Hired Sergui and his Team from Volta Electrical for two projects. The first was a whole house recessed lighting project. Upon first meeting, we were greeted by Sergui who was super friendly and helpful. He had a great eye for design as well as described the project and the process thoroughly. After initial meeting it was very tough to get a formal quote sent to us. Eventually we got it, but now he said it was $200 more. We just agreed and the project went smooth. The recessed lighting looked great and we were very happy. The only thing we didn't like was that they were very messy after install. There were wire insulation shavings and loose screws everywhere on the ground. It was a little annoying, but we just cleaned it up ourselves.
Our second project we hired Sergui and his Team again for some under cabinet kitchen lighting. We discussed pricing and asked for a quote. Sergui gave us a price verbally and we thought we were all set. We still asked for a formal quote like last time and he agreed. We never received a quote though which we asked for for a few more times. The next thing we heard was that he was available for installation which we setup. They showed up and installed the cabinet lighting, which looked great! The problem was when we were billed, it was a lot higher than we discussed, which was exactly why we asked for the quote many times. We tried to clarify with Sergui and asked why it was so much higher and he became defensive and said he never told us that price. My Wife confirmed that he did and we explained we would have never agreed on the work if it were higher than we discussed. We even wrote it down in our own notes. We asked if we could meet somewhere in the middle. After a very aggressive conversation on his side he said he would adjust the invoice to our original discussed price, in which we paid. He said he would wave the credit card fee so he wouldn't have to meet us in person. He threw in our face that he helped change some light bulbs for us for free and prioritized our work. We thanked him for that, but we asked him to do those things in which he agreed to do. Otherwise, we would have either paid him, found someone else to do it, or did it ourselves. He then apologized for the mix up. Like the first project , they left a mess with insulation wire shavings all over our new floor.
We thought we were good, but later had issues with our under cabinet kitchen lights not coming on. We reached back out to Sergui to let him know the lights were having issues and asked for his help. However, we have never heard back. I didn't expect him to honestly, as he seemed very angry about the misunderstanding and pretty much wanted nothing to do with us. But I thought maybe he could be a professional and at least stand by his work. We ended up getting another electrician to fix the issue.
I can say that the initial meeting is warm and friendly and the work is good. However, communication afterwards makes you feel like you are ghosted and I would highly recommend you get a formal quote before any work is done. It is disappointing that Sergui is not returning our calls or communication after the misunderstanding. Hire them at your own risk. Just be aware of the above and definitely don't get in a disagreement or expect good communication. Work is good. Professionalism, communication, and customer service is poor.
Update: in response to Sergui. We agree you did give us two options: 1) For line in 2) For low voltage.
However, I would like to correct you as we did not elect to pay for option 1 price for option 2 work. We agreed to pay for the actual work you told us. We have audio and video recording of the whole conversation through our Ring cameras. We are hoping we don't have to go to the next step and link it to this review.
We do not appreciate you giving false information in response of still rectifying that you were in the right and framing us that we were the one's confused. Secondly, you have our contact info. If you truly wanted to correct the issue, you would be the one to reach out to the customer. Not have the customer chase you. This has been consistent in other reviews as well.
We have already moved on and corrected the work with a more reliable option. Let this be a lesson in customer service for you for the future.
