HISTORY


Established in 1912.
Originally founded in 1912 by Arthur Seider with William Pergande, Pergande & Seider Hardware was located at 2301 West Hopkins Street in Milwaukee. Arthur later purchased Pergandes share of the business and changed its name to Seider Hardware. During the Depression, two of Arthurs four children, Hilbert and Harold, were recruited as employees. Three generations later, Bryan Seider (son of the late Harold Seider) and Mark Seider (son of the late Hilbert Seider) serve as co-owners of the family businesses.

After a recommendation from a neighbor and fellow Yelper, I contacted Seider for a quote. Even though I sent an email request, I received a phone call in response (if I wanted to do this over the phone, wouldn't I have called). While I was not crazy about Pam in our initial interaction, she got better over time.

After comparing multiple bids, I selected Seider, their Daikin Central Air unit came with an almost unheard of 12 year parts and labor warranty. With a little back and forth with Todd on a time for installation, we were all set. Pam and I scheduled the day and time and sure enough, the installers were there exactly when Pam said they would be.

Just two minor quibbles that prevented five stars here: 1) After installation, the installers left behind some screws on the floor that I naturally stepped on in stocking feet several days later. 2) The electrician asked before using my bathroom, but did not feel the need to wash his hands afterwards.

Everything else was great and I would use them again in the future.

My husband spoke with Rebecca to schedule an appointment for a bath remodel quote. The appointment was made with Ben the electrician, but she was also going to see if Mike their plumber would be available. Never got a call back about the plumber, and the electrician never showed.

We have been using Seider Heating, Plumbing and Electrical for our HVAC needs for our 2 units. Josè came out to service our 2 AC units. I couldn't be there so my son let him in and left. I had a complete stranger in my house to service my HVAC units. He completed the yearly maintenance in addition to repairing the 2nd unit that wasn't working. He diagnosed the issue, fixed it and all is good. I completely trusted him to be at my house on his own. Very reputable and reliable company. Seider is the best!

Full disclosure...i asked a friend for a referral when I needed some furnace work done and was having trouble picking via yelp.  
Seider had someone answering the phone even tho they were not open which was a definite plus to me.  I'd prefer to talk to a human instead of a machine up front even if they can't answer all my questions immediately.

They took my info and had a tech call me. They estimated a big window for service (5+hrs) but when all was said and done the tech was at my door within an hour of my initial call.  
Brandon was very polite and solved the problem quickly.
It looks like they will do heating, cooling and plumbing throughout Milwaukee, Waukesha, (and possibly) Washington counties.
I would definitely recommend!

I am so disgusted with Seider. I was looking for an electrical contractor to do a big job. I had someone come to our home who proceeded to lie and oversell his qualifications from the get go. He assured me he was able to pull permits and do the work. Sure enough a Seider truck and employee show up on schedule. Great right? Wrong! The employe turns out to be doing side work with his father and start putting holes and cutting wire in my walls. The work is disastrous to say the least. They are a no show and no call after multiple attempt. I will definitely be contacting an attorney and filing a complaint with the state. Be careful is scam artists folks

In the summer of 2017 we found out that our boiler that was original to our 1925 home was leaking gas. We contacted several heating and air companies throughout the Milwaukee area to find out if our boiler could be repaired or what the cost would be to do a complete overhaul of our heating system. My husband has OCD when it comes to home improvement projects. He will call out several companies, grade them on various items (call back time, customer service, estimate experience, etc.), and weigh all the pros and cons. We had about 10 companies/services come out concerning our boiler and although most of them agreed, it made most sense to take the boiler out and put in a new furnace and possibly AC (which whoooo hooo we had been using window units), some companies didn't call us back with estimates when they saw the scope of our project.

Seider was fabulous from day one. They sent various estimates with multiple options to us quickly. I think my husband initially dealt with John for the estimates and he was in constant contact with us. We found out during this project (from more than just Seider) that it also made economical sense to get rid of our 20 year old water heater as well since this would now be the only system running through our outdated chimney. Seider worked with us to determine where we wanted the exhaust and intake pipes on our home and suggested we wait a few weeks extra to start for some of their more seasoned staff.

It took one day for all of our pipes, radiators, the boiler that was cemented into our basement floor, and our old hot water heater to be removed. Then it took the next two days to build the vent system for the new furnace and AC, the install of both those units and the hot water heater. The main team for our job was Pete and Bobby and they we also really great to work with. I initially owned my home alone and I can't tell you how many creepy service people I've had out. Pete, Bobby, and anyone else that happened to come on by, were all professional and warm. I was about 7 months pregnant when all of this was going on and it was nice to be able to work from home with them in the house and not feel unsure or unsafe with basically strangers around.

Once the job was done Pete did a great job of explaining how to apply for energy credits that we qualified for and walking us through how the new system worked and how to maintain it between service calls.

If we could give more than 5 stars we would! We literally cannot say enough positive things about our experience. Our neighbors also noticed how much work was going on and were very complimentary of the staff and their efficiency.

We called Seider because their name was on the boiler at our house that we bought last year. It took two tries to get them to show up at the right day and time for an initial quote, then they scheduled the actual repair twice and didn't have the part and didn't let us know until the last minute so we wasted two full days waiting for a repair man who wasn't able to make a repair anyway. Poor communication and customer service. Ended up calling somebody else.

We recently had our 23-year-old furnace begin to break down, and went with Seider for initial diagnosis. It amounted to three visits and all three repairmen were very friendly and helpful.

When it became obvious the lifespan of the furnace was reaching its end, we went with Seider to get a new Carrier Infinity high efficiency.

I can't say enough good things about the gentleman who came to present options for new furnaces. He wasn't at all pushy. He presented his recommendation option, and when I expressed interest in also replacing our Aprilaire, he talked me out of it, since the unit was functioning just fine.

In a matter of a day, they came in and installed the new furnace.

I would strongly recommend Seider for repairs and new installs -- they were professional, competent, and friendly. Great experience all around.

Our 22 year old Rheem system needed replacement, we were quoted by six companies, Seider won the business because they had a fair price that was explained in detail and was done with full transparency. The Daikin 12 year parts and labor warranty sealed the deal.
Todd Seider was the person quoting the project and was straight forward and honest. The heating with the new furnace is awesome, the technology with the app on the phone is easy to use. We are very happy and appreciate all Seider has done for us, frank and Tom are excellent installers too.

I left my contact info on Seider's website to ask about getting my AC replaced. Someone contacted me quickly and we set up an appointment for an estimate the next day. The guy arrived on time, and clearly explained what I needed. I okayed the work, and the workers came (again, on time) just two days later and set it up quickly. Absolutely smooth experience and I'm very pleased.

We arranged to have them check out a furnace at our property in Milwaukee and explained that no one would be able to meet them because we live out of state. We gave them a different way to get in.

They came, but the message must not have gotten passed through and so the service guys left because no one answered.

When we called to ask what happened they stated we'd still need to pay for the diagnostics visit. Eff no. Inconsiderate - if it were me, I'd try to at least call again to see if there was some miscommunication.

Poor internal communication and a waste of our time. Didn't want to budge on not charging our credit card but I can assure the world that we will not be paying for a visit that we had arranged properly on our end, but they botched.

Entirely not recommended.

Listen....Seider maintained the HVAC at this house before we bought it and we've kept them maintaining and upgrading the systems the last two years.  What I appreciate is their advice to move us from Carrier to Daikin (a brand I never heard of).   That sent me on a research binge where I learned about the company and it's history of manufacturing various brand we know and love, along with the Daikin brand too.    Overall, I appreciate a trusted partner in maintaining our systems and counseling us wisely to move away from a point of comfort to systems that are vastly better than our previous brands.

Prompt, professional service-even when our heat was out New Years Eve, Mike came to our home (the following day, after confirming we could wait and had another heat source)
Even when things were clearly not going well, he stayed calm. Further work needed to be completed (original setup was all wrong...) and all is well now. The 2 who finished replacing the pipes today did a great job as well. Clean, courteous, friendly-even after an awfully cold week!

The Seider installation crew of Kelly and Tony did a wonderful job installing my new furnace/air conditioning this October. They both were not only very cheerful and friendly but also were extremely professional as they went about their work. The job was completed in a timely fashion and in a very clean manner. Kelly explained the workings of the furnace before I had to leave for work.
I also want to mention what a nice surprise I had when I came home from work later that day. Before Kelly and Tony arrived in the morning I had removed the doors from the doorways that I knew they would be moving items through. I had ever attention of hanging the doors back on myself. But much to my surprise when I arrived home after work I found the doors where put back on! That was very classy.
I have to mention too that the salesperson Tyler also did a fantastic job in presenting Seider Heating to me when he came to my house to submit a quotation. I felt very comfortable in dealing with Tyler and he explained the quotation in a clear and easy manner.
It was a job well done!!

Interesting call I just had with them ... The sensor of my water heater has been acting up and called them to see if they could come check it out as they were the one who installed it.  By coincidence, the warranty covering parts expires today. The lady on the phone told me that labor would be $120/hour but parts would not be covered under the warranty as they would only be able to come later this week or next and it would past the warranty date!? I was taken aback by her response and told her it didn't make sense. She quickly backtracked when I told her I would report them to the BBB. Will not use.

Our furnace was on the fritz. Seider was the first company we called. The technician came over rather quickly but determined that since the Carrier Furnace was old, he didn't want to diagnose the problem but instead wanted to let us know that we needed a new furnace. He listed on the repair service form that it would take $500.00 in parts to get back in operation. He thought we needed a new blower motor and a new gas valve. We paid $79.00 for this information. Seider then sent a salesperson out to give us quote--$3300.00 for a new furnace and could be installed the next day.

We ended up calling a more reputable service company (General Heating in Butler, WI) where he came and diagnosed the problem in 10 minutes. He replaced the ignitor--$15.00 part and blew water out of the Pressure switch tube which was the cause of the problem. Furnace works great. He said there is nothing wrong with your blower motor or gas valve. He originally thought it was the pressure switch but noticed the water bubble in the line.

Sieder has a lot of mouths to feed. These guys are much more interested in you getting new equipment than actually fixing what you have. I'd steer clear of these guys

This is a general message to management:
Tonight November 7th 2013 at 10:30, One of your technicians (would not give name) Came to fix a heating issue (unfounded or not) and proceeded to yell so loud at my neighbor that the entire floor could hear. He stated, I am a family man. So are we my mother and many of her friends have used your company for over thirty years. New furnace and air conditioning installed two months ago. Our relationship may end, due to extremely poor customer relations and, technicians not properly trained. My neighbors are special needs people and, may not speak up. I had to intervene as he was shouting so loud.   The afternoon of November sixth a different technician was there and preformed a task on the valve. (Initial problem, Thermostat set to 72, condo temperature 82)  They paid the bill. All of the, afore mentioned is not a problem. If your company has problems dealing with customers, and/or anger management issues. They need to be resolved immediately. Also I went to take a picture of the van license and, truck number but, he peeled out so fast it was not possible.

We recently needed a new air conditioning unit installed.  These guys are as good as it gets.  The installers were friendly, made sure they didn't soil any carpeting while going in and out of the basement and put everything back where they found it when finished.  Just a great job at a very reasonable price.  Even Todd, who was much older than the other gentlemen that did the installation, pitched in and helped.  I was very impressed with the efficiency and would recommend them to anyone.  Great job.

We had an air conditioner,  heater, and water heater installed in one day. It was hailing and terrible weather for this but you could never tell after the installation. The crew cleaned up so nicely. They patched the old hole where the thermostat was and explained all the features of the equipment and how to use. Everything was complete in 6 hours and all our paperwork was filled out for our rebates. Great company to work with from the salesperson who came out for our estimate, to the installation, to the follow up from the office.
