Our electricity started to flicker on and off.  Then we list most of our circuits.  Black Lion was out the same day.  They had two recommendations and suggested that we try the less expensive one first.  

The following day they rewired from the public service to the D box.  They sent pictures of the old and new wire and equipment.  We are 100% satisfied with their work and the reasonable cost.  But most importantly, they fit us in and gave us an affordable option rather than running the bill up.

Would give them negative stars if I could. My friend and I were nearly t-boned when one of their trucks fully blew through a red light the other day. We grabbed the plate and my friend followed up with the company by e-mailing to let them know, figuring they might want to know what their employees are up to as this kind of behavior could be a liability for them. But why were we not surprised that absolutely no one took the time to respond. They apparently don't care about the communities in which they do business. Really unprofessional. Safe to say we'll never be calling Black Lion for HVAC if this is how they run their business.

Ghosted.  Such a weird experience with Black Lion.  We contracted them to replace our Furnace, AC and Heat Pump, and the job was done seemingly well.  At the end of the job we signed up for the 10 year service and warranty offer and they went on their way.  This was a $16K job.

Following the work we never heard any more from Black Lion, seemingly paperwork for our service contract and warranty was never processed, and the permit was never submitted to the city.

A few months later we had a sensor issue that stopped the heat pump from working so we called Black Lion a couple of times and left messages, no one ever called us back.  Eventually someone did answer the phone and we scheduled for a tech to come out and fix the issue plus service our equipment.  Sadly the tech never showed up, and our follow up calls went unanswered and messages not responded to.

I finally left them one more message explaining the whole situation and asking them for a call back or else I'm going the 1 star review route, still nothing.  Oh well.

We now have to find another company to repair and service our HVAC equipment.  None of this makes sense to us since surely they would want to retain their customers over the long term but seemingly they could care less.

Had them install a heat pump last year. It kept freezing up throughout the summer and had multiple attempts by them to fix it unsuccessfully. After maybe 5 visits, someone figured out they forgot to remove a line metering device during installation. Now, it barely heating the house and I can't get them to come service it. Their office service is the worst. They rarely answer the phone, never respond to messages on voicemail, email or the website and if by chance you manage to get hold of them, availability is a few weeks in the future. Add to that that twice they just never showed up.
Bottom line, a combination of incompetence and bad service.

I took the day off for my anual heat pump service that was scheduled by Samantha since early June for today (7/25/22).  Not only was Black Lion a no show, no return calls or apology.

It obvious by the lack of professionalism and communication, Black Lion doesn't value return business.

We used Black Lion to install a new Mitsubishi ductless air-conditioning/heating system about five years ago in one of my rental units.  All went well with that installation. No problems whatsoever. A few years ago, we had a Freon leak, so we called them back to seal the leak. Again, no problems.

Last week, our A/C stopped working. Lots of air being pushed around, but it wasn't cold. I left several messages over the weekend and earlier this week with Black Lion. Absolutely NO return calls, even after leaving detailed voicemail messages. I really didn't expect them to come out this week because of the high temps and obviously high demand for their services. I would have been happy if they just called back and said they couldn't service my unit until next month. Instead...NOTHING. Are they still in business?

Long story short. I found a NEW go-to company for my HVAC needs for all of my rental units and personal home in the future. They came out today, two days after scheduling my service with Yelp, and did a great job. They weren't exactly cheap (who is these days?), but at least they showed up, knew what to do, and fixed my problem.

I am especially loyal to companies when I have had a good experience in the past, but sometimes it is time to move on - especially when they don't have the courtesy to even respond to an inquiry.

Are they still even in business?

We had them replace an old furnace with a heat pump and the install was a complete mess. I won't belabor the details but basically the estimator guy totally screwed all the measurements and prep and so the install ended up taking an incredible amount of time and required extensive changes to make it work. In the end we did get a working heater but there was also a lot of messy work I just decided to accept rather than drag out the farce any more.

Their work was supposed to have some kinda warranty and its developed problems but I cannot get anyone to respond from the company. They ignore voice mails and never answer the phone. Even if they answer your call I wouldn't hire them considering you may never hear from them again.

Spent over 26k the last couple of years and $17 this past September on addition of heat pump trusting it all will work and they will make good. Constant problems and excuse by Black Lion why they can't make it work or come out timely.  Parts, too busy, broken down van and then trying to reschedule 5 days later when we have no consistent heat.  Completely ripped off by this company. Will be calling Bryant the manufacturer of the equipment for help.  Have been patient.  Nice Christmas in a frozen home.

Even after 9 months of installation they are still struggling to get permit from City. I had to send 50+ email and phone calls follow-up and still issue is not resolved. They make false commitments and just delay the process. I am still in discussion to get the issue resolved and if it wont work out next step would be to sue them for failing on agreement (Fortunately I have  legal assistance plan provided by my employer, which I will make use of).

Had new high efficiency furnace installed and company installed the exhaust and intake pipes incorrectly.  The exhaust pipe was dripping water into the attic as well as venting the exhaust steam into the attic space which should be exhausted outside the home.   After a section of the ceiling collapsed I called Black Lion and a technician came out to evaluate the situation and stated the exhaust and intake pipes were installed incorrectly, the exhaust pipe was venting into the attic rather than outside the home.  The technician fixed the issue on the time of evaluation.  However, there was extensive mold damage to the attic space and eventual water damage that caused a section of the ceiling to collapse (repair is estimated to be $8,400).  In working with Black Lion to have a resolution to the mold damage to the attic and ceiling they have denied any wrong doing with the installation due to roofers installing a new roof and claiming that the roofers must have done something to alter the functioning of the furnace installation.  No one has touched the furnace since it was installed by Black Lion.  They have chosen to not take responsibility for the incorrect installation.

Very poor communication and disorganized scheduling.   An hour before a service appointment they cancelled without any further follow up.

I called and scheduled service maintenance on a residential boiler they had installed 8 years ago and had serviced a few years after that.   They scheduled for a Friday afternoon and called to confirm with us the day before.  Then a hour before the appointment, they called to cancel and say they didn't have a technician available that afternoon and would call and reschedule.   By Wed the following week with still no word, so I called them.

They abruptly advise that they no longer work on boilers and cannot help me.   No excuse or apology on why they scheduled, confirmed, and then abruptly cancelled; or why they never followed up to advise they would not be rescheduling.   They didn't even have a referral to who might now service the boiler they installed only 8 yrs ago.   Thank goodness I didn't sign up for the maintenance contract they tried to sell me 4 years ago.

I have been trying to reach them for over a week.  I had a new furnace installed last year that is not turning on this year.  I have 4 different phone numbers for them that I've tried with out success.  They all seem to go to voice mail.  I did get one callback from them that I missed, but I haven't been able to get back in touch with them after subsequent messages.  I've used them for a number of years to service my old furnace and to install my new one.  Never had a problem with them before this.  I'll update my review if I hear back from them.

Very disappointing experience.

Contacted Black Lion for a second bid on the labor cost of replacing a mitsubishi heat pump. I was transparent on wanting a warranty claim as the heat pump is 4 years old and the issue is a known defect. I also let them know they did not do the original install.

Black lion would only do an 'in person' bid. The technician came out and in 15 minites reconfirmed what I already knew.

The next day I received the $200 call out invoice, which I paid.

The next day I followed up and inquired on when to expect an estimate. I got a response that they don't do warranty claims for installations they didn't do. That was it, no bid, nothing.

I get not wanting to deal with warranties, that is fine. But, they should have been upfront and not wasted my time and money.

I was transparent on what I was requesting. If they say I wasn't, it's because their customer service rep did not take the time to listen.

I then requested that since I paid them already and they weren't willing to reverse the charges, could I atleast get a quote on the labor install of a heat pump. I wanted to see if the other bid i had was fair market. They refused.

If customer service is not willing to take a few minutes and actually listen to you. Move on. I should have.

Customer service is awful. I scheduled Black Lion to come out to my home today (2/15/22) for an annual maintenance on a year old furnace. Appointment time between 8-10am, Sarah called at 7:59am to tell me the technician called out sick and they would have to reschedule. I explained that I had to take time off work and asked if they could come on a Saturday so I didn't have to take a 2nd day off work. She said no, so I explained that I would have to take more time away from work, which costs money, and asked what they typically do for customers. All she said was sorry, we can reschedule you, and she followed it with we're not paying you to miss work (never asked her to).

People get sick, I understand that. But when your company is inconveniencing customers, the least you can do is offer a discount to show some goodwill toward your customers. In this case, a 10% discount would have amounted to $16.50, but would have retained a customer. Needless to say, I did not reschedule and I won't be using Black Lion in the future.

Had an aprilaire filter, remi halo, and a new return plenum made to accommodate the limited space. They charged me 6 grand to do this work. It took about 3.5 hours to do, and they never sealed the return ducts or insulated the return plenum (required by code since it's in a vented attic). The crew knew next to nothing about static air pressure of the system or the implications of the duct work on the overall performance.

Bottom line: not knowledgable, overpriced, and a lack of craftsmanship.

Don't use this company. They installed my furnace in 2015 and all was well. Over the years the quality of service has fallen. Cancelled appointments, no shows, no return calls. They have only one tech who services their customers (per employee). The tech that came out, came unprepared with the wrong filter and no c02 meter. He tried to install a one inch filter in a four inch space. The dimensions of the correct filter were printed in large letters on the space where the filter was to be inserted. If the tech can't even get the filter right, who wants him servicing the furnace. No confidence in Black Lion. They wanted to send the same tech out to fix the problem. I said NO THANK!

Shady. We had them come out for a quote on a new AC installation. I mentioned that we had a UV light that was out, they said they did not carry the same brand (no big deal) but I wanted a quote so he did that then left. He was here less than 7 minutes, and suddenly he's ringing my doorbell again. I stopped a work meeting to answer and he tells me that I had to pay $165. FOR WHAT?!

I am a general contractor with 15 years in the business.  I hired Black Lion to install a Heat Recovery Ventilator in my own house that I built.  The owner Ben claimed to have knowledge and installers to perform the installation.  He also claimed to have one of these systems in his house. Having never installed one of these HRV systems before on any of my projects, I put my trust in Ben & Black Lion.

The crew installed the system and it doesn't work right.  After 3 weeks of continuous calls to both Ben the owner and his office staff, I finally got Ben & the crew to come back out and attempt a fix.  Once the fix was attempted, no CFM measuring was done.  The crew didn't even have the equipment to measure CFM.  This is when I realized that they didn't know how to install these systems correctly.  

I later hired a 3rd party HVAC consultant to check out the system and measure the CFMs of the system.  Well turns out that I'm only getting about 1/3rd of the airflow that I'm supposed to be getting.

I've spent yet more weeks at this point trying to get them back out to help me fix the problem to NO AVAIL.  I've even done research on how to fix the issues and have offered up several solutions... Still radio Silence! No returned phone calls or emails.

It's very disappointing to be weeks from completing your dream home and having an issue like this. Even worse to have a company that doesn't give a crap!

If you're looking for someone who will actually stand behind their installation LOOK FOR SOMEONE ELSE!

I would never leave a customer hanging like this. Terrible service.

Just a head up to everyone. They are not responsive at all, the customer service phone line is directly link to a voicemail service.

I hired them to service my furnace and A/C two months ago and my furnace is not working ever since. The technician did not quality check when he complete the job. I called back customer service number, it ALWAYS directly link to a voice Mail service. Finally, I am able to speak to a rep, she said they can have a technician come out to take a look next day. But guess what.... They send the technician to a wrong address ( my rental ), and as I try to call them back..,, straight to voice mail.

I used Black Lion for few years in multiple properties & spent closed to $15k to rebuild and maintenance furnace system. I feel like their service and quality has significantly worsen lately. I don't think I will use this company moving forward.

The system they installed for me two years ago was a few thousands dollars than my neighbor's. After just two years the ac/ heating stop working and the technicians was here twice, still not fixing it. Now I call the office since last week, no one answer or call back. What a headache!

Christmas Eve I woke up frozen. I wondered downstairs to find the furnace was not working.
I thought I had not chance of finding help till after the holidays and so Christmas would be a cold uncomfortable affair.

I called Blacklion and was delighted to hear a helpful friendly lady pick up immediately, listen and tell me she could have a technician to me in 90 minutes on CHRISTMAS EVE!!! He was a diagnostic genius, polite, engaging and professional.
JJ fixed my furnace, then came back to make adjustments to my thermostat that was neded at 5 PM to ensure I was all set. They are responsive and follow up return requests immediately.

I highly recommend this company, so give them a call for well priced red carpet customer service for heating amd AC. Give them call today and you will be in good hands.

After living in Seattle for 2 years and following the advice of Seattleites saying, you don't need an AC here, summers are mild. We found ourselves sweating to death in 95 degrees afternoons inside the house, wearing wet t-shirts to keep cool, hiding in the basement trying to sleep with all fans in 85+ degrees nights, or not being able to open windows because of the fires in September, so being hot and smoky. After our second summer, we said enough is enough. Called these folks, working with Charlie, who is a rockstar, who hooked us up with a sweet AC unit that works for our home, which is a bit smaller than the regular one. He was a text away through the process, they kept the communication flowing and were on time and flexible to work with us. The crew took a day to get all connected and ensured that they did it the way we wanted. We had very limited space, so they were kind enough to route lines through closets, ceilings, and corners so we don't lose space. From a Nevada transplant to the new Seattle comers, my advice is to get an AC, and get it from BlackLion you will not be disappointed, thank you, guys.

$750 for 4lb refrigerant recharge? I feel like I need to go see the proctologist for the screwing I got today to avoid having my family suffer from the heat.

This is why I think Washington AC repair businesses are criminals that only pimps and movers can match.

I will say I was happy with the wonderful scheduling team and the tech who was just doing his job and did it well. I am also glad to be up and going again after a short visit which was literally done while I was picking my family up at SeaTac (30 minutes round trip drive time) plus time waiting at airport.

This is purely a billing complaint- not a quality of service complaint.

Update 2: AC finally passed inspection, just 7 MONTHS after it was installed. To achieve that Black Lion provided fraudulent paperwork to show they had completed work they in fact never completed. This company is willing to flat out lie to get the job done, they are horrible. Take your business elsewhere.

Black Lion installed my furnace and air conditioning system 3 years ago, so it is still a fairly new unit. At the time of installation they did a good job, but during freezing temperatures this week my furnace stop working and needed emergency repair. Black Lion was completely missing in action. Called them multiple times but only goes directly to voicemail. No call backs. I had to hire another company to do the repair. Where has this company gone? It's inexcusable that they do not answer their phones or return calls to support their customers in time of need! Recommend you use a different provider who actually is there when you need them, because this company delivered a complete fail on service.

Update as of 11am 11/8- Black Lion just came out and fixed the issue quickly, so I am updating review from 1 to 3 stars, but wish it didn't take such an escalation to get someone out to our house.

TL;DR- do not expect good customer service, understanding, or support from Black Lion when dealing with any emergencies.

I had Black Lion install a furnace for us in Dec 2020. While the process was professional enough, it is now early November 2021 and our furnace has stopped working. Of course our furnace went out Friday evening and they do not have a 24/7 emergency line. Because I have an infant, we had to stay at my in-laws while they were out of town Friday and Saturday night to ensure we had heat. I left a message with Black Lion expecting a call this morning during business hours when they opened, but I had to actually follow-up with them and call them back myself. It is now Monday morning, our house is in the low 50's, and they said they could not come out until tomorrow, Tuesday, between 9-11am. Only when I asked how they planned to cover our hotel room cost because of my infant and getting disconnected / hung up on twice did they say they could make it out between 12-5pm today. I have a feeling I will need to call them later to ensure they do actually make it out today because Black Lion seems to have no sense of support or urgency. Again, this is a brand new furnace that is under warranty.

Same deal as some of the others.  They called to confirm annual service appt but day was different than initially scheduled.  Fine...I can live with that.  Guy came out and did the work while we were out of town on vacation.  Came back two days later and the HVAC won't run at all.  Tech had to have done something wrong.  Called and let them know and scheduled for them to come get it running.  A week later they cancelled right before meeting due to employee family emergency.  Ok, things happen.  What I can't handle is having to be the one to call them two days later to try and reschedule.  I responded to the cancelling text 24 hours later and they did not respond.  I've bought a furnace and heat pump from these guys but truly wish I had gone another direction.  Problems with both installs had occurred as well.  We've gone over a week without HVAC multiple times with these guys.  Send different guys out to fix other guys problems and they say the guy before them didn't know what he was doing.  At least 3 guys had to come out to get the new furnace running correctly.    Definite buyers remorse.

I hired Black Lion to install my floodlight above my garage door, it didn't went well in the first installment, but Adis is the man who came and fix all the work done by another electrician. Adis is very professional and friendly, I highly recommend Adis and will have him worked on other projects in my house!

It's a bit infuriating when quoted with 170 per exterior security light equipment and 650 per light installation fee. And i need to install 4 of them, so... I'm sorry but the quoted price are just a bit infuriating, and it gets more infuriating when those typical guys makes you sounds so reasonable and proud, like it's justified and anyone could afford it, you could be very good auto salesperson, just wow!

I have worked with many subcontractors and Blacklion is the worst.  Jason came out and gave me a quote to install an electrical furnace.  In the quote, the electrical furnace is to be located so that a 3'-4' walkway can be maintained.  After installation, there is only a 2' walkway.  Back lion refused to come fix it without charging me an additional $3,900.  In addition to refusing to move the furnace, they ripped out one of the supply ducts and left the oil tank which they refused to come back and handle as originally agreed.

Much like others experienced, Jason refused to answer any calls or texts and directed me to the office which is a dead end.

Lastly, once I complained about the work not being done they went ahead and charged my card in 5 random separate transactions.

Very frustrating experience!

Recently my Condensation Pump failed.  This is not a big deal to replace and they usually fail after about five years, but you must have a Condensation Pump to run my heater so it it a critical piece of equipment.  I called Blacklion, who originally installed the heater for a replacement pump.  They offered me a new pump for $202+tax.  I ended up buying the pump from Amazon for $50.00.  

Something has changed with Blacklion.  They used to be very responsive and focused on customer service.  Now I can't even get a return call from the owner, Ben Ward, after leaving three messages.

Their service technician, Everett is the best thing they have going for them.  I will only use Everett for service, but other than that I am through dealing with Blacklion.

I really wanted to give them 0 even negative starts. Stay way from this company, RUN, not walk. They installed two sets of AC/Furnace, and 1 water heater in my house in Aug, 2020. And I bought extended service contract with them given that will cover 10 years labor warranty on my AC/furnace. In the past two years, the water heater died on its own 2 times, and starting from the past weekend, it completely died. The furnace stopped working on Dec, 2021, and when I called Black Lion, they asked me to wait 2 weeks in freezing code house until their first technician to come. I have young kid and this is not acceptable so I ended up calling another company who can get this fixed. This should be included in the extended warranty as NO ONE is supposed to wait in the freezing coding house for them to dispatch a technician. I called Black Lion again and ask for a reimbursement for the fix, they said they will get back to me, but they NEVER. This morning I asked them to find someone to fix my water heater, which is still under the tank and parts warranty, they failed to find someone to come within 2 week, AGAIN. NO, run from this company, they are a SCAM, and I filed complaint to WA State Attorney general. There will be PUBLIC record for this complaint. And I highly recommend anyone consider this company to search their record in Attorney General's office, BBB etc. You will be amazed at how they can even continue with their business.

These guys installed A/C in my house and they did a good job installing.

A year later I called them for regular maintenance, initially they told me the maintenance cost is $275 which I agreed to pay. The guy came in and said motor in the unit is not clean and he charges extra for cleaning which is additional $380, and said it's gonna take few hours atleast to clean it. But he kinda did it in 5-10 minutes which is kinda suspicious. Still I agreed to pay but when I looked at the invoice the line item says he replaced the motor, so I called Black Lion to explain and after a bit of struggle they reduced to $220. Still I mentioned to them that the motor wasn't cleaned and they were not at all helpful and just wanted to get away with the money. Even then I did pay up $275 + $220 but I felt cheated. So beware! Next time you need to do A/C maintenance look somewhere else.

I had the folks from Black Lion check out my AC and then my Furnace. I both cases the answer was the same: The repair was too expensive and I would be better off completely replacing my AC and my furnace. In both cases, I called someone else and they were able to fix my appliances for a fraction of the cost.

I want to share my story, so you do the get caught in the same situation and end up paying a lot of money. Always get a second opinion when they tell you to replace your appliances.

The folks from this company are super nice and seem very knowledgeable so it is easy to get in the trap of thinking that they will have your best interest in mind.

Not saying that these guys don't know what they are doing but it seems that it is easier (and more lucrative) to recommend to completely replace everything instead of trying to replace it.

Preface: I NEVER write reviews, just joined Yelp to write this out of appreciation.

Just got a full installation from Blacklion. Furnace/AC unit/water tank. The products are amazing, the sales consultant (Tyrel) was super informative, provided options, walked me through everything with strong product knowledge and was just super cool. The install team (Mike, Brian & others) were super on it resulting in a commercial grade installation (no joke, sick!). They were good guys and worked hard, staying after hours with snow and ice on the roads to make SURE my family had heat before they left!  And I could not be more appreciative! They upgraded my house with a top of the line system for a very competitive price, and with there partnership with Home Depot, were able to provide 24 months, interest free financing.

I highly recommend this crew and Blacklion/Home depot if you need a consult and new HVAC system.  And it will probably increase your home's value, WHILE you enjoy it!

On Sunday night in Issaquah, during the artic blast this week, our house dropped to 50 degrees and we discovered our furnace was out, called a company to provide a consult the next day, gave me the window of 12-5.  Monday morning I walked into home depot to buy wood for the fireplace and space heaters for the kids' rooms (6&3), saw the add for HVAC services...

Sat down with helpful personal at Home Depot, and organized a consult at 1 that day. (Not 12-5).

Tyrel came over, we designed a solution, he quoted me a very competitive price and moved forward. Installers, lead by Mike and Brian, (on a roads closed day) were at my house at 8 am, and did not leave, until my house had heat!! Stayed late, there were electrical complications, but they creatively found temporary solutions to MAKE SURE my family had heat that night.

The next day they came back and finished everything! Top of the line furnace, AC and Water tank install, (seriously, commercial grade). Walked me through the system, made sure I knew how to recognize any issues and what to do.

These guys are amazing and deserve your business!

If i could give this company 0 stars I would. Run fast and far away from this company. The absolute worst customer service experience I have ever had. I had the diagnostic completed months ago and they kept bringing the wrong part to make the repair. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere!

My contractor scheduled an appointment with this company to install ductless heating and cooling system after my house renovation. Upon the arrival of the representative and without asking me about the information of the job project or walk around the house he immediately and without hesitation quoted $20,000 for the cost of the project. I was surprised, dumbfounded and confused. How can you give me a quote without asking what I want for my house or how big is the projects or explain to me why cost that much. This company need to learn basic customer service, products presentation and most of all be informative with your products and finances. I will never recommend this company.

We're still confused as to what happened today.
We called them for regular maintenance of our AC unit and furnace. We've had no issues at all. Just regular maintenance. Everything was working well yesterday and we just got through the worst heat wave. Somehow today the day that Black Lion comes out it's broken and needs a new fan motor. What are the chances? Too much of a coincidence. So he tells us that it's working but not as it should. I let him know we'd think about it as we needed to chat through. $800 expense. So tonight the house is heating up fast. AC is not working- first time in 8 years- again see the coincidence? Go outside and he's left a part on top of the unit! Looks like this little black circuit board or something? We plug it back in but the house is 80 degrees- it's 81 outside.
Feels like we've been scammed I'd say. We have sent at least 2 dozen referrals to them in 8 years. They won't be getting any others. No answer to calls today although their hours show they're open.

We have used them multiple times for multiple different electrical needs - installation of lights, rewiring, troubleshooting a fridge pulling too much energy - they are awesome! Adis and Jake are total pros. They clearly know what they are doing, they care for your home as if it is their own and they go the extra mile to make their customers happy. Tale of two companies: I have never written a negative review before but felt compelled to write to protect the public.

My AC heat pump went out 1.5 weeks ago, the beginning of a heat wave. I called 2 HVAC companies Black Lion and rhymes with neverseen. BL could come immediately so I agreed to pay 1/3  more $190 just for a diagnosis visit. A big mistake.  The BL serviceman came on time but immediately asked to use my bathroom. He diagnosed the problem but lamented that he did not like working with warranties. He required payment before he left, did not inform me of the parts at issue, and did not give me an estimate. Days went by with no call or estimate. I emailed BL and called the receptionist, who said Oh, I'll check into it with the distributor but no call back.  Days went by no call, no estimate, no information on what parts were defective or warranty information.

With no response, I resorted to calling the other HVAC company neverseen who sent a serviceman out the next day. Understandably, I still had to pay a new diagnosis visit fee, but $60 less than BL.  Serviceman was informative and cordial and did not ask to use my bathroom.  Within a day, their receptionist sent me a copy of two estimates, one under warranty and one not.  She identified the parts, labor, costs and limitations of the warranty. She took a copy of my registration form. She explained the situation in detail and all options/rationale to me.  

This is the difference between good and bad PR.
Needless to say I will not be doing business with this company.  Nor should you.  

I believe I am entitled to a refund.

Used them for a few years so can tell that it is worth staying away from this company. Their employees are a total hit or miss - their employees even try to undercut their employer by offering to do the work themselves for X% discount over their company's quote(which in the first place was way over market rate). And did I say they are expensive.

Always so nervous when it comes to home repairs because you hear so many horror stories but my experience with this company exceeded my expectations. I first looked to our cities fb page for recommendations on heater repair after ours started smelling like burning plastic. The fb page was filled with post after post of happy customers. I was sold. Made the appointment and they were able to come in a reasonable amount of time and gave me a decent window when they would come.
The repair man was polite and well kept. When he was done with the work he showed me exactly what was wrong instead of just telling me. It was great to actually see the Damage and not just take his word for it. Price was well below what we budgeted and I didn't feel pressured to add extra services. The repair was quick and he left the area cleaner then when he arrived.

I saw the high ratings on the Angies list and had a prior positive experience with my furncae installation, decide to hire them to fix the short circuit problem with my furnice.  
The technician was polite and prfessional and traced the problem to a faulty thermostat.
Make the story short, it cost me nearly a $1000 to have my old thermostat replaced with a wireless thermostat.  The job took 1 hour to complete.  They get high marks for their workmanship and professionalism, but at a very high  $$$$$$ cost.

This company was brought in the assess our newly installed AC unit which was freezing.  Fir thousands of dollars more they added a new coil and larger pipes.  Once it git warm we turned it on.  It still freezes so now they say we have a leak and added free- on solution fir $600.   It leaked out in 2 days. Froze again.    They came out again and said they would return.  Only they never returned our calls.  They cannot return till July 28.   . Very poor service.

The install cost us nearly 10k and so we expected a quality AC to last a long time.  

What we got:

They sent the most novice installers to my house and left huge holes unsealed where they ran the pipes to the external unit.  The unit at the furnace was obviously not sealed well, looked terrible and is not sealed properly (lots of air leaking!). The guys who did the install were clearly hacks and not properly trained.  I had to complain several times to get them to come and fix it.  They told us they would give an extra warranty due to how bad the installation went.

Now here we are less than 2 years later and it has already stopped working and they are not covering the cost.

Save yourself the headache and go somewhere else, it would be hard to do worse than this company.  This company should not be trusted.  They have let me down big time.

Began the search for an HVAC company on Yelp and the reviews that Black Lion received could not be ignored. Had three different companies out, and in the end it was Kevin Morris that sold me. He was so personable, kind, knowledgeable, and I felt he was being truly honest with me as to what would work best for our home.

Black Lion was able to get us in their schedule really quickly. The installation team arrived on time and wasted no time getting to work. Renzo, Sal and the rest of the team worked quickly and efficiently.  Thanks guys!!

The office staff then helped with permits and inspections and follow up questions.

We could not be happier with our new HVAC system. I highly recommend Black Lion for all HVAC work.

It took me a long time to find an HVAC company that I wanted to hire to install our heat pump. I must have read every Yelp review of local HVAC companies multiple times.  I am so glad that my family chose Black Lion! It started with Jason, the salesman, whom we found to be way more knowledgable and experienced than any of the salesmen who gave us quotes from other companies. The front desk staff, including Sarah and Lynai are sweet and helpful with comments like, ...if it were my home, I would.. and got me scheduled in a time frame that worked well for us. Jason showed up to the job and and even helped with some of the installation which really gained our respect and admiration for the company. The installers, Bruno and Renzo, were very professional and hard-working.

Adis, the electrician, was another hero in our experience, who went above and beyond in dealing with the electrical side of things. And he was over-the-top helpful, kind, and informative.

Parker, who made some tweaks to the system after the system was installed was on-time, on-task, and made the system work smoothly.

I really cannot say enough about the staff and superior service we received and I want to say a heart-felt thank you to Black Lion! After this experience, I know that my family is well taken care of in terms of our future HVAC needs and am confident that our house will be nice and warm this winter!

Had an issue with my furnace restarting after running for a few minutes. Was told that a new circuit board needed to be installed for $800. Parts alone was $500. I found the same circuit board online for ~$100, so decided to tackle the job myself. The rep was understanding and said this happens all of the time.

After I installed the new circuit board, I discovered it was NOT the problem, and the issue was that my Nest thermostat was stealing power from the furnace causing it to kick off. All I needed to do was wire the Nest with the common wire from the furnace circuit board. Problem solved. Not sure how much I would have spent if I had Black Lion install the circuit board, only to find out it wasn't the problem.

More troubleshooting should have been completed before recommending that a new circuit board was needed. Nest thermostats are common these days, so surprised they were not more familiar with potential furnace compatibility problems associated with it, even though they did not do the install.

Will not be using Black Lion again.

DESTROYED our perfectly working heat pump when they came to do a simple cleaning. A YEAR LATER it still wasn't fixed, and they offered ONLY A QUARTER of the replacement cost. They also refused to respond to the State Attorney General's inquiry, blocking a fair resolution. Had the technician known what he was doing, he would never have touched it, and we could've used our home warranty to cover it.

Who knows how goo they are at heating maintenance and repair? I could not even get them to show up! I made and appointment and they lost it on their books and no one in the office could figure out what happened, what was happening, and each person put me off to the next person in the office until I had spoken to four ignorant people!! Chaos and irritation is what I experienced with this company. Who needs it!? I'm looking elsewhere.

I cannot believe the reviews on the side bar, we had an excellent experience with Black Lion. They were on time, had a knowledgeable staff, and their bid was $3000 less than our highest bid. Joey and his crew installed our ceiling mount Mitsubishi AC in about six hours. It was a big job and it looks great and works perfectly. They were polite and neat too.  We're really happy. Good management at this company, thanks guys!

I've been doing business with Black Lion for a number of years and they have consistently delivered
great results. They sell and serve quality products and they are priced competitively in the marketplace. Their personnel are competent, responsible and reliable and above all, responsive when a problem arises.
Of particular note is their service manager, Scotty Lane. He is outstanding person and technician in every regard and is always on the ball to diagnose, and solve a HVAC problem efficiently and in a very timely manner.
I will not  be using any other company for my HVAC requirements to be sure!!

Initially thought they did a good job until I realized they were careless and had my condensation line dripping into my closet vs outside!  Ended up with black mold in my closet resulting in thousands of dollars of repairs.  100% their fault and then spent months having their insurance company tell me they won't cover all of the repair.  Total B.S.!  NO integrity!  Wish I could dial back time and NEVER have used them.

I had previously used Black Lion on a different home and wish I'd kept the name of the young man who first came out, as I was pleased with his service which is why I called them again for a rental property.  However, THIS TIME I'd give them a zero.

I called and set up an appointment for a tenant who said his furnace was not heating the home and he thought it was the thermostat.  I asked them to call me when 30 minutes away and to call me from the house to let me know what they found and I'd pay them over the phone with a credit card as I was out of town on business.

The tenant called me that morning to say it was now working but he still wanted them to come out so he could find out what was wrong so it didn't happen again.

INSTEAD they did NOT CALL me in advance they DID NOT call me to tell me what they found and instead proceeded to tell the tenant that they found $1400+ of other things that needed fixing. They NEVER called me for payment and my tenant said he denied the other items and paid the bill for the service call and I could reimburse him later.

I called the company immediately upon hearing this and told them I was not at all happy with them discussing this with my tenant instead of me and that I had no copy of the bill or what work they said needed doing and that I felt that was very bad business practice to do not call the owner but to discuss any repairs with a tenant.

I was told by the very pleasant man who answered that he would let the proper person know what had happened. I also let him know I wanted a copy of the findings.

Its now a week later and I still do not have any call back nor did I receive any copy or receipt of the findings of the call (which didn't find what the problem was but found $1,400 in other things).

At the very least, I want a copy of the receipt and findings

Joey and Taylor from Black Lion did an excellent job installing an AC for us. They arrive promptly at 8 o'clock with an 8 - 9 window. It took most of the day to install the AC and their work was professional and clean.

Tyrel, the sales guys, was very thorough in answering my questions and explaining the different AC options.

I can't wait for the hot weather to fire up my new Bryant AC!

This was my second time using Black Lion and I would use them again.

We needed 60 amp electrical service to our new swim spa/hot tub. It's about 30+ meandering feet from the house. Black Lion employees were out within days of my call, gave a reasonable estimate, installed the conduit from my panel, up and over my ceiling, down the exterior wall, into a new exterior dedicated panel, then under a deck stairway, into my meandering trench (which I dug) and out to my newly placed spa. We had it running that very day. Unfortunately, our city inspecter thought it meandered a bit too much, and there needed to be a standard electrical outlet within 20 feet of the spa. (Felt like getting ticketed for going 65 on a 60mph limit freeway.) They were again out right away, They ran a second conduit to a post I erected nearby the spa, and charged me nothing extra. The electricians were courteous and professional. Good job!

These guys were ***fantastic*** - Fair prices, and excellent service.   We got a bunch of bids and decided to move forward with Black Lion because Kevin, the salesman, made us feel the most comfortable with their process and abilities.  We just had an air conditioner put in because we have three floors of west facing window-walls and it gets quite warm in the summer.   I know, I know, Seattle only gets hot for two weeks.   Well, when it gets too hot to really do anything and you have kids at home who have trouble sleeping, its totally worth switching to an AC unit.  

They were able to run some 7 wire thermostat cable for me and install an EcoBee 3 thermostat along with an Aprilaire whole house bypass humidifier, which only a few other vendors were willing to do.   I hear from many HVAC folks that they won't touch any of the newfangled wifi thermostats.   I don't really understand that, since most of the mechanisms work the same.

They even gave my daughter, who was home sick for the day a small stuffed animal (a black lion), which she adores.   Thanks guys for the great service, and being able to do something on short notice).  Will likely call them again for service and to install tankless water someday.

p.s.
I should mention, I haven't actually needed to turn my AC on yet so I'm basing this review on the service that I received - Will update in case I have any trouble later on.

Black Lion's service was very straight forward and excellent. A few things about them stood out from others. They didnt try to push me into paying any extra for other work. Their prices were good and were very matter of fact and got the job done.

After the work was done the tech did mention that he saw oil dripping out of my furnace. So i am thankful he was paying attention and brought it up. I will only recommend Black Lion again, but yet i shopped around at 5 places.

I don't know how they get such a high rating on yelp. The technicians they sent to my place just don't know what they are talking about. After checking the water heater for a hour without finding a solution, he blamed the city's water pressure and ask me to call the Seattle public utility to ask them check the water pressure on the street. I officer in Seattle utility laughed at me and told me to find a company know what they are talking about...

The two stars is for them came back 3 days and work on fixing it again.

It wasn't a pleasant experience.

We had AC installed in 2017, and everything was good for the last 2 years until we had a big rain in 2019. The place where they'd installed ventilation through the roof caused a leak, and we only noticed after a huge crack formed in our ceiling. Further inspection revealed that black mold had been growing around the installation. So while the service seemed great, I have to give it 1 star for the $1500 in ceiling and roof repair it cost me.

I had a heatpump installed and they tied into what they thought was existing plumping line, but it wasn't, and didn't bother to check.  Therefore all the condensation leaked into our water heater closet.  While they agreed to pay for the damage to the closet, in doing so I had to purchase a new water heater that I didn't even need because once they got the old one out they couldn't get it back in.  So their negligence cost me over $2K!!

I was very happy with the service from these guys. Jack and his team worked for over 8 hours to install my central ac. They were courteous, timely, and efficient. Black Lion is very courteous and they will answer any questions and help every step of the way. I would recommend this team for all and any HVAC needs, and in fact I will use them every time I have a home need. Thanks Black Lion.

From the initial visit with Jim to the install with Matt, Richard, Joey, and Chris everything was seamless and 100% PROFESSIONAL!!
The install crew was top notch all were very knowledgable, polite and courteous.
They arrived on time and  installed  AC and a new furnace before 2pm.
Our experience was 100% positive

I had my AC installed by Black Lion recently. Greg the salesperson came out for a walk through and gave us a an estimation of what the job will cost depending on which AC models we choose.  He was very friendly, knowledgeable, wasn't pushy, and noticed that since our furnace is Bryant, that they'll probably go with that brand for the AC also.

Day of the install, Joey and his crew, Taylor and the electrician arrived on time and after asking a few questions, promptly went to work. Crew was professional and knowledgeable and was mindful not to dirty my carpets by covering the walkway all the way to the crawl space.

After the job was done, Joey install a new thermostat and show us how to use/program it properly, and answer any questions we have. Joey and Taylor also test to make sure both the heat and AC was working properly, and did a walk through with what they did. Excellent job from beginning to the end, good clean up job, and putting everything back the way it was in my garage.  Def recommend Black Lion Heating & AC for all HVAC job.

Power issues killed our furnace in the middle of bad weather, but they still got a technician out the following morning. The service was prompt, courteous, and fixed the problem. I would recommend this company highly.

In short, tried to severely upsell.

Furnace wouldn't start after a power outage. Called these guys, who said circuit board needed to be replaced for $900. Apparently other parts were also about to fall apart so they suggested a furnace replacement for $4000.

I got a second opinion, who said that the transformer had blown out. Other parts were fine. Paid $150, got it fixed. Happy, warm home again.

FYI, they bought Highlander heating, so this review applies to them as well.

Probably that day was unlucky day for me and the guy who came in, but here is what happened.

I've got a deal at Angie's list for servicing my furnace.

The guy came in right on time at 8am. IIRC his name was Steve.

I have 17-18 years old furnace. Steve has disassembled a couple parts and have cleaned things up. He was also kind enough to answer my various questions. Once he has assembled everything back it turned up that furnace has stopped detecting the flame and was shutting off a few seconds after starting. It was working before Steve has started to do his work, so I'm not sure what happened.

Steve said that things break and sometimes they break right at the time he touches it. He said that the panel is broken and he will bring me a new one and will replace it right away and it will cost me something between $700 and $800. Of course I wasn't expecting this, but thought I don't have other choice. I've asked if Steve can test the flame sensor and he assured me that it's impossible to test the sensor with a multimeter and that it requires special equipment. Later I've learned that it's super easy to test with regular multimeter like the one Steve had. He also said that he will bring me a new sensor just in case.

An hour or so later he came back with a new board and a sensor. He has replaced both, but the problem wasn't solved. It was still working as before. That all looked very strange and Steve seem to be nervous and frustrated. I was trying to suggest various ways of diagnosing the problem and he got angry and has asked me to leave him alove with the furnace.

He was diagnosing the problem with someone over the phone. He also run again to his shop and brought another electronic panel for the furnace and I think he has tried that one too and it also didn't work.

Since the service has started at 8am we had our furnace turned off. I stayed home for the entire day. At 3:30pm Steve came to me and said he couldn't solve the problem, but he can install me a new furnace as soon as tomorrow, but I have to make a decision right away and give him 50% pre-payment. This all seemed very strange. He was frustrated. This situation seem to be stresful for him too and I would say he wasn't handling it properly. After all, it was all working at the time of hia arrival and for me it's quite stressful too, but he was pushing very hard towards selling me a new furnace. I said that I need to do some research about different furnaces first. And, I was honest with him, I said that I'll be trying to get someone else to look at my old furnace the same day just in case. Steve basically said if you don't commit to installing a new furnace with us in 20 minutes from now, and will call up tomorrow, we will put you on the wait list for the next week. Was very agressive selling.

I didn't commit. Steve left. I've tried to turn on the furnace a couple more times, but the problem persistent. An hour later another HVAC specialist came in. And surprisingly the furnace has stareted to work. He really did nothing other than turning it on, he even didn't charge me for the visit. It's almost 1 month since then and the furnace still works so I'm not really sure what it was...

Strange and stressful day and bad experience. I wouldn't hire Steve after that situation.

HVAC professional should know how to test flame sensors. Also he should know how to actually test electronic boards too. It's not a complicated device. I'm sure you can measure some voltage there and there to say for sure if it's dead or not. It's not a rocket science...

In my opinion, companies should be professional, punctual and exhibit self control-have integrity, good work ethic, quality workmanship, customer service skills and conscientious.

In my opinion, people should go with their gut.
If you think you have dog poo on your shoe and decide to ignore it because you're in a hurry... you end up dragging poo all through the house, up the stairs, on the carpet... Now its everywhere and you are left with a stinky mess to clean up.
When you smell poo on your shoe - go with your first instinct, stop and check your shoes-avoid the hassle.

Our furnace stopped working and we called Black Lion. Sarah set our appointment for the next morning and she was so professional and helpful. Parker came out and he arrived exactly on time which was awesome. He was professional and got the furnace working so we wouldn't be without heat until they came and installed a new furnace. Manny and Kenny arrived the next morning and did an excellent job with installing the new furnace and removing the old one. They arrived right on time and made sure everything was installed perfectly. I would recommend this company to anyone wanting an honest and professional heating and cooling company.

Like a lot of people in Seattle - the summer gets hot for a few weeks and we start dreaming about air conditioning again.  This time - we decided to get an estimate to determine if we wanted to invest in air conditioning for our home.  We called Black Lion (and one other company), but Black Lion was the first to get back to us and had immediate availability to provide an estimate.  The other company would take 2-3 weeks before they could even provide a consultation.

The Black Lion representative - Chris - came to our house on time, took a quick look at our system, and was immediately able to walk me through how air conditioning could be installed, the costs, our options for reducing cost, etc.  He even took the time to give me tips on maintaining our furnace as well as showed me how to clean our air filters.  Ultimately - we decided not to invest in air conditioning at this time, but I appreciated Black Lion's consultation and great service and felt they deserved a positive Yelp review.

I have continued using Black Lion as my HVAC provider.  They installed a heat pump at my new house in 2016, beating every other bid by several thousand dollars.  They were able to install a continuous compressor high end heat pump for $2000 less than costco's bid for a two speed compressor.  They have been out on a couple of routine service calls and have been very responsive.  Following a normal maintenance call this last spring, we had some cooling issues and called them about it.  The refrigerant was low, and they said they should have caught it at the normally scheduled maintenance.  They waived the diagnostic fee for that visit, and refilled the refrigerant immediately to get the heat pump going again.

The team at Black Lion have been great.  We had an issue with the air cleaner in our furnace. They quickly sent out a technician who diagnosed the problem and coordinated with the equipment provider on our behalf.  The replacement unit was installed promptly.  We have used Black Lion( formerly Highlander) for all our HVAC needs since 2001... highly recommended.

Awesome, awesome and awesome. I had Black Lion install central air in a 1920's home we just purchased in West Seattle. They were on time, courteous, priced reasonably, and did a great job. Through the A/C install, I learned that they also do their own electrical work. I wish I had known earlier that they also offered full electrical services independent of their HVAC installations.

Unfortunately, I had already hired another electrical company to remove knob and tube from my house (other company's name rhymes with Puke Electric, but starts with an L).  This other company charged over $12k and never completed the job. They told me there were areas of knob and tube that could not be removed unless they removed plaster, which was not what they told me when we originally walked the house. As an Architect, I also knew that it could be done without damaging walls and ceilings. Long story short, I had Black Lion remove the knob and tube (amazingly without any wall damage). I also hired them to add new outlets and a switch in my basement, hang a new light above a stair, install a new fan, and they even found additional knob and tube wiring that was removed/replaced. They even went above and beyond and fixed an inoperable outlet that was improperly spliced in my daughter's room. My daughter was so happy that she could plug in her turtle night light next to her bed!!! Matt and Jacob were outstanding, and I highly recommend them.

After a few years of furnace going out and being tired of replacing parts in my furnace it was time for our 17 year old furnace to leave. After shopping for competive prices aNd what we were looking for black lion was best option for us.

Day of install happens to be when we were getting dumped on w snow. Had and apt at 9 am. By 830 their van pulls out. Unfortunately our installer (Mikey) told us his helper called in and couldn't make it. So unfortunately our 2 hour install turned into a 6 hour ordeal.

Under those circumstances I never do reviews but way Mikey worked hard literally every second he was here I had to make an account and leave a review. Do an awesome job making everything fit and running perfect when he left. They did forget to replace the valve on my water heater that ( Jason the guy who gave us a quote ) said they would do for us but not a huge deal breakers.

Bottom line If Mikey hard work is what all their employees do you guys will be fine!! Thanks again

I needed a lot of work done at my new house (including new A/C install and replacement of a water heater) so I called two of the top area HVAC companies on Yelp--Black Lion and Overlake.  The quotes were similar, but Black Lion seemed more competent and easier to work with, so I went with them.  And they did a great job! Here are the details:

First, Adam Smith came by to understand the needs and prepare an estimate.  He seemed a little more knowledgeable and experienced than the Overlake guy.  For example, the Overlake fellow told me that my older furnace didn't support fan mode, which was true at the thermostat wiring level.  But Adam showed me that the furnace had a summer switch to turn on fan mode manually.  Also, I feel like Adam suggested a better cooling line routing.  Overlake wanted to run it through our daughter's closet, while Black Lion hid it away in the ceiling.

Adam then sent me a detailed written quote, while Overlake just gave me a verbal estimate on the phone.  Adam included everything, from electrical work to taxes, while Overlake was only able to give a rough estimate on the electrician costs.  Adam worked with me to refine my needs and we ended up with a quote for just the items I wanted.  So we scheduled the work and they were available to start in just a few days!

Adam just does the estimates, so it was Jesse and Darrius who came to actually perform the work, along with a couple of electricians.  They all did a great job, especially with routing the wiring and cooling lines to avoid ugly clutter.  Darrius also installed a Nest thermometer for the furnace with the new A/C.  Then, when they were packing up and ready to go, I gave (admittedly late) feedback that I was a little disappointed that the Nest had the big ugly backing plate.  Without skipping a beat, Darrius whipped out a screwdriver, unwired and removed the Nest and then put it all back without the plate.  Now it looks much better!  Bravo!

I actually bought a 2nd nest that I wanted to install on my other (older) furnace.  But Adam refused to add that to the quote because he is worried it will put too much strain on the furnace.  I guess that's OK, although I'm personally willing to take the risk and now will have to hire someone else for that part.  I'm still extremely happy with how things worked out and will probably hire Black Lion to replace the old furnace if the new Nest blows it out.  But only if Adam promises not to say I told you so!. LOL.

Our heater suddenly stopped working and I called up to see if someone can come out today. Not only did they come out but they fixed the heater and the charges were very reasonable.

Everett quickly diagnosed the problem and fixed it. In addition, he was pleasant and courteous. He even explained to me how the system works and answered all of my questions.

Will definitely call them the next time we have an issue.

I had the Mitsubishi Ductless Mini Split Heat Pump installed this summer, and while I was assuming I'd be using it mainly for air conditioning, now that Fall has hit I'm realizing I like it even more as a heater than an air conditioner! Maybe it's the mild summer we had, or the freezing fall - but this thing heats like a dream and keep me real cozy. 10/10 would recommend Black Lion for all your heating and cooling needs.

Air conditioning ninjas I tell you!

They were so great, the full staff was excellent to work with.  I appreciated how quickly they were able to get our install accomplished.  I got a quote the same week I requested one, they were very helpful and did not upsell me on anything.  Just explained what would be the best for my house.  A week later, install is done and life is good.
They cleaned up, explained all the details to me and were very thorough.

This company knows what they are doing and are a pleasure to work with.

I had an AC unit installed.  My experience was so poor that I will not use this company for its future maintenance.

Black Lion provided me with a Black Lion Guarantee brochure in which the owner Ben says to email him directly with any concerns.  As I dealt with the problems below, I emailed Ben 3 times and never got a reply.

After my AC was installed several follow-up visits were needed.  The staff was consistently unprofessional.

They sent a technician to assess the problem, who said that he would send a proposal to fix it in a couple of days.  He did not do so.

Two weeks later they sent a different person who arrived at the same conclusion.  He promised to send a proposal, and that was several days late.

They also failed to schedule my city inspection when promised, and when it was re-scheduled they gave him the wrong address, so it had to be re-re-scheduled.

And there were other missed appointments and failed promises.  Although the AC is working now, the staff treated me so poorly that I won't be using this company again.

Where I work on one of the e-mail distribution group for homeowners, Black Lion is one of the popular companies that people recommend for A/C installation.  We got a quote from them, the company that Costco recommended, and another source recommended on my work's homeowners alias.  Out of the three, Black Lion offered the most competitive quote although depending on who you speak with Bryant isn't as popular as the other potential brands.  We opted to go with them due to the option of a slimline A/C (which would fit on the corner of our property) and they were 10% lower than our next bid.   I also noted that their BBB rating was fine.

The day of the installation went smoothly, I was a bit worried since the two people sent from the company seemed very young but they did a good job and we passed permitting by our city on the next day.  The installers earlier cautioned the day of that they might need to make a hole in our laundry room ceiling for the new piping of the furnace and A/C but they worked hard and were able to do it without that leaving me quite impressed.  

Our system has been working well in the last month.  With the replacement of our low efficiency furnace with a new high efficient system we also qualified with for a PSE rebate.  It was so nice that they handled the paperwork for us and our rebate check arrived in the mail today.  They definitely went above and beyond!

We were initially very pleased with Black Lion when they installed our AC unit about 2 years ago.  They were prompt and installed our AC as scheduled.  Unfortunately their followup has not been as good.  

We noticed that our AC unit was not cooling the house properly.  We called a technician to come inspect the unit and he said that the unit was not theirs as they don't install that particular brand.  We produced the paperwork from installation and he backtracked and said they no longer install that brand.  He inspected the unit and told us that the coil had frozen likely because we had several vents closed throughout the house.  He inspected the unit, said the filter looked good, and advised to open the vents and wait and see if the unit works properly once the coil defrosted.   If it didn't work, he said we might need to have some replacements.  We did as he recommended but the problem persisted.  

We called to make a followup appointment but couldn't schedule it for several days because of heavy bookings.  Because it was forecast to be 90+ degree weather, we went with an alternative company who had availability the next day.  Their technician came by, ran a diagnostic, said the coil looked fine but showed us the filter which was completely clogged which she felt was the problem.  We changed the filter and the unit has been working well every since. Problem solved.

Unfortunately, the Black Lion tech either did not look at the filter and told us he did or looked at the filter and gave us misleading information.  We called to complain and request a refund of the diagnostic fee as he gave us incorrect information and we needed another company to come out.  We never received a call back or any further correspondence.  

Very disappointing experience with a company that seemed great at the start.  Unfortunately, their followup and service reliability needs work.

Deceptive Business - Can't Be Trusted

I was surprised a few weeks ago when I returned home from a short trip to find that my heater wasn't working - it was less than 5 years old.  So I called my trusted HVAC guy, only to find that he had retired and sold his business to Black Lion.  I had them out and Chris told me I needed a new motor, which was under warranty.  They needed to order the part, and said that they would call when it was in, but to expect a 2 week wait.  How could it be 2 weeks, I thought?  I can get almost anything from Amazon in 2 days!  And, since it was a very complicated job installing the new motor, the installation cost would be $690.00.  I was dumbfounded at this, but trusted that he was telling me the truth - it was a complicated job.

So, after waiting for 2 weeks in a cold house, I finally called them back.  Yes, they had the part, but had forgotten to call!  I was furious, but what could I do at that point.  So Chris came back out the next day with the new part.  Expecting that this complicated job would take 2-3 hours, I busied myself with other things.  Imagine how surprised I was when he announced 30 minutes later that he was finished!  Complicated job indeed.

I completely understand that businesses need to make a fair profit.
They cannot survive without profits.  But $690 for a 30 minute job is far more than a reasonable profit.  This is being deceptive - telling the customer lies to gouge them.  By the way, I reached out to Black Lion to complain, but have not heard back.....

Thought the blower on our furnace had finally given up the ghost. Called and was able to get a next day apt. Nick was prompt, arrived right at the start of our service apt window. He checked everything out and the blower is fine, didn't see any issues. We definitely will be giving Black Lion a call when we need to replace the furnace or need assistance again.

I thought I had finally found a company I could trust to maintain my furnace and air conditioning.  They did a great job last year in replacing our air conditioner so I had them out this year to maintain my HVAC system.  The technician first decided to use my bathroom and stunk it up right before I had guest coming over.  It was the first appointment of the day so you would think he could take care of his business at home or at the office before coming to my home.

Then, I was told we needed to replace the capacitor and furnace blower motor, which amounted to a $1000 repair.  It felt like a pushy sales situation, but what are you going to do when you make arrangements for an annual maintenance and the trusted technician says it needs to be replaced?  He made it sound like it could fail at any time and we don't want that to happen when the weather is so hot out, so I reluctantly decided to move forward.  

The motor looked to me like a $100 motor and he said it would take minutes to replace it so there was basically no additional labor involved.  Sure enough, I searched the internet for the motor using the exact model number and found that it retails for $100-225.  I feel like I have been ripped off and I don't plan to use this company again in the future.

Black Lion were outstanding! Kevin came out to quote us on installing a ductless heat pump system. He was the only contractor who gave us a price right there and then after some calculations. He immediately responded to all my questions afterwards via email. We were scheduled for installation 3 days later and Phil and Jesse did an outstanding job! They worked together as a great team navigating all the problems and working with us and our expectations for he project to make sure it got done safely, cleanly and efficiently all within one day. We are delighted to have chosen Black Lion after getting quotes from 3 of Yelp's highest rated companies and they have proved to be a success! If you're getting a ductless heat pump installed ask for Phil and Jesse, you won't be disappointed!

Stay away. 6/20 the first time technician showed up to fix our AC, gave a long list of issues and charged $1300+ to fix the problem only the same evening it brook down again. So we called again and again and again. 3 weeks later and lots of back and forth and another diagnosis which would cost additional $1400+,we decided to hire another company. The second company came, pinpointing problem to something completely different, fixed the issue which cost way less.
They don't have experience to properly diagnose the problem, charge way too much for parts and labor with no guarantee.

Disclaimer: review not for actual work done but the interaction with the front office.

Prompt response to schedule an appointment. On the day of 15 minutes past the appointment called them since I did not hear back from them. First had to go through an insane wait to even figure out what was happening ( not a big deal).

The lady responded by saying we knocked on the door and no response are you sure you are there? My response yes maybe the  knock was not audible most folks would try calling, you have all my details right?

She got mad at this point and said no calling cannot be expected ( really? Really? You got to be kidding me any sane person would do that)

On ranting a little she got further annoyed and said I already apologized not sure what you need from me. ( No words that could constitute an apology yet uttered by her and her tone super condescending and rude). Also it looked like based on what she said the person only left 10 mins back the least they could have offered was for him to come back.

Also just saw more reviews with similar issues, all the good reviews are mostly from folks with only one or two reviews total, looks fishy!

Either case happy that I found out about their customer service level before I decided to go with them, will take my ( and the 3 other friends looking to install air conditioning) business elsewhere.

After reading all the reviews about their work and professionalism, I scheduled an appointment with them for getting an estimate for the AC installation thinking that it would be a nice experience working with them but at the day of the appointment nobody showed up.
They didn't even bother to call me and update me on the status during/before the day of the appointment, got to know that they messed up after calling them myself on the day of appointment after waiting for them for an hour. If this is their attitude at the beginning, god knows what will they do once you sign the contract with them.
I was in charge of getting AC installed at couple of houses in my community and some of my friend's place, but going to discommend them everywhere (work and friends).

I would give this company 2 stars because:

*They ran the coolant line for the HVAC unit through the middle of our laundry room, blocking the walkway and limiting the space we have to move around in there (definitely did not have to be configured that way).
*They broke a water pipe and it took forever to deal with the insurance claim.  It also took forever for them to respond to us regarding permitting.  Basically, it's like dealing with Comcast.  

We don't even use them for our maintenance needs because it's not worth the headache.   Not sure why they have 4 stars.

They were great from first phone call to follow up phone call.  Professional, timely, efficient and clean in their work.  We had reached out to another large company in the area and the estimate experience WAS totally different. We had Black Lion install our HVAC this spring, and in the process, they also upgraded the electrical panel. Additionally, their electrician installed the electric ignition for our outdoor fire pit. Everyone who came by was professional and great at his job, but the electrician, Jacob, really went over and beyond. Premier Plumbing had already hooked up the gas line, but they left without testing it. After Jacob hooked up his part, the fire pit was not lighting, so it took some troubleshooting on his part. I was unaware that BL did gas, otherwise I would have asked them to do the gas line. But Jacob called someone from BL to ask some questions and got the fire pit working for us somehow. It wasn't his job to figure it out, and that's why I considered it exceptional customer service. Thanks to BL, we're looking forward to summer!

We had a few estimates done prior to choosing this company to install our hvac system. They do have competitive rates and is affiliated with home depot which made it easy for us. I would say there were some hiccups that we noticed after the installation was done but the technician who came over to check made sure everything was A-OK!  He noted everything and corrected what needs to be done. They do have 24 hr service so i am confident that we have emergency service if we need it! thank you Black Lion!

I just had Ian & Scott leave after installing our AC.  What a great team!  From the point that I emailed asking for a quote - Brian responded in minutes! - to having Scott & Ian arrive EARLY this morning... what a spectacular group.  Without question, Brian's friendliness & knowledge made me favor Black Lion as our choice for AC installation.  

We did get a couple more quotes, but Black Lion was unquestionably the best price.

Today, the electricians and installers were super friendly, on time, respectful of our light colored carpet, and Ian & Scott just left after explaining the unit and how to maintain the filter.

I really can't say enough about the entire experience. I'll refer any of my friends who are in the market for AC, as I'm beyond happy with Black Lion.

I had A/C and a new thermostat installed by Black Lion.  WiFi was not working for Thermostat and discovered the installer did not install all of the necessary equipment.  I called Ben the owner (I found his name and cell on the guarantee certificate I received).  He called me the same day and set a time to get it fixed.  His tech installer, Chris Henningsen, came to our house, installer a new thermostat and the right equipment.  It now works just the way I wanted it to.  Chris Henningsen was very profession, pleasant and he got the job done to my satisfaction.  I will recommend my friends and family to Black Lion Heating and Air because of Ben the owner and Chris the installer.  Problems can happen no matter what company does the work, what matters most is how a problem gets resolved and Black Lion gets an A+ from me.  Thank you Ben and Chris!

Had our heater and AC installed by Black Lion. Everything looked fine. After first annual tune-up, they sold us pre-paid twice annual tune-up with some discount and informed us they would call and schedule. 1st time when service was due, no call, I was told they forgot us. 2nd time, they did call, but showed up saying they no longer do same thing as contracted, and required $40 additional for my prepaid service, otherwise tune-up couldn't be done. I didn't have time, so paid them out and let them go.
Now as we just received heavy rain, some flex duct in crawl space fell off. We called Black Lion who sound very considerate this time, saying they would send out sb to do tune up and at the same time take a look what's the problem so we only need to pay tune-up. Technician showed up, only opened our crawl space cover, gave us a quote for crawl space flex duct repair, no tune-up was done as scheduled but charged the same service fee. We then scheduled a crawl space flex duct appointment, communicated with Black Lion two times before appointment to make sure work condition is workable for them (weather and water). one hour before our appointment, I was told a cancellation by Black Lion. BL mentioned they may fix the flex duct (heater) in spring. That's not acceptable. I need my heater fix in winter but not after winter. And even the tune-up I paid was not done. This company need to commit to their service and refund for what they can't do. Now waiting for BL's response. My flex duct project was now scheduled with another company to come in two days - no none sense at all. They came timely to check and an appointment was scheduled after two days.

I have been using their annual tune up of my heater for years.  I prepaid every year for about $99 after discount. This afternoon, the technician showed up and said now the company just increases the routine check up to $174, with no coupons allowed. I paid, but it is time to switch to a new provider!

Tip: HomeAdvisor app will compare a few HVAC providers, they are all vying for your business. Shop around!  Didn't feel my loyalty to them pays off at all... bummer.

Fully satisfied.  Heater died on Monday afternoon, didn't notice until evening.  Tuesday started calling around 8:30 and most people said tomorrow.  Black Lion did too but said they would call us if they could fit us in.  About 10 minutes later they had a tech dispatched.  For an appearance fee of $155, they diagnosed the problem (bad igniter) and fixed the whole thing, out the door, for under $500, labor, parts, and tax.  Went from completely down to fully up and running before 11 a.m.

Really, can't be better than that.  Very highly recommended.

I needed to get warranty service for a two-year-old air purifier on our furnace. I called the original installer Bob's heating and was told it would take over three weeks to get someone out. I decided to try calling Black lion and they got somebody out within three days and explained all the charges that would be involved. They were very friendly and good at explaining what was wrong. They also came back with the repair part in a very timely manner. From the lady that took my information over the phone to the two technicians that came to look at the repair needed and install the new part, everybody was very friendly and a pleasure to do business with. They will be the first company a call next time when I have a problem with my furnace or air conditioning.

I have nothing but rave reviews for Black Lion. Everyone I worked with to get my central AC installed was extremely helpful, professional, and honest.

Todd came out for the initial quote and was great at identifying exactly what we needed and what we didn't. He really pushed for an additional return air vent to be added to the upstairs level which has made all the difference. We didn't have one originally, so there would have been at least a 5 degree difference between the floors. Definitely worth it, and so glad Todd identified that as a problem.

Our installation team Joey and JJ were a dynamic duo and worked tirelessly getting everything installed to our liking. The duct work was a labor of love, so their efforts were greatly appreciated. They were extremely polite in our household and my puppy misses Joey's pets!

After the initial installation we noticed a weird noise coming from the fan so we called the service line and Parker was quick to identify the problem and fix it with ease.

I would recommend Black Lion to anyone and will definitely be using them for all of my heating and air conditioning needs in the future!

Asked them to order new filters for the $10k system they installed, they order the wrong size and then come out and con my wife into an insanely expensive servicing even though the units are installed less than a year ago. They tell her she needs a new capacitor. Had another guy look at our furnace and he said, yeah they are fine. I'm switching to a different company. Horrible customer service. Not to mention they left a piece of my siding cut out after they installed our vent for the continuous hot water heater. It looks horrible. Like something you would do to a crap house.

I bought a top of the line furnace and AC from Black Lion. The install was decent, but once the owner showed up to hasten his workers the quality of work dropped sharply.  They left with the unit exhaust routed under my deck, damaging it by spewing hot moist air, and several holes in the drywall they never patched.  Weeks later a hose they routed outside froze (shocking I know), and cause the unit to stop working.  The owner told me it was my problem.  Frustrating to get a high end furnace installed that fails to work if it 'gets too cold' but seems that's a good way to treat people according to the owner.  I ended up having to fix all these problems myself.  No thanks to black lion.  Though now we are years later and a part under warranty broke on the furnace.  Not a big deal, it was under the 10 year warranty, though upon calling black lion they refused to honor it or in anyway fix the problem.  No attempt to negotiate around standing by their work or honoring the warranty were made.  They told me I could pay them to fix it as part of a service call in 3 weeks, while my family shivered.  I had to pay 2000 dollars to get the faulty part replaced by a different service tech who would give me the time of day.  Do not do business with this company, there are many other viable options in the area, don't let a low price tempt you, you'll end up paying more to fix their work in the long run.

Black Lion heating and air condition was great. We got a lot of quotes and information from a lot of different companies, but black lion seemed the most knowledgeable and best priced. They arrived on time and took care of everything. There was no surprises. William is one the employee's and he was great. He answered all my questions and went though everything he was doing. They did a quality job and I was really happy with all the work that was done. I would highly recommend Black Lion. The whole team is knowledgeable and just awesome.

Black Lion installed A/C in my house in June and I was and continue to be extremely impressed by them.  First, I thought Brian did a great job with the estimate and communication thereafter.  I received three estimates and Black Lion was in the middle.  That said, I had a lot more confidence in them than the company that provided a lower quote, so I spent the extra money (but saved over $1k compared to the more expensive quote).  I am very glad I went with Black Lion.

The installation went great!  Jason ran the show when they came for the install and it was clear he knew exactly what he was doing.  Everything was done efficiently and looked very nicely done.  The A/C was running like crazy right from the start due to a few weeks of 90+ degrees and it worked awesome.  Another HVAC company told me I'd likely have issues cooling the upstairs due to my existing duct system, but I have not experienced that at all.

On July 4th, I couldn't get the outside unit to turn on, so I sent an email at 10pm asking for help.  Twelve hours later, the next morning (a Sunday after a holiday), Jason was at my house and fixed the problem in 15 minutes.  I am not sure I have ever received better customer service than that from a local company.

There are a ton of HVAC companies out there and I researched them all before going with Black Lion.  I highly recommend you choose Black Lion for your HVAC needs.

Black Lion came out to replace the furnace and add central air to my house recently. This required a lot of extra work, such as adding a return up through the interior of the house and attic and rerouting some water and gas pipes. The quality of the worksmanship was excellent. For example, they had to run a new return through the floor in the back of the closet, and the gap between the pipe and the hole they cut is minuscule, and they were able to seal it with flashing. The carpet around it even sits flush with the edge of the pipe. I was expecting to have to do a bunch of work afterward to make it look nice, but it looks great.

So of course the furnace goes out 2 days before Christmas. We had another company come out and they tried to take advantage of our situation and stick it to us price wise. I won't say their name but it rhymes with mean... Luckily I called Black Lion. I worked with Tyrel and he gave me a fair price and his team was able to have the furnace system installed and up and running before before the new year. I would definitely use Black Lion again.

Hired them to replace my water heater. While replacing it, they damaged my dryer. At first, they told me that they will fix the damage. However, the installation manager who was responsible for that started coming up with all kinds of excuses for not fixing it. A month and 20 emails later they fixed half of the damage, and refused to fix the remaining part with no explanations whatsoever. Very poor customer service, will steer away from them in the future.

The problem I called Black Lion to solve was that the pilot light for my furnace would not ignite.

The technician came on time, and was very courteous and explained all the troubleshooting steps he was going to. This, however, was the only positive part of my experience. Read on.

The first theory of the tech was that the pilot light igniter went bad, and the price range he gave would be a couple hundred bucks. I said OK - but could he give a 100% guaranteed that this is the failing part? After some hesitation, he said no, and proceeded with shorting two contacts on the circuit board. The pilot light ignited, and the furnace started working.

His second theory was that the circuit board went bad and the approx. price he gave would be around $900. Since this sounded very expensive, I asked for a 100% guarantee again. He didn't respond with certainty, but instead said that there are clear signs that the board burned. I asked him to demonstrate, and he said the signs were not visible but he knows that color of some electronic component (looked like a resistor to me) was not what it was supposed to be. I insisted to find out on which factor(s) his certainty is based on and he said that the signs of burn must be on the other side of the board. I asked him to remove the board and  show me the signs he meant. He complied and pointed to some yellow residue on the other side of the board. I told him that circuit board burns look nothing like that - the burnt part would be yellowish or brownish and that there would be a distinct smell. He scratched his head . . . and seemingly abandoned the theory.

At this point he said he had a definite test in mind that would tell us whether the board is good or bad. He unscrewed two (or maybe more) wires and connected them in some way. The furnace started working, at which moment he declared that the issue is not in the board, but in the thermostat (the third theory). I asked him how much that would cost and he gave me an eye-popping number of ~$450. He insisted that this is a quite fair price given that they'd install it for me and give a 5-year warranty. I said no thanks, and asked how much it would cost through other channels. He said perhaps $250 on Amazon.

I sent him away (even though he warned that if I install myself there won't be any warranty and that it's likely I'd have to call them the second time for another $170 cost of the visit).

At the end, I purchased an $49 thermostat in local Home Depot store and installed it myself. That solved the problem in its entirety.

All in all, I felt like I was being treated as a fool. Should I have not been careful and insistent, I would have likely paid more than $1,000 and the resolution would have taken a week or several.

Our 30 year old gas furnace stopped working at the coldest day of the year. We decided to get a new one installed for the peace of the mind. We reached out to a handful of HVAC companies. Not only Black Lion was the first contacted us, their proposals were simple, their prices were competitive. At the end, we chose to move forward with them. After the installation, they thoroughly cleaned it up. However, a few hours after they left, I started to feel difficulty of breath. I called them and walked out of the building. They arrived in half hour with handheld carbon monoxide detector. They performed a thorough examination of the pipes and concluded that there were no carbon monoxide leakage. The shortness of breath may be caused by the allergens in the dirty air duct which was cleaned the same day by a subcontractor.The next step was the inspection by city officials, the inspector suggested additional combustion air grille on the inside walls to guarantee sufficient combustion air. I forwarded the feedback to Black Lion, again, with a few hours, they scheduled the next visit. The problem was fixed and the new gas furnace passed the inspection.

From the beginning to the end, Black Lion responds quickly to my requests, all the employees show courteous manners and are patient to my questions. I would recommend Black Lion to anyone who needs HVAC services.

They are friendly and responsive, however, I had a less than a stellar experience this time with AC. Turns out I have a bad compressor - but only after spending not only on refilling the refrigerant to check, which I am okay with, but also a dye leak check. At initial check up, I was told once leak is fixed, it would be good to go, with an invoice clearly saying compressor checked. On the following visit a week later, leak could not be located, and compressor turns out bad. In the end, I spent 400+ dollars to be told compressor was bad and there is a small leak somewhere, and paid for inspection/diagnosis and dye leak check.
I could see many people having a good experience but sadly, was not for my situation.
Very frustrated and would not recommend - if you need someone quick and need Black Lion, make sure you have assurance on what they say.

Had a great experience from start to finish. Cody was the estimator and he was really helpful at explaining pros and cons of the available systems (replacing furnace and adding a/c), as well as what would be entailed in the installation. He was also super-responsive on email as I peppered him with questions (some generated by getting other estimates). We ended up choosing Black Lion because they were able to get us a great manufacturer rebate that made their system much cheaper than comparable estimates, plus we liked their extended 10-year labor warranty (if you buy the maintenance plan). We got a super-quiet and -efficient heat pump system and added a second-floor return. Then we were able to get on the schedule within a week!

Sean, Adam and Raj were our installers and they were awesome. They put up with my ignorant homeowner questions and my two little boys' occasionally intrusive participation. ;)  Sean even brought the boys a black lion stuffed animal! No job ever goes exactly as planned and this was no exception, but they agreed with Cody's evaluation of our home layout (which is not ideal for a/c, tbh) and were able to work through all the quirks of a 30-year-old home. They were cheerful and responsive, they showed up on time, and they cleaned up after themselves. Thanks!

There is a lot of competition in this industry, but Black Lion is the absolute top if you expect excellent service and competitive pricing. Their solution for my A/C installation was about 2/3 of what their main competitor's was. I did not need everything I had been quoted by the other company, and knew it. The people at Black Lion were honest, made no assumptions about my budget, and the installation went off without a hitch. Every single person, from the person making the appointment to the installers was a consummate professional, and pleasant as well. Just really good people. I highly recommend them.

The sales person was attentive until I booked for an install. The installer had very little experience and put us at great risk due to his inexperience with Gas. Cannot pass county inspection and cannot get timely responses from Black Lion to address the issues. I keep getting excuses of how busy they are . I would not recommend Black Lion .

3 months of product reviews, getting quotes, figuring out what the best options would be for replacement for our baseboards was going to be.  Ducting was a no go due to the house being a try level with an add on to the master-- so the house has its challenges and nearly everyone who came through did the head scratch at trying to figure out the best approach for our unique situation.
Cory came to the do the estimate and right away there was something about him that I just liked-- he listened, he didn't put his competition down, he suggested but when he realized I had been talking to a lot of people, he was careful to just listen and mention the differences.  He acumen put him in the top of the list-- but their price was a little higher than others... but that changed once we to all the possible discounts-- and there were a number of them.  In the end, they weren't the cheapest, but they did have a competitive bid for the upgraded equiptment we were looking for and they through in a bunch of stuff in... So they got the bid, but there about 3 weeks out (another good sign), so we waited for our turn at the rodeo.
All in, we got a 4 zone Mitsubishi ductless heating and A/C system and a tankless water heater.  The price included all the piping, gas line for the tankless and another gas line to the new stove... Pretty big project-- 4 rooms getting a head unit and then the outside unit... Lots of work.  
The team was set to arrive at 8am on Monday, they called friday to confirm they would be arriving.  They arrived at 8am on the nose with 3 big trucks, three electricians, 3 installers and a couple of other guys to help-- I was impressed by their organization and response.  They quickly got to work laying down protection for everything and checking to make sure where i wanted everything placed-- but by 9am they were making their first marks and getting to work.  Engineering wise, they knocked it out of the park.
All in all, the project took 3 solid days.  It might have taken a little less, but there was a snafu with the city inspection and someone in the front office dropped the ball-- the inspection was basically a day later than it should have been, but at the end of the day it didn't matter too much and everything was turned on and away we go loving our new system.
Now, for the details of the new system-- Mitsubishi 4 zone system, one in the master, one in the one kids room, one in the main floor, one in the lower floor (man cave, basement).  All in all, 2400 square feet.  The system goes as low as 61 and as high as 85.  
The fans operate at a level between 1 and 5 with 5 being a heavy flow of air which moves balloons around the room when set to 5.
When the units operate at their loudest, they are still about as noise as air coming up through a ducted system, so not loud at all.  Heat-- they push a ton of good heated air through the rooms-- making each room go from chilly to warm in less than 12 minutes overall, which is pretty impressive, IMO.
Tankless Water Heater.  Previously, we had a 50 gallon tank that would be good for about 1.5 showers before it needed to refill-- you couldnt add hot water to a bath after it cooled down and you couldnt run laundry at the same time as anything... Needless to say, it was a no bueno.
Now, hot water ALL THE TIME.  It takes 22 seconds to get from cold water in the morning to hot water for a shower-- less time than it took with a tank.  The water stays hot throughout the entire shower, so if you want to take an hour long shower, get a steam, no problem.   Tankless is wonderful.
I will update this as needed if anything comes up, but I will tell you to get several bids, but make sure Black Lion is one of them.

The electrician came out and replaced a timer switch for the bathroom exhaust that I had purchased separately. He also diagnosed that a can light in our basement had shorted, blown the dimmer switch and hence wasn't working.
He charged $125 on top of the $49 travel fee which I thought was a bit expensive.
The Yelp deal that they have needs to be purchased before the appointment which seemed like a strange requirement.

If you're looking for a company with integrity Black Lion is the place.

We had one small repair done by Jason for a sound issue with our A/C about 2 years ago and when we had a crisis late last night Black Lion was the first and only company that came to mind. Water began coming out of our ceiling from the A/C unit at around 10:30pm. We shut everything off and called Black Lion emergency line first thing this morning at 6:55am.

Patrick arrived within about an hour to help us out. My husband had to go to work early and we usually like to both be home if a repair person is coming over (for safety reasons) but we knew that Jason, the owner of Black Lion, is a person of integrity & looks to only hire employees with the same level of character.  

Patrick was awesome! The first thing he did was to lay down a big painters cloth and a bunch of our towels to try & protect the flooring. While opening up the access panel to reach the A/C in the ceiling water was wanting to pour out everywhere but he was extremely careful, really taking the time to try to get the water to fall right into the bucket rather than spill down the walls or all over the floor. He slowly open up the access panel and then taking parts out of the A/C unit ever so slowly to minimize any kind of potential water damage and wiping things down one by one.  

While Patrick was trying to figure out what the issue was just in general he was a very kind, patient person every step of the way and was very, very professional and informative. Now that our A/C is repaired if an issue ever comes up again in the future again Black Lion is the only place we would even consider using.

**Edit** I didn't realize until after Patrick had left that not only did he clean up the work area but that he had emptied the bucket of water, folded all of the wet towels (not just piled them up!) and placed them in the bucket. Phenomenal service!!!

I have used Black Lion for a few years for two houses.  I'm happy with their promptness, their friendliness, and their service.  Their prices seen reasonable as well.  The air conditioner they installed began failing after only 22 months on Labor Day.  I emailed them to open a service call and they responded immediately on Labor Day at 7pm!  They were out in a couple days and replaced the compressor. This was at no charge since I maintain a service contract with them.  The only complaint I have is that communication within the company seems spotty.  I've had furnace maintenance on my new furnace twice now and they've still neglect to bring proper filters to replace even though I ask for them at appointment time.  Then, a gas leak was discovered during my last appointment on a 2 year old furnace which may have been there previously, when the labor was under warranty, but the maintenance person told me that it doesn't get checked unless there's a smell and his nose is particularly sensitive.  I'm bummed that it isn't checked routinely.  So, I'll be paying labor to repair this issue.  Overall, however, I've been very pleased with the company and intend to continue with them.

I requested an electrician to check on replacing my bedroom wall heater and give me a quote.  They sent a person who does duct work for furnaces and he couldn't help me.  I asked about a thermostat replacement for my gas fireplace and he said he would send me a quote with pictures.   I called to see if this was happening.  I quote has never arrived.  I asked to have an electrician, not a duct person, come to check on the bedroom wall heater I originally called about.  No one could come for ten days.  The service is very poor.  I canceled the follow up appointment and have gone with a company that has better ratings.

I worked with Todd Anderson on a few quotes for an AC or a heat pump. We also agreed on moving the filter to the air intake from my furnace. He got mixed up and charged and sent me a heat pump though I wanted an AC. At no point did I say let's go with the heat pump. I always said AC. So I sent an email as they were installing and he called me asking if we could split the cost  between the heat pump and ac and he'll send me a home Depot gift card. I said sure. GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING WITH THEM! They also didn't bring the right grill for the filter move. So I'm emailing them and it turns out Todd has left and they're telling me verbal agreements aren't honored. Really, you're not going to come move my air filter????!! Honestly, I just want them to come take it all out and give me a refund. I don't want to deal with them at all if this is how they do business!!! These people are sketchy AF, particularly Kevin Morris!!!!

Serviced my furnace with them last autumn. A lady over the phone told me the guy will come to inspect the unit and replace an air filter accordingly either with their filter (included in the quote of $125) or mine if I wish so. The filter in the unit was really dirty with piles of dust left by previous owners. The service man neither cleaned nor replaced the filter and even didn't mention the issue to me while saying my furnace is in a good condition. I only hope that he inspected the vital parts correctly... At least the furnace didn't brake during the winter and spring.

Our Rheem furnace stopped delivering heat on 01-28-17.  We scheduled with Black Lion for 01-31-17.  Adam devoted a substantial amount of time and effort diagnosing and resolving our problem, which was completed on a second visit on 02-01-17.  Adam was dedicated and professional in his efforts to address the issue.  The primary cause of the delay in fixing our furnace was the inability to obtain replacement parts locally.  

We've come to expect a certain level of dedication and professionalism from Black Lion, and they continue to live up to our expectations.  We use and continue to recommend Black Lion for our HVAC needs.

I was planning on going with them to install a new air conditioner and furnace replacement, but I decided against it. This is due to what I consider shady behavior when they are sending over their quotes.

I originally got quoted for several different options. When I responded that I wanted to go with a specific option, but that I wanted to know if there were any additional discounts, I received a response with a couple of extra discounts added to my quote. On closer inspection, they had raised the base price of the quote prior to the discount, so it was actually not really a discount. When I questioned them about it, they said that the reason why the quote increased was because of a new thermostat that was required. (The quote increased by over $600! That is one expensive thermostat!) The thermostat was NOT mentioned at all in the new quote.

Black Lion then sent me a revised quote that matched my original base quote, but the discount was removed. I had to ask why this was the case, and they said it was because I didn't get the thermostat. (Why wasn't this mentioned prior?)

There is no transparency at all to how the pricing works. You have to watch your quotes or they will easily overcharge you. The person that gave me a quote also told me that Carrier made mediocre equipment and that Bryant was significantly more high end. They are owned by the same company and they are basically the same equipment especially when you compare specific models together. I don't understand this at all.

I'm no HVAC person. I don't really know all the intricacies of the business or the equipment or any of that. However, I do know basic math and something definitely doesn't add up.

I really enjoyed working with Black Lion Heating & Air Conditioning company! Jason, the sales rep, was really helpful in helping us decide on a system, getting us approved for the city rebate and helping us connect Lyani who helped us with a payment plan and setting a date for the installation to take place.
It was like clockwork!
The team that came out to do the work, Phillip, Bruno, and Kyle, were awesome! They answered all our questions, showed us what they were doing and worked quickly. I appreciated their explanations of the different steps they were doing. Also, Phillip knew we were trying to maintain as much storage space as possible and he and Bruno did a great job installing the ducting so we could still use as much of our attic space as possible. Also, the electrician, Matt, in addition to doing a great job setting up the electrical component of our heat pump, he helped us identify issues to address in the future.
The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 was there were some boards in our attic that we need to replace after the work. It was nothing major, it was just unexpected. Overall, I am really impressed with this company and happy with their work and what they did to make our home a better living space.

We needed to get a gas furnace serviced for a home we were selling. After reading through the reviews, I decided to call Black Lion and get their quote and schedule to have someone come down.
The quote came in at a very agreeable price, and they were able to slot someone in very quickly as well. The initial impression was very good, and I felt good in my choice to go with Black Lion.
Day of service - Steve showed up right when he said he would. He serviced the furnace in a timely fashion, and we had a great chat the entire time he was here. If I had a question, he explained without being condescending or anything. The service call took less time than the first person I spoke to thought it would, which is nothing to complain about at all. Steve was able to identify/locate an issue very quickly, offered solutions and implemented the solution quickly and effortlessly.

People that know their stuff and have been doing it a long time have a knack for making things look easy :). Steve definitely knows what he is doing.

Overall, I'm very happy with Black Lion, and if I have HVAC needs again, they'll be my first call.

I work for a real estate group that had a home listing on the market on October 23rd. The home had a broken gas fireplace and Black Lion was the only place out of the several I called that was able to fit us in at a short notice. They were professional and incredibly helpful. The serviceman who came out was very polite and worked quickly. I would highly recommend Black Lion HVAC for any of your HVAC needs, they're wonderful!

My 15 year old furnace broke at my new house right after Thanksgiving. I called around and everyone was overbooked. I finally called Black Lion and they had someone out the next day to look at my furnace. The guy who inspected it was very straight forward with me. My furnance was so old that it would have cost almost the same as buying a new furnace. He gave me several options: pricing to fix my old furnace and a few different types of furnaces that could be installed new. I decided to just get a new furnace. To my surprise, they sent their crew out the next day to install my new furnace and take my old furnace away. My new furnace has been keeping me warm the last few weeks with the cold weather. It's been great! I have recommended Black Lion to a few people already (who thanked me for recommending them!).

This is by far the worst after sales experience I had with any contractor. After they cashed in the contract money, I got to see the other side. Ignoring calls, emails, suggesting bogus fixes. They lied to me about a number of things and don't want to fix the issues they left me with. I paid a total of $61,233 to get awoken every night to the noise of this stupid head unit in my bedroom. And they don't know how to fix it.

They were quick to come out, Jason Smith, sales person seemed cheerful but not knowledgeable. They didn't run heat/cool calculations, rule of thumb numbers one can find on the internet. I thought that's not an issue since I know the limiting factors for me is the number of rooms, I knew my ducting system was not adequate.

We had few iterations on the quote, I upgraded to ceiling mounted units, so I don't end up with wall mounted units in every room in the house. This seem to make most sense. They said it's super quite, you won't even hear it. I also asked for a controller in each room and an app to control all the units. Then I signed the contract and got on the schedule.

There were few hiccups during install. First warning signal; unlike every other contractor I've had who've been at my house for more than 2 days, then had no plan whatsoever. I expected a walkthrough on day one to tell me what will happen when, but got nothing. They sent me two guys and said they'll be here for 12 days. In the first few days they would come at 8, load and unload things from the car, and then start actual work by 10. At 2 they're cleaning up and getting ready to leave. Progress was slow, but I didn't want to intervene. Then came the first big failure; turns out the units they're going to install don't have controllers in the room, and just an app. Kumo cloud is 1.5 start on the appstore. We went into a loop of trying to figure out how to make it work and me being patient and asking for next step. This was a big mistake; I should've told them to stop right then and there, until they can install proper controllers as per our agreement. To date they don't know how to fix this flawed setup and are refusing to install controllers.

While the controllers were ongoing the install finished. They had to replace couple of pumps and fans for two units that refused to start. Exactly two days after the installation, and while I'm still waiting on follow up about the controllers, the units began to make noise. All of them especially the one in my bedroom. It's a noise ritual that starts in the middle of the night when the unit starts. The louvers make a loud noise to open up (unlike any wall mount unit I've seen), followed by noise of the fan, then the rush of the coolant into the coil, and lastly the drain pump when it starts. By this time my entire family is awake. then again once it shuts off; we hear the louvers, followed by a terrible humming noise for 10 minutes non-stop that drives me nuts. I have tinnitus already and this is like torture to me.

I called their office multiple time asking for follow up about the controllers and noise. Every time they say; we'll leave a message to Kyle (seems like the lead service tech) and he's call you back but he never did. After that they transferred me to the service department to get someone out. The person who came (Chris) was clueless. I mean like a fake tech, he doesn't understand anything about how this thing work. He didn't check anything, just heard the noise and told me I need to make a phone call. He called the Sales rep Jason, then came to relay his message: It's a mechanical system and call mechanical systems make noise. I wanted to smash something when I heard that statement. It was basically, we got the money take a hike, we don't care if you can't sleep with this noise.

I got furious and left a message to the owner Ben at the office. They told me he's travelling, I waited a week and nothing happened. I called again, Ben is still traveling. That's interesting, I asked for his email. I emailed him. He replied right away with his phone number. I call him, nice guy. We'll take care of everything. I'll get someone out and will call Mitsubishi to fix the controllers, this will work fine. Kyle comes again, and still can't figure out the problem of the various noise sources. Maybe it's the pump, we're order a replacement (that was two weeks ago). I send another email to Ben, this time I get an auto response that he's traveling. Then Jason comes to check, makes some suggestions. Kyle comes again to try them out. Issues as is, we're waiting on the pumps to arrive from Texas. When he left the unit in my son's room made huge noise. I emailed the owner again, no response. My calls to him now go straight to voice mail. Jason says he was going to call me the 18th or 19th (today) but nothing. I email and call and no response.
My simple need is for the 61K system to work. I will pursue them in every avenue till they fix it or give me my money back.

The estimate was timely, about 30% above competitors. Took 2 weeks to schedule an installer. Was supposed to arrive at 8am, arrived at 9:30, same guy as gave the estimate. He said that he was there to give another estimate and would not be able to install the fans. Nice, I wonder what I might have done with that time, ah yes, not had to take a personal day!

I just moved into a new home that's facing west and so I get the sun from east to the west. Used to have a Bryant AC in my old home so I know Bryant is the brand that I will go with. I contacted all the authorized dealers of Bryant.

Company A did the install for me in the last house, seems to be super busy and never seems to get any customer service, except a few texts. However, they seem to know about Bryant's products very well and was immediately able to say that the proposed model I got from company B will not work with my 2-stage furnace.

Company B is the contractor who installed the furnace when this house is built, has all the design drawings etc. When I called company B, they gave me a quote on paper, without even coming down to see the house, number of windows, heat / gain ratio etc and simply proposed me 3 options. Obviously, at 3 price range!

I also contacted company W who has a super good sales guy who seems to know the solution. In fact, the solution they proposed is what I like the most, but the price is just over the mountain! 40% more than competitor. Well, I guess, even if it's a really prestigious company and has excellent service, I don't see a reason to pay the premium! But thanks to company W though, as the solution they proposed is what I adopted for the house. They quoted me $12K and I paid $9K with Black Lion.

Now the good part. Black Lion :) To be honest, I wasn't quite impressed when the sales guy Ed shows up. He seems to know the product, but yet he seems to be getting a lot of 2nd opinion on the phone call with the owners of the company. He went to the attic to have a look, but didn't really go up to see what furnace, take measurements etc. But still, he is a great guy and provided me with a reasonable quotes. I feel Black Lion is not into getting the money to jerk up sales price, they would propose a solution for what the money is worth and more importantly, what is needed.

I shared the solution from company W to Black Lion and Ed was not 100% of that, so the next day, he brought Nick the install manager to my house and we did a thorough evaluation. Oh ya, for sure, Nick knows what he is doing and he is an expert! He made a good proposal, explained why the proposal will work. I needed to add duct work, and he explained which locations will be the based. I wanted more duct, and he said well - we can still add if needed later. So, again, not just spending money for what may not be needed. The motor fan had a noise in the return and company W told me because the pipe was too close to the fan and so I get this 'propeller' type noise, when I told Nick of the issue, he went to the attic AGAIN as he suspected it was a faulty fan motor that will not be able to handle the AC and will soon die. So, he is right and the fan motor has to be replaced. Even better, it's under warranty by York and so black lion got it all sorted out and I get a new fan with the install.

Black Lion is also fantastic as they were able to send the crew out to install that quickly. I don't believe it is necessary because they are small and not having business, maybe but that's why it's important not to just go for the big guys. The newer company that's good needs to be given a chance to become better too! Big guys always like to say that that the small guys are not good enough, not enough creditability, but hey - big guys were once small too!! So, for those who think because Black Lion is only a 5 year old company, I would say give them a chance, but do your homework so you know you are buying a good solution with a reasonable price.

Lastly, the install crew is just amazing! Led by Renzo and Sean, totally friendly and amazing people. What I like most is even in the temperature of 100+ in the attic, they guys are still smiling and friendly whenever I bumped into them! You can tell they really want to do a good job and have fun at the same time! The electricians are great too! Efficient and very helpful to give me tips on a problem I was having with a switch while they were trying to do their job too!

All in all, I am happy with the install. My house is a 3200 sq ft house, and I could go with a 3.5 or 4 tonne unit, but I went with 3.5 tonne so the house does not become a freezer and is too cold. Had the AC running for the night and looking forward to the upcoming hot weather to see how the system behaves overall!

I like the responsiveness of the team from Black Lion and I have recommended them to my neighbor too!

I usually do not write such long reviews with such long story, but I felt it's good to share my experience as I am sure many will have the same experience. So many solution, which is the best. Each competitor always seems to say that the solution from another competitor is not good :) so we consumers never get a good price point to compare! haha! Anyways, that's all I have and hope this helps!

Black Lion has done our regular maintenance on our 5 yr old furnace for the past 3 years. Last year we had AC installed. They did a great job. Explained all the steps and how things would happen and what we needed to do to prepare. Install went smoothly and the AC unit has had no problems. Would highly recommend them!

Had a furnace and AC unit installed. By far, the best for pricing and customer service. I had requested some help with my thermostat a couple of months after install, and a tech came out (on time!) and helped to ensure I was good to go. Everyone at Black Lion has been courteous, helpful and professional. Love the new AC and furnace.. Both work great. So glad I chose Black Lion... Highly recommend!!

I had an appointment today at 8:30 AM for a new AC unit (around $7K). They did not show up nor called me. How can someone would trust a company that doesn't show up for an initial estimate where you would be spending $7K? Reading reviews here on yelp, I see others have had the same experience: no show!

We had A/C installed a couple of days ago by Black Lion HVAC and the experience was impressed! The crew - Sal, Renzo and Emilio demonstrated their professionals in the installation. So did the electrician crew led by Brian. They were kind, considerate, and the most important - pleasant with smiles all the time. A happy crew with an excellent job definitely ends up with a happy customer. I'm so glad to have these folks on site. Their work was very organized and the finished job looks clean and great. The weather for now is still cool and we are glad to be ready. Highly recommend the crew and Black Lion HVAC.

Black Lion and their crew were amazing start to finish!

Jason came out last week and gave us an estimate on the installation of an air conditioner.  While talking, we decided to go ahead and upgrade our furnace to a high efficiency one and put in a Nest thermostat (both of which I brought up-Jason didn't push any products).  Jason didn't try to sell any of it to us, but simply presented the options and made his recommendations.  He sent a written estimate with three options for us within a couple hours.  We picked which one we wanted to proceed with and were scheduled for installation all on the same day!

Yesterday was installation day and we were given the window of 8am-9am for arrival of the team.  They arrived around 8:30am and were all very kind and respectful.  They did a tour of the area and worked together on a plan of action since the placement of all the lines was kind of tricky due to a brick fireplace, next to a cinderblock retaining wall, piping through the garage, electrical coming from the top floor on the outside of the house, and wiring through our very short attic.  They figured it out and knocked the project out in one day.  I don't think the worked stopped at any point, they seemed to even eat lunch in shifts so there was no delay.  

Phil and Renzo were great and got the job done!  Our previous thermostat was wireless, so there was no wiring to connect our new Nest system to.  They worked their tails off with Brian (electrician) to get everything situated exactly as planned.  They all cleaned up after themselves too, which I appreciate.  Our 2 year-old was home at the beginning and end of the project and they were all very nice to her and gave her a stuffed animal which made her day.  I work from home and was able to have a productive workday with everything going on because they were respectful of my situation and I really appreciate that.

I wouldn't hesitate for one second to recommend this company to anyone.  They are fantastic!

I got a new furnace from them 3 years ago, and I asked for one thing: A quiet furnace. They gave me the opposite of what I asked. The new furnace is definitely louder, and stays on longer than my previous one. Also, they force you to do the annual maintenance to honor the warranty, and keep raising the prices. This year, I'm paying 30% more and they say it is because of inflation!!!! Overall, I'm not happy with what I got and how they provide service, and won't use their services again.

These guys were awesome. Things started as a simple project - knock down a wall and move the radiant heat wall units to a different wall. Approved the estimate, work crew showed up on time, started to peek behind the wall and discovered that the tubing I had was defective and has been yanked from the market for excessive failures (Kitec - also a class action lawsuit). They said they didn't want to touch it in fear of making it worse, but walked around the house and gave me an idea of what it would take to replace.

Called around to confirm their assessment - every HVAC person said the tubing was crap and they only did replacements. Had Black Lion give me a new estimate, which was 1/2 of anyone else (one guy quoted me $20K sight unseen and said anyone who came in cheaper had no idea what they were doing).

The crew was fantastic, especially as the project became one of those nightmare projects. Every time they opened a wall or ceiling, they found another unexpected scenario that they could never have anticipated. At every step they stopped and explained the problem and potential options. I never felt pressured for any solution, and they took my questions and suggestions seriously.

As the project started to grow, I contacted their office and asked how the unexpected additional work would affect their quote. Their response: The quote is the quote. If time/labor goes over, that's on us and the price stays the same. What an awesome approach!

At every step they also took extraordinary care to make sure our belongings remained undamaged. They carefully kept every piece of ceiling, support, screw, nail, everything so they could put it back later exactly the same.

When the project reached a point where I was facing a complete bathroom remodel in order to yank our some hard to reach tubing (the bathroom had been remodeled around the unit), we stopped and re-considered and they suggested installing ductless units instead of just replacing the tubing and keeping everything else the same (this was on Day 2). Either way they would continue to yank out the defective tubing, and in the meantime I talked with their estimator Kevin about options. When I had to leave for an appointment and said I wouldn't be free until 10pm, Kevin directed me to Ben, the owner, who talked with me for an hour explaining the various equipment options, how it would affect the project and my house, everything. Never once did he pressure me to add on to the job - he said they would do it either way, no problem. I decided to switch to the ductless units and all they charged me for was the equipment cost - labor stayed the same even though the project is going an extra day.

Overall, the service at their head office and their work crew was phenomenal. Communication was excellent, and thoughtfulness and consideration of the work crew was great. They also warranty both equipment and labor (labor for 1 year, but if I continue annual maintenance with them they'll warranty labor up to 12 years - no commitment).

Hopefully I'll never need HVAC work again but if I do this will be the only company I'll call.

AVOID THIS COMPANY!!!  They were responsive in getting the appointment scheduled.  The guy was punctual.  The deal I purchased on Angie's list for a furnace tune-up was a good price. The problem was the guy told me I should replace the control board and add a surge protector for the cost of $700 even though my furnace had been working just fine. He said the part was showing signs of wear.  My furnace is only 9 years old.

Then, all the sudden, a few days later when it got cold one night, the furnace would not work!  I scheduled a return appointment but it something seemed fishy. The furnace had been working perfectly! It has been serviced yearly, no one has ever said the part looked worn, and then all the sudden, after Black Lion services it, it won't come on at all?  

After close inspection, I discovered he rigged it so it wouldn't turn on!!  He took the metal bar on the inside of the furnace door and reversed it so that when the door was put back into place, the bar no longer depressed the start button.  I reversed the bar to the correct position and lo and behold, my furnace is working like a charm.

I will be canceling the follow up appointment and reporting this company to the BBB!

Our furnace started blowing cold air only, right at the beginning of this cold snap of course. Great timing!! I reviewed several companies on Yelp and made a few calls to get more information in getting it repaired.  

Out of the four companies I contacted, Black Lion was the only one who answered the phone, gave me a reasonable rate to come out SAME DAY, even though it was after hours, and was extremely nice on the phone.

He arrived that evening, and fixed our furnace in about ten minutes. We have heat again!!!  To top if off, Black Lion is affordable and Ben is a really nice and honest guy.  We'll for sure call him again when the need arises and recommend him to our friends and family! Thanks Black Lion!

Price was 2-3 times as expensive as other quotes.  Total was over $1,100 to replace a 50 amp GCI and about 10 feet of replacement wiring for hot tub.  Total was less than 3 total hours, on two trips.  First visit was for troubleshooting ($193 and none of it applied to any work), but they were on time.  The second visit  (required since the troubleshooting: failed to disclose a wire problem) they missed the 2 hour service window (with no call) and were 1 1/2 hours late.

Haven't had the weather to test the A/C I had installed yet, but excellent experience so far.

Estimate/Quote Scheduling - Brian showed up on time, was friendly, knowledgeable and professional.  I pushed on price, but he didn't budge much (only complaint).  

The quote/cost:  Black Lion was about on par with other quotes which I still feel are all a bit high, but feedback from colleagues and other reviews won Black Lion the business.

Install:  Scheduled for 8am.  First crew (electricians - Dominick and one other -forgot name) showed up at 7:50AM (If you're on time, you're late.....If you're early, you're on time - always been my motto).  Extremely polite, offered options and suggestions, and got to work right away.

HVAC installers (Sal and Renzo) showed up shortly after Electricians.  Really, really friendly, extremely polite, and hard working.  Not sure they even took 10 minutes for lunch.  In the end, they walked through every aspect of install, and made sure I had no questions unanswered.

Simply based on this crew alone, i would recommend Black Lion all day long.  Seems others would too.

Sal and Justin installed a new furnace in my home earlier this week and they were fantastic. Both were friendly, super knowledgeable, kept me informed throughout the installation process and most importantly just down to earth great guys. They completed the install much quicker than I expected as they had to remove a 50+ year old furnace which for whatever reason was cemented to the ground. They cleaned up after themselves and left everything spotless. I highly recommend Black Lion.

I called Black Lion last week because, well, summer's over!  Good thing I did because the technician (Ben) told me they are all booked for the week.  Come on procrastinators!  I have two furnaces at the house thanks to an addition and Ben was quick to diagnose and fix an issue with the main unit at no cost to me.  He did a thorough inspection and cleaning/maintenance of both units and wasn't rushing out the door even though he was extremely busy today.  The price was exactly as quoted over the phone and the service was prompt and friendly.  The yelp deal was more than worth it - $30 off $125.  For new filters, cleaning and inspection if cost me $145 (with the deal applied) for two furnaces!  Contrast that with one of their competitors who charged my wife $240 just to check a problem last winter (a hose had become plugged).  

These guys are great!

It was 40 something degrees outside and we had no heat for 3 days... Black Lion came to the rescue and within 10 minutes figured out what was wrong, fixed it and we had heat started back up about 30 minutes later! Our animals thank you and we thank you guys!!

I had a great experience with Black Lion. I called several HVAC companies for a quote on a new heat pump. Black Lion was response and one of the few who was able to set an appt up in a matter of days, not weeks. Jason who provided the quote spent a lot of time with me going over options and providing his expertise when I asked. Once I decided to go with Black Lion their installation schedule was also reasonable and the installers (Phil, Jack and Jerry) were very prompt and courteous. I could tell they take pride in their work which is hard to find these days. Phone even took a few moments he did not need to to point out a small leak in my water heater. He even took the time to help fix it at no cost. Great experience all around. Thank you.

Furnace went out, we needed a replacement quickly because our 93 year old mother lives with us and the weather was cold. In one phone call they were out, diagnosed the problem an installed a new furnace by mid-afternoon.  The two installers, Renzo and Phil, were quick, clean and courteous. They did a quality job. We just purchased a home that had a massive converted oil furnace that was at least 35 years old. Jerry and the team and Black Lion were able to remove the old furnace out of a small closet area (which involved disassembling some wall-mounted shelving). They installed a new furnace, installed a new electrical switch to control power to the unit, added a water shutoff valve, re-built the duct work at the furnace, and cleaned all the ducts. We also had two old bathroom fans replaced and rerouted from venting into the attic to venting out through the roof. The team was professional, showed up on time, and completed the project in one day.

Scheduling a tune-up for furnace and heat pump with Black Lion was great.  I had to move the originally scheduled date due to a conflict and they were able to reschedule for the next week.  On the service day, Braxten and Nick called ahead 30 minutes before they arrived.  They were friendly, professional and thorough.  I was given a summary of what is in good working order and what may be coming due for service/repairs.  Their cost is reasonable and the service is excellent.

Renzo and Emilio installed our new high energy efficient furnace today, Nov. 4, 2016.   The gentlemen were friendly, showed up on time and showed us how to use the system after it was completed. They cleaned up the worksite after they were done.
Jason Smith was the sales person who we first met at the Everett Home Show and he was very knowledgeable and showed great patience with us during the process before we made our decision.
Never during the process did we feel pressured, and what set them apart from the other companies was they sent us a nice thank you card after they came out to give us a quote. Sometimes the little things make the difference.

First, my initial consultation with the owner Ben, was great.  He was punctual, friendly and very knowledgeable about his business.  He made sure to answer any questions I had, made recommendations based on his experience.  Example he could have recommended the more expensive air conditioner but explained how the one he was suggesting would work better for the size of my house.   We setup the install date to be done about a week and half later.

The day of the install, the HVAC team, Jason and Renzo, did a wonderful job and I couldn't be happier.  They showed up on time, got to work quickly and were very friendly and professional during the install.  Everything was cleaned up after the fact.

The electrical team, Kiernan and Matt, were just great.  They walked me through what they needed to do, made sure I was happy and okay with the plan before starting any work.

At the end, Jason walked me through how to use my new thermostat and made sure any and all questions were answered.  Really I couldn't be happier with the work and experience I had with Black Lion.  I would highly recommend them, so much so I decided to sign an annual maintenance plan with them so they can keep my new air conditioner and furnace in tip top shape.

Description of Work done:
Install new Bryant air conditioner.  Tied into existing furnace and duct work.  Ran electrical to outdoor unit via crawl space. Set outdoor unit on pad. Installed new thermostat. And took care of all the permits.

Always wanted AC and decided to pull the trigger. Had a few bids and Went with Black Lion b/c of all the positive yelp and angie's list reviews. Ed came out on Saturday morning on time to give me a quote. They actually matched another competitor's price to gain my business.

On day of install, Sal, Renzo and their crew came out early to get things started. They customized the coil box to make it look nice to go with my furnace. Install went smooth, they were able to finish earlier than I had expected. They re-routed the wiring to the other side of the house, install an extra outlet, and place the AC unit in a nice location. Every time they came into my house, they showed respect by taking off their shoes. I also had a wifi thermostat installed as well, and Renzo walked me through setting it up. Sal and Renzo also walked me through the install, showing me what they did.

Im new to yelp, but I had to sign up to let people know what a wonderful crew and company these guys are. I would recommend these guys to all of my friends.

One of the most disappointing experience because I chose this particular company because they rated very high.  The tech that came out to assess my air conditioner wasn't familiar with the overall cost for repairing the unit.  Proceeded to basically guesstimate it would cost anywhere from $4,000 to $12,000. When I started to inquire about why such a large range he could not give me any specifics and became very defensive.  At that point I decided I would have to basically end my relationship and his service call and go get pursue a more qualified HVAC company to fix my air conditioner.  I called competitive local HVAC company and they repaired the unit for less than $2,000. I would avoid black lion like the plague.

Our consultation was with their rep was good, he was nice, punctual and friendly.  He also seemed knowledgeable about the products he sold.  I just wasn't happy with their price.  We got three bids and they were almost double.  Maybe because I wasn't dealing with the owner and had to pay commissions. It is unfortunate that you replied to a yelp review instead of contacting us. We have left you countless opportunities to reach us. Your lack of contact gave us no other recourse.

1. Our biggest issue was the rebate after all the other fiascos.  Ben specifically told us that your company takes care of the rebate. One less thing  we would not have to worry about. Ben told us that your company has a direct contact person at PSE.  If there was a problem at anytime with submitting said paperwork I would have been more then capable of sending it in. I never held payment back to not get rebate.  I paid 1st half at beginning of job then 2nd half when job was complete. That is the norm to wait till the job is complete.  I did not know it was going to take 2 months. If you recall I contacted your office for a paid invoice, all documented by texts & emails.

2. No personal belongings were in the attic where you did 98% of work. You never told us there was a problem with the storage area before getting to the attic. I asked techs and they always told me they had plenty of space and is was much better than what they were used too.

3. Your company relocated equipment in a different location, over our living room, then what Ben had originally discussed with us, over the kitchen. We were concerned and brought it to you, as we had jet engine sounds above the living room. You had to rework venting to get it quieter. If you remember you recommended we move the furnace over the living room, that is not what we wanted. We never made any changes it was always a straight install of Heating & AC

4. There was no help from your company with the plumbing leak as the person never showed up or called us back. Ben was kind enough to come out to take a look that night. He recommended someone but that was it.  It impressed us at the time but that was not enough to make up for all the other mishaps. Yes, we did not know anyone yet to help us with the leak as we just had moved to the area.  I resolved it with a call to our insurance company and they had someone out that night.

5. Woodinville inspector did come out and had gas lines secured under crawl space to code. No emergency tech, it was your regular tech he actually fixed a mistake of the first tech that started the job.  Yes, it is true that Home Depot techs were uncomfortable installing the gas dryer to the gas line as it was set up. It was important to call your company for follow up because we did not know what they were talking about. I had lost faith in your company by then and asked an inspector to check the whole thing out.

6. We never asked the electrician to do any extra work for us. He did that all on his own.  An extra outlet in the kitchen is what he put in.  We had no problem paying him but that is not what happened.  Your company broke ties with him and he showed up seeking payment and you told us not to worry about it.  It was odd having 2 men show up at my home speaking poorly of their ties with your company.  It made me very uncomfortable so I asked for an invoice and told him we would send payment after I spoke with your office.

I have plenty on my hands caring for my husband. Your company knew of my circumstances, our daily trips to UW for Neuro rehab.  You knew my focus was on helping my husband recover from a massive TBI.  I left you and your techs in my home for countless hours hoping you would complete the work to help make our  home more comfortable to aid him in his recovery. I feel you have taken advantage of our situation and in the end did not help me outside of the unit functioning properly.  From your own reviews on yelp it shows that your company submits rebates for your customers, (well almost).  All it takes is a little ownership when you have made a mistake, that is called having integrity. You know how to make this right, you can still contact us directly.

Unethical business practices! While I can not speak to the quality of their work, I have their install team on camera coming onto my private property and plugging in their equipment to electrical outlets on the exterior of my house. To reiterate, this company feels like they can use unrelated property owners utilities without permission. No, this wasn't a neighborly mix up -- the job they were working on was directly across the street. When calling into the company multiple times asking for a general manager, they were unhelpful and passed my info along, saying I could expect a call, hopefully by tomorrow morning. How does this company expect to problem solve and handle job site issues with professionalism if they can't even pass along information to the appropriate contacts in a timely manner? Still have not received a call back. Hopefully they price their services well and warranty their work because this is a poor reflection of their business practices.

Nick was great! He showed up on time and was extremely helpful and honest. I had booked the appointment because I purchased a smart thermostat that needed four wires (I only have two). Nick mentioned the thermostat I had was one he often replaced or had issues. So, instead he installed a programmable thermostat he had on hand and it didn't require new wiring. He was quick to install it and set it up, explaining everything along the way. I would definitely recommend Black Lion!

I had a new furnace, air conditioner, and water heater installed with Black Lion and they did a great job. There was a hiccup where the city inspector insisted that I install a tankless water heater because my regular one was blocking easy access to the furnace. I had this installed but it turns out the inspector had later retracted this claim but neither Black Lion nor I knew this and I ended up spending a lot of unnecessary money. Black Lion were very apologetic and offered me a free one year inspection to make up for it. Knocking off one star for the price though, theses guys are expensive. The annual inspection costs going forward are $325!

Within the last week or so our furnace in the attic went out so we requested a service call via yelp and they responded quickly via the app and scheduled an appt. Everett came out and spent time troubleshooting our system and then clearly discussed our options. We decided to replace the very old unit. He mentioned that the space in the attic was tight but assured us they could do it and instructed me that they may have to cut the opening to get into the space larger so that they can remove the old and install the new. We understood and agreed and competed all the necessary paperwork to get the ball rolling. We were able to get an installation appt for the very next day which we greatly appreciated being Winter. The installation team of Will and Greg showed up as scheduled the next day and got to work. They ran into an unforeseen problem that prevented them from removing the old unit  and installing the new. However they came up with a solution that would allow them to compete the job and one that would be the least intrusive for us so although we were immediately concerned about this issue it was quickly and amicably resolved and the end result despite the challenge is exactly what was promised. Based on the entire  experience with Black Lion Heating I can confidently say that the company stands behind their work and commitment 100%. They are professional, diligent and friendly.

I get the impression that choosing an HVAC company is a lot like choosing an auto mechanic.  You need to be able to trust who you hire.  I got the recommendation for Black Lion from a coworker who used to work in HVAC.  I was not disappointed.   The tech that they sent out was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient.  He was able to repair my furnace and the service charge was very reasonable.  I could not be happier with their service!

I am only giving them 1 star because I cannot give them zero.  Our contractor chose them and we have had nothing but a nightmare since they did work in our remodel.  They put in venting for a dryer that had at least 5 90degree angles in a 30 foot run (not to code by any stretch).  They vented out fireplaces completely wrong and we just found out we were very lucky our house didn't burn down.  The heat pump they sold us works fine but makes our walls make banging noises in the night!  The best thing they did for us is not show up for appointments so many times that we gave up on them and had someone that knows what they are doing clean up their mess.  You have been warned,  I am seriously wondering if any of the glowing reviews could be real.

We met Ben at the Home Show and was impressed by his patience with our questions. Black Lion crew is totally pro, efficient, and responsive to our suggestions. At the end of the long day I asked them to not install the channel around two down spouts, instead keep their equipment on a straight path, and they quickly made the change. Patrick is highly knowledgable and calmly led the crew until the end of the install. Super happy from start to finish.

We had them scheduled for furnace and fireplace servicing. The servicing guy turned up right on schedule. That's about the stars earned.
Seems like Black Lion has acquired another HVAC dealer Highlander and sent us a staff from there.
Within 10 minutes of coming in, and checking our furnace in the garage, he told us that the heat exchanger has cracked and the furnace would need to be replaced. Before we could ask anything more, he handed out the estimates of different models that they install, and said they would 'write-off' the servicing charge today if we got the replacement.
It completely put us off. My husband asked him to take the CO reading to know whats the severity. With some hesitation, he did get the reading and mentioned its just below the limit, but before my husband could take a direct look at the reading, he pulled off the device.
Next to the furnace servicing - most he did was re-ignite the pilot (which we had switched off during summer), and wipe the glass clean of debris.
Before he left, I asked him if he checked the filter in the furnace, to which he replied a meek 'No' and went back. He did leave us an extra filter, saying you can change it later, as the current filter was still good.
Overall, I think he finished all his work in about 30 mins, and was only interested in selling us a new furnace. While we are no HVAC pros, this definitely did not feel good.
I do not feel that the servicing quality or time was worth the 200$ I paid.

I can't say enough good things about this company!  We have worked with several HVAC companies and this will be the only one I recommend to anyone.  They did a full heat pump/furnace replacement in our Woodinville area home and every step of the process was low-stress on us and thoroughly explained.  They kept my home clean which means a lot to me, and our formerly frigid home is deliciously cozy!  When we had questions they were very understanding and patient in explaining.  They helped us with the process of getting a nice fat rebate from the Snohomish PUD, too!

Hire this company.  Their prices are competitive and they do a fantastic job.

Our furnace had been installed 2 years ago by a firm that Black Lion took over following the previous owner's retirement.  Accordingly, when we called the predecessor due to noises in the furnace that concerned us, Black Lion answered.  The technician came out, pronounced the problem was a failing inducer motor and gave us a quote for over $500 to replace the motor.  The tech stated that there was a $100 handling fee the manufacturer would charge them and they would pass on to us, though he agreed the motor itself was covered under warranty.  We called the manufacturer, who said they did not charge such a fee, and so we called another company to replace the motor.  That other company did not charge a handling fee and only charged us $125 to replace the motor.  So, I'd suggest checking out Black Lion's charges before actually hiring them to do work.

First,  Steve came out to do maintenance on the furnace.  He was fabulous, courteous, respectful, friendly and professional and efficient.  He found cracks - ahhh not good.  He had me come to the furnace and see, check for myself.  I loved that!  We discussed my options.  It was clear I needed a new gas furnace.  He again was respectful as he presented the furnace options.  I informed him of my personal situation and he respected my decision.  Steve is a great representative for the Company.  Wonderful.
 
Second,  Furnace Installation day:  Sean, Bruno and Brian N.  were the installation team.  Again they were all fabulous, courteous, respectful, friendly and professional, oh yes and efficient.  They all worked hard and made sure everything functioned perfectly together.  Sean shared with me everything they did at the furnace site and some of the functionality/features.   I had a thermostat that was  almost as old as me (that's old) and we discussed the idea of changing it out.  I agreed and again they were very respectful of my choices.  They spent time with me to demonstrate the functioning of the thermostat and of course left all of the literature.  

Both times the employees cleaned up after they were finished with their work

The whole team was great.  I appreciated that they put up with my dogs who kept asking them to let them out of their condo's.  I wouldn't allow it until toward the end of the day as the canines could have created a Cat in the Hat situation (my dogs are like thing one and thing two (times two) - but they don't clean up after themselves).  

Anyway, congratulations to Black Lion.  You have made some great hiring decisions.  My experience of the employees mentioned here are great representatives for your Company.

We moved into a tri-level house and there was air conditioning only on the very top level where the bedrooms are.  The weather became unbearable so we turned on the air conditioning, it wasn't working.  We weren't happy with the company that originally installed it cuz the tech/owner was so flakey, he wouldn't show up when appointments were made and the 1-2 times he did show up, he was extremely late and practically wasted our day.  We decided to go with Black Lion after reading their reviews online and decided on getting air conditioning installed for the rest of the levels.  They came out and installed units for all the levels but after they left, we noticed that the top level was still not working.  They came out several times and each time, they couldn't find the problem.  They said they may have to knock down walls and re-do everything, and it would cost extra from what we already paid!  We weren't happy with Black Lion cuz we gave the business and they can't even do it right.  Finally, they sent Brad, he came out twice and tried two things (not sure how to explain) but the latter test worked and cool air was flowing.  Whatever he did, it was very tedious but he didn't give up and got the unit working!  We were so appreciate of that.  I'm not sure if we're happy with Black Lion as a company but were are certainly very happy and satisfied the work that Brad did to fix the problem.  He was a super nice guy and tried hard to help us out so we wouldn't have to pay extra (which would be a lot).  I couldn't write this review soon after cuz weather was cold, now that it's summer, we are using it more often and really love the work that Brad did!  Thanks Brad!  He was honest, fair, very helpful and very professional!!!  I gave them 4-stars only because of Brad!

Black Lion was my choice upon considering four other bids (both higher and lower price points) and upon recommendation from my neighbor.  They estimated it would take a day to install a replacement furnace and a new heat pump system.  By the middle of the day - we encountered an unforeseeable problem.  To mitigate the time it would take to resolve it, they sent out additional staff to assist.  And when the day got late and the issue was still unresolved, the owners of the company came out to meet with the installers.  They talked as a group, weighed options and decided as a team how to proceed. True teamwork.  Most importantly, they assured me that it wouldn't be done with any less professionalism or quality due to the amount of time and energy they had already put in that day.

In the end, the installers worked much of a second day to finish the work.  A cost that the company automatically incurred without complaint.  And a job well done.  My systems work beautifully and as promised.  I'm a fan of Black Lion and will continue to refer them to others.

After three weeks and a dozen messages and voicemails, it's clear that these guys are simply not interested. I'd rather go with someone whom I can depend on for good service consistently instead of just a one off.

Parker and Justin did a great job installing my new Bryant high efficiency gas furnace. The duct work and PVC vents are all straight and secure, and everything is nicely insulated. They arrived on time, were friendly and accommodating, and finished in one day. Black Lion's rep, Jason, gave me a fair bid and was quite knowledgeable about heating systems. The office staff was equally efficient. I would definitely recommend this company.

We were very disappointed in this company. We chose them to install air conditioning and a new water heater due to the positive reviews on this site. The air conditioning installation went smoothly, but the work they did for the water heater was shoddy. They left a long plastic exhaust pipe sticking straight out the side of our house. It looked ridiculous and we had to bring them back to fix it.

Also, it's been more than 2 months and we have not received our rebate. Black Lion needs to do a better job working with PSE and communicating to their customers. We had to call multiple times to try to get our rebate, and as of today are still waiting.

They were so easy to schedule with, had competitive pricing, took the time to look at one other thing without charging me... and they were EARLY! Typically when one of these types of companies say they will be there at a specific time, I basically block out my day, because who really knows how long it will take them to arrive. This is the first time as a homeowner they showed up 10 minutes early. They were efficient and professional from the first phone call to the end of the service. Non pushy, reliable people. Will only be calling them when I need AC or Heat help!

We solicited bids in April, 2016 for air conditioning installation in our home. Black Lion provided the lowest, most complete bid. Their  installation was efficient and proficient, including several HVAC Techs and an electrical upgrade. In addition, they handled the permitting and inspections. Fast forward to June, 2017. Our unit was not working and when I contacted them they were prompt in scheduling an appointment. Everett was the tech assigned and he was able to identify the problem, which required another visit after the parts were obtained. We could not be happier with the outcome: again, he was efficient, proficient, personable and checked everything when he was finished to make sure that the system was 100 percent! We have complete confidence in Black Lion and highly recommend them!!

Once again, my husband and I are compelled to create a review for Black Lion HVAC so that more people can feel assured and as enthusiastic as we are about their service, their competence and their customer satisfaction.  We purchased their annual maintenance program and it is GOLD!  When Scott said we needed a new furnace because our 16 year old furnace was leaking oil, we confidently gave him the go-ahead.  Black Lion doesn't fiddle around with minor brands; they installed the newest, best furnace by Bryant.  And what a godsend it has been with our snowmageddon winter!  Scott and Everett have worked tirelessly on our troublesome humidifier.  Everett has come two days in a row and worked on it with his cell phone in his hand, speaking with the representative of the humidifier and sending photos back and forth to make sure everything was done right.  When I email Scott, he gets back to me immediately and never, ever complains about me being high maintenance!  Both Scott and Everett are courteous, concerned and prompt in their responses to our problems.  Everett is fantastic-he is knowledgeable and if he doesn't know the answer, he knows where and who to contact so that he gets it right.  He even cleans up after he works and leaves the garage area SPOTLESS. In the PNW, where heat is so essential, these are the people who will keep your house safe, warm and functioning properly.

Courteous installers Sal and Renzo did a great job on my furnace upgrade. Were time efficient and cleaned up well. Furnace working well after 3 weeks so far. 2-stage furnace was originally ordered but discovered after upon receipt that a single stage furnace was installed instead. Black Lion made it right but still was a hassle to get it fixed.

My heat stopped working today. Unfortunately, I discovered this after I got home from work. I called up Black Lion at about 9pm and they were all set to come out. However before coming over, Ben called and spent about 10 minutes on the phone with me walking me through diagnosing what the issue might be before he came out. We discovered that it was in fact the thermostat, not the furnace causing issues. He did all of this debugging with me for free. Great guy, definitely knows his stuff.

I am a HVAC and a general electrical contractor.  A friend called me today and asked me about ductless heating systems.  We talked and I informed him he should get 3 bids.  He said he did and was thinking about hiring Black Lion Heating.  I went on the WASHINGTON STATE DEPARTMENT OF LABOR AND INDUSTRIES, LOOK UP A CONTRACTOR.  I entered Black Lion and NOT to my surprise saw that Benjamin Ward and Jason Burge did not have a valid electrical license to install or repair HVAC equipment.  A electrical training card or an electrical administrator's license does NOT allow these people to work in this field.  Washington state requires licensed journeymen. The Department of Labor and Industries site, documents that this business start date is 11/18/2013, so I am puzzled by several reviews dated 6/14/2013 and 2/18/13.

When our old gas furnace finally died, I had no idea who to call. After reading the great reviews about Ben and Black Lion, then meeting him and seeing how professional and knowledgeable he was, then finding out that his estimate was so much better than Blue Flame's estimate (the PSE guy had recommended Blue Flame to me in the past), it was a no-brainer to go with Black Lion. Avoid this company like the plague - the black plague. They are quick to take your $85 visit fee. Expect to spend a small fortune on any needed repairs. And now for the kicker. After only 1 season I had the same exact problem re-appear with my AC repair. Would they be willing to go out and remedy the situation? Nope. Not even a call back when I asked them nicely for help.

Today the team from Black Lion installed a new Trane heat pump and heating unit. The team Phil, Jerry, Scott, and Matt we're true professionals.  On time as promised, install went smooth, the team was polite, shoes always off when they accessed our home, cleaned all construction pieces up down to the smallest wire clipping, made sure I was pleased, with a final question, what else can we do for you today.  Very pleased with the Trane and the install team.  Would very highly recommend the company and its staff.

Found Black Lion on Angie's List and was very impressed. Braxten was especially great -- he cleaned our furnace and then walked me through all of the details of what he did. As a new homeowner who knows very little about homeowner things, I wanted to know how our furnace works and how to check on it periodically. Braxten took the time to explain to me and answered all my questions with patience and a little humor. I will definitely be calling Black Lion again & requesting Braxten! Also - appreciated that they weren't sales-y at all.

I had my central A/C unit serviced by Black Lion, and they did a great job.  Braxton was very thorough, cleaning all aspects of the unit and then performing tests regarding the functioning of the unit (how much oil is being used, and how much acidity is in the unit).  He cleaned the blower and filters within my furnace as well, and gave tips on how to help it perform better (for one, move the dryer vent away from the unit). He was very friendly, thorough, and the unit is running great.  I liked the attitude of all people I spoke with, as well.  First time using them, but not my last.  Recommend.

This company installed our brand new A/C and Furnace a couple of months ago, and we were very happy with the professionalism, price, and installation.  The city inspector that checked the work out afterwards was very impressed with the quality of the work.  This has been our most comfortable summer so far!  I'm glad I did a bit more research and found this company!

Would not recommend this company, very poor customer service from electrician. Initially was very happy that Brian came out quickly and troubleshooted the problem. He seemed professional and was prompt. I had a chain of lights/plugs go out after changing a few outlets. He immediately found the problem outlet and tightened the screws and left a little more of a gap at the wire connections of one of the outlets. He said the rest of the outle connections need tightening as well (4 of them) and I might want to do that. So the service call total was nearly $300 and the lights went out the following day. When I called back this weekend he asked if I had changed the rest of the plugs. Honestly for $300 and a $15 minute visit I felt maybe he should have checked the other outlets as he identified that as part of the problem. Anyway I called them back and spoke with Brian directly. I voiced that I was frustrated and wondered why would an electrician tell me to change the rest of the 4 outlets in the room as they would likely cause the same problem. He became extremely defensive, to the point of nearly yelling at me for clogging up their emergency lines on a Sunday and telling me I didn't understand his services, then essentially hung up on me after he spoke his mind not allowing me to respond. When I initially talked with answering service I I told them I would just like the lights fixed by Thanksgiving not to drop everything and come today. Anyway it was an extremely rude response and I couldn't get a word in edgewise.

I found these guys on Angie's List, where they're also very highly rated, and for that reason, and that they were running a special on a furnace inspection/tuneup, I contacted them.  They got back to me within 24 hours, and we had an exchange which answered all my questions and scheduled an appointment with a 3 hour window.  About an hour and half in, he emailed me to let me know they were running on the later side and that he'd call when he was on his way.  He got here just under the wire - got right to it, wrote the report and explained it all to me in detail.  He was both personable and professional - gave great service and great pricing.  Will DEFINITELY work with them again! :)

Had such a  pleasant experience with a routine furnace servicing (groupon purchase), that I felt the need to post it on Yelp.  

I was late getting home for the appointment (totally my fault), and was sure Jason would be upset having to wait, but I was taken completely by surprise when he was pleasant from the start.  I was also concerned that he would try to upsell me with things I didn't need, but he went right to work, serviced the furnace, washed out and reinstalled the filter, and didn't once mention any extra work needed.  After that, he told me that the furnace looked good, and that I had a good 8-10 years of life left in it.  No upsell, no attitude, and very pleasant to work with.  Very different experience than other HVAC companies I've dealt with in the past, and would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a straightforward, positive experience.  

Great job, Jason!  I wish more people in service-oriented positions had your positive disposition.

Had another company come out and do a furnace check.  They told me that I needed to get a new furnace and a new water heater at a grand total of $5500 using all sorts of scare tactics.  I saw on Yelp that Black Lion has good ratings, so I had them come out for a 2nd opinion.  The service tech, Patrick, was on time and professional.  He found 2 problems that the previous company had found and fixed one thing for cheaper.  The electronic filter was not working, so he suggested buying a disposable one rather than replacing the metal ones as they are expensive.  He even took the metal filters away for me to recycle.  Other than that, said things looked fine on both the furnace and water heater.  It's nice to know there are still some honest companies around.  And then just as we were leaving, he gave both of my sons a plush black lion, which made their day!  I will for sure use Black Lion again.

Had very mixed experience overall. I wanted to get AC installed & after seeing positive reviews here & another site, I gave them a call (along with a few others). their sales guy Brian didn't seem to know what he was talking about -
1. he mentioned that he could install the AC on one side of my house where I knew they couldn't do it since there was not enough space (other AC guys had already told me that was not possible because of city code... ).
2. As part of the install I wanted them to move the current furnace just an inch away from the wall (to reduce noise) ... and he mentioned that it was not possible to do that because of blah (again, other guys had already told me that it is super-easy & that they'll do it for no charge).

Anyway, I decided to do some research and look at alternatives as I didn't like what he was trying to sell me at all. But they exclusively worked with Bryant AC (which was the make I wanted, because of its positive reviews & also because I have a Bryant furnace)... and they were the ones with best ratings among companies that fit this profile. So, I decided to stick with them ignoring my interaction with sales. I asked Brian if he could show me any existing installations they have done or give me some refs. He didn't respond for a month! Eventually, I mentioned to him that I was going to look elsewhere & then he immediately responded that most customers he talked to were uncomfortable with the idea of showing their AC to some stranger (which I can understand, but he could have told me this a long time ago). By now, I was pretty irritated with the experience, but decided continue as I was guessing that their actual work must be pretty good if they got such positive reviews.
I went ahead... On the day of the service, the service guys showed up and overall did a great job. I really liked their work and they actually gave me a lot more useful information before and after the job. One interesting thing I found out at the time was that they didn't check for any specific rules from my HOA (which is something the other AC guys actually explicitly mentioned as something they take care of as part of all the permits), so I called Brian and asked him about this. I realize that I should have explicitly asked him about this beforehand, but I missed it. But he never brought this up either (as an expectation from me before the work started). I asked him if we can reschedule & he basically said he would charge me $1500 to re-schedule. Worse... if they went ahead with the install and if my HOA says that I need to move the AC, he would still charge me $1500!!! In other words, he didn't tell me that this was an expectation before hand, he doesn't try to find out anything from my HOA... never brings up anything... but if there is a problem & they have to redo it, then he will charge me $1500. I was super-pissed to say the least. The worst part about this whole thing was how he talked to me ... he kept saying that any homeowner would know this and kept asking how would I know that a home owner won't know he needs to check with HOA :|

Anyway, I'm glad it is over. I'm never going back to this company again, even though I liked the work their service guys did in the end. If I have a problem with my AC, I'm calling someone else.

My Furnace went out on a Friday night.  I called Black Lion Saturday morning and they were able to get someone out to diagnose the furnace the same day.  I needed a furnace replacement and Chase Tasca explained why I needed the replacement, showed me what went wrong with my old furnace and patiently answered all of my questions.  He showed me a number of options for replacement and I chose the Bryant 926T.  He left his business card and told me to call or email if I had any questions.  I did have a question after he left and e-mailed him Saturday night not expecting a response until Monday, but Chase returned my email within a few minutes on a Saturday night and addressed my question.  Parker and Justin came out that Tuesday to do the install of the new furnace. They were there right on time, went straight to work, had me up and running in a few hours including going down into my crawl space and fixing a trunk line that had come disconnected.  They explained how to use the new thermostat, took time to answer all of my question,  cleaned up completely when they were done and were extremely professional and knowledgeable.  There was one issue with the furnace filter and when I called the office to ask about it, I spoke to an install manager who promised to have someone out first thing the next morning.  Sure enough, he also showed up right on time and took care of the issue. They were priced fairly and did a great job.  Everyone I dealt with at Black Lion was professional and courteous.  I recommend them to anyone needing furnace servicing or replacement.

Great experience from start to finish to install new furnace and thermostat. Bid process was quick and easy and straightforward. Price was reasonable - slightly lower than other reputable companies. Installation by Jerry was very well done and smooth. Arrived on time and did work efficiently and cheerfully. Kept house and work location clean and tidy. Showed me features and how to use new system.

I called Black Lion to service my furnace and A/C.  The A/C had been installed in 2002 and had never had any service.  Braxten completed the scheduled maintenance and recommended a few things to keep our A/C performing well and to extend the life of our furnace.  He was professional and courteous.  I will now use them for our regular maintenance and will recommend them to friends.

One young guy came and check everything of my old furnace and ducts. He said the installation does not follow code, and need replace all of them.  He may be right about the current installation. He did not confirm he could replace my furnace or not. Though he promised that he will have someone check again, nobody follows up any more.

Ben at Black Lion has come out to work on the furnaces at our rentals twice. It was easy to schedule an appointment and he was right on time. He fixed the problems we were having and  at a reasonable price. We are very pleased and will gladly use this company for all of our HVAC needs.

Full Disclosure: like, perhaps, many of us I slightly expect to get taken to the cleaners by folks that come in to take a look at heating/AC units.  Our A/C crapped out last summer (was throwing the breaker), and we called Black Lion to have them come out and take a look.  They could have very easily come in and claimed that our compressor had shorted out, but that's not what happened.  They came out and diagnosed a problem with a small part of our A/C unit.  A couple hundred bucks later, the unit was up and running again.  I would recommend them to anyone without hesitation, and will be calling them the next time we need heating/AC work done.

Very pleased with the service I received from Black Lion Heating. I originally bought an Angie's List Coupon for Furnace Tune-Up. But before I called for an appointment I found out my furnace was only blowing cold air!  I called them on Sunday afternoon (I knew they would be closed) and they called me back Monday morning. They came to my house Monday afternoon. They did all the tune-up and fixed the problem (something was clogged), at no extra charge! They were very professional, friendly & thorough. I will always call them with any of my heating problems and have already recommended them to my neighbors.  Thank you Ben.

I would highly recommend Black Lion.  They were professional, honest, timely and thorough in the work that they did for us.  During a home inspection, we discovered that our heat exchangers were cracked.  The first company that came out wouldn't entertain the idea of replacing the heat exchangers and would only promote the idea of a new furnace - to the tune of over $4K.  The rest of the furnace was in great condition so I just couldn't see pitching the entire thing.  After doing research of my own and learning about cracked heat exchangers and when to repair vs. when to replace the unit, we contacted the Bryant dealer and found that the heat exchangers were covered under warranty.  We called Black Lion for a second opinion.  They came out a few days later, assessed the issue, recommended replacing the exchangers (no high pressure push to buy a new furnace) and educated us on the furnace itself.  When they came back out to replace the parts, they were thorough and efficient.  These guys are honest, fair and hard working.  Call them.
