We've lived in Fountain Hills since 1993 and have experienced four different AC companies over that time. I know a fair amount about AC/Heating so we tossed the rest and only use Mike Jones at Discount Air.

Fast response, honest, reasonable pricing. Not a rip and replace company, Discount will repair even 20 yr old systems if it makes sense.

Truly disappointing experience with Discount Air.  We've had no heat in our home over a month now.  They came out and diagnosed our unit.  The parts are under warranty which we confirmed with the Manufacturer Ruud. They told me the parts house was telling them otherwise I called Ruud to confirm and cascaded that to them.  They were supposed to come out to our home on a Monday canceled day of.  Rescheduled for Friday and told upon getting here parts are not under warranty called ruud again they confirmed they are the tech just needs to submit a claim.  The owner won't take my calls and son is incredibly rude

Soooo, yeah... Here goes my 2 experiences within a 9-year period in my FH home (haven't moved).

Let me first provide a quick overview of a little history background to paint a better picture - bear with me on this.

Air conditioner died a few years after I bought my Fountain Hills home (2011) in late summer September 2013 suddenly. Ok, that was a pretty shitty day because of circumstances, right? I called Discount Air Care and decided to work with them due to quote, timeframe and being local business.

Mike Jones did a great job as he assessed my unit was truly unrepairable so hauled it away, as well as installed a new AC unit along with other necessary steps. My bill for everything was $4,200.00 back on 9/2013. This also included a 10-year parts warranty as well as 1-year labor warranty. More than fair, I felt back then!!

Fast forward to May 18, 2022. Weather getting toastier and AC decides it doesn't want to deliver frosty air in my home (only warm air!). My BF, dad and myself do our best to troubleshoot but no success. The belt on outside unit was running fine and had sufficient power but wasn't converting cool air properly.

Called/emailed that day and procured a technician to come out following day 5/19. Great! I also let them know I was still under the 10-yr parts warranty and provided dates/invoice.

Packed up cat/boyfriend that night to shack up at his (cool) house and asked dad to meet technician following day since he's also retired in FH. No problem!

No major issues were found; just bad capacitor on the unit condenser. Fixed and was done quickly. Charged $310.00. Asked about being under the parts warranty to help out with bill and was told essentially that it was my fault for not changing air filters more frequently and wouldn't be covered. What?!? Total bullshit, in my opinion.

I guess I'm grateful that it wasn't anything more serious and costly, but it's the sheer principle of refusing to honor a client being under a 'true' warranty (I kept a copy of the entire document). Didn't appreciate outright refusal and being lectured on changing filters at least 1x/month, plus an annual on-site visit from them for a health check. Psshhh - whatever.

Note: if you pay w credit card, they mark up by 3%. I asked how else I could pay bill in avoiding this little charge. Was told I could mail a check or drop a check at the office. Okayyyy, haven't written a check in several years but ok- will write check and deliver in person. I don't trust mail service anymore with stuff like this. Went to try and deliver but address put me at the UPS Store by Safeway?! Apparently, they don't even have an office but receive their mail at UPS so it was delivered finally. Why didn't he mention this on the phone? Haha - very odd and unprofessional.

Time for a new AC vendor in the future...

Beware! I used this company discount air out of fountain hills to install a whole entire new air conditioning system in winter 2021-2022. Mike the owner was out of town at the time but his son and a couple other young guys did the job. It was very expensive and it only took the group of guy like 2 hours max to complete the job. Fast forward to June 2022 the condenser stopped working so I called mike. He said turn the unit off and I will have a tech out between 1-3 pm . Nobody ever showed so I tried to call Mike two more times after 3 pm. No answer and no return phone call! Unbelievable! I will never use this company discount air ever again ! What horrible customer service! Shame on mike and discount air! Horrible !!!

Fast, friendly, professional family owned & operated HVAC service. My old AC unit went out in high-season summer heat wave and they had a new unit installed with cool air flowing in a jiffy!

These guys are hard sell and all talk. They sold and installed a brand new American Standard heat pump for $8500 in May at my home in Rio Verde. They never verified whether the heat worked or not. When I needed heat this winter, I discovered the unit they installed does not work. They do not stock the part for the unit and evidently cannot get one to replace it. Conlan tells me there is no ETA on getting the replacement part and offers no help other than offering me the phone number for American Standard. I am out of luck. I do not recommend these guys. Go to a reputable company.

I've just had a new HVAC system put in my house and I feel like I was treated fairly and honestly.  They arrived on time for both the estimate and the install and were knowledgable, friendly and did an excellent job.  I've used Discount Air Care in the past for maintenance calls at my rental property and my home and will continue to do so in the future.  I definitely recommend Mike, Konlin and their team.

I used Discount Air since they have many positive reviews on my Neighborhood website. I tried Costco and Home Depot, but backed out when I discovered they both use Parker and Sons which has many negative reviews online. I also did not want to pay for all the commercials they have on T.V. Why do they have to advertise so much?
I got a good price, and they had a large crew who completed the job on a hot day in a few hours. I have an additional unit that is still running, but plan on using them again when the system fails. I am so glad this family run company exists in town. Thanks Discount Air! I wasn't ripped off.

Our A/C system died after 17 years and had to replace it.  I got 5 estimates and not only was Discount Air Care the least expensive,(by 30%) they could replace my system the soonest.  They showed up on time, on Saturday Morning, (no extra charge) with a full crew ready to go.  By 10:30 in the morning I had a new system.  The technicians, Conklin and Bob took the time to educate me on setting the thermostat and explaining on how this new variable speed system worked.   KUDO's To Mike Jones and HIS EXCELLENT CREW.  They are attentive, very well priced, professional and nice.  All you could ask for in an A./C. company.  no surprises, billed as quoted, no extra's..

I've used their services for a few years now and they've always been on time and reasonable. One of my AC units died in May and he was there in a couple days with a new unit and had the job done in 3 hours or a little less. The new unit works great and my first electric bill with a full month on it was cheaper, maybe 30-40 dollars. Great people to deal with, polite, customer oriented and punctual.

As good as it gets, they are straight shooters and the price is fair. I had to have my air-conditioning replaced and I was pricing it all over the place at super discount type companies. They all had a laundry list of extras that are not included at that price and they were using the cheapest equipment possible. Discount air care did it at a similar price, used some of the best equipment available, and their estimate was exactly my final cost. No extras, no surprises, works perfect, great communication, I can't say enough good things about these guys. Mike Jones, the owner, is awesome.

My experience is the complete opposite of either here.  Recently sold home and bought condo in Fountain HIlls.  Condo has original Trane XE1000 split unit.  AC still working but called Discount Air for maintenance and estimate to replace.  Not a matter of if but when.  The son came out and provided an estimate which seemed fair.  However, after looking at the units, I was told it was not heat capable.   Outside AC unit was air compressor only and no heat strips in heater.  Say what?   Called the home inspector who had his AC guy come out.  Switch behind thermostat needed to be flipped and panel in split system in attic needed to be opened and heater turned on.  Worse thing was that I emailed the company about this and absolutely no reply.  While I have read nothing but good things about this local company, I would not use them again.

Be careful with these guys!!!! Their drivers will try to run you off the road. One of them got angry with my wife, and pulled into her twice after he didn't like how she merged on a local road. As she went on up the road, he swerved into her (twice) to keep her from passing him. He didn't like that she was taking his picture. Pretty low behavior. I will remember this and advise people to AVOID this business.

Mike and his partner did show up on time and did get my AC working again. I thought he overcharged for the parts. He used two Capacitors to replace one that was bad. I paid $560 and they did not even clean the unit, did not even take out the leaves that had built up let alone clean the unit itself. Five weeks later it went out again and when I called him, he didn't even offer to come and look at it. Fortunately, I had bought a home service warranty so I wound not overpay again.
