I had never used AC by J before but had seen their ads on tv and thought the company sounded honest and trustworthy. A plumber named Mikey came to evaluate a 10 year old electric water heater and give me his opinions. He took his time and was very thorough. Also he discussed a leak had started under my kitchen sink where a plumber years ago had not properly installed my garbage disposal and some other pipes. I decided to have all the work done that Mikey suggested. The next day Mikey and Pedro came to do the work. They both were kind, caring, friendly, professional, knowledgeable, and thorough. Also they took their time and made sure the work was perfect. They cleaned up all the debris after they were finished. Also I called the office several times both days. Every one of the receptionists went above and beyond trying to answer all my questions. When I called the first time I had asked to speak to a plumbing manager. They had Jake call me back in about 15 minutes. He was awesome. We talked for probably 15 minutes about my needs. He is to be praised also for going above and beyond to help a potential customer. Because of the excellent service I received from all the employees, Jake, Mikey, and Pedro I am going to use AC by J for my air conditioning needs. Thank you AC by J for having such wonderful employees working for your company.

Mixed bag with these guys. They installed a new rooftop AC unit at our condo a year or two ago, for a reasonable fee and on schedule. But then you're called repeatedly to set up a free maintenance check (whatever that might be). I finally did schedule, twice, but both times they failed to show.
To be fair, one of those was set for what turned out to be the hottest day of the year, so they got backed up. But they never bothered to let me know my AM appointment wasn't happening until late PM. Pretty disappointing.
Great technician who was on time and worked hard to diagnose and repair our problem. I am confident he was very efficient.
I was sticker shocked by the prices for the parts, though. The markup charge to the customer for parts that can be obtained at any HVAC store or internet was just astronomical.
They charged us-
$92.00 for a fuse that could be bought at any home supply store for $10.00,
$220.00 charge for a $29.00 30/40 contactor.
$376.00 for a $75.00 surge protector.
I understand having overhead and a higher markup than the internet, but charging 9, 8, and 5 times the retail price for parts is just insane.
My first time experience with this business has left me feeling ripped off.
I would not recommend using this company. Shop around for a small business HVAC company who will treat you right and not have to over charge customers to support all the advertising around the valley and TV.

Top notch firm in Maricopa County. Did lots of research and saved a boatload when replacing the A/C unit in my condo. Lots of great advice and rebates. Awesome follow up. If you live in Phoenix this is your trusted A/C provider! Absolutely awesome folks!
Mike W. came out to evaluate my AC system (which I am replacing). To say he is meticulous is a massive understatement! As he went through my side gate to get to my AC unit, he noticed the gate was clunky - & he took the time to fix it! Who does that?! Someone who cares about every detail, that's who! I love and trust AC by J for plumbing and HVAC.
AC by J is the best AC and plumbing specialists around! They have turned both my plumbing and air conditioning NIGHTMARES into quickly fixed, manageable feats! On top of fixing the problems the first time and the right way, their service technicians are all very kind, professional, courteous (not leaving/making messes) and were a pleasure to have in my home! Our water main was leaking on our side of the meter, the Saturday before super-bowl. I spoke with a rep at AC by J on Saturday afternoon who scheduled a tech to come out between 8-9am Super Bowl Sunday. Received a text and an email confirming my appointment. Sunday morning, no show. I called and spoke with Colleen who said someone tried to call me to reschedule for Monday morning, but couldn't reach me. I had no missed calls, emails, voicemails, texts, etc. I received a call from the 24hr responder who said they'd need to replace the whole line and would be out Monday to provide an estimate. So I called Flush King. They were on-site in 2 hours and provided a temporary water line and a replacement proposal. AC by J never even mentioned a temporary line as an option. Alex showed up Monday morning at 8am and provided a proposal $2k higher than Flush King. I wouldn't recommend AC by J as they don't offer true 24/7 emergency repairs as they advertise, they didn't show up for their scheduled appointment, nor did they even offer a temporary fix to get us through as we were hosting company from out of town.
Driving and texting.... will not do business with them... van #3618 should not have phone in hand while driving... no excuses for it... stop if you have to send a text or call
2/24/23 had $99 service special. Was told everything was fine. 2/25/23 noticed heat was not working, called ac by j for service. They came out 2/26/23 morning. Told me the thermostat had failed after their service and offered me a new one for $971! Coincidence is too much! Had them install the cheapest one they had ($335). They gave me 10% off since I was so upset at the suspicious circumstance. Never used AC BY J before and will never again! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM.

Owner called me to hear my complaints and frustrations. She was disappointed by my experience and challenged me to try them again. She expressed my experience was not typical and understood my frustration.
I tried the again and had an exceptional experience. My technician Kolten was top notch. He walked me through the process of what he was going to check, how he would check it, and estimated best and worse case scenario cost wise.
I really appreciate it and so glad I tried them again. I think I am going to chalk my first experience up to a very hot summer day and the tail end of a busy season.

We've used ACbyJ after relocating to Arizona over 4 years ago and after bad experiences with home warranties and two other plumbing services, we called ACbyJ and immediately received superior customer and professional plumbing services. They truly felt like our problem was their problem and they were going to take care of us like family. That was over 4 years ago and they still take care of all of our various plumbing needs and then some just like family. I really can't recommend highly enough, they are absolutely, hands down the best! Once you make that first call to them, you too will be part of the family.

I've used AC by J now on 2 of my rental properties. They make solid recommendations but don't hit you with the sales pitch. Always on time, communicative and perform solid work. I'll be using them as my go to as I build out my rental portfolio. Follow up is tremendous!
Work so far - Replaced AC Unit, replaced diverters, cleaned AC lines and coils, replaced all angle stops, replaced supply lines. Quoted a tankless water heater that we decided we didn't need as well!
AC by J replaced our furnace and air conditioning system earlier this week, and we had a great experience. The entire team from the sales rep to installers were professional and great to work with. They had very reasonable pricing compared to the 4 other quotes we got, even as a top 5 contractor for APS. Our 20+ year old furnace was leaking carbon monoxide and we had to take our newborn baby to the ER (she is okay now). The installers Mike and Aiden were such nice people. These guys were extremely considerate of the trauma we had just gone through...they explained everything they were doing and answered all questions, and showed us their safety checks once the new unit was installed (even showing us the meter reads on with their CO detectors to put our minds at ease). The whole process was smooth. A whole new system was installed in less the 24 hours from the moment we signed our contract. Thank you!

Today we had both or HVAC unit and Water Heater Serviced. Kazir and Andrew were professional, punctual and friendly. I would highly recommend them both.
I had a great experience with my Heating/AC consultant Matthew today. This was for an annual checkup with no problems turning up. Other companies might try to manufacture some problems just to charge you something extra but this company does not do that. They care about your pocketbook. The technicians at AC by J are so well trained and get to solving any problems quickly and skillfully. They have a way of treating their customers like family which makes them so different from every other company out there. If your home has any issues they could help you with give them a try. They are the best.

These folks are terrific and really came to my rescue at a time when no one else in the local area would.
It was early July and the temps here in Scottsdale were easily over 110 degrees. I had just gotten the keys to my new townhouse and on the day that my floor installers were scheduled to install some very expensive plank wood flooring throughout the home, the HVAC (AC) decided to give up the ghost.
Suddenly I was in the almost impossible situation of trying to get AC running in a home where expensive materials would soon warp and become unusable.
The original company that installed the HVACs in this development wouldn't be available for 2 weeks. My family's multi-decade HVAC service provider wouldn't help. One of the huge local HVAC companies that advertise non-stop about how great their service is, wouldn't even pick up the phone.
Then I tried AC by J. I got a human being who was able to schedule the first appointment for that morning at 10AM. Their agent was able to diagnose the problem and explain my situation so that I could understand it. By that afternoon they had a second agent inspecting my property and quoting me for a brand new HVAC system. Two days later the entire HVAC was replaced and my wood flooring job got saved.
Getting this kind of service in the middle of summer in Arizona (when everyone is clamoring for AC repair/replacement, tells me all I need to know about this company and the folks who run it. They care and they deliver.

Had to have a gas line elbow put in for our laundry room. Micheal was extremely helpful and even tried to solve the issue with our broken dryer. He was extremely insightful with what he was doing and why. He then helped me look at my water main switch and suggested we put in a better valve to help with any future issues. The prices were very reasonable for plumbing services. I will be using Micheal in the future for any of my future plumbing and AC needs.
This is one fabulous company! They have replaced two AC units for us and recently repaired an under slab water leak, with great results. Mikey G., was the plumber who handled all this, which included re-routing/replacing all the hot water lines in that part of the house. It was a massive undertaking, but, Mikey knew exactly what was necessary. He told us exactly what he was going to do, was extremely friendly and knowledgeable, neat and efficient. I could not recommend a service professional more highly. This company has some of the best employees I have ever encountered. This reflects on the great ownership and pride they have in doing great work, at a reasonable cost.
I had an issue with my toilet and called my go-to, AC by J who promptly came out the next day. Murphy was the tech who was so awesome! I was given options, I didn't feel like I was being pushed into anything. Murphy could have written Plumbing for dummies because the way she explained the options was so easy to understand. She was friendly yet professional! Thank you AC by J for ALWAYS being so responsive, affordable and sending out the best of the best!!

Today is June 8, 2022 and AC By J wanted almost $300 to send a Daikin specialist out here today, when in fact they were just out here on May 18, 2022 and charged me almost $300 to have the coils cleaned and the unit slightly charged. Well, long and behold, the same unit is still not working! I believe it's absolutely unfair, unjust and utterly absurd for them to want to charge me $300 to have their Daikin Specialist come out and look at it to figure out what is actually going on with the same unit!!! You would think their work would be under warranty since it was less than a month ago?! So where is the charge of $300 coming from is my question and I couldn't get a truthful, honest, straightforward answer from them.. just got bamboozled around. This is definitely NOT what anyone should ever have to go through, especially in times of need and in the AZ heat. So just for your information, that's where I stand with AC By J. Gonna have a few honest trustworthy professionals come out and look at it and then take them to the ROC, and AZ Attorny Generals Office. Definitely not my go to place anymore and not one I would ever refer again!!! Peace out Kelly!

AC went out on July 5th. Called after 5pm and Kelly the president of the company took the call! She kindly helped me get scheduled for the next day. They called first thing in the morning to confirm a time slot and emailed status updates, then called to say HVAC Service Professional Juan Bustamante was on his way. Juan was professional and friendly- he wore shoe covers and a face mask. He quickly discovered worn wires that blew a fuse but also showed me a picture of a dirty evaporator coil (years of dust and dog fur) recommended a cleaning. He had us back in action within 1.5 hours! The cost was not unreasonable- the response was cheerful and quick. The have a good culture. Would recommend to anyone seeking great ac service!

Do NOT, and I repeat do NOT ever use this company, unless you like getting screwed over.
After posting a review hoping to get better service out of this company, some lady named Kelly contacted to make it right, which was bullshit. Lol because a week later they never made it right, they never called back. This company beyond sucks and screws their customers over!
Do NOT use this company, they take your money and leave you without ac.
I will be having everyone I know posting horrible reviews to get through to someone.

Our hot water heater went out on Thursday. Having dealt with AC by J before we knew they would do top notch work. Within an hour of my call Timber was at our house evaluating the situation. She went through 4 options that we could choose from. She offered to do it the same day but we were leaving our home. Bright and early the next day she removed the old water heater and explained everything she would do. She went through each process and approximately how long it would take. Periodically, she would inform us how far along she was and the next step. She finished within her time limit with a beautiful job. After she was finished she explained what she done and showed us the steps needed to take proper care of the hot water heater. We were totally satisfied and would recommended AC by J to anyone.

I am very pleased with their service and response time. I have a rental and the AC went out at 1 pm on Saturday on a holiday weekend. They were able to get to the unit and assess the problem that day. We did need a new AC unit but the company was very easy to work with and sent text messages about when they would be there. We had the new unit in by Tuesday morning. My tenants were happy with the quick response time and service, especially during COVID

Remind me of car salesmen. The kids came out first to tell us a/c was leaking and we needed a new unit. It is only 4 years old-and cost thousands. Next came the slick sal s manager to put on the squeeze. Had a tech refered from home warranty company come out and the said the unit was fine. Still praying.

The good news is they have an excellent response time. After a big leak on a Sunday night, they appeared early Monday morning. The office staff is also very efficient. In fact, the owner called 3 times to try to make a less-than-ideal experience right.
Should you hire them:
Get their guarantees in writing
Be sure they check your coolant level as part of their service
Get the agreed-upon price in writing
Thoroughly examine any subsequent billing for contradictions to the agreed-upon price.
AC By J has been great. Mike Horsley is extremely knowledgeable and will work with you to get the right A/C unit and for the right price. I highly recommend them!!! Stay Cool!

Our AC keeps freezing and we called AC by J to diagnose the problem. I had left the AC the last time hoping it would make servicing it faster. Noel J. Arrived and turned on the AC with no problem (it is very irritating how as soon as a service person gets near something the problems go away). He went onto the roof to inspect the AC unit and returned to report he couldn't find an issue with the AC. Since I was clearly not happy and repeated the issue, he then spent extra time phoning his coworkers to see if they could help diagnose the problem. In the end, he recommended a coiling cleaning (as this hadn't been done in the 7 years we owned the AC) to see if that will fix the problem. He also switched us from a service call to a maintenance call and saved us $20 dollars.
Jason is the only tech I can recommend at AC by J
HOweVer, it IS very important you specify them sending out a senior tech who is well qualified with at least 5+ years or much more 15+years in Jason's case! The first tech (I will spare his name specifically) AC by J sent out wasn't qualified and suggested repairs that were already completed previously. He also refused to clean my filters!....Do yourself a favor and don't waste your time or money with a random tech and while I don't know any other techs to suggest, I DO whole heartedly know that Jason will do a superior job. Jason has extensive knowledge and he spent a long time making sure my systems were serviced with integrity. It also gave me confidence that calling back to AC by J requesting a senior tech was the right thing to do because the apprentice tech sent out previously had misdiagnosed me needing a $150 repair that he insisted I needed. Bottom line is that AC by J is awesome as long as you recommend Jason or insist on a senior tech who knows what they are doing the first time around or who will perform basic procedures like clearing out lines, vacuuming out dirt or most importantly cleaning your filters. If not, your system will essentially be skipping an important service you paid for or thought you were getting. Thank you Jason!

My Air conditioner completely died. After getting several quotes and having several companies out to get estimates, we went with Ac by J. The guys that came out to my home to do the work were the greatest. I would like to thank Iian and Manny. They were professional, quick and very personable. I would highly recommend them to anyone in need of AC repair/replacement. Thanks a million!!!!
Referred to AC by Jay from a friend. Hadn't had my AC units maintained in over 3 years. Jess at the main office was friendly, helpful and very responsive.
Juan was my technician. He was on time, helpful, informative and very friendly. He had to spend almost a whole day in my house and I felt very at ease.
I felt he explained everything very well and made sure I had a clear understanding of all the repairs needed. He was very professional and was really nice to my annoying dog.
He presented me multiple options for replacement parts and mandatory vs optional upgrades.
Glad to say I'll be an AC by Jay customer for life!!!

I recently experienced problems with my AC cooling properly. Because I had always had great service from AC by Jay at my previous home, I decided to give them a call. Kelly promptly returned my call and reassured me that things would be quickly taken care of. Mike then called me and set up a time for service. He was on time, professional and knew what he was talking about. Because my unit was quite old, I scheduled to have a new one put in. Mike brought out a portable ac to keep me cool! Nice! The following morning Kadyn and another young man arrived on time and got the job done. They were very polite and kept me informed of everything they were doing. A great job by them on a very hot day!! My experience with AC by Jay was amazing! I would definitely recommend AC by Jay to anyone!
I love the service guy they sent out, McKinley. Really smart & really nice. They installed a new tankless hot water heater, and did a fantastic job, both during & after installation. The new system needed a couple of tweaks & they came back to our house in a flash to get it done. We will be using this company for all our plumbing needs from here on out. What a pleasant experience.

My ac unit went down yesterday morning. Called AC by j at 1230. Guys were here by 245. My home warranty said 2 days!!!! This is the second time I've used this company- I can't say enough good things. The guys are always on time, professional, very informative and capable. They even changed out all the air filters yesterday. No charge. Did I mention that every time I get the bill I DON'T feel like I was overcharged. Not the case for another big name AC company I used last year..... hands down the best AC company in the valley - and I would know because I deal with many- I'm a realtor.

I don't give anyone a five star because no one is perfect but AC by J is way up there not only do they answer the phone with a great greeting but they are prompt efficient and clean when working at your house The men they send are smart and do the job well I would recommend them to anyone and I will keep using them whenever I need to
One of the AC compressors was making a very loud noise. The technician checked all components to assure all was working well, hinged any moving parts to the walls of the compressor to stop rattling. Very satisfied with their service and repair.

Had to call AC By J this morning as our AC unit (AC/heater) was making a strange noise it had not made before. AC by J had a technician over to our house within 2 hours and Steve S. was great. Steve was able to quickly and efficiently diagnose the issue and quickly resolved it. There was no additional upselling or hard push to obtain additional services or products. AC by J is still my go-to.

Today Tim Andersen from AC by J serviced our AC system. He was courteous and efficient. Thank you, AC by J, for consistency and immediate help when needed, for thorough service and maintenance, considerate and friendly employees. Excellent communication by e-mail and phone is highly appreciated.
One of our AC units starting making a grinding noise on Easter, of all days. We called expecting the worst, but were pleasantly surprised. AC by J had someone out within a few hours and we were charged a very reasonable price, all things considered.

Jason took the time to do a thorough review of our system and discovered part of the duct had collapsed. We had been experiencing poor flow to the back of the house for YEARS until Jason found the issue and resolved it in a day. This is a superb, trustworthy company and I highly recommend them.
I've had AC BY J both attempt to repair my old AC unit, and ultimately install a brand new unit, which just occurred today.
I found the entire AC BY J team to be very timely, ethical and honest - A pleasure to deal with!
Unfortunately for the sake of this review, I cannot remember the names of the guys who were at the repair team - but they were great. I appreciated their honesty and attentiveness, and really taking the time to make sure I understood all the details of my old AC unit and all my repair options. My old unit was in fact very old and very energy inefficient. Still, the AC BY J team was very happy to repair if that's what I wanted.
I personally decided that a brand new unit would be best, which was installed today. Tyler was great! I appreciate all the time he and his coworkers spent here today to make things were done right, and again, taking the time to explain everything they were doing in detail.
I am very happy with my new new unit! Importantly, I thought pricing was VERY fair for everything they did and all that I got! Thank you again AC BY J, I am a very pleased customer.
Coldest morning of the year our heat pump decides to quit working. Called AC by J early on a Saturday morning based on a next door app recommendation. Got their operator at first but got a call back within 10 minutes. Scheduled an appointment for that Saturday morning. The technician was there before noon, he showed up when he was supposed to! He determined that a wire came loose and needed to be replaced. He quoted a fair price and fixed it while he was there. Technician was professional and even charged us $10 less than what he quoted. We signed up for their yearly maintenance program. All in all a good experience!

They are very fast in a pinch but beware the blower motor was going out on my AC unit at least they diagnosed it correctly but wanted to charge me $1600 to replace it which prompted me to look into buying a new AC unit. And then after I researched the blower motor via the model number from the blower motor I found out that the part was 300 bucks. Needless to say I felt like they were trying to rip me off.
Extremely professional service provided by this company and their employees. We had a AC emergency and they immediately responded and installed new units within 2 days. A few small glitches were quickly remedied. Their free plumbing inspection resulted in fixing some minor issues and information about other necessary preventative repairs. Often you might be speaking with the owner who is very active in the business. Highly recommend these folks
They showed up on time, with text and photos of the technician. Professional. Took ten minutes to find the problem with my AC unit. Fixed in 30 minutes. Charged me $89 for trip charge, and charged $316 to replace a $7 - 35/5 Phase Shifter. If that's not highway robbery, I don't know what is. Guess jokes on me.. since it's July and my AC went down.
I highly recommend AC by J as your heating and cooling team. We have used them for over 10 years and they have always provided outstanding service and they are a company we trust. Most recently, we had Juan Bustamante out to service our furnace for winter - we always ask for Juan because he is very thorough and explains everything he is doing in detail. When Juan is done you know what has been done and why - which we appreciate.

AC went out Friday night, placed a work order online with home warranty company. They couldn't get someone out in a timely manner & approved me to use a company of my choice Saturday afternoon. Quickly asked around the neighborhood & AC by J was recommended. They got here before 6 pm on Saturday, fixed the botched job from another AC company that repaired it just a week ago and got me up & running. The technician, John, was great! Will definitely use again!
We recently had to replace one ac unit and repair another. The heat wave last week was particularly hard on ac units. When both went units out at the same time, I was pretty worried about how long it might take to fix and how much it would cost.
Ac by J responded very quickly. They were informative about what needed to be done. Now that everything is fixed, I can tell the work is high quality. They quoted a decent price for the replacement. Not only that, but everyone we worked with was really friendly and polite. I would definitely recommend them, but I hope we don't need them again soon! They were great!!

AC by Jay came to my rescue a few years back when my air conditioning unit failed. My roommate at the time was stuck at home with my two pets while I was across the country for work. Temperatures started to rise and AC by Jay swooped in after hours to help. They hooked me up with a new AC and a monthly service plan that has been awesome ever since.
Specifically, my most recent technician, Collin, has been fantastic. Always prompt and professional, I feel that his assessment of my AC unit is accurate and never recommends unnecessary maintenance.

I started using AC by Jay about a year ago. They have been fantastic. Technicians are always polite, friendly and knowledgable. Today we had an issue one day after a quarterly check. The sent a technician out the same day as our call, Juan Bustamante. Juan was amazing. He worked hard to track down the problem and fix it and all of this was at no charge.
AC by J is a rare company these days. They are honest and really value their customers.

Our water heater suddenly stopped working on a Friday. I called for warranty work (it's less than a year old) and was told a repair company would be in touch 'sometime next week'. Not wanting to go without hot water for an indefinite period I called AC by J Saturday morning (found them here on Yelp). They had a tech (McKinley) out within a few hours. He was awesome. After some trouble shooting he was able to determine that the water heater itself was not at fault, we actually had a broken wire in the junction box connecting the heater to the main breaker. Even though he would not be doing the actual repair work for this wiring, he took the time to help identify the problem so we could get the right people out for this repair. I Highly recommend them and will definitely be using them again for any plumbing or AC issues that might come up in the future.
Josh and Aaron were not only extremely professional, they were HONEST!. I had another company come out to look at my air conditioning units about a month before AC by J. The other company told me that the things that were not good with my units were going to cost over $2600. I guess they thought I didn't know anything about air conditioning units. I really dislike when someone tries to cheat me and tell me things are needed when they are not. That my friends is plain theft. Josh and Aaron were prompt, professional, and diagnosed exactly what my units needed at a very fair and reasonable price. I also signed up with their
Priority Protection Plus Service Agreement as it was at a very good price. I will never use another air conditioning company other than AC by J.
5 star Customer service from start to finish! My technician Joshua arrived promptly for a general inspection of my new a/c system in a brand new condo. He discovered an underperforming part that would have eventually caused the unit to stop cooling or cause damage. He followed up a few days later to let me know that he'd checked with the manufacturer and the part was under warranty saving me $$$!! Multiple people checked in with me to ensure I was satisfied with my service - impressive! Highly recommend!
These guys are great! We just had both of our units checked by Kyle with AC by J today. He was such a nice guy and so direct and hard working. He was very thorough and the services are reasonably priced. (We bought our unit from them 2 years ago. Works GREAT!)
Could not be more pleased with the time they take to explain and get the job done right the first time! I've been a customer for over 10 years and when my AC went out at my current house this month, I did not hesitate to have them come out to replace the unit. While they were replacing, I remembered they also do plumbing and was able to get a quote for moving existing pipes for the new washer/dryer location. 1 stop shop for all my needs!! Also, Eric and the rest of the team has been amazing, I recommend them to everyone!

Bought unit from them, and they have serviced. They arrive as scheduled and do a good job. The new unit (have had about 18 months now) has lowered my utility bills, and performed as promised.
A few months later, during a service call, I mentioned the airflow balance causing whistling in one of the rooms. The tech climbed up in the hot attic, made a couple of changes and adjustments, and now all is well.

First time I have used AC by J. My only regret is that I didn't know about them sooner. I called in the morning and by mid-day the Tech was onsite. One hour later my AC was up and running again which in 110 degree heat that meant a lot! The tech was knowledgeable, friendly, clean and professional. We've used AC by J a couple of times now. Just a week or so ago, my mother's AC started blowing hot air. Nate is the serviceman who came to look at the unit only to find that the variable speed motor had blown. The next day, they located a new motor and had it installed in no time! Nate was super. Everyone was of course, and we appreciated their quick and efficient service. I would recommend to anyone.
I have a 35-year-old house and I have tried many air-conditioning maintenance companies I was out visiting my girlfriend in Cavecreek and she used air conditioning by Jay. I need new I need to have my air conditioning in service but the last time I had them service I tried to sell me $15,000 worth of equipment, this was a night and day experience with the technician CAREY, he spent a lot of quality time checking out both of my units were which were about 28 years old I've had some modifications to them and he was just amazing what excellent condition they are he did his 25 -150 step process whatever it was he spent a lot of time here .

Everyone I dealt with (Roxanne, Mark & Melvin) were excellent. Roxanne gave me a time for my appointment and then called me about 20 minutes before Mark & Melvin arrived. Both Mark & Melvin were extremely polite, knowledgeable and patiently answered all of my question. I was so please that I decided to sign up for their maintenance program which is very reasonably priced when you consider all you get. I will definitely be a very long term customer!.

Great company who has professional employees. They call the day before their scheduled appointment and a half hour before the days appointment. My new installation was installed by skilled technicians who showed they cared about providing a perfectly installed unit. They answered all of my questions which showed me that they were a trained crew who had the experience needed. I have used many other AC companies with a very bad experience by some and I strongly recommend AC by J.

Just finished my semi-annual ac/heat check-up. Juan was today's technician. He was pleasant, professional, personal, and efficient. Took the time to do all of the details and review with me. Juan vacuumed up after visiting the attic and recoiled the garden hose after washing the unit. The little things are refreshing. Kudos to AC by J and Juan!
Called for boiler repair. Was told I needed a new one. Total cost estimate $7000. Had no choice but to go ahead. Workmen were professional. I looked up part and found it was $2500.
When work was completed I asked for a detailed invoice (parts, labor, etc). I was told that they couldn't do that. They gave me the following estimated breakdown
Material $3550.00
Labor $1775.00
Overhead $1065.00
Profit $710.00
Since retail for the hot water heater was $2500, you be the judge as to the sprofessional ethics of this company!!!
Vetted by SRP to help customers reduce costs and improve energy efficiency, this company is very professional and knowledgable. Service by Buzz and Xavier was prompt and of the highest quality. I understood their clear and honest explanation regarding my 28 year old unit--they did not try to sell me a new one. However, I did intend to buy a maintenance agreement, which was reasonably priced. I've worked with many firms in the valley and believe these guys have a lot of integrity.
Thank you for being very easy to work with and getting the service we need efficiently and correctly the first time. AC by J is also very easy to work with by phone and by email with quick direct response. No numbers for routing.
I Can't say enough about A/C by J and Andrew I felt as though a family member was doing our plumbing. From the minute Andrew walked thru our door he took the time to talk with me about what maybe going on and possible solutions. Now mind you are situation wasn't an easy turn of a wrench as we had water running behind our washer wall in between the Pantry though nothing was damaged so it was contained thank God. Andrew was able to find where the leak was (kitchen sink) re-route our plumbing thru the attic and down behind the wall to the sink with minimal structural damage. This is the 2nd time we have used A/C by J and truly I am so impressed from the dispatching customer care to the face to face professionalism. I was so impressed I gave my home insurance agent rep their number for home casualties. Thanks Kelly for running such an amazing business!!
I called them in a bind...and they tried to take full advantage.
First, they charged me $135 just to drive to my place. Then they quoted by $1700 to fix my unit, but told me it was too old and about dead so I should replace it. Next they quoted me $7,000 - $8,000 to put in a new unit.
It felt fishy, so I called another company. The other company fixed my AC for $450...and told me I could get another good 5 years out of it.
Never ever use these guys.
I called AC by J after hours to come look at my AC unit which stopped working. While they were able to come out they quoted me over $1700 to replace a motor and capacitor. They said it would be cheaper to replace the entire AC unit at $8k.
I contact another AC repair company who was able to just replace the capacitor in under 30 min and costs me 5 times less than what AC by J quoted.

Nothing but good things to say about AC by J. They replaced an AC unit at my old condo that went out in April and did a great job from start to finish. Just moved into a new house and they came to check everything out. Chris was awesome to work with, knowledgeable and entertaining. He took videos of everything he had inspected for the HVAC and was honest about how we should go about our 20 years old unit. Every time we have reached out to customer service with questions they respond right away and call before all appointments, because we have dogs that are a bit misbehaved, so they put on our account that we request a 30min heads up. Can't say enough nice things about the quality and professionalism of AC by J. I don't jut use them for maintenance on my air conditioners but also have a plumbing contract with them where annually, they have a plumbing technician (this time was Tim C) come out, drain the water heater and check the house plumbing to make sure everything was okay. Tim was exceedingly well mannered and polite and provided a level of consideration that created a delightful customer service experience. He not only drained my water heater but also reset my water softener for me (I did not know it was out of sync). He also took the time to explain how the seals worked in in my Kohler toilets as opposed to less expensive water closets and how the seals in mine were chlorine resistant which creates a longer life for my toilet systems.
Once again, lovely customer service experience, I've had no problems with either they AC or plumbing system they have not been able to address. :-)
It's 120 degrees in Phoenix. They charged me 500 dollars for a run capacitor. Waaay overpriced. They are taking advantage of people that are desperate for ac in the summer. Do not be fooled by the good reviews that are probably employees of the company and are probably not real reviews.

It's so sad when you trust people and think that they're doing right by you to find out they're not. This is AC by Jay.
We've used them for many years to do the bi-annual maintenance work on two homes and my commercial business. They would come to each, go up into the attic and say everything is fine, we'll see you in six months.
One of the homes has a room that gets no air - literally, and we asked our maintenance man What can we do to get air to this room? He responded Nothing. You may want to put in a ceiling fan to help, other than that you have to live with it.
Jump ahead 2 years, everything's the same but now I need a new AC system due to age. We called in a few different companies to get some proposals and we were blown away by what we heard. All the other companies said that the reason there's no air getting to the front room is because there's a kink in the duct and many air leaks throughout. Can it be fixed? Yes, we need to put in a new plenum and it will be fine.
We called our company, AC by Jay and they had nothing to say.. Really what could they say? Sorry would be a good start, how can we make this right? But we didn't get any of that they tried to say it was our fault because nobody noted that we were having problems on our account.
Don't get me started - Even if I never mentioned that I don't get any air in the front room they should have said hey you've got a kink and leaks in your system which may be decreasing your air to the front room. Makes sense since this is why you pay for maintenance.
The topper to all of it; So AC by Jay suggested that we put up a ceiling fan. The room didn't have an outlet to do so and we had to call an electrician to come out and install one for us. That cost us $500 and then the fan was another $250. Now we find out from all these other companies that having a fan does not help the situation, if anything it makes the room hotter because it's using a motor. It's exactly what you don't want to do!
Bottom line: AC by Jay has not only taken money from us when they didn't provide the service but they cost me even more money ($750) because they advised me to get the fan that ultimately was adding to the problem.
We still have not heard anything from AC by Jay.
Lesson should have been learned when the receptionist said the sales representative will be there .... Sales person? So, expecting they need to make money too I knew it would be me paying that.
The sales rep came, was surprisingly very knowledgable and gave good advice. I already knew what was wrong with my unit and had a quote from another, much smaller company.
I received my quote later that day and I almost $&i@ my pants. They were $800 more than I had been quoted by the other company!
They were not pushy, very smart but unreasonable in price. I ended up going to my original quote who was awesome! Ive had him here two times and he is very smart, responsive and competitive/reasonable. Robert Schiller AC if you were interested.
Too bad ac by jay was too much. If they were like $100 more I would have paid it. Not now, I have a great ac man!
We've used AC by J twice in the past 3 years and they've been fantastic. We purchased an AC mini-split system - their price was very fair and their technicians as well as the electricians they brought for the job were all top notch. They were incredibly knowledgeable and professional. We then used AC by J when our water heater stopped working 2 days before Christmas. Again, they came out in a very timely manner and followed up to be sure we got exactly what we needed. Highly recommend!!
These people cannot be trusted. Their reps are paid on the basis of commission...so do not be surprised when they try to upsell you things...things and work that you do not even need. Had a trusted firm review a proposal of theirs and the result was a combination of laughter and nausea. They cannot be trusted to give you straight, honest information or an appropriate price. Run, don't walk away from these people.
These team get it right every time. They are efficient and explain in detail what they are doing or not doing. They are extremely helpful with all aspects of the AC and heating business. I used them for a complete redo of my entire home. Im extremely satisfied and will not go anywhere else! Oh, they are very reasonable as well.
Highly recommended as the entire process from start to finish was excellent. Very straightforward in explaining the options to replace the 13 year old system, The installation crew arrived on time and was extremely professional and courteous. All work to include 3 new air returns, unit replacement and swamp cooler removal completed in one day.
If you need to call for service or a new system, I would recommend AC by J be at the top of your list!
I have used these guys a few times. The service has always been great but they are a little pricey - $75 service call and an additional $98 for the plumbing health and safety package which sells for $29.95 on their website.
Update: office called and will apply the $98 to my next service. More than fair. Definitely recommend
We have been using AC by J for years for regular maintenance and fixes. When we had a recent AC emergency, they had a tech out to our house within a few hours. The tech fixed the problem, diagnosed the issue and took pictures and a video to document what was found. They have always been professional, affordable and trustworthy. We recommend them to everyone we know.

I moved into a model home that was originally serviced by Chas Roberts. Only when my AC had problems and the technician literally said, You have a leak. topped off with Freon, and left without even checking to find where the leak was, did I find out the quality of Chas Roberts. My AC was still under parts warranty at the time, which is why I imagine the technician was not eager to actually find the problem. At the time I didn't know that Chas Roberts' bread and butter is actually just installing ACs, not at all maintaining them. They are in fact quite poorly rated for their servicing.
Fast forward two years, and I am facing the same dilemma, only this time I am better informed. Chas Roberts told me to wait 4 days before they could come out in the middle of Arizona summer. Needless to say I reached out to yet another AC company, George Brazil. They gave me quite a bit of run-around, said I needed to replace my entire evaporator coil, topped off my Freon and left.
Fast forward a single month. My Freon has completely leaked out and I'm dying in Arizona summer again. I found AC by J via Google search thinking I couldn't do much worse than I already had. My goodness was the service entirely different! They found the leak in the hose (not the entire evaporator coil) and said the repair was cheap. In the end I am getting the entire evaporator coil replaced, but that is due to the folly of all of the other repairs that never happened and caused massive corrosion of my unit.
AC by J was fast to get out to me, on time, and had two technicians on site. They were both very personable (Tanner & Jorge) and very respectful. I highly recommend them, and I know I will be using them in the future for all of my AC needs.
They were very cost competitive compared against several other companies I called (Howard Air, Precision Air, and George Brazil). They in fact beat the prices of all of those services!

AC by J are certainly experts and professional at their repairs. Personable and efficient at fixing the plumbing. What was done: new bathroom shower-tub plumbing which required cutting a hole in the wall to repair the plumbing; new kitchen faucet, sprayer combo with new valves; check up on all of the house plumbing; outside plumbing shutoff valve and repair of plastic irrigation pipes; new water heater and hookups. They did a lot of work which was done professionally and correctly so it won't have to be redone! The only step wrong with their system is that one had no idea as to cost of the whole process and cost of fixtures etc. I know that plumbing fixtures are expensive! The water heater alone was $1,300.00 so it is no surprise that it cost several thousand dollars. GREAT PLUMBING JOB EXPERTLY DONE. What is needed is an actual CASH ESTIMATE so you can get an idea as to COST.

These guys saved our night last night...our A/C went out late last night and they came out at 1:30am to fix it had everything done with in the hour we ended up having to replace the whole motor... Service was every prompt and professional even at 130am on a Saturday night! Thanks AGAIN!
Just had two new units installed by AC by J. In one day they removed the existing two 5-ton units and installed the new two super high efficient units, along with wifi thermostats. They laid out tarps before the work began, and vacuumed afterwards. Staff did a great job and were very professional. They did a great job reviewing the system operations, including the new wifi thermostats. They also completed all of the utility rebate paperwork. The new units are very quiet and work great!!! They will be a big savings to my utility bill!!! I would highly recommend these guys.
We have used AC by J for many years with consistently good service. Xavier Tobin came yesterday to perform our semi-annual service checkup. In the course of the service he discovered that the air scrubber we had installed 6 years ago was no longer working, which we had recently suspected. Because of breathing issues that one of our family members has we don't want to go without the extra filtering that it provided.
Xavier gave us a thorough explanation of our options, basically install another air scrubber like the one we had, or an electronic air cleaner. Once we heard the advantages of the new technology, and that the costs were about the same, it was an easy decision.
Xavier had the unit we needed on his truck and had it installed within 45 minutes. A very clean installation. He explained how to use the air cleaner to get the best results and answered all our questions.
Xavier did a professional job in a pleasant way. I hope he is the technician we get next spring.

We have been using AC by J for our air conditioning and heating maintenance for the last five years. This past week, we were fortunate to have Jorge Gutierrez perform our semi-annual routine maintenance. He was on time, courteous, and efficient in his work, making sure to wear shoe covers when indoors and keeping the areas where he worked neat and clean. We appreciate Jorge, and all of the AC by J crew that we have worked with over the last five years. We would recommend their service without reservation!
Richard Garza came out to our home to trouble shoot a wonky thermostat. He stuck with the problem until he solved it. He did an outstanding job and his professionalism is one reason why we consistently are pleased with AC by J. They are responsive, they stick with a problem until they solve it and they check back to be sure everything is working. We have used AC by J on two major remodels and we wouldn't use anyone else.
I am very happy to report that Air Conditioning by Jay contacted me, and that my concerns have been fully and satisfactorily resolved. I therefore withdraw my previous review, dated February 5, 2015.
We had exceptionally great customer service by Chris from AC by J. He made a house call to check our broken AC at midnight and then came back the next day to help us out again. Very thorough, friendly and professional. You can count on these guys, they will accommodate their clients and that's hard to come by these days in customer service. Five stars for technician, Chris and AC by J!
The Technician, Chris, was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. He went right to work but was very patient when I asked questions. He helped me understand how my HVAC system works and showed me important components that I need to be aware of for the future.
Chris explained the recommended repairs in such a way that I understood the reason for making the repair but I never felt pushed into a decision.
He explained the benefits of having a maintenance contract compared to a straight payment of the services provided today. Again, without pressure, letting me make the decisions. He's either a very honest broker or a very competent con-man. I like to think the former.
So far this company, and especially Chris, has earned my confidence and I recommend them.

I'm very unhappy with this company. I had a maintenance agreement with them. As part of that, they change 4 filters annually (they're 12 month, 4 pleated filters). They charged $100 per filter, on top of the annual maintenance fee. When I asked why the excessive charge, I was told, well they are really good filters, they last a year. I just looked at replacing them myself, looked up the exact same brand on the internet. I am able to purchase 3 of them at $42.50 ea and one at $23.06. I was grossly overcharged at $100 ea, explanation was, we're not the internet. They were going to install a coil for a supposed leak they detected in my 7 year old Trane system. The coil is covered under warranty. The labor was going to be $1,500, but Daniel said he would credit that $333 for leak detection performed by a different company (a cost that would have been $989 if done by AC by J). When they came out with the coil, they said, oh, we have to remove the attic entrance trim and the closet shelf and we won't put it back, you'll have to. They worked on my system extensively and were well aware of my attic access and should have prepared me ahead of time for that type of prep, if it was needed. Nothing re prep was discussed with me beforehand. Even though the closet shelf was NOT removed when the whole unit was installed 7 years ago. And no, the $333 discount was already deducted in the $1,500 charge, so cost would be $1,500, not $1,200. My notes, per my verbal conversation with Daniel, indicated my price would be $1,200, which I still thought was excessive. I confirmed this price with Daniel verbally twice. However, they were not going to honor it. I sent them away with their coil. Very unethical and very overpriced 3 times at a minimum. Will never call them again.

We have had only excellent service from AC by J, including a technician showing up today to re-light the pilot on the water heater. We called this morning, scheduled for this afternoon, and the problem was resolved earlier than expected. We originally called to have our AC unit serviced close to a year ago. This was based on a recommendation from my uncle, who has used AC by J for years. Carey Johnson (technician #408) was extremely helpful in determining an issue with the thermostat and the breaker. The charge was reasonable for the work done, and we decided to sign up for ComfortCare. This gives us peace of mind and AC by J has delivered service over and above on two other occasions, including today. We highly recommend them.
I just had the most WONDERFUL tech. named Carey Johnson tech (#408) come out to do an inspection on our AC unit. He was so nice, knowledgeable and explained everything to me where i could understand. I am new to AZ and only living here a year did not understand how important AC was. I know dumb right?!
Before we had another company come out they charged us through the roof for some liquid and a part. Carey took video of the problem as well as pictures so that i had adequate documentation of the problem and not just talking. We ended up having to have the whole unit replaced but because Carey did such a tremendous job of documenting the problem we should have no problem getting the unit replaced by our landlord.
If your new to the Phoenix/Laveen Village area and dont know who to call, call AC by J and they will take care of you FAST! I just cannot say enough good things about Carey and the company who hired such a wonderful employee. One last thing they also have the BEST rates and promotions around town.
Tim did the work on the heat pump and put his all into it. Nice, pleasant and a very hard worker. Not enough words to explain. All companies should have employees like Tim. Thanks Tim. Great job - nice nice guy. Also got to see pictures of his beautiful little girl.

Easter Sunday my AC went out. My home warranty company couldn't sent anyone as they stated it was Sunday, so I searched the internet myself. Shame on you, Old Republic, but I was Lucky enough to find AC BY JAY! ! !
Their repairman got to my home and discovered the AC condensor was bad; something the last 5 warranty companies could not discover. I asked if his business could come out on Monday and give me an estimate on a new one.
Steve F. was kind enough to come to my house before his 2 regular scheduled appointments and give me an estimate. The price was good but I told Steve I needed the system installed that day as I had an elderly person and also a handicapped person living in the residence. He was able to get the install scheduled for that same day. Josh and Matt got to the house in the afternoon and not even four (4) hours later I had my brand new pump pumping out wonderful cold air. Way to go, AC BY JAY!!!!! And a big thank you to Kim & Kara for keeping me informed on the time the installers would arrive.
Very prompt first arrived right at the scheduled window time (a first for me when waiting for a serviceman!) I had concerns that my older AC might have problems this summer and yes they do charge to come out and diagnose. 69.95 contracted by SRP.. Anyway found nothing wrong and gave me some advice. Prompt, friendly did tell me about their service plans. Cleaned up after checking (vents) located above the ceiling in bathroom. Maybe too early to tell as this is my first place but so far happy.
Note to others Definitely helps to have ceiling fans in your home if you live in S. AZ. How does anyone live with out them I don't know.
Update as much as I would like to use them I did find another place that charges less soo IDK. Still very prompt and friendly and cleaned up after they left.
If you have money to blow definitely call these guys. We used them twice and on the third time just wanted an estimate and they charged 85.00 just to come out. Then wanted 1600.00 to fix it. While the unit is still under warranty. Ended up calling someone else and paid 750.00. True they do come on time. But they bend you over big time.
After 23 years with an AC company I decided to talk to an APS certified vendor and found this company on their list. Great appointment today with technician Tim. He was extremely professional and very informative. I think we got a very thorough check up with good safety recommendations. We decided to get a quote for a new system since ours was 18 years old and definitely not energy efficient. Enjoyed meeting with Tanner to review the products AC by J carry and we decided to go ahead and have a new Daikon system installed. Talk about a professional team! The installation went smoothly and actually included a crane :) to get it into our back yard. The installers were so informative and efficient in their install. Super great experience and we would recommend this company whole heartedly!
I have used A/C by Jay for many of my clients a/c needs. One tech lied about the work he performed at one clients home. On another call to a different client, they diagnosed the system without even checking the freon level or checking the load on the compressor. After many failed attempts with their company, I have finally found a very reliable, trustworthy and professional company with Precision A/C. Laith Hensley came out and now he is my go to guy at Precision a/c. It was very disappointing to put faith in A/C by Jay for so long to have them consistently fail me. I did share my concerns with the office and they said they would have someone call me to address my concerns. To date, I have not received a call.
I went to this company after a bad experience with another. I was really happy with their customer service and very pleased with their work. They did a repair and thorough a/c maintenance. Used them for twice a year tuneup maintenance on a/c and heater for couple years. Was happy with them until last visit on a repair on my water heater. The control box mechanism went bad, not keeping the burner lit. So had them come out to replace it after I got the manufacturer ship me a new one. The repairman seemed very nice, was explaining as he had progressed, but I didn't watch over him since dealt with them many before no problems. Well that might have been the mistake. After awhile he got me to show & tell me what he found and done. He said everything was fixed ok, but that there might have been another problem caused by the gas hose to tank. It was slightly pinched closed but not to where it was shutting the gas off to heater, but might make it work harder that may have led to the control to go bad in first place. I don't remember it being that way before he worked on it and it was never mentioned by the previous repairmen from them that have worked on the water heater to flush out it out. I was thinking this guy accidentally caused the pinching and couldn't fix it so came up with this to hide the mistake. I asked and made he sealed the area to make sure no gas would leak from and he showed he did put sealant and checked for leaks. But after that, I couldn't trust this company anymore to do work on my house again.
I even got a guy friend to look at the work and told him about the story and he agreed it was probably a mistake caused the pinching during his repair. This friend also came out to look at my water heater before I got it repaired to see if they knew what was wrong and he said he is sure the hose wasn't like that before.
Overall, I say this company is good and reliable, but as the customer and owners of the appliances they are working on you are to be just as good in being vigilant in ensuring the repairs are to be done to your satisfaction. I blame myself for not watching the whole time and I blame the repairman for not owning up to their mistake. It would have been fine if was owned up because it wasn't a bad problem and he did make sure wasn't gonna be a problem like no gas going where it needed to go or blowing me up. Got to have trust and make it right, so that's why they lost my business.
Terrible! I paid the $89 for them to come out and give me a quote. I was quoted around 2 grand in repairs, and told If it were my machine I wouldn't both, I'd just buy a new one (Let me have a salesmen call you.. ball park $4500-5000) YEAH RIGHT!
Needless to say I got a 2nd quote, and was charged $400 for the total repair bill.

Technician Chris Galle fixed the problem (which saved me lots of money). He was professional, very personal, and explained everything he did.
All in all, an excellent job. I highly recommend them.

I recently had both Ralph and Corey over to install a Halo system and do a plumbing check. I was having problems in my basement. Ralph diagnosed a bad sump pump. He gave me a price, I decided to wait to see how the other work went, afterall this was an expensive repair. After getting to know Ralph and Corey, I felt comfortable letting them work on my sump pump. Ralph ordered the part, and scheduled the install for the next day. I needed to be at work, and could not open the place up. I gave Ralph a garage door code as well as my alarm code. That is how much I knew I could trust him. Owning a service business myself, I know how hard it is to find people that you can trust. Ralph is definitely one of those people. He got the job done as promised. I probably did pay a little more then I had to, but Ralph made it worth the extra expense. He understands the value of good quality customer service. The next morning we had no hot water. Ralph came right out and took care of the issue. We had some air in the lines that was preventing the entire house from getting hot water.

I have had AC by J do multiple jobs at my house. The first one went seemingly well, a minor repair on my tub faucets. So I called them again. This time it was for a major undertaking with a slab leak in our bathroom. In this particular case, there were many components to the repair i felt like I had to stay with AC with J - even though I thought the price quotes they gave me were expensive - I did not have the time to shop around for other quotes.
The next occasion was also under duress. One Saturday morning I woke up to find both of my kitchen sinks full of water - meaning my line was clogged and backed up from my laundry room (washer), past the dishwasher to my sinks. Just the day prior I had had a locating company come out and locate and mark exactly where my clog was - although at the time it was still partly working. I thought I would wait until after I went out of town for the holidays to shop around and get quotes. When the sink clogged up, I called AC by J and was told they would be out after 3. By 630 I called and was told that the tech had just left. Sure. When Victor came out he quoted me a discounted rate of $2750 to dig down 12 through the soil in my back yard, cut out a 6' section, replace it and install clean outs. I was so upset! I let my hubby handle it. Due to a couple of other circumstances we had no other choice but to have them do the work the next day Sunday (yeah, the worked on the weekend. I would to for that kind of money). They finished the work and it seems to be working fine.
However, I have another clogged line, lucky me. Again, already located and marked by someone else. This time it is 26 underneath a concrete slab. THIS time I am going to get 3 quotes and see what I get.
The first plumber came out and gave me a quote of $1722.35, $1080 of that was for the CONCRETE work (saw cut and replace).
The second quote was from DW Plumbing. Patrick spent an hour with me, reviewing the video from the locating service and discussing options with me. Wow!!! Options? I have options? No one else said I had options!!
Then, just for fun, I had AC by J come out and give me a quote. Victor came back, looked at the concrete slab, said he had to talk to his concrete company and that he had promised my hubby a discount after the last $2750 job. An hour later I got the estimate via email. Want to guess what the Discounted price for the work UNDER the slab was?? $3100.
I contacted AC by J with all of my price quotes for the work and asked them to refund part of my moneys paid for the work in December on the kitchen line - that I felt that they had disgustingly overcharged me. You can guess what that got me.
So, this is definitely one of those Buyer Beware Notices. They do respond reasonably quickly - which if you are in a pinch and you don't care about pinching your pennies - go for it. However, if you are of the more frugal mind set and work hard for your money, then don't even bother getting a quote from them because they are going to blow you out of the water.
I had a repairman come out to do a routine service and was quoted $2100 in repairs as well as a suggestion that we may want to just replace the unit ($8-9k). We had a second estimate from another company that is for $840 who also said we are nowhere close to needing new units. The guy who came out was really nice, but am SO glad we got a second opinion!

We came home from an extended vacation last Friday to discover one of our AC units was flashing the error code and not working at all. Although AC by Jay's total cost was several hundred dollars more than two other estimates from separate companies for similar work, I went with A/C by Jay as they have a great reputation. I felt very comfortable with Steve Flaherty when he came to do my estimate. He found several other issues the other two companies did not and did not try to be a hard sell on the choices I had of their products. I was never charged a fee for the estimate.
Steve, Terrell, and Derrick did a great job of removing the old equipment and installing the new. They checked every vent and made sure my install was clean and tight. They were here and gone in less than six hours and the new unit works awesome. I would definitely use them again.

Steve the representative came out exactly when he said he would and was able to offer me a quote on a Fujitsu mini-split unit for our kitchen/family room right then. Because I had other quotes in hand, his was the most reasonable. I agrreed to the unit and installation and gave a deposit.
Derrick & Eric, the installers were couteous, and efficient. When completed, they cleaned up everything and took time explaining all the features of the unit.
The only hitch in the process, was I was not informed that the installation would be an hour or so later than initially planned. No big thin though.

I needed to replace both heat pumps on my house and decided to include AC by Jay in the five contractors I called to ask for quotations. I checked BBB and Registrar of Contractors on each before asking them to participate. All contractors were knowledgeable in residential installations and made their presentation for the brands of equipment they represented.
Since each contractor knew they were bidding against others, four of the five presented competitive quotations with the company who advertises most being the highest, least competitive bid. Considering the quality Lennox heat pump units they proposed, AC by Jay presented the best value for my replacement project. Their Sales Representative Eric, was very professional and did not attempt to pressure me in any way.
The replacements were scheduled for the next day which I appreciated because I was in a hurry to get the work completed. The Installers for my project were Josh and Steve who arrived exactly on time and began removal of the existing equipment immediately. Since I have past experience in this type of work I watched the progress of work and could tell both installers were well trained in their trade. Josh and Steve were diligent in their work and careful to ensure the new Lennox equipment received a quality installation.
I have closely monitored the operation of the new Heat Pumps the past few days and am very pleased with their performance. The sound level in the living space is half that of the previous units and I can already tell the higher efficiency rating of the new equipment has reduced my utility costs. With the new smart metering system you can log into the utility company website and see your daily electrical consumption.
Based on my experience, I would not hesitate to recommend Air Conditioning by Jay to others needing to replace their air conditioning equipment.

I own a kitchen and bath remodel business in Northern Virginia, and rely on a team of great subcontractors to keep my customers happy. Two years ago, I purchased a winter home in Scottsdale (Terravita). The HVAC system was 18 years old, and recently I sought contractor recommendations from a local home inspector and a neighbor to replace the system. Surprisingly, both recommended AC by J. I secured quotes from AC by J and two other contractors.
I found the AC by J salesman (Steve) to be very knowledgeable about Trane's equipment, and he matched the equipment that I needed without overselling.
The install crew (led by another Steve) arrived on time on the date the install was scheduled, carefully removed the existing equipment, made several modifications to my return ducting to improve efficiency, performed a very neat install of the new equipment, and thoroughly cleaned up my garage area upon completion of their work. Steve also scheduled a follow-up, one-month inspection of my installation with their quality control specialist.
AC by J was very professional and well-organized in their approach to my installation, and their prices were competitive. This company is on top of its game, and I have already recommended them to several Terravita neighbors.

I called AC by J because my AC went out in the afternoon heat here in Arizona. I first contacted my home warranty company and was extremely disappointed in their lack of customer service and cooperation. The technician, Darren, came out and was perhaps the most friendly and informative technician I have ever met. The AC was fixed in an hour and I had relief from the 110 degree heat. I will continue to pay out of pocket for this company to service my AC and I will ask for Darren to be dispatched the call if possible. Absolutely fantastic. I highly recommend them :)
Ac by J came to my home to service my water heater and ac in the past year. The first time they came out last year, Victor came. He was awesome and was very fair and not pushing hard sale. I really respected that concerning the year before I went with ACE and had the worst experience. This year, Ralph came to service my water heater and checked the plumbing in my home. Collin came to service my ac. I am a single female and always have to be concerned if someone doesn't see a male they may try to snowball me. These guys were, polite, honest, respectful and seemed like family. I did have a major problem with one employee of there's before Ralph came to repair my hot water heater. AC by J, immediately responded to my concern about that employee and Ralph was so applogetic and stated that is not their philosophy and rectified the problem. He assured me that he had addressed the concerns about that employee and it will never happen to another customer again. I will recommend this company to anyone. I am on the Board of Directors for my HOA and I am going to make sure our community members know about AC by J. They are fantastic and I HIGHLY recommend them. IN desperation my son call this company late sat. night for a sun. emergency visit as the A/C in his condo went out. They showed up on time. The tech. did his analysis and found a capacitor out. Then came the gloom and dome sells pitch. They do a detailed printed outline of their findings. They noted a very slight undercharge of the freon. The fix lasted 3 days. Because I have a trusted A/C company I called them out to see what they think without telling them of any of the A/C by J findings. The reason that the fix lasted only 3 days was found to be that the freon fill port caps had been loosened and the valve stems jared just enough for the freon to leak out. This was deliberate in my view, considering the pressure the tech put on in his dome and gloom speech. This fix cost me $400 just to refill the freon. In the analysis that my trusted tech gave showed that much of the A/C by J anlaysis was trumped up or bogus.DO NOT Call THIS COMPANY.
I recently had Todd Collins come out from AC by J to do my plumbing inspection. I did not know what to expect. Todd checked things like my RO unit which I did not think would be included. He drained my water heater and checked all the plumbing in the bathrooms etc. He was pleasant and professional. When this service was originally sold to me, I guess I had a misconception of what the service would include. I thought they would check the P-traps and drains in the bathroom but I guess not. When I read my email for the invoice he sent I was quite surprised that he quoted me a new water heater and as far as I know nothing is wrong with mine except it is over 10 years old. I thought the prices were too high on the plumbing so I don't think I would use them for my plumbing, but for the amount I paid for the service, at least I got my water heater drained.
AC by J is one company I would avoid. The AC business in the valley is not much differernt than a used car lot but this company is among the worst. Very much focused only on profit and not integrity nor quality. First off the salesperson was nothing but a liar and kept saying the prices that were not only out of the ballpark but unrealistic. With research done both over the phone and internet I found they only wanted to fluff there pocket books in the short term and seem to not understand the focus of long term relationship which is what will alllow a company to withstand time. I shopped around to find that there price quote was 1000's yes 1000's above the true cost of the unit and the explanations given were nothing but smoke and mirrors. Reason I did try them was beause a family member had used them but did find out there were issues with the service given to my family member. My best advice is to truly shop around and do your reseach. Don't allow yourself to be tricked into a pressure buy and make a mistake you will only regret.

I moved here a year ago and have used AC by Jays since moving here. They are great to work with--from the ladies in the office to my technician, Jorge Gutierrez. Had my AC checkup today and he went over everything with me, got me the information on the warranty (which I did not get when I bought the house) and advised me on what I should consider. He was neat and very professional. I would recommend them to anyone.

Great service - the technician was very accommodating, informative, and knowledgeable about the older air conditioner for a home we were possibly purchasing. He went the extra mile and waited for the realtor to show and open the home.
After using AC by J for several years, I feel that I can give an accurate review. We have been extremely happy with the quality and service that we have received for both our plumbing and AC/heating needs. For plumbing, Charley L. was here yesterday and did a fantastic job of replacing some sink stoppers, our RO filters, flushing our hot water heater, the works. We couldn't be happier with the quality and professionalism we have seen with this company.
We have been very pleased with the service and feel that this company is honest, something that is in short supply in the valley. We required a new AC/furnace the sale and installation was done in a very professional and timely way. The Sales rep, Kara, and the installation team of Eric, Josh and Steve took great care of our house and were extremely competent and knowledgeable. The followup QA visit by Steve was a great, unexpected touch, demonstrating the company's interest in quality and reliability.
Questionable service. My husband was worried about our condensation line (last year it leaked into our wall), so we called to have them come out and see what was up since no water was coming out. Apparently though, the weather was still to dry to have any condensation building up. But, for whatever reason, the technician decided to go outside and look at the condenser, not sure why since it doesn't have anything to do with the condensation line (which is on the opposite side of the house). So he was out there tinkering around and doing whatever and then came back in the house and of course found something to fix on the furnace and charged us $175. A few days later our ac stopped working. I called up AC by J and asked what was up. They sent someone out again and the technician said a fuse blew...hmm, how convenient, considering it was working just fine until the previous tech came out and tinkered around with it. Of course it was Sunday and they had to charge us double!!! A few days later, the ac stopped working AGAIN! We called AC by J and they told us they would of course have to charge us if it didn't have anything to do with their previous work. We had had enough of AC by J ruining our system, we decided to go with another company. The other company came out and found a little problem (probably caused by AC by J) that they said was causing the fuse to blow. Our ac has been working great ever since. I DO NOT RECOMMEND AC BY J.

It was after 5 pm when I realized that my A/C wasn't working as my house was getting hot. It was July 8th, so it was a hot and humid evening. I called my normal A/C repairman and he said that he could come by and check it out the next day. The family wasn't going to be able to sleep as the house was at 86 degrees at the thermostat and that isn't even the hottest area of my home. I went on-line to find an after hours A/C repair service. Luckily my 1st call was to AC by J. The dispatcher told me that she had a tech not to far away on another job. While she and I spoke, the tech called in as he was finished on a job, so she sent him to my house. Within a 1/2 hour of my 5:30 call, he was at my house. Within another 1/2 hour he had my A/C fixed, it was a bad capacitor. I was elated with their pricing as my total charge, parts and labor, was $239. By bed time, the house had cooled down enough for comfortable sleep. I deleted my old A/C guy from my cell phone and replaced him with AC by J!
