting that the plumber call the GE tech BEFORE going to the house so he would have what he needed. Then as an after thought I mentioned, please put an extra shower head on the truck, the tenant mentioned a problem with the existing head and while I can replace it myself I'm two hours away. I hadn't noticed a problem with the shower head three days before, but things happen. This whole conversation took place at 9am.

At ten minutes to three the plumber who was sent to my house called. He had replaced the shower head and THEN CALLED the GE tech. He said he now knew what to do after talking to the tech, but alas, he hadn't really looked at the dishwasher in his time at the house, he needed access again and the guy there for his summer vacation seemed like he wanted to leave....I can't imagine that a person paying to stay at a beach house wouldn't want to hang out for a day waiting on a plumber, crazy right?  So two attempts by the same plumber to do it right... I'm trying to envision my husband telling his patient, hey, they say the third time's a charm, I think I know how to keep you asleep and wake you up, want to try this one more time?....No way? You'd go with a second opinion too?

Bellow's Plumbing is the kind of business you want to call if you want the job done right the first time.  They will usually be able to get someone out there quick, who has all of the tools and parts in the truck to fix just about any plumbing related job.  They are very professional and clean which you wouldn't think needed to be mentioned, but it does!

If you want the cheapest guy in town, you won't want to call them. HOWEVER,  there is a good chance whoever you do call will not get it right the first time and you will have to call them back or call someone else to fix.  I know because this has happened to me.  

I am used them on my own home and have also referred them to clients of mine and have only heard positive remarks.  I will also disclose that I know the owners on a personal level.

My sewer line was clogged so I called Bellows.  Andrew was here within a half hour. He snaked it, unplugged it, and did a video scope to verify the line was clean. He showed me there was a rough spot in the line that was susceptible to clogging, and advised me not to flush anything other than toilet paper.

Fast, professional, and thorough.  The bill was $190.

I was referred by Surf City plumbing, they were too busy.
I called Bellow's on a Sunday morning for a shower/ tub that wouldn't drain at my elderly parent's 60 year old house.
John Hilberath called back right away and then came out. He identified the extensive problems with the old plumbing, gave me a full estimate and promised to be back the next morning with a full crew and all the materials needed.
He was true to his word, did amazing work and even found other problems and fixed them free under the original estimate. They were respectful of my parent's and their home. They were so professional and competent! I'm going to have them back to flush and service the water  heater and clean the furnace and furnace vents.

For an $89 diagnostic fee, I got a quote of $579/$589 to replace the gas valve on my Coleman furnace.  After calling his boss the repairman then informed me that the replacement valve was no longer available and my only recourse was to replace the furnace at an estimated cost of $3600 to $4800 dollars!

I called another repair service who promptly ordered the replacement valve from the Coleman supplier and completed the repair 2 days later for a total cost of $273.84. The real repairman, Phil Bogner, also told me that if he had to replace the furnace it would cost approximately $2200!

These guys installed a huge mini-split system for me at my mountain property (3 outdoor heat-pumps and 6 indoor units). The setup and planning for the job took several weeks, which, I'll be honest had me a little worried. Communication is a little fractured at times, with several people in-house that don't always seem to stay in perfect sync. They're all super-friendly and helpful, but sometimes a little disconnected. Stick with it-- it gets better.

When install day finally arrived, I was totally impressed with the crew. They were the most helpful, respectful, knowledgable contractors I've ever worked with. They not only treated me with respect and deference, but they all seemed to genuinely like their jobs and co-workers. The company morale really showed, and the work was all done in a skilled manner. They spent time making sure I understood the control systems, and even went out of their way to move some electrical boxes so I'd still have access to them after the install. I'd recommend Bellows for anyone looking to install a large HVAC system. I'll definitely call them again when I need help with plumbing or other work. They are low-drama, helpful, arrive on-time, and are genuinely nice guys. Shout out to Michael, Jose, Jo, Tim, Russ, Sal, Danny, and Preston. Hope I didn't miss anyone.

I added another star because I received a letter from Bellows apologizing for not showing up. They offered to pay $50 worth of my bill from the other plumbing company OR $150 worth of free service from them if I decide to give them another try.
I was happily surprised that Bellows went above and beyond to try a rectify the situation and bad experience. I guess that is why the are diamond certified..

Brad provided excellent customer service today. He initially came out to look at our plumbing issue, which was a leaky faucet in our bathroom. As renters our pipes and faucets are not exactly new. Previous work has been done on them prior to us living here and what appears to be shotty work. Brad was on time, efficient, and he took the time to explain what he needed to repair and fix. When a pipe broke unexpectedly his job went from about an hour to 3 1/2 hours. The work he did looks so nice and everything works the way it should have all along. I would highly recommend Brad for your next plumbing job. Plus he is very friendly.

Excellent! Pete arrived at 9:30 pm and was so professional, courteous and incredibly nice. We unfortunately have major issues with a 75 year old home. Literally up to my ankles in sewage. Fixed the issue and took care of it. Pete noticed an issue with our gas valve, will be back in the am to fix.

My gas wall heater (Cozy brand) has been a real pain for the last couple of years.  It was getting towards the end of its shelf life.  Bellows has serviced for me a few times and I decided to go with their quote for a replacement.  Spencer and Alexis had the old heater out and the new one in and working less than 2 hours.  Yeah!  Highly recommended.

After dealing with a couple other plumbers trying to get some issues dealt with. I was so frustrated with sub par customer service & extra wait time for the appointments (not being prompt) I live in mountains & it appears most service companies have an issue with it. Anyways called Bellows only because I've seen them driving up to Bonny Doon often, I was informed of an extra service charge for long distance, which no problem esp if I get good service. After their first visit, I was very impressed excellent customer service & Andrew was so friendly & willing to check out other issues with our messed up plumbing. He not only fixed the main problems but then helped arrange another team Member to come out & do a larger job under the house where he found broken pipes. I want to thank you for the 5-star service I received.  This was a big job. They replaced the sewage line for me with absolutely great service and great price.

    Some of the companies would not come out to give us a free estimate - they wanted to charge $200 upfront to use a camera. Bellows did not charge anything. Customer service and satisfaction came first and they sold us on the job.

        John is very personal, professional, and competent. He obviously loves his profession and working for his company. He was more than happy to patiently and thoroughly explain everything that was being done. He is great.

     Also, the Santa Cruz Public Works department was very helpful and gave me very good advice. I really appreciate that.

    Yesterday, we used this company again to repair a bathroom shower faucet at another property. The first company that did the job failed. Nick came from Santa Cruz to Sunnyvale. He was also thoughtful, professional, and knowledgeable. He had no problem fixing the problem. I asked him why everyone was so nice and he said that the owner of Bellows treated the employees with respect. This attitude was passed down to the customers.

I've had great service from Bellows on several jobs large and small, including installing a tankless water heater to repairing a pipe in the yard that tree roots had grown into to moving a gas line and pipe for our kitchen when we remodeled.  Everyone who has come out has been professional, courteous, and did a great job...the problems were solved, and are still working well today.  Will use them again, no question!

I called this plumber for a small leak under our kitchen sink. They were incredibly prompt, came out right away to fix it, and did a great job. The problem was I then got an outrageous bill. When I called to ask about it, they let me know that they are a full service plumbing company with a 24 hour service policy, thus the high price. They were very upfront about the fact that there were other great plumbers out there doing just as good of work for significantly cheaper. If you are desperate for a plumber, a situation where it is late at night or on a holiday where no other plumbers are available, I would definitely recommend this service. However if you are not absolutely desperate, make sure you take the time to find a different plumber who can do the same job for you, and save you a lot of money.

This review is to commend Nick on the installation of our new Lenox furnace. We understood this to be a two-day job and did not expect to have heat until day two. Nick was not only a professional and a pleasure to work with, but he stayed until we had heat on the first day! He was back out to finish the installation the following day. There were a few decisions that had to be made during the process, and Nick kept us informed of all of our options and his recommendations were spot on.

We called Bellows on a Tuesday of what was one of the coldest weeks of the year, as our wall heater wasn't functioning. Surprisingly and thankfully, Bellows was able to schedule us the same week. Found the issue to be a minor one, which was addressed immediately. And Sal cleaned the filter as well, then called to report his findings (as I was unable to be on site when he did the work). This is our second dealing with Bellows, and we've found them to be professional, friendly and efficient. Will be calling them again when future issues arise.

In my 40 years of hiring plumbers this was the most outrageous estimate I have ever gotten. My girlfriend had a leak under mobile home. I went under and took a look and saw that a 2 inch PVC drain pipe had become loose and was leaking under the house. She called Bellows and they sent out Andrew who quoted a price of $850 for the repair. She had to pay Andrew $100 upfront for the estimate by the way. After she said she was going to talk to her boyfriend he sent a hand written quote on a plain piece of paper lowering the quote to $650.
I had taken photos of the leak and showed it to my professional plumber friend. He said the repair should take under an hour and cost about $15 in materials plus labor. He had other words to describe the estimate but I won't use them here.
 I then called Andrew back and he agreed that he was basically just going to put a piece of tubing in to repair the break.
I then called Bellows to see how they could justify $650 and Mike the manager assured me that it could possibly take three hours and that they charge $221 an hour. He felt charging $650 to make two cuts in a PVC pipe and replace it was justified.
Please be aware that the $221 an hour figure was from Mike's mouth and that if you want to deal with Bellows as plumbers be aware of this.
In response to Chelsea's review below I did not try to extort money from her. On the contrary she offered to pay me the $100 fee back if I would take down the review.I never said I would see her in court. I was referring to the company that her company referred me to that ended up charging $900 for one hour worth of work(bellows would not open up the insulation because it was waterlogged. They recommended this other company to my girlfriend before they would do any work). My girlfriend is out $1000 for something that should have taken one hour to do. If these two companies had had their way she would've paid almost $2900 for the repair. Outrageous!

I purchased replacement heating and a/c systems from Bellows. I was very happy with the installation experience and everyone was great. About 6 months after initial installation, summer time hit and after using our a/c for a few days, it would cut off with what turned out to be a drain problem. Bellows was great about responding, however, the issue was difficult to pinpoint and after multiple visits the problem would reoccur. Then, they sent Tom Magsam out to see why this wasn't resolved. He took a back to basics approach and instead of just assuming what the problem was started from square one to make sure no issue was missed with any part of the system. And found the issue and it now seems to be resolved. Tom truly understands the nuances of how these systems worked. Yes, it would have been great if if could have been resolved by others on the first try, but I am glad that Bellows stood behind their work and seemed determined to resolve the issue as much as I was. If not for this issue, I would have given 5 stars because everything else has been great and Tom always deserves 5 star reviews.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting two Bellows' service representatives, Sal and Bianca, who assessed and fix my aging heater/furnace. I was most impress with their customer service skills: greeting the customer, listening to my ramble regarding my heater and most all, their knowledge and resulting recommendations.  The other piece to my experience is that Bianca was partaking in a service ride along, for an expanded knowledge base when addressing customer concerns.  This speaks volumes! Any company that takes the time to train their frontline customer service staff is a company that really cares about their employees and overall customer service.  I super appreciated Sal's informative approach as I learned a lot about my heater and future maintenance needs, etc.  Thank you Bellows for hiring and training the good people who came to my home yesterday. As a result, I signed up for your maintenance program (totally worth it Yelpers!).  Next up: Water Heater. :-)

If you ever have a plumbing or heating emergency this is the company to call.  They are there in a snap, communicate with you and get the billing to you promptly.  They are true 24/7 plumbers who are professional.  They are a first rate company to work with.  I have used Bellows on my personal home and in my property management business.  They get back to my tenants immediately and keep me in the loop as well.

I LOVE EVERYONE I CAME IN CONTACT WITH!!!! I don't think I have ever said that about any company EVER! I have lived in my house for 18+ years with no A/C and no cable. I am not one to pay for anything I don't have to but since I took up baking, I kinda had to get A/C. From my sign up at Costco with  LaDonna, then when Carl came to do the paper work with us he was also so pleasant, so normal, not all text book stiff professional. Then Russel came by to check out the area they had to work in and even he was awesome! Even when I was late for the appointment and my son wouldn't let him in the house. He was understanding, we even laughed about it. A few weeks later Michael, Elijah, and Tim came and put the unit in, cleaned the air ducts, put in our new thermostat, and were so awesome while here. They even had a nice presence about them, you know sometimes when people come to work on your house you kind of want to watch everything they do and whisper to your significant other about them or even have a friend come be with you while they work. These guys barely made a sound (except when vacuuming out the vents) and they were so nice. They were so honest with not really knowing how to program the thermostat unless they read the directions...It was honest and really, I could just do that myself, that's the best part of getting a new toy plus, everyone wants everything done for them. They proved that the air worked because it cold QUICK in the house. I don't know if I could say enough. I am so glad I went with this company who really made me feel glad to spend the money I did with them. I have had companies come do work where I felt like, you're just trying to rip me off. I can only say, I LOVE THEM ALL!!!!!

A big thank you to Paul from Bellows Plumbing!  Our sink was backed up and none of our basic fixes were doing the trick.  He came out and when his first attempt to roto didn't solve it he became a detective, trying to determine the source of the problem.  We have some wacky plumbing, but Paul was able to move the clog along the line from the sink to the bathroom and clear it out from there.  So glad he kept at it, and thankful to have a fully functioning house again!

We were able to schedule the appointment on short notice, we were kept notified when to expect the technition and even received a text picture of Sal so we knew who we should let into the house. Bellows was able to offer an appointment (on a Saturday) three days before the competition could make it. HVAC Tech Kris Craig called to see if he could come two hours earlier than scheduled, which was great for us. He diagnosed the problem with our Bryant Plus 80 furnace in no time, had a replacement capacitor on his truck and did a couple other improvements while he was at it. He also made a good case to sign up for Bellows' annual maintenance plan, which we did (and got a discount on the service to boot). Of course we paid vastly more for the capacitor than if we'd bought one ourselves. But we would have had no idea that's what was needed, so we didn't mind paying for expert service. Which Kris delivered.

We had a Sewer back up disaster and Mike Murrow came by at the end of the day and was great, he worked with us and actually showed us what was going on with the camera.  He gave us an estimate upfront and was honest about what needs to be done long term to fix our sewer back up.  
He advised us on what we can do to save money for the big repairs needed and yes he fixed the problem at 6PM
We are new to Aptos and the people here are so honest awesome and customer service focused.
I would recommend Bellows for any plumbing needs!

I just had Jeremy, the technician from Bellows plumbing come to my home. Professional, prompt, great communicator, loves dogs, I have four, crawled under my house and looked at my system. Jeremie found two wires that were being shredded by the fan because the previous poor installation from another heating and air company that installed my furnace as last year. He wasn't even there to look at my system or repair anything, he was there to talk about a dehumidifier installation. As a courtesy he repaired the situation so my system will not stop when we needed it the most. He never charged me for the service call. And was happy to show me some other features that Bellows plumbing offers including their awesome app that shows you a picture of the technician that's coming to your home, a little bio aboutThem and some of the things they like to do in their spare time. I decided to give them 5 stars instead of 4 because since then I have had dealings with various contractors who were very expensive and gave poor results. Will use Bellows again.

I felt completely ripped off.  They came out and it turned out to be an issue where the door on the furnace was so slightly ajar that the unit would not turn on.  He fixed it in 35 seconds and charged me for a full hour service call.  Now I realize the appointment had to be scheduled and it takes time out of the tech's day but to be billed the full hour is ridiculous.  In my business we pro-rate our service calls to the 1/2 hour.  They were not willing to work with me so I will never use them again nor refer any of my friends.  Support locals business, sure, and get ripped off.

Paul B. showed up within an hour of my call for what I assumed would be a straightforward drain snake-out and and faucet installation. Unfortunately, the job entailed a series of repairs and replacements of dependent parts before the easy stuff could be addressed. Paul remained cheerful as each rusted pipe, broken valve and kinked hose presented itself, insisting on thorough testing of each repair before moving on to the next. He was professional, courteous and competent throughout a frustrating and uncomfortable ordeal.

Do not use on older house repairs.   No advance quote was given for plumbing repair, although they claim they always do this.   Read their owner comments  on yelp and their site about clarity, not SO.  They had no problem  taking an advance credit card deposit.  The water was off, so they were not needing to rush or hurry.  They  did not let me know their poor terms in advance or I would not of authorized any work.  I did not sign an invoice.  A tenant did.  I came to look at the repair that night and their work left a leak within 8 inches of the replaced valve.  I am glad I went over, they shouldn't leave a leak.  What I received by email the night of repair was 1st an email stating I needed to spend $20,000-$30,000 to repipe my house.  High $ first.!!! Then l later received an invoice for the  repair work with a bunch of modified added explicit terms stating they do not guarantee anything around their repairs.  Key is you don't send $20,000 quote to shock someone and then send an invoice with Handwritten unagreed to terms.  A nice tech followed up the next day and mentioned that the handwritten notes meant they don't guarantee that when they leave, it is leak free since older homes can have an existing pipe a few inches from  the repair and one can expect leaks when they leave.  Why work in an area if the leaks are not stopped? If risky call me. They had time to get a deposit.  Glad it wasn't in the middle of the wall.  Surveys and customers service follow ups confirmed i was stuck for over $600 and still had leak.  They recommended an area fix for $1200 but would not credit the lost $600.  Sad that they take $ deposit first.  But if poor terms they disclose after the fact.   This is not good.  Also why sticker shock someone with $25,000 repair before letting them know work is in progress or being completed. I was available.  Looks like they police the social channels For follow up.  Not right.

Bellows Plumbing sent the technician Paul Boyd out to take care of my plumbing issue and he went above and beyond to take care of my clogged drain. Not only did he take care of the problem promptly but he gave me tips on preventive things I can do monthly to protect the pipes if my 1938 home. He also recommended the preferred customer package which offers discounts in future service as well as a maintenance service three times a year. Seth flushed and descaled my outdoor tankless water heater. He was prompt and called 20 mins before he arrived for the 10:00 appt. He greeted me with a friendly smile and went to work. I chose Bellows primarily based on the Yelp reviews.  I am very glad I did as I am very pleased with the professionalism, the timeliness in being able to install my new system.  Most importantly was the professional installation crew, Michael and Rudy.  They called prior to arrival, which was on time, they got right to work and worked until the unit was installed, duct work completed, instructions provided, system checked and left the work area as clean as they found it.  Both installers worked well together, even though Rudy had just recently joined the company.  They both remarked that they enjoyed working for Bellows.  It's refreshing to see people who truly enjoy their jobs, it usually means they care about the customers as well.

My furnace decided not to work.  BRRR 47 degrees at night!  I called Bellows because they had done a great job when I had a leaking water heater. They had someon come out the same day.  Sal came out and was very polite, thorough and patient.  He explained what the problem was and had it taken care of quickly.  This young man is truly an asset to the company!  I'll be asking for him if I have another furnace issue. Great company!!

II cannot comment on the quality of work from Bellows, because we didn't get that far after I asked for a quote to replace my electric cook top with a an equivalent gas model I purchased from Home Depot.  The quote was for: 1) installation of a new gas line down from a main line in the attic, and 2) installation of the range.

Bellows' price?  An incredible, outrageous $2140 - almost twice the price of the range top itself and 3X the amount charged by a licensed, competent contractor, who for $750, installed the gas line, cooktop and worked with the county inspector to get sign off on the permit.  

The job was straight forward, requiring only around 3 hours total.  Access in the attic and through the wall was unobstructed and uncomplicated, just as the extensive attic pictures I took showed both contractors before they quoted.

When I emailed Bellows that I'd really like to see the breakdown on this and how you could possibly come up with this figure, they replied we never give cost break downs, we use a flat rate pricing menu book, which 9 times out of 10 brings us to the correct cost to do a project right.  

Right.  I guess Bellows' book uses the price for gold plated gas line and pays workers more than a brain surgeon.  Either that or inflates hours by 3X to do a project right

Car mechanics quote by this exact same method.  They look the job up in their book, come up with the estimated hours, multiply by their shop rate, and add the cost of parts.  The difference?  They show you the number of hours, they have their shop rate posted when you walk in, and they put the cost of parts in the quote so you can see their mark-up.

Bellows never gives cost breakdowns and in this case their were 3X the price of reputable contractor who did the job right (the gas line held 15 lbs pressure for 3 days) and got quick sign off from the county instpector.

Buyer beware on who you trust here.  This scam is as old as it gets.  Charge top, top dollar and prey on those who don't know better and think top dollar must mean they're getting the best of the best.  Especially when there's a fear factor - i.e. a poor installation of a gas line that might either blow up or asphyxiate the family.

I took a class from a wedding photographer who wanted to get out of that business.  He tripled his prices thinking that would do it and he'd just take the few jobs that still came in from people who would actually pay that.  The result?  He got even more business.  It had a reverse effect.  People thought he must be really, really good to charge those prices.  He was truly amazed, but was happy to cut the number of jobs he took and still earn more money than before.

My home warranty company referred me to them when my water heater died. As it turned out, my warranty expired and they didn't auto-renew it: my out-of-pocket therefore went from $75 to $2100. Greg came out the next day (the Sunday after Thanksgiving) and was very personable.

Kevin and Jeremiah came out the following Wednesday, in the rain, and did the actual replacement. They were GREAT. Very personable, knowledgeable and hard-working.

The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because of a conversation I had with Greg the day after he came out. He quoted me a price and I asked him if it was the best he could do: he went mental. It had me shop around for other plumbers. It turns out that his pricing was competitive, and I frankly didn't want to wait the extra few days to get hot water back. So I went with them.

I would use them again and would recommend them. I would suggest that Greg work on his temper a little though, it almost cost him a customer and a reference.

We have searched many HVAC business and what we wanted, including the big box stores.  Out of several requests for bids, Bellows responded quickly to our requested time, the others were too busy to give us a bid, but one. The other bid was to say the least outrageous. Add for this add for that.
Carl came out and measured showed us his recommendations, and all inclusive installed bid, which was over half of the prior bid.
We signed on the spot.
Scheduling was a breeze, they actually came earlier to start, and finished under time.
The crew that came out, Michael, Nick, Steven, Sal were tops, they all introduced themselves, were open and communicative, and explained the process, neat and tidy, drops clothes, vacuumed every night.
This crew actually used a level and square when installing new registers.  No eye balling!
I would recommend Bellows for all needs in the house, call them first and avoid the anguish.

We have used Bellows on a few occasions and have always been very pleased with their work. First was a big job replacing gas lines. Their bid was $1000 less than the other guys and the job was done quickly and efficiently. More recently we had them back to deal with hot water in the toilet tank?!? Richard found the issue immediately and got us back on track. Everyone we have worked with has been personable and professional. Bellows is definitely our go to for plumbing and heating.

I'd love to give these guys a good review; would love to give them our business...they have a great web site and appear to be professionals.  I was therefore pretty bummed when I left work early to make my scheduled appointment...only to get stood up; no call until 45 minutes after the agreed upon time...and then it was to say they wouldn't be coming at all.

I'll give them one more try and will hope to edit this for the better...but there are far too many choices to be treating customers like this...so for now, not thrilled...and letting them know.

I just had a wonderful experience with Bellows Plumbing, installing a new trenchless sewer and upgrading some creative family-done plumbing. Mike provided a thorough assessment of my plumbing needs, both immediate and when I when the lottery levels. Then Shawn and Jerimiah came and did a fantastic job-- in the pouring rain-- putting in the new sewer.  The team was helpful and friendly and a pleasure to work with. Kudos!

I expected to give a much higher rating until I called their office.  The person who answered the phone didnt care that my furnace hadnt worked since they came out 4 weeks ago.  She cared about selling me the extra work they bid - which I dont need and was a mistake. They tried to sell me on the fact that the zones were attached wrong - and then I got under my own house and found they were attached just right.

I dont want to pay for their bid (which was for work I didnt need). But that bid was the focus of the person and she wasnt about to worry about fixing my furnace - only telling me why that bid was needed to be handled.

BAH - is there anyone in the furnace business who cares about the furnace working instead of making more money.

Watch your wallet folks.  Im still cold after paying for a service call and Bellows surely doesnt care.   They want a big job and if Im cold - so what.

Danny from Bellows is awesome!  He is so friendly and knowledgeable.  I feel completely comfortable having him in my home.  I usually wait for my husband to be home when I call the plumber, but Danny is great to have around.  He has a positive energy, knows what he's doing and is very helpful.  His follow-up is great and he explained everything he was doing.  When the work he thought would take longer, took less time - he took money off the final bill.  I highly recommend Danny for any plumbing, heating or sprinkler issues!

I too called Surf City plumbing and they referred me to Bellow's.  I called in the am and they had someone come out the same day.  Jon was on time, very personable & professional.  I felt comfortable having him here and he was very good with my dog (always a plus).  Of course with plumbing, one thing lead to another but when he finished on day 1, he made sure everything was in working order for us to use the kitchen until he returned for day 2.  Highly recommend, only gave 4 stars because I though the price wasn't the lowest but it was definitely worth it.  Will use Bellow's again in the future.

I have used a number of plumbing services in the past. NO MORE. I bought a heating and air system from Costco and Bellows does their installations in this area. After they did an absolutely wonderful job on the installation, I tried some of their service options. I have never been so happy with a plumbing and heating service. They are pleasant, clean, efficient, and friendly. The people in their office have always been super. I signed up for their service plan  and their office calls me to schedule services. Yes, I said they call me. No other service company has ever done this for me. I have recommended them to my friends and I will continue to do so. Thank You Bellows and keep up the Great Work.

Jason did a great job of quickly and efficiently flushing my hot water heater.  He tested all our plumbing and gave our house a clean bill of health.  We talked about several potential issues and he gave me good honest advice.  None of the issues were in need of repair at the current time.  Best of all he didn't try to upsell me on fixes I didn't need.  Thanks Jason.

We recently used Bellows to repair an Air Conditioner unit. The previous contractor who came out actually made our system worse. The home office CSR was courteous and professional and the tech, Matt H. deserves special mention...was extremely professional, knowledgeable, timely and courteous. He quickly identified the problem and went out of his way to help ensure that the broken part was warranted. A/C is working great and should for the foreseeable future. If (when) we ever have more HVAC needs, Bellows and Matt will be our first call. Keep up the great service and thanks!

I called five furnace repair shops in my area none of them were able to get out to my house within a week or two!  Bellows had somebody available the next day, so I went with them.  We scheduled an arrival window of 1:00-3:00.  Steve called me at 12:45, saying he could be here in 15.  Talk about on time!  Anyway, he was efficient, courteous and patient with my barrage of questions.  And, he fixed my problem.  He also told me about some of the weird things my old unit was doing and how long he thought it might last.  He gave me tips about getting my old pilot light to work (it turns out that thing ages right along with the rest of the furnace).  He also checked to see if I had enough carbon monoxide detectors (I don't), and explained how my old unit could start to emit that gas, so I should have the right amount in the right places.  He left me with quotes for replacing my furnace with a choice of newer models, saying I might get another 2-3 years out of the one I had.  All in all, I was very satisfied with the whole encounter.

I had an awesome experience with Bellows!

A few years ago I called them to came out for a clogged shower drain and it ended up being something that was completely resolved with a blast of hot water down the drain.  Of course, I had not figured this out on my own prior to the service call, the gentleman who came out from Bellows had by taking the time to try a simple fix before completely digging in to the job and racking up an invoice.  I was so impressed and grateful, that I put them in my memory bank for future use.

Fast forward to last month, and my home in Santa Cruz was in a sixteen day escrow and I had to scramble to have my toilets and shower heads retrofitted for low-flow before I could close escrow.  I called Bellows and they were able to schedule me for a free estimate right away.  Again the gentleman who came out took the time to check my toilets for date stamps to make sure they even needed to be upgraded in the first place.  They did, and I was promptly scheduled for an installation that would work within the constraints of my atomic fast escrow.

I felt that they were definitely competitive with their bid (Each toilet, fully warrantied, installed, and old one hauled away, was priced under $100.00 from prices at Home Depot).  They also installed the low-flow shower heads I purchased free of charge.

The day after installation, the same day I had to be out of my house, I noticed some water on the floor by one of the toilet's shut-off valves.  It was the absolute last thing I needed!  Several people were going in and out of the house and I had just a couple of hours until I had to turn over possession to the new owner.   I was fairly panicky when I called in to report this problem to Bellows.  The woman on the phone was very understanding.  She was able to get someone out to me within an hour or so between calls to make the small repair it took to correct the problem and get me out of my house on time.

If I hadn't moved out of the area, I would definitely use Bellows for any and all future plumbing needs.

We had our house tented for termites and when PG&E came out to turn our gas back on, they discovered a gas leak on our side so we called Bellows to get someone out to fix it and they were able to send someone out within a couple of hours.  The first guy to come out was a bit rough and ended up leaving after only a short time but then they sent Chris out and he was awesome.  He spent the next several hours identifying and fixing leaks and when the day was drawing to close, he clearly spelled out what still needed to be done, how the billing worked, what would happen the next day and what we needed to do.  Originally he had another job for the next day but managed to reschedule so that he could come back out to our place and finish the work he'd started.  The next day, he crawled around under our house ultimately identifying and fixing a total of 9 leaks and was thorough, professional, kind, and excellent at communicating along the way.  I'm fairly convinced that if we'd had the first person who came out do the entire job, we wouldn't have been nearly as pleased.  As it is, we're completely satisfied with the work done.  I'd recommend this place but with the caveat that you make sure you are comfortable with anyone they send out before you agree to any work.

Bellows is simply the best.  Refreshingly professional, knowledgeable, efficient, and courteous.  I called Bellows to service my systems and repair a problem with my dehumidifier.  Miguel arrived on time and got right to work.  However, before starting, he went over what he was going to do and explained why he was doing it.  When he found some minor problems, he showed them to me and explained so I fully understood.  It was a pleasure having him service my systems.  Moreover, Miguel explained Bellows' SERVICE CLUB to me.  It was a no-brainer.  For significantly less than I had been quoted, I could join their SERVICE CLUB and get two additional services per year, as well as some other perks, for significantly less money that the current service would have cost (and the current service was included in the SERVICE CLUB price).  Yes, with Bellows, it is truly as good as it gets.  I cannot give a higher recommendation.  This company has the old fashioned view of what customer service should be, and it is wonderfully refreshing.  We need more companies like Bellows.

There was no option for zero stars so I gave them one star.  Rude, very high prices and they diss the competition.  No thank you.  How the hell did you get Diamond Certified?  Makes me believe Diamond Certified is not much of a rating.  We wanted the lines snaked and some washers replaced.  This brilliant plumber didn't even HAVE WASHERS in his truck.  He wanted to replace everything.  We ended up contacting our old plumber who we thought was no longer in business.  He did everything for less than what this guy from Bellows was going to charge us for snaking alone.  Why was the snaking so expensive?  Because he would have had to go over and turn off the water to the house!  Please give me a break.  Call Christensen's for quality service that won't cost an arm and a leg.  Oh, and you won't have to listen to this guy talk about how great a plumber he is and how much the owner LOVES him.  What a gas bag.

These guys were great! We had to get our water heater pilot light relit and they showed up and got it done quickly! I know that's an easier fix than most plumbing issues, but it was a super stress for us because we didn't want to damage our rental by messing up the water heater doing it ourselves. Only problem is that they gave us a big range of time when they would be coming, so I had to take time off of work to wait around all day.

I've had Bellows out to do several jobs at mine and my Mom's house.  They have always showed up when they said they would, quoted a fair price, and I've been pleased with the work.  Once they even came out and worked for quite some time on my old furnace before telling me it wasn't worth it to fix, and didn't charge me anything.  They are always very polite too.  I would highly recommend them.

Mike came when he said he would to my personal home for a leak, fixed that, and proceeded to help me out with another minor issue without an additional charge.  He also gave me a few tips on preventing problems.  He was extremely professional, knowledgeable, and very courteous. I used Bellows twice for two different warehouse heaters and there was a minor communication/diagnostic problem with the second one. Too long to write it all, but their technician was great and Jason the CEO took care of the minor problem personally and promptly. I will definitely use them again.
