HISTORY


Established in 1983.
Rich Severns founded his HVAC business in 1983. He has been repairing Heaters and Air Conditioners for over 35 years. Rich personally performs all his own work in and around Prescott, AZ. He attended UCSB for Mechanical Engineering via a gymnastics scholarship and has completed hundreds of hours in continued HVAC education. He is NATE Certified-4 categories (North American Technician Excellence), NCI Certified in Airflow, IHACI (Air Flow Specialist), H.E.R.S. Rater, EPA Licensed (Universal) and is Title 24 Code compliant.

Worked @ Burke Engineering until I decided to start my own AC business-I much prefer working with my hands outside as opposed to working inside at the same place each day. It is very rewarding to see the smile on customers faces when I get their unit running and they don't have to buy a new one!

Our A/C unit was serviced by Rich last year and we were very pleased with his service. The reason why we contacted the company again.

Our A/C unit is working perfectly fine but up in the attic was where we had the issue. Every time the fan stopped and started it sounded like a freight train passing through the attic. This occurred in early July. And yes, we went through most of the summer suffering through the heatwaves. I work long hours and my fiancé works even longer hours which meant no time to stay home and standby for a tech to work on the air conditioning. I always believed in OPAC Other Peoples Air Conditioning. I work indoors utilizing my employers A/C and I also have a company truck to drive around to use up the A/C while working outdoors. Coming home was s different story. Miserable during both of the heatwaves this past summer, we finally bit the bullet, put some time aside and called Brenda with Murrieta Air Conditioning. Brenda was such a sweetheart, she bared with me as I was trying to explain the issue as I was waking up. She informed me that she was going to send their tech Johnny first thing in the morning.

Johnny showed up. He was polite and professional but at the same time it was like seeing a friend. He promptly went to work on the issue. Climbed up into the attic and took a few minutes to diagnose the problem. Johnny suspected the furnace blower motor was worn and the ball bearings were a no go. The fan blades were scraping the fan shroud was due to the way the builder had installed the unit. That explains the freight train-like sound.  Johnny uninstalled the blower motor fan assembly and shroud within a few minutes. Told me he was going to take it to the shop, adjust the fan blades back into its original place, and replace the motor. He also told me he would be back first thing the following morning. I received a call late afternoon from Brenda to keep me informed if the appointment changes due the availability of the parts.

Johnny was back first thing in the morning with a smile, a newly installed motor on the blower assembly, and a ladder. It took him no longer than half an hour to install the furnace blower assembly, test if it was in working order, clean up the work area, and made time talk shop. In the end the job was complete, no hang ups, everything worked, and the service was very reasonably priced.

I'm extremely satisfied with the quality of service Johnny provided, a top notch professional. Thanks Johnny and Murrieta Air Conditioning.

Thank you Rich and BRENDA. Great team!!  I'm so grateful for same day service during a cold winter day when all the big companies are 2 days out!  I also found out my furnace is from 1994, he didn't try and sell me a new unit, just replaced a bad igniter (much much cheaper). I suggest all you folks that want honest service call Rich!

Great! Rich and his crew fixed my air flow problem.
Another company told us we needed a whole new duct system at several thousands of dollars. Apparently not so. A reconfiguration and some adjustments and the CORRECT filter for our unit and the flow is so much more improved. And didn't cost an arm and a leg. Honest and reliable.

Harley, our technician was prompt, knowledgeable and friendly. He cleaned, checked and adjusted our A/C unit. He assured us we'd be comfortably cool  and energy efficient this summer. The price was very reasonable too. Highly recommend.

What NICE people, starting with Brenda, who scheduled my appointment.  Our AC fan stopped working and with a 15 year old AC unit, I KNEW most repair places would likely just tell me that the whole thing needed replacing.  After reading other Yelp reviews, gave Brenda a call - she scheduled Rich and Michael to come visit.  They arrived on time, and promptly set to work in the attic to determine the cause of the problem.  A burned out IC board.  Rich brought the board down and showed me, as well as the VERY dirty filter which was SUPPOSED to have been changed by the last people who serviced the unit last year.  He and Michael were very personable and very knowledgeable.  Rich said they'd have to get the part from the warehouse and they'd be back the next day to install that and a new filter.  And that they did, the board was the most expensive part of the repair - I thought their labor charge was very reasonable and I was so happy for the honesty of the transaction, not trying to sell me something I did not need.  We will most definitely call on Rich and Michael for our next furnace or AC needs!

I gave Brenda a call after reading all of their stellar reviews on Yelp. She is one of the sweetest and kindest person you'll ever speak to. Being a homeowner can be a scary thing. You're at the mercy of technicians when something breaks or needs servicing. Nowadays many of those companies are just out to make a quick dishonest buck and the unsuspecting homeowner may be severely ripped off.  

With that being said, I'm so glad I found Severns Air Conditioning!!! (aka Murrieta Air Conditioning).  Thanks to internet reviews I had a great feeling about them, and I was right. Everything about them is wonderful, they exude honesty and genuine care for their customers. Just talk to any of them (Rich, Brenda, John) for a few minutes and you'll realize it too.  

These are true professionals. They came out once for HVAC maintenance and another time for a repair. Funny story..our home came with a home warranty, so last year we called one of their technicians because our fan kept blowing even though the A/C was off. The guy ended up telling me it was normal and there was nothing wrong!! He collected his trade-call fee and went about his merry way without fixing anything. I found out this was not normal, and eventually the fan blew non-stop. Rich and Brenda came out right away and quickly diagnosed and fixed the problem. We're happy campers now.  

I really appreciate this family-owned business and have 100% confidence in them for anything we may need in the future.

Southern California's loss; Prescott's huge gain!!
Rich came by today to perform a routine seasonal maintenance on my AC unit.  I just bought my house and suspected that the AC had not had any care in years since the house was a rental prior to my move-in.  Rich serviced the unit and gave good advice on what I can do to 'baby' this 23 year old relic until its end.  Then he asked me if I wanted him to look at the furnace too.  Even though I won't be using it again until autumn I said yes.  He had stated a price for his services prior to the appointment, and did not raise that price after spending a few minutes with the furnace.  Yes, I had to pay for a new part on the AC, but that was to be expected.  All in all, Rich is a great guy and I will definitely be using Prescott AC again!  Highly recommended!

Nowadays, its rare to find a courteous, honest & reliable professionals to do some work in your home.  We needed our AC & Heating fixed & we found Rich. He was referred by someone who he done some work with & had very good reviews with Severns AC & Heating.  We called & talked to Rich about the issue and he actually showed up the same day we called him even though it was after work hours!  He made arrangements and fixed our AC & Heating in a very timely manner and he even stayed later than he should have until the work was done! Amazing!  He did a great  job at a reasonable price! Now, we are staying warm and will be ready for the cold season! Thanks to you, Rich @ Severns AC!

I highly recommend this company!!!  John came to repair my upstairs A/C.  I found John to be knowledgeable, professional and honest. I believe that he solved the problem efficiently and correctly.   And he is a nice person.

I had just had a competitor out to fix my downstairs unit and they charged me way Too much for a very similar repair.  I am so thankful for the YELP reviews that lead me to find this company.  

Brenda was very helpful and my experience made me feel like my patronage was important and that I would be treated fairly.

Will definitely make sure to call this company for any service they provide.

Scheduling was very easy and the service was top notch. I can't speak more highly of John who took care of potentially huge issues had he not spotted them. He was friendly and knowledgable and explained all the work he was doing and showed me the issues currently wrong with the system. I am sure the work he did will pay for itself in energy savings over the upcoming months and years. Thanks John.

Just a quick note to say that Murrieta Heating and A/C was great. Just what we needed.
Called on Friday of a holiday weekend and they were able to come that day. John did a great job of getting the unit running for the weekend. The compressor needed replacement (No surprise). Rich called and gave me the options with full explanation.
I will use Murrieta A/C again with confidence.

Best service I have ever received.  Rich and his wife arrived at our residence in a timely manner, very nice people.  Rich explained in detail our issue with our AC system and how it occurred. He fixed my problem and provided some tips to keep our system up to par.  The best part of the whole thing, they cared about their customers and it showed. You can trust that they will give you an honest quote and do what they can to fix your problem without taking you to the bank. Thank You Murrieta Air Conditioning!

Being new to Prescott, I've relied heavily on Yelp, so when I saw a lot of good reviews, I gave them a call to help with my 18 year old HVAC units.  Although the height of summer, I knew the units were running too much and just not in good shape.  My initial call was answered immediately, and the appointment set up.  Rich arrived on time and with a courtesy call an hour in advance.  Rather than go straight for the big sale of you need new units, he suggested some new parts and some TLC.  Half day later, he was done.  While it seemed like a lot of money at the time, it was apparent that day how much better the systems were working.  Get this - a week later I went to the APS website to check our daily electric usage.  While the avg. temperature was the same, we are now using about half the energy per day.  You can see the change literally from the day he serviced the units.  Net, the August electric bill is over $100 less than June or July.  Money well spent indeed!  He and his wife are also really nice people btw.  Highly recommend.

This is the only company I will use for my HVAC needs.   On time, honest, professional and affordable.    I am somewhat new to this area so I do not know who the call for home repairs that I cannot do.  Rich is the guy I will call for AC and heater issue ALWAYS.

I had a problem with my ac and really didn't know who to call. Thank God for Yelp and the people who write reviews. So I called Murrieta air conditioning or AKA Severns Air conditioning, so Rich Severns answered the call. He was so nice, courteous and polite. They came in on time and explained what they are gonna do and he did it very swiftly. And the price was very, very resonable. Very professional! HVAC problems? Please call this guy and you will have a very honest and reasonable repairman. Excellent job! I will use their company again any time I will have another ac problem.

Rich came to do a diagnostic on the ac at a home I had just purchased. Once he identified the problem he went through the options I had to correcting the issue. Rich was honest and helpful. We ended up replacing the whole unit and Rich gave us a great deal on the condenser. The unit works great and the house is nice and cool, which is great considering the heat lately. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for an honest technician that won't try to sell you something you don't need and will provide great service.

I would like to offer Rich Severns and his Wife my deepest thanks possible.  Rich came out, on his day off and repaired my Air Condition in minutes.  My Air Conditioning went out early this year and I pointed a finger at him for installing it incorrectly.  The issue had nothing to do with his work.  He came out and helped me even though the warranty had expired long ago.  The problem was a bad capacitor.  I was rude to him and his wife and I sincerely apologize for that.  This company, this man, has an outstanding reputation for a reason, because he is the best at what he does.  If you are looking for an HVAC person, look no further Rich is your guy!

I felt my TRANE combo heat pump with auxiliary natural gas furnace wasn't heating the home properly when in heat mode. Called Prescott air conditioning based on the high reviews here. Rich came out along with an assistant technician. Rich took a look at it and indicated that although it appeared to be working properly, it wasn't quite optimum. He said he can start throwing some parts at it, but that it being TRANE and that a lot of their parts are proprietary, that could get expensive. Rich also mentioned a TRANE specialist could come out and diagnose it with their specialty test equipment, but that could also get pricey. He explained that heat pumps don't work quite as well when it's cold out and that if it was his system, he would just run the furnace since it's on natural gas. I expected a charge for at least his time and trouble, but he said that since he didn't feel like he really did anything, that there was no charge and to just keep him in mind for future service and when I'm ready to have the A/C serviced to ready it for the summer. You can't put a pice on integrity and service like that. I would absolutely use them again and recommend Prescott air conditioning and heating to family and friends.

I would recomend Murrieta AC to anyone out there looking for AC work or service. They have knowledgeable, courteous, and honest staff. John was the technician that came out. He explained and showed us what the issue was. He made our house that was a hot sauna for the past two weeks into a nice cool home. Thanks John your the best

I meant to post a review awhile ago, but never got around to it. I called for service, during a busy time around the holidays at the end of 2013. Received professional service on my HVAC system with a personal touch. Rich came out with his wife to repair my heater. Explained the work before he fixed the problem and fortunately for me it was a quick job. I have recommended Rich to one of my friends and he also received the same professional service. I recommend Rich for all your HVAC needs. I plan on calling Rich for all of my future HVAC repairs.

Wish I could give this more than 5 stars! Called this company after discovering our AC had a leak. (Chose them specifically based on the reviews of others.) This past Friday, they replaced our AC and furnace. I can't say enough about the positive experience! Very professional, very caring, very detail oriented. There was no push for us to buy something bigger and better or spend money on useless accessories. The job was completed in a very reasonable amount of time and the price was very competitive! Rich and Brenda take the time to explain what they are doing and why and answer any questions you may have. They won't sell you something you don't need. From the get-go, they went out of their way to accommodate us. Contact was amazing! Customer service was beyond amazing! (Upon final inspection, even the inspector commented on what a good job they did!) This company operates with the utmost honesty and integrity...two traits that are rare to find in today's society. Highly, highly recommend!

If you are looking for an honest, hard working HVAC guy, you've found it right here with Rich Severns. Our experience with Rich and his wife was top notch!! He was very quick in responding to our phone call and was able to come out the next day. I really appreciated his excellent communication with us throughout the entire process. Once he diagnosed our problem, he explained exactly what we needed and why. He even went as far as to send me photos, while I was at work, showing me the repairs he had made. He is very reasonably priced and never tried to up-sell us on things we didn't need. I will definitely be using Rich from here on out and recommending him to all of my family & friends.

Our A/C unit was 24 years old and way past its life cycle. Rich evaluated the situation and replaced all of the components in a timely manner. Job was expected to take 2 days to complete. He and his wife worked late in the evening to complete the job in one day! He got our system working and cool air flowing in no time. High quality work, honest and dependable. It doesnt get any better than Severns when your A/C isnt working and you need quality repairs.

These folks are the real deal. Diagnosed our problem promptly, replaced the fried circuit board, inspected our furnace and told us our 26 year old unit was solid and had a lot of life left. He didn't try to sell my wife extras or charge us for unneeded services. Rich called me prior to arrival to make sure it was OK to, ahem, actually be EARLY to his scheduled appointment. These folks have all five star reviews for a reason. Thanks!

This past weekend my daughter called us to ask if she could turn the a/c on.  I told my wife I had so I figured the fuse blew.  Upon arriving at home, I checked the a/c fuse and it hadn't tripped.  I checked the main breaker and it was fine.  I was in a panic.  The a/c is dead.  Saturday night and Sunday I was worried about how we're going to pay for new air conditioner.  I had already Yelp'd for asomeone to contact for a/c repair and saw the reviews for Murrieta Air Conditioning.  I'll call them first thing Monday morning.  Monday morning I get up to see what rebates are available for new air conditioning at Socal Edison.  There were some available but only through certain contractors.  I Yelp'd their Platinum service provider for the area and read numerous reviews of the type of service I was trying to avoid.  The thought of spending $4000 - $6000 for a/c right now was not what we wanted since I'm retired and the Mrs is without employ since 2 weeks ago.  I contacted Rich Monday morning and he was as assuring as it can get.  It's usually not the a/c but we'll see...  I'll be there about noon after my 11 appointment.  He arrived exactly as promised and within minutes identified a loose mangled wire under a poor black electrical tape repair (No, I didn't do it!!).  Can you imagine the relief I had.  (No, you really, really can't).  Rich proceeded to check the freon and verify there was no hard start issues and found all was fine.  All done for less then most trip charges with no repair.  This is where you should have your a/c repair work done, hands down!!.  Friendly, fast, professional, reasonably priced and most importantly, service with a conscience.  Thank you, Rich.
