Eric did a fabulous job installing a new Solatube in our dark hallway, replacing an old Solatube that had been damaged by roofers, and cleaning the dome outside on our third Solatube. My gosh, we can SEE now! Excellent company and staff. They have a showroom in Edmonds off Aurora Ave and the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. In addition, they do door screens, blinds, and deck railing. I highly recommend this company.

The lady that answers the phone was very rude and unhelpful. even cursed at me and made disrespectful comments about my children. Very dissatisfied. Ended up using a different company just because of the attitude she gave me.

The process of getting this installed was seamless.  The company communicated timely and were professional throughout.  The difference it's had on the guest bathroom (as shown in the photos) is truly amazing.

My only complaint is I asked the installer to put the exterior tube on the backside of the house instead of having it visible to the front.  He said it would require a high # of feet  (forgot exact # he gave) of tubing to make that work. However, I have a gable roof with a conventional slope/grade on top of a 1,450 SQ Foot rambler. Where he ended up installing it and where I would've preferred it was a difference of maybe 3-4 feet.  Looking at how these are installed, it makes no sense to me why he couldn't complete the install as requested.

I would recommend NW Natural Lighting despite this and would gladly use them again for future lighting needs.

(FYI - The photos don't do it justice.  The lighting is much brighter in person than shown in the photos)

ps. This was installed in Feb'20. It's now Sep'21 and I still haven't had any leaks!

NNL did a wonderful job with our railings on my home that I had already moved out of. We managed the entire bid/transaction/installation through email so I didn't have to make the trip home and we're very happy with the final result

Nick was able to find a suitable place despite all the duct work, so we could light up our long dark grand entry hallway.  He was in our neighborhood area earlier than the appointment time and when they called to ask if we could do earlier, we were happy to.  We have a rambler with 12 foot ceilings and a very high attic so it looks like we have a second story.
We had ten inch ones installed in the kitchen and the dining room with normal surround caps Classic Fusion; one 14 in the Great Room with the Tier Drop and one in the front hallway.  We needed extensions due to the high roof.  Definitely brings natural light into these darker areas.  On bright days, we have to keep looking to make sure we didn't leave a light on, kind of amusing!  We are very happy with the Solatubes and the installation.

Within a month from start to finish we have our railings installed.  We researched options for front step railings for our home, contacted NW Natural Lighting & NNL (railings).  To our surprise NWNL was were we bought the Solatube over 6 years ago (and love it).  This month's project was install railings.  We made an appointment and visited their showroom (felt comfortable with masking and distancing).  Discussed or needs, selected the railing material, staff precisely measured our stairways, emailed us the design details for confirmation.  The order was placed.  Smooth as silk process start to finish.  Professional, precision workmanship and a courteous and responsive staff.  We were both very impressed with the entire process (especially during the COVID restrictions and road blocks experienced this past year).  It almost felt Normal!  :) J&J

We can see the light!!! We live in a 3-story townhouse and had Solatubes installed upstairs in our hallway and bathroom. Our experience working with NW Natural Lighting was a thoroughly fantastic experience.

We are no longer living as Vampires in our home during the day and we can actually see our reflections in the mirrors without turning on the lights.

Thanks to Dawn and the install team for such a seamless experience! She even helped us with useful information after the install about how our truly-vampiric tenant who works nights and sleeps during the day can block the light in the bathroom so the sun doesn't melt her when she should be sleeping.

Forgot to mention... they helped us get the federal tax credit as well!

(We could install in the 3-story because we are built against a hill and the installers only had to go up 2 stories to work on the roof)

I hired them for 2 solutube installations last year and today. Customer service is amazing from making the appointment to the installation itself. Today, the installers arrived on time and finished installing 2 solutubes within 3 hours. They even cleaned up after themselves. Wow. I am a happy repeat customer and recommends them to anyone who expects good quality product and customer service. A+++

We got two 10 solatubes installed in our dining room to add a bit of extra natural light to the space. They look great! It was really dark in this room before but now even on a cloudy day there is so much extra light and it is a nice soft light too. They also look like other recessed lights so blend well with our room. Really happy with the results and the install was a breeze! Sam did an awesome job.

We installed a solatube in our very dark staircase/small landing area. It went from being a dark cave to being bright and cheery. I'm so so glad we got on board and had this thing installed. They're much cheaper and far less prone to leaks and issues than traditional sky lights, sure I can't see the sky but for the cost and peace of mind it's an excellent solution. We had a hard time scheduling since they call from a number just named montlake terrace and not their business name so I wasn't taking their calls but once we connected they were super flexible about coming out and installing around our very busy schedule. The whole install took ~2 1/2 hours and the installer explained everything to me about how it works, how to clean it (if I wanted to) how to check it for leaks, replace the batteries in the night light (which currently gets you a 30% federal tax break on the entire thing!) and explained how it was installed on the roof, which is the same as any other vent that would be in your roof.

Overall very happy with the results, the product, the install, the sales rep, everything. Would definitely recommend this to anyone struggling with dark places in your home.

Sharing the goodness, great company, products and service. I recently organized a group install for our town home community with Nate, for 20 solar powered attic ventilation fans. They were very accommodating to our scheduling needs and Eric their installer went the extra mile in working with me at time of install, he was very knowledgeable and a real pro. Prices were very reasonable, so I didn't have to brake the porcelain piggie for extra coin compared to the other companies I checked, but even better, their customer service was second to none. The fan, a Solar 2400 has excellent warranty and performance. My 1600 sq ft. tri level was unbearable in temps above 80f, now it has been comfortable all the way into the upper 80s, so yes this product dramatically decreases interior temperatures especially on the upper (hottest) floor. It's actually hotter now, in my ground level garage than my 3rd floor office thanks to the constant air turn over this attic fan provides. The beauty is, the fan is totally silent and being solar powered, costs nothing to run. Huzzah.

Solatube is excellent. I installed 7 solatube in my dark house and its absolutely lit up now. This was one of the best investments I made. NW Natural Lighting is the only authorized dealer for Solatube brand. I have installed all kinds of Solatube, including the one with dimmer, with light, with exhaust fan and of course the regular one. These guys are awesome. Scott and the other guy came to install and they finished it in a day. I got discount, Scott does go above and beyond for installation and help you in planning as well. I planned to install 8, but he said 7 is enough which shows they are not just after your money.

If you want to light up your house, go for this one instead of other brand or traditional skylight. You will not regret it.

Sue in the office was super helpful during my initial phone call.  She asked appropriate questions about my home to determine the correct Whole House Fan, Attic Fan and Screen Doors for my home.  She responded quickly via e-mail after I provided dimensions, and she confirmed all pricing and offered two discounts.  My installer, Sam, arrived on time and took the first few minutes to explain the products he was about to install and work with me to determine the best locations for the two fans.  Sam was friendly, knowledgeable and has lots of experience which made the installation go smoothly and ahead of schedule.  I've had my fans and sliding doors for a week, and I absolutely love them!  Why did I wait so long to install these money-saving air-conditioning tools?  The Whole House Fan is incredibly quiet even though is moves a huge volume of air quickly.  It creates a pleasant breeze in the house and helps to cool down the house quickly in the evening.  If you have an older home in Seattle and are looking for a greener alternative to air conditioning, call NW Natural Lighting and ask for information about how a Whole House Fan can pull in cool evening air from outside so you don't have to sleep in a hot house with window fans making noise all night.

I would not recommend this company.  I think the product itself can be good IF your home is a good candidate, but these tubes will NOT necessarily give the results salesperson Dawn promises - beware!

Dawn visited our home and showed us videos of what we could expect with the solar tubes. She was very excited and convinced us it would transform our space dramatically. We decided to buy 2 for our living room and one large one in our kitchen. The cost was $2423. We thought it would be worth it as our house was pretty dark. We were wrong.

On the final day of install I was shocked when I saw the results. It was a slight increase in light...a subtle change - NOT a dramatic improvement at all and NOT like even the cloudy days light we had been shown on the video as worst case scenario.

I asked the installer what he thought and he said it was because our tubes were installed in shade, due to the trees around our property. I've read about the tubes since online and they warn about not putting the tubes in shade as you won't get as much light. The salesperson Dawn never mentioned trees/shade during her visit.

I calked to speak with Dawn - she told me we were experiencing less light due to the time of year - that it'll be brighter later in the year. I indicated I was not happy to pay the 2nd half of the bill until we had discussed things further and I suggested she come and see the results. I complained that she had not discussed the potential trees issue with us or told us not to expect good results until later in the year? Dawn kept saying how much we are going to love them and how everyone loves them (like there's something wrong with us) and suggested we speak again after a couple days after I have had a chance to realize how wonderful they are.

After a few days we spoke again and I confirmed again that we were still not happy. I reiterated that the video we were shown was nothing like the results we had. She still kept repeating that everyone else was happy and let me know that her boss expected to collect payment. I suggested she come to our home and see the results herself.

I was disgusted at what happened during the visit. Dawn actually told me the owner of the company thought we were just trying to get out of paying the bill and that maybe we were having financial difficulties. I could not believe I was being so insulted in our own home. Dawn tried to suggest that she did check and consider the trees during her consultation sales visit and that she was not concerned about it. This was a LIE. We had to remind Dawn that she had visited us in the dark - on an evening after work. She could not have possibly seen the trees or shade. We let her know that we feel someone should have properly evaluated the shade and trees issue before selling a promise that we would have significant results. Maybe our home was not right for the tubes? Or why installer put them in knowing the trees were an issue for our roof? Or she he have installed in a different spot?

My boyfriend explained that whilst the living room tubes were not great, they were better than the kitchen, and that we were willing to see how the light improved in the summer months. But for the kitchen - we really felt mislead and we were not happy. Due to the trees our kitchen was maybe never going to be like the videos?.....even in the summer? We asked Dawn what she can do to help? Recommend?

Dawns response was you could cut down the trees. We pointed out that is very expensive (otherwise we would have done it already) AND some of the problematic trees are not in our property.  Dawns second response, which I was so shocked by was well we can remove it for you but then you'll have to pay to fill the holes and repair your roof!!!!!  I could not believe it. Really?

My roof and living room ceilings now have three tubes installed which I'm stuck with. The results are no where near what we were shown to expect.

Dawn never mentioned during her sales pitch that we should be prepared to expect only a slight increase in light initially due to the time of year...or that our results will be less due to shade issues.

My boyfriend saw that I was getting upset and that clearly Dawn was willing to be insulting and rude and had not come to our home to resolve issues. She clearly just wanted payment and that was all. My boyfriend said that we were not getting anywhere and that we didn't need the stress. He said he'd call and pay the remaining balance on Monday, but he restated that we were not happy, that he recommends she change her sales pitch so she doesn't mislead anyone else, and that if the light is still poor in the summer he'll be calling.

Dawn never apologized for her actions. She was sorry we didn't like it, but she would not acknowledge that we had been mislead. We are left with a very bad taste in our mouth.

Is this really the companies idea of good customer care?

I had 2 14 inch solar tubes installed in my living room and 1 10 inch in the upstairs hallway.  They make a wonderful difference in brightening the spaces - a small price to pay for such a large benefit!  The people at this company have all been nice and easy to work with - estimate and scheduling were a breeze.  The installer was right on time, super nice guy, quick and remarkably clean, with barely any dust afterwards.  Probably my best home contractor experience ever.

Wow! What a difference in our hall bathroom - even on a cloudy day! Our Solatube was installed so quickly and quietly. When I first saw it in action the daylight was spilling into our hallway - just as much, if not more than the daylight from a south facing bedroom. It's so nice not having to turn the light on. The really interesting thing is even though the Solatube is placed on the north side of the roof, the bathroom looks sunny. It must be the special roof feature capturing the light because our 2' x 4' traditional box skylight further down the roof was less light on that same day.

An amazingly pleasant experience. Affordable, professional and thorough!! I found them in one of those home coupon magazines, and upon my first call I knew they were right for me! I got a retractable screen custom fit to an oversized door. They sent samples, I made the selection and then the installer came out within the week!! The installer was extremely professional - he walked me through the entire process, was quick and efficient and then walked me through and made sure I knew how to properly operate my new sliding screen!! I was so impressed with him, and I absolutely LOVE the screen!

One half of our house is dark, there is just no getting around it. It's depressing. At least that's what I thought, until I heard about solar tubes. I googled it, did my research, and found NW Natural Lighting. They're the only company around that has the real branded ones, not like the ones at Home Depot (which I didn't even know existed until a few weeks ago). I sent them an email and they were very prompt with their response and Dawn came out to give us a consultation right away. She was great with our surly dachshund and gave lots of advice on our options; she even told us about a sale I wasn't aware of that was going on that saved us $100!

So we opted to get a 14 tube with a lighting kit above our entry way, and a 10 tube with lighting kit at the end of the hallway. The install was great. Our appointment was scheduled for noon and Joel called in the morning and said he could come earlier if we wanted (we did), and he was done within a few hours. He put cloths down to protect our floor and did a great job. Now we have a TON more light in that part of the house, and as an added bonus, since we got the light kits (where you can connect the electrical and use as a light switch at night), we also got rid of our ugly light fixtures. Win win win!

I highly recommend these people. They are so nice, straightforward about the options and good at what they do. Not to mention these solar tubes are much cheaper and low maintenance than a skylight. Think of all the money I'll save on therapy in the winter now that I'll be getting so much more Vitamin D.

Our son and daughter-in-law had already put in a retractable screen door, so we had seen the product.  It seemed perfect for our little house, so I sent photos of the two doors and scheduled installation.  Scott, one of the best, fastest installers of anything I'd ever seen, came at 10 AM.  We discussed a couple of details, and after an hour he had installed both doors.  Just in time, as the temperature that day reached nearly 90 degrees.  Really the perfect, unobtrusive way to create a straight-through draft that cools the house and vents the smells from Thai cooking to the outside.  Really good investment.  Good company!

I've just had installed our 6th (and last, I think!) Solatube in our living room. I don't know why I waited so long! Every time I'd come into our house through the front door I'd find the north-facing living room so depressing because it was the first room I'd see from the entryway and it was really dark.  A few years ago we had two installed in our hallways which prior felt like mole tunnels. One in my daughter's bedroom which makes a huge difference. She might not appreciate the bright light when she is a teenager but for now it is great! I understand they have a dimmer accessory to close off light as needed. One in a bathroom at the end of a hallway and one in our new mud room.

I cannot say enough about the product and the service by NW Natural Lighting. We live on Mercer Island in a 2500. sq ft. 1968 rambler surrounded by gorgeous trees that make our house dark. I love the trees so I work with them by finding ways to bring more light into the house with windows and Solatubes. I love how I don't have to turn on lights now during the day. Great product and I've never felt that NW Natural Lighting was trying to talk me into more than I was asking for.

The only negative is the profile. I wish they could be lower to the roof but I understand the design brings in more light. So, I live with the bubbles on my roof!
FYI, much as I like skylights, I decided against them because I didn't want to cut huge holes in my roof and we need light in multiple rooms. There is also a greater likelihood of leaking and leaves/needles collecting on skylights.

I always question the validity of online reviews but this is the real deal. I have only reviewed two times. Both because I felt really strongly about a product/service (either negatively or positively).

Just purchased Solatube's Whole House Fan through NW Natural Lighting...and we are BIG FANS!  We have a (whole house) air conditioner, but our home sits in full sun all day and our upstairs just doesn't get cool enough for comfort during the summer months. Since we live in the Seattle area, my husband was skeptical that a whole house fan would be able to pay for itself with energy savings, but he is now convinced because we barely need to use our air conditioner at all anymore!  We just open a few windows in the early morning and in the evening, and run the whole house fan for about 30 minutes.  It sucks cool air in and blows the hot air out, quickly and quietly.  An added bonus is that it also can be used to eliminate odors such as new paint or cooking smells from our home! The NW Natural Lighting installer, (Brad T.) did a great job of explaining the installation process and how to run the fan.  He was professional, polite, and left the installation area clean.  We are really enjoying being able to instantaneously bring fresh air into our home as well as appreciate the savings on our electrical bill!  The Solatube Whole House is a cool product - we recommend it highly!

I set up an appt. at a Home Show to have a solar tube tech come out to my house to explain the process of installation, sizes available, best location, prices, etc. The tech was on time, very knowledgeable and helpful to determine my lighting needs- After deciding I wanted 2 solar tubes installed, the tech installed them beautifully! In no time, my walk-in closet and bathroom were SO much brighter and cheerful! I absolutely LOVE them and would highly recommend them to anyone who would like to brighten any room naturally. Customer service was awesome too!

We have had our solatubes for many years. We have them in both bathrooms with the exhaust fan being remote of the ceiling is so quiet that i had to put in timers or they would be left on. We have had guest ask how to turn the lights off when the exit the room.  Also a tip is to use a low wattage bulb in the fixture so the late night run wont blind you!!   We also have one in the main hall way. As for long term are first one was installed in the 1990's And was no problem for the roofer to replace are roof in 2009.

We had solatubes installed in our home some years ago. After installation, we noticed that during very hard rains (1 or 2 times per year) there was leaking around one solatube. NNL decided to honor the warranty. However, the repair person who told us that the leak was in our roof not the solatube.
We did nothing for several years while a water stain about 6 across developed in our ceiling.
We are now remodeling this bathroom and have seen and video-recorded the drip coming from the solatube flashing. It was the solatube all along! We are replacing the ceiling and insulation damaged by the solatube and would like for NNL to fix the flashing. NNL has refused and wants us to pay them more for the repair than the installation originally cost us.
We are over a barrel. We cannot remodel with the leaky tube in the room. If the repair person had fix the problem in the first place (under warranty), we would not be having this issue now.
NNL cannot be trusted to provide honest repair support and does not stand behind their installations!

I had a sliding screen door in my house that we hated - it always fell off track and was just horrible.  So I desperately wanted one that would work, but was also skeptical that any sliding screen door would just be crap like my old one.  I found a brand (Mirage) that looked like what I wanted from other reviews of it and tracked down a place near Seattle where I could physically go and play with an installed Mirage screen door.  I found NW Natural Lighting and called to confirm they have a working installed screen door in their showroom.  I had a great experience when I went there and they took plenty of time to answer my questions.  While there, I noticed they also had solar attic fans, which was on my list to do but hadn't been prioritized.  In any case, I explored that also and scheduled an appointment to have both installed at my home in Seattle.  They arrived on time as expected, did a great job with the install and made sure I was comfortable with everything, and were gone after a few hours.  All around, an A+.  I tried my best to break the door before the technician left to no avail.  Perfect!

Great customer experience! The installer did an excellent job. Cleaned up after himself, informed us what he was doing and why, explained how the Solatube works and did not leave till we were happy. We signed up for a solatube for our hallway and bathroom. The sales agent at the fair and the installer quoted the same exact price, etc. and there was NO switch and bait. Good company to do business with. We even get a federal tax credit! We will be doing more business with them. Could not ask for a better company to deal with. Very pleased with the product. It brings in a ton of light to both areas (which was real dark to begin with). We were so pleased, we even wrote a letter to the company about our experience. These guys are solid. Note: they do more than solatube's.
