Description

In one week, my 20 year old water heater started leaking and the compressor on my 8 year old ac unit died. I only moved into my house a little over a year ago, and was looking forward to having a dual cooling home, but it never panned out. When we got in the house, the neither the AC nor the evap was needed to be on and we only tested that they both worked. But as it turned out that despite the AC working, the vent that is supposed to close at the evap connection got stuck open somehow, and so the AC unit never was able to cool 3/4 of my house. The first summer here was pretty rough, and the electric bill was astounding.

Do not use for AC work.   This company has been so unprofessional and a nightmare to work with.  Our AC compressor unit died.  We had used the company before for plumbing work and were impressed, so we called them.  They showed up several hours late for the appointment and installed the new ac compressor.  Problem was is the techs couldn't figure out how to get it to work.  They left my house at 7pm and left me with no AC.  The next day all 3 techs come back out and figure it out in 10 minutes. Someone clearly screwed up/  Fast forward a month.  They are supposed to come out to check the unit to make sure it is working correct.  I make an appointment for 2pm.  At 5pm I call the office and ask where they are.  Tech got tied up but is on his way.  We finally hear at 7pm he can't make it but will be there between noon and 2pm the next day.  Once again we get stood up.  We call about 4 hours after the appointment and ask where he is.  No answer and no messages.  I then called the main company and left an irate message and asked that the manager call me back.  They never call me back.  1 week after this the brand new unit quits working on a Sunday.  We have to then wait to the middle on Monday to find out that it a 5 pounds low on freon and the tech wanted to charge us for the freon. They thankfully changed their minds on charging.  There were no leaks detected so this means that the original installers screwed up.  Had the company actually came out when they were suposed to this issue would have been caught and I wouldnt have had to miss more time off from work.   Do not use this company for HVAC!!!

My only issue is Arico's policy of charging for the time required to fetch a part not in the truck.

I am very dissatisfied at the moment. I spent over $500.00 5 days ago to have my plumbing snaked, a disposal replaced, and a new water pump in one of my toilets.
This evening as I was getting ready for bed, I heard my hall bathroom bubbling and then water running profusely. I went to see what it was and water was running into the hallway. Blackwater. A previous plumber had told me to uncap the cleanout trap to relieve pressure and when I did that all of the toilets and showers were relieved of the black water they were holding. This just tells me that the snake job did not unclog what it was supposed.
The plumber who came a few days before seemed to be in a hurry. In the past, plumbers ran water to see if everything was flowing.
I'm very upset and dissatisfied. I don't have more money to fork out for his errors, so am calling the company first thing in the am.

Angel from Arico just did a great job repairing our water heater and was extremely pleasant to deal with.
I'd also like to note that we have used Arico for plumbing jobs in the past and have been pleased with their promptness, courtesy, and quality of work.

My wife and I regularly get our plumbing done by Arco Plumbing. Somehow, the last time a problem came up, she ended up calling Arico Plumbing instead. These are not the same people at all. We've had some issues with our dishwasher line clogging a couple times before. The dishwasher itself is fine, it's just a tube connecting it to the drain. I've had Arco come out to fix it more than once. Arico on the other hand, they didn't fix it, and they still charged me more than Arco. The guy they sent out was nice enough, but I guess Arico has a policy of charging you just to send a guy out, even if it's only to tell you Yeah, we're not going to do anything here.

I called up to complain, but never got a response back from them. I really couldn't recommend this company to anyone. I'm giving them 2 stars for being expensive and useless, while still staying above the level of the worst contractors I've ever encountered.

I think I got stuck with a bad tech guy.  He had to make 5 trips back to his van to get basic tools(one trip back was for a phillips screwdriver).  To fix a problem in the shower handle, he first thought it was the cartridge, so he made a trip out to First/Grant for that part.  When he got back, he looked at it further and decided the problem lay in the pressure feed valve so he said he would have to make another trip to First/Grant for that part(If he'd been a little more patient with his work, he could have realized the problem lay in the valve and not the cartridge--thus saving him a trip and getting the correct part the first time).  The entire time, he seemed rushed with getting the job done.  Not having the proper tools with him added to the drama of the whole event.  He spoke quickly and in not very good English--so this leads me to believe he had little education.  Well the price to fix kept going up from $150 to $200 to $250.  These prices seemed to come off the top of his head.   When it got to $250, I asked to see the receipt for the pressure relief valve so I could know how much he was marking up materials cost.  He got snippy and said he wouldn't do that.  So at this point I knew he was gouging me and I wasn't going to let it happen.  So I told him to put the shower handle back together.  We did not part on good terms.  Problem never got fixed due to contractor price gouging.  Total lack of professionalism from a company that's been in business for a long time in Tucson.  They also advertise on TV.  To their credit, they did not charge me a service fee which I was expecting.  I will not use again, though.

they have been here before to replace a water filter.  this time they failed to tell me on the phone  that they now have a 2 hr minimum so they now charge 2 hrs labor even if they are only there for 20 minutes!!  that would have been good to know before hand as I would not have used them.  so they call me the day of the apt and say they are running early.
(they have charged the last person for 2 hrs too and were not there that long! so he is here for 20 min and charges for 2 hrs!!  I should have had him stay for 2 hrs. he was a nice young man but their billing is terrible.  I called office and spoke to mgr. he was no help so I asked owner to call me.  never happened.
will never use this company again.  but I am sure they are raking in the $--charging for 2 hrs, rarely putting in that time and going on the the next 2 hr charge.
never again!

I've used ARICO for many jobs at my home and several condos that we manage. AC and plumbing issues. Totally satisfied every time. Liked all the techs and the price has been fair every time. It seems like we've had a different experience than the previous reviews. Maybe it has to do with the techs picked for each job but our experiences have all been positive.

We contacted ARICO to have our main line snaked because our showers and laundry were draining slowly and we knew there was a backup. The technician came and snaked, but left us with all drains unusable, and an estimate for installing a clean out. He told us to find a sewer line locator before he could continue and would make no recommendations. We were left with no useable toilets, sinks, showers, etc.. The toilets were full of water and could not even be flushed because they would flow over. My husband and I had to do all of the research to find out that we needed to get a map from Wastewater Management, and that most modern plumbers have a snake with a sensor that will locate your sewer line. After much stress and duress, we were charged $189 for the work, and had to have another plumber come and fix the problem. This was done expediently and efficiently by the other plumber. When I called to express my concern the manager of ARICO did not return my call. I waited 48 hours and reached him when I called again. He was reluctant to own the problem and did finally acknowledge the communication issue. He told me that he had contacted wastewater management, which completely surprised me because we were told nothing about this. (WWM told me that they would send ARICO a copy of my request)

ARICO never acknowledged that they were not properly equipped to do the work, and left us with a mess. I asked for a partial refund as compensation and was told that the manager had no authority for this, but would pass along my concerns. Usually when people have to call a plumber, it is because a problem needs to be solved asap. I would not describe my experience with their problem solving as satisfactory in any way, and I would not be able to recommend this company with any confidence.

I am so impressed with the service from this company!!  I called many HVAC and plumbing companies in Tucson and these people really are the best, in my opinion.  Steve, who is awesome, came out right away and gave me an estimate - which was great - and had the work done with no up charges after the estimate.  He explained the process and kept me in the loop through the whole installation. Completely knowledgeable, he walked me through everything - never had such great customer service!  A house I just bought had polybutyl piping that had to be replaced and the AC was trashed.  Steve lined up the whole project and executed it on time and on budget!   I can't say enough about Steve because he has integrity, knowledge and customer service that can't be beat. You don't see this kind of service so much anymore these days - no headaches, just the best service!  I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend Arico Plumbing / HVAC and Steve!

We were having trouble with water pressure in our home. Dustin Maples was sent out and came up with the solution in about 10 minutes. Our 17 year old water softener was the culprit. Dustin did some research on costs and benefits of a new system and explained it to us in layman's terms. He promptly and professionally installed the new system at a reasonable price. Thanks Arico and thanks Dustin.

I have had good service with Arico for the past 20 years. They have installed a water heater and a faucet; removed a calcium deposit from a line under my sink; installed a PRV at my main water line and did a repair to the pipe that goes to my shower head.

They have always showed up on time and charge a fair price.

Do NOT use these guys for AC or heating issues!

The tech who showed up was either incompetent or just trying to rip me off.  He spent hours at my house trying to figure out what was wrong but couldn't.  He told me several times I just had to buy a new unit for 1000's of dollars and of course they would sell it to me.  Even the people in my house got a weird vibe from him and told me they thought he was just trying to rip me off and make an expensive sale.

After spending about 3 hours looking at it with no idea what was wrong, we realized that the reason my unit wasn't working well was because the air filter was too clogged...

Changed the air filter and unit worked fine.  They still charged me more than $300 just to tell me that the air filter needed to be replaced.  It seriously took the guy more than 3 hours to figure that out...

When I complained to the manager, he seemed perfectly fine with the fact that the tech had tried to sell me a brand new unit for 1000's of dollars even when it wasn't necessary at all-- apparently this is what they are supposed to do; try to get customers to buy new units.

At least I didn't buy an unnecessary new unit for 1000's of dollars.  Because of such a negative experience I won't hire these guys again.

I can't speak to the experiences of the previous two reviewers, but I had an very good experience with Arico for both AC and Plumbing.

Needing entirely new units, Arico was fantastic on their professionalism, willingness to problem-solve, and pricing. It was a pleasure working with them, and their workers were diligent, kind, and applied themselves.

That is not to say there were not a few small hiccups in the process, however, that I do not really blame Arico for. First, apparently the gas line to my house is really stupid, because it has an on position and an off position. The water heater was installed a day before the AC unit, and when the the guy who installed the water heater left, everything was working. But they had to turn the line off again to hook it to the AC's heating element. That tech turned the unit to on when he left, but apparently at my house, off means off, and on means off...but the area between off and on is where the gas is actually on. The water heater stopped working, and I couldnt figure out why I couldnt re-light the pilot. A tech had to come out and help.

Also, the AC unit, once installed, worked beautifully and for the first time I had cold air  flowing through my entire home...until some point in the middle of the night when the unit shut off. I was able to reset the unit, and it would cool the house again, but for some reason every night, the thing would stop working and cease to follow the set program. A week and several tech home visits later, I think both the tech and myself were unbelievably frustrated with this. After running an extremely in-depth diagnostics and speaking to the manufacturer, it was discovered that the unit model had this problem regularly and it was caused by a malfunctioning, however erroneous, safeguard switch. The company recommended wiring around the faulty switch, which the tech did, and my unit has been working flawlessly ever since.

So was the entire process completely painless? No, but I can't really blame Arico for the hang-ups that did occur. And thankfully, they were quick to resolve the issues. Having these two major appliances go out at the same time was not cheap to repair, but I did quite a lot of research on my own and Arico did very well by me on the pricing. Also, I want to give a shout out especially to Kenny the plumber, who was particularly good at his job. I would definitely use this company again in the future.

DO NOT GO WITH ARICO!

We had someone come out to our house last year from Arico and the guy told us the entire air conditioner had to be replaced, including part of the ductwork in the attic!!!!  Gave us some story about the unit/ductwork being too small for our two story/square footage and this ratio had forced the AC to work too hard.

I got the name of another company from a friend.  (Air and Solar Technologies LLC) That guy came out, informed us, we were low on Freon, and probably just needed to add a little freon each year at the start of summer!!!!  THousands cheaper.

Arico is bad news!

Fair Consistent & Dependable
I've had them out for the A/C the heater & to repair a broken sink. Never have had a problem with their timing, their work & I already know they are more reasonably priced than others. On my broken pipe under the Kitchen sink their estimate was a third of what Sunny the Plumber wanted AKA Goettl. I will always call Arico for any future repairs I may have.

I have used Arico to install my heating and air conditioning as well as my hot water tank. I adore Tom and Veronica who always get me appointments in a timely manner. Tim , our technician was amazing. I would use no one else.
There are plenty of loser HVAC companies and I have used them in the past. One service tech from another company actually put his foot through my ceiling while checking my furnace and thought I wouldn't notice. Another tried to charge me for a part under warranty.
Steve from Arico did our HVAC installation , and in the dead of summer he built planks and was in an attic which was about 100 degrees installing my furnace. Great job, great employees, #1.

Do not AriCo plumbing Inc. They give you a quote over the phone and then after they are done with the job they give you an invoice that's twice as much as much!  I was quoted $400 to install a hot water heater. They said it would be $35 to take away the old hot water heater. That was fine. After completing the installation they gave me a bill for $800. I said I would not pay that. They called the office and then offered me $600 w/in 2 minutes for the job. When I walked into the house to get my credit card, I walked back out into the garage, and they said $400 was fine.  Since then I've been getting invoices for $395. I've called three times.  Steve, the Service Manager told me that I would receive them until 120 days was up. After that  they would send it to collection. Then it would go to small claims. Which is fine because I'm not going to fall for the bait and switch!
Buyer beware!!!

We called Arico for an emergency plumbing issue and installation of a faucet. Victor was efficient and knowledgeable. The price was very reasonable.

Sorry I can't leave zero stars. They have no idea what they're doing.  The plumber was here for 3 hours but couldn't clear the drain. He said he didn't have the right equipment. Now why wouldn't he bring the right equipment?  He said he went down 75 feet. Liar!  Another plumber came and found the problem in 30 feet.  They are good at sending the bill though. Avoid these guys.

Sorry I can't leave a negative star! This operation is a borderline scam. They charged me for parts that weren't needed, had to come back after an incompetent try at fixing a broken main, then charged me again for their mistake! Oh, and let so much gravel in the line my irrigation valves were filled with it, causing leaking and required countless flushing. Because of that alone I paid an extra 1000 over the next few months in high water bills! Do ypurself a favor and use anyone else.

I have used this company for years, yet when we had a main water pipe go bad, they wanted $10,000 for a replacement that other plumber would do for $3500.  They gave no details of what they would do, just a price. This is a ripoff and irreputable. I will not use them again.

May 28th I got into contact with someone who works for arico about looking at my a/c unit. he said it was old and needed to be replaced. he said he needed 500$ cash down and 6000$ made out to him to get the unit. he wrote me an invoice for all of it. after 3 weeks of constant reschedueling for an install I said im tried of waiting and want a refund. he said the refund would take 15-30 days. so 7 weeks later still didnt have my refund. was constantly getting the run around when my money was going to be ready for me. I made 4 different phone calls to the office no one cared or did anything. currently ive hired a lawyer and filed a lawsuit against the company and the installer for a refund. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY unless you want the same thing to happen to you.

My husband and I had been looking for a plumber since our last service call from Silverado Rooter and Plumbing didn't even make it out at the time they promised and called an hour late. Anywho, so we set up an appointment with Arico Plumbing and man, I can say they were awesome.

The man was very knowledgeable about his trade and took pride in his work which is definitely refreshing. They were very fair in their price and I was glad to spend the money to have the work done. They also have a 30 day warranty which makes me relieved to know I'm not out $125 if they didn't do correctly the first time.

I absolutely recommend this company and their technician is fantastic!

Because they leaked and could not be shut off fully I had to have my main outside water valve and two washing machine faucets replaced. Called the Arico office Monday morning to have the work done as soon as possible as we were having a new clothes washer installed on Wednesday. The lady at Arico said they could sent someone out the next day, Tuesday, at 8 am. At exactly 8 am the following morning a young man name of Josh pulls up in his Arico truck. I explain to him that I would like the two washing machine faucets replaced because they're victims of Tucson water and won't shut off. Josh tells me unfortunately because of the type of fitting used at the faucets he will have to cut out a section of my laundry closet dry wall to get access to the water pipe. Ouch! Then he add's, Or I can just replace your outside main water valve which will shut off water to the entire house including the washing machine when it is replaced and leave these two washing machine faucets open just as they are since most people normally never shut off their washing machine water anyway.
I really appreciated his input, honesty and saving me from spending a lot more money than I needed to.  The work was done quickly and with quality.  Josh represented the company well and appeared to really like his job. I had Arico do a job for me five years ago. That time it was an older gentleman named Bobby. He too did a really terrific job. I would have given him 5 stars too had I reviewed for Yelp back then.

Arico plumbing ripped me off without any shame.  Granted I did not do my research and I trusted them. Shortly after I bought the house I added them to check the system to be ready for summer.  Tim,  promptly told me I needed a new system,  6000 the cheapest.  His field supervisor Steve in meantime  was checking the house  pipes to find out what they wee made off,  he cut off pieces of 10x12 on my drywall and let the cuts fall inside the wall,  he did not apologize or offer to repair.  It was 8am and the man had a strong smell of alcohol on him.

After the unit was installed,  the unit is not fully cooling.  After a warranty call is made Tim comes back in a bad mood talking me down and telling me he is very busy for calls like mine.  He looks at the crawl space and states all the duct now has to be replaced.  He writes up the estimate with a smile on his faces... 4000 dollars to replace the duct on a 6vent 1000 square foot condo.

Later on I ask a male acquaintance to be with me on another service call.  He ask them why they replaced the roof unit without looking at the whole system and Tim replies that they  don't do that. He points out that he now thermostat was left hanging unsecured,  Tim fixes it on the spot after he had yell at me  before not to touch the thermostat ever.  I guess Tim responds better to males calling him to attention than old single women like me.  Then my friend asks the field supervisor about the holes he left on the wall and Steve goes into a lengthy change if subject and avoids a dressing through question.

I just had two other contractors to look at the issue,  both offered to repair or completely replace the duct system for less than 1200 dollars.  One look at my vent high near the ceiling and told me that may be the reason I had not much air or heat in that part of the house.  He opened both up and the placed warmed up in a jiffy... Arico plumbing team kind of overlooked that part when he was writing his  inflated estimate.

The duct system according to two new bids can be repaired in places or totally replaced by almost a fourth of what Arico plumbing quoted.  I told  the  estimators that Arico had replaced the unit and then told me I needed new ducts when the unit failed to perform.  Both contractors stated that was not right.  Then of course we will never know If the roof unit really needed replacement.

I don't believe for a minute the two good reviews on this site.  I encourage folks to really research Hvca contractors before they call Arico., specially in the case of single women.  Arico employs shysters and if you don't believe my story go right ahead.

Just hope they have the right parts on hand to repair a simple faucet leak, otherwise they will charge you an extra $160 just to drive around town for $79 in parts.

Completely misleading in their cost estimates.  I complained to the office, but this billing is normal operating procedure.

I have used Arico Plumbing on two occasions and on each service call the technician arrived on time and neatly dressed.  They were very professional and efficiently found the source of my water leaks and repaired them.  The charges both times were very reasonable.  I have used other plumbing companies and even Craig list guys, but should I need a plumber in the future, I will definitely call Arico Plumbing.  I couldn't ask for anything more than what I got from Arico Plumbing.
