Reviews
I'm a total slap dick when it comes to even basic home maintenance, so I quickly panicked when it appeared I'd blown the outlets in my kitchen through careless use.
Rather than charge me for a diagnostic visit, Rhonda set up a free FaceTime session with Geoff (on a Saturday no less), who spent half an hour guiding me through various potential fixes until we found one that got everything back online. Was it rocket science? No. But most places would have set up a $100+ appointment to come out and take a look. Instead, Rhonda and Geoff took time to help me solve the issue before making a costly visit. - and didn't even charge me for the time.
I'm grateful that Williams were willing to help out a rube, where others might have taken advantage. They earned my trust and I'll definitely go to them first when I need more serious electric work done. Highly recommend!

Very nice people but he's just too busy to handle small jobs. If you can wait for them, please wait.
Geoff did a great job of handling our core issues and investigating others that surfaced during our appointments. We are first-time homebuyers of a 1962 house, so it was nice to have someone thoughtful enough to give us strong recommendations on what to do for modernization.
Geoff is a huge dog fan, and the feeling was reciprocated by my main man Koda pictured below.

I know it's been 5 years since my initial review, but this actually pissed me off enough for me to patiently wait to make sure any information he gathered was null and void.
Upon leaving a negative review, he THREATENED ME with blackmail if I did not remove it. Our roommates at the time happened to leave their bong out, and he threatened to contact my husband's work to report supposed drug use?? He doesn't even smoke. Geoff went as far as to find my Facebook profile to obtain pictures as further blackmail. He put more effort into this than he did into providing an actual estimate.
But guess what I saved? That email, which I now can share with the rest of you so you can see what kind of person you're allowing into your home.
F**k you, Geoff.

While I am not a client of Williams Electric (details below), I am impressed with Geoff's willingness to communicate and reach a resolution.
Our brief interaction resulted in a miscommunication that stirred up all kinds of chaos. I actually posted a very negative review and Geoff reached out to me personally to explain. Long story short: my home is complicated and would require a host of folks, not just an electrician, to complete the work I want done. It was built around 1910 and is spilling over with original details and character. But with that comes challenges like plaster and knob & tube wiring. As a first time home buyer, I greatly appreciate detailed explanations, especially if my bill is going to be high.
Geoff's communication is clear and he demonstrates a deep care for his team. If you want a straight forward answer to your electrical needs, I'd give Williams Electric a call.

Geoff is honest and trustworthy. I had a problem with one circuit and couldn't figure out what was wrong. He did a FaceTime to do the preliminary troubleshooting steps. Then was kind and generous to guide me through my DYI project.
He saved me $200+ dollars and tried to set me up for success!

I'm really glad I decided to work with Geoff and Ronda at Williams Electric for my service panel upgrade. My old panel was too small for an anticipated solar upgrade and not up to code due to the proximity to our gas meter, lack of proper grounding, and a host of other problems. They scheduled a virtual walk-through (FaceTime) where I showed them my old panel and answered a few questions, and they were able to provide a competitive quote for the work needed.
Geoff did a fantastic job relocating the panel, properly grounding and securing it, and elegantly re-routing the conduit -- navigating the nearby chimney, trees, and internet service drop while avoiding any damage to our unique stained glass windows and antique brickwork nearby. It even looks better than it did before and is solid like a rock! In short, it was a hard job done properly.
Geoff was incredibly knowledgeable, polite, and patient with my questions throughout. Working with Ronda on scheduling was easy, communication was prompt, appointments were on time, and work was finished sooner than expected. Goeff was mindful to not leave us without power overnight or for too long a stretch, and avoided cutting power to our sump when there was rain. He and Ronda worked with PG&E and the City of Oakland to get our permit approved quickly, and waited patiently when the inspectors were late (and kind of rude too, but Geoff handled that professionally as well).
If I ever need more work done, I expect to call Williams Electric as a first stop. I actually already did, and Geoff was able to replace some old fluorescent fixtures with modern LED ones, install a ceiling fan in place of an old light, and upgrade some ungrounded outlets to GFCI (he had pointed a couple out as potential risks on the first visit) -- and tucked that all in quickly the same day as a planned visit. Thanks again Geoff and Ronda!
William is a genius!
This is the go to guy !
He was able to solve our problem in under 30 secs.
Had a problem and he was able to resolve it on the spot.
Thank you William for making our life better and taking the time of your day to help us.
Williams Electric WILL GIVE YOU the peace of mind.
God Bless You!

Geoff is just a good dude. We had a fried circuit out of nowhere and I called for an emergency appointment. Geoff wasn't available to come out so instead he did a FaceTime appointment with us to tell us what was needed for the job. Ronda helped coordinate the whole thing with multiple calls back and forth. I couldn't believe how helpful they both were when they honestly didn't need to be because they couldn't come out. They have my business for future jobs forever.
Edit: Geoff, your gaslighting response just goes to show the type of person you are. We both know how this actually went and your version is just complete fiction. Have a nice life.
Terrible experience with Williams Electric.
I moved to a new house and had several ungrounded 2-prong outlets that I wanted to upgrade to grounded 3-prong outlets as I wanted to put in some electronic equipment. I asked how much that would cost, they quoted a price, I booked the day.
The appointment goes fine enough - it took a couple calls to confirm the appointment and they charged more than other electricians had quoted, but hey, the reviews were great and I wanted to support a small local business.
Fast forward a few weeks and I have an amp blow out, so I start investigating. Figure it might be a faulty amp, or a bad power cord, who knows. Took the amp in for service and they asked if the outlets were grounded properly - I said yes, I just hired someone to do that. Turns out after buying some equipment to check the outlets myself that Geoff never actually grounded the outlets.
I emailed to explain what happened and offered up that I maybe my equipment was bad or maybe there was something I was missing but I wanted to just figure out what may have happened, and was told GFIs are legal - okay fair enough, not sure why we're talking about legality, I just want my gear to not break. So I asked again, sorry I'm not totally clear, the original order was for 3-prong grounded outlets, are these not grounded? And the response was GFIs don't have to be grounded to be legal.
Okay so we're clear now that that the outlets weren't grounded.
Maybe email isn't ideal, so I picked up the phone to call and spoke with Rhonda, who told me we installed GFIs because they're better and more sensitive, also you'd have to rip all your walls out to do install a ground wire - okay fair enough, but given I specifically asked for my outlets to be grounded when hiring you, seems like this could have been explained to me at some point. I would've ripped out the walls if that's what it would've taken to do this properly.
But most importantly, I just want to make sure I don't lose thousands of more dollars on gear, and they're telling me the GFI is better so I ask again to clarify, if the GFI isn't the problem perhaps it's something else. That would be good to know so I can keep investigating the true cause. The response ultimately was you probably need to run an actual ground wire.
I asked how much it'll cost for him to come back to do that, and the response was a brusque too busy and don't want this on me, nothing I did was illegal, you can contact your insurance.
Well, up until then I was chalking this up to a lack of communication and was trying to work out a solution. But that response is rude, unprofessional, and unacceptable. You didn't do the job you were hired to do originally, and even though that's incredibly frustrating on my end, I came at you politely and you decided to respond by worrying about blame and running away.
No one accused you of installing anything illegal - as you repeatedly made sure to make clear - I was even offering to PAY YOU AGAIN to come back to do the job as originally discussed! You've pointed out that what you did is up to code - I didn't hire you to do whatever you want to bring it up to code - I specifically asked about getting my outlets grounded. Remarkably unhelpful that you've spent this entire time just trying to make it clear it's not your fault and that you don't want any blame - no one blamed you for anything! - we could've just easily called this a miscommunication and you could've come back for a second job. But instead you decided to be a jerk about it.
I guess I'll hire someone else to come clean up this up. You might be a talented electrician but you clearly don't know how to treat people with decency.
To anyone reading: they're great if you want to pay above market to get treated like dirt. So I guess if you're looking for that, hire Williams Electric!
Geoff responded immediately and came over and was able to solve our problem quickly at a fair price. He and the woman I spoke to on the phone were both friendly and knowledgeable. Thank you Geoff
Called Williams Electric to do some work for me: repairing some broken porch outlets, installing a new dedicated circuit for a new garage refrigerator.
They got back to me faster than any other company I reached out to.
Geoff came out and did the work with no problems, everything seemed to be working well.
Fast forward a few weeks and I got my new fridge delivered and it kept tripping the new outlet off.
I called Williams Electric back and did a FaceTime with Geoff who attempted to troubleshoot it with me over video. It seemed like the outlet was the problem so he came out the next day to attempt to fix it for free. All in all it turned out that the fridge was putting off electricity through the grounding wire and it wasn't the outlet at all, but Geoff figured out the problem and didn't charge me for the second visit. Thank you Williams Electric!
Mr. Williams came by on the SAME day that I called for service. He was able to quickly diagnose the problem and fix it. As a result, I no longer am without heat, refrigeration, and many plugs. Also offered safety advice that should be followed regarding space heaters. His entire operation was well staffed, friendly and efficient. I would definitely use again, and do not hesitate to recommend Williams Electric to you!
Called on a monday morning and spoke with Geoff William's lovely wife who troubleshooted over phone with me. Geoff came out at noon same day. Several garage outlets were not working and circuit breaker was shot. He replaced circuit breaker and everything worked again HOWEVER, he did not stop there. Wanted to find out the CAUSE of why the circuit breaker went bad. Checked around the garage and even the yard. Found an outlet in the backyard (covered by dirt and woodchips) that had caught fire (due to improper installation 25 years ago) and it still was 'live' . Super lucky this didn't create a massive hillside fire or one of my kids didn't stumble upon it and touch it. He replaced it with proper outdoor housing.
Geoff is super smart, came prepared with every part and tool imaginable, didn't give up and do the easy thing (knowing it would only last temporarily). Thank you so much!!!!!! Please check your landscaping outlets and make sure they were installed properly! Will definitely use this company again!

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!
I will never use William Electric again: the customer service and treatment I received from the electrician who did the work was completely and totally unacceptable and disrespectful. In addition, the person was quite rude. Also, the electrician was not COVID safe: he did not wear a mask during the service call. Given the myriad of bad reviews this company has received, if you decide to engage with them, customer BEWARE!

Geoff and Ronda are awesome. Professional, fast, got us approved by City of Oakland and PGE and back up and running faster than expected. 5 Stars.
A garbage truck took out all of our utility lines on a Monday afternoon. Called a bunch of electricians and Williams was first to call back. Geoff was able to assess the damage via FaceTime call and get us a written estimate that evening - before anyone else had even called back. Replaced our main panel and roof-top weather head with a taller & more stable one. Got us through city and PGE inspection no problem, and made sure we were hooked back up to electricity as fast as possible.
Geoff's original estimate was also less than half of the other estimates we got. We opted for a new panel instead of repair, but even with that, Williams came in several thousand dollars less than the other estimates. Now we're having Geoff back to install a second weather head for other utility lines.
I called about an outlet that was out in our garage despite trying to reset the circuit breaker. All the other electricians I called were a minimum $325 to come out. Williams Electric called me and went through a step by step of easy things to do to fix it prior to coming out (for free) and one of those things did the trick. I called back up to offer to pay something and she turned it down. I'll certainly be using Williams Electric for anything that may come up in the future!

Rhonda scheduled an appointment and took down all the details very nice lady
The technician arrived and Was very rude he said he had never seen a blinking light like that before and and I probably could not afford his rRates anyway he did not look like he was exactly wearing Armani
Ended up hiring another electrician $475 per hour difference like night and day he fixed the fuse box for $475.00 a good deal I thought
I would never talk to someone like you do I don't know who you think you are!
I was freaking out, cause we lost power to our freestanding garage and without power we could not get in there. Geoff solved our problem over the phone in 5 minutes and all free of charge. Something simple as resetting the breakers but we have a bunch and they were mislabeled.
What a great and responsive guy and he is who I'm going to call with all my electrical needs and problems
I wanted to give Williams Electric 10 stars. I called and asked whether there is any electricians available today to trouble shoot our 220v outlet since our new electric kitchen range is not working. The person answering the phone is super patient with me asking what the issue is. She is very knowledgeable and thought the problem might be on the control panel. She offered me to Facetime with the technician to do some initial diagnostic. The technician called me immediately and helped me solved the issue in 10 seconds by looking at the control panel. Williams Electric is willing to help customers solving problems without cost before sending technicians to our places. I would strongly recommend this company to everyone!

Geoff has done a few project for us. He brought our under-the-kitchen-sink electric plugs up to code so we could have one of those water heater tanks and the dishwasher too. The prior set up we had failed. He was always professional and made sure the job was done right. He also helped to install an electric plug for a Toto bidet toilet seat. In that project he was the only one of several electricians who offered a solution of cutting a whole In the wall from the opposite room so we could put the plug in the right place. The bathroom did not have a plug avail or an otherwise easy way to wire in a new plug. Other electricians mentioned the idea but were unwilling to go the extra mile and make it work. Geoff did! The other electricians proposed solutions which required exposed extension cords, not ideal. Geoff is a great problem solver. He is honest, knowledgeable, and does excellent work!
Also, he was willing to come out for an estimation related to a whole house backup. His advice was great and really appreciate his expertise.

Geoff spent 20 minutes on the FaceTime with me, troubleshooting a in-expertly reset circuit breaker. From my initial call to fully up and running took less than 1 hour. Geoff Williams will be our go-to electrician from now on.
Did an electrical upgrade for us. The bid was done by facetime--prompt and thorough. It said what they'd include and what they wouldn't. Josh came when he said, worked efficiently and neatly. He prepared me for the City inspector and offered to answer questions if any came up. The City inspector passed us with flying colors. I'll use Williams Electric again. They are experienced, honest, fast and easy to communicate with (by phone, text and email). Really a great experience.

I broke my one of my electrical panel switches today while turning off my electricity to replace a switch (lesson learned, never doing that again!) and couldn't get electricity back into my house. It was Friday and I was panicking. I picked Williams Electric because Yelp told me their response time was 10 minutes. Geoff was able to come to my place within 3 hours and fixed everything in 15 minutes including my initial project (the switch) which I was afraid to touch after messing up.
I saw the other reviews and think some people were way too harsh. Geoff does look rough around the edges but he seems like he's worked very hard all his life and have been through some things. To me, he has endearing qualities. He was all around professional. From the other reviews and his bio, he clearly knows his stuff. As for my experience, he got straight to work and fixed the problem without wasting my time -- this is exactly what I want when I am hiring someone for a service. Highly recommend and will also be having Geoff back to help me with another project!

We purchased a 1960 home with a hodgepodge of original and updated wiring. We had 2 pre-purchase home inspections, both of which found different issues with the electric. I reached out to Geoff and Ronda who helped with scheduling and Geoff did his own comprehensive inspection of the house. I like that he had an eye to safety and a comprehensive solution. They offered a comprehensive, itemized bid and did not pressure us to do all the work. Geoff was able to talk us through the pros and cons of doing different projects.
We ended up deciding to do a comprehensive grounding, adding arc faults, all new switches and fixtures, and a new subpanel. He also changed the dryer outlet which was unsafe (neither inspection found this). Ronda got us on Geoff's calendar right away and he completed the work quickly. He checked in frequently throughout the project and kept us informed about any issues. By and large the work Geoff needed to do lined up exactly with his estimate. He was able to install new plugs in the kitchen without messing with the drywall which was great because other bids included tearing that all out and repairing.
Geoff cleaned up the big stuff and did a sweep of the house, and we followed up with more cleaning and vacuuming to get the dust and leftover screws.
We are still waiting to do the inspection because of Covid closing down city offices.
I would definitely recommend Geoff and Ronda and will call them if we need more work done.
I had a minor electrical issue ( Didn't realize that it was minor at the time, though!) and called for an appointment based on their great reviews and high rating. I spoke to their answering service who took an extensive message. I called back on Monday and was told that someone would call me back but they NEVER did!!! A complete waste of time! Luckily, I found Walt's Electric who came out in less than 3 hours and solved my problem!! Maybe my zip code didn't fit their clientele list!!!
Wow, Geoff just left my house and did an awesome job! I had a circuit breaker tripping in my 3,000 SF house in the Oakland Hills and just googled Oakland Electricians open Saturday and Williams Electric bubbled up as the highest rated company so they were my first call. Ronda (I see is Geoff's wife) answered and said Geoff is booked today but tell me your problem and let's see what we can do. Ronda understands this work and asked me a few troubleshooting questions to help me for free and potentially completely avoid Geoff even coming over. The last thing they were doing was trying to sell me on anything.
I read some of these bad reviews below and I cannot imagine this guy Geoff warrants any of this and probably think this is really hurting his business.
He knows his craft inside and out - that's a fact.
So Geoff called me and said what we would be doing, how much it would cost and the steps to figure out root cause - AND HE WANTED TO MAKE SURE I WAS OK WITH ALL OF THIS BEFORE HE CAME OVER EVEN THOUGH HE WAS GOING OUT OF HIS WAY TO FIT ME IN!
I said sure and thanks for fitting me in. Geoff comes over and the quote is $250 to troubleshoot, replace the breaker, find root cause, and put everything back together. Sounded fair. Geoff replaced the breaker and it still tripped and we one by one put the lights back on that were on that breaker. Within 10 minutes we found the culprit - the outside lights.
We looked at the one below the porch and it was leaking water. Geoff didn't have to do this but he pulled the light down and the wires were shorting and burnt and about a cup of water came out of the light. Geoff seriously saved me from having a potentially really BAD problem.
He also went up inside the light and clipped the wires and capped them so we for sure were not going to have more problems.
Now I have a serious water leak that I have to get fixed but that's not Geoff's issue.
Geoff felt so bad for my water leak issue knowing this is going to cost me money that he only charged me $189 for something that should have been more like $350.
Check out my reviews. I write mostly good ones and don't trash people for fun or if they are my competition.
it sounds like Geoff is not getting a fair shake on some of these reviews because he knows what he is doing and did a great job. If a reviewer has 60 other 1 star reviews they should look in the mirror.
The poor guy is almost paranoid and so careful about taking new business and that's not right or fair.
I had no idea who he was before this morning but felt compelled to write this.

I haven't used Williams Electric; Geoff happened to be working on my next-door neighbor's house soon after another electrician replaced my main electrical panel (which the city hasn't signed off on, for reasons unrelated to the work itself). Geoff pointed out various problems with the work, for example certain kinds of connectors that aren't allowed, and--most alarming--that aluminum wire had been used in one place--technically allowed if it's done correctly, but why skimp on something like that, when copper is demonstrably safer and I would have been happy to pay whatever extra it might have cost?? I really appreciated the time Geoff took to take a look and explain what he was seeing, since I know zero about what a main panel should look like. Unfortunately I'm stuck with the electrician who started the work since we're in mid-permit, but next time I have electrical work to do, I'll be calling Geoff with confidence that he won't cut corners.
Geoff and Ronda saved me from what would have been an extremely stressful day and I am very grateful. I had an emergency situation when the contractor's tool flipped the circuit breaker and we were unable to reset it properly to continue the work. Although I am sure it's a trivial matter for Geoff's expertise level, Ronda kindly got a hold of Geoff quickly and he got on the facetime with me and resolved the issue just within minutes. I really appreciate their professionalism and quick response. Thank you!
I initially had to call a couple times before Rhonda got back in touch with me. But after all it is two days before Christmas. She asked if I was calling on an iPhone. I told her yes. She had someone I think it may have been Geoff who returned the call. I wasn't expecting a FaceTime call. Geoff wanted me to go outside and show him the work area via FaceTime. I'm not FaceTime savvy and couldn't figure out how to flip the screen for him to see the area which is a flower bed next to a fence. Then my phone cut off because my battery was low. I immediately went inside put it on charge and called Geoff right back. I asked if I could send him pictures that I had on my phone of wiring issue. He reluctantly said yes you can try. I sent the pictures via text. He immediately texted back Don't want to tackle a job but thanks for considering us to be with larger jobs at this point and don't want to work in a muddy dangerous trench.
I texted back Thank you. Thank you for nothing and it's a 6 inch flower bed not a dangerous trench.
Apparently the fact that I'm not FaceTime savvy and the job wasn't large enough frustrated Geoff. Or maybe I should just call him The Grinch. After all it is Christmas time. Good Will to All. You too Willams Electric
This is in response to Geoff reply to my bad yelp review for his company. You deserve a bad review. Your response was rude how do you come out rather than trying to FaceTime me or send someone out rather than FaceTime in you would have seen that it is eight maybe 6 inch white flower bed next to a fence not a trench. And the simple fact that you would state that you had much larger jobs to do maybe it was the color of my skin when you saw me on FaceTime or maybe it was my ZIP Code. You're supposed to be the professional and know what to do. I've had another electric company come out prior to talking with you. He wasn't afraid to touch the pipe. I wanted two quotes and also in hopes that maybe your company could come out sooner to do the job. Unfortunately it wasn't a large enough job for you and apparently even though you're a professional it's called TURN THE ELECTRICITY OFF. I may not know how to use FaceTime but I know that much GEOFF
I am not super handy and my tenant called with an electrical situation so I sent out some yelp messages. I got a very quick response from Geoff and based on what I described, he actually gave me a suggestion on what I could do to fix it and it worked! He saved me the money of having to have someone come out on what would have been a simple fix. I appreciate it!
Very disappointed in my most recent experience with Williams Electric. We had hired them on 2 previous occasions, both of which were very positive on all fronts. More recently, we needed help with one of our breakers. I called Rhonda twice to discuss our issue and set up a service call. Both times I simply never heard from her again. That , in spite of her promise that we were on their calendar and that she would get back to me with scheduling details.
I ended up having to find someone else. Simply not how you should treat customers, especially repeat customers. We won't be using Geoff again.
Sometimes when you try to fix things yourself it goes well. When it doesn't and you are stumped, call Geoff! Such quick response on Facetime. Walkthrough saves everyone time and I benefited so much from a 5 minute conversation. Do business with confidence.
Sunday cleaning day. I stupidly plugged my old paper shredder directly into the wall socket, as opposed to a surge protector. ZAP. Blew the fuse. Went to the circuit box to reset the switches, but that didn't work. With online school and work, not having Internet is devastating. Williams Electric responded with lightning speed, and helped me troubleshoot via FaceTime. Problem fixed! Amazing. Thank you Williams Electric!

It's so hard to find a reliable electrician - but Geoff is one of them! When I called and explained my small problem (I may have (definitely did) washed an outside wall and got water into a GFCI outlet which then blew the outlet. I made matters worse by attempting to replace it myself) Ronda immediately tried to get me onto the schedule. I wasn't able to do the next day as she had proposed so she worked with me to get a time for the following weekend. Geoff called before our appt and said he could be early! In no time Geoff had me all taken care of and we again had power outside.
I wish that I had known about Williams Electric a few years ago when I had replaced and upgraded my panel. So many other electricians that I had talked to about this told me that my problem was just too small for them to bother with.
My home remodel bucket list has a complete re-wire of my house in a few years and I'll be sure to use Geoff for it. He is a master of his trade and is very easy to work with.
Geoff is a lifesaver and our electrician.
We had gone through two previous electricians using our home warranty provider to fix a daily struggle of keeping the power on in our house. After 30 days of no progress, we called Williams Electric, and they showed up the same day. Geoff diagnose the problem and gave us a temporary fix. He explained to me the situation and provided and options. He fixed our problem the same week. In less than four days Geoff showed up and resolved our problem. He even called to make sure things were going okay. Geoff is professional, knowledgeable, shows up on time, and he cares about his customers and work.
We had an electrical problem Saturday night so I called several electricians Sunday morning, when most are unavailable. This was urgent because a disabled family member needs critical medications stored below 40 degrees and the refrigerator had switched off, along with several ceiling lights. Geoff Williams responded quickly and offered to do a FaceTime consultation to diagnose the problem. He then guided me through the process of resetting several circuit breaker switches to determine if any were malfunctioning. The lights came on, the fridge returned to life, and the smoke detector alarms stopped beeping. I was very grateful for his competence and kindness!
A shout out to Williams Electric! After a space heater shorted out one of my circuits I was unable to turn the circuit back on after (I thought) I had flipped the switch to off. Disaster, there goes the home office . . . I found Williams on Yelp and called. They walked me through the problem over the phone and explained that with the kind of breaker I have I had to push the switch much harder than any reasonable mortal would expect to get it fully off before I could reset it to on. Problem fixed, no visit or charge, and I will definitely be calling the nice folks at Williams for my next electrical problem. Thanks guys!

Geoff and Marsha were so easy to work with. They listen sooo well. They follow through on everything . Geoff brought the best treats our dog Fiona ever tasted.
The work Geoff did was perfect and done in such a timely way with good humor and kindness and neatness and solid expertise. They are the best!!
Took Geoff about 10 seconds to solve the problem via FaceTime. He's clearly got a very sharp electrician's eye and deep knowledge of home electrical systems and code. Ronda took the first call and was incredibly patient and helpful, Geoff got back to me the next morning. Will go to Geoff first next time something comes up!

I needed same day help. Geoff responded immediately to my request for a quote. Though he was busy and couldn't come same day, he was able to diagnose the issue over zoom, so that I could more easily describe the problem to another electrician. If any problems come up in the future I'll be sure to reach out to Geoff!

Sunday night (last night) at 6:00 PM we discovered two rooms had no power. After checking the breakers I found Williams electric on Yelp. Geoff called me back in 5 minutes after I reached out via Yelp. He talked us thru the issue (the breaker was flipped but not showing it). Easy fix for him. Huge help to us. He could have charged me $179 and didn't. Just a good guy. Of course we will hire him on our next project.
It's always a panic when you run into an electrical problem. Rinds was great to schedule with and Geoff came out to help us with our issue...not a big issue in the general sense but a big issue when it impacts family. Geoff came out quick, was efficient, suggested some other solutions, and we will hire him again! Thanks Geoff & Ronda!
Geoff is very responsive and knowledgeable. I appreciate that he uses FaceTime for the initial assessment and potentially to solve the issue. This saves us both time and effort. He arrives promptly, and efficiently gets the job done. He has installed a circuit for our hot tub and also diagnosed and repaired a faulty circuit breaker. I'll call him any time I need electrical work!

UPDATE: Minutes after posting, the owner Geoff Williams called my cell and personally threatened me. He said, I'm going down to the Hayward courthouse now and will sue you for $500,000. I notified Yelp of the violation of their rules but looks like he does this all the time. Check out the other negative reviews. Am hoping Yelp will take notice and stop him.
Disappointing, unprofessional attitude from the owner. Scheduling was a hassle and they didn't call me when they said they would. I still went ahead with an appointment after quickly finding them on Yelp.
The owner Geoff Williams shows up hair disheveled, bloodshot eyes, like he rolled out of bed onto my porch. He doesn't say hello, identify himself, or give me a card. (Got his name by calling the office after). I open the door and he gives me a dirty look. So I say Good Morning. No response. I say, Well, how can I help you? He says ONE word, Electrician. He's literally so lazy he can't put it in a sentence. Maybe he had a really rough night or bad morning, but seems like he doesn't want this job.
If this is his attitude BEFORE he gets the job, I'm thinking the estimate is going to be crazy high. I tell him I need a panel upgrade, but before I'm going to let him into my home, want him to have a positive attitude. He turns around and walks away! I need someone who can get the job done and show me respect as a client. I certainly don't want the negative energy of a dirty old man in my home. Give your business to someone who works hard to earn business, not this arrogant guy.
Geoff called me back promptly based on my email (within an hour) after another contractor had created a problem with our electrical. He was able to quickly find the problem, and advise on how I should handle the situation with the contractor. He really provided great advice and saved me a lot of time and money in the process. I hope I don't have larger electrical needs, but if I do, I will have confidence to call on Williams Electric.

They solved my problem in less than 3 minutes on the phone. My circuit got switched off and they walked me through resetting it so I didn't have to deal with my landlord, which was very kind. For that, if I need to hire an electrician, I'll be hiring them. Thanks!!

We shorted out an electrical outlet which cut power to half the house. We noticed Williams had high ratings on Yelp and gave them a call. Rhonda did a great job assessing our situation on the phone and providing a cost estimate. Geoff adjusted his schedule to fit us in the next day, even though his truck was in the shop. Geoff is a man of few words, but works quickly and gets the job done. The pricing was very competitive with other bids and we now are enjoying electricity to the entire house again.
(Disclaimer: I don't use Yelp much hence this very late update) I was surprised to discover a biz response to my original review; my surprise twofold because:
1) I was threatened with litigation regarding my original review because I posted about my poor experience with Geoff, which quickly resulted in me having to flag this proprietor with Yelp because of litigious private messages, and
2) because Williams Electric's response to the below review in no way represents what occurred. My review centers around the attempt to get an appointment and the issues in attempting to schedule one - Geoff never got my address so the claims below are false, and furthermore, the building in which I reside is not off of a busy thoroughfare not does it have a gated entry.
I blew out my wall outlet using a space heater in my son's room. Less than 24 hours later it was fixed thanks to the speedy and competent work of Williams electric. They responded to the automated yelp message I sent quickly, were easy to set up the appointment over the phone, reasonable pricing, he was on time and professional, did great work. Nothing to complain about, I wish working with skilled workers was always this easy.

Excellent prompt service! Great ideas and clearly experienced and knowledgeable. Highly recommend!
We recently purchased a home that required considerable electrical work due to many outlets not working. Geoff came in and diagnosed the problem immediately, restored power to the outlets, and all without requiring drywall repair! We loved his work so much that we invited him back to also install our Tesla charger. 5 stars for Geoff's considerable know-how from all of his experience!
Geoff responded to a call for help with a fiber installation that AT&T tried and failed to deliver. He quickly pinpointed the issue and instructed me on the path to resolution. But he wouldn't accept compensation. When a third party came for the next step, Geoff was kind enough to get on the phone with him (after having to wait); but he turned down payment again. I just want to express my appreciation his generosity and helpfulness.
I wish there were more than 5 stars for Geoff
Over the past 3 years, I have hired Geoff for 6 jobs, so of which were large and complex.
I am not an electrician, but I respect good work. His commitment to quality AND safety is unsurpassed.
His work has not failed my business. He won't fail yours.
PS: He likes good dark chocolate
Williams electric is hands-down the best electrical contractor in the Bay area. I needed 2 Main panel service upgrades on my duplex and Geoff did an amazing job! I couldn't be happier with the work he did! Working with Geoff and Ronda is extremely painless and stress-free. The job was done in a quick & timely manner and passed all inspections with flying colors.
I will definitely be using their services again and will be recommending them to everyone I know in need of electrical service.
We moved house and needed everyone - plumbers, electricians, builders, the list goes on.
Geoff is, without a doubt, the best contractor I dealt with in this time. He was responsive, honest, dedicated and efficient. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone and am looking forward to working with him on future projects.
Above all, when you pick an electrician, pick someone who will be there when you need him. We had an electrical problem unrelated to Geoff's work and he arrived two hours later to fix it. That's the definition of having someone on your team and it's a very awesome feeling.

Geoff is dependable and stands by his work. He gave me an itemized quote to replace 2 fire prone panels, walked me through the permit process, and came out the day he said he would to do the work on time. I'm a stickler for quality work and he was super friendly and communicative about every detail I had questions about. Everything looks great and the job was completed on time. Every connector, wire, breaker, and piece of conduit was high quality. I'm confident no corners were cut and I will not have issues with the install in the future. Geoff and Ronda were also super nice to my dog. He brought her treats on his second visit!
I will certainly call Geoff again for any future electrical work without hesitation. And believe me I can't say that for the majority of people I've had work on my house. Excellent service at a reasonable price without any hassle. It's hard to come by.

I have an outdated electrical system in old home that desperately needed to be permit-approved and updated during the 4th of July. The city had actually shut of my power until some necessary upgrades were implemented. Terrible timing, but Geoff came through and had the power up and running within a few hours despite the holiday. Just to get by I had to use a generator that was very loud and inconvenient for the neighborhood. Williams Electric made sure that the generator no longer needed to be running within a few hours and before the inspector was able to drop in. When available, the city inspector dropped by, spoke with Geoff, then happily signed off. It was evident that the inspector was fully confident in Geoff's work, and let him wrap up without any further inspection. I couldn't be any happier!
If you are in a pinch, you can definitely count of Williams Electric to set you straight, they work miracles.

Have lived in our house for 10+ years with no electrical issues. Messaged Williams and a number of other well-reviewed electrical contractors through Yelp when the power to the house lights and other equipment started to dim/drop when running higher power appliances.
Most said they would come and take a look for a standard call out fee, some asked me to call so they could quote on the phone.
Williams Electric advised me to check with PGE first - and it was indeed a PGE issue.
So glad we did not have anyone charge us a fortune for coming out and telling us the same thing, or worse coming out and doing work that was not needed.
Thank you Williams Electric for the speedy response and great advice!
I called to set up an appointment for what I thought was going to be an hour or so job of installing an energy monitor for my home. Geoff not only arrives on time, but decides to get the job done in about half the time, with no lack of quality or professionalism.
This is the second time I've had Geoff come to our home for electrical work, and both times I'm happy to give him a stellar review.
Until next time...
Very happy with Williams Electric! Great people to work with, fun to talk to, and helped us figure out exactly what we needed. We are very pleased with their work replacing our electrical panel, and highly recommend. Extra bonus, super nice to our pups!
Geoff and Rhonda are true professionals. Rhonda is a pleasure to work with and Geoff knows is stuff in and out.
They installed wiring for some of our machinery and came on the weekend, so we didn't have to shut down production.
When other electricians were giving me quotes of weeks, they were able to come within a few days.
I highly recommend them.
We went with Geoff and Rhonda because we had a knob and tube system in our house and not many electricians nowadays have experience with k&t. Geoff upgraded our service to 200 amps, upgraded all the panels and subpanels, and put grounded outlets where there wasn't before. Geoff is super knowledgeable and experienced and just what we needed for this project.

I need to get my whole house rewired. Geoff came out several months ago and gave me a quote to do the work. I had some follow up questions but you can't reach Geoff directly, their phone number goes to Rhonda. So I emailed him instead and received replies that were short, rude, and unprofessional.
In the meantime we underwent a very expensive complete foundation replacement and the foundation contractor also had a sub replace the electrical main for us. The foundation is done and now we're replacing our siding so the exterior walls are open and it's finally time to start rewiring.
Even though I had a bad experience with Geoff's emails, I still wanted to see if he would rewire the exterior walls while they're open from the outside. I called their office on Thursday and explained to Rhonda that the scope of work is a little different from when Geoff originally quoted the project because we no longer need a new main but everything else still needs to be rewired. Rhonda said she'd have Geoff call me. By the following Tuesday I heard nothing so I called again and Rhonda scheduled Geoff to come back to the house the next day.
That evening I get an email from Geoff: Wait, Ronda said you had someone else do the pge main change?
And I said, Correct. Is that a problem?
Geoff replied: When people cherry pick our jobs, and dole out to lower cost guys, they usually cannot afford us in the first place. Imo a further bid/meeting is a waste of our time/gas/etc.
So it's official. Geoff is rude and unprofessional. Definitely avoid this guy.
An hour after leaving this review, I got a call and a voicemail from a blocked number. It's Geoff! He says, and I quote:
It's libelous calling me rude and unprofessional. And telling people to avoid me is malicious. And I'm sure your job has people on it that aren't following OSHA and city rules or PG&E rules. So if it [this review] isn't removed today, I'm going to make complaints with those certifying bodies on your job site. I'm also going to go down to the city and file a small claims against you for libeling me. So remove the review or I am going to then go down and do what I said I'm going to do and I will keep my word.
So just know that if you have a bad experience with Geoff and then write an honest and fact based review you should expect similar threats.

Thanks to Williams electric I have a completely safe and new system of wires and circuits and breaker panels. I had a burnt wire in my wall that put me at risk for electrical Fire and had no idea until my power shut down. Luckily Williams Electric Came to the rescue in a timely manner and helped me out. Ever since I have used them for various other electrical problems in my 1930s Montclair home.
He is honest and reliable and the price is fair for the service. Thanks for making me feel safe in my family home !
After reading some good reviews, I thought I'd send Geoff a message and request an estimate via Yelp for some minor electrical work at my house (replacing outlets, removing old phone wiring, etc.).
All I got back was a very short reply of Too busy. Apologies.
If you're busy, that's fine...but I was asking for an estimate.
Geoff, here's some constructive feedback for you:
The next time someone contacts you for an estimate, at least TRY to give the impression that you want their business.
You could've easily given me a rough estimate and then say you were booked for now. You could've also followed up by asking me how soon I needed the work done...maybe even say you'd like to try to work something out or even refer me to a colleague...something other than your short, dismissive reply. Granted, a referral might be a bit much but it's not unheard of. In fact, PJ Erwin, one of your Oakland competitors was nice enough to give me a referral even though he was booked.
My point is that you need to work on your customer service skills because you've definitely lost a potential customer. However, it's obvious you don't care judging from your reply to me.
On time, did everything spot on, past PG&E inspections for a new main panel and kept our dog entertained and happy. I'd recommend Geoff to anyone
Geoff is very professional and knowledgeable! I enjoyed working with him on my house. He was able to come out quickly and get the work done in a timely fashion. I would recommend him to anyone.
Thanks again Geoff!!
Williams Electric was great! We called with the presenting issue of a number of outlets going out in the kitchen. They quickly schedule a service appointment, but the very gracious Rhonda talked me through a few steps that allowed me to fix it minutes before the appointment was scheduled for. I called Rhonda back, and asked if they could still come out to do an estimate for some additional outdoor outlets. Geoff came out, and quickly gave me an estimate that was thoughtful, and suggested a cost saving solution of having someone else handle some of the work. Five out of five stars for the support, *and* nice people! Geoff was super friendly to my large dog as well.
Editing my review after receiving this email from Geoff: What a nasty person you were to deal with. So I will enjoy suing you at this point if the review is not removed now within ten minutes.
Geoff, our difference of experience about how today happened is clear. So I'll remove all the details about what happened for me, and I'll leave my 1-Star review as that reflects the service I received. This should take care of any concerns you had about libel, while maintaining the integrity of the purpose of Yelp, to share honest feedback about our experiences with vendors.
YELPERS! This is a warning that this guy Geoff is threatening and a bully. I've both reported him and blocked him by phone, email, and Yelp after he sent me 6 emails threatening to sue me if I don't take down this review. I learned from him that there's some serious safety concerns with the electric in my home, and I totally understand that Geoff isn't willing to work in these conditions. I appreciate the opportunity I had to learn about these hazards, and I regret that no solutions were offered for how to remedy the work that needs to be completed.
Every other company asked to quote the work took the time to come out, look at the property, explain their quotes to me and were very friendly and helpful. This guy from Williams met me on Face Time, didn't say hello when I answered but just stared at me and said show me your electric panel which I did. Then he had me climb up and down the hillside showing him the property. All he told me was what he couldn't do and what was a problem for him. Then he listed all the steps of the process that were very difficult and said it will be very expensive. I asked what that meant and he said, without looking at anything or pondering the question $20k. That's 30% higher than the other two bids I received. He obviously didn't want the work and wasted my time. I thanked him, which was more than he did for me, and hung up. I don't know how people like this stay in business. I guess he figured, since I was female, I wouldn't understand what he was saying and wouldn't be able to make the decision (or have enough money) without a man. I wouldn't recommend these people for any work.
Geoff came on a saturday. Lets start there.
There was no hesitation on what needed to be done, and knew exactly how to do it.
Totally reasonable pricing, fast and competent.
Will be calling again.
- Answered the phone when I called!
- Squeezed me in within a few days
- On time, professional, had everything he needed with him, worked quickly but cleanly
- Friendly, patient with me (and my barking dog), answered my questions amiably
- Local business, lives locally, felt fully comfortable with him
- No reservations! Highly recommend

Williams Electric did a fabulous job! We had a panel change, panel repair, installation of arc fault circuit breaker and replacement of plugs done by Geoff. Not only did he complete all within the agreed time frame - you should also know that he is an *incredibly* kind person who clearly cares about his job in making houses safe.
Prior to working with Geoff we shopped around - among the other three estimates we received, Geoff provided the most transparent and detailed breakdown of tasks (other electricians - ahem I am looking at you!! - often did not even care to itemize), and was also the most competitive in terms of cost (other electricians provided shamelessly intransparent bids that would have blown our budget). Even better, as we worked on the project, the costs came down as he budgeted more conservatively, so in the end we got our work done for substantially less than we initially expected!
Now, dear reader, you will wonder why some of the Yelp reviews are so negative. I can tell you why: most people who were angry ***never actually ended up working with him*** but were just frustrated haters. Geoff may be sometimes hard to get hold of as he's working very hard, but you will be lucky to have him as an electrician - in the end, it's not just you choosing him, but it's also him deciding to work for you. And he surely is a great and honest person who likes to work for good and honest people and families. Thanks Geoff and Rhonda!
Geoff came through for us when my other electrician bailed on a job. Geoff installed both 70a 220v and 2x 30a 220v from the ceiling where the other guy said he couldn't figure out how to do the job.
Work was great! We are now running our new equipment and everything is fantastic!

This morning my microwave made a popping sound that made me very nervous. I called and was able to make phone contact with Rhonda right away. I explained my concerns, and she said she would check the schedule and get back to me. She did, within 20 minutes, and Geoff was able to come check things out in short order. Wiring is fine, I do need a new microwave. I was so happy to have this checked out so quickly, and not have to worry about wiring with everything else going on in our world these days. I so appreciate both Rhonda's and Geoff's efficient and very kind responses to calls for help! Thank you so much!
We're new homeowners in Oakland and didn't have previous experience working with any electricians. Our house is old, and we knew we needed a new main panel and subpanel. We talked to a few electricians, and decided on Williams Electric because Geoff's bid was clear and thorough, he didn't charge us for the bid itself, and he said he was able to fit in the work right away.
Geoff is very knowledgeable, particularly about what work was required to make our house safer. He also gave us advice on future needs (charging for electric cars, etc), as well as on some additional safety precautions we could take. We understood and felt very comfortable with his advice.
Geoff did a great job of replacing the panels and taking care of everything. As he worked, he discovered small things along the way that he had to fix, but he didn't charge us for the additional work. He also loved our two cats. :) His wife, Rhonda, is extremely nice and organized and helped keep us informed about the timing of the work and inspections. We will definitely use Williams Electric for any future electrical work!
As newly arrived renters in Piedmont we called Williams Electric to see if they would schedule a service call simply to assess whether our electrical panel would support a portable air conditioner. Although I made clear that I may not be able to hire them to do any actual work, Geoff Williams fit me into his schedule within a couple of days and declined payment for his visit - even though he knew we would not be undertaking any work. I found Geoff to be professional, courteous and honest in giving us the total picture of what would be needed to do the job.
I look forward to the time when I own my own home and can call on Williams Electric.
We had Geoff replace our sub panel, install new breakers up to code, and rewire a rats nest of old DIY work in our basement. He also redid the grounding system. He got the job done in just 2 visits to our house and his price was more than fair and he ended up doing some additional work at no extra charge. I would recommend him for any electrical work at your home or business. He has a great personality and I trust his work.
Had a problem where half the outlets and light fixtures were out randomly in the house, while the rest of the house was fine. Our home warranty company flaked on us, unable to find an electrician and told us to find one on our own. Spoke to Rhonda at Williams and explained the problem. She recommended I call PGE to look at the problem first cuz it sounded like a utility company problem, and not something within the house. I called and PG&E arrived within 20 minutes and had the problem solved 20 minutes later. Who knew that there are multiple strands of wire coming into the house from the utility pole, and that one could be loose or corroded while the others are fine? I greatly appreciate Rhonda's honest assessment and recommendation. We'll call Williams for sure next time we have an electrical problem within the house.
Geoff and Williams Electric was able to come to my house at a moment's notice. He was the only electrician that was able to actually fix the problem, saving me money and time and most importantly, getting the lights back on. Geoff is prompt and thorough. I highly recommend him for any job, but especially for jobs involving old panels and wiring. He did the following work for me - electrical trouble shooting, panel repair and fuse panel repair at a great price!
Geoff has been extremely helpful in guiding me through the power upgrading process in Oakland. I look forward to being able to hire his services to build out my 3 phase power upgrade for a recently purchased property.
Geoff reported me to the fire marshall. They just left. They found nothing to be wrong with my house except for the sub-standard work done by Geoff Williams. The fire marshall apologized profusely for disturbing me. The fire marshall said he'd take it from here, His reporting of you is obviously flagrantly false and revenge motivated! There's nothing wrong with your house, except for his work. Sorry to have disturbed you. We will take it from here. We've had experience with him before. He's a very disturbed and unstable individual. We'll let the police know he threatened you and your home and family. Said the fire marshal before he left. Geoff and his license are being investigated. Geoff's yet to reimburse me, as he promised...

Geoff Williams was prompt, courteous, and quick in installing new neon tubes in our kitchen's over-the-sink light fixture, as well as replacing lights in other hard-to-reach areas. JM, Crocker Highlands
I would highly recommend Williams Electric. We had him install Arc Fault Circuit Breakers in our 1920s bungalow and he also fixed up some shady DIY work in the crawl space. He works fast and his price was fair. We will be return customers.

It was clear that Geoff knew what he was doing when I showed him the problem in my apartment building - the common area lights were all off but none of the breakers had been tripped. It turned out it wasn't electrical at all. It was a snafu at PGE.
I appreciate that he came quickly to solve my problem by pointing me to PGE and what I needed to do. The power was back on within 30 minutes. Without Geoff's knowledge, it would have taken a lot longer to troubleshoot the issue.
Wow... for 15 years we have had problems with several outlets in our home. Several qualified electricians have tried to troubleshoot the challenge and just couldn't fix them or tell me exactly why they don't work. They never charged us since they couldn't figure it out so we just gave up. I was referred to Williams Electric and saw their reviews. I called and talked with a real person who said I'd get to talk to an electrician sometime today. I went out to walk my dogs and Geoff Williams (the owner) was parking his truck and was in and out i swear in less than 45 minutes. All the outlets, smoke and CO2 alarms were checked and he found several batteries that were dead.. he replaced them and everything now works just fine. This all just happened today and I figured this would be a half day adventure without even knowing if they could solve it. Pleasantly surprised. Let the light shine on.

Awesome experience, had Williams Electric out to troubleshoot and replace a defective electric panel using unsafe arc fault breakers. House is only 16 years old, 3500sq. ft luxury home in Montclair hills of Oakland. That job went really smoothly. So two months later when a circuit using DFI blew and took out the refrigerator, microwave and electric kettle, called them again. Geoff came out the next morning and found both a defective DFI AND a defective circuit breaker. He replaced both, got everything working again in thirty minutes and even left us with treats for the family dog.
My girlfriend and I hired Geoff for a larger job in the house we had just purchased: replacing two FP&E panels, something he's done a lot of (search YouTube for his appearance on NBC discussing those panels).
We were very happy with the work Geoff did. He was clear about what needed to be done, how long it would take, and Rhonda from the office was great at communicating dates and times for inspections and other PG&E visits. Geoff was on time for the job and got it done exactly as he said he would. And despite claiming he wasn't a great carpenter, Geoff actually did a fair job patching up the drywall and siding around the panels.
We're happy we no longer have to worry about FP&E panels failing - thanks Geoff!
This review is for a Commercial Building. I found Geoff on Yelp.. thanks reviewers!
Geoff was friendly, knowledgeable and professional. Not to mention he was able to come right away and restore our power. I called him around 9 am and he arrived within 15 minutes. Power was restored within the hour. I can't thank him enough. I would definitely recommend him and we will be using him again.. although I hope we don't need to for a while. :)
Update: Geoff called to follow up and make sure that everything was still working great. 5 Stars!
I had an electrical issue so I asked if they could help. They responded almost immediately and told me they could do the job but it would be very expensive and probably not worth it. I appreciate the honesty despite the fact that it cost them business.
My house is older and has a myriad of electric problems. Over the past year I have had 4 other electricians in to give me estimates on repairs and as well as specific fixes. Geoff Williams was the first to come in do set up an estimate and fix a long term problem in less than an hour. Plus he found burnt wiring that could have been a fire danger. I truly appreciate his knowledge and ability to quickly assess problems.

20 years ago, when my Husband and I purchased our first house in Richmond, all of the original wiring from when the house was built in 1942 was still in place. We needed a complete & significant electrical upgrade, including new GFCI outlets, added more outlets to each room, and a whole new electrical panel installed. Geoff was highly recommended to us by our realtor at Red Oak Realty (a long-standing, and well-established real estate business in the bay area). Geoff was amazing. He scoped out what needed to be done and did a major upgrade to the whole house in one day! I was impressed and grateful to say the least, especially since I had so many contractors to coordinate, some of whom would cancel at the last minute, or not arrive when they were scheduled. Not Geoff. He was on time, reliable, honest, fast, efficient, and did excellent high-quality work.
In all of these 20 years, I have not needed or had any electrical problems or concerns, albeit PG&E power outages, etc. Fast-forward 20 yrs. to present. About a week ago, kitchen outlets above the counters and overhead lights started flickering & dimming frequently. The microwave and washing machine were making beeping sounds, when they were not being used. At first, this was intermittent - happening once every few weeks, but as of last week, the flickering, dimming, beeping, and increased outlet failures started to occur throughout the house, until finally half the house did not have power. Even the central heating in my house stopped working, and eventually washer and dryer didn't work either.
I called Williams Electric on a thursday and Rhonda answered. I explained how Geoff had upgraded and installed all the electrical in my house 20 yrs. ago, and then filled her in on what I described above. Rhonda was very helpful. She consulted with Geoff whose advice was to first seek out help from PG&E. His guess was that ...there is a loose or missing hot strand either at the pole or at the weather head... (which connects to breaker panel).
I followed Geoff's advice, and my order to PG&E I expressly asked them to check at the pole *and* at the weather head & panel. PG&E technician came to my house, and left me a written report of findings, since I wasn't home when they arrive to investigate and fix. I wrote to Geoff and Rhonda, reporting what PG&E stated, which was that there was no problem on their end and that they inspected all lines and PG&E equipment and all was in good order.
Needless to say, the next day the electronic failures were expanding throughout the home. I called Rhonda once again and was also communicating via email to Geoff. Both of them were responsive, asking pointed questions about whether the PG&E technician actually did investigate the wiring on the pole as well as wiring on weather head, near breaker panel. PG&E arrived again today. The 2nd PG&E technician assumed that his predecessor had done ALL of the work requested, since his report said that he did. The technician was defending his colleague -- certain that the technician would not have lied. I watched as the second technician ran tests at the meter and weather head, eventually climbining the pole, fixing/repairing two wires, and the finally finding the culprit wire on the weather head itself. It was, in fact, what Geoff and Rhonda had predicted: a loose or missing hot strand at the weather head that was on PG&E's end!
In all of these phone calls and emails, both Rhonda and Geoff were cautious and thorough. It was clear that they had my best interest at stake. At any time, Geoff could have easily taken advantage of my situation - knowing how eager and vulnerable I was to get the issue resolved. Instead, they both had measured, clear responses based on asking the right questions and listening to my descriptions. Geoff has enormous integrity and is an incredibly gifted and reliable electrician. Rhonda was extremely helpful in guiding and explaining all aspects and scope of the work involved based on the symptoms I described.
They saved me copious amounts of time and money - and gave me so much guidance, clarity, and peace of mind. Highly recommend Williams Electric. Thank you sooooo much!!
Geoff and Ronda were great! Had Geoff come in to install two new outlets, easy enough. The five stars are for the extra work he did unasked. He checked the panel and tightened some loose wires that could've been a fire hazard. And when I mentioned another outlet that frequently shorted, he checked it and swapped the breaker for a higher amperage to reduce my shortages. Oh, and found and tightened a bunch more loose wires, too!

Williams Electric did a great job diagnosing various electrical problems I had in my house. A few years ago a new main was installed in connection with construction at our house. For some reason, in the last few months, several breakers kept tripping on the old knob and tube wiring. My husband kept trying to fix it, but he wasn't successful. We were expecting many relatives for the Christmas holidays, so I didn't want the power going out during dinner parties. After looking around, we asked Williams Electric to come out. Geoff showed up on time, examined the main breaker, a few splice boxes, and fixed the problem in less than two hours. This was about one month ago, and we didn't have any electrical problems during our Christmas holidays. Kudos to Williams Electric.

Geoff was hugely helpful to me and my husband in that he did not recommend a house call - said it would be expensive and likely we did not need it. Instead he went back and forth with us on email (probably six rounds), helping us diagnose the problem and choose appropriate lightbulbs for our finicky fixtures. Not only was Geoff extremely prompt in his responses and helpful, he was also obviously concerned about not charging us for a service we did not need. We will definitely contact Geoff in the future if we have other electrical issues.

Rhonda and Geoff are great. Rhonda is prompt at returning calls, and she's incredibly knowledgeable about their work as well as professional, honest/upfront, and accommodating about their workload. Geoff is a true electrician... he may seem rough around the edges, but he knows his stuff, is efficient and no-nonsense, and he did actually crack a smile at the end of his visit to my home. :)
Here was my situation... I tried to install a light fixture myself in my daughters' room. I turned off the appropriate circuit break (as labeled by the previous electrician), but alas, when I went to put in the new fixture, there were two giant sparks, and I blew out the circuit to my girls' room, my bathroom, and my bedroom. I was VERY concerned about my girls' bedroom re: potential fire, etc.... apparently, the previous electrician mislabeled the circuit breakers, and there was still some current running through the wires I was working with. (I was very lucky I was uninjured.) Anyways, due to the safety concern, I called many, MANY electricians in the area, and they all told me they couldn't come for WEEKS. Not so with Williams Electric! Rhonda spoke with Geoff, and due to the safety concerns, they fit me in right away, even though his day and upcoming weeks were already packed. I REALLY, REALLY appreciated this. Geoff came within 12 hours, ignored the usual pleasantries of intros, etc., and went right to work on the light fixture, circuit, and panel. He not only got the fixture working, he did some magic with the panel in 10 minutes that got my shorted circuit working again. He then told me about some deficiencies in my panel (old electrician use wrong kind of breakers), and he was honest about the criticality of changing it (doesn't need to be done right away, but should be done to prevent things like this in future; totally didn't try to sell me or anything). (Then he smiled. :) )
Other things to note:
- Their rate was less than half of what another electrician was quoting me for an emergency call.
- I also love that they are local to my Oakland neighborhood!
Geoff and Rhonda - thank you so much for helping this mom out and making sure my girls' room was safe and in order. And thank you also for taking the time to fix the rest of what I broke! I really appreciate your making the time for this job! THANK YOU!
Geoff has done electrical work for me on three occasions and his work has alwaysbeen excellent. His partner Rhonda is efficient in setting up schedules for work.
Excellent company.
Wanted to take a moment to recommend Geoff and Williams Electric for your electrical needs. Geoff has supported us on a few occasions and recently added additional outlets and upgraded the circuit breakers on our 99 year old home in Crocker Highlands. After the project, we had an issue with one of the circuits at night, and after a call to Geoff, he cam out that evening right away to resolve it. Thanks for the support and responsiveness, Geoff!
As usual, just like last time, Geoff was on time, got the job done on budget with minimal interruption and clever ideas. Super kind to my dog and daughters as well.
Geoff was a pleasure to have work on my house! Not only is his work the best in the business but he is also a funny interesting guy! He installed some new outlets and breakers, and he ran conduit that looks clean and level along the house. I am really into gaming and he hooked everything up without shutting off the power so that he wouldn't disrupt my game.(wasn't even asked to do it, just a caring person)
I would highly recommend Geoff for any electrical job and will be calling him again for my next job!!
We recently moved into a home with an older electrical system, and needed some help making sure it was safe. It turns out, Geoff has decades of experience working on older wiring, so we were very happy to find him.
Geoff replaced 2 older electrical panels and populated them with new AFCI breakers, to protect against hidden wiring faults. He also replaced our ungrounded outlets with GFCI's to reduce the shock hazard. Geoff even discovered that one of our older outlets was wired backwards, and cleaned out the accumulated dust (a potential ignition source) in each of the electrical boxes.
Scheduling was easy between Geoff and Rhonda, the work was finished on time, and he was able to take out and final the permits as well.
Highly recommended.
I've had Geoff over to do some work before, but after this last appointment I wont have him over again.
I hired Williams Electric to put in some wall sconce lights in my bedroom.
The first thing Geoff did was put a large hole in my bedroom wall where he thought the light should go, it was the wrong spot. When I confronted him about it, he said I told him that was where I wanted the light, which wasn't true. I sent a photo to him before the appointment showing him where I wanted the light, which was clearly in a different spot. I had to pull up the photo to prove to him he picked the spot without my approval. He ended up putting the light in the right spot, but now I have a patched hole in my wall that doesn't look good. In fact, I am going to have to hire a handyman to get the wall to look good again.
One other thing, Geoff took one of my bath towels to use as a tarp. I didn't realize this until he handed it to me and asked my to throw away all of the debris inside the towel. He pretty much ruined a good bath towel. All of the other contractors I have had over to do work at my house have brought their own tarps, I have never had someone go into my dirty laundry basket and help themselves to a bath towel. To be perfectly honest, I am really disgusted and personally offended by his action.
Geoff did try to make up for it by knocking a couple of hundred bucks of the job, but I don't think that justified his actions. I really wanted a solid job at full price, instead of a couple of hundred bucks off for electrician who doesn't respect personal property.

Williams Electric is great. Jeff is a true professional. He is a master at his trade and offers great suggestions and solutions. He has done alot of work on my home and has never diaspointed me. His wife Ronda is very professional and friendly and her billing is outlined well. I consider both of them friends. Thank you so much Jeff and Ronda. I know I will have more work for you soon..cheers
Called and spoke with a lady who stated she would call me back with an appointment time. She or anyone ever called me back. Spent 10k with another electrician who did call back.
I just read his reply and had to edit. How could he say what work I wanted and he doesn't even know my name because we never spoke. My screen name on Yelp isn't my actual name that I left when I called his business. If 10k worth of electrical work is a small job, this guy must wire arenas or skyscrappers everyday. Just say I was busy and sorry I couldn't call. Don't lie on the customers. Be better than that.

We had a light fixture that was supposed to be easy to install. We tried to install it for an entire evening, but something about the wiring in our house wasn't lining up with what was in the instructions. Once we gave up and called Williams Electric (which we should have done first), Geoff showed up on time, and was very quick to diagnose and solve our problem (and explained the solution to me, though it was a bit over my head as an amateur electrical engineer). The work was good and he charged us exactly what we he quoted us. I would definitely work with Williams Electric again.
It was time to bring our 1941 house electricity up to code with grounded wires, GFCI outlets, and circuit breakers to replace the old fusebox that was located in a hallway closet. Ronda and Geoff were terrific from start to finish - Ronda was incredibly responsive and easy to schedule, and Geoff is indeed a master electrician - dare I say, an electricity artisan. Electricity is truly his passion, and he approaches it with the respect, determination, and awe of a religious mystic. Our work was completed in no time (along with some excellent bonus recommendations - like additional lighting in our garage, who knew?!) and on budget, with a generosity of spirit and craftsmanship that we really appreciated. The work passed inspection without a hitch (it was clear the guy was familiar with Geoff's work), and we now have our house grounded in the modern world.
Geoff recently updated our home's wiring and main electrical panel; Highly recommend his work! He corrected some unsafe wiring issues and had to deal with a bad 70's kitchen remodel not done right. Now we have a great new panel and a safer house.
He's an honest and fast worker, and an expert at what he does. Would definitely use Williams Electric in the future
Geoff can be quirky, but he is courteous, professional, responsive and always shows up on time. And he knows what he's doing. We had him design and install some exterior landscape lighting, swap out some fixtures, and do other minor electrical jobs. While the set-up he recommended for our exterior lighting might've been a little more than we needed, it turned out to be beautiful. We had a bit of a fight over the placement of one cord, which looked very sloppy to me, but he agreed, came back and ran it in a way that looked much tidier.
Also, when some other construction workers damaged a switch box that he installed, he was kind enough to come back and repair the damage at no cost to me. I thought that was very considerate of him.
We also had Geoff evaluate the electrical systems in another house that we were considering buying. We appreciated his thoroughness and concern for her safety. (As with every contractor, it's a good idea to get multiple proposals/estimates for your job and to figure out whether s/he is the right person for that particular job.)

The power to our gas stove went out and I called Williams Electric to schedule an appointment. Ronda gave me some suggestions and steps to take first with our circuit breaker and resetting the gfci outlet. Anyway, it worked and she saved us time and a visit from the electrician. Thank you Ronda.
PLEASE READ MY PREVIOUS REVIEW BELOW (it does not show up on phone app).
UPDATE: Geoff Williams' work FAILED to pass City of Oakland INSPECTION. He made several code violation and his work is deemed NOT SAFE. All the breakers weren't installed properly as well as the neutral wires landing on ground bus. No arc fault protection. I will be posting more photos.
To retaliate my honest review of his bad work, Williams created fake Yelp page of my business using my home address and linked my 1-star review of his company to make appear as if I had received a bad review. His willingness to engage in this type of unlawful acts clearly shows his flawed character.
After he walked off the job after 3 hours on the first day, he returned the second day with his wife Ronda. She handed me the contract to sign. He started work without the contract which I pointed out to him when he arrived on the first day. To this he responded you okayed on email. When they presented contract the next day asking me to sign, they said it's the same contract, but it was altered.
Geoff Williams is a malicious and dangerous individual with absolutely no moral grounds. He also made a RACIST remarks toward me (he removed immigrant part after I called it a racist remark).
I also noticed that he has exposed another 1-star reviewer's real name on his response, a clear violation of content guidelines showing more of his moral deficit.
He has been threatening me to sue for libel and defamation. Ironically, himself is committing these offenses, not I. Also, I found that he has sued others in 2007 and 2009 for defamation. He is threatening to put a lien on my house for $2,600 balance I am withholding during the inspection. He continued to lie that I gave him a bad check. I challenge him to produce evidence of this. I do have a copy of $2,000 check he cashed.
If you who had him do the electrical work on their house, especially if they took his advice and had not pulled a permit, I urge you to get his work inspected. Electrical safety is not to be treated lightly and it is not worth saving few hundred dollars on permit.
The bottom line is, stay clear of Williams Electric. If you don't get electrocuted from his faulty work, you will from his aggressive and litigious tactics.

It was such a great experience overall.
He was very prompt at replying to my e-mails, nice and to the point. He showed up on time, he knew what he needed to get the job done, worked very efficiently and ended up costing less than what he initially quoted. I'm very happy with him and would definitely call him again.
Geoff came out immediately and fixed my electrical issue. Thank you! You really saved me.
Mike
Geoff was quick to respond and full of knowledge..including a cautionary tale about our federal breaker panel! Would def recommend.
We needed a grounding rod & wire for our foundation after some work on it.
All I can say is that the inspector came two days later and signed off on it,
We're safe and up to code! Thanks Geoff!
After I posted this review, Mr. Williams called me three times (leaving no message), then left two messages demanding that I remove this review. He also sent me four messages through the Yelp system stating that he was suing me for libel (and reminded me that he knows where I live).
While my recollection of the details may not be perfect, and Mr. Williams remembers things differently, my rating still stands: I was extremely unhappy with Mr. Williams' work and interactions, and I remain completely dis-satisfied with this business.

Williams Electric (WE) offered us Excellent Service! We are a local non profit in Oakland and needed some electrical work done same day. WE's came out a few hours after I called and completed the job within the hour.
We needed power outlet's looked at, new outlet's installed and our breaker box reconfigured. Geoff did it all. He worked within our budget and got us set up better than before. Geoff is extremely knowledgeable and shares out information so that the client is in the know.
I highly recommend Williams Electric. Very Happy Customer and will definitely call them again.
Needed help with a short in an electric box. Was able to schedule Geoff for the next morning. He solved my problem quickly and was finihed in less than an hour. Will use them afain.
The breaker to our dryer only trips in the rain and only sometimes. So this time a couple of weeks ago in the rain it happened again. I called around and couldn't even get anyone to answer their phone, let alone come out. That is until I called Williams Electric. The phone was answered right away and Geoff was here at the house within an hour or so.
He found some problems with how the dryer was wired and found our short. Within an hour and a half it was all fixed. I found the cost reasonable. Especially since he came right away and on a rainy day. Our electrical panel is outside!
Would use Williams Electric again in a minute.
Fantastic service, skills and knowledge. We just bought a new house and both Ronda and Geoff have been great! Before closing, Geoff came to the property to diagnose the concerns. They were even willing to take the time to break all of the work into priority tiers, giving my husband and I the opportunity to incorporate all of the electrical into our budget. We will most certainly be calling Geoff for all our future electrical jobs and I highly recommend you do the same!

We were having some hard-to-explain furnace problems, and a perceptive heating technician from Atlas Heating figured out that we had some kind of electrical issue that he couldn't fix.
I found Williams Electric to sort out the electrical issue, and Geoff came out the next day (New Years Day no less!). He figured out that an improperly grounded wire was sending a charge all over our crawl space - a troubling and potentially very dangerous situation. Geoff was methodical and thorough. He figured out what was wrong and fixed the problem quickly and for a very reasonable fee. I would recommend Williams without any hesitation.

Geoff and Ronda are great. They've done two jobs for us at different properties, both times replacing our old outlets and bringing them up to modern standards. Geoff is always keen to what customers want and is more inclined to give you a good deal than to talk you into unneeded extra work, as others might. Thumbs up.
Geoff was great. He was able to rethink the job and knocked $1000 off the original quote. Definitely recommend him. He is an expert electrician.

Prompt response from my yelp inquiry; Geoff identified the root cause of a short in one of our circuits.... thankfully he found a major fire hazard which he removed and fixed. Great job.
We needed to get a defective circuit fixed and called Williams Electric based on the great reviews here. We were not disappointed.
Ronda set up an appointment for the following day and Geoff came 15 minutes early after calling ahead. Within 5 minutes he had identified the problem, within 15 he had replaced the defective part (at no extra charge) and gotten our light back on. Since our house is old, I asked Geoff to make an overall assessment of our electricals, which he did, explaining any issues to me in layman's terms.
Excellent service, no hidden charges (questionable pun intended), we'll use Williams Electric again.
I had an electrical emergency today in which an outlet plate was extremely hot with issues extending along the circuit into another room. I stayed home from work because I knew this was something that needed immediate attention, and Williams Electric came to the rescue!
Rhonda answered the phone immediately and was great at talking me through it. Geoff called back within a short period of time to learn more about the situation and move it up in priority before a fire broke out. It was a good thing he did because there was significant melting of wiring and plastic caps in three of the outlets on the circuit. None of the other electricians I called in the morning even bothered to call me back.
It was obvious Geoff knew what he was talking about as he took a look at the electrical wiring in the house (built in the 1920s), and showed me the overall condition. I had asked for an assessment and Geoff explained the good, the bad and the ugly in a way I could understand. His pricing was fair, especially for the immediate attention, and he made recommendations to bring the house to safety without breaking the bank.
I will definitely have Geoff handle the upgrade work after my experience today.
Williams Electric responded quickly to my request for an EV charging station installation estimate. We emailed back and forth on how to prepare my permit application for the City of Berkeley. As soon as I had my permit in hand he came out the next day and installed the station in two hours time. He even lowered his estimate when he saw there was less panel work involved than he thought. I would hire him again for electrical work.
Nothing but praise! I hired Geoff for his services to install recessed lighting in my condo. Geoff does excellent, professional work and in a timely fashion. I called in on to a few other electricians as well but Williams Electric had the best price and with the reputation and high quality work Williams is a no brainier. My place is no longer depressing from the lack of light! I also appreciated the time Geoff put for explaining pros/cons of fixtures and light placement. Stick around for the job- great conversation and you'll learn a thing or two!
Williams Electric is great!! We had a circuit smoking problem and they fixed it promptly and below the average cost. Rhonda and Geoff are a good team delivering reliable service. No reservations in recommending them in the Oakland area.
Geoff was reliable and timely. Put in a new 240 Volt line in my garage for a plug in hybrid car, and noticed and repaired an unsafe connection between street power lines and my household wiring.
We just bought our first home. During the general inspection a number of electrical issues (lack of grounding on some outlets, loose wires in the crawl space, etc.) came up, so our inspector called Williams Electric. It was a Saturday, but Geoff (the owner) came out and assessed at the same time as our general inspection. This really gave us peace of mind.
Once we closed on the house, we had Geoff fix the critical issues. He is a man of few words, but was professional and always willing to explain what was required. He even took the time to swap out some new GFI outlets that didn't match our kitchen.

I highly recommend Williams Electric for any electrical work you may need. I had a fire in an outlet and Williams Electric made an emergency visit to my home to address the problem within one hour of my call. Geoff the proprietor was extremely professional and courteous and he resolved the underlying problem in a short time-frame. In addition to addressing the specific incident Geoff performed a tune up on the circuit box to reduce the risk of future fires and he installed a sorely needed light in a bedroom closet all for a reasonable price. Honestly, I've never experienced such stupendous service from anyone. Williams Electric is a stand-out company that performs quality work with great skill and integrity. I strongly recommend them. Williams Electric can be reached at 510-339-5601.
Geoff at Williams Electric is amazing! He responds quickly, is extremely professional and always very informative. I have worked with Geoff several times over the years and I'm always amazed at how up-to-date his knowledge is and that he is willing to give his time and expertise to make me feel better about the jobs that he does.
In any construction project, large or small, there are always three things that everyone wants:
- Fast
- Cheap
- Good
Typically you only get two out of three (if you are lucky). With Geoff at William's Electric you get all three.
If you are looking for an honest, informed electrician, Geoff is your guy! I cannot recommend him highly enough!
Very professional. Good problem solver. Highly recommend.
Geoff is a no-nonsense, get-it-done professional who knows what he is doing. Always talk to Ronda for scheduling.
There is no doubt that Geoff is a master electrician. His experience, expertise, and professionalism astonish. He diagnosed a fairly serious electrical problem on the PG&E line to our home, which helped them get it right and fixed. Wish we had found him years ago. Wouldn't let anyone else but Geoff do upgrades in our home. Thanks to Rhonda, too! Her expertise shared by phone made a huge difference to us.
If I could rate Williams Electric with ten stars instead of five, I would do it!
Over the past week we had suffered outages on some but not all circuits in the house. We did some research and discovered that the 1950s-era Federal Pacific breaker panels may have been the cause. We also discovered that the Federal Pacific systems were potentially hazardous. We found Geoff Williams and Williams Electric in a search for local electricians in Yelp, and Geoff's expertise was clearly the ideal match for our needs. I called on Saturday morning, July 15 (after reading about the potential hazards), and later that Saturday morning Geoff arrived to analyze the situation. He and Ronda promptly provided a reasonable estimate, and we scheduled the circuit breaker panel replacements for Wednesday and Thursday. In the course of replacing the first panel, we discovered another more fundamental issue affecting power delivery to the house. This issue was potentially life-threatening to anyone working on the roof, and on Wednesday afternoon Geoff remedied the power-delivery problem, which probably triggered the issues in our circuit breakers.
I was able to spend time watching Geoff's highly methodical and exacting labors, which revealed a level of attention to quality that I had never before observed in other electricians' work at our home. It's not that they were sub-standard; it's just that Geoff's focus and discipline were evident throughout with no cut corners anywhere.
Finally, Geoff was personable, friendly, and pleasantly conversational without lessening his efficiency. Geoff and our dog also became fast friends. We could not have been more satisfied and pleased with everything that Geoff did for us. We recommend him unreservedly for any electrical work that you may need. Thanks, Geoff -- and Ronda, too!
Fantastic company - responsive, good service, technically skilled. I had a 240 v outlet installed - the work was done quickly and professionally. I would hire Williams Electric for my next electrical project.
My brother and I suddenly had several different outlets in several different rooms in our house fail at once. Geoff was cool enough to come in on a Saturday morning to check out the situation, and within fifteen minutes had the problem addressed and was out the door. Literally - 15 freakin minutes and we could once again have light, use all our kitchen appliances, and keep my brother from having to shave his head over my sink EVER AGAIN. If I wasn't a staunch agnostic I'd swear up and down that it was a gift from heaven. Thanks Geoff!
Great service! Was able to schedule a Saturday appointment easily, Geoff came and got through my little list of items quickly and efficiently. Super knowledge and good with dogs too. Will call again. So glad to have found this local shop as I have struggled to find an electrician that is responsive.
Geoff'' Came out and personally did a excellent job'' I was able to pass electrical inspection with the City of Oakland the first time'' I would use Williams Electric again''

I have a Montclair district home built in 1927. The original 90-year old main panel needed to be replaced which meant moving it from one side of the house to the other in order to meet code. This job included having to move the power line to the other side of the house too. To me this all was a very big deal. To Geoff it was a walk in the park. Job took two days with loss of power off for less than 5 hours. It was a very positive experience that I had worried needlessly about and the job handily passed PGE inspection. Rhonda was a perfect intermediary.
I cannot recommend Geoff highly enough. We decided to install a projector, projector screen and surround sound speakers in the walls of our home and as the project proceeded it became apparent our old home had all sorts of nasty surprises for our installers, which required the services of an electrician. Geoff was on time for the site visit and offered a quote quickly. Then, because we had the installers on site, Geoff inconvenienced himself and rushed over on a day he had other work to complete (and had told us previously he probably couldn't make it that day). Then, when the installers accidentally clipped an electrical wire, Geoff found himself with more work to do and was well within his rights to charge us significantly more than he quoted us. You know what he did instead? He took $200 off his originally quoted price because he and I had a nice conversation about life and the holidays and because Geoff is a genuinely decent person. We've heard lots of horror stories about hiring people to do work on your house and it was really something to have such a great experience. Geoff knows his stuff, he works fast and he works hard. He did a great job and we will definitely call him again next time we need any electrical work. Thanks Geoff!
Luckily, my problem was easily taken care of,but I would not hesitate to call Geoff for any electrical needs.
We had an outdoor electrical outlet which wasn't working. It's been on the to do list for months since it's tough to schedule house maintenance around work schedules. Called Jeff Saturday morning around 10AM and he was here by 1130AM. Had the outlet replaced and circuit breaker fixed in 20 minutes. Couldn't ask more!
Geoff and Rhonda are fantastic. I called them and Geoff squeezed me into his packed day, showing up within minutes. He clearly knows his stuff. Looking forward to working with them on installing an electric vehicle charging station at our residence.

A tree knocked out the powerline from our house and did some damage to the weathercap. PG&E said we needed it fixed before they could reconnect our house. I called Geoff and he was up to my house within 15 minutes and got the job done within 2hours. Fantastic! Thank you Geoff
He is a pro. Very through and professional. I appreciated all of the preventative work that he did at my home.
Had a great experience with Williams Electric. They offered fast, responsive service (returned initial call almost immediately), offered very helpful troubleshooting, and set us up with an appointment within hours, even on a Saturday!! Geoff identified and fixed our problem right away. Would definitely use their services again.

This review is almost a year late in coming! But I only have great things to say. We needed to get our electrical panel replaced in a hurry during the 2013 holidays. Most folks we called were either unavailable or were charging exorbitantly. Thankfully we found Williams Electric through Yelp. Geoff and Ronda are a great team. Ronda set us up promptly and managed the scheduling and logistics. Geoff really knows his stuff - he worked quickly, patiently and independently and got our panel replaced with no hassles. He helped us fix a couple of weird outlets that kept tripping. I have recommended Williams Electric to neighbors and friends and will be getting in touch soon to have more work done.

We lost power at our home while we were traveling out of state. After being notified of the problem by our tenants, we contacted Williams Electric on a Saturday morning. Their response was amazing: They diagnosed our problem, arranged temporary power for our tenants and then made the necessary major repair the next day--all while we were gone. Highly recommended!
Geoff and Ronda Williams provided me with prompt and expert advice and service electrically updating my home in Montclair. Completely new to the area, I found their company on Yelp. Lucky me! I would definitely recommend Williams Electric.

I can't say enough about how impressed I was by Geoff and Ronda at Williams Electric. Fast, professional, courteous, knowledgeable, caring and honest -- you can't ask for more. I will be using Williams Electric again.
The reviews here are dead-on! Geoff and Williams Electric were fast, courteous, friendly, and got the job done perfectly.
We bought a great mid-century modern house a few years back and while it's wonderful, the one period detail we didn't love was the preponderance of two-plug outlets throughout the whole house. After years of dealing with extra-long extension cords from the handful of three-plug outlets we had, we realized it was time to upgrade. I called Geoff based on these Yelp reviews and had an appointment two days later -- on a Saturday, no less.
Geoff arrived a couple of minutes before the appointed time (early???!! awesome!), did a quick walk-through to check what we wanted, and got to work. Within an hour he had completely swapped out ten two-prong outlets with brand-new three-prong GFIs, tested them, and made sure we knew the ins and outs. He also charmed my two kids with cat and squirrel noises and was super-patient about letting them peek over his shoulder as he worked.
He also gave me a quick lesson on why outlets suck in so much dust and how that can be a fire hazard, and reminded us to have our dryer vents cleaned out for safety.
We've worked with a lot of service folks in this older house and I have to say that after one visit, Geoff has shot to the top of our list. Highly recommended. :-)
We had our refrigerator go out on Thanksgiving day and Geoff Williams came out to fix it within a half an hour! We highly recommend him, He provides friendly, quick service with reasonable prices.
Wish we could give him 10 stars!! He is an amazing electrician. He really knows his stuff. We needed an electrician. He came quickly and had us fixed up in no time. You will not be disappointed!!
I called to ask about installing an outlet for an electrical vehicle at my apartment. Geoff was very friendly and informative and talked to me at length about my options. I don't know very much about this sort of thing, so it was really nice to get information from someone who knows what they're doing. Thanks Geoff!
Geoff did a great job wiring my house, installing fixtures, and more. He's a great guy, very knowledgeable and easy to work with, and definitely had my best interests at heart. And get this--while on the job, he got bitten by a neighbor's pit bull, and he didn't make a stink about it. Talk about rolling with the punches! He's a stand-up guy I highly recommend.
I called Geoff for a tricky electrical job. He came right away, fixed the problem in short order, and charged at a reasonable price.

This review is long overdue. We have had Geoff over to our house several times to do all sorts of things--installing fixtures, a new ceiling fan, replacing faulty breakers, fixing overloaded lines due to poor electrical work by previous owners, etc. (this is after having called other electricians who couldn't figure out what some of the problems were) and each time he fixed everything with confidence and ease.
Geoff is incredibly knowledgeable and I have him come over knowing that he'll be able to fix whatever needs to be fixed, and to explain the issue so that I have a better idea as to what is going on. He is fairly priced, nice to my dog and kids, and quick to respond. If you need an electrician, you won't regret calling Geoff.
Thanks Geoff! We will see you as soon as we are ready to replace our doorbell :)

Great guy. Such a joy to have a contractor actually call you back in a timely manner. Which seems strange that I actually have to mention.
Geoff showed up on time for both the estimate and the work. Geoff works on Saturday which was amazing!
I hilly recommend Geoff for those that want no hassle professional.

Geoff did a great job at my store on Oakland...was really knowledgeable about problems that older electrical systems can have, and that extra work he does to elevate knowledge about dangers and precautions means that he is passionate about his work, and helping people. He did a great job for us.

Excellent. One stop shopping for electrical work. Was not only an expert but was willing to be patient while someone, me, stood around in hopes of learning a little. This is rare, as most professionals do not want to be bothered with anyone around. You can't go wrong with Geoff. He goes beyond the call of duty in expertise and workmanship.
After calling several electricians and either getting no response or being told they were booked for the next three months out, I got a callback from Ronda a couple hours after I left a message. I had just a few small miscellaneous electrical tasks, and she said Geoff was available the next day for an hour to stop by. Geoff quickly and expertly fixed some miswired switches and installed new ones, and provided a quote on some lighting, all for a flat fee. It can be hard to find someone willing to take on such a small job (really hard, actually), and the expertise we got was well worth it. Based on their website and reviews it seems they certainly have done many, much larger projects as well. We'll definitely call them again for any future electrical needs.
We contacted Williams Electric from Yelp and we are very disappointed. We received one text back on 10/9/15 indicating they would contact us and a woman named Rhonda did call a day or two later indicating she would email me to set up an appointment. That was 5 days ago and we have heard nothing more. Horrible customer service.
When I woke up and found my refrigerator was not working, and finally figured out that the electrical socket was not supplying electricity anymore, I called Williams Electric and asked if they could help. I found Williams on Yelp and was impressed with all of the positive comments.
I must say, I was not disappointed one bit. Geoff showed up the same day, despite an extremely busy schedule, and within minutes had replaced the improperly grounded and poorly wired socket the correct way.
My refrigerator was refrigerating again saving me, I am sure, at least a few hundred dollars worth of recently purchased groceries.
Geoff was highly professional, extremely knowledgable, and a great guy to boot. I know my job was probably pretty routine and mundane, but Geoff handled it proficiently and competently and explained everything as he went.
I can whole-heartedly recommend Williams Electric for any kind of electrical work you might have.

We recently purchased a home in Montclair. Built in 1957, the home had several repairs and adjustments made by its prior owners over the years. Needless to say, not all of these repairs were done well. Part of our initial objective was to 'baseline' the house so that we could comb through and make sure all the utilities and essential services were brought up to spec. We wanted to do this in conjunction with some updating and renovations we had planned for the home. As an architect, I'm already pretty picky about how things get put together in a space so it was important to find the right kinds of people when it came time to have work done on my own home.
Geoff was an excellent choice in terms of having someone who knew his trade backwards and forwards. We had him swap out old unsafe FedPac panels (typically installed in homes of this era and location) in addition to upgrading what had to be in order to make things safer. He was patient in explaining what he found, his recommendations on repair options, and always showed up on time. Finally his fees were reasonable and he kept a clean job site. We have no hesitation in recommending Geoff and will continue to have him as our 'Go-To' electrician on future projects.
Geoff is the best. He rewired our 1934 house and killed it. I've had 3 friends (who I respect) independently comment positively on the quality of the work. I'd also say Geoff is fearless- wiring older houses isn't easy and there's surprises all the time, our house included. Geoff came in, respected our picky requests and delivered the results and now our house feels new again. He did it on time and on price. Thanks again.
My home was built in 1928. Some remodeling had been done. My insurance company requested an inspection of my wiring and I was fortunate enough to call Geoff Williams. Several previous wiring jobs had not been done to code and a few things needed attention/repair. Geoff gave me a prompt and reasonable estimate and did the work efficiently and promptly as well. He is very knowledgeable and prepared! I finally feel confident my home is electrically safe. He's also a funny man who likes small dogs (all dogs I think), which is also great in my book! You will be lucky to have him do work for you!

We have used Williams electric once so far, but plan to use him again. Geoff extended his work day by coming to our house after 6 on a recent Monday night. We very much appreciate this extra effort and professionalism.
We had a circuit breaker issue that he quickly corrected. In addition, he tighened up our main electrical line and ground line as he was checking our electrical box for other issues. We were very happy with all aspects of his work and professionalism. Also, his office was great as well; they kept us informed of the timing of his visit.
Geoff has been coming to my house over the years doing varied electrical work. I rely on his honesty and expert understanding of old house electrical problems and fixes.

Geoff is punctual, efficient, friendly, affordable and professional!
He was great about scoping out the project, keeping me informed of progress, and updating me in regards to additional work to be done at a later date. We have a 100 year old craftsman row house and needless to say much of the prior electrical work was not done to code or even before many codes existed. I look forward to using Geoff to update my home and making it safer for my family.
Needless to say I've found my guy! I Will be using him again and again!
We got off to a bit of a shaky start with a missed appointment, but got great service from there.
To make up for the missed appointment, Geoff worked on his day off, New Year's Day to be precise. That is pretty cool!
He was able to diagnose and communicate the problem we have, which will require access to another unit, so could not be solved on the day. While he was out at the appointment he also tightened other connections and tuned up some items at the panels. This is great attention to detail and we really appreciate it.
Friday night - half the outlets in my 1926 bungalow blow out. An hour later refrigerator and washer/dryer go dark...help. I call Williams Electric, Ronda keeps me calm, talks me though a diagnosis of the situation - fridge, washer/dryer back on in less than an hour. 8am Saturday morning Geoff arrives, as planned, to find the fuse box hidden in the upper wall of the closet, affordably changes the overloaded 30 year old glass fuse, house is restored to order by 8:30am, in time to pick up husband/daddy at the airport- home from Afghanistan for Christmas. Thank you Ronda and Geoff, you are the coolest, nicest and most professional electric company in the Bay Area.
Geoff Wiiliams was available and did show up on time. Those were the two positives. I was not pleased with the quality of the work for the price and the area where he worked was not cleaned up. The outlet he installed was crooked and it did not match the other outlets in color or style. The low quality plastic plug he put on the outside of the wall was only partially inserted so it did not stay in. I was hoping the contractors who wired my house were available because they did a fantastic job and had great attitudes (but they were busy doing other large jobs). Geoff seemed gruff and impatient and made a comment about Hispanics taking his work. I think it may be the quality of his work that is taking his work . . .
This review is long overdue! Geoff installed a big, heavy modern chandelier for CB2 in my old dining room last year (November 2016) for a very good price. He came on time, was professional, and he played with my mini poodle! However, this past weekend, as I was cleaning, I noticed that the based of the chandelier had started to fall from the ceiling. I called, and made an appointment a few days later and Geoff came back and reinforced the chandelier...for FREE???!! Talk about standing by his work. Honestly, he didn't even have to do that because the chandelier is huge and our walls/ceilings are from the 1940's. Now that is Excellent Customer service!!!!

We had another great experience with Williams Electric. Our furnace was not running and it appeared to be an electrical issue. Williams Electric came out and resolved the problem (bad breakers) in about 10 minutes. No-nonsense, fast and thorough. Five stars is not enough.
Five stars for Geoff and Rhonda at Williams Electric. Easy to schedule and excellent service. Our landscape lighting is now back in service and a few other electrical to-do's have now been addressed and checked off the list.
I highly recommend Williams Electric.
I called in the afternoon -- he was there the next morning, even though it was not an urgent job. Routed my new outlet as requested and helped me with an additional small job without charging for it. Good guy -- happy to work with him again.
Willliams Electric helped us in an electrical emergency and saved my family. While my wife was breastfeeding, the main power line to our house broke off from the conduit- blowing out our entire fuse box/panel. They fixed it same day! and we got it approved by PG&E in record time. Unbelievable!!! Highly recommended.

Geoff was a pleasure to work with, and the quality of his work was excellent. He brought a few outlets up to code by grounding, replaced another outlet and helped find the problem with our kitchen light burning out. Very knowledgeable, super helpful in explaining things, pointing out code violations, and providing a full story so we understood the decisions we were making. We will definitely call Geoff again when we have electrical or lighting issues.

Geoff came by this morning to look at my steam shower, which was blowing my fuses. He took a look at the panels, got into the basement, and while he couldn't help me, he told me what might be wrong and didn't charge me for the visit.

Recently, my 16 year-old clothes dryer died and it set off a string of events that led me to to seek out a qualified electrician on Yelp. The short story is that I bought a high-efficiency LG dryer, but the amperage of the outlet in my basement was incompatible with the new high-tech machine. It was Friday afternoon and I needed a good electrician fast, so I read the reviews and called Williams Electric. Over the phone they asked some probing questions and they agreed to come out the next morning. The following morning, Geoff showed up right on time and quickly identified a more dangerous issue with my outdated electric panel. He couldn't fix my problems that day, but he promised me an estimate for the work. In a couple of days he provided me with a fair quote and I agreed to getting the work done. Geoff took care of my issues, and needless to say I am relieved to have found him and thankful for his work. My house is old and wrought with weird complexities which included some funky wiring that the previous owner had done. With safety in mind, I didn't want to cut any corners and I am really satisfied with his work! Thank you Williams Electric!
I was lucky to discover Geoff from Williams Electric. He came over quickly in an emergency, solved my problems and discovered a potentially very dangerous situation in one of my fixtures. He was very communicative and helpful as well as extremely knowledgeable and fast. He came back to install a new fixture, install a fan/light and move a fixture to new location. Excellent work, all around. I will not need to find a new electrician as I am completely satisfied with his job skills, demeanor and paying extra attention to my dogs. Can't recommend highly enough!

A BIG thanks to Geoff and Ronda - the dynamic duo. Geoff brings the operational expertise and Ronda brings the customer service. I hired Geoff as a referral from another home owner in my building to replace an outdated fixture and install 2 new ones. My building has antiquated wiring but Geoff knew just what to do! And don't let the quiet/reserved initial impression fool you - he's a very insightful and generous individual with a broad knowledge of his craft. The end result may require some clean-up work but for invasive procedures like new fixtures, that's to be expected. What's more, I had a small issue with one of my fixtures within a day of install - Geoff was immediately responsive and came back the day following my inquiry to personally address and fix at no additional charge. He also offered me recommendations to help ensure the safety of my loved ones and I while in the home. Geoff and Ronda - thank you for your commitment to quality service.
Sincerely, Nikki
Williams Electric did a complete electrical upgrade on my house which was built in 1939 and still had the original fuse box and only 30amps of electricity coming in.
Geoff provided a detailed proposal before beginning the work, with each item explained and priced. And his prices were very good. He did the work as promised and on schedule and was a pleasure to deal with. Later, when a bathroom fan he installed burnt out (through no fault of his own), he returned and replaced it free of charge. Nice.

My house had 20% power all of a sudden. I didn't know what the problem was, so called PGE thinking maybe it was my line to the pole. PGE shows up and cut my power off completely as wires that were coming out at roof line were burned up for some reason. This was a bit scary. I called Williams Electric at 300pm explaining the situation, Geoff was here by 400pm, and I was up and running by 600pm. Remarkable service, and a true lifesaver! (I had visions of candlelight and no internet for who knows how long) THANKS Geoff, very impressed with your service!! .
Geoff was great! He was on time, got all the fix-it projects done fast, and made it very easy. Plus, we have some cats that are usually really nervous around strangers. He took the time to say hello, so they didn't get stressed out. I give him a bug thumbs up!

When we bought our 1915 Craftsman we recieved several electrical estimates - all wanting to fix different things for about the same cost!! After consulting with other electricians we knew in Palo Alto, all agreed that Geoff's estimate had the work we actually needed to modernize our electrical and make our home safe. When Geoff came he was neat, prompt and even took the time to play with our cat and dog during the day. Geoff is truly wonderful!
Geoff came out to look at my laundry room wiring because my new dryer wasn't working. He ended up diagnosing a much bigger issue and helping me get PG and E out to fix my power situation. I do not know what I would have done without his help. For less than $300 I got a serious problem taken care of and his work was both thorough and professional. He also called to follow up after the fact to make sure things were working properly. My experience with Williams electric really put my mind at ease.
When we bid on a fixer in Richmond, Williams Electric did the initial inspection and I was impressed by how detailed the report was so I decided to go with Geoff after we took possession. It was such a mess ...from the old General Pacific 50 amp panel to the creative do-it-yourself wiring by previous owners..half the sockets and switches didn't work at all and power to the stove and microwave was intermittent.
But Geoff tracked down and eliminated all the gremlins. He took care of every concern and then some. When I asked what kind of lighting he would suggest for the garage (we had one measly bulb) he suggested and installed 2 eight-foot fluorescents end to end down the center of the garage ceiling. The difference is literally night and day!
Geoff really knows his stuff and thanks to him I feel safe in my new home. Plus he was very sweet to my cat. Boy did she love him! I highly recommend Geoff!
Williams Electric did a great job on helping me troubleshoot my issue with the electricity and pg&e. Cannot thank you enough!!

We had an untimely power outage associated with the recent high winds. We needed an emergency repair and Jeff came out in less than an hour. He quickly assessed the situation, figured out what was going on, did everything he could do, then told us to call PGE for some additional emergency service (we called while he was still at our place). Jeff handled everything carefully and expeditiously. We highly recommend their service.

Geoff and Rhonda rocked it! I was in big trouble with a baby and all power to my home out. Geoff left a big job to come to me same day, and I know that was a big deal because I couldn't get anyone to come! Not only did he work quickly and efficiently, but he made our home safer. He and Rhonda know the ins and outs of working with PG&E and with the city to pass inspections. They make a great team, and if you have a baby, prepare for those little feet to get some kisses! I very highly recommend Williams Electric and will refer them to all.

Service was fine - two fixtures were installed, and I received advice to replace a hanging lamp. Just note that the baseline service call is the same price, whether your job is small or big. Mine was a relatively small job, taking about 20 minutes to complete. I expect this is on par with other electricians' fee structures.
I have worked with many electricians and he is the best I have worked with. Wow, he is very professional and knowledgable and fixed my electrical problem very quickly. I highly recommend him!!!

I have worked with Geoff twice now. First to install a flat screen television and wall-mount it. Next to have some outdoor lighting installed at our home in Piedmont. Geoff was punctual and did a great job. He is very knowledgeable and works hard. The outdoor lighting he installed was complicated and he tackled it like a professional. It works well and looks beautiful at night.

They were very responsive. Geoff came when they said he would. And my issue was fixed very quickly.
Geoff is by far the best electrician that has worked on my house. My house was built in 1940 and suffered from many issues having previously been owned by a diy electrician. Geoff has years of experience and knows the electrical code backwards and forward, he identified the green ground screws in my Junction boxes as having the wrong thread, I mean who can you point to that will notice such small things and fix them.
He re-pannelled our house, fixed all safety issues, and even ran fifty feet of trench to my garage to install a new sub panel. In the process, being practical he also ran another piece of conduit for future use. Geoff's main goal is to make the house safe for its occupants, and he takes that task very seriously. We had another contractor doing work on our house at the same time, installing an appliance, and Geoff discovered that their so-called electrician's work could have easily burned the house down. Geoff, after getting nowhere with the contractor just fixed his work. Let us just say that without his import, that contractor's work would never have passed inspection. Additionally, Geoff has a special truck which he uses, it has all the tools and general boxes, outlets, etc needed, which means that you don't have to deal with someone that continually goes to the store on your dime. I had the same experience as the previous reviewer. Geoff isn't about money, he expects to get paid of course, but, as his focus was on making the house safe for my family, he did fix some minor issue without charging me. I would recommend Geoff and his company to anyone who is interested in getting the job done correctly the first time, on time and on budget.

We had Williams Electric out to completely rewire the house we bought. It was built in 1924 and had an electrical system from 1924. There was exactly ONE outlet in the living room which is one more outlet than there was in the dining room. Geoff did all the work in less time than he said it would take and did a perfect job. He even agreed to except payment out of escrow when we needed some things done to pass the appraisal required by the mortgage company before we actually bought the house. He dissuaded us from doing expensive bathroom modifications that weren't necessary. He installed a fan/light combo and two cans that look great and cost less than the plans we had for an over the vanity system. He drew up a plan for kitchen lighting that makes our kitchen look awesome and required fewer lights than we were ready to pay for. He knows what he's talking about and brings not just dozens of years of experience as an electrician but an artist's vision. He even stayed late one night--FOR FREE--to help me hang my flat screen TV! He's a good guy and a good electrician and I can't imagine using anybody else.

I had heard from a handyman/electrician that my fuse panel was underserved and outdated. A couple weeks later, I heard strange noises from the panel. Last week the dryer flipped a breaker...and the breaker wouldn't switch back, even though my clothes were cold by the time I noticed it. But the fusebox itself was very hot! I've been in an electrical fire before, and found out that it's not localized: a hot wire will set a fire for the entire length of the wire. (An hour later the box was still hot). It was 7am, and I looked on craigslist for an electrician. Geoff's ad was perfect: the expert on fuseboxes, and it literally said, call me now. I called him; he recommended turning all the breakers off right away. He told me the wire was probably 600 degrees; paper sets on fire at 451. He came that day and replaced the Stab-Lok fuse box, and I learned how that box had a reputation of being defective. And breakers are supposed to switch off fast, not after the wire gets hot as hell. I was lucky to get the perfect guy for the job, at just the right time. He's super experienced and knowledgeable---he started working for his electrician dad when he was 10 and is a master electrician.... and it shows in his work. His estimate was in line with what the handyman/electrician had suggested. I'm very happy with his work.
