HISTORY
Established in 2003.
Originally established in Minnesota in 2001. Fixing Spaces held a number of different licenses in Minnesota. When the economy took a downturn, Fixing Spaces went on hiatus for a few years. After moving to Arizona in 2017 with a corporate position, I found I was not happy. In November of 2018 I decided to re-open the business that I have a passion for. Fixing Spaces has always been about the customer interaction and making sure they are 100% satisfied.
ABOUT BUSINESS OWNER
I started in construction industry in October of 1990 working for a plumbing and HVAC company. I have run and trained HVAC service and installation crews. I supervised a window and door installation crew. I held the following licenses: Minnesota Builders license, Minnesota Special Boiler operators license, Minneapolis Master Gas license, HVAC universal refrigerant EPA certification, Lead abatement and numerous other certifications. I have a strong passion for what I do. I will often discuss with people their project and give them a more cost effective route when possible.

Absolutely worthless. I messaged this company the end of May to get an estimate. He was scheduling to come out June 9, I texted that day to confirm a time which then he informed me he was sick. I asked to reschedule- waited 9 days to hear back and nothing until I sent a text telling him I was going to put my experience on Yelp. Get this! He was available the SAME day to look at the project and give me an estimate. That is just Amazing!
Edit- It's funny how fast he can respond to reviews but not to reschedule appointments. Now I understand the other reviews that had the same problems with no follow through.
Called, texted, and emailed.
Got a text response stating he will get to the email to response.
Then got an email asking for my name and phone number for estimate.
Thats it.
No response after that.
Ive waited for 5 days.
Nothing. Decided to go with Ace handyman services. Who called, emailed, and scheduled me on the same day!

Shawn is professional, efficient and friendly. We've requested to replace the kitchen hood, the kitchen sink faucet and the tub spout to stop a leak. We have been happy with the results every time and would highly recommend him!
Got a response quickly at first, then he went silent on me. Called, texted, emailed, communicated thru Yelp. No response for several weeks. Just heard from him that my request got 'lost in the shuffle.'
I have found another provider to help me on my project.
Shawn was very responsive to me while planning the project (hanging curtains). He showed up on time, asked questions to be sure he knew how we wanted the curtain rods, and went right to work. He was very nice and professional, he even offered a small treat to our small dog to win her over.
Our curtains look great! I highly recommend Shawn and I know we'll be working with him again the next time we need help with a project.

The service was great. They are easy to deal with, responsive and know what they are doing. They adjusted our huge front door, realigned the sill and not only does the door close correctly now, but they eliminated the small gap around the weatherstripping. All for a reasonable price (unlike other quotes I was offered). I couldn't be more pleased.

Thank you to Shawn the owner, responded immediately late on Sunday night, understood exactly what I needed, came to our home to ensure he would have all the additional products to install our tile, he showed up on time, was exceptionally clean when he finished, he added tile in my master bathroom and it's looks better than original. Quick service at a fair price. Very happy with the 2 bathtub repairs Shawn did. The 1st repaid was replacing a drain plug in our guest bathroom & the 2 repair was fixing the hot water in the main bathroom.
Hired Shawn to put up a few large paintings, curtain rods, and to set up my delicate TV stand. He also help me mount my 75 inch on the stand. I could've done this myself, but I almost always end up damaging something. Always. Every home ive ever left required a fix-up...so I needed a pro to handle this. He came on time, and executed the job perfectly. Everything was done with precision. Will definitely be my go-to handy man now on.

Shawn the owner of the company came out and did our work. He quoted me a really reasonable price. Super affordable! Other handyman quoted me prices 2 to 3 times more. The work was amazing. We had to install a new dog door. The old dog door was falling apart and really old. Shawn was super confident and always super helpful. I asked lots of questions during the process and he always was super open about the process and helpful with all his answers.. I was so worried that something might go wrong or it wouldn't turn out the way I thought it was going to turn out because it was in our wall leading outside. But Sean tackled it and did an amazing job. Already looking forward to him coming out and doing more jobs for us whenever we need anything. Highly recommended!

Shawn was a lifesaver for a small bathroom renovation gone wrong! I tried to save a few bucks and hired cheap labor and it turns out I got what I paid for. Shawn to the rescue! He not only fixed all the major mistakes and botched work of the previous hire, he did it with a sense of humor and great attention to detail. My project included paint, drywall repair, texture, replacement faucet fixtures/shower fixtures, hardware, lighting and switch replacement. He worked diligently and completed the job in a day. I would use Fixing Spaces for any future projects in a heartbeat!

I am so glad I found Shawn's company. I had him come out on two different occasions. He was able to help with everything from electrical, installing outside lights and replaced two sinks for me. Shawn showed up when scheduled. He put down drop cloths as he worked to assemble a wall bed kit I purchased. The finished product is wonderful and It am having him return for more jobs I need completed,
Shawn was great. Really happy I read his reviews and he was available. As with all handymen nowadays, they're pretty busy. I will say if you start messaging with Shawn and he can't get to your project(s) for a couple of days due to being busy - it's worth the wait. If it's not time sensitive/an emergency, you'd be best served to just wait the extra day or two (or three) to have Shawn do the work for you. He showed up and got right to work - fixed a leaking tub faucet, replaced the tub train stopper and cleared the drains on two sinks in about an hour. Nice guy. Give him a call.
Had a few projects to get done & based on the reviews here, I called this company twice. 1st time in late November, no answer & no call back. Same thing with another local handyman. Ended having Home Depot provide the work. Had another project come up recently & thought I would try this company again. Once again no answer and no callback. Cant comment on work quality but apparently he needs to hire someone to answer calls for him.
Great honest work. Will do business with him again. Gave me additional bids for my other projects.
We had our garbage disposal start leaking so I used Yelp hoping to find someone reasonable and good to replace it. We found Fixing Spacing, he is professional, reasonable and I highly recommend him!! I asked about different jobs he can do, he said I could call him and if there is something he does not do, he'll refer me to someone who can.

Shawn arrived on time, was friendly and got right to work. He knew exactly what he needed to bring before he arrived, installed new weather stripping on all of my 4 doors and viola, no more sunlight coming through which hopefully means no more scorpions coming through.

I was skeptical about all the "5 star" reviews, and now here I am writing one. Shawn responded quickly and returned all my emails in a timely manner. He arrived on time and was ready to work. He's incredibly professional and his work is excellent. I had him install a dishwasher, replace an RO unit, rebuild floor of cabinet (destroyed by previous RO unit) and repair 2 doors. He brought all the necessary tools and equipment and cleaned up after. I jokingly told him I didn't want to review him (if it makes it harder to book him), but his work deserves the credit. I have no reservations recommending his services. Will definitely seek his help in the future.

Moved into my new home and needed some shower doors removed and holes filled. Shawn showed up and took care of it like a champ. He even took the doors and tracks outside ready for pick up for me to sell. Will be reaching out to Shawn for other misc jobs. Highly recommend.
Shawn did a great job creating a new kitchen drawer for us. He kept the drawer front and built a new sturdy drawer to replace ours, which was completely broken at the joints and un-fixable. Shawn also installed new, sturdy glides and made sure they were installed with extra support boards. Looks and works better than new.
And when I asked him for help on another small project, he pointed out an easy fix that I could do myself.
I would hire him again for other jobs, and plan to.

Shawn responded to my request very quickly and was very timely and professional.
The day before, I'd had some painting done and the painters didn't know how to hook the tv back up. I wasn't able to do it either because the tv is mounted on the wall and there was no way to do it without taking the tv down.
Not only did Shawn remove the tv from the wall and help hook it back up, he also painted the rest of the wall behind the tv and programmed my remote so that I don't have to use two different ones anymore.

He did a fantastic job with several repairs at our house, ranging from a drywall repair in our ceiling, closet door tracking systems that were previously installed incorrectly, and more. You can tell he strives for excellence and is incredibly precise, which shows up in his high quality work. In addition, he's very friendly, wasn't afraid of our German Shepherd who was a bit barky when he first arrived, and he had come by prior to scheduling to check out the repairs that needed to be done and provided us a detailed quote in advance. My wife and I just moved to Chandler and, through some extensive research, found Shawn and Fixing Spaces. He has been amazing throughout our entire and very long list of requests. From installing baseboards, to light fixtures, Shawn is a perfectionist at every turn. He found faulty wiring and fixed it. He suggested refining our baseboard look by adding special corner pieces which look absolutely gorgeous and truly bring out the beauty of the wood. Our ceiling fan was 19' high and he brought in his own scaffolding and replaced it. Shawn takes so much pride in his work and it shows. We are thrilled with his work and are extremely lucky we found him. We would highly recommend Shawn and Fixing Spaces to anyone!
I'm so happy I found Shawn of Fixing Spaces! This guy knows his stuff. We originally had him out to hang some pictures and mirrors, but he works so fast and well that we looked around and found other things for him to do. He adjusted a few of our doors that were wonky and caulked around a bathroom sink that the original installer made a mess of. Shawn is super professional, bringing drop cloths to put his tools on to protect your floors and furniture. And I love that he's a perfectionist who believes things should be done right instead of the easy way. I was happy that he brings a lot of supplies on his truck so he's fully prepared to work. He answered a lot of our questions and made suggestions for things he could do on future visits to improve our home. He even gave us advice about taking care of our a/c units! If you've got a long to-do list, don't put off calling Shawn of Fixing Spaces because he's the best!

Contacted FS to move to hanging lights in a house we just moved into to center them over the pool table and kitchen area. Shawn came out, gave a detailed explanation of what would need to be done, provided me with different price options depending on what he saw once he opened up the ceiling. Very thorough. Shawn quoted a fair price before he did the job, and the price charged was actually less than what he quoted. We had some drywall damage from a faulty window install on 2 downstairs windows from Home Depot (don't get me started on that _ _ it sandwich). We selected Fixing Spaces Handyman from Yelp. Shawn Godfrey came out and gave us an estimate for repairs 2 days after I called him. We got two other estimates for Home Depot's insurance carrier, all were within $50 of each other. We selected Fixing Spaces because of their professionalism, on time arrival, and referrals from Yelp. Shawn did an excellent job, arrived on time, didn't disrupt our daily routine, and thoroughly cleaned up afterwards. We picked wisely.
Highly recommended! Shawn gave me an immediate and reasonable quote, showed up on time and did a high quality installation (handicap shower bars in tile shower). He prioritized our job because of a medical need. In addition, he thoroughly cleaned up after the job was complete. Shawn is very personable and friendly. We will definitely call on Shawn again for handyman services!
We came home late afternoon to a ceiling water leak. Shawn answered our phone call immediately, and was out to our home super promptly. Excellent service. Showed up on time, actually even a little early. Took care of mounting an outdoor tv and hid the wiring behind the tv as well. A lot of handyman will not even bother with a small job, but Shawn came by within 48 hours of contacting him. Reasonably priced too. I will definitely use him again!

Hired to complete several tasks (replace kitchen sink faucet, toilet shut-off valve and vent fan). Work was completed as expected given the timing and price estimate. However halfway through found him looking through personal items not related to the services requested. Quality of work met expectations, but will not be hiring in the future.

Shawn responded promptly to my request for a quote. He arrived at the time he said he would for an estimate. Shawn took notes/pictures and was willing to tackle just about any little fixing item that I threw at him - replace doggie door, fix all of the shutters, repair a large blind, redo caulking around toilets, fix the shower door etc.) Shawn sent me a very competitive quote (I requested a couple of quotes and he was the best priced). He scheduled me in and arrived at the exact time he said he would. It took a few hours to do all the repairs and even sent me pictures to review/confirm work, as I was at the office. When I got home I reviewed all work and was very pleased with the quality and cleanup. I will be definitely reaching back out to Shawn for future repairs.
