I work in residential home building and know trade costs. My wife and I needed to install several ceiling fans, a few lights, an outlet, and an EV charger. I called Parker & Sons first and after a brief look they gave us a ridiculously high quote ($700+ per ceiling fan ridiculous). This insinuated that our job wasn't worth their time. I found Ion Electrical on Yelp and Paul came over for an estimate. He was extremely thorough, even checking the breaker and patching a frayed wire while he was in there. He gave us an excellent estimate and we immediately scheduled his next available day.

Paul showed up with a helper and they finished everything together on schedule. He even replaced an old loose outlet for free. One of our fans had issues and needed to be returned and Paul had no problem coming back another day to install it.

Everyone we've met has been extremely friendly, my wife and I were super comfortable with them in the house, and he gives prices that I trust. I've already recommended him to my Dad. My wife and I have a list of lighting home improvements we're slowly working through. Once we've ordered everything we'll be calling him to schedule again!

Alex of Ionic Electric and his crew did a great job on upgrading and installing a new and efficient electric panel on our old 1945 house.
He handled and coordinated all of the PG&E permitting and visits, and they did the dirty work of crawling around under the house to set 3 new dedicated circuits. We were out of electricity for maybe an hour tops, and now are ready to enjoy summer without fear of blowing all the fuses! This is a local company and we'd definitely recommend them

I found Ion Electrical Services while searching for a  highly rated local electrician to install a Tesla charging station in our garage. We also needed an inspection and fix of a breaker.

Alex and his crew did an excellent job rewiring my house, changing the sub panel, and upgrading the main panel to 200 amp. Additional work done were the recessed lights being swapped out for LED and additional outlets added throughout the house. Overall, I'm glad that Alex rewired the house because he corrected so many things that were out of code and questionable.

Alex handled the permits and the scheduled all the inspections needed. It was very smooth and pretty much hands off. He was really responsive in answering any questions I had plus he was able to start and finish within the estimated timeline. He also gave advice on new light fixtures and recommended some contractors for other work I needed to do. Overall, it was an excellent experience with great workmanship quality.

Paul did a great job for us. Wired a Ring floodlight camera and repaired garage ceiling lights. We can see what's in our garage for the first time since we bought the house! Reasonable prices--' but most important to me was that if there was a change to his schedule, he kept in touch. Very dependable.

Our hardwired smoke detector went off in the middle of the night. As you can imagine nothing more annoying. Called ion this morning and spoke with Paul. He was out within 90 minutes and replaced not only the faulty smoke detector but also an additional smoke detector in our house. I would highly recommend

Alex was spectacular to work with. He helped us re-wire our 1944 home and installed a new electrical panel for us. Our old panel was a Federal Pacific panel (known for causing house fires, per our home inspector).

Alex worked closely with our county inspectors as well as PG&E to bring our home up to code. It was a long process to get PG&E to come out to our property, but Alex helped us do all the communicating and saved us from that headache. As we neared final inspection, Alex came out promptly to fix a minor issue pointed out by the inspector and we were signed off the following day. Unlike PG&E and the inspector(s), Alex actually showed up when he said he would, haha ;). He's an excellent professional to work with.

My home is now beautifully lit and in code-approved standards. I'm excited to enjoy my home and live with the peace of mind that comes with good electrical work! If you need a smart electrician with clean work, Alex is your guy.

Paul and Mario did an excellent job installing recessed can lighting in our townhome. Was very pleased with how Paul promptly communicated by phone and text to schedule us in when we contracted him to do the installation.

Paul gave us his excellent professional advice on how many lights we needed along with the recommended light sizes for each room. He also advised on proper placement of lights to avoid shadowing. Since I'm no lighting expert, his advice was a spot on and the finished installation looks great! We are no longer in the dark!

Just FYI, with ceiling areas that don't have attic access, Paul will have to cut access holes to run/pull romex wire between the beams/rafters. This is common practice. This makes up for a lot of holes in your ceiling that will need to be patched and painted by a drywall pro. Paul informed me that he sub contracts another person to patch and paint.

Overall we are very pleased with Paul's work and would definitely use him without any hesitation for any of our electrical needs. His pricing is fair and competitive for a licensed electrical contractor.

I wanted to install extra ceiling lights and add a few extra outlets in the garage. Tried to reach out to a few electricians on Yelp. They are either fully booked or slow in response. So I decided to have a second try for a different batch of electricians. Within an hour of  sending out quote request, I received a reply from Paul and he asked me to send a few pics of my garage. And the. We went back and forth on a few details. He gave me a 2 day window and told me that he would confirm with me the final date after he finishes work with his current client. Got a call one this Tuesday from Paul and he would come to work on my garage on Wednesday. While he was sorting out the wires, he pointed out that our circuit break panel was too old and suggested that we replace it if we wanted to add extra appliances in the future. He talked to his next customer and get permission to squeeze my panel update for an extra day. By the end of Thursday, I had a new panel with all the lights and extra outlets working! Given it is close to Christmas, I really appreciate that Paul was able to get things done so quickly. What I like about Paul: clear communication (no hidden charges, no surprise); punctuality; being open about different options and costs.

5/5 service. I hired Paul for a job that entailed adding recessed lighting in two bedrooms, installation of dimmers, adding outlets, and swapping out an old bathroom fan and duct.

First of all, I reached out to 6 local companies for quotes. Paul was the only one that replied back quickly by text and gave a straight up quote. The others were either unresponsive or made me jump through multiple hoops to get quotes. (It's almost like some of these electricians don't want business...)

One pricing, Ion was very competitive. Not at the high end of pricing, but not at the low end either. Everything was standard and itemized. Transactions were all digital and everything was clearly explained.

On the day of the job, Paul and 2-3 of his assistants came. They tarped everything and got it all done in about 4 hours. They cleaned everything up afterwards.

Alex of Ion Electrical Services Inc, installed a dedicated circuit, and a breaker at the main panel for a point of use water heater we are installing under the kitchen sink.  Alex was very professional and competent.  He was always on time and returned emails on a timely fashion.  He was easy to work with, and I feel the price of the work was reasonable. Alex and his helper (I think his name is Evan), did an amazing job on replacing our ancient 1946 fuse box with a new 200 amp panel. He obtained all the necessary permits, PGE applications/phone calls and city inspections, very quick to follow up and answered every silly question I had about the process. I was only without power for about 2 hours and he made the process so seamless and stress free for me. My house is split level and on a hill so PGE required that the working surface be flat, I offered to flatten it but he said just to get him a shovel and they will do it! Evan flattened the ground very nicely. Their work is very neat and clean and they were very nice and professional. They installed 2 grounds, one next to the panel and one at the main water shut off and got rid of my old panel. I am overall very pleased with my service and would recommend Ion Electrical to my friends and family.

I had a very old electrical wiring system in the garage. I needed to upgrade an old school fuse box, wiring, and new dedicated outlets for washer and dryer. I reached out to Ion Electrical and Paul was quick to respond. The communication was very good. He always responded and always arrived on time. He is very knowledgeable on the topic. He gave me great ideas on what would be the best approach for this job and anything I might need in the future. On the day of the job, he showed up with an assistant and began working. Job took most of the day. They installed a sub panel, did rewiring and added needed outlets in the garage. Throughout the day Paul showed me the different steps taken for this work. Besides the electrical they also put in the insulation and some sheetrock in the section they were working on. He offered a generator while they were working if I wanted. They disposed of all the old electrical junk I had. The electrical work was nice and neat. They cleaned up after themselves.

If you need a great electrician at a great price, call Paul at Ion Electrical Services.  I thought I needed a circuit breaker to be replace, so I called Ion Services.  Paul was here the same day in a few hours.  Not only did he do a through inspection, he discovered a faulty outlet and broken wire, which could have been big trouble down the road.  Before repair work was done, Paul explained and walked me through the problem and the solution.  We agreed upon the price and he did a few extra's like chalking around an outlet and added some additional hardware, at no cost.  There are no hidden fees with Ion Services.  Paul is friendly, Professional and very knowledgeable.

They moved 220V into our garage, put undercounter lighting in kitchen Even in a hard spot that previous electrician said was impossible) and they wired up two outside fountains. They performed their work efficiently, professionally, cleanly and quietly. They made sure they worked inside before outside, wearing shoe covers in house. If I could find subcontractors in all trades that were as good as ION Electrical I would build a new house : )

Alex has completed multiple jobs for us in Piedmont and has done a great job at a reasonable price. He has helped us with interior lighting and also installed a new electric car charger to our garage, which was not easy with an 80 year old home. I highly recommend Alex from Ion Electric.  He was very efficient and proficient in both his estimate and the actual work.  Alex replaced a high number of outlets inside the house, added new weather proof outlets in the backyard, installed and replaced light fixtures, added new lights in the attic, and all while being careful to not harm the old lathe and plaster walls.  In fact he was very clean and worked very fast.  It was hard to believe he did so much work, licensed work too, and for a very reasonable price.  It was far less than other quotes.  I'll be calling you again Alex!

I called Alex after trying to change out a ceiling fan and discovering that the previous owner had wired it with what Alex told me was a thermostat wire. Even though he had planned to have the day off, he made time to come out to my house the same afternoon, fixed the mess that the previous owner had made, and had the new ceiling fan installed solidly and working in about two hours. Highly recommended!

I met Alex when he was doing work for other owners in my condo building, which is a high rise near Lake Merritt in Oakland.  He is well known in the building, because of his excellent work.  The building management has many rules; and Alex knew how to adjust to them all; and also how to deal with unusual studs and other wiring in the building -- he's very flexible and imaginative.    I needed under-cabinet lighting for my kitchen.   I also needed unusual rewiring at my windows in order to install power shades.  Alex gave me very reasonable estimates, for both projects.  Very important to know about Alex is that he very thoroughly analyzes an electrical situation and works with other contractors seamlessly -- even when multiple visits are required.  He also noticed other lighting needs that would be useful for my home.  My wife and I are getting on in years and need better lighting throughout our home; and Alex was very empathetic with these needs and imaginative about finding solutions.   In this respect, I would say that he provides lighting design expertise in addition to being a master electrician.  Also, his prices are very reasonable. Because of his superior expertise and high quality workmanship and multi-service approach, he could charge more; but he remains reasonably priced as part of his service attitude.
